This week's videos are brought to you by Rocket Money,
a personal finance app that I've been using since way before we partnered with them.
More on them soon.
All right.
Oh my God.
What did I think?
I love this movie.
Shut up.
This was great.
This was entertaining from the top to the bottom.
Also, I love the vending machine.
I love that Agnes is there.
You know, the only one thing that I was sad about
is when she saw the fluffy cereal.
I want her to say,
oh my God, it's so fluffy, I want to die!
Because that's the line.
I remember that.
You guys are like, she doesn't remember anything,
and I agree with you,
except I remember that.
Okay? I love this movie. I thought it was great. Except Maxime, whatever, he was there. He was mostly there, I think, for the callback of the prison, which was great in the song.
Because we did kind of forget about him a little bit. And he's kind of just another grew, but a cockroach.
But it was nice to see him fight him. And I'm glad that Dr. Nefario was back to fix the baby because I didn't want to see the baby become a cockroach.
Even if he was not evil, no.
this was the one that felt like an action comedy sketch yeah you know because i i felt like i had a dream
and i dreamt a despicable me movie because it was funny it was so wild there's so many things
from the previous one from the previous three movies that i remember thematically that they
touch on a lot which is you know family themes primarily being the the root of it and while there's
some of that in the DNA of this.
It's not really the story, like,
at all here. Right.
Like, even with Margo going to school
and being shy and picked on, they don't have, like,
a resolution to that. They don't.
They move right on from it.
It's just like a funny little thing that happens.
A little bit comes in with the baby
realizes the baby has an arc.
The baby realizes, I love this guy.
He's my dad. Like, the baby has a cute little
arc and it's fun.
Because those kids already had their arcs
in the past movies.
Yeah.
Yeah, with like them as a whole family unit and then her and then even the mom trying to, Lucy, trying to fit in in this suburban lifestyle and not really being able to adapt.
It's just like jokes are happening.
But in the most high octane kinetic way from beginning to end, like, Gru has more of a bonding time with the random little girl who lives next door than his own family in this movie.
Agreed.
but I'd be lying if I said like this was not like is it the best one I don't think so but is it like in terms of an actual movie it turns of an actual movie and story probably not but it's so entertaining so entertaining though it's so like visually crazy and just keeps playing this game of tops with itself with all these visual gags and action scenes and the comedy was relentless like it was nonstop like wow this is you know what happened?
They made the three despicable me movies, and then they took the minions, which are not really like characters.
And they had to figure out how to make characters out of them.
And then they threw them into this, like, zany-ass world.
And then I feel like from what they took lessons from minions, and then they had plighted it to this despicable me movie.
Where they're just like, we're going to have the energy of a minions movie on this despicable me film right now.
Right, because it moved, it moved a lot faster.
And I didn't, I didn't mind that we didn't have.
have the really, but we did get a parched, a little heartfelt moment between him and the son and he's like, Dad loves you so much. It was super sweet. And the baby like malfunctions, becomes a kid again. That was kind of the heart that we got versus like back in the earlier movies, we got way bigger heart with Agnes and all the kids. And I cried. Like it touched me so much. And that's what I think you're saying in regards to like a movie like that. Like normally I search for those types of movies that have this and the adventure and the comedy. But they also.
have that sort of like dark night of the soul and it comes back up and they they have a
touching moment and it like it's so sweet we still got that a little bit here which i still really
liked but we kind of didn't have time to really like stay there for a long time because we
we were just moving so fast yeah they just cared about like craziness like this is the craziest
despicable me movie agreed undoubtedly and there are things that i feel like they maybe wanted to do
It seemed like way too apparent how similar this villain was to Gru, especially Gru's early days.
Yeah, he had the same type of whatever.
His cockroach plane is like Gru had the same type of plane.
He's got the cockroach instead of minions.
Yeah, that looked like little minions.
He's trying to hold in my hand.
I am a married man.
His office looked the same.
His dungeon.
Yeah, I agree.
There's a whole lot.
And then they didn't do anything.
We're like, oh, he's just a bad guy.
Right.
I thought they were setting up this whole thing of there's going to be some type of arc that happens with them.
Like, this is the one that felt the most like a sketch to me.
I agree, because we thought that maybe they would end up friends because they're so similar.
But then maybe they do after they sing the song in prison.
I don't know.
That's what I mean?
They just sing a song in prison together.
It's just like so weird.
This is such a weird one to me, but I really enjoyed it because it was so funny.
So fun.
And I love that they ended on that song, which is, don't think.
always end on a song, the minions movies? I think so. Yeah, it just brought a type of life, a type of
energy, and it was, it was a hundred. It was peddled to the metal the whole time. Yeah. And I love
that. And I actually really liked. I like it more than three, that's for sure. Oh, way more than
three. Yeah, like even as a story. Like it more than three. Yeah. Yeah. Get three out of here and
keep this one in. Yeah. For sure. Three was the only hard one. And the tennis,
match was great because it wasn't like, oh, they were going to fight with like the rich guy.
They're going to play tennis.
Gru's going to look bad and go, oh, I do my comedy now.
I'm just getting used to this from camp.
It's like, no, send a minion in because now we know how to utilize them from the films
that we made.
And it's funny, without any words, it's all they need.
It's a lot of miming.
Reject Nation, I just want to take a quick second to thank today's sponsor because as a business
owner, I am surprisingly not the greatest at handling.
in tracking finances. It just doesn't come naturally to me. I can definitely have an oversight
when it comes to certain things. And I'm sure you can relate with this. I hate the feeling of paying
for something that I just haven't thought about in a while or worst. I just keep forgetting to
cancel. Procrastination is the name of the game. And that's why, before we ever partner with
today's sponsor about a year and a half ago, I started using Rocket Money. I'm glad to have this
ongoing partnership with them because I already used their product. So it just makes it a win-win.
But seriously, they've been a lifesaver. Rocket Money is a personal finance app that simplifies managing
money by canceling unnecessary subscriptions, lowering bills. Rocket money does the heavy lifting
by analyzing your spending, then customizes notifications to help you stay within your budget
goals. Over 74% percent, not 75, 74% of people forget about subscriptions they don't use.
I was paying for things I don't even remember subscribing to. Free trials will do that.
One of the best things about Rocket Money, they found those things and canceled them for me effortlessly.
What I really love about Rocket Money is organization. It puts everything in one place. Imagine just
seen all your subscriptions and with just a tap, you're able to cancel the ones you don't want.
It even compares your spending month to month keeping you on track for more financial success.
Money's the name with the game.
Rocket Money can also negotiate lower bills for you up to 20%.
With over 5 million users and over $500 million saved and cancel subscriptions, it's helped
people save up to $740 a year.
Join the Rocket Money community and stop wasting money on things you don't use.
Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to.
to rocketmoney.com slash rejects.
That's rocketmoney.com slash rejects.
It's a great way to support the channel
and a great way to support your bank account.
Heck, it would even just help us out
if you wanted to just click the link
and poke around.
Generous thing that you could do
for us and for you.
It's a win, win.
It's a lot of miming, which is great.
I feel like there's no real story
in this room.
When you think when you look back at it,
yeah.
Like there's no real like inner conflict in the family.
There's no arc for grew.
There's none of that.
Unless I'm totally missing something.
Oh, no, there is.
It's between, because the kid, it finally calls dad, dad, da, like him and the kid didn't bond.
I feel like the- That's the only art.
I feel like the kid had an arc.
Yeah, you're right.
Because the group that's felt the same about his baby the entire time.
Yeah, I know.
But there wasn't like some conflict with the family.
There wasn't anything with Lucy.
There was nothing about like.
Well, there's an arc with the little red-headed girl.
But you're right.
The rest of the family, no.
Like, nothing about this.
Because I was really enjoying the idea of them having to.
try to live as normal people, but are completely failing at it.
But I thought there might be some lesson that there's nothing they learn in here.
Yeah, it's like that, oh, we're actually meant to be villains and not like good people.
Yeah, there's missing some of these story beats.
Yeah.
But it makes up for it and truly just being like an entertaining-ass film.
It is just so entertaining.
It's funny because I guess the part of a story that we got was that grew up.
obviously did, even though he didn't say it out loud, he missed his villain days because
when he's there with the redheaded girl.
That's what I thought was going to do, yeah.
Right?
And then we thought that maybe at the end, maybe he would talk to Lucy and be like, I kind
of miss it.
I don't know.
Or maybe he would end up being like, oh, I'll be your partner.
Maybe they're just setting us up for that that maybe in the next film we'll see the redheaded
girl become a big villain and she gets to work with Drew because Gru taught her everything.
I don't know.
Or that this lifestyle is leading his family into too much danger and he has to give it all.
up. I thought that's, I thought that was one spot where they might actually be going that way.
Right.
It was, okay, I see like, we have to hide and my baby's getting kidnapped.
I thought that maybe it was headed down a path of, I need to retire this because it's not
safe for me to be a dad and do all this stuff.
Yeah, but not so much.
No, they don't do anything with that stuff.
They don't do any of that.
Maybe the writers are all like, that's too predictable.
We're not doing anything instead.
No one's going to predict that.
Oh, oh, why are, why are him and cockroach villains?
Oh, we got to go back to the time he sang a song.
It's a good callback.
That's what you do in improv.
You're like, okay, what can I pull?
What would make the biggest callback in regards to, like, what was said and what was heard?
And you're like, yeah, it's the song.
Oh, my God, there's so much trivia.
We've got to go through it.
Okay, let's go through it.
Much like Indespicable 3-3.
Agnes is recast once again to do to age requirements.
Really?
They recast it.
Only Agnes?
Oh, because Agnes is so young.
She's very, very young.
She's very young.
So cute.
We're a guru and his family break into the castle.
The plaque on the desk reads Principal Ubel Schlecht.
This translates as Principal Bad Bad Bad.
Ooh, I did catch this.
During the chase scene in the supermarket,
the Terminator theme saw it could be heard
in a character scene running like the T-1000.
Sweet.
So true.
I actually hate this fact.
In addition to being an NBC Universal IP,
the despicable me ride took over the building
from the Terminator Ride at Universal Studios.
Oh, yeah.
Did you ever go on the Terminator Ride at Universal?
I did.
Yeah, of course.
That was amazing, so much better than the minions one.
I agree.
The minion one is just a 3D thing.
It's not great.
Oh, my God.
The Terminator 1 was amazing.
I can't believe I swapped that out.
They really should bring that back.
Oh, my God.
This is costing $100 million the most expensive film in the franchise.
It's also the most expensive illumination film tied with Super Mario Brothers movie.
I mean, based off of what they did animation-wise, it kind of makes sense.
It makes absolute sense.
During the scenes where the minions are eating in the AVL break room, a newscast can be seen playing on the televisions after mega-minion Mel
destroys a satellite in space with this giant laser.
The televisions all display black static,
presumably because they lost signal connected
to the now broken satellite.
Oh, because he cut it in half.
Okay.
That's a great attention to detail.
Yeah, very detailed.
Longest mark between Despicable Me movies.
Okay.
It says Will Ferrell voices Maxim LaMalle
did the voice of Megamine in the movie
with the same name,
which was released the same year as the first Despicable Me in 2010.
Megamine, 2010.
had the same main plot of supervillain
protagonist turned good.
I was thinking that.
Have you seen Mega Mine?
I haven't.
Amazing film.
Oh, maybe I have.
That's amazing.
I bet you guys are going to come in the comments
be like, you watched it on the channel.
No, no, no, I watched it by myself here.
I watched it by myself here.
These are getting low likes.
You're in the low-likes section.
Cruz mother had a cameo, but did not speak.
Great fact.
Hold on a second.
Shush, shush.
Glit.
Be quiet.
Why don't you go to spoilers?
Where's this, aren't we in the spoilers?
You've got to go down to spoilers and click, no.
Spoilers.
See, there you go.
Under the end of the movie, all the villains from all the despicable movie movies can be seen.
Yes.
We saw that.
Elastic Mania saves the train, just like Tom McGuire, caught that.
Drew's brother, Drew makes a camey at the end of the movie.
We saw that too.
The final shot between Maxine and Gru and the prison previously, the musical numbers taken from the music video.
Tears for fears, head over heels, really.
Huh.
Okay. I know some of these were not.
Okay.
Those weren't really like big spoilers because we caught all those.
All right. Cool.
Well, yeah, I thought that was a really entertaining time.
And could have been better as like narrative.
Yeah.
Sure. But when you show up to.
Wow, those visuals were amazing.
Like the aerial stuff and they're in the sky with the plane and you're like lower.
Like that was so much.
It was awesome.
Camera moves.
Great tracking shots when they followed the minions in the office.
Just one long tracking shot.
It was very inventive the whole time.
awesome it was like madcap inventiveness agreed so i i enjoyed the voice of it in the flavor
yeah and as a as a as a one-off experience in the sycambo-me franchise but if they do another
one they probably should like get a proper story down i agree go go back to one get pull from that
because that's such a great heartfelt little one and two exactly we'll pull from one and two and
two and put that in with this one and we'll be golden we'll be golden we'll be golden baby we've been
flying into sky make sure you like this video share it leave us a comment
