This week's video is sponsored by Acorns, the money app that makes it simple and cheap to make small yet significant investments.
To leave us into the video, would you rather be evil or dead?
Evil.
I'd rather be dead.
Let's go.
man all right okay so we officially just watched evil dead 2013 we're going to talk all about it before
we do that don't forget to like comment subscribe don't forget to go to rejectnation shop
dot com pick up your shirt yes uh we don't have a deadite on here but we do have some
unbelievable horror icons and including the shejacks ourselves perfect for spooky season so
Holy Shataki mushrooms, dude.
Rough, tumble, tumble, burrow.
Yeah, I mean.
That was rough, tumble, tumble.
The other movies, remember, they made me so nauseous and dizzy.
This one was legit terrifying.
Maybe this is...
Agreed.
Is this the scariest movie I've ever seen?
Nauseous in other ways and so intense.
Like, just when you think it's going to stop, it doesn't.
And it is, there is some good jump scares in here, like great ones.
And not, it wasn't basic.
Like, the fact that the girlfriend outlives the best friend and like there was just so many things
that I couldn't predict.
And even the ending when you think, okay, the brother and sister, they made it out.
And then it's like, what are we talking about?
This has been the most gruesome horror movie ever.
Of course, the brother and sister don't make it out together.
I got to look up some of these people.
But overall, is this your favorite in the franchise?
Oh, I, you know what?
I really like this one
for the plot. The prosthetics and the makeup and the special effects
are phenomenal. They did not cut away. You guys know
in horror movies and most of the time it's probably a budget thing
but they showed us everything. And I appreciated that because that
takes a lot more of a budget to show us those special effects of
of those, the prosthetics and her face,
she's cutting her face off looked amazing.
The nail gun stuff looked amazing.
The girl with no arms,
it all looked really great and not fake.
And normally we would cut away from that
and assume what has happened,
which in some of these instances,
I would have preferred,
because it got me loosey-goosey in the tummy area.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was like, what did the both?
Some of the Poonan stuff.
Oh, God.
That was, yeah, I do think that this would
rate high. I think this would probably be my favorite out of the franchise, but it's because
they really delivered on everything. And the acting was also really great. But I respect Sam Ramey's
movies to get us to this place. I love the OG first one the most out of them. And then I, I would
put that one and this one kind of head to head. They're very, very different. This one definitely
takes itself more seriously in the horror genre. And the first one was serious, but there still was
like kind of like a lighter air to it this one was dark so the girl jessica lucas who uh we both
recognize i know where i know her from now which i can't believe i didn't get this i loved the show
gotham okay she played tabitha on gotham but she's been in a ton of different stuff that maybe
you recognize her for her she's done 45 episodes of the resident she's an eight episode of the
murders she did nine episodes of grace point she was in pompey she was in uh an episode of
Syke, 13 episodes of Friends with Benefits,
four episodes of 90210.1.0. She was in Cloverfield.
Cloverfield, that's where I, right, because I just watched that movie on the channel.
That's where it was. Okay. Yep. She was Tabith. I can't believe I didn't get that.
Shiloh Fernandez, who's the main guy, the brother.
He was Peter in Red Riding Hood in 2011, which is before this.
he has about 70 credits on IMDB things that a lot of stuff that I don't recognize though
and I know that I know him from something oh he's in two episodes of euphoria that might be it oh that
might be it uh great cast yeah they were so talented um and I really want to go find some of
their more work the main girl Jane Lavey she is oh she's the girl from Zoe's extraordinary
playlist oh yeah am I an idiot yeah
That's, that's, and that's a great, yeah.
I didn't watch the show, um, but she, I've seen, obviously, the poster everywhere.
Yeah.
She is on the cover of it.
She's that girl.
So, all right, maybe that's how I knew.
Damn, damn, damn.
God, I'm like yawning because she was so intense.
Brother and Shameless.
Okay, yeah.
All right.
So those are other people.
Uh, yeah, that was really good.
Yeah, that was great.
Really good.
What happens from here?
Do we know?
um i don't know what comes after this but i just i can't believe how many multiple times i thought
it was going to be the end and it wasn't um they gave us a lot of good big horror scenes
where you think that's the closing shot that's the closing scene everybody's dead they
they might get away this could be a happy ending and then it just keeps going
but it doesn't feel like it's too long.
No.
Right?
It keeps going in a great way
because they're just adding more phenomenal scenes on top of it.
But I'm really glad that we finally got to know
that if you do bury them alive,
that was my main question.
I kept saying that.
But it's odd because now it's like,
well, you're definitely going to have to choose buried alive.
If it's a loved one, you have to bury them.
Well, they don't know that though.
But they don't know.
Right.
It's not like she's going to go around telling people.
Right.
In cases happens.
Make sure you bury them alive and then jumpstart their heart and then just like hope for the best.
Well, it's just funny because it's in the book, but dismemberment, we've seen them dismembered their bodies.
And in the beginning, he stayed alive with his arm off, but they didn't work for the other girl.
It grew too fast, but she cut both of her arms off.
And I thought maybe that's enough dismemberment that she might, but no, it wasn't.
We saw her face, remember?
Yes.
And so all of this is like the storytelling in this and getting more into.
to the book and what that reveals, I really enjoyed that.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm excited to shout out today's sponsor because it is an app that I
have been using since before we partnered with them, which just makes my job easy.
And I just get to share with you something I really do love.
And that is the Acorns app.
Because money's involved, I researched them extensively to make sure, like, they've got to be
legit, right?
You can find so many positive reviews on them.
There's one person here.
Day themselves gave me a very positive testimony about how it helped get them out of a
bind once that they were in and i can say that you know i don't want to actually show my but i have the
app just as evidence because one of my favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing
that's something that i think is really important it's really hard to get ahead in life for something like

I have a lot of trivia for you ready for it. Oh, let's do it.
Okay, here we go. According to reports in the press, the film used 70,000 gallons.
Oh, God.
which is equivalent to 264,978 liters of fake blood.
In an interview, Fetty Alvarez said they used 50,000 gallons for the final scene alone.
Yeah.
This is compared to the 200 to 300 gallons used in the original.
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
When she takes that chainsaw and it's just gouging blood and also raining blood, give me a break.
It's raining blood.
It sure is.
95% of the remake was shot in chronological order.
This was done because a lot of the film takes place in controlled environment
and level of blood and violence gets worse and worse
as the film progresses.
By shooting an order, the filmmakers could throw blood on the walls and not worry.
It would mess up another shot.
That's great.
They needed to be clean.
Not only is it great, but that's why the actors had such, like,
the progression was so powerful.
Yeah.
It's so much better for the actors if you can shoot chronologically.
Oh, so much better.
God, I mean, my first day,
The Nightmare House, which is also called the Twisted Nanny,
first day on set, 12 pages.
What was it?
Cry, cry, cry.
As if it's the end of the freaking movie.
It's so hard.
Although he has a background in CGI,
director of Freddie Alvarez chose to go with practical effects for this film's visuals,
mainly had a tribute to what Sam Ramey achieved on a very limited budget back in 1980.
It was great because there was, as you could see, there was a lot of,
even the body split in half at the end,
sinking into the ground, that was a practical, like, body there.
And the arm was a practical prosthetic.
There's a lot of great practical effects in this.
This film was originally rated NC17 until it's toned down for an R rating.
I don't want to know what the toned up is.
According to the director, he and Sam Ramey were always willing to keep the NC17 rating
since the original film has it.
However, the studio required that it have an R rating in order to have a wide release.
Yeah, makes sense.
Oh, this is interesting.
If you take the first letter of the main characters,
David, Eric, Mia, Olivia, Natalie, the letter spell out,
Demon. Demon. Love it.
That's cool.
That is cool.
Okay, let's see. The illustration of abomination
in the Natum Demonto is based on the poster artwork for the original film.
Okay, cool.
In the opening sequence, the gasoline that Harold pours over the girl was actually apple juice.
Oh, love it.
Good to know.
This film was banned in Ukraine for its extreme violence.
Yeah, not surprised.
It is very intense.
Yeah, very, very intense.
Many of the clips shown in preceding trailers were not used, either not used in the actual movie or were altered in the film.
I like that because it keeps you guessing.
Yeah.
What's going to happen?
Some of the cast had three-hour makeup sessions.
and then another hour or more to get out of it.
Yeah.
I mean, that, that, especially nail face, amazing.
And when he comes back to life out of the swamp,
they all just look so good.
And you just, the fact that that's, of course,
it needed to be practical for it to look good.
It just takes so much time to get all of those actors in those specific looks.
Because they end the consistency, the continuity.
They looked amazing.
this one is for you guys and us because hell yeah this is amazing director fetti alvarez got the job of writing and directing the remake on the strength of his five minute short panic attack which had become a YouTube hit by word of mouth cool good job you really did an amazing job it's really an amazing job the famous we're going to get you seen shown in the original cut in the film's trailer didn't make it to theatrical cut so i'm curious
I'm curious to see that.
Okay.
Huh.
Julian Jacobs audition for the role of Mia, but lost to Lily Collins.
Collins later dropped out and was replaced by Jane Levy.
Oh.
I cannot picture Lily Collins in this role.
Me neither.
Emily in Paris?
No, Emily and the evil dode.
Yeah, that, nope.
There's a lot more stuff, but that is some of it.
And there you have.
Some good trivia.
Yeah, I like the demon part.
Anything else that you want to tell the people?
No, man.
I really, I enjoy this movie, but there's part of it.
where I couldn't look.
You're completely funded, dude.
Congratulations.
Yeah, we got it.
We got there, guys.
So, yeah, later this year, new year, thank you to you guys for the support.
Like, I love you to death.
And let's make a movie.
Maybe it will be the thing that gets you what Fetty got.
Put it out there.
Let's see.
All right.
Catch you guys next time.
Later, Rejects and Cheexxx.
Thank you.
