I'm now paranoid
I was doing
gentlemen we just watched the final episode of cobra kai um oh boy i feel like they um
did a great job yeah that's hard it's hard saying bye um oh boy
uh andrew yeah yeah i feel it man you're the guy well how i'm feeling is if you are
listening on apple or spotify you should definitely give us a five-star ring we would
appreciate and also cool teas like these reject nations
shop.com. I do believe they threw in the credits for your boys there. I bet that was them
at the end. The showrunners. I didn't see it. Okay. Thank you. Incredible finale. I'm really sad right
now, but I'm also, again, just over the moon. This is part three was the best part of the whole thing.
But I like how there were a lot of, I love how you pointed out during a review of the last episode
about Stingray. Like, what was the whole point of that in regards to, you know, him like trying
revived cobra kai back and then that came back and then there was the whole thing we were kind
of a little bit annoyed at like wait what's this whole point of questioning miagi and then doing
this whole thing with the boxing and like what and then there was a nice payoff i personally thought
i liked it um now the whole idea of johnny as an underdog and from where we started the show
and how he's felt like a loser and a failure in his life from where we started the show and how
he tried to bring back
Cobra Kai and everything that has led up to this.
I just thought it was such a beautiful swan song
and now he's the underdog.
He is in Daniel's position now.
And Louis Tans' character represents everything
that Johnny used to be, like the bully.
I just think it was just,
it was poetry, you know, if it rhymes.
It was just, it was so beautiful
and was just so well executed.
And there were just, and the way,
I was my biggest concern and I knew like I trusted
everything in these writers
like they've proven time and time again
so when I say my biggest concern
I knew in the back of my head I'm like these guys got it
how are they going to close off
each of the characters' storylines
and I thought they personally
did it in a great way you know
you got Robbie and Tori like two characters
who have been through
awful conflicts in their lives
like you got Robbie's father
abandoning him the day of his birth
and then just everything he's been through that we've seen through
the show and to get like
now, you know, sponsorships and all that so happy for, and he always got second place.
And now to get the sponsorship in Tori, the loss of her mother, with what happened with Kwan
and obviously everything else, losing Miguel to Sam, but then finding love and then finding
the Leruso's. And now this sponsorship, like everything she's gained. And then you got
obviously Dimitri and Eli going together with binary bros for life. And I love that real genius thing.
and then Daniel and Amanda just embracing again the letting go and Daniel and Johnny like
kind of starting up their own school together. I love that. I just love the way everything
was just tidied up. It was just so so respectfully done and just so done in a satisfying way.
I also do love to, again, going to go back to my baseball roots here as I always do because
the show resonates with me in that way. I love how in the moment we're just,
Johnny was struggling, which reminded me a lot of Karate Kid Part 3, where Daniel was afraid of
Mike Barnes, you know, there was that fear factor. And, you know, Miyagi spoke to him about, you know,
it's okay to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear. And that is so true. But I also love that
this episode spoke to me in regards to, you can't treat every single student the same way.
And what I mean by that, obviously, you know, kind of, you know, always killed them with kindness,
that saying goes. But also, everyone is wired differently.
you have to treat everyone, like everyone's got different buttons with what pushes them.
And obviously with Johnny, Daniel knew how to push his buttons and obviously chosen, like,
helped Daniel realize that as well.
And I appreciated that because that's the same thing with me, with my students.
Like, I can treat one person, again, not saying I yell at anyone or certain things,
but there's certain ways I motivate because I know these kids.
And I know, like, what works for them and what works for one person does not work for another.
And when that was happening, I'm like, oh, my God, this is so.
relatable for me because this is what I do when I teach. And I love that the writers realize that.
And I'm like, this is so applicable to me because this is stuff that I do when I'm teaching.
So it's just like, again, this show just always, I mean, just the characters are so endearing.
And the situations and the commentary about life in general just speak to me. And on top of that,
when we do get to the action sequences, because we're so emotionally invested in the characters.
like you know you're getting genuine reactions because we're so damn invested um i just what
as well i know it's recency bias is one of my favorite finalies i can think of um obviously i
will have time to think about it but in the moment right now it's one of my favorite finalies i
can think of for a series no it's not as good as Seinfeld but um you know it's it's definitely up
there uh but i i thoroughly enjoy this and i'm uh so happy for johnny uh as a character
because you know what he had to deal with
and I think that was so appropriate to start out at the beginning with him at the at the graveyard and like how he felt because he's ever since that the first shot in the first episode of season one was him getting kicked because we had a different perspective and view of that shot from the first movie and he's felt like a failure since that moment and like it's it's been a trickling effect and then also you get the callback line to when crease also choked him out in the parking because this is a father figure and a mentor to him like
rejecting him on the spot after losing on top of that.
So he got it like a double whammy that night.
And everything has trickled down in a negative effect for him since.
And like to see him uprise and be kind of reborn like a Phoenix in all the right ways.
And this wave was just, it was empowering and awesome for Johnny.
And I was just so happy to see it.
And just so I was happy for Johnny.
And just what an amazing show.
I'm curious what the movie's going to do.
I know it's not really connected with what this does, but what an amazing show.
That's how I feel, Greg.
I like your feelings.
I like your feelings, too.
John, please go ahead to share with us how you feel, my friend.
This was really, really great.
I mean, this was very gratifying, and it's kind of remarkable to me here and now.
And you've mentioned recency bias a couple times, Andrew, but I feel like sometimes and everything,
Yes, Bears rewatch, you encounter something where you're like, yeah, no, I, like, for the amount of emotion and the amount of grace with which they orchestrated all this, I do feel like this particular chunk, these five episodes of part three of season six are some of the strongest stuff this show has done, might be the strongest stuff the show has done.
And granted, you can't do it without everything else, but it's been a fascinating journey across this particular season, because part one feels like this could be a whole season of a show.
and maybe somebody you know told them we got to do this in one instead of two i almost feel like
you could have done part one is its own little season and expanded it a little so a couple things
maybe felt a little more fleshed out and then you could have just done the rest of this as a two-part season
even because the middle chunk a bit more consistent certainly and it is more of the fun in games of
like oh we're climbing our way up the ranks of the you know right tournament and then we get to the end
part here and it's the
spotlights it's the major major
wrap-ups for like part two
almost wraps a lot of the ensemble
stuff in a more granular
way for like the broad
ensemble and then this part here gets
to spotlight here are the conclusions
and wrap-ups from the main themes of the show
for the mainest of the main characters
and yeah for
for how this season started
it's like wild and remarkable and I'm curious
about the story of how it
was conceived because this part has
been so consistent, so well-paced, so well-proportioned, and so on the money in terms of, like,
yes, this is what this has been about the whole time. And, like, the clarity is remarkable.
And it's really nice to have the gratification of, like, okay, any concerns I had before, like,
if you had to prioritize where to put your best work, they clearly did it right in prioritizing
what they prioritized here. So, I mean, yeah, everything you said, like, yeah, just so many, I'm
sure we will through conversation
dive into the nitties
and the gritties but but yeah like
this all coming down to johnny
to the place that we started
at with him long ago and the true way in which
you know you've watched as you know
he goes back to cobra kai he opens
cobra kai backup as a last ditch
effort in gaining
some control gaining some
sense that he is not just a washed up
loser and ace degenerate in this
life and even though that
solo plan so many solo plans you
come up with don't go according to that plan and often involve a heck ton of other people you
never accounted for and i feel like that's part of the beauty of what they did here was yes it was
this like singular flint spark but it took all this other stuff to get to this point now and the
happily ever after of danny and johnny sitting in the bar conferring there's still who they are
as individuals but they have gained a piece as partners as friends and just the way this all
articulated that and the way this episode articulated that in a more Johnny especially and also
Danny's specific sense was really, really nice. I loved seeing him tap in like for the ups and downs
of them working together in times where we've been. I thought they were past this or that.
This really nicely paid off everything where you're like, yeah, Danny does have to learn that
there are the thing that Johnny teaches at the end. You need as many of the good asses. You need as many of the good
aspects of as many disciplines as you can have so that you have the most tools possible,
the most well-rounded repertoire possible.
And so much of that played into this episode.
And they do manage to convince you at a certain point that this guy, if he's tapped in,
locked in and focused and balanced can, it comes back to that thing of like massive strength
and power counts for a lot, but it isn't everything.
And in a lot of ways, zooming in on the fact of Johnny's defeat and him.
being like, I don't know how I could possibly even hold a candle to this guy when he
almost broke my arm 10 minutes ago. You know, like, they find a way to catch you up in that
fight and sell the fight throughout the choreography and just the emotionality of it to where
you believe the conclusion more than just it needing to happen as a plot mechanic. Like,
this was, this was like masterful, this chunk of the season. This was beautiful. And as of right
now, you know, very few almost no notes, you know. This was really something special.
I'm glad.
Like, it's weird.
Yeah,
I'm sad that the show's done,
but I also feel the sort of,
you know,
when you,
when something ends gracefully
and ends what feels like the right way,
I feel fulfilled by that and inspired by that.
And so I'm,
I'm grateful for that.
And it was nice to just be caught up in it
and to have them stick this landing.
It's like,
so gratifying.
I want to overstay your welcome.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I mean,
you know,
I feel like what you guys have said.
It's like I would watch a million more seasons.
just for the fun of like I like all these people it's fun to hang with this story but also like
good on you you knew when to like minus first chunks of the season question marks aside like it seems
like you knew where to put this and when to not outstate you're welcome and you did that so most shows
especially in today's market they will end when they're like the audience is over this and this is
not good anymore and now we got to wrap it up yeah and uh yeah or the views are down or whatever
and cobra kai's popularity has only increased right like you look at the trajectory of when like the optics of it launching on youtube originals probably diminishes a bit of like expecting the show to actually be good you know when you when the karate kid everything subjective generally it's like the karate kid is the good one and and of course there's a massive fan base for two and
three of course and maybe there's people who like that one with julie pierce i i don't know i've
never seen it um so i'm not really i thought it'd be cool to have her but i'm also like
i'm not having i've never seen it's i don't really i'm not a fan but i still would have to
like the scene or wouldn't be cool so uh yeah to what they did with this when before we watch the
first episode of this part i told these two next to me that no matter how great
of this part three is um it'll still be probably the weakest season to me and now i'm like i think
i'm really wrong because i was like well far one was and then part two is much better but i was
like i still know we're like just the way it's all flowing and stuff and maybe maybe um i'll still
feel that way if when the day i rewatch this show or rewatch this season um but this part three is
so damn good like it is remarkably good and it does everything of why you first signed up for a
cobra kai to the extent of was but maybe not specific plot beats like some stuff i'm sure some
stuff but like arcs of where they wanted to end this like how long ago did they know that there is
a question that i would love to ask like the writers like damn it ended so like right on the money
with everyone.
And it brought it back in ways
that were such a surprise
and in a way that is so perfect
for the show
when you start off
the first episode
from Johnny's perspective
and the second episode
from Daniel's perspective
and then it's a battle
of perspectives
for so much of this
is it the Miyagi Doe way
or the Kobri Kai way
or the Eagle Fink way
which is just another version
of cobra kai
and they both have to learn
from one another
and live in that gray.
it's so it's so beautiful like what they did with this arc and uh i'm happy that i'm just happy
with the show like i'm real i'm really happy with the way it went down the the fight scene
with him and louis tan was great and honestly like we were speaking about the why the fights
were so great with robbie and not robbie mcgale and axel and zara and torrid
because not it wasn't about what as much as they tried making zara like oh i hate her i didn't
like hate her um you hate her i didn't hate her i didn't hate her no like in a way like the way
you hate louis tan michael no yeah yeah you just want to see her like uh get a perspective
adjustment but you're not like kill this person yeah of course not for louis tan uh you want to see
sensei wolf go down for sure for sure you do not like this guy and i love him as a performance
I thought Louis 10 was excellent.
And when you have a lot of your main villains being characters from previous Karate Kid movies to then go, we're going to make the new main guy a new guy.
Yeah.
Showing this is a new thing.
I'm surprised they even pull that off well.
Because one of the elements about Cobra Kai, you wanted the nostalgia when you first stepped into this show.
But it's about paying off nostalgia in a way that also feels like true character.
character development so it just succeeds beyond hope you know remember and that's what every episode of
part three did when it comes to their payoffs they managed to make it more than some nostalgic
memory to serve an audience an easter egg yeah it was true character development um in the world of
the valley you know i thought it was so awesome and what else happens
And there's so many wrap-ups here.
But yeah, I like the open-endedness.
I was going to say, too, just wrap-up I didn't mention.
I love The Chosen and Kim Diyon wrap-up.
I know it's only for a quick moment.
But with what happened at the end of Karate Kid Part 2 with Chosen,
how he was living a life of shame after that moment.
And now he gets his redemption and how he trained the Miyagi-dos and help-trained Johnny.
It's like, when I saw Karate Kid Part 2, I would have never thought this would be the wrap-up for Chosen.
And he's one of my favorite characters now.
It's just, I just love what the writers have done with him and with so many other characters.
And also with Kim Dion, like to see what she had to grow up with with physical and emotional trauma and abuse.
And abuse, it's just awful.
And now to get, even though she did kill her grandpa, or she did.
No one's going to find out about that.
Yeah, it's fine.
Having said that, like, I'm glad that they got a happy ending too.
they both deserved it. I think it's really easy to, and maybe some things do bother you guys more
than perhaps it would bother us. In my opinion, I feel like if I were to very much magnify some
aspects of this show, I'm like, well, we didn't really, this didn't really, eh, like in terms of
like full resolve or, or didn't get much attention on screen, I feel like they knew where to keep
most of the attention and were to give micro versus macro basically and i think the macro was
well served i think the micro was well served so like even with that kim dion and chosen i'm like
yeah it's fine like sure do i question some stuff of you know like this woman murdered her grandpa
if you want to zoom really far in like yes that's a storyline where once she kills him you're like
okay so what what's going on with kim diana is she going to come back into this you just be happy yeah
yeah yeah so it's like you could flesh that out
And I wouldn't be vexed if someone was like,
I had an issue with that.
But I also, it doesn't, yeah,
it's like one of those things where given what they chose,
what was important to focus on in the time allotted.
Yeah, I'm not mad about it.
Yeah, and I think that they introduced layers and substance
to her, Kim Dion, when I thought she was a very two-dimensional character
in her season debut.
You know, she's just here to be evil.
And then they made her more human to the point where I liked her at Rutherford for her.
And you want chosen to get with her.
And she is an example of a new character
of what they've done with their old characters
who they've brought back, like a Chosen
to make you fall in like,
that's like, that's right.
I'm like, oh yeah,
Chosen was like the bad guy.
And he's a little goofier,
but it's believable and how like much he's lightened up.
And it also is,
that's the thing is like as much if it's a Johnny show,
it's also very much a Daniel show
as the main supporting character.
And I don't know what Ralph Machio is like in real life at all.
I don't, but it does, it would appear like he's really good at playing,
willing to take the, leave the lead spotlight and be the main support.
And it's, that's kind of a rare thing to see in, and film or TV.
He seems like he's really encouraging in a genuine way.
I don't know, maybe behind the scenes is a total dick.
But it seems that the funnier die sketch they did with him like years and years ago,
it's about him just like being an asshole, basically.
he's called wax on
F off
I don't know
even when he's an asshole
in the show
I've never like
fully believe
sometimes
there's been a season
where it's like
it's really believable
but I think
you always feel like
there's a nice guy
underneath that asshole
yeah
who's like
acting out of his element
or trying to be an asshole
trying to approximate
what a tough guy
might do or whatever
and again that payoff
and that callback
where he said to Johnny
you're all right
Lawrence
I mean that just
like that just
warm my heart
and again
That's just not a reference to me.
That's a fully-fledged-out arc for Daniel and for Johnny at the same time.
Yeah, because when Cobra Kai came back, Johnny, Danny was extremely, he was haunted.
Yeah, his face.
Like, he had to overcome a lot.
And to not even be provoked by Silver's threats and comments shows such development with him.
And what you were talking about with the mentorship and not everything to be out of way,
reminding me something I heard about leadership, which is what mentoring is.
and one thing I did here
is that a lot of times in leadership
people expect people to meet them at their level
but the leaders have to meet people
where they're at at their level
to help bring them up or to walk
with them and that's what
that's what
Danny learned in that moment
was like hey it's like I have to meet
Johnny where he's at will work for him
not just try to be like
no you got to do Miyagi-do
you got to be the Miyagi-do way
in a way that seemed like genuine
and accepting and
And it's, I think it's just so cool how they redefined what Cobra Kai means.
Because even from the first episode, it's just been like a giant deconstruction and unpacking and, and redefining world.
Yeah, for sure.
It is fascinating to see because so many, you know, the legacy reboot sequel project is such a thing now.
It's such a trope of just Hollywood business.
It's like the best one.
It is.
And it makes you wonder, like, they must have looked at those original movies.
the original movie especially
and see they must have
seen the rich vein of themes
and the potential for
again the fact that
this story even though yeah Danny
triumphs in the first movie and it's
and that's the climax like there's so much of a story
of two people's lives that begins
right here because of the fact
that they are both coming of age and they are
at this you know precipice
of the rest of their lives
and I'm and even
even even turning the sweep the leg into a
Good moment.
That's what I was going to say.
I'm glad they subverted our expectations and went because that's his move as opposed to stealing Daniel's move as as cathartic and cool as that would have been.
I'm glad that they subverted our expectations.
I'm one with the sweep the leg because that was used as a villain move in the original.
Now it's used as a hero moment.
I'm like, yes, this is so appropriate.
Well, arcing through visuals.
Yes.
Hosting this characters like changing emotions.
And I'm sure they knew.
Yeah.
And I'm sure they knew as an audience that we were expecting.
brain kick there too. And they're setting it up
that way too. And that's the
thing is they seem to know well when to
subvert and there
as you've pointed out there are so many
mirrors and callbacks and flashbacks
but I think it's done for the most
part the correct way where if you had no
idea about any of that everything still works
in context of the scene or if you
have an encyclopedic knowledge of that stuff
you can see how it's poetry it rhymes
and that's what
is missing from so much
nostalgia based material is it's simply here's the visual whereas this is like no here's an
appropriate time to mirror this other scene in the locker room or this other scene where you know
even when the mailman comes in it's like little things big things they seem to know where to
slip them so that it's fun for anybody who knows and it's also it's just it's motivated by everything
around it's a legacy sequel that's actually about legacy yeah yeah and so that's why the
nostalgic stuff, uh, works. But it supersedes that. Like, I, I, I like the show more than the
movies personally. Um, I don't feel like that as an unpopular opinion, actually. I feel, I do like
the show is more than the movie. Is it way more than the movies? And, and, uh, but it's like,
obviously it wouldn't exist without the movies, though, you know? All right. I'll admit it. And
maybe you guys have noticed during the holidays, I let myself go a little bit. I put on some weight. And for
the past 10 days, I have successfully been in a caloric deficit.
This whole new eating regimen, so staying extra hydrated has been quite crucial for me lately.
So while I've been drinking tons of water, I've also been incorporating today's sponsor,
again, a product I have already been using since before we partner with them, Liquid Ivy.
So here's why I've been leaning on their sugar-free hydration multiplier.
One stick in 16 ounces of water hydrates better than water alone.
It's powered by their LIV hydroscience formula, which delivers three times the electrolytes of the
leaving sports drinks, packed with essential vitamins like B12 and vitamin C, giving me that extra
boost to support recovery and energy levels. And the flavors, honestly, they're incredible.
And sometimes I just mix them with my protein shakes or I just drink them on their own.
Everyone I've tried is refreshing, smooth. It doesn't have that overly sweet after taste you get
with some other products. All in all, I'm very grateful for liquid IV. Again, I've already
been using their product. While this is yes and agreed upon endorsement, I was like, well,
it's a no-brainer to endorse them, considering how much benefits I feel when I use their product.
It's made staying hydrated so much easier.
So whether you're working out or cutting calories or just pushing through a busy day and don't want to take caffeine.
It's one of the quickest simplest ways to give your body what it needs to feel its best.
So like even if you're not on a strict diet or intense workout plan, staying properly hydrated, supports energy levels, focus, and just overall wellness.
I mean, let's face it, we could all use a little bit more balance in our lives.
So if you've been thinking about trying it or even if you haven't, take this as a sign.
The fact that you made it this far, take it as a sign.

Reject Nation, how are you feeling?
I've been thinking a lot about feelings lately.
Maybe because it's New Year's and New Year's resolutions,
they can be tough to stick to, don't you know?
I can't count how many times I've set a goal
only to let it fizzle out by February.
But what if some of those goals could be made automatic?
You just need a good transition to talk about it.
And you know what?
I'm excited to talk about it.
And this is today's sponsor, Acorns.
Why I'm excited because I personally use Acorns myself, so it's exciting just to share it with all of you.
Because they make it incredibly easy to start automatically saving and investing.
So your money has a chance to grow.
You know, you've always heard that forever.
Have your money worked for you.
And this is a great opportunity to do it.
Here's what was told to me before I signed up, and I found it to be absolutely true.
Number one, you don't need to be an expert.
They recommend a diverse portfolio that fits your goals.
You don't need a ton of money.
You can start investing with as little as $5 or whatever spare change you got.
And it's quick.
You can set up your account and start investing in like five minutes.
Because if you're anything like me, investing always felt intimidating.
I felt like it was exclusive for like the people who had Rich Dad pourdown when they were like two years old.
The Acorns, they made it simple.
And it is pretty cool, like relief feeling how every month I get to check out my Acorn's account.
Watch it grow for a better financial future.
It's pretty awesome.
So I've seen firsthand how powerful it can be.
And there's also another reject here.
Won't say who it is, but it's one of the one of the two women.
Good clue.
Where they were telling me a story before I signed up for Acorns,
how one time it actually got them out of a very big financial bind.
And that always stuck with me.
Because it's a reminder that small actions we take today can make a huge difference down the line.
If you've been thinking about getting started with investing or you just know you got to get it going.
Here's your sign right now.
You head to Acorns.com slash rejects or dial on the Acorns app to start saving and investing for your future today.
Once again, Acorns.com slash rejects.
Supporting them, supports the channel.
But more importantly, it supports your bank account.
Because of the subject matter, there's one thing.
I gotta say. Payne on client endorsement. Compensation provides incentive to
positively promote Acorn. T-R-1 compensation provided a vesting
involves risk. Acorns, LLC, and SEC, registered, investment, advisor.
View, important disclosures atacorns.com slash re-ex. Thank you again,
acorns for sponsoring this video.
Yeah, and to your point, like, I would actually
agree with you, though I'm obviously a die-hard
fan of the movies as well. Like, for
instance, I was not the biggest fan of Karate Kid
Part 3, but because of
season 3. It makes it better.
It makes the third movie. It expands
the backstory of Crease and Silver.
I'm like, oh, my God. Now, re-watching
the third movie, I'm like, it's still not the best movie, but
I like this movie so much more.
I have so much more context to these two characters.
I'm like, it adds so much more richness to the history of their backstory.
I'm like, oh my God.
Like it helps.
And even like Karate Kid Part 2, I already love that movie.
But now like with everything with Chosen and like where I know his story leads and ends to now, I'm like, it's just, it's incredible.
Now when you can watch going from the three movies and now into the Cobra Kai series, it's like I kind of just view it as one extension of each other, one one long story.
but yes, I do agree if I had to pick one.
That's a fascinating element of the essence of the show
is even beyond the literal text of the show,
it is lifting up other parts of the franchise.
That's why I love about it.
Okay, so then, I mean, it's our last time to talk about it,
so we should really talk about some stuff, then.
Kenny.
The shitter.
The shittling.
So, okay, so then Tori is...
What about Miguel and Sam?
Okay, we can go with Miguel and Sam.
What do you want to say about it?
I thought, again, that was awesome that Miguel was in a position of his, that theme again of
letting go, but also that he's like, no, you know what? I'm going, I'm going to go the opposite
route of Nicholas Cage from the family man. And I'm going to come to the airport. And I know he
flew off, but I'm going to go and join you in Okinawa for at least a few weeks, it seemed like.
But I thought that was, again, just a touching ending to their storyline.
that was actually one of the things I gravitated towards in season one was their relationship.
And also I think that was a big thing that Miguel, that karate taught Miguel was confidence.
And that's how, you know, obviously he's a good guy too in season one.
And he's always been a good person.
But that's why Sam gravitated towards Miguel was because he's such a good person.
And karate helped get that confidence out of him to where he could ask someone out like Sam.
But again, the chemistry and the interactions between them, like I've always loved that.
relationship and I love that
that she was wearing
his necklace with the octopus because I was
such a obviously I love that this show
too has created it's so nostalgic
nostalgia rather you know it's good work
yeah you get naturally nostalgic and stuff and that
that's a third through line for those two
also to just I will let
you guys talk really quickly in a
second about about
about no no about
last co-racat I know I will let
you guys get to to Miguel
and
And Sam, in a sec, but I got to say, like, I really did not care for that whole Miyagi, Daniel questioning.
I mean, I thought it was, like, effective in what they were trying to say.
But I didn't personally care for it, even on the rewatch here with part one and part two.
I think it's a worthwhile thing to do.
I just think that the time they crushed it into kind of does it a disservice a little bit in the moment of those parts.
Yeah, but I thought the payoff, but I think what I appreciated about the payoff,
was that it didn't take that moment for Daniel
to forgive Mr. Miyagi
and to like reinvigorate his trust in him.
Like he already had done that
when he had that whole dream
with the skeletons and all that.
It's the reward after the growth is already completed.
Like if that moment would have happened,
I still would have, okay?
Now that's every character.
Yeah.
That's what you just said.
It's everyone gets the reward after they've grown.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, but that's what I appreciate it about.
As cool as it was like that he revealed like,
okay Miyagi it's not about like
I know the man that that taught me
and the man I loved and the man that was my
my father basically so
I don't need like this I mean
the fact that I know it was for a good cause
why he had to like do
what he did here to get
these Pearl Night like it's a very sentimental thing
but the fact that he again forgave Miyagi
and his worldview of him was not shattered
before he found this out I appreciate it
but it is tempered and I like that they check
in on that too it's like his through that
Danny I think is the one who says that thing about like
Even Senses are just people going through stuff.
And that is crucial to serving that theme for him.
But then also showing that things may not always be what they appear to be.
Yeah.
Especially, you know, when being reported.
I mean, there's a little bit of just that historical context.
Like, of course there's a newspaper clipping of like,
oh, this violent guy came in an attack because, you know,
given that little bit of history with, you know, the camps and the war and all that stuff, you know,
there's a slant.
So, yeah, you know the person you knew, and sometimes an outside account is valid and will give you, you know, some tough tempering on them.
But sometimes, especially in a situation like this, it might not be what it appears.
And you do have to balance it with what you know in your heart to be that person.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Robbie and Tori being able to have these actual thriving careers.
Awesome.
That's just really great to.
because they have had so much emotional struggles
and they've been so broke
so to see them get a massive financial opportunity
and to be told for so long like this is all I have
is on and again like what we just said
Robbie gets reward after growth yeah and
he because of how he grew as a person he's rewarded for this
and like how you pointed out with the they don't I don't
explicitly say it but there is
aspects to the impact of them like as a couple and the crowd losing their shit over it of like why they would want to see them together uh pulling this off i don't know why mcgale wasn't approached but
you only get approached by one person and it is stanford for mcgill yeah yeah so did i was the old valley champion and he's now the psychicatian he should not be you should not be approached it's true
A massive career.
Massive, massive career.
That's interesting.
That is a question mark, isn't it?
I mean, you could feel, you could easily assume that it probably just is happening, but it does seem,
I get why they would spotlight that for Robbie and Tori thematically, but it is sort of
like, he's got a, he's got to.
He beat like this, this guy who everyone, like, who encounters goes out of their way to be
like, this dude's a machine and he's impossible to beat.
And you're on the world stage.
Yeah.
He must be getting sponsorships.
We don't, no one learns about Terry and Crease.
Right.
No one learns.
Yeah.
You just have Sensei Wolf going.
Where's silver?
We're silver.
And he looks really distraught by that.
Everyone with cobra guy, I don't know, I feel like that's pretty much like everything that's
Stingray.
You got Stingray back for a good joke.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's really funny how much that this show in particular.
go to the season really goes out of its way
to honor Rocky
like they really and maybe that is in tribute
to the director like you said
John G. Avlinson. But he only directed one and five
he didn't he directed one
in five yes
yes and the first
I was agreeing I can be you two
he's directed one and five
and I mean but one did start
at all sure but yeah they really like
go out of their way to honor
especially Rocky two and this
when when the mom when
when um oh my god totally my gunner name
johnny's wife carman carman says
when it's a straight up tribute to rocky too
and then they just call it out here
you know that the kids running and stuff
yeah the change of the valley
and that's the other part is that
i'm sorry i like the open-endedness of it
with so many things because
one part of me is going ah well if you bring back
if you do some sequel show down the road which you totally
can uh what would it be without danny or johnny
and you go would you really want to see that
And then I'm like, well, I never thought I wanted to see a Johnny Lawrence show either.
Yeah, right, right.
And they pulled it off.
Like, so well.
Give it another 35 years, it'll be Miguel, start his own dojo now.
Yeah, and him and Sam are, like,
divorced, terrible, contentious, really washed up.
We do love all these other characters.
So, I mean, if they do one day down the pipeline, have a story.
I mean, obviously, I would be interested.
The penis breath will start.
Yes, exactly.
They do have a lot more characters to pull from
to create another, like, ensemble.
sequel if they wanted to.
Yeah, for sure.
And also to your point about Rocky.
Yeah, I mean, we did hear that one line from Gunther, the guy who's the in charge of
the psychiatry.
He said, we are huge fans of Rocky in my country.
And then also, I think Carmen at the hospital said, just do one thing for me, win.
So, yeah, I mean, they do love.
That's what I just referenced.
I was such in a rush to say something.
I don't listen.
That you're like, uh-huh.
It's in the back of my mind.
Guys, what other thing I know is, there's a lot of Rocky work in this season.
And also the best of the best.
I really, yeah, I really thought that they were going to play the rock.
I thought they were going to play the music from Bill Conti, who also does Rocky.
But he did the Karate Kid trilogy music.
I thought they were going to play that music when Johnny was going up against the Lewistan.
But I'm glad with the music that we did end up getting.
I think that would have been two on the news.
And I think with Daniel's arc, he really does seem like this is the closest he's done to becoming the most like Mr. Miyagi.
I agree with that.
That's a good call.
With his acceptance level, like, there's a true sense of, like, peace and tranquility to the way he exerts himself.
Exudes himself.
Like Zen at the end.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Beautiful to see.
Yeah, because you could see, like, when Cobra Kai did come back, like, he was completely out of center and not balanced.
There's falling apart, like, every season.
Whereas Mr. Miyagi, like, as Mr. Miyagi really hardly ever got that way, like, I mean, we had that one scene where he was a little drunk for totally understandable reasons. It was the anniversary of his wife. And also, too, like we saw in part two, like they were destroying his garden all that. Did he react? He said, no, let him do it. Like, I mean, he was always in that Zen approach. And, like, I think you just made a great point to see Daniel fully really embrace that and almost like become Miyagi in that moment.
I was really like cathartic as an audience like that's beautiful shit man yeah I love this final I love this final part at least I love this final part yeah which makes you love the final season yeah I love the series as a whole especially and it's it's unique it's very unique to do something that seems like it would just not be unique to it wanted to hit the soljevites but it's it's something there's nothing like it and and
and there's no way the new movie
can be anywhere near as good as the movie.
I don't know what to be serious.
It doesn't need to be as good as this
because that's an impossible task in my opinion.
It's impossible.
It's just a fact that's one movie alone.
Yeah, well, yeah, of course.
Just be a fun, good movie is all I'm looking forward to.
I hope it's fun.
It looks really serious.
I hope it's fun.
I didn't watch the trailer purposefully, so we shall see.
Are you boycotting it?
No, the movie or the trailer?
the both? The trailer, yes, the movie. No, I will be reacting to it with you guys.
I mean, I like the Jackie Chan one, Jaden Smith one. I know you don't, but I like it. It's not that
I dislike it. There are scenes in there that I really like. I don't want to spoil it for him.
There's one scene in there. I can't imagine what it would be about. There's one scene in there,
I think, is one of, if not the best scenes in the entire Karate Kid series and Kobraki series, I
would add too. But I just feel like there's a lot of scenes that are copy and pasted.
the original film without earning it with yeah just but i also said too if i didn't watch the
original and i just watched this one i would probably like this movie a lot more but maybe it's because
i'm biased and tied so much to the original i don't know but i would not say i dislike this movie i just
it just feels like a copy paste in so many different areas for me shots fired a jackie well you guys
hate the new karate kid like andrew yes thank you gregg
your thoughts down below hate comments for me um well yeah i give this season
I'll give this part three
a 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10 for part 10.
11 out of 10 for me.
That was beautiful. That was beautiful.
All right, guys.
Well, just like this show, we eventually got to say goodbye.
Cut the feet.
Cut the feet.
It's got to roughly
rude to the audience.
Thank you guys so much for joining us on this journey.
Please tell us down below what you thought of this final season of
Cobra Kai.
Did it stick the landing for you as strong as it did for us?
Much love to everyone here.
Be safe.
Be mindful.
Strike first.
Strike hard.
No mercy.
Anything else?
Balance defense as well.
Wax on, wax off.
Are you mad?
Hillary Swink didn't show up?
I am too.
That's my favorite one.
Where's Jaden Smith?
He's never seen it, but it's still his favorite one.
They say Hillary Swing for the movies.
Yeah.
They might.
You never know.
There we go.
Oh, God.
That's what the holiday doctor roll.
Just kind of make no sense if you think about it.
I feel like he said, Mr. Muggi had like one new promise.
and it's right she's like his promise she's a student
she's the next karate kid the only one in that
yeah you gotta think that like
Daniel must have heard of her in some way he probably
like loses marbles
what do you mean he had another student
what do you mean meant to someone
a whole other person
what did he teach you that might be
that might be a reaction for you before we do that one
oh god
it's all right
yeah ruin the karate kid for us before we watch
anyway we'll see you guys
