We got 12-9. minutes to talk about this thing you want to talk about let's talk about 12 minutes let's talk about let's do let's do it let's break it down what do what do you think what do you think what do you think I loved it yeah so cute I think it was so good I think that I still for me Roderick rules is number one you know how like I was smiling ear to ear the entire second movie you know that's just one that did it for me but this was really good I feel like this and the first one are on par with each other yeah I laughed a lot during this yeah this one was really funny

Starting point is 00:03:28 They kind of just, like, tell little things that they want to tell. It doesn't really go in a necessary order. It's just like, there's this issue, and there's the camping, and then there's the pools, and he's into the sister, and he's into her. Like, there's so much that they're doing, and it's all adorable. Yeah, it's a kind of a hangout movie, all three of them. The first one is about his best friend and his mom, and the second one's about his brother, and then this one is about his dad. And I actually feel like it's sort of like a perfect, I mean, I hear it is more, I kind of feel like it's a bit of a perfect, and the way it all concludes do you feel i feel like the next one would be about him and his mom more

Starting point is 00:04:04 or him or the little brother but i guess no no it's funny it's not even recommending the fourth one it's recommending the pilot of glee yeah i have no idea but but i thought like steve is on it it was fun watching him the first two but i always associate steve's on as such like a big actor and his role is how i've been sitting the whole time great yeah it's not a great look roxy people are judging you they're like oh my god who's this there's this heathen you brought on the channel i have a heathed wait let me get my phone actually because i saw them in the comments they wanted us to look some stuff up i don't think we did okay well anyway what stephen's on

Starting point is 00:04:43 in the first two i was always curious like what made him sign up for this because he's always good in it but it's such a small role and in the first two i think his role is relatively small especially the first last day's on set he's like i can do it and maybe Maybe Steve John has kids. Easy money. Maybe he has kids and he wants to do some stuff that's family-friendly. That's fair. Well, I thought that his presence here was excellent. I thought, like, it was a very believable ebb and flow with what happened with the relationship there.

Starting point is 00:05:15 And the mistakes that Greg made, oh, my God, that was so, this was like so cringy on the level of mistakes that he was actually making. But we've all been there. It's like super relatable. I know what it's like To be the friend that you're like The parents are going I don't know if I should My son should be friends

Starting point is 00:05:33 That's me Oh my God None of my friend's parents Wanted their kids to be friends with me Yeah It's not a great feeling When you're just You're not like a mean kid

Starting point is 00:05:42 But you're just You're bad influence Without realizing it I know some stuff or no No not yet I guess so geez fine Well I just I want I want to give the people

Starting point is 00:05:52 What they want You guys tell us more about what you want Sequel is in the works but canceled when the actors who played the protagonist underwent a major gross spurt suddenly. Oh, what? We'll do another one. But I thought you said there was a fourth one. That's what people said to me.

Starting point is 00:06:07 Let's see. We'll find out. Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4. I guess so. Okay. I don't think you need it for. I feel like it's kind of a perfect trilogy. Oh, wow.

Starting point is 00:06:19 There's called The Long Hall in 2017, which is a different cast. Yeah. But they're playing the same people. Yeah, that sounds awful. Yeah, that's horrible. Why would they do that too long? Yeah, shame on that cast. Shame on them.

Starting point is 00:06:32 Shame. Shame. You should never accept it the role. Shame. The guy who plays Mr. Hills is the author, I guess. Mr. Hills? No, no. Jeff Kinney has Mr. Hills as an author cameo.

Starting point is 00:06:48 Is Mr. Hills the dad? No. The dad is Steve's on. No, no, of Rowley. Oh. Oh, maybe. What's Raleigh's last name? Let's look.

Starting point is 00:06:59 Jefferson? It sounds right when you just said that. It sounds like it kind of works, right? Rowley Jefferson. It really does. We know that Holly Hills, Heather Hills. People also said that I was saying Raleigh funny. I have a hard time saying that word.

Starting point is 00:07:14 Mr. Hill, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Let's find him. Thank you. I thought like he might have been the guy who jumped in the pool. But then I'm like, nah, that's probably not him. i don't see anybody coming up from mr hills what i don't know when you're down who's this guy i have no idea who these guys oh mr hills is the dad of of heather hills of the girl oh right right right yeah i don't even sit oh my god yeah come on now come on now rocks how could you why would you should

Starting point is 00:07:52 You really want to know. What is the other fact you want to know? We've got so many other things we've got to talk about. Go ahead. Start talking. Well, I don't want to just monologue. I want to have a conversation with you, my friend. Is this a conversation?

Starting point is 00:08:04 Thought to be the last Diary of Wimby Kid movies, although the book series would continue. This was changed after a cast was assembled for a new movie Diary Wimpy Kid, the long haul. See, it's a waning, like this one. Who would care to watch them? Pete and Karen Brar previously start together. on the Disney Channel show Jesse and Bunked Sounds fun. Sounds like a fun show.

Starting point is 00:08:28 Karen Barr is the Quran who played Chirag. So they were in two other shows together. That's cool. That is cool. What do you think of Roderick's journey in this? He's the one who gets the least closure because she doesn't want to view them

Starting point is 00:08:44 and then we seem happy at them but I would have loved like eh, she's not my type anyway. Like she's not, didn't accept me for who I was. that's true I thought he had a really funny bit though and I like the which one no just the way the whole bit was going down of him wanting to go to the pool and be with like it was great he was just a trash can the first movie he's like a hardcore bully and then there's a transition that happens in the second movie and I thought like this one carries over nicely like he's not like a super nice older brother but he's not like a big bully to him either it's also realistic to life where like the as you guys are changing then the relationships change and your big brother treats you differently you might be more open for you to you and less bullying to you I thought the dog was going to come back into play a little bit more sure but that was nice and I like them trying to bond and also you and I thought

Starting point is 00:09:32 the kind of the dad was going to realize like oh no I need to find things on his level yeah which didn't happen as much but everything that did happen was so cute and great well about him learning responsibilities being able to just own up to your mistakes that kind of goes back to the first time you were like he should have said I'm sorry yeah totally you should have said I'm sorry and learning how to own your mistakes is really can be hard for people. A lot of people have a cat-like reflex to just be like no, ah, or get angry

Starting point is 00:09:57 or something to flex in some way. No one. No one in particular. No one in particular. I know a couple people here. No one in particular. No one comes to mind. Yeah, but just to be able to actually take your own accountability, I think,

Starting point is 00:10:15 is a really great lesson. I agree. I agree. It is very important. And I loved it in this. after this trilogy who is your favorite character it's Rally it's still Raleigh for me I love Raleigh so much I love everything

Starting point is 00:10:32 like with his family it was so funny when we go away that I love you game with the spinning that was great I like the way everything's played even with the spinning game a lot of other movies I think would have gotten too cartoony about it

Starting point is 00:10:48 and even with the ice cream bit there's something that feels like believable about the way they all do it and the subtlety and how they all act with just the right amount of hide and energy it's like a great blend well nothing for nothing i don't mean this to offend anybody at home but it is usually i think that was a commentary on the only child thing sure yeah it is like it's usually families like that where it's like there's their obsession with their kid and that disappointment thing it is the way that they all shared the ice cream and raleys i mean uh and gregg's growing up in the family with two other boys can barely get the attention

Starting point is 00:11:22 they did a good job of like showing the truth in those situations because sometimes that oversharing can feel like there's no boundaries because it's just one child but to other people might register other way it might be creepy but also they did a great job with Raleigh because he's a really good kid

Starting point is 00:11:38 he's an amazing kid I do kind of wish I'm blanking her name Torrey from Pepper Guy was her name Peyton what? I don't know paid in something Holly Hills Payton List is her name while while an adorable kid um i still i i kind of feel like this was their opportunity to make her more of like an actual

Starting point is 00:11:54 character and i yeah they don't focus on the women at all they don't flesh her out at all i'm like oh i thought they might be able to um like the mom's a little fleshed out yeah like we we really her sister just keeps crapping on her and every time she's like that's like that's like wow i don't know any kids who are that cool with it i felt like before every it was kind of funny though it felt like before every take she had she was told exactly how to say every line. Yeah. And she was so,

Starting point is 00:12:21 she was so precious. She's adorable. Yeah, she is. It's like charming and it's funny. But it does kind of, that was one part of it, especially with so much of the focus being on the romance side of it.

Starting point is 00:12:32 But yeah, having the summer vacation where you kind of take advantage of your friend who's a little bit richer than you, I've had that. Really? Yeah. Was it John?

Starting point is 00:12:40 No, it was not John. Someone is on the Disney Channel. Let's watch a Disney Channel movie. Yeah. Are you going to see him? tonight uh yeah actually cool yeah hey man how's it going we went to la hoya we charged your car a lot for all the food that's what i was watching this was like oh yeah i went to lojia with him once and then we just had a lot of food and i did not and i have the same mentality i didn't realize

Starting point is 00:13:08 all these bills were wrecking up on it yeah i feel that it's cool learning the responsibility financial responsibility that feeling is the parent that he must have had in that moment when he's like, I'll pay for it. And it's like, oh, you can lie to you about working here. It's so embarrassing. That reaction was so great. And I thought there was really cathartic, too, when he actually stood up to the guy at the very end. I was like, shut up, Stan. Yeah, me too. That was badass. Yeah, I like that moment, too. One day. It's more than a box loser. One day I'm going to stand up to Andrew Gordon. Like, stop bullying me, Andrew Gordon. What's he

Starting point is 00:13:42 do to you? Well, he sometimes picks his nose and rubs it on me. That is so rude. Can we pose a? of social? We could post it on social but I don't want the crying on camera though. Remember I'm crying it just makes me feel like a little insecure. I like the music in this.

Starting point is 00:14:01 The music was grand. I like the music. It was great. I love it. A little dialed back on the animations time. Yeah, I wish there was a slightly more animation because it's the great nod to the books and I like the way that it breaks up some of the storylines

Starting point is 00:14:16 and we do get it. It's always very fun and exciting. This was a really fun time and now we have to close it off with the one thing that we certainly I don't know so the guy plays Greg still an amazing actor. Yeah I know he's really good like the fact that he's able to have this character

Starting point is 00:14:33 grow and as a child actor pull that off is really cool like such a solid consistency everyone looks like they have fun making these Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days let's find out.

Starting point is 00:14:48 What are you looking for? The Rotten Tomatoes rating. 52%. 52%. 63% audience score. Okay, it's not too bad. Yeah, but it's not good and it was good. People are so weird.

Starting point is 00:15:02 People doggling. Like, what did you want from it? I don't know. It's got lessons and it's cute and it's fun. I think they're amazing. I think especially for the kids movies. If my kids wanted to watch this, then I would be so stoked. Oh my God.
