Jennifer Carpenter (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) stars as Debra Morgan, torn between professional duties and personal instincts. Lauren Vélez (Oz, Ugly Betty) portrays Lt. Starting point is 00:01:11 It is a task, and we appreciate all their hard work. As always, and unfortunately, we don't have questions today because this was bumped up on the schedule. So apologies about that. But yeah, this was awesome two episodes of crazy. to say the least I'd be an understatement on both the key lime pie in the previous one with Camilla and then of course this one letting letting the beast loose and finding out possibly the tree trimmer killer and Anton and how to cut corners with the that other cop Mr. Cadillac man but John Quinn sorry you John how are you feeling though oh my goodness gracious
Starting point is 00:01:53 I'm feeling all kinds of things yeah like these two episodes felt like somehow I feel like we watched three episodes I know it did kind of feel like that yeah not for the time it's not like it dragged but yeah just like the amount of things that happened and the amount of stories we were appearing in on because obviously
Starting point is 00:02:11 stuff with Camilla I love that they allowed that thread to kind of grow like she only appears once or twice in the first season and the second season she pops back up a couple times and then this season she's been like a supporting guest star who has showed up you know like
Starting point is 00:02:28 as more than just a bit player someone who's like really a part of this season and I thought that was just such a I mean it's heartbreaking and it's very sad in a lot of ways but there's also like a beauty and it's a kind of thing I never imagined they would add to Dexter's character so I really like that
Starting point is 00:02:48 I mean again all the strange feelings you know that it is wrapped up in I just thought that was really striking and the whole motif with the pie itself and the debate about whether or not to, you know, do this thing that, yeah, there are several moral qualms to be had with. And yet it does seem like this very merciful thing and something that certainly illustrates the fact that Dexter might not be entirely, as he often, you know, portrays himself empty. And so, yeah, there's like a tenderness there that his unique, you know, orientation, his way of doing things, you know, allows for that it, you know, it wouldn't for most people.
Starting point is 00:03:29 So I thought that was really interesting. And then, yeah, everything with Deb, Anton, Quinn, all that stuff. I am very worried for Anton, most certainly. You know, I'm glad that there was a little bit of a respite at the very end for Dexter and Rita after everything. And then, you know, obviously Miguel Prado, you know, really getting to these, you know, crucial moments where he is stepping into and fueling, you know, the dark that is with. him and that he you know has kind of seen in dexter and dexter yeah as you as you pointed out kind of taking on the hairy role for him and you know because Miguel Vrato is new to this but he's also you know clearly an impassioned guy and a guy who doesn't like to as he said be told no he doesn't like to wait like yeah it gives you this sort of interesting window into what Harry must have been dealing with even though Miguel is his own person with his own specific you know vibes and nuances still it's a fascinating It remains a fascinating array of things that they've given Dexter as a character to contend with and to, you know, bounce off of. And, yeah, this was a momentous couple episodes to return on.
Starting point is 00:04:38 How are you feeling, my friend? Really saddened, actually. I mean, it was a great two episodes. I'm going to get pretty personal here. And first, I just want to say, like, I felt Camilla's pain, not only because I just went through it literally. And I'll get into that momentarily. but also too I'm sure some of you have heard me say in the past
Starting point is 00:04:57 John knows this and everyone on the team here knows this Greg and John have experienced this with me or have seen me experience this I have these they're like cluster headaches or something where I experience the worst kind of pain the doctors have told me it's like the same pain as
Starting point is 00:05:13 as a bullet shot wound so yeah it's I would say the best way I would describe it as you guys know when you have a brain freeze when you drink something cold or have like ice cream or something cold you know what I mean? And you know that 10 or 15 seconds where it's unbearable, but you know it's going to go away in about anywhere from 10 to 20 seconds. Well, when I get this pain right here below my eyebrow and the right side of my eye, when I get it, it doesn't go away in 10 to 20 seconds. It
Starting point is 00:05:37 stays and it is unbearable. Fortunately, for me, when I get it, the only thing that gets rid of it is oxygen. I have three tanks. I put on an oxygen mask. And knock on wood, I have not had it in almost two years now. I'm on a lot of medications, which I don't like, and I'm scared that one day I'm going to have to pay the price for all these medications I'm on to keep it away, but I don't care
Starting point is 00:06:03 because it's so painful. I will do anything to keep it away. So resonating on the point of is Camila, right? Camilla, yeah. resonating on the point of where she was coming from, like, please, I'll do anything to make the pain stop.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Like, I just cannot endure it anymore. I could totally understand where she's coming from because when I'm experiencing this pain on these cluster headaches or whatever they are that I get, I call them attacks, honestly, when they happen. Obviously, I don't want to not be alive and I prefer to live. But in the moment when I'm having them, I will do anything to make the pain go away. So I totally could relate to where she was coming from when she was dealing with that pain and was like, I will do anything to make this pain go away. It's totally understandable. And then when I'm talking about also getting more personal and how I was relating to,
Starting point is 00:06:57 I just literally experienced this with my own father, where he did not want to get chemo. And I'm not going to get into the entire story, but I would just say that he was on a ventilator and on a lot of tubes, and he was still of sound in mind, and he could communicate with us. He had a trigonostomy, so he could not speak verbally anymore, but he was completely of sound in mind, and he could communicate with, you know, head signals, you know, shaking his head and nodding. So when we let him know that the oncologist let him know that they were ready to do chemo within a few hours, which is what we kind of agreed to before that. He was not having, I think he was in such pain, and he realized his quality of life is not the same anymore, and he
Starting point is 00:07:41 didn't want to be, you know, on ventilators and tubes and all that. And like, I, of course, wanted him to still physically be in this world, but also I understand, like, the pain and suffering he was going through. So, you know, been told, like, there's not, because he's refusing chemo and he's of sound in mind, there's nothing medically they could do anymore. So it's like this episode, it's like I just literally kind of live this in real life. Obviously, I, you know, I didn't get my father a key lime pie with sodium, menthol or whatever, you know, Dexter game. but again, just the whole idea of it of someone in so much pain and suffering.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Like there were two different levels of resonation for me. I'm just like, I understand that pain and also I just lived through it with my own father. So like from that perspective, like it was very relatable and really touching and sat at the same time. And also to the reveal that
Starting point is 00:08:32 she knew the entire truth about Biny or Brian rather and she knew that and she knew what Dexter was, but also like she also saw the good in him and I thought that was really endearing and sweet as well and really believed in him
Starting point is 00:08:48 and when it came to Miguel like I still fascinating enough I know he's like a really bad influence on Dexter and like kind of even though Dexter has now unleashed the beast on him but I still love their chemistry
Starting point is 00:09:05 and I love their messed up their messed up relationship is so much fun to watch even though again it's so messed up but they're so good together Jimmy Smith's and I'm so blanky right now and Michael Michael Seahall
Starting point is 00:09:20 thank you so much. Sorry my mind is just all mushy right now from the previous week and month but yeah their chemistry is just off the charts and I really love their interactions Rejectation this shirt you can find it at rejagnation shop dot com along with

Starting point is 00:10:53 Thank you. And yeah, just to watch him like literally become a darker version of Dexter because he does not really abide by a code as we saw on that cliffhanger.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Like he's what Dexter could be. become if he didn't have a code and now watching like dexter try to be in that hairy role is it's really it's it's it's interesting so yeah you got to walk that fine line there so uh i think you know these two episodes really dramatic and and fascinating and then i really love how they've taken i think it's all about for me when it when it comes to romantic relationships in in movies or tv shows i don't mind if they if they happen quickly as long as like i i really feel it and i buy it but i do love how in in this uh season with anton and with deborah they've really taken their time like it's believable to me and i really like their chemistry as well in their interactions
Starting point is 00:11:52 and also to see that quinn he's a he's an interesting character as well uh and it's again like his character was saying there's it's not all black and white there's a lot of gray area because Like, I believe Yuki, and then to hear that whole story about how he was explaining with, like, he knew that the guy was, you know, on meth or whatever, and, like, he said, like, he was a friend and he could, like, things we could have done, because we all have, like, things we regretting in the past. And I wish I would have done that and I could have done this, because, you know, there's a million things I've said about that, stuff like that in my past. So on things we do because we think we're protecting. Yeah, totally, totally. But I'm, God, I'm so curious to see where we. go in these next couple episodes
Starting point is 00:12:36 I'm so scared for Anton right now especially we saw the trees were trimmed I'm hoping it's a fake out and something like I don't know it could really be in mortal danger and that did not look good for that lawyer Ellen Wolf or whatever
Starting point is 00:12:52 at the end there that was a quite a crazy cliffanger I mean again not only with the way it ended but he literally had a dead pan dead stare on his face like he it literally looked like the the dark passenger had been completely unleashed in that moment you know all power and control at all that so i it does not look very good for her coming into the next episode i wouldn't imagine i i could imagine too like even if he doesn't say anything to next her would they wait another episode too before they actually reveal what happened and then i'm sure leguerta's going to be like where the hell is ellen wolf or whatever her name is yeah where's my new best yeah yeah know that so lots of fascinating things going on and i would also imagine too like miguel and
Starting point is 00:13:43 sill is that her in his wife's name i can imagine that relationship getting much more strained as well and i would not be surprised i know i've said this before at the very beginning of the season especially now is you know he's the dark passenger has been unleashed with miguel i probably wrong i usually am on most predictions and I'm happy to admit that I really would not be surprised if Miguel and LaGuarda like hook up it because they do have a previous relationship back in the past and all that but now that things are really starting to get strained between him and still and there's a great distance between them I would not be surprised but we will see it's going to be curious to see imagine Ellen Wolf gets killed LaGuerza is all like broken up about it yeah Miguel goes to comfort her diabolical yeah and then when she learned and then when she learns the truth oh god this is great they're setting up the stakes really well they really are i love angel oh yeah that was great i really like the developments with them it's it's a really nice shot of just endearing and sweet storytelling alongside all the you know more twisted and depraved things and just the way they both
Starting point is 00:15:02 played that that that was great yeah and i love how too the whole like they started off with the just friends angle and then like the the way uh how angel handled it you know he didn't take it personally although he was saddened by it he played it off so smoothly and he and he was very yeah and he was very sensitive to it and then also like that's how he won her heart and it was almost like a like remember she tested him earlier with that having that other girl who was like either worked for the department or whatever or a friend or whatever oh yeah yeah so like he's just He's just passing all the tests. I will say this, though, after watching these two episodes,
Starting point is 00:15:36 I do have one thing to say. Fucking Albert Chung. Albert Chung, man, that's son of a bee. Damn it. Making my man Vince look back. Yes. They look like each other. How can he do that to Vince?
Starting point is 00:15:49 No, dude. Come on. At least he's in custody now. Yeah, right? Well, I mean, unless Miguel goes into the prison and, you know, goes in cognito mode and does something to him. Got to unleash the beast. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:04 With Miguel anymore. Who knows? Nobody's safe, I feel like right now. He's headed for a turn, and obviously, you know, this was episode seven and eight. So we're heading into the... Oh, we got nine, ten, eleven, twos. We have four more, yeah. We're headed into the final act of the season.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Yeah. And, yeah, the stakes is high, and I'm very much enjoying, yeah, the twisted... It's fun, because, yeah, season two had a lot of twisted internal stuff and a lot of very, like, wild and kind of messed up relationships where and this has that too but in a totally different way it's like the irony of like dexter having this friend who he can like bro out with and he can confide in and he can mentor with harry's code and yet so like it's weird they everything except the killing part is like kind of nice as then you realize that like you know miguel prado has some level of you know bloodlust or desire to enact some kind of justice by his own design. For sure. Yeah, it's an interesting. Again, they're good at, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:07 surprising, at least me with these season-long arcs. Yeah. And the way, like, the dark passengers are just born from trauma in the past. Because with Dexter, you know, you had, like, the homicide of his mother and witnessing in that.
Starting point is 00:17:21 And then with Miguel, it comes from an abusive father and having to witness that. And, like, he just wanted to take back control. Kind of the same thing with Dexter. So, yeah. It's like two guys with the opposite dads and the same urge. Yeah, yeah. No, it's fascinating how those same,
Starting point is 00:17:39 but those same kinds of urge is how it can be born from similar but different circumstances. Yeah, totally. Yeah, but, oh, man, I'm, wow, I can't wait to see the ending of this season. It's been a great season, though. Yeah, man. Great season. Any final thoughts you have about these episodes? I'm just nervous about Anton
Starting point is 00:18:02 I'm nervous about our guy George That whole bit with a dude they brought in And him being like oh my God No please please support me Yeah because he did not Yeah he wanted like he wanted to make sure he stayed He didn't take care of his son and his wife And then once he heard wait signor George
Starting point is 00:18:17 Yeah Get me the hell out of here Put me prison right now I know I'm always suss of everyone But right when that guy started like pointing him in another When he pointed the Deb in another direction and he was smiling about him like something like my my my my uh my my my uh my my my uh my my uh my my uh my my uh my uh was really going off at that point i'm like something is not right here you would make a good
Starting point is 00:18:41 detective no no no no no no no no no uh but i just like in that moment something was really off to be on that one so anyways um yeah great two episodes really um emotional really good stuff, great storylines. The characters are navigating towards crazy shit, as always, and I'm just curious what we're going to get here in the last four episodes. But obviously, without leaving any spoilers, let us know what your thoughts were on these next two episodes. I'm not going to say, what are you going to expect in these next four? Because I imagine most of you have seen the last four, but yeah, just maybe let us know what you thought of these two episodes. And yeah, I appreciate you guys sticking with us and uh we will be back is it nine 10 nine 10 right then 11 and 12 and 11 and 12
Starting point is 00:19:31 awesome well uh guys appreciate stay safe out there make sure to lock all the locks on your door stay away from the tree trimmers although all the tree trimmers who watch this channel we love you yeah we love your work on all trees everywhere yes uh anyways guys take care be safe Thank you.
