HOW FREAKY CAN ONE OLD LADY BE?!?!? With "Send Help" from director Sam Raimi dropping this Friday +, Evil Dead 7 announced, the Scream Queens are BACK to give their Drag Me to Hell Reaction, Recap, A...nalysis, Breakdown, Commentary, & Spoiler Review!! Visit http://www.liquidiv.com & use Promo Code: REJECTS Drag Me to Hell Full Movie Reaction Watch Along:   / thereelrejects   Gift Someone (Or Yourself) An RR Tee! https://shorturl.at/hekk2 Tara Erickson & Roxy Striar react to Drag Me to Hell (2009), the gleefully twisted supernatural horror film directed by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man) that blends outrageous scares, gross-out gags, and dark humor into a modern cult classic. Returning to his horror roots, Raimi delivers a relentless, fast-paced nightmare that’s as funny as it is horrifying. The film follows ambitious loan officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman – Big Fish, Matchstick Men), whose life spirals into terror after she denies an extension to an elderly woman, Mrs. Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver – They, Carnivàle). In retaliation, Ganush places a horrifying curse on Christine, condemning her to three days of escalating supernatural torment before being literally dragged to Hell. As Christine desperately searches for a way to break the curse, she’s supported by her skeptical boyfriend Clay Dalton (Justin Long – Jeepers Creepers, Accepted), whose disbelief only heightens the film’s tension and tragic irony. Starting point is 00:00:00 Thank you to Liquid IV for sponsoring this video. More on them in just a bit. I might be in hell, so I don't know that there's much of a place to drag me to already. Meet you in hell. See you on the other side. Rejects. Let's do it. All right, well, Citizens of Reject Nation, thank you so much for watching Drag Me to Hell with Tara and myself, the Sheejects.
Starting point is 00:00:28 We want to thank Prepper for helping edit this down. We know, especially with the body horror stuff, it gets very much. very difficult. So thank you for doing all that stuff. We also want to tell you guys special thank you to our patrons, patreon.com slash the real rejects. It's where you can sync up with your own copy. That's where Greg and John cover stuff exclusively. And it's also where you get discounts on our sick merch,
Starting point is 00:00:46 rejuctation shop.com. Like these sweatshirts that Tara and I didn't plan to wear the same one on the same day, but we did. Happy Horror Thursday. You've almost made it to the weekend. Congratulations. Thank you for doing this with the Sheejects. And thank you for reining in the end of your Thursday with us.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Yeah. And follow us at Real Rejects all over social media. If you're listening on Apple and Spotify, don't forget five stars, YouTube thumbs up, all that good stuff. And always, always remember to ring the bell, ring the bell. Exactly, Tara. All right. One of the cool perks about being a patron is that you get to ask us questions. That's what leads our review portion of this.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Before we get into those questions, I'll just ask you for your brief thoughts on Drag Me to Hell. It was a tough watch for me. I really don't like the gross stuff. So that was hard. But yeah, I liked it. I didn't love it. I really love Justin Long's performance a ton. So great.
Starting point is 00:01:46 There are some really, like, fun, good scenes in here. But it wouldn't be a movie that I'm like, oh, my God, you have to watch this. I think maybe because of the grossness stuff, I like, I can't do that. But I did still think it's a fun horror. and I like the bait and switch at the end. That it's obviously the Liberty Quarter that she put in there. And I didn't even think of that when they were in the car. Me too.
Starting point is 00:02:12 So that was a really good moment. Me too. I thought that like somehow he might end up with it, but I didn't think about how and that was really smart. Unlike you, I think because I have spent so much effing time being a caretaker, especially to elderly people. A lot of the stuff that was gross in this was not gross at all to me. You know what's not gross to me.
Starting point is 00:02:30 phleg body parts like all of that stuff i also started working at a hospital i was 14 years old so like i do very well with that stuff yeah um the jump scares got me in this and i do think that the concept of i the other thing is that i'm not religious so hell is not something that i'm particularly concerned about however it was cool to see sam ramy who is known for a lot of his horror to do this and for me to see kind of like oh okay this is why some of the choices in dr strange or this is where a lot of these things come from and it did look fantastic. And I really appreciate his characters
Starting point is 00:03:06 especially having a lead who I don't like. And sometimes people shy away from that and I was like, no, this is really cool. So we'll get more into the review portion. Here we go. Starting with Patreon questions coming from J.Dell. So Drag Me to Hell mix is brutal horror with almost cartoonish dark humor.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Do you think the movie works better when you're laughing and screaming at the same time or would it have been scarier if it played everything completely straight? I would have hated it if Justin Long's jokes weren't in it, this. Not hated it. I wouldn't have hated the movie. I think it's a good movie.
Starting point is 00:03:37 And like you said, like, you know, special effects and stuff like that, I think that they, they rode the line in a perfect way. I liked his humor in it. It's over the top and I love that. Yeah. I think that that's the part that really helped the movie. Yeah. T.J. sup.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Sup, T.J. What would you have done in Christine's position at the bank with Mrs. Gnoo, uh, Gnoo. she's mortgage issue. Love your reaction. Happy 2026. Happy 2026. What would you've done to her? Well, when she looked back at Stu and Stu had some other people at his table,
Starting point is 00:04:10 I was like, just give it to Stu. Like, this lady's nuts have been like, Stu, can you do me a favor? Like, this is going to look really good. It's too tough for me. So can you help me and help this lady? I would have just given it to him. I don't know if that would have been,
Starting point is 00:04:24 if he would have done it, but I would be like, this is his problem now. This is why I could never work at the bank. I would give anybody who asks for money, money. Yeah. Because I don't give a shit. It's the bank's problem. Totally. I'm just working there. Yeah. I'm working paycheck to paycheck. Take all the money. I can't. And I know that wouldn't give me the raise, but that wouldn't have been my end-all job because I could never ever have a loaner's position. I would give everybody who asked for money. Also, you have sick family. Oh, you did so you got the,
Starting point is 00:04:52 I think take all the money. Take all the money. We have all of it here, so might as well. But I kind of want to bury still like and be like, your problem. Lucy Peralta Yay! Team Terror Drive me to hell is one of my faves I love the contrast to the first scene being a horror right away instead of the classic calm intro
Starting point is 00:05:11 that a lot of movies of this genre usually have Do you think Christine had a genuine way out of the curse? Seems like a series of unfortunate events But maybe that's just part of the curse as well Love to hear your thoughts Thank you for being amazing sharing your reaction Thank you. Appreciate you Lucy Do you think Christine had a genuine way
Starting point is 00:05:30 out of the curse. Well, obviously not. She killed her cat. And you did see that coming and I hate that. It just felt like she didn't have to do that though. I don't know why she jumped to that so quick. He gave her that book. He was like, could be a chicken.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Right. But what about my own cat? Like, even if she did somebody else's cat, I would understand. Like, this is your pet. You could have picked any other. I'm with you. It kind of, it goes against a grain of like, but we don't want to hate this character. Right?
Starting point is 00:05:59 And I'm like, it didn't make, it made me go, all right, maybe you can kill her now. I don't like, that's where I was at with it. Flying Scotsman 4-072. Hi, Terranoxy. Hi, Flying Scotsman. It's probably Sam Ramey's most underrated film. And in my opinion, I'm beyond excited for you to finally watch it, now having seen Evil Dead.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And assuming the Spidey trilogy, yes, I've seen the Spidey trilogy, have you? Okay. Yeah. How would you compare it to those other films in terms of style and tone? I love the can't be tone throughout. LOL. Yeah, it makes sense because of the Evil Dead stuff, which is like obviously super R-rated compared to this.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Right. How would you compare with other films? It makes sense. If I watch this movie and somebody gave me multiple choice, like, who do you think directed this movie and listed a few people? I would be able to pick him. Probably from even the title graphics.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Right. Totally. Fellow reject, I've learned the hard way that more effort isn't always the answer. Sometimes it's pacing. There were stretches in my life where I was training hard, working non-stop, still hitting that midday brain fog and fatigue. Truth be told, still deal with that like pretty much like every week. However, the thing I take to counter that when I realize I should slow down is this bad boy.
Starting point is 00:07:15 I am a devotee to liquid IV. I take hydration very, very serious. It really did click with me when I started getting my health in order, post-workout especially. Like, I sweat a lot. Sometimes I hit that steam room too. and I realized water alone just wasn't cutting it. Getting proper sodium and potassium, right? Minerals make such a difference.
Starting point is 00:07:36 That's exactly why I've been using Liquid IV's hydration multiplier daily. Last year, still now, I'm even going to go traveling and I'm bringing like a whole box with me. It's powered by LIV hydra science with an optimized ratio of electrolytes, essential vitamins, and clinically tested nutrients that help hydrate faster than water alone. Just one stick of this in 16 ounces of water or sometimes they even mix with like a protein. shake gives three times the electrolytes of your leading sports drink plus eight essential vitamins and minerals i really do get obsessed about that kind of thing including b vitamins and vitamin c immunity brain baby so i always take one generally after a workout sometimes during long work days definitely when
Starting point is 00:08:14 traveling or hitting higher altitudes i tend to keep like a packet in my bag everywhere i go it's easy just tear it pour it mix it i love flavors like this one the lemon lime i also got at home the passion fruit uh the tropical punch there's a lot of sugar-free options as i have well. They're non-GMO vegan, free from gluten, dairy, and soy, and no artificial sweeteners. So if you related with anything I had to say, I can tell you right now, you could rehydrate with better hydration from Liquid Ivy. Tear, poor, live more. Go to Liquidivee.com and get 20% off your first order with code rejects. That's 20% off with code rejects at Liquidiv.com. Thank you, Liquid Ivy, for not only
Starting point is 00:08:52 sponsoring this video, but being part of literally my day-to-day. totally um but yeah i don't know if it's like i i would maybe agree with you as like on most underrated film because i've never heard of this film i was like i don't even know what this is and then obviously everyone here it was like whoa you haven't seen that um and it is like an an enjoyable horror movie with some twists and turns i just however i can't handle the gross the gross stuff i i almost thought i was going to vomit i also love the message help people when you can Yeah. Even if it in the short term negatively impacts you.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Do it. Help people when you can. Yeah. Don't get caught. And don't shame people who need help. Yeah. Because when she says security and she didn't need to, she wasn't actually at risk. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:40 In that moment. Bad karma. Jane Rhodes. Such an underrated movie when it's compared to other Sam Ramey horror movies, it does get overlooked a lot of the time. I'm curious which Sam Ramey horror movie is y'all's favorite. My personal favorite is probably Evil Dead too. We did love the Evil Dead franchise. I don't remember which Evil Dead movie we liked the most.
Starting point is 00:09:59 I mean, I think Evil Dead 2 is one that we really enjoyed because I think at that one was when we knew the lady was going to come out of the ground. Again, you guys know a memory of a goldfish. I could be totally wrong, but I really love the Evil Dead movies. And I feel like in two was when that body went in the body chuck her up and all the blood came out. I don't know. That was wild. So I would go with Evil Dead for me Because I don't the other stuff
Starting point is 00:10:29 Was too gross for me Okay Richard the magician Thank you Richard This is the movie where I first recognized Justin Long as an actor I recognize him from the movie Jeepers Creepers where he also did
Starting point is 00:10:40 Didn't X maybe did an actual job Have you watched that on this channel I haven't seen Jeepers Creeper's and people have requested That we watched that Oh then maybe we will I've seen Justin Long in so many things And obviously if I was watching this in 2009 Maybe Justin Long would be newer
Starting point is 00:10:54 to me, but Justin Long, because we're watching this in 2026, I think you and I have probably seen him in 100 movies each. Totally. Like, he works all the time. A lot of comedy, too. He's so, so... He's great. I love him. I got to interview him once for Collider for an hour long sit down. He was absolutely lovely.
Starting point is 00:11:10 That's so cool. It was very, very cool to talk to him. He's ridiculously talented. Jeepers, creepers should be on our list? Let us know. Jay Rushden. Question. Was Tara upset at Killing of Black Cat? And was the spitting out Black Cat's scary part of movie trivia just as long was famous for being in mac versus pc ads oh yeah mac i'm a
Starting point is 00:11:31 i remember those and yeah jay i wanted i wanted her to die immediately like the second she goes come here kitty kitty i was like great drag her to hell you can kill her right now i yeah i don't want it yep even all the way up to the end i think oh yeah i still was like just take her final question thank you so much to jadel director sam ramy deliberately designed the scares to feel mean and absurd. He said the goal was to make the audience laugh right before feeling uncomfortable, which is why so many gross out moments hit the punchlines and nightmares at once. That makes sense to me. I think if that was his goal, he succeeded. He succeeded. I think where this went wrong for me and my overall nature is that I couldn't even laugh at it because I was like,
Starting point is 00:12:14 if my stomach starts to go, I think I'm going to throw up. Honestly, I have a really hard time with all that stuff. What was this that you Googled about Octavia Spencer and Samaramy? And they have. They have worked together on multiple films. She worked 2002 Spider-Man. And then it does say they worked together and dragged me to hell. But there was no working together.
Starting point is 00:12:34 She was literally, I think probably her lines must have been cut because you do not use Octavia Spencer as an extra. That's why I looked up like, oh, are they friends? And he was like, oh, do you just want to make like a little? But in 2009, what was she doing? A little highlight. She might have been working background. We don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Yeah, let me look it up. Let me look it up. Oh, no, because if she was in Spider-Man in 2002. Yeah, she's big then. 2009. Octavian Spencer was doing the juice. Yeah, I think you're right. Isn't she already in the help?
Starting point is 00:13:04 Yeah. I think that probably came out prior to this, yeah. Super weird. Weird. Like, I was going to. And I was like, that looks like her. But she's so in the background. It's totally her.
Starting point is 00:13:16 It's totally her. I'm just going to look up. Octavia Spencer 2009 films and then it'll probably just say a 2009 she worked a what? You're just looking at what movie she did in 2009? Jesus Christ!
Starting point is 00:13:34 Look how many movies? Just in 2009? She was huge. Will you look up when the help is? Yeah. And then we're going out of here. We swear we're just too curious. 2011.
Starting point is 00:13:47 So after. So after. Okay. All right. She kind of blew up with that. The moral of story is if Octavia Spencer's not too good to be in the background, then neither or any of us. Yeah, that's what we know.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Terri, any final thoughts on Drag Me to Help? No, I thought like it's, you know, I know at first I was like, I was in love with it, but it is true, but I do still think that it's a really good horror. And like the twisted turns, I did not, I couldn't see coming. And I did jump scare a bunch of times and the comedy in it, especially from just and long makes it an overall really good packets. I just can't handle the gross stuff. I was really into this movie.
Starting point is 00:14:25 I liked it a lot. It wasn't super scary to me, but I could see why it would be because of just how icky some of the moments are. A lot of vomit stuff. I think Sam Rami did exactly what he wanted to do in this, and I really am grateful to have watched it because now we've just seen more of Sam Rami's work,
Starting point is 00:14:42 and I like it a lot. Totally. Happy to do it with the Sheejects. Happy to do it for Rejection. And we'll see you guys next time. Later, Rejects.
