Starting point is 00:01:14 What up, you disgusting individuals? How you doing? We're going to watch Percy Jackson in the Olympians, episode seven and eight. It's raining outside today. And lightning. We got a lightning warning on our fudge. It's just like Percy.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Yep. And with that, that means it's extra hot in this room today. That's how it operates. You know, it's like weird, right? Like, oh, my God, now I'm sweating. Yeah. And I've only been here for a minute. All right, Tara, how are you feeling?
Starting point is 00:01:38 You excited for this? I am. I want to see how they're actually going to, like, wrap this up. Because as we said, episode five, we like so much more. And I'm hoping that this seven and eight really comes with that kind of heat. Me too, man. Me too. All right, guys.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Well, I say we swing into it. Reject things. I like that shirt. Get her done. This shirt is dope. We got new beanies, a bunch of colors. Snag. Yeah, don't skip the plugs. Come on now. Watch the same plugs every time. Yeah. Like you go to Reject Nation shopping to scan this barcode. If you haven't heard
Starting point is 00:02:09 to say it before, you're hearing us say it now. Scan it. Support it's the channel. Another way to support the channel, Royal Rejects. They're like the number one reason we ended up doing Percy Jackson, the Olympians. Rare a case of being pressured because they pay. Thank you so much, Royals. full-length reaction watch on a re seeker with the own copies that way you could hear
Starting point is 00:02:27 Tara and I talk over your favorite moments of the show all right Tara let's do it let's go let's go I'm up to 75% off let's freaking go oh oh god oh god yeah I was like oh my god waterbed I've never sat on a water bed have you real oh yeah meabalita uh had one for a long long time Beds will change your life. Hello there. Missing our mummy? This must be a god.
Starting point is 00:03:00 That green bed is dope. I know he blends in him with the bed that he's by. He does look a little crust. He does look a little crust. So you guys are related. Krusty, please. Oh, I just said that. And you?
Starting point is 00:03:13 You've got dad's eyes. Take a load off. Relax for a minute. Oh, I like this actor. He's played death and supernatural. That's how you do it. How you murder your guests. I do.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I know there's a secret passage to the underworld here. I was sunken in, his eyes are. I know you were left here at Gartet, but I need you to let me know. Maybe it's in the water bed. Go in the water bed. It must be the passage. These beds are great for your self-confident. I'm really not interested. They show you how to fit.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Our parents make it so hard. Stretching us and twisting us and hacking off pieces to make us seem more like them. Ugh. These beds. call that away oh i don't even know if you can find a waterbed nowadays try it i think you'll feel much better come on man you first oh oh oh oh you're okay yeah i didn't even question that he was alone you won't be the first to try bringing someone back from the underworld you won't be the first to fail hey
Starting point is 00:04:21 Shuck top. You're lucky we're letting you keep your head, dummy. Don't push it. Is it over? Is it over, Grover? Mm-hmm. Do not. I'm sure this is the right way.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Oh, I like that procrastist guy. He's wrapped up in a blanket forever now. He did. He's a good actor. It's either the realm of the dead or someone left a carton of milk in there in the 1990s. Terror was 30 then. Better? Squeaky, squeaky, squeaky.
Starting point is 00:04:50 If we get in. trouble these are our tickets out yeah but you need no one's turning back to we all come back yeah okay all right no one comes back shut up dude don't make me come back out there this is such a green episode i just think it's safer if i'm not holding them off let's go get your mom defeat asian hadies mood. Yeah. And this director seems to have like a good sense of tension. Yeah, even this shot right here is like, ooh. I've never directed this one seems to be like really knowing what they're doing. I remember I show you that movie? I meant we are only an hour from the city and it feels like we're on a different planet. Dr. Higgins says this is the best school, the best program in the state
Starting point is 00:05:40 for kids with learning differences. I'm not going. Oh, this is not good. I will you a person Open the door Fine I got delivery from that little kid yelling that was like the first Yeah time we've seen a kid get like
Starting point is 00:06:11 legit Whoa Wild this kind of reminds you Stranger Things that view right up there Wow, it's great I even like the kind of classical sets with the rocks We could feel they're very fake rocks But it's kind of charming
Starting point is 00:06:29 Like a set rock Is that who I think it is? Karen, the boatman Taking new arrivals across the river sticks That's what I was thinking to Which means that over there is the main gate Let's go maybe we can get there first I need a bunch of anthology
Starting point is 00:06:42 I need to read a comic book We say that every time and we have not I will read the Iliad The Odyssey Come on The graphic novels Like Percy Excuse me
Starting point is 00:06:53 Excuse me This is why I always take an aisle seat Anywhere I go You take me to the movies A concert I'll seat only So I don't have to do this You should really spend some time
Starting point is 00:07:03 In the city with me I think you learn a lot They're all Like zombies You're not dead I mean We're all dying To some extent
Starting point is 00:07:12 And you didn't pay the cross Wait we can pay We can pay You don't take them all Silent whistle. You can buy a new whistle. I think the whistle worked just fine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Wow. Oh, cool. That looks awesome. Damn. Holy tough.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Damn. They don't grab Grover. Oh. Well, are they just going to carry us to the destiny? to the destination or are they trying to kill us yeah maybe they're not bad like that guy just took all of your money dude oh see i think they're nice where's grover that's great yeah oh there okay oh oh okay is she petting it and now it's fine oh okay good boys oh cute puppy dogs damn that looks really good good
Starting point is 00:08:17 Everything we've been getting in these last 10 minutes is every day I've been wanting to show her to do more yeah yeah I'm with you on that oh there he is eh even his legs are the way they're supposed to be you are a bad bad dog I can't hold this forever you're holding it what do you mean by hold this forever can you fly us up there with your shoes oh cool I forgot about his shoes Cool shoes. You can do this. One at a time.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Take Percy first. You can do it. My. Grubber must have super strength. Oh. Uh-oh. Innaveth! Launch, Annabeth.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Oh, man. Oh, yeah. Throw the ball. And then the dog will go one way, and then she... Ah! Oh, God. That was fun. It's just so casual.
Starting point is 00:09:25 I'm not sure how that. Guys. Excuse me. Oh, no, she threw it. So it would go fetch for it and she left off of it. Yeah, yeah, okay. They can swim. I don't know about those waters, though.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Oh, maybe. Well, they're too smart to jump in. They're just going to chase. the ball down the river that was really i mean how did you my father had a dog when i was little i guess i remember the tricks oh wow it's weird that grover went how did you and i'm like well it's a ball with a dog but it's fine oh my god it's upside down that's cool we're in hell now baby that's what he'll be keeping the master boat and your mom my pearl i lost the pearl see i knew that was going to happen i I think it's in the dog.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Damn, you, Krover. What are we gonna do? I don't know. But if we don't move, it is not gonna matter. Come on. Okay. He is registered. I have the email.
Starting point is 00:10:26 But some new information came to light that is forced us to reconsider your application. Drawing that caused his previous school counselor to reach out to me personally to express his concern. Wonder what the green pallet is for? Of a horse with wings. Our problem is that he was found walking across the roof of the gymnasium. After which he said he saw something out there. he has no place else to go have you considered homeschool home school it sounds overwhelming but there are resources to help it's a real option i feel like we should have got in this stuff like
Starting point is 00:10:56 way earlier in the show this is really good stuff i'm sorry really drives home that whole thing with him like having a learning disability or potentially being neurodivergent totally or just socially awkward and feeling an outcast especially hearing his mom saying he has no other place to go Like, that's tough. We can't ignore this. Stop. It's just math. The three of us plus your mom is four people and only three pearls.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Someone is staying behind. Percy's planning on it. It wasn't your fault. And even if it were, you're not getting left behind. Period. After we get the bolt and stop this war, you guys are leaving. That's Percy. He's selfless.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Wait, wait, wait, Percy. What about you? Quest aren't linear. I'll figure something out. Oh! Spooky dokey. That looks freaky. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:44 They can't hear you. they oh they're everywhere this must be as for though i read a book about this place creepy wait no no no no no what are you such a sadness here yeah are those roots are they like the tree girl back home souls here are abound by regret aren't it by choices they made in life Interesting. We're never made. I just live with all my regrets. Keep on marching on.
Starting point is 00:12:18 It started with a scream inside a quiet Maryland home, a mother trying to protect the family dog and her son in the grip of a violent hallucinogenic rage. By the time it was over, she was dead, and he claimed LSD made him do it. His name, David Minor the 4th, and we talked to him. Listen to Invisible Choir every other week as we uncover the most haunting true crimes
Starting point is 00:12:42 you've never heard of. Available wherever you get your podcasts. Oh, the puppies found their way over that wall. Yeah, and also if it's a dog, great. Let's get a laxative. Get that stone back. Annabest.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Guys. Annabat. We've got a problem here. Is she rooted? I already tried. It's too strong. You got to get over your regrets. I'd be like, all right, give me your pearl.
Starting point is 00:13:22 But what would you have to regret? What do you regret? I'll distract the dog and buy you guys some time. Percy. The shame with your mom. This will work. I trust your dad. You can do this.
Starting point is 00:13:33 I don't. We've never met him. Run. Now. Go, Perkins. See, we need you to go to a more brightly lit scene. Whoa, what just happened? Oh, did she use it? She probably used
Starting point is 00:13:48 the pearl. Oh, okay. I think that was the that's how she got out of regret. She just avoided her regrets again. Yep. Look at that brightness. So they must have saved the most of their budget for this episode. Yeah, because it looks really good. It's actually making me claustrophobic, like imagining if I was, oh, like this. Glosterphobic, really.
Starting point is 00:14:11 It's like the sky looks like right there on you. I feel like, oh, I need the sky to open up to feel like air. It's weird. Glover, where are you going? Oh, God, he said, what's what, what is what? Ah, well done, wire effects. Wow. That's really well.
Starting point is 00:14:27 That's cool. Oh, you better, go, go hang on to him. Oh, wait, are we supposed to go in that hole? Oh, no. All right. got to lose the shoes then kid oh or given the pearl or okay oh nice good job purse oh yeah buy shoes okay that's fine that sucks they came in really really handy but lightning bolt is this no i mean it looks like it absolutely is not okay i don't have you seen this weapon
Starting point is 00:15:17 before no so what is it then yeah why why was in your bag and we don't know yeah that's the master right how's it in your bag oh wait this isn't my bag eries gave oh aries had the master role the entire time he had it the whole time he's so to deliver it to haides i mean that was it Right? That's the quest. Well, also his mom, though. Zeus is expecting us to return this. Damn, they went a long time without checking your bag. Yeah, I know, right?
Starting point is 00:15:50 Oh, like, what in the world? Let's go get your mom. Also, pull your sword out of the sand. It's fine. He got it. I know this is hard, but the school's going to be really good for you. I know that, too. Oh, you have to give this speech.
Starting point is 00:16:04 I want you to give this place a chance. I got to take you back to school soon. to drop you off. Let's not spend the last few minutes we have here like this. Why are you doing this? Trying to help you. Why are you trying so hard to get rid of me? I would never do this to you. Oh, I'm gonna go pay.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Oh, you just can't answer the question. Hmm. That's cool. That's what I want my front door to look like. You don't have a front door. front door. You have a sidewalk and a corner.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Oh, that's awesome. That was nice. When I was done. Whoever directed this episode is just doing a stellar job. They're doing a great job. This is like a really well-directed episode. I agree.
Starting point is 00:17:00 Ooh. The music really feels truly composed to every scene. This most cinematic feeling one they've done yeah i actually i agree with that is this our stop or and these these do have a little more color in them like i think before you're saying there's like a tone to it but this one seems oh well it doesn't look like every disney question right exactly like it's that like the fog the coloring there's stuff about it about all the anyways it's
Starting point is 00:17:28 great to meet you i know who you are and you know who i am so we can just skip right past that part wait i love him can i get you anything with a fresh Pomegranate juice a snack actually mother boom straight to business get right to it I admire the cut of your jib little nautical reference for you I see you where is she okay don't let's get to it your mom's just over here okay you've come all this way don't be shy oh oh that's it oh oh oh that's like the gold dead but we can't reverse it like we did what did you do to work uh saved her life you know typically getting crushed by a Minotaur is a terminal diagnosis.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Percy. She almost got killed by the Minotaur. Snagged her for you, just in the ta-da, nick of time. So that you would come see me. I thought the Asian guy was 80s. You give me what you got? I give me what I got. Okay. What's the bolt? Oh yeah, duh. Forgot it was in his bag already.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Can't give it to you. I see there's a quid and a quo here. The bolt doesn't belong to you. The plan almost worked. You and Aries managed to steal the bolt. Trick me into bringing it right down and giving it to you. But it's wrong and I won't do it. He's got a moral code. So all I can do is ask you to do the right thing too.
Starting point is 00:18:40 I hate he to do the right thing. Let my mom go. Huh? Who tricked Aries into doing what? You're in cahoots with Aries to secure the bolt. I'm not in cahoots with Aries. I seldom cahoots. The bolt is my brother's drama. I don't want it.
Starting point is 00:18:55 Oh. You don't want it? No. What do you want to? Then what do you want? My helm of darkness, it went missing just days before someone used it to turn invisible and steal the bolt. Oh, the hat. I'd like it back now, please. and then you get your mom back.
Starting point is 00:19:07 You really don't want the bolt. Why would I want that? Start a war between your brothers. Why would I want that? Jealousy. I don't know if you notice, but it's all candy canes and rainbows down here. I'm managing just fine.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Ooh. Brothers, on the other hand, have the market cornered on jealous. Family drama is why I don't go up there anymore. Anabeth, is that what Anabast regret was? It wasn't me. I think. Cronos.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Oh, no. Oh, the brother of Ares. Excuse me. He's got the longest grudge of them all. Zeus took Kronos' throne, who else is a bigger reason to weaken Zeus and take his throne back? Kronos is in a million pieces at the bottom of Taurus, where something just tried to pull us into it, the moment the bolt appeared in our bag. Where I've been hearing a voice from in my dreams. Hard to guess when you've never met any of these people.
Starting point is 00:19:52 I know, right? Telling me it needs my help to take down Olympus. But that voice I heard, that definitely did not sound like you. Ask me for sanctuary. Oh, never mind. If Kronos is somehow planning to emerge from his exile and you are here. his first call. You're not safe. Ask me and I'll protect you. You and your mother. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:10 And the goat. I'll throw them in on the house. This works out nicely for you, as it turns out. All it'll cost you is the bolt. I thought you didn't want the bolt. I don't want the bolt. Now I need the bolt. If war with Kronos is coming, I'd like to be prepared. Not messing around here, kid. Ah, now we, we bungled it. The only question is how difficult you make it. Ugh. You're gonna have to leave Mom behind.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Oh, give me the bag. And do the right day. Nice pearl? I accept your offer. Oh, great. Your first offer. We're going to go get your helm. And when I get back, you're going to let my mom go.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Okay, hang on, kid. Grover, now. Oh, shit. Hold fast, Mom. Oh, damn. Well, now they have to, we're going to have to go back there, and we're going to need more pearls. Is that Sunday always there? No, I thought it was on the table with the kid.
Starting point is 00:21:04 I don't know, maybe. There's no way. How do you light the Sunday on fire? Is he summoned Poseidon? Oh, is now the rain? The rain came. This isn't fair. No. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Is that Poseidon? And I am sailing. No, you're not. I'm going to take him to camp. Are you sure? Starting to attract attention. attract attention from your world. Uh.
Starting point is 00:21:36 A winged horse followed him to school. It saw him. He saw it. Sooner or later, it's not just going to be pretty things that are following him. Yeah. At camp he will be safe. You don't want him again?
Starting point is 00:21:48 No, no. Tell me why. You don't want to hear why. Probably not. But you have no one to say it, too. Oh. And maybe that's the most unfair part of it. You say it, and I will listen.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Hmm. I want him to know who. who he is before your family tries to tell him who they want him to be. Form your own identity. He has better things in him than that. He's going to go to school and he's going to learn things that you can't teach him there. And it's going to be hard for the both of you. But he will be stronger for it on the other side.
Starting point is 00:22:23 His mother raised him well. Do you want to talk to him? I know you shouldn't. He avoided. One day. one day when he's ready when he knows who he is and where he belongs looks like we're on the beach oh cool and fate has revealed to him his true path oh shit oh on that day i'll be right by his side
Starting point is 00:22:54 i love that that was the best episode yeah it really was Got to buy a lot. Yeah. It was great. Yeah, that was the first. Freaking next. Really enjoyed that one. That one was a really good one.
Starting point is 00:23:08 This episode is brought to you by prize picks. The app that finally let me crash my wife's fantasy sports click. Yes, I used to overhear her and her friends bonding while I sat in the corner where my arms folded. Come to my home and I can't be included. Trying to pretend like, yeah, I know what yards after catch means. It's fell left out, man. And then I discovered Bryce Picks. So here's the deal.
Starting point is 00:23:30 It's daily fantasy sports, not gambling. No playing against sharks or betting against the house. It's just you versus your own sports brain. You pick more or less on two or more player stats. Like, will Luca Donchich score more than 30 points tonight? Will Christian McCaffrey rush for less than 85 yards? Sports things. And if you're right, you win.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Another thing, too, it's fast. You can make a lineup in under a minute, playing 30 plus states. And you're not stuck to just NFRA. or NBA. You've got MLB, NHL, college football, even e-sports. Basically, if it has stats, you can play. And basically, I now can hang out with my wife and her friends. 10 years in the making. And when I get one right, it does feel good. So, fellow reject, what you can do today is you can download the Price Pix app, use code Rejects to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That's code Rejects to get $50 in lineups after your first $5 lineup.
Starting point is 00:24:27 It's good to be right. You didn't ask to be a half blood, but you are one. That makes you part of something bigger than yourself. A wider lenses. Which is good. Oh. You clearly can't handle this on your own. Thanks for demonstrating.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Yeah. Let's work on that diss on. Barely in it. I appreciate you taking the time. But you're weak and want to quit? What am I ever going to use this stuff? Told you. Oh.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Hi guard. Three posts. You can tell that they spread up the frame rate because you can hear it in his voice. Because they're using the... Yeah, his mic. Oh, and I say, don't fight fair. It's not there are rules. See, that's what warfare is.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Knowing the rules, so you can use them against your opponent. It was an example. There's all kinds of examples. Your question. Like... Like, uh... Single combat. What?
Starting point is 00:25:27 What? One-on-one. But I set the terms. If I draw first blood, I keep the bolt, and you surrender the helm. Okay. Do you accept? I mean, it's your funeral, kid. Although, just to be clear, no funeral.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Any trace of you leaves the trace of my plan, and we can't have that. It wasn't your plan, though, was it? It was his idea to frame Poseidon's kid. And steal Hades Helm and Zeus's bolt to start a war. What? Is that where he got to you, too? Ari's wants a war. For your dreams?
Starting point is 00:25:55 God. A lot of people have asked the question of what in the last. 10 minutes. How to start a fight. After you die, say hi to your mommy for me. Thanks. I would have possible to stand a chance. I think he will, though.
Starting point is 00:26:14 The god of war. Yeah, but remember his dad said I'll be there right beside him, so their water's going to pop up or something. We're by a puddle. Could be a life-saving puddle. He's really toying with his food right now. Maybe you shouldn't have pushed him into the water. Like I said, why?
Starting point is 00:26:42 But he's not dad. Dad or is it just Percy? It's got to be Dad, Dad and Percy. Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, tell him. He'll find out who I really am. Love it. And he had to know who he was first.
Starting point is 00:27:05 That's cool. That was really great effects. That's freaking great. I drew first blood. He drew first blood. Godblood. I was going to be like, I hope the other.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Other kids can swim, but they're fine. You're dry. You didn't reach them, I guess. And you thought you were just a kid. Yay! That was so cool. That was really cool. Want to know what you really won today. That's what we just said.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Congrats. Except we weren't sarcastic. Right. We need it. Drive the spite. Oh, God. No, I want to see it. I wanted to see that.
Starting point is 00:27:54 That was, okay. That's all right. It's Hayd's home. Is he tiny? Oh. Now you just gotta get back to Hayden's. Yep. And get Mom!
Starting point is 00:28:06 Hey, that's his home. That's where he was when they had to leave on the first episode. Oh, it's the same beach? Cool, endos. Mom. Terra has an S team. That's without having Slub with anyone. with anyone using earthquakes to clear the skies lord poseidon grows bold in his war
Starting point is 00:28:31 against oh yeah her she's back finally had you sent you to retrieve it's been your quest all along that's a great looking helmet damn yeah what are you doing living up to my end of the bargain tell hayes i expect him to do the same give me her what she wants please good luck on olympus okay girl perhaps there will still be a world left for your mother to What does it mean good luck on? I'd tell them. Dude. No.
Starting point is 00:29:00 I have to. What for? The quest failed. We missed the dead list. Before we set off, Kyron told me the last war on Olympus, kicked off World War II down here. Season two. We have to get Zeus to call it off.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Returning the Bolt is the only way I can get his attention. Did you see how frightened Aides was about the idea of Kron was coming back? Uh-huh. Bringing him the bolts might be enough to get him to listen. You two got to go to camp. Now that we know who Aries and Clarice were working for, someone has to warn Cairo. Someone has to warn Cairo. He'll kill you.
Starting point is 00:29:26 You understand that, right? Either because he thinks you stole the bolt or because you're a forbidden kid. A Poseidon will be there. Zeus will never let you leave Olympus alive. I'm done running from monsters. This is too important. Okay. I have to try.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I love this for him. He's a trier. Just for clarity. How sure are we, you can just explain everything in an email? Where's the glory in that? Ha ha. Ha ha. Do they get emails?
Starting point is 00:29:52 Yeah, I was like, that really. took me out of it because I was like wait there's emails here even though like tour starts by the sign I'm here for the tour I'm here to see Zeus I don't it's a joke there's got be more ways than communication in person I don't have an appointment I feel like this actor's like actually physically grown during this yeah during this season yeah I think the actor actually yeah I agree I mean at this age you would be going through your like sprout up phase he looks older yeah wow it's beautiful yeah i think they saved their best ship for the last for the last my god this looks fucking great damn gods are all powerful but they have to play by the rules yes and actually
Starting point is 00:30:38 feeling like a world i can take serious and they create demigods so we can break the rules for them yes but if we can break rules and they can't shouldn't they be just as afraid of us as we are of them there's been like true atmosphere this time you're learning fast annabeth is terrified of spiders but she's a lot bigger than they are so what do you think happens when she comes across one two things you never want to be are small and scary at the same time things that are small and scary get squished okay uh so he's small right now but he can't be scary damn that is massive yeah shit they really realize this this is crazy wild pair of the show we've had for the first six episodes way better
Starting point is 00:31:21 it's like fucking gnarly yeah yeah production design is just like skyrocketed in two episodes totally oh man it's a lonely council crazy visual it's scary yeah it's literally up in the clouds you could feel the how high up we are using the great use of like the wind and having a Well, one hand, a lot of the framers is. Yeah. Oh! That Lance? Yes, it is!
Starting point is 00:31:50 He's in this show? I usually see him with glasses, so... I didn't steal it. Neither did any of my friends. We found it, we got it back. We tried to get it too on time, but... You failed. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:32:05 But I had to come. I had to tell you who did steal it. It was Kronos. He knows already, huh? He's behind all of it. He's emerging from Tartarus. What? Trying to. He's gathering strength and he's coming for all of you.
Starting point is 00:32:16 You may go. I know where Kronos is. I put him there. Of course he's gathering strength. Of course he's coming. That is what we do. We snap and plot and strive. It was only a matter of time before he did again. Thousands of years, all they do. Thank you for the news. It is the only reason I'm letting you leave alive.
Starting point is 00:32:34 There you go. I have a war to prosecute now. So when I say you may go, it means be grateful and it means. He could change his mind. But the war can't continue. Boy! You escape in your life, that is your prize. What did you think that you and I would negotiate?
Starting point is 00:32:52 I thought you might listen. Kronos wants you both weakened. I will not be weakened by my brothers. You already are. Your family is a mess. They don't support you because they love you. They obey because they're afraid. Aries, your son.
Starting point is 00:33:06 They run their power. He turned on you the moment someone stronger showed up. Do you really think he'll be the last? a bit of generational trauma here looking to put you back in your place oh oh Poseidon it's got to be right yeah I surrender no war I surrender they will do actually good casting you're similar looking in color church too who should have never been born the same as your father who's
Starting point is 00:33:40 bravery still inspires old demigods you make a fair point pussius is one of those heroes and i've shown a measure of that bravery today to sell a sweater you well that was about fles and is hermils de bourne or panthers pretty much everyone I'll have Athena set a meeting. The whole council will declare my swift and crushing victory.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Okay. Then discuss family business. Hmm. Make sure I never see this one again. Obedience doesn't come naturally to you, does it? No, sure. Sir. I must take some of the blame, I suppose.
Starting point is 00:34:18 The seed does not like to be restrained. Patros, that's the only word I really got. It means father, right? Caron has told you well. I learned it from Cairo. Mama. I learned it from you? Like, does he remember some old-ass memory or something?
Starting point is 00:34:31 Your mother taught you ancient Greek. She taught me a lot of things. Okay. Can I ask you a question? I don't know when Hades will return her. Why'd you leave? He can be difficult when he wants to make a point. Do you dream?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Aries said God's don't dream. Oh, because of the dreams that he's been having. Ares is a moron. Perhaps you noticed. Of course we dream. Why do you ask? Do you ever dream about Mom? No.
Starting point is 00:34:56 pearl you should be going go get mom never mind i thought he was gonna give it to brother do you see her yet she is here Hmm. Clarice stole the master world. It's complicated. How is it complicated? Everyone was ready to join the war here.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Start fighting each other. Okay. An accusation against Clarice. Without proof. Exactly. Without proof, it would have lit this whole place on fire. Yeah. Now you're back.
Starting point is 00:35:36 You stopped the war. You saved the world. Now it's safe to tell Chiron and finish cleaning up the mess. Okay. I told him we needed to meet him away from the celebration. So we can talk without any of Clarice's supporters noticing. I'll keep it on, Cluice while you're gone. Make sure she isn't going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:35:48 And we'll meet back here. I have no real sense of what's going. going on at this camp and the territorial things that are happening. Ready? Like what factions are formed? Well, I'm sure it gets clicky, right? She's kind of a bully anyway.
Starting point is 00:36:03 Talk about a celebration. They really pulled out all the stops for you. This dude's got a good voice. He's got a good, strong jaw. I mean, yeah, she's being held captive in hell in the worst kind of condition. But prophecies? Those things are so vague.
Starting point is 00:36:20 And everything the oracle said has either come true or makes sense. Has it? You shall go west and face the God it was turned. Is he the traitor? Okay. Because they said early on the head and he'd have a traitor. And no one's betrayed. And you shall be betrayed.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Yeah, that one. Ah. Oh no. There's somebody back there, I think. Well, the reason Clarice is still here is because you never said anything to Carron about her. Did you? You couldn't. Because you knew that.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Because he did. You did. You worked with Ares to find it on me. The shoes you gave me pulled me down into Tartarus. Oh. He still trained him though. I didn't think you give him the Grover to wear. I am your friend.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Percy. None of this was meant to betray you. The cods are my enemy. You, I'm here to recruit. Oh. Recruiting. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Easy. I don't want to fight. This is what I wanted to show you. I wanted to show you. So you're just gonna unlock? This is our way out. Way out of what? Is he gonna tap something?
Starting point is 00:37:24 We go down below and see in some weird world. Oh. Okay. It's the veil. Backbiter can open secret doors. We can stay on the run as long as it takes. Stop saying we. Oh.
Starting point is 00:37:39 It's the word Zeus fears the most. God's want us to fight for them, worship them, fear them. And they couldn't care less what we want. They're bad parents, Percy. Yeah, way worse than it. And they've gotten away with it for far too. This isn't you. This is Kronos. He got to you. No, he opened my eyes to the truth.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Hmm. The Golden Age. That's what they called it when he ruled. We're gonna help Kronos bring the Golden Age back. Luke's not wrong. Stealing the bolt and the helm was easy for what comes next. We're gonna need all the help we can get. Season two.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Our parents aren't perfect, but they're trying their best. I met your dad. Uh, uh. All right, here we go. You did get better. Oh, that's the H. Herbys. Oh, but, duh, duh, da.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Oh. I'm sorry. Good job, purse. I didn't mean this. Oh, God. Oh, no. No, no, don't know, who's this? Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Grab your sword, buddy. Come on. Annabeth, Target. Oh, nice, what was that? Tanbitt. Okay, yeah. Anabeth. I heard everything.
Starting point is 00:39:03 And you waited that long to engage in the fight? Yeah. Oh. Okay. I came in handy. Like how this is all being draped against a celebration. Yeah. God, I really wish the last
Starting point is 00:39:21 the whole show was like these last two episodes. Yeah, me too. The pacing is so much better, too. Everything about it, honestly. Yeah. Saying goodbye. I may not be gone long. Truly feels like the world now.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Instead of like people telling me it's a world. And you're certain that you won't accept an armed escort. I told you I don't think Luke wants to kill me. I don't think he does either. Oh, definitely not. That's what scares me. When Luke explained why he planned to take down a lot. Part of it made sense to you, didn't it?
Starting point is 00:39:51 Yeah, they tense to me. I was here going like he's all wrong. Who knows that you're a powerful ally to his cause and his master? He can be very, very persuasive. You don't say. But I'm very, very stubborn. You have to be very careful. You're more than a hero now.
Starting point is 00:40:05 You are a leader in the eyes of your fellow haplots. Mm-hmm. You have made me very proud. You're still here. I was just leaving. Thank you. No, thank you, Percy. And that was Percy's goal all along.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Percy? That's your name? Yes. Are you sure? Because I'm 90% sure it's people. Percy. Percy Jackson. I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I know my own name.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Eh, you know what? I don't actually care. How does she feel about all of this? You going home to see her dad? It's a tree, seaweed brain. It doesn't express opinions. Yeah, but you can feel its feeling. But I imagine she's thrilled. And how do you feel about it?
Starting point is 00:40:38 Well, he wants to show me New York City first. So I'm gonna pretend I haven't been there. Her hair looks cool. And then someplace called Disney Row, which kind of sounds like Waterland, but less determined to kill you. Synergy. Wait, did I read that wrong? What am I walking into? Is there something you're supposed to do there?
Starting point is 00:40:52 Just be a kid. Have fun. Oh, okay. You got it? Where is it? Oh, is that your searcher's license? Yeah. Officially authorized to begin the quest for Pan.
Starting point is 00:41:01 There you go. The council's theory is that Pan is always on the move and it's all about timing. No one's ever bothered to check the seas. I know some people are management out there if you ever need some help. I'll find you. You know, like one person in the scene. No matter what happens. We meet back here next year.
Starting point is 00:41:14 All of us. Isn't that the plan anyway? Oh, okay. About the friends we made along the way. It's really pretty. Percy. Thank goodness. Oh, what happened?
Starting point is 00:41:32 It's a long story. Let it go on. It's time to wake up. Oh, God. Oh, no. Oh, no. Damn it. That sucks. Yeah, because I was like, well, it sucks we didn't get to see.
Starting point is 00:41:48 model i won you lost get out of my dreams already soon enough we'll meet in your world if you can survive what's next come find me that is my hope your survival oh is the key to my return oh no kidding kiddo time to wake up oh my god so she is back breakfast to wait seventh grade awaits let's get this party started we're in the city probably would have helped if i slept a little bit do you have another nightmare grandpa don't call him that all right what did he say this time he said there's no denying of the truth don't forget to tell your mom how much you that's very sweetly a person but he didn't say that i mean he could have
Starting point is 00:42:45 The stories you heard about Greek gods, heroes, and monsters. I think they're like super sweet. I'm here to tell you they're real. If you ever feel like you don't fit, like the world doesn't make sense. Awesome. And you might be a part of our world. So don't give up because we might need. When you're flying Emirates business class,
Starting point is 00:43:09 sampling our range of vintage wines, from the largest selection in the skies, You'll see that your vacation isn't really over until your flight is over. Fly Emirates. Fly better. You for the flight ahead. Okay. Hurrah.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Yeah. That's why I was like, aw. Oh, a different person. Jet Wilkes says, okay. Go ahead in check. Oh. There's a post-creds. There is.
Starting point is 00:43:38 All right. It wasn't my idea. I was yours. Oh, God. change the locks do you know how to pick a lock hello god good luck jerk wad oh no he's gonna get to choose turn to sender oh this is not good oh it's the head oh god's oh that is gross oh oh karma i forgot about medusa's head I was someone finds him. Completely forgot.
Starting point is 00:44:16 All right, ladies and gentlemen, well, we just watched Percy Jackson season one finale. And Prepper, thanks for any of these down. It's been a journey for Tara and I, been a mixed bag. And we can both confidently say those two were the best episodes of this season. I wish the rest of the show felt just played a little bit more to our sensibilities, I suppose, because from the comments on our Patreon, at least a lot of people soon to see. say that the fifth episode is the one that we're yeah they said that last time and i'm like wait what about six though dude like the the pacing and the vibe of that was really great but we watched
Starting point is 00:44:57 six and seven here seven and eight seven and eight i meant seven yeah i meant seven yes so good i say seven is my favorite one of them all yeah me too like the it just felt really good and the time kind of flew by yeah the world actually feels like everything they've been saying this world is except you know with production and like realized because there's actually like sets and a vibe yeah per setting you know like you contrast it with the Hades underworld stuff which feels very ominous and pensive and then you go up to Olympus which feels vast and scary like you got the one that's like the terrifying underworld and you got the one that's scary to be that high up in the clouds and the way the interactions were with the different personalities felt very rich right from like the opening of whoever that waterbed guy was oh he was great yeah yeah like from that into the interaction with hades and then zeus played by lance reddick was a really great moment the whole thing with freaking mom talking with the sidon to was a really beautiful moment like those flashbacks of
Starting point is 00:46:19 i really like the way it pairs with having him grow up feeling like he's being like pushed away this whole time and now this ends off on a note where they're going to be working together with the truth now out there yeah there's something really beautiful about it and a lot of it seems to be about overcoming generational trauma which i like the deep i like the deep i like like the depth of that yeah looking at the two sides of what you know Percy and that Luke guy are they're both the pain like the pain of just being neglected by your family and then being used and stepping in whenever they just want something from you in a way and or you're essentially being pawns and but you're also abandoned and you see like Zeus is going to war with
Starting point is 00:47:08 his father you know like everything is just a trickle down effect and this is how this family lineage works. Yeah. And it's like trying to change cycles. Yeah. That's so hard. Yeah. It's actually like the depth of it really started a hit and the nuance backed with an actually visually realized sense instead of just cutting the actors who are saying what's going on. But you just kind of feel like people are in a play. Like that's what I felt like before. I felt like we were like watching a play. Yeah. And this time I felt like I was watching like an actual show. So, yeah, I really liked it a lot. Yeah, I mean, it was good stuff.
Starting point is 00:47:48 I specifically really liked. I loved the three-headed dog. I thought that was very, very cool. I like that the effects actually did make me feel claustrophobic with the world that looks like it's like upside down and we're walking on it. It's the way that they set it up made it feel inescapable. And then when he arrives to what I, which kind of looks like the Wizard of Oz in my brain. I mean, it's the scope of it was just.
Starting point is 00:48:14 just so huge that I guess that's why we kept making jokes of like, oh, this is where they save the money for these last two episodes. But truly, you just, you don't realize how much a really good track of music mixed with a really good environment with a good director who knows how to go, hey, we need to retake that line so it fits the whole thing can make or break a show. And I think that the, and it could be, the, director on episode seven because I specifically made a comment about between the mom and the kid in the car when they're having a conversation that kid had never acted like that before
Starting point is 00:48:55 that to me is guaranteed that the director is feeding you a little something giving you some emotional context to get you there and I also felt the same way about the kids as well in seven which I really really enjoyed I thought it was like grounded and their delivery which we did complain about before their delivery seemed very neutral not very emotional sort of just like hey watch out for that god over there like whatever and in that episode seven it seemed like it was filled with a little more fuel which i really really liked and i think that's what to me made the pacing go by a lot faster um and then eight pretty much a bit the same but seven i think did a better job of it um so yeah i i had i had fun i get why people are like oh they liked the show it's just
Starting point is 00:49:48 if the first two episodes were like seven and eight i think this show could have blown up i i wouldn't have like been like oh man if i was just at home i probably would have not watched it but i'm glad that i did because if you carry on then you're like ah we're getting somewhere here yeah as long as if the world that they really get you to live in in seven and eight if you felt that world was truly there even if we weren't there directly right then i think that would have for us at least yeah made more of an impact uh-huh this seems like with everyone else is kind of like yeah no it did that but it just wasn't it just wasn't doing that for us like yeah we were constantly aware of sort of like the filmmaking seams and the acting and everything and like the guy who plays
Starting point is 00:50:39 Percy really grew up me a lot. I found myself when he did say, when he fights Aries and he does have that moment of like you'll know who I am. Like I really felt that line. Great delivery. And I was really connecting with him. I will say I never did reach the point though where I felt the chemistry
Starting point is 00:50:59 with the trio. I never quite got there. I'm with you. I'm with you. They got to the whole like, we meet back here. Yeah. Rovers like they'll hug and I'm like, I feel nothing. Yeah, you're supposed to feel something there. Yeah, and I didn't. I didn't feel like they really have the chemistry there. I just don't really feel like much of an ensemble trio thing,
Starting point is 00:51:20 which could improve on season two. But for your title character, Percy, I really found myself like, no, I really like the guy who plays person. I really click with him, and he brings a good amount of nuance. Because his character seems very specifically like, difficult on the emotional capability. That seems like that's what his character is, kind of a repressed inward person.
Starting point is 00:51:45 So I don't imagine he'd be like this big array of expression. Yeah. And so that guy has to do a lot to have it be internalized or through the eyes. So what he's brain feels just appropriate. Yeah. Still, I think there should be more chemistry with the other two. And I just never quite reach those heights. No, I mean, it should feel like, you know, sisterhood of traveling pants meets or stuff that they do with, like, stranger things, where that moment happens and you really feel something like, you feel like you might cry. It was so symbolic. But that didn't really happen here. But, you know, the other stuff was good.
Starting point is 00:52:24 Like, I felt like he had more chemistry with Luke. Oh, yeah. For sure. I really liked his chemist. Like the guy plays Luke is good. Yeah. And his, his, uh, I believed him as a good guy. Because I had the subversion at the very beginning. Right. Where he seems like he might be the jock bully, but he's not.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Right. Like an all right guy. And the guy plays Poseidon was really good too. I really like how he wasn't just some like chauvinistic d bag. Right. He'd see that there was like a bigger reason why he left him alone. It probably has to do for the fact that he did love the. mom's name Sally they did love Sally yeah the setup for season two is really good honestly
Starting point is 00:53:05 these last two episodes I thought like the seventh episode I thought was great like these last two were just so much better they were great and the scale of it was felt and like the praises that from acting to music the music was phenomenal yeah music was so good the visual effects were really good the cg i was really good like tear and i i think made a comment off camera about how a lot of disney plus shows kind of look the same like the lighting of them all look the same you know from like if you watch the star war shows the marvel shows and percy jackson there's something where like you do a montage trailer of all their disney plus shows and they all kind of look like they're lit by the same guy and that i didn't get that vibe with especially they probably are same team just
Starting point is 00:53:48 moving from the same thing yeah yeah not much pop i didn't get you're right but seven seven specifically eight though too because that lance was in eight right yeah yeah yeah yeah those two i didn't i didn't feel like that at all um yeah like we were in different places an actual world and that's kind of what we wanted you know from the start but didn't fully get that it sucks lance's past because man he yeah he's a perfect zeus he's so great saying that to be kind because he's gone he was a perfect he had that regality where he shows up and you know a lot of these characters are showing up and they're just like in normal clothes or suits or whatever and it's kind of funny which makes it feel like a play sometimes and right didn't with him no god
Starting point is 00:54:34 no he's so grounded and so just freaking great done all right I mean last two we're really good I don't know how much audience we lost along the way yeah you know we're they're really good and maybe we'll do season two yeah we'll see we'll see if the views just keep dip in the way they are right now or maybe we'll give it a shot who knows who knows we do have screen oh we do, but like the first two. Something like that. We'll find out. We'll find out. It's a holiday season. We'll see. We'll let you know. But guys, we've got just a couple of questions. You want to knock them out? Yeah, let's do it. Driving ahead, what did you think of the Luke twist? I bet you were not super
Starting point is 00:55:12 surprised since Luke is also a villain in the movie. The twist blew my mind in the book, and the movie really failed to do Luke justice. Luke is the friend that he fought with at the end. No, I know. Is that what you're saying? In the movie? I don't remember. Oh, I don't remember Luke in the movie at all. The show version affords Luke more perspective Even when compared to the books Luke almost succeeds in killing Percy With a Poison Scorpion in book one
Starting point is 00:55:39 Okay Okay Wait a minute I think he's in the second movie And then something attacks the school I don't know I really didn't like that movie There was something attacks the camp I think that's what he's talking about
Starting point is 00:55:56 Okay I don't know I don't know if my mind is making it up now But I think he's in the second movie But no actually I didn't pop it in my mind When I'm watching this I didn't recall that until right now I like because what we did see
Starting point is 00:56:11 Oh no we didn't The poison scorpion Yeah I didn't suspect he was bad Until 15 seconds before they revealed I agree It was still a twist for me Because I don't remember obviously anything From the movie
Starting point is 00:56:26 in what you're saying driving ahead. So I thought it was good and I thought he did a great job. I really like to fight choreography in that. It's a good time. Yeah, and I like when a show can give you a villain turn
Starting point is 00:56:39 and have their argument feel truthful. Yeah, it felt like where I could maybe go, he doesn't make a little sense. I was like, you know, I've seen the show. Yeah, they're not very good people and I kind of agree with him on a lot of points. Totally. And the guy really sold it.
Starting point is 00:56:55 He didn't. And the only reason why I even was looking out for is because of that warning the Oracle gave. And that's why I thought at first it was Annabeth who took the helm of Haiti's helm because someone was supposed to betray him, right? There was supposed to be some traitor, wasn't there? And that's the only reason why I popped up. And then, you know, I can't like celebrate too much by guessing something that got revealed 10 seconds later. Yeah, totally. But it was, no, I was pleasantly surprised.
Starting point is 00:57:21 I thought it was really good. Good stuff. Jay Rushdon, what do you think of the surprise that? Zeus nearly pulled Leo. Where are you? Okay, here's the... Oh, the Leo Point. Okay, that's what I mean. Yeah, once upon a time in Hollywood,
Starting point is 00:57:37 Leo Point, the meme. Got it. Yeah. Thank you. Okay. And also, he says, sadly, Lance Frederick passed away. But Zeus is a badass. We agree.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I love Lance. I remember when I saw John Wick 4, the second he popped on the screen, we all were like.
