Starting point is 00:01:34 I wonder where that leads us into this franchise. I don't think it leads us anywhere. It's just his payback from the airport. Yeah. Yeah. That was fun. But yeah. Well, you were saying.
Starting point is 00:01:44 I was saying like, yeah, it's a lot longer than any of the other Fast and Furious movies. But it's not, not anything that I was like extremely aware of because it's, it's done so well. The writing is so good. The pacing is great. Yeah. Um, obviously now realizing that that David directed Deadpool 2, his direction in regards to comedic timing and how it should be delivered is perfect. And I don't think that this movie would have done
Starting point is 00:02:14 as well if you didn't have someone like him behind the reins, but also I think actors who understand that that pacing needs to be kept up. And every part of this from the action to the pacing of the script was done so well and that's like my the my biggest like critique in most films is that the pacing is not right especially when they do an action adventure they try to add in comedy and the pacing is off and you're like oh they're trying to be funny right now and it's not working that did not happen with this movie this movie is hilarious and the action does not stop 10 out 10 loved it good stuff yeah this movie is a lot of fun and they and exists in an interesting place
Starting point is 00:02:58 within the Fast universe because the last movie we watched was Fast 8, which I presume takes place after, or this movie takes place after Fast 8. And it seemed like they were on good terms. They were like kind of bickering, and then he was mad.
Starting point is 00:03:13 He like punched a wall when he thought Shaw died, and then we're back to bickering and whatnot. But that aside, and the fact that we completely ignore that there's another brother and the fact that we ignore that the Fast family exists entirely. I really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I think for what it is in this like standalone experience, it's a lot of fun. You can watch this movie not having seen any of their fast movies and still have a great time, not be lost whatsoever. Totally. I have an idea that there's some semblance of history there, but it doesn't impede or feel like essential viewing for the experience that this movie is. I really thought they have great chemistry all around. Rock, Jason Stath, and we got to see that in the two movies over. this is the third time we've seen them collaborate. Ryan Reynolds was a great surprise.
Starting point is 00:04:00 He was hilarious. Yeah. Oh my God. Love them so much. I think this is probably the funniest of the Fast and Furious movies. They started to get funny at five. But for this to be part of that franchise, this is definitely the one that takes the biggest step into being an action comedy.
Starting point is 00:04:14 And I did not mind that. I think the movie did a great job of carving its own tone within the larger universe and it did a great job of establishing stakes that were. believable that these two guys were partnered for and to give Vanessa Kirby was great is my first time ever seeing her in anything and I like the stuff that I had to do with uh even though it's not directly tied or connected to the other fast movies I like that it was still had the central theme of family with you know Shaw and his sister and then the rock coming back to his Samoan family and then his connection to his daughter and then Ryan Reynolds wanting to be the
Starting point is 00:04:53 rock's family like all of that stuff was great I think this movie does a great job overall. It's super entertaining. I would have loved to have watched this in theaters. I'm happy I saw it here because it's just a riot of a good time. And then somehow is able to keep the momentum in spite of the fact that it's over two hours long with action scenes that are both engaging and well choreographed. It's like watching a good dance or like a good sport. you're just so enthralled by what's happening because it was it was just so well thought out
Starting point is 00:05:30 maybe not the sports thing but the uh the dancing or something of that that vein um but yeah i i loved it yeah it's kind of like uh the story of two two villains kind of how they're set up a fine family again but also in the interim they find like a brotherhood between themselves in reconnecting with their family. And I think the other part that makes this script just really great is they add in a heart to it, but not like overly so. Like it's very realistic when the Rock shows up.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Well, in the line before that, he's like, I got to go home. And he's like, it's the worst place. And he shows up and, you know, his brother punches him. And then you're like, when the mom gets involved, it's just really good writing where it's like you got to set it all down. because if he shows up, family shows up at your doorstep, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:06:25 You throw it all out the door and you're going to help them. And I know that it's not like every family in the world, but that's what the Fast and the Furious lays down here. So at the foundation of this movie and him going to his family, they're setting that for, they're taking that from all the rest of the films. That's like family is everything. And if you come to our door,
Starting point is 00:06:47 even though we've had some bad juice in the past, I'm going to help you no matter what. So I really like that. And I thought that it was really, really touching at the end when the little girl meets her grandma for the first time. And like it's really sweet because she gave her a hug and she immediately was like kind of crying and said, I love you. And I just thought that was really, that's just so sweet because you don't really think
Starting point is 00:07:12 about there's a lot of times adults you can have some sort of bad juju between you, right? but then if there's a child involved, they're not all wrapped up in that, right? They're not linked to those bad, the bad history behind that. So to leave it all behind and like, even though it was all fine now between the Rock and his mom,
Starting point is 00:07:35 you get what I'm saying. Like to give her the chance to have that family, I thought was just a really sweet ending. I really like that. And of course, the same goes with, with Shaw. It was like Sean,
Starting point is 00:07:48 his sister and his mom and his mom through the past two movies all she has ever wanted is like her family together yeah because in the last one she's like call your brother call your brother call your brother right and now this one it's like go get your sister yeah and it it all i just i really like that that at the core of it it still is about family even the most of this movie is all about action adventure coming together kicking some ass it's it's a really really good time really great soundtrack. I loved it. Like this would be a soundtrack
Starting point is 00:08:22 that I would need to go and find on Spotify and play it. And that's like rare. I felt like every song was a blastoruni. And I think the reason I liked it so much and that it did do so well is that the writer is also
Starting point is 00:08:37 the producer and has also worked with the actors before. And because he is such a name, he probably was able to do what he wanted, but also choose the right producer. who weren't going to F with the script and the choices that had already been pre-made in regards to the outline.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Because from start to finish, I think, I assume that this movie went from page to screen the way that they wanted it to, which is what makes it so good and long because producers would be like, no audience who we can't. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:12 I'm definitely wounded now, so. Like five post-credit scenes. Do you want to know my blood time? What's your blood type? Let's be positive. Just, just like my life outlook. Gun, I'm playing so, so much right now. No, that's not my blood.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Oh, God, I thought that was me. I stabbed a guy with a brick. It's nothing. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. So good. Makes sense why there's so much Ryan Reynolds in this. Because he directed him in the last one.
Starting point is 00:09:45 That was the last movie before he did Hop and Shaw. Yeah. Um, David Leach, yeah, or Litch. All right, Reganation, I'm going to tell you guys about one of the most stressful times in our YouTube journey. So a couple of years ago, our channel got hacked. It wasn't just the channel, it was our AdSense account two where a YouTuber gets paid. And in summary, it really sucked. They were in a completely different country.
Starting point is 00:10:08 They were siphoning off a little bits out of time, just enough for you to not notice. But one day I did, and it resulted in thousands of dollars being taken. And we're doing better on the channel. not more than ever, but it was during a period where we were not doing so well. We were certainly living paycheck to paycheck. Thankfully, YouTube helped us out and we were able to recoup that money. But it was one of those moments where you felt like you hear about this kind of thing happening all the time, but until it happens to you, you don't quite grasp how exposed you really are online. And yes, that is why I wish we had something like today's sponsor,

Starting point is 00:11:44 No. Yeah. We got nine and ten after this. Nine and ten. Do you want to guess what has gotten on Rotten Tomatoes? I, sure. I think on Rodden Tomatoes, audience score, I hope, would be 89. And I think Critics score is going to be a 73.
Starting point is 00:12:11 Okay. Okay. You were very close with the audience. It's 88. and critics were 67. Nah, I'm not surprised. Yeah. What did I say?
Starting point is 00:12:20 73? Yeah, he's still pretty fairly close. Yeah, I mean, he did go from a skirt to pants. We don't know how he got the pants on. I get that. They had to shirt him back up to get in the old helicopter truck scene. That was the only weird thing that I was like, that's weird. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:39 I'm sure there's some other stuff, but like critics, uh, go away. oh way get out of here are they gonna pay off this is a blast errone yeah I'm super blessed I mean this is fun like you can't really get into this for like here's all the issues
Starting point is 00:12:55 where it's like maybe there's some stuff but really at the end of the day it wasn't anything too huge for us and we'll call it out we've called it out before stuff that like bothers us there wasn't anything I don't think that was really huge
Starting point is 00:13:09 or written where it's not smart like I like that the sister like i was like uh you shows the fuel the thing she can take care of herself i love that love that writing um i love that the doctor comes back in with the freaking flame thrower and is like i'm not loose change or whatever like i thought it was good writing great callbacks it's it's a good time it's a good time i think my favorite scene is probably when they're both going through the the double doors and jason satan i have to take out a bunch of guys and he just takes out the one big guy and it's to keep going to take him to the thing
Starting point is 00:13:43 to get access. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Yeah. Terry, do you have any final thoughts? No, this is a good time. I don't know. 63 with the 6.7.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Shut up. Get out of here. Out of here. Get out of here. This is a great time. Happy I got to watch it. I'm happy. I got to watch it.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Me too. All right, guys. So we're going to get out of here. But we're going to be back soon with Fast 9. We love you guys. And we'll see you in the next one. Thank you. Thank you.
