Starting point is 00:00:49 had no idea he was coming honest thoughts what did you think about the iMac experience and what did you think about the movie i think it'll be a disappointment for anybody to watch this other than like in the iMacs experience like you have to watch it there's no other way to watch it i think it's one of the most visually appealing movies that's seen since f1 okay all right okay so i think to this year right now has the best visually appealing movie yeah i think sound-wise i think they killed it when it came absolutely man so the movie itself did you enjoy it oh yeah look honestly i think i will watch this twice it's yeah yeah it's like a fun ride throughout the whole time it's not contingent on having to know everything that came with tron prior i know thank god

Starting point is 00:01:27 It's a fun time, you hear that? For sure. You're able to have fucking fun. Roxy said be normal. I'm being normal. So normal. Coy, what'd you think of the IMAX experience and what did you think of the movie itself?

Starting point is 00:01:40 I thought Tron was made for IMAX and that is an experience that is so bombastic and so big and so bold. And to be honest, hearing nine-inch nails and IMAX speakers is a really wonderful experience. So I think if you intend to see Tron Ares, see it in IMAX. And what'd you think of the movie itself?

Starting point is 00:01:57 Sure did watch a movie that's a pro-AI propaganda machine. Boy, oh boy, did they try to make me empathize with something that isn't human for fucking two hours? And did I connect? No. Did I think that Jared Letto was extremely well cast as a robotic entity that has done such great work as Dallas Byers Club and Lord of War and Requiem for a Dream? But doesn't in this? Yes. But was it appropriate?

Starting point is 00:02:20 Sure. Did I care about anyone? Nine Inch Nails. Did you like the action? Yeah. I mean, it's hard to connect to action when you don't actually have, like, the weight of the human connection. So, like, there's a fucking spectacle for the eyes and ears, and that's why I think IMAX is so wonderful, because even if you're not invested in the humans, you get this splendor.

Starting point is 00:02:40 But the problem is when the action's over, you're like, I feel similar to when it started, because you don't have that human connection. I really wanted to connect, and I kept trying to connect. But if you make a movie about an artificial entity and you're nailing that feeling, when are you going to connect? And then we got another member from RTTV here, Bobby. First of all, it's weird seeing you here. I really didn't know RTTV will be here at all. He hadn't surprised you.

Starting point is 00:03:01 Great event. Just not let you know, great event. Oh, thank you, man. There's also like 40 more of them on the channel, but we got the best two here. Amazing movie, the score. I just have to recommend the score was amazing. I love scores from Star Wars to Jaws. This score was amazing.

Starting point is 00:03:16 And Jared Lido, I have to say, he definitely did a great, great, great job, phenomenal job. I love the villain. I love the theme. I don't want to give no spoilers away, but the storyline's amazing and it has to do with a lot of what's going on in the world now, too, for the future AI and everything. It's kept a little bit of similar stuff from the legacy of Trone, but overall, great movie, great experience, and you got to see it in the IMAX. Griffin from FilmSpeak today. Oh shit. Griffin, I've seen your Tron legacy video. Yes. I know you love IMAX. Yes. What did you think about the IMAX experience and what did you think about this film? who does video essays, sum it up in 30 seconds. Yes, as an IMAX experience,

Starting point is 00:03:56 I thought they used the ratio very well. I like the way that it was moving in and out of the ratio. And for very immersive experience, I thought overall, especially when they get the nine inch nails score pump in, it's like, cool, cool. As a movie, not a big fan. I gotta be honest. Honestly, it just sucks.

Starting point is 00:04:13 Honestly sucks. I just, to me, it just felt like they had so many ideas for what they wanted to do with a sequel. They just kind of like threw them all into one film. I was literally just talking to my friend about the fact that, like, the Greta Lee character feels like it was intended to be Sam Flynn in a previous draft, and it explains why they kind of, like, gloss over so much stuff with her character. And while the visuals were better than what I was expecting,

Starting point is 00:04:35 like Jeff Cronin-Weth, Fincher's DP shot it, and so naturally he's going to make a movie look good. And as much as I like the 9-inch Nails score, it was oppressive at times. I felt like it was just kind of overtaking everything that was going on. Aggressive. Yeah, it's just like, it's a great score in isolation. but like where daft punk knew how to like pull stuff back and like really play into the emotionality of moments i thought this was just like constantly beating you over the head

Starting point is 00:04:58 yeah i don't know it was just a lot of jumbled stuff and a lot of exposition was my back wow by griffin i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm here with aaron you guys know aaron i have not talked with you about what this movie is that's a weird way to go into it you know i'm trying to say take it away be honest i thought the i max experience was incredible It's had sound that I can feel. Music felt good in a place like this. The movie itself was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it.

Starting point is 00:05:27 I watched the first two for the first time in a long time, literally the past two nights. And I have to say, I feel like this did some stuff better than the ultimate. The more personal, it is for sure more intense. There's a scene in the middle that had like a guitar riff on a motorcycle or on like a... Yeah. I think that was really freaking fun. Jared Lotto was pretty good in the movie.

Starting point is 00:05:47 I personally had a really, really fun time with it. And I would watch it. again in like a format that is iMacs or otherwise so yeah go tron arian i found my doppelganger he's here how's it going all right i really liked it i had fun i'm like yo this is so much fun i don't know what people are complaining about the iMac's experience is a lot of fun it's in the one nine zero to one aspect ratio not one four three you know the one that nolan uses yeah but it makes it worth it to watch it in iMacs for that reason because it's in that taller format i think once they got into like the first big bike chasing yes suddenly i was like all right

Starting point is 00:06:22 i'm on board for this rock yeah exactly once we got there i was like hell yeah let's keep this ride going i i really feel like this is a movie that like because i'm seeing mixed reviews online i feel like give it 10 to 15 years everyone's going to love the movie i thought about that too i'm like this is going to be one of those underappreciated roller coaster right exactly yeah so i really enjoyed it sir please state your name for the camera ricky aka filmtopia oh filmtopia good i didn't even to tell them where to plug her. Man, he's got a huge following, my friend. First and foremost, let me just say this.

Starting point is 00:06:50 I've watched the movie twice. Oh, really? And I've had two very different experiences. Okay. One, I did not watch this in IMAX, and I am not about to, like, use this as a promotion for IMAX, but it's just going to happen. Yesterday, I did not watch it in IMAX. Today, I watched it in an IMAX, and I absolutely adored the movie.

Starting point is 00:07:05 These seats were rocking, vibrating. You felt it in your chest. My lips were quivering. I was like, am I lips rumbling me? I was absolutely mesmerized by. that the score was you know riveting absolutely made such a vibrant experience man so so what would you would you recommend it here's the one thing oftentimes they say story is king story is queen but sometimes and very rarely does this happen but there are

Starting point is 00:07:32 movies where you just need to experience them yeah sometimes you need to shelve you know the dialogue you need to shelve certain aspects of the story you know you don't need them to be absolutely perfect but can you walk away think that was an awesome, amazing experience that I won't forget. Starting point is 00:07:53 Jasmine. Hi, friends. All right, Jasmine. Yes. Start with the IMAX experience first. IMAX is the only way that I watch anything. So I feel like if I watch something out of IMAX, I notice the difference. So when I'm watching a film nowadays, since I'm always watching an IMAX, it just is perfection.

Starting point is 00:08:08 There's really no other way to watch a film. I had a lot of really high expectations. I've seen a lot of Jared Lettle films. And for me, this is really, one kind of lends into that very Jesusy feel that he kind of goes for. Jesus Leto. Jesus Letto, I felt that throughout. But what I will say is, while this wasn't one of the top films, I love Ready Player One.

Starting point is 00:08:28 And I love the idea of this older entity that kind of sets a roadmap for us to have to discover. And you really feel that throughout this film. But ultimately, for me, this film is just an idea of at what point does AI become simply intelligence and at what point does you know complex code become simple sentience so I thought that was really beautiful I'm here with Russ from the direct I pull stories from the direct every week on our podcast Russ is always like when can I go on the channel you know you made it buddy I did you're freaking here we often have interesting

Starting point is 00:11:00 China Legacy. So that's the only thing I could compare it to. Visually, it's stunning. Perfect for IMAX. Yeah, absolutely. The soundtrack, nine-inch nails, just nailed it. But to be honest, I actually prefer Daft Pump. Oh.

Starting point is 00:11:13 You know, so. That's a fancy. Fair opinion. But the cast is great. Gretely, it's awesome. Action is great. Again, I kind of prefer legacies because it's more cleaner. It's just a cleaner action to me in Legacy.

Starting point is 00:11:26 This one's a little bit harsher. Yeah. This one kind of wants to shake you a little bit. Exactly. It wants to kick you around. It really represents a bit of a grittier side. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But did you enjoy it overall?

Starting point is 00:11:36 Yeah. No, no. Definitely enjoy that. But definitely recommend it on IMAX for sure. For sure. That's right. That's all we need it. We just see you say on IMAX, and then I've done my job. There we go. Is there everyone about the movie itself? But you recommended IMAX. So we're okay. I'm here with Brielle right now. Starting point is 00:12:02 Oh my God. And I came in and I thought it was a really fun movie. I had a great time. I think that it kind of strayed from the original trio in a hole it kind of stepped in a different direction but I like the way they were able to kind of bring in the like legacy of it all they were able to bring the legacy into the story without it making it feel like it was a repeat too much I like the nostalgia they would you think of the IMAX experience okay wow it's a rumbling time isn't yes yes I think I've decided I also want to see it with like the effects and all that stuff but IMAX was insane it felt like the

Starting point is 00:12:40 screen couldn't get any bigger. It was wonderful. I'm here with Darnow, who I met moments before the screening. Darnow, what did you think about the IMAX experience? What did you think about the movie itself? And are you happy to see me today? Yes, I'm very happy to see. So into Mike, say that back. Very happy to see the Greg Alba of the Brewery Jax. He's so cute, so muscular and so nice handsome young man about the iMac's experience i thought it was very gripping from the first shot it very much pulled you in right when the credit started rolling the sound especially i think is an underrated part of the iMac's experience and it was very much you know just very gripping the movie itself i thought it was a good movie um had some very solid themes that i felt

Starting point is 00:13:29 you know took me out a little bit from the main character that it was focused on however i did think that the characters had, you know, a little bit more going for me as far as chemistry-wise goes. The movie itself is a normal Tron movie, has a solid plots that it picks up from from the first one. If you watch the end of the first one, it very much carries in line with the very much AI theme that it carries on with, and it's very much modernized to the day's time. So I would very much say it's a good movie, go check it out, because I'm a big fan of these movies, so I need this movie to succeed, make as much money as possible, so we can get lower-tron movies and there's more Disney action movies like this one.

Starting point is 00:14:05 Hey, man, I stopped listening after you said how good looking I was. I'm here with Yenifer right now. Yenifer, I met moments before the screening. Yeah. Yenifer, you just watched Tron Legacy for the first time last night, was it? Or like a couple days ago? I did, yeah. Okay, so now that you've seen Tron Legacy, what did you think about?

Starting point is 00:14:24 I love the experience, but I watched the previous movie, and I think I like this one better than the other. Really? Do you know why you would like it better? Yes. because in the other movie, the father sacrificed himself. And I don't think that was fair, but I like it. Okay, yeah. You really don't like that ending choice of Charlottlese.

Starting point is 00:14:45 No. Do you watch a lot of movies in IMAX? This was my first time. What did you think of the size and the sound? Love it, love it. It feels realistic. I like it better than other regular movie theaters. I love your sincerity.

I had no expectations coming in. Okay. Hadn't seen any other Tron movies. The IMAX experience, two really important things. First one is the music.

Starting point is 00:16:45 I felt it like in my bones and in my soul. It was like, it was inside. Second thing is anybody, anybody, anybody wants to watch this movie, I would recommend bringing drama mean. Maybe it's because I was in the, I was in the, in the first row my fault because I was late that's that happens man from the opening credits to the end there were many moments where I like felt actually motion sick yes like I was on a ride at

Starting point is 00:17:12 disney oh my god I loved it here did you like the movie itself it was fun the visuals were amazing of course and yeah hadn't hadn't really seen any tron movies before but it was cool all right first strong movie it's a great time all right peterson joe man what a crazy roller coaster The IMAX experience, as always, is great, the sound system, just feeling everything in your seat, like feeling like, whatever it's called, the giant spaceship roll through the city. Movie-wise, I guess for me, the pacing was the biggest deficit. They were trying to show so much stuff, but for the life of me, I felt like I couldn't empathize that much with everything that was happening.

Starting point is 00:17:55 Hey, it's fair, man. I will say, as somebody who rewatched the first film and the second. film before this i was surprised how much callbacks to the original and even to legacy that we're here in this for people who are fans of tron that will be impressed by all the callbacks and what they're teasing to happen next i guess there's a mid-credit scene stick around as long as you like the iMacs experience yeah no i won't get in trouble today i'm here with jen right now it's incredible to see a movie like this in this kind of a theater like with the sound you really really feel it in your bones with this with this base but it's not it's not

Starting point is 00:18:33 overwhelming it's just really cool and I love the movie oh you love the movie I'm a huge drawn fan the fact that it had connections to the original it's a legacy I got really excited when I was like you know I'm like like that Leo like gift right that's like oh yeah I know that thing I know that shit it's very much what you would expect this is a fun movie this is it it's not super deep there are some like interesting themes with it especially with like a and where we're ahead with that, which is actually kind of a little frightening that it's, you know, we know that this has been production for, like, a few years at least. Yeah. Incredible special effects. I mean, the music is incredible. Yeah. I'm a huge daft punk fan, and I didn't think that they'd be able to follow up with anybody.

Starting point is 00:19:16 Nine-inch nails, yeah. They said, nine-inch nails, and I'm like, all right, I'm on board. And there's still a lot of homages to death punk in there, too. So it's a very nice little homage to legacy, and hopefully maybe we'll see more of them. We'll see. Well, it's good to hear that a Tron fan actually enjoyed the third Tron movie. I'm here. Starting point is 00:19:41 What did you think of the IMAX experience? And what did you think about the movie itself? Okay. You can see any movie on IMAX, whether it's good or bad. And it's always a win. Yes. Um, I actually thought that the Tron Airis was better than the legacy. Hell yeah.

Starting point is 00:20:29 shots to work with than Legacy. So what you see with every light cycle is pretty much touching camera most of the time. So, and then as for the movie itself, way better than it has any right to be after being developed for nine years. Outside of the mediocre Jared Leto of it all, it is a very fine continuation. Much more references to Legacy and Tron than the trailers led on to me. So overall, would you recommend it as a Tron fan? Yes. Awesome. That's what I love to hear. Mm-hmm. That was very efficient.

Starting point is 00:21:27 It's like a Dune Part 2. Dune, Part 2 type of experience for IMAX, Avatar, Way of Water type of experience. Great visuals, great soundtrack. I think the soundtrack is amazing with 9-inch nails, also sets the tone. A couple of nitpicks here and there, not too much, but I had a very good time. I kept my expectations, very mild, nothing too high, and I came out really enjoying the movie as a really good experience. I think this is a really good popcorn flick.

Starting point is 00:21:53 Could it came out in the summer. It's a little dark. It could be Halloweeny. Yeah. Yeah. Actually, no, I changed my mind. It is very Halloween-y. See, that influencer.

Starting point is 00:22:16 I think that IMAX is perfect. I love IMAX. I did get a little motion sickness because of how real a lot of the stuff felt. And all of a sudden, things were coming at me. And I felt so in the movie. that I felt like I might vomit for a second. Wow. Too immersive. I don't know if that's it.

Starting point is 00:22:33 I mean, I feel like that's an endorsement of how immersive it really was. It really is. For a minute, I was like, okay, and I like held on to my seat because I felt dizzy and nauseous for a second. The movie was, it was a movie for sure. And I thought that the score was excellent. Nine Inch Nails are fantastic and the visuals were sick. Yes. And I thought that Jared Leto, this was like one of my favorite performance.

Starting point is 00:22:58 of his. Wow, really? Yeah, because I feel like he was perfect for this. He was kind of playing himself. He kind of nailed it. And I had heard that Jody Turner Smith was underutilized. I thought she actually did an excellent job. I love Greta Lee. I'm a big morning show fan, obviously, as we know, I'm the TV girl. And I think that every actor understood the assignment. And I think that that's really hard in a movie like this. And all things considered, I thought it was an enjoyable two hours of my life. Greg, how did you feel about the movie? I've been listening to you here, everybody's talk. I actually thought the movie was fun.

Starting point is 00:23:30 Once it gets to the first real action scene where they go into the real world, I was like, okay, I think I get this movie. It's meant to just be like a roller coaster ride that is sometimes a very bumpy ride, but sometimes it's a really enjoyable ride. Totally. I'm not the biggest Tron fan to begin with a lot of the time. I mainly just show up for the visuals and the spectacle. Weirdly feel like it had a bit of a strange pro-AI message.

Starting point is 00:23:53 I like that records. I'm like, I kind of get the sense of that too. anti because like they can do their own thing then you know i feel like by the end we weren't so pro it was about having like learning how with the future can have a relationship i guess i think the movie's mainly just setting out to have like a bunch of different stitch together action scenes and justify it i think they were trying to do like a fury road but with tron sometimes that works sometimes it doesn't but i would be lying if i said i didn't find like a lot of the action scenes incredibly entertaining i wasn't necessarily really hooked into any characters i like the

Starting point is 00:24:24 archetype of Aries. No one's talked about Evan Peters. Evan Peters is one of my favorite actors. He's amazing. And he plays one of the most generic bad guys in this movie. And I was like, man, he gets a lot of screen time. But he is. They really did not realize the power actor they had on their hands. They really underwrote this shit. With Gillian Anderson. I know. Julian like they get a lot of great actors for some really not well-written material for the actors. But I show up for this for the visuals. Like, that's what I watch it for. And the visuals really delivered and I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. Who are you recommending this to?

Starting point is 00:24:56 Like if somebody said, well, I like that, who do you think the target demo for this should be? I feel like if you want to like have something that is actually thought provoking, I would not recommend this move. I think a general Tron fan will enjoy this. And I feel like if you just like popcorn entertainment, you'll probably enjoy it. In spite of the fact that sometimes the nine inch nails music does feel like aggressively, like it's like a little harsh, but that kind of works for the darker vibe. I felt like I was kind of understanding this where other people weren't.

Starting point is 00:25:24 And I know what that sounds like because I'm hosting this screen. Because you're a genius. Yeah, because I'm a fucking genius. Because everybody here was an idiot, right? Everyone here who really vehemently disliked it doesn't know what they're talking about. And their opinions go last in this video. You reject them. I reject them.

Starting point is 00:25:38 This is my opinion. I give it a... It's the right one. Passively entertaining time. It's shot with IMAX cameras and the sequences in the grid in real world, the action does deliver. And for sound design and experience 9-inch Nails music, And that's why everyone here is citing that because it is worth it just for that alone. Totally. If you can go into the singing, it's like a music video for a nine-inch nails album.
