Starting point is 00:01:30 ready now i'm ready can we breathe again i mean holy shit terror yeah that was just that movie kicked the crap out of me i agree i'm tired because i was it was disgusted a lot i've just that was a lot it that was
Starting point is 00:01:55 really like a brilliant movie though too i mean just phenomenal so scary the prosthetics the makeup i mean take my money i mean i can't wait to talk about it all before we do don't forget guys like comment subscribe if you're all one apple or spotify give us that five star uh rejectnation shop dot com pick up your your gear uh i i mean first of all I'm really glad that the sister and the one daughter survived
Starting point is 00:02:36 yeah second of all I don't even know that we needed to bookend it with that trip to the lake right because it wasn't as well just like but just shows the story goes on but it did
Starting point is 00:02:50 make for a really strong opening yeah I really cared about these kids these characters I like the DJ aspect of it that made a lot of sense and was a little different than the visual intake that we usually get to have a more auditory intake. This was so scary between the cheese grater, the eggs, the cockroaches, the shotgun,
Starting point is 00:03:14 the car with the on and off. I mean, like, holy, what was, what moments stand out to you? Oh, God. Um, no. Okay. Like, when you think about this movie, what are you going to? to think about. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:33 The amount of blood. Yeah. Okay. The exorcist moment where she's like up on the ceiling, there's some exorcist looking stuff. But the amount of blood that comes out of that elevator, which I thought was a very iconic shot that is very horror-esque, probably, you know, taking notes from very popular movies.
Starting point is 00:03:52 I, that was great of them just like washing out. Yes, that was. You know, and obviously the throwing up the cockroach I hate it. There's a lot of throwing up in this movie. Ah! The throw up, dude. And then the black char throw up. God, I just can't.
Starting point is 00:04:09 The white throw up and then there's like yellow throw up and the kid will walk through the hallway. I cannot. I can't. Like, this is a movie that just blah. Is this the best in the franchise though? I... Or was the last one the best?
Starting point is 00:04:23 It's a tie. Honestly, between this one and the last one, I don't know. really going for, you know, I really like this one in the final girl moment that her and the little girl, they did touch, everybody in this did an amazing job, but I really like that iconic shot of her taking that, that chainsaw and walking out with the little girl. I love that ending the most and we still got the same amount of chopped up blood in this, right? I mean, those bodies get chopped up in the grinder. It's coming out in the thing.
Starting point is 00:04:58 coming out in the elevator with the eyeball wait give me oh god that was disgusting and her thrown out i couldn't even look to screen she threw up and that's a callback right didn't we see that one of these movies one of them threw up into the other person's mouth yeah i think that if somebody asked me like if people were saying okay rocks you have been doing a ton of horror movies for real rejects you've like really fallen in love with this kind of this genre yeah what is the scariest horror movie I could watch. This is my beauty is. I would say it's this. This in the last one, like to me,
Starting point is 00:05:34 but over every, obviously the Chucky movies we find to be a little more funny and whatever, but over any of the Purge movies, ever any of the Friday 13th or Nightmare on Elm, or from what I've seen, the Scream and Halloween movies, or any of the other things I've done on this channel, like Black Phone or ready or not, or any of the horror movies I've watched here, the evil dead the last couple of evil dead movies scary are the scariest movies i've ever seen in my fucking life
Starting point is 00:06:04 yeah i mean i'm like my shoulders are at my ears black phone i haven't seen the other ones and i actually agree with you my look at where my shoulders are yeah like i can't like i'm trying to relax like i can't yeah i feel tense as all get up the sister dynamic was really good let me look up some stuff for us let me look let me do a little look-see. This is 20-23. Are we going to be getting... That's why the effects were amazing, too. Well, that's why I think they set up the... It made for a great opener, that opening scene and then giving us the ending. Well, giving us the ending... Oh, you're right. They do end up
Starting point is 00:06:44 all dead. Of her being taken. No, no, because she rises and then we cut out of it. She's not dead. Yeah, the one dead person isn't dead. She's evil dead. She is dead. Right. So that, That's how I was going to make my point in saying that it keeps the continuation of the story going on because she's still there and she'll spread it, right? So we're, we may be due for another, you know, just continuing. This Lee, Cronin guy, man. Great job, Lee. Yeah, holy, holy crap, you did the damn thing. He must be a diehard fan of the franchise.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Okay. Director Lee Cronin stated in an interview that 6,500 leaders or 1,000. 720 gallons of fake blood were used for the movie. It's a lot. The film was originally meant to release exclusively 3.8.3 max. I'm sorry, via direct to streaming, but it performed so strongly that during test screenings, the studio decided to release it theatrically instead.
Starting point is 00:07:44 I wonder how much it made and what the budget was. I don't know. Curious. That's good. It's great film. It's a place is called Henrietta's a reference to Henrietta Noby, the demon in the basement in Evil Dead 2. okay inside the cabin in the prologue of the film is a ticking clock on the wall
Starting point is 00:08:01 it's exact same clock as the one Cheryl is drawing in the evil dead 1981 oh see i knew he was clearly a diehard fan this was shot in chronological order we always talk about that it's so helpful for the actors yeah and the blood yep oh yeah to get the character of alternate personality actress alissa sutherland took inspiration from jim carey's performance as stanley i can kind of see that yeah interesting on the extra vision podcast director lee cron revealed that all the characters were named after actors that had previously appeared in the evil death franchises listen that's so interesting because when we were scrolling one of the names was bruce and i was like oh yeah bruce campbell um so i guess all that the film opens with the sound
Starting point is 00:08:48 of a fly this is the same exact sound used throughout different entries dating all the way back to the original has become a tradition to appear at least once. Mm. Okay. If you look at Ellie's arm, they are wrapped in the tattoos of vines, arms, they are wrapped in tattoos of vines. This is a nod to Cheryl from the Evil Dead, Bobby Joe from the Evil Dead too,
Starting point is 00:09:10 and Mia from Evil Dead, who are all attacked by Vines. Yep, love that. We noticed that. The only Evil Dead film to not feature the 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal Vehicle. Oh. I didn't notice. me neither damn
Starting point is 00:09:25 I want to see about some of the did you recognize any of the actors no I didn't not at all I didn't either really which is strange the main girl who played Ellie
Starting point is 00:09:40 her name Alyssa Sutherland see I guess that she was one of the stars of the show Vikings oh I didn't watch that yeah I didn't either and she is in the Devil Wars probably she's got a bunch of different credits. Well, they all have a lot of different credits and this is my introduction to most of them, so.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Yeah, me too. That Nell Fisher kid, let's see. Oh, she was in Stranger Things, which we love. She's in eight episodes of it. Really? I guess so. In the new one that hasn't dropped yet? Looks like, yes, there we go.
Starting point is 00:10:15 That's why. That's why. I was like, you and I are obsessed of that show. Wow. She's going to, I'm very excited about this new. season then because she was phenomenal and we were already excited about this new season yeah yeah really really really good um really good couldn't have done a better job i don't think when does the new season strange things come out do we even 25 but i don't know 25 okay yeah um Gabrielle eckles who played
Starting point is 00:10:43 bridget um but yeah they all have great credits underneath them anyway good really strong performances which is why i want to look more into the actors excited at that that the Wii one little kid is going to be in Stranger Things. Did it say what else Lee Cronin has done? I didn't recognize anything. Really? Okay. Yeah, I didn't recognize anything. He did a great, great job.
Starting point is 00:11:04 It's such a... Le Cronin did the hole in the ground. Don't know it. Which was in 2019. Ghost Train in 2013 and through the night in 2010. Huh. Okay. Interesting. Fifty states of fright, two episodes of that. Minutes past midnight.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Yeah, I don't know any of them. Okay. But let's see upcoming things, I'm guessing after this. Untitled New Line Atomic Monster Blumhouse event film. So something with Blumhouse, two different untitled things with Blumhouse. Okay. In 2026. That's good.
Starting point is 00:11:36 That's great. I mean, he did a great job on this. Yeah, I mean, I would be shocked if we saw this and he didn't do a Blumhouse movie. Totally. I agree. Any final thoughts for the peeps, girlie? No, man. I really like this movie, even though I was disgusted and wanted to throw.
Starting point is 00:11:52 up multiple times, that's kind of what the horror movie world wants you to do. They want to like, and this movie definitely did that. Great job. For real. Great job. Excellent work. Can't wait to see whatever our next franchise is. Shejiks are here to stay.
Starting point is 00:12:11 Let us know in the comments what you guys are thinking. But we will see you guys soon. Later, Rejects and Cheex. You know, if you're in the neck or not, or you got some. I want to hear what you were going to say. I got nothing. I usually get a first sentence and then I figured it out. If you're reading the neck, see, here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:12:29 This is the first time where we're on an Everett Pixelmite Baker shoutout. And I have no compulsion to go for the pixel mite part. I feel like Everett Baker is totally the name of a guy who would wander into that cabin, find the book. And just start poking around, you know. But I feel like the book can't be all bad, right? Like, there got to be a couple passages that are like a little inconvenient and messy, but not like horrific. It's all about context, John. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:12:57 You just have to have the right mindset when you read for the book. And I feel like Everbaker would have the right mindset would mean for the book. You know? Sure. What would he do with it? Well, first of all, he would use it to conjure a version of Brian Perry that he could torture and not feel bad about. as a reference to a previous shoutout that Everett has definitely seen
Starting point is 00:13:22 because Everett watches every shoutout individually obsessively and that's why he goes to the cabin because he's like, you know what, I just need to be myself need to be by myself and with my thoughts and also I need to take stuff out on little impish demons
Starting point is 00:13:36 that I can conjure up. That's hilarious. This is a very funny idea. Aren't you glad you gave me the wheel? So funny. You had one idea and so did I. I thought I had more than one idea but you know ever baker he's an inspiring guy and if he was here right
Starting point is 00:13:52 now this would be the best shout out he would come up if only he was here yeah well ever i hope you enjoyed it i think this was good and i pay attention to every second of it I'm
