Starting point is 00:01:05 I'm ready to go fast. I'm ready to go furious. Let's do it. Let's drift. Oh, my God. Okay. I love Jason Statham. He's perfect for this franchise.
Starting point is 00:01:20 That's awesome. I'm freaking out. Oh, my God. I cannot believe it. I can't wait. I can't wait for the next one. Well, guys, we just finished the fast and the furious six. If you were watching or listening to this on Apple or Spotify,
Starting point is 00:01:43 you want to give us five stars. That was great. Tara, how you feeling? What you think? Feeling good. Feeling good, feeling great. That was a fun movie. It was.
Starting point is 00:01:52 It was great. I loved all the callbacks. I loved how they brought up his code. especially with Dom and talking to Shaw. I love how they brought up family a lot more. That's all bringing it back to like where we started, which is really what I think every movie should have a drawback too. Totally.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Which I super appreciated about this film. And I love that like Letty's back, obviously the chemistry between her and Dom is unreal. And it makes sense that she would have amnesia and not remember. Because I was like, where has she been? this is wild right but um the way that they presented that as a story i'm like that's believable what they put with the necklace at the end would statham i am all for it like obviously jason would fit so well in this franchise um but i obviously i mean if we were to get think about it
Starting point is 00:02:51 bin diesel the rock and jason statham in a film shut up that is like killer That would be so much fun. I like that we got to go back to, like, where they were. I loved a lot of the writing in this, especially when he's like 1327. And I was like, oh, that's their house. Like, it's all just really good and reminiscent and nostalgic of the first one. And a lot of that is like this whole movie is about us fighting for family.
Starting point is 00:03:23 That's really what it is. It's not even the money or them having necessarily freedom. because they had freedom in Spain or wherever they were or wherever they were where there's no extradition. But what they wanted was family, which means to be back home. That's why in the beginning of this movie,
Starting point is 00:03:40 they were saying, I get it. We have everything we need, but it feels different, right? It didn't feel like home. So this movie and all of these characters are always fighting to get back home. And now that they are, I'm curious to see where we will go next. but I do like to see them back at home.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Yeah, yeah, I can agree with that. It is nice to see them back home, like this culmination, return to form kind of experience. You know, we had in the first movie, you know, seeing them kind of back at the barbecue saying grace and whatnot. Yeah, I think this one is a lot of fun. I really like the direction this franchise has taken with it being more James Bond slash, you know, heist-esque.
Starting point is 00:04:27 you know and the cool thing about it is each movie even though i mean so far each movie has had its own distinct voice as part of this larger story but they find ways to to kind of reinvent it you know the last one is very much a heist movie this was like we're taking down the people that are doing their own heist or like and it was it's just interesting i like the fact that we've kind of diversified and diversified our storytelling and up the action up the ante utilizing the tools and characters and story meets we've had from the last one to then incorporate that an interesting way that's going forward like the fact that we brought back Braga from number four and then got the answers and got more context that's what happened in that
Starting point is 00:05:10 movie and then this is almost like a perfect pairing because that movie is about avenging Letty and this one's about getting her back and you know it's is it ridiculous is it over the top sure but like in the best way and I'm having so much fun of watching it They find ways to always up the action, make it entertaining, doing things you didn't even know were possible with cars, and having it be in this way that's so thrilling and so engaging because you're just wondering how they're going to top themselves. A tank? We did a whole tank in this movie. It was just crushing cars left and right. Like, I didn't even know tanks could do that.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Yeah. You know? And I just have so much fun. and I would love to have experienced this in the theaters. I'm happy I'm watching it with terror. I'm happy I'm watching with you guys because, yeah, this is just a really good entertaining time. And not only is entertaining,
Starting point is 00:06:05 but the fact that we're able to have a sense of heart as well, you know, like Dom is such a strong character in the sense that he's very steadfast in his beliefs and his code. And then you really got to feel that sense of family and camaraderie in this movie as well between all of them. You tell they all really care about each other. They crack jokes and, you know, have these talks about, you know, the stuff they want to do and their family.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And it's just, it's sweet, but it's also badass. And it's also funny. It has all the things you can ask for for one of the, a franchise. Yeah, I agree. I also think Justin Lynn adopted a style in starting in five of where, I think it started in five of where the camera is sort of at a low angle on the street level and the cars, the crashes. are coming in towards the camera as though if we were there on set the car would crash into the camera
Starting point is 00:07:01 probably not but that's the point of view that they're giving us and I like that he's still that style still remain from five into this and it makes it seem so much more realistic I mean especially in the point when
Starting point is 00:07:17 Paul Walker he runs in to the Land Rover and the Land Rover moves and then he's totally taken off by the little Batman car, right? Like, but the point of view of the camera, we didn't get a ton of those in like one, two, I don't, I don't think three. I really like what Justin Lin has been doing with those points of view in regards to
Starting point is 00:07:38 the camera because it makes it so much more intense. We are seeing a lot of practical effects with tons of cars yet again. I did not know how we would top five to five to me had the best practical effects that we had seen ever. But this one is a long. the same lines is many cars wrecked um and we get the tank on top of it obviously a lot um of like the world around us is being crashed into and we're seeing all of it happen from a really good point of view with the camera which i really enjoyed that that style from five he brought over to six
Starting point is 00:08:18 i would not be surprised if it was maybe the same DP from five and six maybe possibly different ones one through four, I'm not sure. But I really liked the practical effects in this when it came to stunts. Obviously, the choreography I thought was really impressive when we saw them fight hand-to-hand combat. I don't think that the camera moves were like too quick. I don't think they were doing too much like born identity stuff, you know, where it's like really quick camera. You kind of can't see what's going on. I thought they did a really good balance between we're seeing the choreography, we're actually seeing them get into a fight. There's a little bit of that quick cutting to get through it, but I didn't mind it. They still gave us enough for us to see what was going on, which I really, really liked.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think they did a great job. And the fact that, you know, I think still to this, as of watching all of these, I think three is probably my least favorite of them. but, or Tuckio Drift rather, but having him go do this one, four, five, and now six, he's only getting better as a director, which is really crazy because you rarely see that within a single franchise, a director just like kind of learning how to make better films within a particular type of film. And yeah, it's just super cool, you know. And I would, I'd love to see maybe like this in 40X, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:49 It's a theater experience, but I'm curious to know if he's, like, directing the next few. Is it going to just up his style there as well? Yeah, I'm interested to see where, at the end, when the rock goes until next time, my assumption is because they are the best racing team, which is also a family, which, yes, I agree with what Shaw said, makes them vulnerable, that I do think that the rock or Hobbs will need them again if he runs into a superhouse like Shaw and Jason Statham may be one of those. He may be one of those powerhouses that we now, even though they've been settled at home for years, Hobbs may have to bring them back into play to take down Jason Statham.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Well, it seems like it's going to be a revenge story because he's going after his team and who knows how that's going to kind of cut together. And I like the fact that we are now past that point. We had, because we go from one, two, four, five, six, and then Tokyo trip. Yeah, then three. So that's an interesting kind of way that they play with that. So now we're present time, basically. We'll be able to see how the story carries on with Jason in the throws of it.
Starting point is 00:11:14 And I'm curious as to why he. he would be after Dom, I guess not totally surprised because of the old Tokyo drift and what they're going through, but I'm very interested to see where that story takes a turn in how I think that they will utilize Hobbs in that as well. Whether Dom reaches out to Hobbs for help or, I don't know, vice versa. Who knows? Also, Hobb, well, Hobbs is just a great addition to this whole franchise.
Starting point is 00:11:43 The last one, and then he just does no non. nonsense over the top just cop who just whips ass and I'm here for it you know has he gotten in the car and raced himself? I don't think so no. That's not his forte. He ain't about that. No and also you know it's
Starting point is 00:12:00 in Rock's contract for every single movie that he cannot die in any film that he's in. Oh really? Yeah and I think that was a source of contention between him and Vin Diesel. Forgive me if I'm wrong but he hated that he couldn't kill off
Starting point is 00:12:16 the rock because they're very very similar right two big large bald guys um so there is a lot of screen competition between the rock and van diesel um and i think that it was probably a thing where hobbs goes until next time right that we can't kill hobbs off because that really is in dwayne johnson's contracts he doesn't die in films um so that's sort of a fun fact, but I do agree that he is such a great addition to this franchise and also seeing the chemistry that him and Vin Diesel have on the screen, whether that's actually not real in person, I'm not sure. For some reason, I have it in my head that they didn't like each other. Like, I feel like somebody told me that and I think it's like well known that they didn't like
Starting point is 00:13:09 each other. Yeah, I know that there was like some real world beef and then the rocks that he never return to the franchise i don't know at what point that happens but yeah i think that's interesting i would love to kind of dive deeper into that once we've kind of watched all these movies because i don't want to risk getting spoiled on something that happens and i'm just going to look up the rock and vin diesel um oh it's the first thing it came up was contract which i oh yeah of course it's a contract um but it's usually is a contract dispute okay wait hold on um let me look up like uh bro the rock and bin diesel um well you're doing that real quick i want to say luke evans was great as shaw because it felt like you know braga was
Starting point is 00:13:58 cool but he spent most of the movie not even knowing that braga was the villain and then i think roman something is the guy from fast fast two and i think i thought the guy from from fast so he was okay but yeah he was like he was smart and he was a good fighter and he's the leader of this other team but they didn't have that foundation of family like how vin diesel and brian and them all have so i thought that was cool and just watching him out smart and play this cat and mouse game with our main characters was something we haven't seen before he's like the first kind of real supervillain of our supervillain loose term but of our franchise and i like that i like that i I like that we're having proper strong villains to oppose us within these. Because I guess the guy from the last one, he's like a drug, no, he's like a politician or something like that. And he gave back to the people, but in order for them to be in his pocket or like he had leverage over them. So for it to be a different sort of villain, I thought that was cool. And then he had had his team, but we didn't really like to know them that well.
Starting point is 00:15:05 But that wasn't the point. The point was to put Letty on a team to kind of. show what she was missing in her in her life. And I like the fact that we didn't reverse Leddy's Amisia. I like that she's still, you know, in that state, but the fact that Dom reminded her emotionally of what that's like and her seeing what family is like is what brought her back. I thought that was very cool. Yeah, I think that they did a good job of not just saying it, but also showing us obviously in the race he was going to prove to her like, I know. how you race and that's a that's a big way and I really like the scars I like that he had a matching
Starting point is 00:15:46 scar because he's like I followed you I just really like that writing they took a long time that was not anything we've seen before in a different Fast and Furious film that they would actually take what felt was probably three pages that's three minutes that's a long time um to take in a scene of just fin diesel and Michelle in having a conversation reminiscing um They took a lot of time out, and I think that this film needed that, and it was a good call on their part. I couldn't find, there was some stuff that I was like, I think this is like spoilers, and I didn't look at it.
Starting point is 00:16:23 The only thing that I got was that word soon got out that Johnson was referring to D. So who later told men's health that the tough love he gave the rock in trying to get a great performance out of him is what led to tension on set. it was a tough character to embody the Hobbs character Diesel said at the time I don't know I'm not gonna read anymore
Starting point is 00:16:46 because I saw a few things that I was like oh we're skipping way ahead to the other films so that's all right so that's why I don't want to look at the trivia and the other stuff but yes I had heard
Starting point is 00:17:00 that they had some tension on set which I wouldn't be surprised because they're very very similar I would feel a little bit threatened by the Rock's presence is if I was Vin Diesel even though Vin Diesel can fully stand on his own but solely because this is my exact
Starting point is 00:17:14 type and he is more popular at the moment than Vin Diesel was so you would probably feel threatened a little bit by your position even though we can't kick out Vin Diesel in the Fast and Furious France like that'll never happen but I do understand that could be a source of
Starting point is 00:17:30 contention like if I if I know that there's going to be someone like on set that looks like me i know that i probably won't get the job because i'm like well if they're going to hire this girl and she has brunette hair and bangs i'm not going to get the other role like because that's just not how it works yeah so um i'd like that they're still playing against that even though they're very similar i still obviously this is very very enjoyable and now we're going to get three baldies yeah baby i sign me up all day long like oh Oh, my God. Have you guys seen The Transporter where Jason Statham?
Starting point is 00:18:07 He fits so perfectly into this movie. And if you haven't seen Transporter, obviously, I'm sure that maybe the director's got the idea with that. Fantastic movie where he does some racing. And I'm very, very excited to see what comes next. I'm excited to see what comes next to. Like I said, I'm really enjoying these movies. They're a lot of fun. We're going to get three baldies.
Starting point is 00:18:30 You're going to get some more cars flipping action, comedy, hard. all of it. Yes. Yes. We love it. We love it. Oh, and don't forget to go to Reject Nation shop. Get your sweaters.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Get your, your t-shirts. Get all the stuff, you guys. Get your sweaters. Get your t-shirts. Get your witchy winter hoodies, mugs, and shirts. Even though it might be spring by the time this drops. We don't know.
Starting point is 00:18:53 We're six movies in. Release one of a week. It's going to be at least a month and a half. Yeah. So like you can still get these, but we might have new stuff. They'll prep or might put it up there on the screen for you all. Exactly. Well, that has been us, guys. We'll see you guys in the next one. We love you and stay fast.
