You got Pennywise who was in this movie, by the will. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:02 By the well, by the way. That was the 2017. It was the movie that got me into horror movies, which is a wild. Cool fact. So this also comes in black guys, too. Go check it out. So you need to get it. Get ready for the spooky season with some she jack gear.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Tara, we just watched Logan. And we watched, obviously, all the other X-Men films. And we watched the first Deadpool. What did you think about Deadpool, too? Oh, my God. It's so good. can't get over at like number one best writing in all the deadpoles like it's just the best freaking writing callback after callback and also like the heart in this movie they take time
Starting point is 00:02:42 to like set it up for him to talk about his family and sort of what he went through and then getting back to him with Vanessa's her name right Vanessa the do that scene at the end like I almost cried I'm sure Andrew was crying but like that got me. I think that the way that they can combine being like meta in the script, but also action adventure, being
Starting point is 00:03:07 very, very funny, also really grounded and have heart at the same time, like making you feel stuff. Like from the top, we were already like in our feelings and then we get to like, we get to work in this film, which I love.
Starting point is 00:03:24 All the characters are obviously amazing but the boy, he is a phenomenal standout actor and I know I've seen him in another film I think it's with a guy and a dog and he's in it I can't I don't know the name he does such a great job I just I honestly think that he
Starting point is 00:03:41 should have been like nominated for an award somewhere for this film he does such a great job and I loved the going back in the timeline the alternate ending where obviously I was like come on the kid doesn't have to kill him but someone's got to. One of them can and still keep the timeline
Starting point is 00:03:59 where the kid is saved. And I'm so glad that it was Do Pender. Like the writing in this movie is perfection. I love it. Thank you. I agree with you. I mean, because Dopender, we talked about all movies,
Starting point is 00:04:12 got to do something. So, yeah, in the end, justice was served, I guess, and that guy was just evil. I agree with a lot of what you said for sure. I mean, obviously, I was saddened by the fact that we didn't get Vanessa in, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:24 most of the film. Obviously, that was the whole motivation of the first film was getting back to Vanessa. You know, that was why he, you know, tried to get rid of the cancer and didn't want to die. And it's interesting, the juxtaposition in this film where it's like, no, I want to die now to be with Vanessa. So the contrast between the films, like, that's interesting as a writer, how you switch it up like that. Totally. Yeah. And, you know, you feel, obviously with after coming off of Logan, and I'm sure the writers obviously pay attention to that.
Starting point is 00:04:54 but that was interesting too seeing that now how you know because you have a broken down Logan and that and now with this with um with Wade you know he's finally gotten that zest for life like he's happy to be alive again and he's about to start a family with Vanessa and then after what happens to her like again he doesn't want to be alive understandably so like and I think like obviously the comedy is there and all the self references like which is chef's kiss it's great stuff and I love the balance there that's the most important thing to me is like they don't go too overboard it's it's all about balance and again if they did go a little overboard as long as I'm laughing and and being entertained great but it's the character stuff it's the drama like that I
Starting point is 00:05:34 was really like encompassed by and the stuff that was really hitting hard for me like yeah of course and that's why I like I was really like it was riveting for me and was making me and like you said just moving me and that's why I was crying in certain aspects especially when Vanessa passed away in the beginning yeah it's because I'm so invested in these characters if I was just laughing I'm I'm maybe just because I'm a softie, maybe I would still cry, but because I'm just, again, so invested in these characters. Like, I'm moved. I was moved to tears. But point being is, I love where they took Wade's character in this film. Like, again, depression closed off, wants nothing to do with people anymore, wants to end his life. Understandably so. And now he's got
Starting point is 00:06:14 this kid, again, doesn't want anything to do with at first. But then once he's got, you know, this interesting vision of seeing Vanessa and now, okay, this is my purpose in life. I've got to show this kid the right path in life so he doesn't go the wrong way. And after he's been abused, which I can understand again, they kind of went a little bit into him that his, he was, I guess maybe either physically or mentally abused by his father. So he's got a basic understanding of where this kid, like he said, he's been in his shoes. He understands where he comes from. He doesn't want this kid going down the wrong path.
Starting point is 00:06:44 And then obviously we get the whole cable aspect and angle. And I love how at first, if you don't know anything about the character in the comics, like they kind of show him off as kind of a villain. He's like the Terminator, if you will. He's there to assassinate someone in the past to change the future. And I love that angle that they go with like, he's a villain. And it's like, no, there's a lot more depth to this character once we get into the crux of why he's here. Once we get into his motivation. And I thought that was, again, just brilliantly edited and shown like, okay, this is why he's really here.
Starting point is 00:07:15 And I love that. And I just thought he was, again, he's just a very emotionally engaging character as well. And I thought Josh Rowland really gave off a lot of just depth and presence in his performance. Oh, yeah. He was great. He was great. And just a good counterbalance to like all the comedy and joy that we get with that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:33 He was our straight man. Yeah. And again, as funny as Wade can be too. But obviously there was some sadness in this with Wade as well because of what he's dealing with in the situation of losing Vanessa as well. So, but again, I thought there was a good contrast between him and Cable. And just also, too, we got to talk about Domino. She was awesome. I don't know the actresses name that played her, but she did a great job.
Starting point is 00:07:57 And her power is so cool, like having luck on your side. Agreed. Yeah, I don't know how you would write that as a comic book writer or even as a screenwriter, but the way they show it, it's like so well done. And again, the creative ways that they show her power when she's fighting people off in the hand in combat, it's like she's a badass. But then again, you come up with these creative ways. of how she beats people.
Starting point is 00:08:18 I'm like, oh, my God. It's so cool. Right. Showing us how lucky she is is great. Yeah. And she did a, she, I mean, yeah, awesome performance. Yeah. So, and obviously, too, I love that he did get to in that mid-credit scene.
Starting point is 00:08:32 He got to reverse the timeline. So obviously, Vanessa is now alive. Thank goodness. Yeah. Because I remember when I- love seeing that. Yeah, I love that too. Because I remember in the first time in the, when I saw the one time, rather, not the first time,
Starting point is 00:08:43 but the one time I did see this. I was like, what? How the whole first movie is about getting back to Vanessa. Right. How can you do this? Yeah. And again, the whole structure of the story. It made sense, but still like, don't do this to us.
Starting point is 00:08:58 The audience. We love Vanessa. And we love their relationship, their chemistry, their interactions. They're so perfect for each other. Yeah. So I'm glad that they, you know, they at least got a way to time travel back and he got to save her in the end. I remember like just, oh my God, thank God in the end.
Starting point is 00:09:14 So I was glad that they were able to rectify. and fix the situation in regards to that. So I'm curious to see what the ramifications are if there's any like consequences to that happening once we get to Deadpool and Wolverine. It's going to be interesting to see what happens as a result of that. Obviously, as you all know,
Starting point is 00:09:30 just repeating it one more time, we have not seen Deadpool and Wolverine. So we don't know what the ramifications or the consequences of going back in time and saving Vanessa, but it's going to be interesting to see, you know, because he's obviously wasn't supposed to do that.
Starting point is 00:09:44 I don't know what was if Cable was supposed to do even what he did. But again, it's going to be interesting to see everything unfold as it does. But obviously, we still got another two films. I'm going to get into the trivia in one sec. We still got another two films to do X-Men Dark Phoenix, which, by the way, that was such a freaking funny Easterakes.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Because they were filming with Malcovoy and all the actors that they had Evan Peters and Nicholas Holt. They had them all because they were filming Dark Phoenix right at the time that they were just finishing up Deadpool, too. So they probably just had them all. like here let's just shoot this really quick thing so great that was awesome i love that they did that but i'm assuming that we're going to be doing Deadpool and Wolverine first before we get to that film so definitely be on the lookout for that um terry do you have anything else you before i get to the trivia
Starting point is 00:10:31 that you'd like to add no i think we can get to the trivia i mean i love this movie i'm a big fan of the Deadpool and obviously Logan um and the x-men too but like this movie the writing and and the pacing, just everything about it, it's like I'm really glad that I've watched like Deadpool, Logan, Deadpool 2, almost like perfect movies, in my opinion. Yeah, for sure. And just really quick, the director, David Leich, Leite, I'm sorry if I'm mispronouncing. He was one of the producers on John Wick. I think he was the director, though.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Oh, the director of Bulletin, which had Brad Pitt in it. Of course, we got that funny cameo. I just wanted to point that out. Let's go into, though, the trivia here, if I can get it. Obviously, I'm not going to read any Deadpool and Wolverine and stuff. I will just stay away from that. At around the 20, excuse me, had around the 23-minute mark, the footage of the X-Men closing the door was shot on the set of X-Men Dark Phoenix
Starting point is 00:11:35 and sent over to the Deadpool 2 crew. That makes sense. Great. When Deadpool complains about Domino's powers, he says that it must have been the idea of an artist who can't even draw feet. Domino and Deadpool's co-creator Rob Lyle felt that's correct is widely mocked and criticized for avoiding drawing characters feet and hands. He reportedly loved that joke. I love it. Ryan Reynolds wrote Brad Pitt a love letter pitching the idea of a cameo to him and I quote, I just wrote him a letter and explained what it was we were doing. Reynolds said
Starting point is 00:12:06 and the sort of premise behind it was how do we what's the most wasteful way to use the biggest movie star in the world, and it was through a character that is largely invisible and worthless throughout the movie. He continued saying Pitt seemed to like the idea, and I guess Brad found that funny. We all found that funny, and he said, yes. And the next thing you know, he came and shot for about seven minutes. Reynolds added, according to screenwriter, Paul Wernick, Pitt jumped at the chance to appear in Deadpool 2. He immediately said, yes. Wernick told Heat Vision, per the Hollywood Reporter. It was a pinch me moment. Reynolds only had good things to say about Pitt. He's such a gentleman and such a funny, charming human being, and a parenthetical,
Starting point is 00:12:48 the biggest movie star on Earth, and that was pretty exciting for all of us. Wow, that's such a good story. Brad Pitt admitted that his small appearance satisfied his curiosity is when it came to the world of superhero cinema. I think I've taken it as far as I can take it. Pitt revealed to the MTV news about the role. Ryan Reynolds came up with the part that I could feel. I love it. Ryan Reynolds was at a dinner party with Matt Damon, pitched him the toilet paper manifesto and asked Damon if he wanted to play the part. Damon thought it was hilarious and greed to the cameo?
Starting point is 00:13:18 Matt Damon was in this? Did we see Matt Damon in it? Which part? I didn't see him. Oh, the toilet paper manifesto part. Is that maybe in the Pris? Maybe. I don't know. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I'll have to, before we finish, I'll just do a Google a picture. Maybe we can just type in Matt Dan. in Deadpool too. Then I'll show you before we finish off here. At around one hour and eight minutes, the gag where Deadpool stops cables bullet with a sword and then uses it to stop multiple bullets, only to realize many of them made it through to his body
Starting point is 00:13:52 was conceived by the stunt team. David Leich passed it on initially as being too comedic for a dramatic sequence, but when he showed it to Ryan Reynolds, the actor found it hilarious. The entire sequence is a reference to an infamous scene in X-Men Origins Wolverine, where the watered-down version of Deadpool also played
Starting point is 00:14:08 by Reynolds successfully deflected many bullets in the way. We called that. The film takes many pot shots at the Barbara Strysan film, Yentel, which came out in 1983. Strysan is Josh Brolin's stepmother in real life. Although the fact would have been a perfect subject for another meta joke at Brolin's expense, the maker stated on the commentary track that they completely forgot to include it, wondering how that was completely overlooked.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Oh my God, that's his stepmother? Yeah. Holy junk, dude. At around 16 minutes, it was Ryan Reynolds who noticed the similarity between Papa, can you hear me? From Yentel and, do you want to build a snowman from Frozen? You want to build a snowman. At around 58 minutes over the childish doodle that is Deadpool's action plan, you can notice that the DMC prison sports a drawing of Wolverine tagged Prisoner 2 4601. That's Jean Valjean's prisoner number and Les Miserables played mostly recently by Hugh Jackman.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Yeah, I love that. That's such a good Easter egg. Roland signed a four film deal to play cable and described his appearance here as just the introduction for the character with three more movies to reveal more. Cool. It was a shitty impression right, Tara.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Yeah, I wasn't, not great, but you tried. At least Tara's honest. That's why I love her. He tried. At around one hour and 27 minutes while fighting juggernaut, Deadpool, mockingly recites, Hey, Big Guy, the sun's getting real low.
Starting point is 00:15:32 This is a mantra used to calm down the Hulk in Avengers Age of Ultron. Yeah, you called that. where that line was said by Reynolds' ex-wife, Scarlett Johansson. Oh, my God. I forgot that they were married. Yeah, that's true. They were. Holy to Molly, they were married. Yep. All right, I'll do three more. Does that sound good?
Starting point is 00:15:49 Sure. At around the 27-minute mark, when we first see Russell, one of the headlines in the news ticker below reads, Christopher Plummer refuses roll in Deadpool 2. That's funny. Although it's nearly impossible to catch during the movie, Ryan Reynolds tweeted a picture of the bottom of Deadpool's two katanas on each swords handle the words Bia and Arthur are engraved in gold, though in the opening sequence these are clearly visible as the swords are floating past Deadpool. Oh, cool. Deadpool slash Wade and Cable are the only characters in the film that break the fourth wall.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Cable seems to be the only one who notices when Deadpool Wade is talking to the audience. love that yeah yeah all right um let me just show you really quick a picture of if mad damon was missed it oh we must have missed it surprised we did but apparently we both didn't but let's see matt damon deadpool two let's see oh my god that was matt damon Oh my God I can't even you can't even Recognize how did you if you guys recognize him Then you got better eyes and tear him I saw
Starting point is 00:17:08 Oh my goodness Zooming because we're in 4K There's I there's no way Like you barely see his face Good disguise he's mostly in profile And like obviously his body does not look like This is so amazing That was with the balls truck
Starting point is 00:17:26 I love this that's insane I never would have noticed if we didn't read that in trivia. I'm sure we would have heard about it in the comments, but I never would have noticed that. Yeah, that's awesome. Love that. That's crazy when you can put a superstar in a movie and not even freaking notice. Not know it.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Oh, my God. Good on the makeup team. Jesus. Yeah, I love it. Anyways, if you guys are still listening, we appreciate it. I know Tara does. I do as well. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the next. one is Deadpool and Wolverine. We've made it, guys. We have been waiting. You don't even understand that when it drops and everyone, all of my best friends are like, I'm going again to see it. I've seen it six times. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:18:12 And I'm like, shut up. They're not allowed to say anything. They already know the rejects. No, they're not allowed to say anything to us, even about just any of it. And my friends as well. So we have waited so long. It feels like we've been in prison. And I cannot wait.
Starting point is 00:18:28 That's true. Yeah, anyways, if you don't want to miss that reaction, don't forget to. Ring the bell. Ring the bell. That way you are notified when it drops in any of our other reactions on the channel and also the rest of the films that we're going to do after that we're going to do. In regards to just the X-Men journey that we're on because we still got to do. Don't forget that as well.
Starting point is 00:18:47 But we do also need to finish up the rest of the journey after Deadpool and Wolverine with X-Men, Dark Phoenix and with New Mutants, a film I have never seen on top of Deadpool and Wolverine. so I definitely want to finish off the journey. So, guys, this was a blast. Thank you if you're still here. We love you. And we shall see you next on Deadpool. Bye.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Wolverine. Later. Fleb Doran. What an exciting time to be able to shout you out here at the Deadpool 2, Patreon. Shout out. I like to think that you are someone who's at least I love to slap any time of the day. Because Flev, you are just one sexy, hungry. of a man.
Starting point is 00:19:29 You're us. Flev, I would like to oil you down and rub on your pecks. I can do this impression, too. Sort of. I love to pet you, Flev. Oh, let's all pet you, Flev. Oh, Big Bang.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Oh, Peg Bang. Oh, Flev, Peck and. By the door in. Whoa. Open the floodgates, Flev. Open the flev gates. And then, you know, we'll get Do your best cable impression.
Starting point is 00:19:56 You got. Flev. I'm grumpy. Flev, I'm going to come back in time and try and kill you. Cable. I don't know. It's the Thanos. I thought you like Flov.
Starting point is 00:20:13 I do like Flev. What's this bullshit you're doing? It's not a good impression of cable. I'll tell you that much. I can kind of picture Josh Brolin in my mind's eye, but I just can't get past the image of Flev that I'm always thinking about to get to the impression.
Starting point is 00:20:29 I'm sorry, Flev. September's a shit month for you now. I'm sorry, buddy. Ruin the whole thing. We'll see you next month.
