Roxy Striar, Tara Erickson, & Andrew Gordon react to IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 — “The Black Spot,” the penultimate chapter of HBO’s Stephen King prequel series. Set in 1962 Derry, Maine and developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, the show has been steadily peeling back the town’s poisoned history and Pennywise’s 30-year cycle of fear. Episode 7 airs Sunday, December 7, 2025 on HBO and Max, and multiple official previews say it’s extra-long (feature-length) and pivotal, treating the Black Spot tragedy as a major turning point for the season’s mythology. As teased at the end of Episode 6, “The Black Spot” centers on the looming attack against the Black-owned club — an event long referenced in Stephen King’s IT lore — and shows how human hatred and Pennywise’s influence feed into one another. Previews suggest the night erupts into chaos, pulling the Hanlons, Hallorann, and the kids into a desperate attempt to survive and uncover what’s really driving Derry toward violence, while the town’s buried history threatens to ignite into something supernatural and catastrophic. Starting point is 00:01:50 The Penultimate. The best part about that is, 30 seconds before we started, I said, Andrew, what episode number is in? And he said seven and I said, yep, I'm listening out loud. What a journey we have been on. Through the floating and the friendship and the loss of many children that you guys in the comments say, I don't care about kids because I don't cry during. And it's been one heck of a ride.
Starting point is 00:02:15 We have two episodes left and we're so excited for it. I'm Roxy. This is Tara. We're the she-jex. This is Andrew. We're the Jew J-Jex. People spell it J-U in the comments. I saw some of those.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I guess y'all don't know a lot of shoes. And we are here. They covered the It movies, if you haven't already checked that out. I'm a big TV person, and we absolutely are adoring this show. Let me ask you this, Tara. How's today? Today, you know, I'm a little tired. A little tired of been yawning a lot, but I've got a liquid I be in here, so I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:02:47 I'm ready to go. I'm excited for this episode. I am, even though my voice may not seem like it. No, I think you seem empty ready. Listen, all right, how's today going for you? It's good, you know, the advice you gave me, and also with Rich, I gave a lady friend an iPatch, and she cannot stop adoring me and texting me. It really does work, guys.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Wow. It goes a long way, being thoughtful. I patch gate strong. Yes. How are you doing, by the way? I am doing very well. I have been full of reading the comments, and here's a question that they have, that they have posed to us that I want
Starting point is 00:03:24 to pose to you guys. Okay. Why is his family heirloom an eyepatch? We have follow-up questions. We really do. But we didn't stop to ask why did this man have an eye patch so well preserved in his attic and what does that say about what else is in the
Starting point is 00:03:40 attic? Serious questions that we have to ask is Pennywise involved. I guess we will find out. The biggest thank you in the world to you guys at home, the patrons. Patreon.com slash a real rejects. That's where you can sync up with your own copy. that's where Greg and John cover stuff exclusively. The best part about you guys being patrons
Starting point is 00:03:56 is that you help to keep the lights on. We have had copyright claim after copyright claim here. We've moved studios this year. We got to support the hosts and the entire studio and we're able to do that because of you guys. So we love our patrons. Thank you guys so much. Fellow Reject, Greg from an alternate timeline,
Starting point is 00:04:11 is here to let you know that we have launched three new Stranger Think shirts in honor of the final season. First one up, Universal Inspired Monster Poster of VecN. And this is from our friend Janine. I came up with this idea a long time ago. I love those classic universal monster posters. I'm just so happy to see this brought to life.
Starting point is 00:04:29 I'm going to get a print out of this. The second one up that we have here is from the mind of Aaron Alexander, from the artist Sammy, who we worked with plenty of times. Doctor, Stranger, Things. Need I say more? Come on. How come no one's come up with this yet? And the third one, I'm wearing it right now. Reject things.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Thanks, Alex, for coming up with it. And thanks, Andrew, for snagging my size. And course, we have our classic ones up there as well. We have a ton to peruse through. Anyone you buy is an amazing way to support everyone here who works in front and behind the camera. You can scan this barcode right here on screen. If you're interested, go to the link in the description box and pin comment. If you end up not buying one, that's a okay.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I'm just glad they exist so now I can be wearing them. Let's get back to the video, people. You know? Uh-huh. Oh, 1908. My favorite year. I guess we're going to see a little young Madeline Stowe, Mrs. Kirsch, that we didn't recognize from Itchapter 2.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Don't pretend like you knew that. Thank you, the comments for letting us know. I should have recognized it. Where's Bill Scars guard? I want to see him. There we go. Okay, here we go. It's a good way to get him out of...
Starting point is 00:05:43 Makeup. Yep. The EP, got to get your money's worth. Yeah, right? Oh, never mind. He'll like, sorry, Roxy. I'm still going to wear sub-bakeup. That's legit cool.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Yeah. If I was a kid, that would be exciting. Minds you of like, Pee-E-Herman-esque. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Nailed it. Yeah. I like that we just call her Madeline Stowe. Mrs. Kirsch.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Yes, the youngest Mrs. That's why she's helping out. Your clown friend died? What's going on? Black and white is giving art. It really is. Terrifier. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:50 It's cool that we're getting some lore and payoff from that scene in Itchapter 2. A lot of people said that they wanted one question to answer by this show, which is why the clown. Takes the form of Pennywise. Yeah, and I think it's very cool that they are giving the fans what they want on this one. So many kids in the town knew that knew of Pennywise, so it makes sense. These kids' faces. I wonder if they're using mashed potatoes for ice cream because that ice cream's been like that.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Yeah, right? It's very steady. I also love the sound designs, too. Like whackamoles. Sorry for your loss. Oh. Okay. Hey, Andy Muscietti.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Who did I think you, Javier Bardem? I actually saw some comments agree with you that they said it did. It really did. Is he going to freak out? So you had to freak out. Oh no. Oh, God. Aggressive.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Aggressive balloon popping. I don't like it. The sound design is so essential in horror shows and movies like this and it is so strong here. That's creepy. What is this person doing? Good way to build up tension. Changing perspective. That's the same circus that Francis went to earlier.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Night days are falling to love. Are we going to hear him? Ah. Ivy crowd. I'll wager it's even bigger tonight Oh, you'll wager now, would you? No more hanging about with the car shops I wish you could hear the way they talk about you, Papa.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Papa, you make them so happy. That's what she was calling him when Peeba's been anyways, Papa. Now what are you doing back there, Pumpkin? Tadda! Hey. Some burrow. There we go. That'll make sense.
Starting point is 00:09:13 I wanted to surprise you. My beautiful girl. Show me the bow. Ladies and gentlemen The first Father and Daughter act in its history Perry Wise and Perry Winkle's show Oh she didn't like that
Starting point is 00:09:36 No she didn't Clammed right up Perry Winkle that was mom's stage name Oh oh You can change it if you like No She was just alarmed Hmm
Starting point is 00:09:47 Get down her mom you ever miss the circus i miss the big crowds sure the roars oh the big tent will come a call in again you'll see and make it big time soon but this time my act will be different something new Oh, no. Oh, geez. Okay. Did you guys expect him to sound like that? I thought I was going to have a little more of his normal voice. Not really.
Starting point is 00:10:28 It makes sense that that's the taking his form. Yeah, yeah, totally. It does. It just threw me for a second, but it does make sense. Damn it, it's all coming off. So coming off. What were the initials, RF? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Oh, no. Don't go into the woods. You've got to see the real pet, or I guess, whatever it is, whatever form it takes. Is it a little kid for him? Who's there? The kid that was looking at the barn.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Oh, a little fellow. Oh, it's creepy. Looks like a lost boy. What are you looking at? Shows that away. Scram. The children seem drawn to you. Oh.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Oh, God. It's a strange thing for a young man to say. Why, he takes the form of Pennywise. Yeah, that makes sense. They were. I can't find my parents. Oh, geez. Me neither.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Oh. Will you help me find them? No. No. Can't you see? I'm busy. Oh What was that?
Starting point is 00:11:44 That's my mother. Oh. Oh, shit. You already said no. Stick to your... I know. When you hear someone in need like that, even if it is a trap.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Can't you see he's busy? Oh. Oh, God. Nope. Nope. I know, but he has no idea. Nope. I mean, who turns down a child who says, can you help me find my parents? Of course. He's just doing the good Samaritan thing. But he did turn him down. Right. Oh, last time Pennywise was ever seen. This one at least.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Oh. She's going to find his wig. Poor Kirsch. Have you seen my father? Good casting on her. She looks very similar. All the Madeline Stowe minis are good. They're well cast. Oh, that sucks for her. Yeah, she's so young. Honestly, you could do a lot with the circus in season three with Francis, with her. Oh, they already know what happened in the woods.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Oh, Snikis. Yeah. Oh, God. R. F, right? A G? I can't tell what that letter is. Wolves, maybe. Wolves. They've rolled these words.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Yeah, it couldn't be a G, right? really tough oh wow almost like the closing yeah it's a 1908 closure we'll now be rare I'll be something beyond compare I'll be noticed because I'll wear a smile and a ribbon in my hair should have worn my eye patch yeah that would be I was going to What about the high patch in my eye? That would be special rare. It is. Oh!
Starting point is 00:13:42 Wait, I'm glad we're back. Yeah, me too. I was like, oh, God. So a lot of people agreeing with you about it. Now it feels like sinners. Yeah. God, tell them to start some music. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Why aren't you yelling at everyone? Oh, God. That crowd gasp. I'm going to make this real simple. Almost looks like a vampire with that mask. He does. Give us what we want. We go away.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Okay. People were telling us also in the comments that Madeline Snow tip them off. You know the price? Should be ashamed. What? Go home. Now! You racist Fs.
Starting point is 00:14:27 What do you want? Hank Rogan. You know he's hiding here somewhere. You hand him over and you can get back to your party. No, no, no. There we go. See, this here, it's just a wreck facility for military personnel only. Well, and you won't mind if you have a quick look around.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Say we do. We're not asking. It's a military base. You can't. Look, I'm here. Oh, no. I'll go, just leave these good people alone. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Doing the right thing. Oh, God. I don't think so. There's no need for this to get messy, son. Okay, here we go. Freaking Bowers. Always such a bully, the family. We got guns, too.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Yeah, we do. Ours just happen to be government issue. Tell them. I suggest you fellas leave. Ain't nobody getting strung up today. Oh, no. Oh, God. I wish that he didn't out that he was there
Starting point is 00:15:30 so that they could have had, like, plausible. He just took his safety off. Yeah, saw it. Put them down. Put them down. Keep your guns pointed at them until they walk out. This isn't the way. Everybody on. Right, you're not a Mandalorian.
Starting point is 00:15:46 What we're supposed to do with you now? You know they're coming back. We got a truck out back. Get them there, sneak in on. See, I'm like, they're locking them inside. Are they going to burn the place? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Oh. They change the shot. Out to back, out of the back. Use the gun, shoot the doors open or something. I don't know. Stay calm. Okay, it's okay? Stay calm.
Starting point is 00:16:09 They look. They look. Carry the sales stuff. And they saw that there were kids in there. Oh, my God. Yeah, they did see that there were children in there. Oh, God. Oh.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Oh, no. Them seeing that there was kids and still doing that, I mean, just in general, it's diabolical. Bollical, but walking in. Oh, no. Hey, door shut too. Oh, God. Oh, no. Oh, this is bad.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Dude, I hope Leroy comes and saves them or I don't know how they're going to get out of this. Not everybody is. Well, they got to jump out the window. I got to go towards the guns. Oh, okay. Oh, my God. Yeah. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Oh, wow. Oh, my God. Oh, God. That's why he made that one little white girl leave. Well, this is why he was trying to give himself up. He didn't want everyone. Yeah, yeah. I'm just saying that's why the other guy was.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, yeah. He knew what they were going to do. This is a nightmare. God, this is terrible. This is a foreshadowing thing. for will unfortunately in a fire oh oh no what can he see what do you see what do you see oh whoa oh oh Oh, oh, God. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:18:12 Oh, God. Any time we see a person that we don't know well, they're gone. Yep. What did you find in there? You're going to get people down there? I think it's an escape, yeah. Oh, yeah, we know Dick Holler and out. How are you going to just leave right now?
Starting point is 00:18:29 You got to grab the kits. Oh, God. What are you saying, buddy? He sees dead people. Over here. Hey. That's one of the people Pennywise killed. Oh, baby.
Starting point is 00:18:56 I'm very, very stressed right now. Oh, God. Holy shit. Or is that... Take my hands. Oh, no. Just like the kid, take my hand. I go away out.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Oh. It started with a scream inside a quiet Maryland home. A mother trying to protect the family dog and her son in the grip of a violent hallucinogenic rage. By the time it was over, she was dead. And he claimed LSD made him do it. His name, David Minor, the fourth, and we talked to him. Listen to Invisible Choir every other week As we uncover the most haunting true crimes
Starting point is 00:19:35 You've never heard of Available wherever you get your podcasts This is such mayhem This is such mayhem Oh my god Oh, no. Mm-mm. What's the matter?
Starting point is 00:20:06 Do I have face on my face? Ugh. Oh! It's okay. You're okay. I got you. I'm gonna get you. Oh, boy, do you trust?
Starting point is 00:20:18 That with your eyes. Whoa. Seeing things. Oh, I think they see you too. He does such a good job of that laugh. Yeah, he does. So creepy. So creepy.
Starting point is 00:20:36 And a little foreshadowing for the end of Dr. Sleep. All their eyes be glowing now. With the hotel being burned ablaze. Where are the kids? Show me. Damn, Pennywise and Dick holler in that is so cool seeing that. Them knowing. So there were four kids in there, right?
Starting point is 00:20:58 Richie, Ronnie, Marge, and... And then the girl that left. No, and the other boy. Correct, yes. No one's getting out of there alive. He's right. They're cooked. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:12 You guys are disgusting, disturbing. It's not just about the children. It's about all the people. But, like, to walk in and then see all those innocent people. God damn, but I'll find him. But Ronnie's dad still alive. I didn't know if he was. Oh, come on, come on
Starting point is 00:21:30 Oh my goodness. Are we going to lose? I think Richie and I mean, Marge? Is that them that just got up? No. No, that was that movie. That's Ronnie and Will, right?
Starting point is 00:21:45 No, no, yeah, it is. Yeah, but inside it's still. Richie and Marge and Dick still in there with them. Yeah, I don't think we're going to obviously lose Dick, but I do know that it could be Ricky. Oh Jesus Marge with drunk Marge with her one eye right now
Starting point is 00:22:06 Totally What are they doing Something we're gonna make it out It's too small Oh my god he He's gonna put Marge in there It's like the door in Titanic Oh my god but he puts Marge and he's gonna close her in

Starting point is 00:25:18 He's abusive fuck. I don't even care right now. Hello, Papa. Oh, she sees him. She sees Pennywise behind him. Oh, God. Whoa. Shit.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Y'all could come at me, but. I thought those effects were great. That's disgusting. That's disgusting. Ooh, yeah. I did not want that.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Oh, why are we going? Oh, my God. Haven't you eaten enough? His show is fucking torture. I knew they would come if they thought that he was here. And there would be blood. See, she fucking did it. Yeah, she's one who told.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Just bang, bang, bang, bang. And you would come back. And you would tell me that I would. It was good. I have no sympathy for you anymore. I don't care. I don't even care that your dad died when you were a kid. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Show me the bow. Oh. Good callback. I feel like he's about to take her out. So when he... We see her in part too, but it's a supernatural element. When he embodies somebody, he gets all their memories? I mean...
Starting point is 00:26:47 I guess. Ew. That's not your dad, dude. I think that there's any chance Richie's alive or no. I'd love to be optimistic, but I'm scared. I don't think so. I love you.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Oh, no, why? Very, very good. Maybe. Now. It is thinking, bring me more. I'm going to sleep. What? Oh, the 27 years is up?
Starting point is 00:27:27 Don't you worry. I'll come back. No, no, no. I always do. No, no, don't leave me. Please, no. Oh. Oh, you should have let him walk away.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Come with me. the heck who are you I hope anybody's no dancing daddy you were not my father it took you this long to realize that you've done with him I'm so pissed at you I don't care
Starting point is 00:28:09 I ate him inside of me oh god he's reaching out for his baby girl oh no um to bupapa oh the blinding lights
Starting point is 00:28:35 she can't be floating in no time hello Max. Did you guys have sympathy for her? No, because she killed all those freaking people. I mean, yeah, from that perspective, of course. I didn't even see him.
Starting point is 00:28:56 That would be like the most incredible reveal if somehow Dick was able to get to safety. Right, right, right. Yeah, that would be wild. I don't care if it's recency bias. That's one of the most noble sacrifices ever seen on in a movie or TV. And he's a kid.
Starting point is 00:29:09 He was so brave. That's his head. That's sad. Oh, dude, I show him. No. Oh, buddy. I could not. Why are they doing that?
Starting point is 00:29:28 He was my favorite. Loved him. Yeah, he was the best. So many people would take that position and not let their loved one be there and he's like a real one. She will never find somebody like him. They don't make people like him.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Oh, no. Oh my God, these little actors are such stars. Lily doesn't even know yet. I know it's not your fault, but I will punch you in the face. I will punch you in the fucking face. Oh, she's like going to coma toast it. Oh, no. Because we saw when Beverly and was no longer scared she got into.
Starting point is 00:30:43 I will never, ever forgive any of them for what they did to Richie. Hell no. I'll deserve to die. Not the eye patch, is it? Oh. I said, you could have gotten yourself killed. I'm sorry. I'm just glad you're okay.
Starting point is 00:31:21 I'm okay. Mr. Alleran, he brought us out. Allard. Hey, Lynn. My dad. The woods. Oh, no, the woods? That is not the place you want to be.
Starting point is 00:31:33 No. March has a hangover. And heartbreak. Oh, God. He is surrounded. Oh, guys, I can't. It's okay. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:31:50 It's okay. It's all right. Got to get Lily with that artifact. You all right? No. No. She went running right from... Are you right?
Starting point is 00:32:00 No. I had to. Noise. Oh, crap. Now they won't stop talking to him. Yeah. What's it? What happened?
Starting point is 00:32:16 Did he get okay, brother? What they do was? Yeah, yeah. They were just in, like, huh? Did he get hit? Is he injured? Yeah. We got to get him out of here.
Starting point is 00:32:33 What if dad sees? He knows. Really? Give me a close, Mr. Roggan, if you don't mind. The thing is still out here. I'm not inclined to wait around. It ain't here no more. What'd you say, Airman?
Starting point is 00:32:47 Ain't here no more. I was here last night. I can help us find one of them pillars. What? Yeah. How? They don't know who you're talking about. No.
Starting point is 00:32:57 He's seeing the Native American woman. Yeah. It's like she's right there. What do we do? What do we do about Hank? I don't know, babe. I'll think of something. But for now, maybe you should take him back to the house.
Starting point is 00:33:16 I don't have... Yes. Derry? Like that he's finally in agreement with her. Whatever the reason... Eroy, whoever did this needs to pay. That's not our job, though, Shaw. How are you so calm?
Starting point is 00:33:25 It's not our job. It's living for dead bodies. Hmm. And we take our family and get out of this town to safety. It's kind of the only thing you can do. Yeah. The worst of all this shit is behind us. The Hanlins end up back in Derry.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Who's gonna tell Ray? Richie, parents, about what happened. Ugh. The augury has passed. Its feeding cycle is complete. Is it Rose? Is that her name? Yeah. It sleeps.
Starting point is 00:33:53 How many died at the black spot? Reports are still coming in, but according to the coroner, 23. And how many children were 17? All those people. And not a damn thing we can do about it, but watch. Focus on the life saved. The ones protected because we keep this thing in its cage. I can't focus on that
Starting point is 00:34:14 right now, Rose. See your shit asses in 27 years. See you for It Chapter 1 or just It? But I'm pumped. 1988, 1988, 1989. How are you holding up, Airman? What the fuck it looked like? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Why don't you head back to base, Aaron? Get some rest. Is he going to be able to get rest? You did good. Huh, uh. Oh. Whoa. So you're going to start moving.
Starting point is 00:34:42 She's trying to lead him to Hennie wife. To the pillar. Or to the pillar. We'll just head there. You're not coming. I was gonna go to Williams or Tony in March. You thought he'd be better if she heard it from us about Rich. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:04 That's it the thing was asleep. It wasn't that thing that lit the fire last night. This town is the monster. You're not going anywhere. And neither is Ronnie. Ronnie. Mm-hmm. She's wearing the iPad. She's wearing a fucking iPad. There it is. There it is.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Symbol of love. Is that Lily's home? She's not doing well either. Lily, sweetheart, you have guests. Why is her mom being nice all of a sudden? We needed to talk. Oh, that's who are they going to tell, Lily. We ended up heading to the black spot without you.
Starting point is 00:35:47 The fire. I heard about it on the news. Oh, my God. Is your dad? He's fine. Will is okay. Where's Rich? What? No. I know. Catch up, Lily.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Oh no. She's gonna try to throw it on the Main Street. I bet you is gonna make it. You okay? No, Ronnie. He never did get one all the way to Main Street, did he? Let's try now. I'm so happy they're showing the aftermath of his passing
Starting point is 00:36:51 and not just moving on. Of course, you've got to feel it. Yeah, but shows don't do, oftentimes don't do that. Great music. Yeah, ramping up the tension. Oh, is that the turtle show? Yeah. Pennywise's enemy.
Starting point is 00:37:21 That's where they buried it. This is how they make their weapons to defeat and defend. I kind of want to keep that around. Yeah, but they're going to let them loose that if they take it out. Exactly. Uh-oh. You can stand down, Major. Stand down.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Uh-huh. Colonel, we have orders to take the pillar three clicks north. Change the plan. Pillars going back to Brice further testing. The plan has always been to move inward toward the center of Derry. Right. What you're suggesting you, that's like leaving the cage door open. Yep.
Starting point is 00:38:05 The entity is asleep. Now we can analyze the pillar's physical properties. See, if Dick or the Eggheads can't use that data to find the other 12 billers even faster. You're an idiot. You're an idiot. We're in the home stretch. You're really not. The home stretch.
Starting point is 00:38:26 They found it. Yeah, you better go get it, buddy. Charlotte, you said if I ever needed a friend. Why don't you two come inside? I did not know she was going to go to Rose. Makes sense, though. What's the bad news? gotta get him across the border last i checked customs ain't all accommodating to dead people right
Starting point is 00:38:46 just the line on a map right we might have a problem we definitely have a problem bra rose is gonna need to talk to francis talk some sense and dim hold it right there yeah good for you ah god shut it down shut it down now oh thank god take it out what the hell do you think you're doing you said we were just studying the physical properties orders are orders major uh put the damn gun down yeah francis you lost your mind oh god a word please major i'm sorry i didn't tell you sooner major but object comes first he says that a lot you want to need to know basis this isn't even about Russia, is it?
Starting point is 00:39:38 Yeah, what the hell? The greatest threat to this nation is not from without Major. It's from within. Americans are at each other's throats, and it's only getting worse. Yeah. This country is slowly
Starting point is 00:39:49 fracturing into a thousand jagged, ill-fitting pieces. Oh my God. Release Pennywise on the crazies. I am only trying to prevent another civil war. Americans have stopped hearing one another. You can't control Pennywise.
Starting point is 00:40:02 And the one thing that makes people really listen is fear. Hmm. What you mean, oh, Yeah. I mean a nation of laws requires a system where people actually follow them. Anything else is anarchy. He sounds like his dad.
Starting point is 00:40:15 We're soldiers, Major. We accept collateral damage. You are fucking insane. Agreed. Exactly what the IG offices at DOD will say when I tell them about this shit. You'd be shutting the barn door after the horse is already out. Finish it. Oh, Jesus.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Huh. You're sitting the order. Do it! I think he's going to die. Oh, no. Oh, God. Okie-doke. But the actions you've taken today may very well save this country.
Starting point is 00:40:55 The actions he took? You did it, son. You're such a tool. Go back to your quarters. Oh, my God. You are such a twat tool. Make sure that man does not leave this base. Yes, sir, general.
Starting point is 00:41:09 Hmm. Just Jesus Christ. I mean, Jesus Christ. So I'm assuming that awoken him? Oh, wow, what a shot. That looks amazing. Wow. That's a way to end the episode, him opening his eyes.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Whoa. Oh, great ending of the episode. Oh, well, we're not ending. No, this is the episode that never ends, dude. Hey, Rob, Ron, it's okay. No, it's not. Nothing is okay. Can't get over the back.
Starting point is 00:41:54 He's gone. Is it actually Pennywise on the phone? I was thinking that to... Why haven't we cut to her? The way he must have suffocated, lungs bursting like popcorn. How would Ronnie know that? I can smell. stinky little broken boy body
Starting point is 00:42:10 can't you? I mean the call happened I was about to say his Pennywise calling You're not gonna scare me Becum, Willie boy You're in that! I can't hear you.
Starting point is 00:42:20 I'm dumb being scared. I can't... Whoa. Oh. Oh. Oh. All right. Just like Beverly in the first movie.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Well, floats too. Oh, Jesus. That episode was a lot. Wow. All right, all right, here we go All right, Citizens of Reject Nation, we just watched it,
Starting point is 00:42:43 Welcome to Dairy Season 1, Episode 7. Let me tell you what. One thing happened this episode. I know 50 things happened this episode, but this will forever be known as the episode that we lost Richie. Yeah. Period. I mean, like the fact that so many things went down,
Starting point is 00:43:03 but that is, I will think about this episode of TV until the day that I die and that moment because it was such I think you said titanic moment at the time that was all right let me throw it to you Andrew because I actually can't speak right now you're good no I mean what do you think first of all us thank you to the fun folks oh yeah sorry sorry yep yep okay yeah let me do my job first thank you to Prepper for helping edit this show is very difficult to edit and you guys are absolutely crushing it thank you to you guys for supporting if you want that extra good good go over to social media at real
Starting point is 00:43:36 rejects that's where you can follow us if you're on apple and spotify five star thumbs up i honestly think we deserve it after what we just went through um and we are here reading your comments in the youtube being your emotional support animals that we are okay thank you for reminding me that you good uh i think it speaks a lot too when someone like you who is a prolific tv watcher that it hits you like that yeah it really hit me too i mean it's one thing to sacrifice yourself which i think is such a noble thing to do, but for a child to do it. I think it really speaks volume of the testament to Rich's character. Like, we already were so in love with him.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Just his quick wits, just how harmonious he was, how much he brought the group together, and how positive and optimistic he was. And he always shined a light on everything. And to see that light, like, the way it dimmed out from such evil forces, but he wasn't, like, willing to ever let anything happen to the love of his life.
Starting point is 00:44:33 It's just like, it's so shattering and so tragic. He's like, I don't, I constantly always say this. I know where you can claim that we're guilty of recency bias. I don't care. He's one of my favorite TV characters.
Starting point is 00:44:48 And I can say that even just in one season of watching him versus like watching something for 10 seasons or five seasons, whatever. He's an amazing character. He's so flushed out, so three-dimensional. He just hits everything that I want to watch in a character.
Starting point is 00:45:01 And to see him go out. that way it's it's it's really i'm just i feel so awful for him and for us as an audience because we love him so much it's just such a such a noble act of bravery to do that for someone you love and i think roxy hit it best like it's really hard to find people like that to put yourself in the line of fire literally yeah for someone you care about so uh such an incredible uh character that they wrote for the show, and I'm so sorry that I don't know the actor's name offhand, but he did such an incredible job. At the end of the day, it's beautiful words that are written on the script, but the actor still got to perform, and he did such an incredible job. That scene, I can only
Starting point is 00:45:48 imagine how emotionally draining that scene must have been to do, and he freaking nailed it. And I totally agree also with Roxy that all these little kids are such superstars, and can't wait to see how their careers blossom, because they are all so fantastic. We talked already about this in the last episode. Like, they already destroyed us from the group that we already had. And I'm just so obsessed with this group, too, so to lose another one, at least one so far. Really just heartbreaking. So tragic.
Starting point is 00:46:18 When it comes to just the rest of the storylines, I freaking... What storylines? Just like Bowers. Yeah, right. So it's all about rich, of course. I'm going to have to re-watch the episode, no joke, because I actually was, I was, like, gone. I think the, and I'll let Tara have it from here after this.
Starting point is 00:46:37 I just think, I appreciate all the comments that let us know about Madeline Stowe's character, Mrs. Kirsch from Itch, from It Chapter 2. I actually did rewatch that scene before coming in here today, so that definitely was some good world building, even though I don't feel any more sympathy for giving away the location. I understand perspective. It doesn't justify what she did. So that was definitely some good lore
Starting point is 00:46:59 that they finally got a little bit of the backstory. We could go, we could spend some time there, of course, in season three if hopefully we get there in 1908. So I thought that was some really great stuff with Pennywise, the actual clown that he takes the form of. But I thought that was all really great. And so terrible what happened to him as well. But of course, all about Ritchie.
Starting point is 00:47:19 But go ahead, Tara. Yeah. So, I mean, in the other storyline, at the beginning of this episode, they really do put you in a perspective of, you know, Madeline Stowe in looking at Petty Wise, like, as her dad. It was quite a twist to me that at the towards the end that she's like, you're not
Starting point is 00:47:35 him. And I'm like, wait, what? Like, did you really? Okay. Yeah. I was like, whoa. That was. You dumb bitch. That was wild to me. You know what I mean? And she killed you know, so many people because of it, you know, especially
Starting point is 00:47:50 we've been talking about Rich a lot. You know, he was perfect. But not enough. We've not been talking about him enough. I know, I know, but in, specifically, you know, in the beginning, it did put you in the perspective of that he was this like, fun-loving dad is like a clown, even though he's still freaking weird, still has a weird voice, like he smokes, he drinks, and then like, okay, he goes in the woods, he gets taken. It's, it's cool to see that foundation of the story just to be set.
Starting point is 00:48:20 It's not anything that we've seen before. It gives him a little bit of like a human nature side to him, which is weird because he's still a beast. I think that what they did right in the ending of Rich's story, which is why I think it hurt so much, is because Rich is really the heart and the light of most all of the episodes. I mean, he's the one that's like, let's file his plane, let's get it to Main Street. At first, when we first are introduced to him,
Starting point is 00:48:53 he's by the lockers and he looks at Marge and he's like, he's like he doesn't even know what they're saying and I just thought every moment that they give him all of it it's just he's such a bright moment in all of the episodes and gives such a likeness to it so it's a really smart writer's move even though it's very damaging and really depressing to have him go out like that because he is that person
Starting point is 00:49:19 to me the writing is not oh he's so young I would never see a young kid doing that Because really, I would. For rich, I would. They set it up the right way so that every moment of that with Marjorie just like dying, he decides to tell her a story while full well knowing he's going to die to save Marjorie's life. And then they say, I love you at the end. It's just, it's adorable.
Starting point is 00:49:46 It's a great episode of television. It takes you up, takes you down real quick. That's all you can really ask for, I think in good TVs. manipulates your emotions. That's kind of what we're here for. The story of he, you know, comes from Cuba, it comes here. He doesn't know what she's saying
Starting point is 00:50:05 when she says you should take a picture. It should last longer. And when he realized he wished his response was, I wish I could. It's just like, it's pure, it's so pure. And it's young love.
Starting point is 00:50:19 And I honestly feel like they were meant to be together forever. Like I know that I'm such a sap and lover. love with shipperships but like he just loved her and he did and he just like what I think really touched me too is that obviously all the adults are panicking there's mass fire everywhere they're all trying to get out alive some of them are trying to protect the kids but a lot of them are trying to just breathe and protect themselves and in this moment richie who has been fed alcohol who has been like had so much smoke inhalation he
Starting point is 00:50:55 says Marge I need your help with something and he's like there's plenty of room having the wherewithal to be her protector still in that moment he saved her life and nobody else did and she would have died and there's no question about that for sure because Dick couldn't get to her and so just like the fact that she has to live knowing that I can't even I mean it was just so beautifully moving and yes it's the fact that he's a child
Starting point is 00:51:25 but it's who he is as a person in his soul that you never get to grow up to see where he ends up. I mean, that kid could have saved the world. So, yeah, it was such a touching moment. You guys are right. There were other things that happened in the episode. We don't know what's going to happen with Will at the end there. The Pennywise stuff in this episode was so well done.
Starting point is 00:51:45 When he takes Madeline's husband's head off, that looked effing amazing. And then eating it too. And then eating it. The effects, I don't know what you. y'all are talking about the effects are incredible the penny wise stuff the voice the backstory of why he chose the clown because the kids were attached to drawn to him all everything about this episode was absolute perfection the only reason i'm okay losing richie is because we couldn't have had him for more than one episode left anyway that actor because we're we're going back in time
Starting point is 00:52:16 so it's like otherwise i honestly like a lot of people wanted to quit the last of us i would honestly be thinking about quitting this show but you know we couldn't have stayed with with him anyway, this secured this show as like a top 10 show of this year for me. I had the way that that moved me. I can't even like, that fucked me up for the rest of my life. I will never forget that moment where he puts her in the box and then lays his body on top because she wants out.
Starting point is 00:52:45 And he was still comforting her in that moment, knowing his end was so near. And I think also what this episode did as hard as it was for us, the audience, showing us the ramification. for his friends and for Marge they didn't like just gloss over it yeah gloss over which a lot of movies
Starting point is 00:53:02 and TV shows will do with stuff like this not all but some will do that and it's like it gets a little annoying as a viewer it's like no we want as hard as it is we want to feel that for the people who are closest to when a tragedy like this strikes and they really hit that on the
Starting point is 00:53:17 they really you really felt that for the characters that were closest to them yeah exactly that's what I was mentioning during it is like how does this impact of people. That's what we want to see the impact. And oftentimes we don't. It's like because they've just got to keep it moving. This is why I prefer television to movies.
Starting point is 00:53:33 Because we are actually able to let things breathe and to live with these characters. And I don't know if in 90 minutes I would have been as detached to Richie, but we have spent seven weeks with him. You know, we've spent two months of our lives with this guy. Or I guess he was
Starting point is 00:53:49 in the first episode. Episode two. Right. We've spent a month and a half of our lives getting to know, every week all three of us being like that's our favorite character he's the best character totally if the world had more people like him and be a better place a better place yeah yeah like those parents did right by their kid i mean the eye patch uh if i heard where even after my eye was recovered the way i patch every day for the rest of my life yeah uh let me ask you guys this sure we have one episode left we just watched penny wise be in will's room
Starting point is 00:54:23 give him the lights with the lights what are you guys hoping to see what are you expecting i mean i'm expecting something a little bit similar like the first it film where beverly got taken with the dimming lights he wasn't a or she wasn't afraid of penny wise anymore kind of like will right there they're going to go down lily ronnie and um and marge they're going to go down there after the ladies the ladies they're going to go down they have the artifacts so that's something that's in their favor. And it's the only artifact that we have because we apparently just decided to
Starting point is 00:54:56 incinerate the other one because he wants to use it as a form of fear. So dumb. Which, yeah. Really stupid. But yeah. So I'm hoping we don't lose anyone else. I truly do not know.
Starting point is 00:55:11 I was being told in the comments that I was completely wrong that Ronnie is not supposed to be Mike Hanlon's mother. So we know that Will is going to be safe. doesn't matter because in the moment we're still going to feel that tension and scared for Will, of course. But, you know, after what we just witnessed with Rich, you know, the stakes are extremely high. We don't know who's besides Will.
Starting point is 00:55:32 We don't know who's going to make it out. So I'm really immersed with just the show as a whole and just enthralled. And also I'm really scared because I have no idea who's surviving. What are you expecting? What are you hoping, Tara? I'm really, I'm hoped for vengeance. Like, okay, Ronnie's dad is with. Rose. And now
Starting point is 00:55:53 Daniel's like, yo, we got a freaking problem. And I'm hoping that you know, the military gets overtaken by the people who've been there and are actually have been saving people somehow to throw them aside because they're a bunch of idiots
Starting point is 00:56:08 and have the people actually have a real win here. I don't know if that's possible. But I do really like that storyline that these, you know, original, Aboriginal, like they're there. from the top and now it's like they know what the F is going on and they have gotten zero credit for it and like you know we do see a few conversations where they're like we're just supposed to sit here and watch this shit happen and now that I think Daniel or whatever his name is has come in and said we've got a problem I think that they have enough of a team up especially with Ronnie's dad to I don't know do something good and make something good happen we'll see I'm just really I'm looking for vengeance in the in the in the last
Starting point is 00:56:50 last episode. I want to feel like somehow we've won, and I'm not quite sure how that's going to happen, but I want that feeling. I'm with you, and I think that the thing that will give me that feeling is watching Marge be the one to put
Starting point is 00:57:06 Pennywise down somehow. That'd be awesome. Because, yes, you're right, Lily has the artifact. And remember, Marge tried to grab it from Lily, and Lily wouldn't let her. I think it'd be unbelievable if Marge is the one. because think about the arc from her
Starting point is 00:57:22 from the beginning of the season where we, all three of us at some point we're like, Marge is the worst. Yeah. Now I'm obsessed with Marge. I love Marge. She's grown so much. And the thing that happens when somebody dies
Starting point is 00:57:35 is that it's tattooed on my shoulder, you become better or bitter. And for her, I think that she is going to take Richie's death and become better. And I think that she is going to be the strongest best version of herself because of him. He taught her to be a different kind
Starting point is 00:57:50 person and so if she can be the one ultimately to obviously we know you can't take pennywise out entirely but to put him to sleep or whatever it is to save the town to close up the circle whatever that would make me feel a little ounce of joy yeah carry his strength at least right yeah and to put him to put him to sleep for another 27 years until the it chapter or the first movie can take place i will also say the last thing i'll say is seeing dick uh holler in face to face with penny wise as one of the coolest moments too i've ever seen just television or movies it was so and to see him saying dicky like because we know where this character ends up in the shining and within doctor sleep like just to see these two iconic characters face to face interacting with each other like yeah i know it's in the stories or whatever
Starting point is 00:58:42 from i think what i've read but or was seen in the comments but it was so cool to see like face to face them interacting with each other is so iconic he's doing an amazing job that acted too oh he's great he's doing phenomenal when he when he says uh the sergeant's like how are you doing he's like the f you think i'm doing yeah yeah yeah you think i'm doing such a loaded question not well like he looks like and props to the hm u team because like you're making him look sweaty as hell i don't know whether you douse him in olive oil or what but whatever yeah it's working turn any final thoughts before we get out of here No, man, quite an episode. Very good.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Well, well written, I think, yeah, taking us up, taking us down. My whole thing for any episode of any television, even a movie, is like, make my, take my emotions and make them go somewhere. Yeah. This episode did that. Definitely. Appreciate you. I don't know that we're ready for next week, but we're going to have to do our darnness. And send kind words in the comments to help us get through this time.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Love you, Rich. RIP, Richie. And we'll see you next time. Later, Rejects. It started with a scream inside a quiet Maryland home. A mother trying to protect the family dog and her son in the grip of a violent hallucinogenic rage. By the time it was over, she was dead. And he claimed LSD made him do it.
Starting point is 01:00:16 His name, David Minor the Fourth, and we talk to him. Listen to Invisible Choir every other week as we uncover the most haunting true crimes you've never heard of. Available wherever you get your podcasts.
