Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Episode 5 & 6 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Theories! Greg Alba & Roxy Striar return to the depths of Hell for Hazbin Hotel Season 2 — Episodes 5 (“Silenced”) and 6 (“Scream Rain”) — from creator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, the visionary behind Helluva Boss. The chaos, comedy, and music of Hell reach new heights as Charlie Morningstar, Vaggie, Angel Dust, Alastor the Radio Demon, Husk, Niffty, Sir Pentious, Vox, Velvette, Valentino, and new demons collide in the Hotel’s wildest chapters yet. These episodes feature incredible original songs by Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg — including 🎵 “Bad With Us,” “Vox Populi,” “Vox Dei,” “Love in a Bottle,” “Losing Streak,” and “Easy.” Each track pushes the story forward with catchy lyrics, gorgeous animation, and music-video-level energy (MV moments everywhere!). We break down every song sequence, lyric meaning, and emotional beat — from Vox’s power anthem to Angel Dust’s heartbreak, and Alastor’s looming influence over Charlie and the Hotel’s fate. Our reaction dives deep into VivziePop’s signature blend of satire, heart, and spectacle — bridging the Hazbin and Helluva Boss universes, analyzing animation details, vocal performances, and the insanely layered music production that has made this show a modern cult classic. Starting point is 00:01:13 Yeah, dribble, dribble, shoot, shoot, take it to the hoop, poop. Yep, that is. I never saw high school musical. It shows. Is it about basketball? It's partly. Troy, he's torn between basketball and singing, and which way should he go? Not to hell, because then he's.

Is this considered anime? No, I don't know. Where did you draw the correlation? Because bento boxes are usually Japanese.
Starting point is 00:04:49 You might be right. It does feel a little anime. I have no idea. Opening song. Okay. Either way it seemed in the radio demons off the air. All right. It's dope.
Starting point is 00:05:04 They knew we were teetering. Hell as we knew it is through it's shaking the foundation. Oh, good. Who knows what moves? Those fears will magnate. After all, we're all overlaught. You know you want to be back. You can feel heaven.
Starting point is 00:05:26 singing in these accents is hard there's old boring shit up there books tea elder care he's actually back in the show for a second it's a bit of a rock opera hell with us cha cha cha stop it okay what do you prepare that that was a really fun song are you navigating coming what are you doing I'm trying to get Emily's attention. She really didn't give you a way to contact her, huh? No, she said she couldn't. Heaven is closed down or something, so now I just need to get her.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Addemption! Do you think she sees it? Why would she see that, honey? If it makes you feel better, they look pretty. Thanks, Fanny. No, no. This would just be so much easier with Alistair. He was supposed to host the hotel, not get himself fucking.
Starting point is 00:06:25 kidnapped her intrusive thoughts are wild but I have things handled is there anything I can help you I don't think so Vaggy yeah how about Charlie's Vaggy you know what I'm saying so I was thinking oh I just need to keep oh she's getting neglected oh I think I know what to do oh this can be a Vaggy centric episode about time I feel like a Christmas episode. Yeah. How was the group therapy session? Ugh, I missed it.
Starting point is 00:07:00 But Husk seems to be enjoying the therapist shit. Says his pretend and deliscient skills are put to good use. I have never heard someone come up with so many ways to say stupid, adding the few to my personal dictionary. It's because you're a moronic, unthinking damn fool. Damn fool. Who is too nonsensically doltish to realize. Deltish. Good word.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Maybe you should try not being a feeble mind. I could smooth rain for once. I wonder how often therapists I actually want to talk like that. I got to imagine all the time. Am I doing therapy, right? Where are you headed? Mucifer. Must be important.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Give me the tea later. This is feel like such a sitcom episode. This is so weird. Just a minute. I'll be different. I wasn't doing anything weird, I swear it. Oh, hey. What is it?
Starting point is 00:07:51 Where do you in these ducks? Come in, just let me just. Oh, it's kind of worse. Really wasted no time, huh, sir? Call me Daddy. Wait, no, call me Lou. Now, what is it you need? Well, you're the king of hell, right?
Starting point is 00:08:07 Does a bribe come back, Mavid? Have he been listening to him at all? Nope. Well, he's been hardcore shitting on Charlie in the hotel for weeks. It's kind of driving her crazy. Just drive you crazy, Dad. You know, you think you could go over and, like, I don't know, smite him or something? Oh, Vanastasia.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I'll let you want to know. Venetacea, it's not bad. It's a punishment. And mine is that I'm stuck here with all these sinners. Can't kill them, can't do nothing with them. So I just have to ignore them. Fudge. Vox doesn't know that.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Hey, theater kids, March available now. Most of hell, you're a pretty big deal. Yeah, I don't know. And you got to recognize your power. Scalister, but, you know, he's unavailable. So. No, no, no, ha-da-ha-ha-ha-han. If my little girl is getting harassed by this Vox fella,
Starting point is 00:09:01 then it is my time to daddy up. Daddy up. No, don't say it like that. But great. What's wrong with that? I love Daddy-up. Daddy-up sounds cool. Why would you think Emily could see this, honey?
Starting point is 00:09:19 Charlie. She can. Sarah, we need to talk to her. She just can't get there, but she can see it. but what good we're talking to her do i don't think it's a good idea you're afraid aren't you because you know we owe hell a massive apology yes you do cookies what is he doing here i invited him i figured if anyone can help us make these decisions it'd be best to have an actual hell expert sure yeah yes i'm happy to help he can't be here emily this is important only the highest
Starting point is 00:09:48 angels well i'm as high as you and i say he stays emily's as high as sarah apparently Did not expect that My vote is that we should apologize Maybe with some gift basket Well, I'm sure Charlie would Like a gift basket Look at Abel You should throw in a cheese assortment
Starting point is 00:10:07 Oh, and a cute little plush bear that says Charlie for the violence That would be so cute Charlie for the violence I really don't think this is a good idea How can the demons accept anything we say After what we've done? You have to start somewhere
Starting point is 00:10:23 It starts with sorry So I think it's worth a try I believe Charlie told him that Got a gift basket Look at a sad teddy bear Are you actually here Or am I really dehydrated Definitely dehydrated
Starting point is 00:10:41 We're really here Aunt Webring Sorry Sorry Is Penn okay Can I see him The snake is fine
Starting point is 00:10:52 He misses you all I'm sorry we can't bring him. Thanks, guys. I appreciate this. She's never got her in a basket. It's just Vox has completely convinced most of hell that you all are still out to get us, and that redemption isn't real, and that I'm just some crazy person. What's a Vox?
Starting point is 00:11:09 It's not important. Please, I need you to come with me. I heard Vox has a rally today, a big one. Oh, no. Really bad call. We're going to need more Gets Basket. This show is not afraid of Ruffle. feathers man so uh you have the dancers ready there it is what really are you contributing besides
Starting point is 00:11:29 noise oh my god i'm the face the face of the revolution where the fuck have you've been yeah revolution you think they could have this off without me it's me who made this happen i have the vision i have vision sure you do oh no he could tear it down from within have them turning against each other. How about you and Velvet manage backstage? Oh, man. You don't want us coming out? It's not right away.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Don't worry. You'll have your time. Thanks, babe. Oh my god. See? I'm in charge here. Are you? Excuses and lies seem to still be your specialty.
Starting point is 00:12:12 I try. I mean, they're in hell. Can I just take a moment to say Lilith would be so proud. Ooh. Come on, let me hear it. They have no idea Lillitha's playing into their hands. Take on the angel, menace! The angels? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Oh, hell yeah, daddy up. There's about like 80s rock. you're getting way too big for your screen now i'm here and drop the punishment it's gonna be me i am a leaving aspect of the air-bed yeah goes into his genre of song and we can make hell great again make hell great again make hell great What would happen if we could run this shit? I mean, let's be honest. They know their audience.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Oh, yeah. There's no way yet. We got the number. We got the thunder. That's annex their real estate. Not by redemption. By taking over heaven. Tell me hell.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Are you satisfied? No, no. Smite me. Silence me. That's all you angels know how to do. Remind that he's an angel. the people's voice and feigning as the people's voice hello they're here to silence me oh my god a little scared scared little man we are sorry
Starting point is 00:14:10 oh oh really you're sorry for what exactly oh Greg everything for allowing the extermination of your people Oh, just that. And what do you have here? Sorry, packages. Are those gift baskets? You are apologizing for genocide with gift baskets? Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:14:34 That's what a sinner's soul is worth to heaven, huh? Oh, my God. He's not wrong there. You are here to flaunt your power in front of us because you can't stand that hell managed to land a pretty damn big hit on you. Oh, Lutz. That's not it at all. We wanted to apologize.
Starting point is 00:14:54 She didn't have brought loot. No. After everything heaven did to us, why would any of us forgive you? They're not apologizing for forgiveness. They're apologizing because it's the right thing to do. Oh, wow. What a negativity here. Charlie should speak.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Taunting us with how little we matter to them. Uh, yeah, there's no resolve around the corner on this one. Do you know how many sinners died? And each extermination? Thousands. Wow. They didn't know. Not the picture stop.
Starting point is 00:15:30 You got to control with rage. First Lucifer threatens us. Now this. Wait, what? Dad? Do not see me. I'm not here. You're dreaming.
Starting point is 00:15:44 This is a dream. Oh my God. He is so unreliable. Hell! Will rise Yeah Hell will rise Hell will rise
Starting point is 00:15:57 Say it with me now Greg Hell will rise But Angel's could take them all out If they need to She's this isn't going How we wanted at all They literally say enough
Starting point is 00:16:09 What you got, Sarah? Whoa Cinnets like you are the reason I allowed for the extermination in the first place. Power-hungry and violent. Oh, no. This angel admits it. She called the extermination to silence the sinners speaking out, empowering each other. You did it to keep us down.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Damn. Consider this a declaration of Holy War. Oh, there it is. Holy War. When we pay you a visit, we won't be bringing baskets. We'll be bringing decimation. That'll put you in caskets. Wow.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Pretty cool. Good rhyme. No, no, no, no, wait, no, please. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, hello. By the look on your face, I say the gift baskets were a major success. Nope, nope.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Something, uh, not chill happened down there. Not chill. I mean, Box isn't entirely off. They have been horrible. I promise things aren't as bad as they're making them out to be, please. Somebody at some point has to stop war. That's the whole point. Dad, I know you're here.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Stop mad, Matt. Oh, my God. You threatened, Fox? Sweetie. I promise I was just trying to help. Okay, you see, Vav knew over there told me you were having trouble. What happened? He ruined.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Everything. No, he did it. The angels were here to set things right. But thanks to him, and apparently you, Fox was able to spin it. Again. No, it would have happened without him. Why didn't you ask me? Because you aren't listening to me.
Starting point is 00:18:04 You're hyperfixating on what he's saying about you. Yeah. The hotel, he is ruining. Charlie. You are hurting the hotel. Yeah. Go baggy. If you don't care about what I'm trying to do, then I can just do it myself.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Charlie! Oh, no. You want to bury your head in the bullshit. Be my guest. Think about how much more this affects Vaggy, too. Like, the whole heaven angle. Right, yeah, that's true. She's missing an eye.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Like, I think you should leave, dad. Oh, no, what a flip. You fucked things up for me enough. Wow, this is the most irrational we've seen Charlie. Okay. It pushed to the edge. last time she wanted dad and now she's pushing dad out darkest night of the soul Greg
Starting point is 00:18:58 the account holder on this line is unavailable where are you she might be the next episode she must show up in the next episode she has to yeah me alive right now. It was this hot tea. I'd love to hear it.
Starting point is 00:19:21 With her song, she rallied the sinners of hell to attack heaven in an effort to liberate us. What's the deal with him in Lila? I don't know. I merely wish to finish what she started. Carmilla. I have no interest in engaging in this war. See, my associate, Velvet here came along today
Starting point is 00:19:38 specifically to apologize about her childish action. I remember that. You should cut her some slack. You know, she's still pretty new. to the overlord biz But that doesn't change things That was to defend Make no mistake, Carmilla
Starting point is 00:19:54 War is coming You're either with me Or against me This guy is such a good manipulator You think they won't come for you Help me protect hell Carmilla And I'll help you protect Them
Starting point is 00:20:08 Wow I'll build your weapon Wow Emperor Palpatine You surrendered yourself to Amia overlord? You know he does profess allegiance to hell, but his true alliance lies only with himself. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:27 This is not about sides, Zestiel. You know better than to pay heed to his words. I'm happy she's back. The angels are coming, Zestiel, and I can't. I won't lose anyone else. My loyalty is to my own, my girls. You. The angels really weren't coming.
Starting point is 00:20:46 My truest wish is. That you cometh to thine senses post haste. For when you do, I shall return to your side. Yes, Chil, I... They had the opportunity for all this war to end. They had the opportunity for peace. It's just in. A historic deal has been struck between box tech and carmine industries.
Starting point is 00:21:07 What? Oh, come on. Oh, my God, his outfit. Ryan has no business screaming like that. I told you, Princess, I'm done playing therapist. I ain't good at it. Apple juice. Well, I don't know. I don't really want to speak to her right now.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Besides, she's perfectly fine doing whatever she wants behind my back. Well, Husk, if you see Charlie, can you let her know I've been doing everything around the hotel already? So, ha ha! Enough! Stop Husse, sell this. I'm so fucking done with this petty high school bullshit. Yeah. I'm out!
Starting point is 00:21:38 No, you can't leave. The bar needs you. Too bad. Alice is gone, so I'm gone. What about Angel? Where is Angel? What about him? Is a grown up?
Starting point is 00:21:49 Doesn't need me. Great, now someone has to take over the bar, too. Fuck my life. It's not just your life, honey. He started this resistance to take back our power by force. She wanted blood. Now let's spill some blood. And he's doing all this in the name of Lilith.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Yeah. I can't believe Carmilla would side with that low-life garbage. I have to talk to her. We, come on. We should both go. Nifty, I can't. I believe I'm saying this, you're in charge. Hooray!
Starting point is 00:22:20 Rise, children. It's five. Ew. Fuck! Oh, no. This place hasn't changed a bit. Oh, no, don't smile about that. Gonna win big this time, I can feel it.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Lucky seven, yeah! This is where I'm meant to be. Nope. You know, it's been such a long time since I've been out on my own. Is our first song of the episode? Uh, yeah. It kind of feels like the wrong time to feel sorry for myself. Loser Baby.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Well, then another, then another and another. Loser Baby is still my favorite song in the franchise. La La La La La La. Isn't the ice? Really cool animation. Love in a butter. Don't have love when it comes in a bottle. No.
Starting point is 00:23:17 How it just got blurry. And then the anger kicks in. Oh, my God. Wow. That was a cool song. That was unreal. That was like a jazz song playing exactly to every emotional mood swing he was at. That was cool.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Love and a bar. I know not time for this lesbian drama. What is it you want? We should never go to war. Heaven doesn't want to hurt us anymore. They know that there's a better way. How do you know heaven is no longer a thing? when Vox just declared a war.
Starting point is 00:23:49 They won't just surrender. Why join Vox now? The same reason I supplied you all with the weapons to defend yourselves. When a fight is to come, I will protect my own. This is very Middle East coded. You started this war. Why do you still insist on heaven being the answer when you know firsthand what they are capable of?
Starting point is 00:24:14 There's so much blame. Yeah. We should never let ourselves become them. Yeah. My mother believes that there was... Manif is gone. Her beliefs don't matter. No, that's not true.
Starting point is 00:24:26 War is coming and I am choosing the winning side. Oyvei. It's been so very long. Do you think it's really angel or is he just seeing that? No, I'm pretty sure it's angel. Close your eyes because you're going off the deep end again. Rush for their royal flush But you take what you can get
Starting point is 00:24:52 You want to spend your chips On these rosy lips Trying to get me next to you It sounds like it could legit be on the radio Good luck out there, boys Wow, that was so hot Yeah, everyone out What do you want, Fox?
Starting point is 00:25:16 I'm already struggling to find a co-star that can keep up with Angel. I may need to borrow Angel dust for a bit. What? I'm not going to wait in the wings again while you and Angel take center stage. Oh, Val. Is that jealousy, I hear? Yeah, it has a multitude of emotions. We gotta push the fan favors to the front to get more screen time.
Starting point is 00:25:38 It means nothing in the long run. Just do me this little, tiny, little favor, and you know. Oh my God, Vox always gets what he wants. I don't see this part in the script Funny how you make time for us when you need something I was just about to fill you in we were just talking Seems more like Meggy Good
Starting point is 00:26:04 Valentino you will listen and you will call Angel Dust here tonight Wow Why shit doesn't work on me. Whoa. You just do whatever the fuck you want anyway, all for your stupid fucking plan, right? Callister's causing a wedge.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Anyone else got shit to say? I'm from fucking Florida. Oh, he cracked his glass. Nifty, I told you to watch over the hotel. What are you been doing the whole time? Yeah. What would you think would happen? That's cute.
Starting point is 00:26:42 I've been doing this whole time. This. Oh, that's kind of impressive. actually. Now what? That was great. Are you okay? I thought about what you said the other day.
Starting point is 00:26:56 She doesn't look like herself. It's about me, about my mom, and you were right. So, fat nuggets sat on the icing. Yeah, we cannot eat that. I know it's been hard on you. It's hard sometimes to feel like you aren't hearing me, but I just want you to know it's okay. I still love you. Oh.
Starting point is 00:27:15 I got so caught up. in all the drama and my mom. Yes, you did. This hotel was my way of finishing what she started. Oh, what a gentle hug, right on the stomach. Because if I could make it work, maybe she'd be proud of me. Maybe she'd come back and tell me what I did to make her leave. That approval she's been looking for.
Starting point is 00:27:34 And now Fox is declaring a war, and Carmilla's right. I started it, and I'm an hypocrisy of my dreams. You're going to die. Whoa. Your hand, my hand, your body, and I would stand the fire in life. Because anyone who finds out in hell can do anything, baby. Oh, my goodness. Damn.
Starting point is 00:28:01 The rest is easy, baby. Yeah. Shut up. You know that I love you, but you're forgetting who we are. You're forgetting who we are. You'll find love in hell Can do anything, baby You and me don't need no one else
Starting point is 00:28:23 To make it through the crazy Oh, hell yeah Baby The rest is easy baby So cute That was awesome That was awesome They really feel like Harley and Poison Ivy
Starting point is 00:28:39 A loser That's so good Finally living up to your name, huh? I didn't know you performed here Loser Sorry for pushing you into that Should have realized it was a It's fine
Starting point is 00:28:52 Huh I've accepted that redemption's Not really for people like me Are you still mad I saved your life I'm just not worth saving No honey That's why he was pushing him away earlier See you at the hotel tonight, Whiscus
Starting point is 00:29:07 No no no you won't Yeah I will He's blushing He got a little crush on him i think it's mutual change of plans you were brought out for the night in there do i collect for you or or have they paid i'll do my best daddy you want me to come find you or are you just like really small or something oh oh fox what is he doing oh no sorry for the sudden visit I just need to borrow that empty little head of yours.
Starting point is 00:29:49 How the hypnosis works on him. I'd like to see you fucking try. Oh no. I've been wanting to do that. Oh no. Oh no. It's almost cute how you scream every time. How do you think I was always one step ahead of the princess? What?
Starting point is 00:30:12 Think back. Any late-night jobs? You can't quite remember. Oh my god. I haven't been watching. Oh, you asshole. Oh, it's so bad. Charlie ain't looking too good under pressure.
Starting point is 00:30:31 We did it! Adoption is possible, Vackey! Give me the tea later. I'll let you an alleged secret. Oh, no. I would never. Oh, but you already did? No.
Starting point is 00:30:44 But I think you. Your time at the hotel has come to an end. Oh, that's really sad. He's going to stand up Husk. No, Greg, he's always being taken advantage of. Yeah, and Husk does show up. I thought about our talk. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Look who's back. Somebody needs to keep you guys drunk. Huh. Hasn't been answering my texts either. Something ain't right. Oh, they're going to team up. We faced impossible odds before. Together we can do it again.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Thank you for keeping the faith that I lost control of. So cute. Oh, don't, oh, come on. Don't, don't, don't, don't crack it, no. Charlie, my lovely daughter, who I love and miss. What's popping? Dad, I need to talk to you. I'll send you my location, okay?
Starting point is 00:31:45 doesn't sound like her no it doesn't uh oh no it looks like we got our tower that was him the fuck what the fuck was that what the screaming oh the streaming rain all right ladies and gentlemen we just watched the episode five and six yep of what show of has been hotel baby Of Hasman Hotel.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Greg knew all that information. He was just quizzed me. Oh, look at the background of this. Is an apple and a serpent also. Can you see it? That's pretty cool. The start of Lucy, Lucy. What?
Starting point is 00:32:28 Start of Lucy Lucy. Lucifer. Oh. I don't know what you. Or Adam. Oh, yeah. Start of Lucy Lucy, Lucy, yes, yes. Or in this context.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Adam and Lola, actually. Yes, oh, Lucy, Lucy. did you have a favorite song here um let's see i know i did which one was it that we were freaky oh the charlie the baggie song that was sick um yeah the of the the duet but mostly baggy so good how about you i would probably opt for that one and then hmm probably the Hustong. We opened with a really cool song in episode five, too. Yeah, it was a really
Starting point is 00:33:18 good one. With everybody, that was cool. Establishing the grounds of where Vox was currently at. So, how are you feeling about this show? I mean, we were expressing a little bit of concerns last week, last week when we were here filming last week. Right. How are you feeling now with
Starting point is 00:33:33 what the progress is of these next two episodes? I much preferred five and six to three and four, with that being said we only have two episodes left and I'm feeling I'm feeling that the clock ticking like while we still have so much to do because what we didn't really address in five and six was a lot of heaven stuff like we haven't moved forward well it depends on where the season's going to end right like we now have declared a full-blown war and we have two episodes to deal with that theoretically
Starting point is 00:34:05 so I'm so glad we got to see more of Baggy and Charlie together I'm happy that that Vox is like really this huge, huge threat. I think there's a lot of parallels. Obviously, they literally say make hell great again. There's a lot of parallels between this war and current wars. And there's a lot of parallels between the divide in the United States right now. So I think that this shows seeing big swings. I'm really enjoying it.
Starting point is 00:34:38 And also, I'm still a little nervous about us only having two episodes. How about you? I think it's said a lot of heavy lifting over a lot of the concerns that we were having. Like, I like everything they're doing with Vox way more this time around. I still feel like he's defeatable in some way, you know? Like, he doesn't, he hasn't reached this point yet where it's like, how do you take this guy down? How is he undefeatable? And, you know, what they're commenting, what they're using it as a political tapestry of, I think is pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:35:10 because even though it's very relevant to today, you can watch this show like 10, 20 years from now and you don't even need, like, today's context to understand it, you know. Well, history tends to repeat itself, so that's not true. Yeah, yeah. Like, what's going on today is not exactly a first time of it all. So, yeah, watching him use, like, media manipulation, the propaganda, weaponizing rage,
Starting point is 00:35:37 acting like he's one of the people, while also disrespecting current law and order and leadership. It's a neat way to draw it, and it's a cool way to see how he rises in strength, and the machinations of how it's all formed where the heaven wanting to have resolution, and then, because I even found myself, like, here with you, going, well, you know, it was not wrong about that.
Starting point is 00:36:01 I'm like, why would they forgive? And then you said that, well, the fighting has to stop at some point, and I was like, oh, yeah, that's right. They don't want to fight anymore, and I was already, I was caught up in the speech of, well, fuck, man. Yeah, heaven's got to run them wrong. This should probably go kill their ass. I think that's the whole point of what, like I, I love that they're addressing this because when in life we go tit for tat, it's not tit for tat.
Starting point is 00:36:25 It's tit for tat. And then tit, tat, tit, tat, tit, tat. Like, and I think that obviously, like, not to make it too crazy political, but we have seen that in a lot of different places, but especially with, what's gone on in the last hundred years, thousands of years and especially in the last two years in the Middle East, I think that there's been a lot of commentary about who started
Starting point is 00:36:49 something. And then also commentary about what the United States place is in helping. And I kind of felt like Carmella felt like a little bit like U.S. coded here because while she's supplying weapons for the people
Starting point is 00:37:06 of hell, she's doing it because you think it's the right thing to do to protect her family. Right. And it's easy to get caught up, us looking at this, being like, no, heaven really effed over hell. It was a full-blown genocide. We see thousands of people every year dying.
Starting point is 00:37:25 That's what they were doing every year. It's easy for us to be like, yeah, we want vengeance. It's hard to be like, and when does the killing stop? Yeah. And that's what we all have to ask ourselves, like, how do we? If you really are somebody who wants peace, are you willing to let go of the past in order to move forward towards peace?
Starting point is 00:37:47 And, yeah, I was really moved by that storyline in this because I, like you, Greg, it's, we now, we've lived in hell for a long time. So we love these people, and we're like, you guys totally effed us. But at the same time, so what are we going to do? Fight a war with heaven so that then they can kill us more and we can kill them more and then us as in hell?
Starting point is 00:38:08 I think that it's an interesting way to tackle bigger issues and it's an allegory for a lot of other wars throughout history of course because a lot of wars are centered around the same thing but that just it spoke to me in this particular time period
Starting point is 00:38:25 even though it also speaks to a lot of other things yeah the commentary is pretty strong and timely I guess this comes down to but how's the the immediate writing of the characters go in there because I like pulling back
Starting point is 00:38:41 and looking at all that and like to me as much as like the commentary is strong in the first season it's more characters and I find myself thinking more about what they're talking about more than I am the actual character experiences this time. Does that make sense? Tell me more what you mean.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Like what kind of moments are you thinking more about than the character experiences? Like you care more about the theme than you do about the individuals. I mean yeah I find that like when we're having the most exciting conversations or our takeaways are off. Yeah, you're right. It's often associated more with like
Starting point is 00:39:13 what the show was talking about versus you know like watching like Lucifer coming to the equation in the first season or angels struggle as as an addict and dealing with the sexual abuse in his life.
Starting point is 00:39:30 And do you find that to be a good thing that we care more about plot than people or bad thing? It's I don't of it's good or bad. I mean, it's, it's like, it's interesting. Like, the character stuff is still there. Like, the song, that's what makes the song's good.
Starting point is 00:39:46 You know, like, the song with Vaggy and Charlie is really strong because it is about them as, you know, how she, how Vaggy was able to honor the principles and the faith system that Charlie lost sight of and because this whole time she's been wanting the approval of her mom and try to get her mom back. that was a really strong moment it was it was a beautiful moment because we i said early on the episode i was like she's knowing the piss out of me and yeah and it's because what and i i like that
Starting point is 00:40:19 they justify that this is a bigger deal for charlie like i think last week you said why is charlie caring so much about this redemption that thing now that we know what heaven is yeah and there is something bigger going on here which is like she's trying to finish what her she believes her mom wants and started and what would make her mom proud. And she's not doing that because her mom's gone. She's doing that in hopes that her mom loves her again. Yeah, yeah. That was like, I remember
Starting point is 00:40:45 we were speaking about how she really wants validation and that's why she's going to these like extreme lengths to change the narrative. And that carries over from season one. So I think it's still strong. How do you feel about the husk stuff and Angel Dust?
Starting point is 00:41:01 Good stuff. Good stuff. Do you like it? Do you? I like it? Yeah. Yeah, I was happy, I mean, you called this first, and pretty quickly, that it was Angel's turn to pull Husk out. Yeah, yeah. And it seems like in that one moment he does, and yet now Angel is under this spell. And so Husk's going to have to pull Angel out yet again
Starting point is 00:41:26 because we see Husks like something's wrong. Well, it probably has to physically save him. Yeah. And then they can profess their love for one another. You think that's where we're going? I never quite picked up on love between them in terms of romantic. Oh, really? Until this episode.
Starting point is 00:41:44 Then it was like, oh, okay, I guess he, I wasn't sure is more accurate. And when he started blushing is when I started a wonder, like, okay, I guess maybe it is actually that. I feel like we got that in episode four of season one. But yes, I'm with you that we, it hasn't been a consistent through line where it's been like, oh, clearly they're pining. after each other yeah i thought they were just friends but this is the world of hasbin hotel where every gay guy wants to sleep with every other gay guy that one line am i gay when angel does comes out you know hell who cares everyone's gay here apparently yeah um the nifty stuff is so funny i don't understand why these characters keep trusting nifty like what is that character
Starting point is 00:42:28 she's she's a little bit more cohesive than last season but she's you know she's doing her It's weird what they did with Alistair and Angel Dust because I don't know about you. Did you feel like Angel Dust was not really as much of a presence so far? Before this? Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Like he had that one episode about him.
Starting point is 00:42:50 Totally. And then here I thought it was kind of clever to actually not make him as much of a presence. That way we didn't pick up on any of this manipulation of the hypnosis technique that Box was doing on him. Because we did see those text messages, but I didn't read them quickly. and didn't know what they were about yeah yeah exactly i remember there was like one point out like a shit ton of messages yeah i didn't know what that was about either but if they were focusing more on angel dust i don't know if we would have made him more suspect but i thought that was kind of clever to like remove him away from the equation that way you're not suspecting it and i kind of feel
Starting point is 00:43:23 they're doing something similar to alister where he's intentionally weaving this tapestry of everyone turning on against each other amongst the vs and so if we're not fully paying attention to alister we're not going to 100% be mining what's going on there. We saw him completely manipulate Vox when he's like, take the stage alone basically and convinces him to do that. And then when Velvet turns her chair and she's been sitting next to Alistair, it's very clear to me that before Vox walked in, Alistair very clearly was talking to Velvet and to Val.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Yeah. And he's planting more seeds of doubt in their minds. they immediately are doubting more than they ever have. So I'm with you, and I think we'll see a little bit more of that. How much do you want the last two episodes to focus on Lily and Sarah and Abel and what's going on there? And how much do you want it to feature Lilith, like the bigger part of this, versus how much do you want it to feature what's going on in hell? I would say I would prefer
Starting point is 00:44:38 I would prefer if they finally brought Lilah then I think they've been dangling this carrot for a little too long and I don't even know that's the right phrase no yeah that was right dangling the carrot yeah who am I supposed to be what's it a horse is that how that what people do they dangle carrots to their horses to make the horse run really you used the right expression i just don't know what the i started questioning like who do you wait
Starting point is 00:45:06 who was the original intention of the dangling of the carrot yeah for a horse really is that what comes oh i didn't know i mean i'm 99 percent short we have to know you can't proceed what's crazy about is that you used it i know and i question whether or not i had the metaphor down simile? God. Okay. Daily carrots.
Starting point is 00:45:28 I'm offering someone incentive like a reward to do something. The idea of leading a donkey by holding a carrot. Donkey. I thought it was a horse. Yeah, you were way wrong.
Starting point is 00:45:36 I still think it's a horse. Donkeys and horses are two very different animals. Okay. Well. And what's there between a metaphor and a simile? A simile is like.
Starting point is 00:45:47 And a metaphor isn't like. Okay. So I lost my original point. What are you hoping for? They're dangling the carrot of Lilith for too long and I agree. Yeah, yeah. They've been dangling that. And I agree.
Starting point is 00:46:01 And I agree. I agree with that. Because I think they were building up for this whole moment of her explosion of her character, Charlie, to do all that. But I'm like, I kind of feel like we've been through a lot of this already with Charlie to a certain extent in season one already.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Like we already, it was already a big acknowledgement in season one that she's was really doing this because she they kept calling her out that she wants validation and approval and her dad shows up I'm like I kind of feel like we went through a good amount of this already speaking of her dad what do you think about
Starting point is 00:46:35 them call what do you think the situation is here with them calling Lucifer yeah what they say like we have our power source now that's what they said because he's an actual he's an actual angel too Lucifer yeah but about Lucifer
Starting point is 00:46:51 but also about angel that they had they're in. What is your question? Exactly. What do you think their game plan is about calling Lucifer over? Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:03 You know, at the end. Can you like strip I don't know? Angel juice. I've watched the show. You haven't seen Supernatural, have you? No, only a little. Okay, well, they have angels in the show
Starting point is 00:47:16 and sometimes you have to like take the Angels ju-ju from them. And so I'm wondering if that's what they do. Because we want to get to heaven. Well, the way to take down the angels is only with angel killer, is with the weapons the angels have already crafted. So maybe in some way to arm themselves to get into,
Starting point is 00:47:38 or like where you're saying, to pierce the veil of heaven's gates, you need some type of angel, ju-ju. They're using Carmen to make the weapons right now because she has that. Yeah. The weapons of mass destruction. Okay. which is a carrot when you dangle it is a metaphor
Starting point is 00:47:56 not a simile yeah simile is this is like oh fascinating well what are you hoping for in the finale of this are you okay with the lack of lilith that we've had how are you feeling about Charlie's arc
Starting point is 00:48:12 let's start right there how are you feeling about where Charlie's at with this she's not particularly like my favorite this season well I like that we finally get to. She's doing this to impress her mom, but I agree. She's not my favorite the season either. I think even last season I like Vaggy best, though, and I do
Starting point is 00:48:29 love Vaggy. Vaggy and Angel really both speak to me. But in terms of answering your first question and kind of having that tie in here, I feel like we might not get Lillith for this season. That would suck. They'd be
Starting point is 00:48:45 doing that thing that I said they'd be doing. Bangling the Carat. About the season two, like not completing your narrative. Yeah. I mean, Lucifer came in kind of late in season one. He came in like a one episode in the middle, then he came in very late again in the finale. But I'm right that we have two more episodes?
Starting point is 00:49:01 Yeah, I believe so. Okay. Because, yeah, I mean, we're referencing her a lot. And, you know, I do also think it's very interesting. Vox keeps being like, this is what Lilith would want. It's like kind of reminding me of MLK Jr. a little bit where people constantly are like, this is, like, posting. This is the MLK's quote.
Starting point is 00:49:21 on this and on this and it's like you're completely misinterpreting his words here and you don't you didn't know him and there's taken out of context everything is different and and using her as the North Star just I wonder if they think it's enough that we keep referencing her and she is a huge deal in season three well that's religion though that's like that's how that's how you have like so many different denominations of Christianity You're 100% correct. It's from like a billion people being like, well, actually, here's what this part of the Bible means. And then some guy shows up is like, you know, I've got a third Bible now.
Starting point is 00:49:59 You know, so that's what they're doing with little. That's totally right. And in that comparison, then Charlie is Jesus. And Jesus is like, no, this is what my parent actually thinks. And nobody's listening. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. That's a metaphor.
Starting point is 00:50:17 Anology? What's an analogy? Analogies An analogy I know an analogy when it's used I don't know how to describe analogy would be what I just did
Starting point is 00:50:31 like that is as if it was MLK Yes What is the clear delineation then Between a metaphor and an analogy Metaphor is metaphorical language As a metaphor As opposed to a specific example
Starting point is 00:50:47 As opposed to a specific example like that, metaphor could be dangling a carrot. Got it. But if you use like, then it's that an expression. It is. God. Get us out of here, man. How are we supposed to sell a screenplay. We can't tell you the difference between an expression analogy.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I can tell you what onomat appears. Metaphor. Yeah. And let's make sure we got all our bases covered because we're not really going to talk too much about it. And then Vaggy having a very empowering song was really cool. That was the sexiest they've ever been because they were definitely doing it. And they did it through the art of dance. They are so similar.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Do you watch Harley Quinn the animated series? I've only seen the first season. Okay. So you're not. I've seen the first two seasons. No. Whoever one is the one that ends up with them driving off. This is so Harley and Poison Ivy.
Starting point is 00:51:41 Yeah. So, so similar. I mean, I know the character's well enough to understand. Right. Of course. Of course, of course, but just, I mean specifically in the animated show, this is, it's their dynamic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:52 Which I love. That's my favorite animated show, so. I wonder if this is all going to end just some giant conversation. Like we're going to be on the brink of war. And then Lillis shows up to clear the air because you're right. We haven't gone to the heaven spot to see what their POV is after all this hell backlashes that they've received. And that's like. A star falling from the sky.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Yes. Good. That's an analogy, isn't it? No. This is complicated. Move like water. Brusely. Be like water.
Starting point is 00:52:34 But yeah. Do you have any final straying thoughts that are lingering in the air here? I love this world. I'm super glad that we're doing this. And I'm looking forward to the next two. And I hope they don't disappoint. Yeah, I feel so bad for Angel, man. Oh, it's a fucking heartbreak.
Starting point is 00:52:50 Yeah, no, it was he needed to understand you just now. Yeah, I feel so bad for Angel who is so heartbreaking. He's just tossed around so much. And I could hear myself clearly. No, I got it. I think I just spit. We should leave. You're right.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Well, guys, are you tired of Roxy's spitting? Leave your thoughts down below. You can subscribe your only fans, which will spit on you for $50 a month. Wow. Imagine if you could spit on you. somebody threw a screen. Hock toa. Is there a way to do that?
Starting point is 00:53:21 No. Shove someone spit on them? Some people would like that. Oh, well. They'd have to cover your gas money, though. Over my dead body. There are people who, like, produce only fans? I don't know how you, like, possibly pull that off.
Starting point is 00:53:37 That seems like too much work. We know somebody who does that. We do? Who produces only fans? Yes. Like, they don't have a... only fans right we know someone yeah are they public with this information uh i'll share it with you afterwards all right do you guys agree with jeremy johns is only fans stop spreading weird rumors i will spread whatever i have to to get the truth that's how i do it i
Starting point is 00:54:07 smoke it out through lies all right all right guys well thanks for being here see you for the finale Thank you.
