This week's video is sponsored by Rocket Money,
a personal finance app that I've been using
for about a year and a half now
before we ever partnered up with them
after the reaction.
I'll tell you why I love them so much
and what they are.
Prepare yourselves.
Okay, we're just going to watch this.
We're going to see how it goes
and we're grateful to you guys.
Thank you so much for letting us be the she-jacks,
the horror host, the screen queens.
We love you so much.
Why do they like us so much?
We don't know.
Thank goodness for you.
I was starting to feel like no one
never love me again. No. But then your heart and your mind were once. It's one man and we're here
to love you all the way through all these horrors. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. We're the
horror horse. Yeah. All right. Here we go. All right, friends, before we let you know our full
thoughts on that, don't forget, if you are on Apple podcast, Spotify, five star, let us know how you
you guys are feeling. Leave a comment. We read things over there and on YouTube. We want to know
how you guys are feeling. It's the only reason that Tara and I have been able to take on so many
horror franchises is because you guys are letting your voice be heard. And it means the world to us.
So thank you so much for that. Okay. It says at the bottom, did you like Freddy's Dead,
the final nightmare? It's like a prompt for us, Tara. I would have to click, not for me.
but that's only because I just didn't now I yawned a few times I don't normally like
yon during these I wasn't really scared I went like this because I was going I was yawning I would
felt a little tired like I mean yeah maybe I got here tired but I mean normally these movies
they get me up they get me going they get me excited there's like blood guts and gore but I also like
you kind of you get excited about what's to come and for some
reason it's like this movie just decided yes there were some cool special effects some cool
practical effects like when when freddie starts cutting off his fingers i thought that was cool
green goo yeah like gnarly there there's some great um great stuff in here but i do think that
they just were like this seems cool video game like what if you went in the video game and you know
freddy's controlling it i'm like yeah that's a great that's a cool idea um but maybe if we had seen that
from the top.
It was just like thrown in kind of.
They all were just even like
Groundhog Day with the van over and over
and the three kids.
Why do we have all three of them?
Yeah, I wanted to find out about the town like are they all
Talk to me about the town.
Talk to me about Roseanne Barr for a second.
Exactly.
I don't know.
They just were like throwing the stuff in.
But then they're still there like I need more.
It would have been really cool
if he had taken complete control of this town
not let anybody sleep,
tortured them.
Yeah.
And they were the ones kind of.
of pushing the storyline forward but we saw them and then they were gone agreed yeah absolutely they
that was it i just don't i don't know what service streaming service did we just watch this on
amazon prime okay can we talk about something kind of crazy on amazon prime this has a four and a half
out of five stars wild but it's only 235 reviews so maybe not enough people have watched it listen
It is cool that the daughter is like, get out of here, dad, I hate you, and she kills him.
Awesome.
When the head blows up, when the kid's head, cool.
But overall, as a film with a plot and a story, I didn't like care.
I wasn't like, oh, super excited.
I don't know.
There was just some stuff missing.
The premise says Elm Street's Freddie Kruger terrorizes his therapist daughter who tries to destroy him once and for all.
That didn't happen.
Oh, his therapist's daughter.
Not his therapist.
And like, but even, even so, did he try to terrorize her?
No.
It was all the other kids.
When he says to the guy, like, I just wanted you, Johnny, he's like, I just wanted you
to return my daughter for what?
Like, I wish I, we saw him be like, I've been waiting my whole life to be a tag team
with you.
Like, can we do this together or something?
Like, what did he want her back for so bad?
He was pissed at her because he, she outed it.
for killing his mom her mom but like I just wanted to see why did not why now why do you want her back
what's up with the rest of this town um yeah yeah why the other kids why didn't he why didn't we
see her just being terrorized and then if the kids if you wanted more creative kills in there
like find a way for the kids to to like bump into her somehow or like be in her nightmare but
it was it literally seemed like four different plots and he was
and just terrorizing her because it started with the other kid and all the kids.
I feel really bad saying this, but I really think because we are loving the Chucky franchise
so much right now, it is so hard to see what sequels can be when you take big swings
and what sequels can't be when you take big swings.
And this movie did take a swing.
But like what we're watching right now with the Chucky franchise between bride of Chucky,
seed of Chucky, like them making things so weird, but it works for the character.
they've created as opposed to this where it's like as short films there are some moments of this where
I'm like that is so weird and cool yes but it's it doesn't service the overall franchise or the overall
film and it's unfortunately causing me to not like this the the the freddie movies are supposed to be
some of the greatest horror movies of all time right I thought nightmare on elm street was supposed
be one of the greatest franchises right but it's really not the franchise as much it's not it's the first agreed
I got to look up some things about this
because I'm so curious
I'm super curious about the Brian May part of this
the music I was really expecting
like because you had
really if it was Brian May of Queen
let me let me tell you some stuff about this
Tara let me look into this
and I feel bad you guys because I
did come into this like maybe it was a little tired
but then I got extra tired because I was like
I don't I'm not excited by initially
what was happening. Like the initial opening sequence was cool. Like the tickets and then you're like
the bus and you're like, okay, this is a long nightmare. But then once we just stayed with those
kids and each separate one was being like haunted with bad nightmares, I was just like,
where's the plot? Okay, let's see. Here we go with some trivia. According to Alice Cooper and
never sleep again, the Elm Street legacy, which is in 2010, he stated that he gets asked to be in
films all the time, but they always want him in makeup and as his on-stage persona.
He agreed to be in this film not only because he was a fan of the series, but also if he
could play his character as Freddy's father as himself without his usual Alice Cooper look.
What does that have to do with this one?
Did you zone out for what I said?
When he, when he said in the Elm Street legacy, sleep again, I don't, to.
we see did was that Alice Cooper and I just didn't recognize him that would be absolutely
that shit insane because I old when he was beating him I wear an Alice Cooper that's what I think
it's implying I wear an Alice Cooper shirt I love Alice Cooper was that Alice Cooper and I was just
so out of it Alice Cooper let's see huh Alice Cooper uh what's this movie called Freddy's
Freddy's dead.
Freddy's dead.
Yeah, that was, that's, are you kidding?
That's crazy.
Interesting.
And I just had, did not notice, but then he was in that outfit.
And, wow, that is wild.
That was his dad in the plaid with the hat.
Yeah, beating him.
No, that makes everything so much cooler.
How did you guys get Alice Cooper to, and, and was this the Brian May?
Okay, we got to keep looking at trivia.
That's a crazy thing.
They should have used that as the main attraction.
Okay, let's see.
Did you know?
Peter Jackson's original screenplay for Freddy's dead saw Freddie aging and growing weak within the dream world.
The teens of Springwood would have drug-fueled slumber parties for kicks and enter the dream world to beat him up.
I kind of like that.
That's a fascinating pitch.
I love that.
First film in the series did not include the little girls jumping rope, singing Freddy's rhymes.
Instead, the lyrics appear written in several places.
On September 12th, 1991, a day before the U.S. release of the movie, Los Angeles declared it for any Kruger Day.
Johnny Depp in a television commercial about 42 minutes in, New Line Cinema's first film in 3D.
Oh, it was in 3D.
I did not even notice that that's like, it didn't look like anything was shot specifically about that.
Interesting.
The glove gliding with the sparks coming at you, I was like, why now that's made now?
So, going back to the Peter Jackson, then Peter Jackson was originally hired to write the screenplay for this film.
He wrote a draft, but it wasn't used.
Sounds like maybe that was a mistake.
Reject Nation, when I heard that this company wanted to partner up with us yet again, I was so enthusiastic about it.
Reason being, I had already been using their product for well over a year by the point we first ever collaborated with them.
So the fact that we get to have this ongoing partnership just makes me a happy camper.
And that is, of course, for the app, Rocket Money.
Now, if you guys don't know what rocket money is, don't worry, I got you covered.
I'll tell you about them in just a little bit.
But before that, I wanted to share with you guys why I love this app so much.
It's actually a very personal reason.
You see, like many of you guys, I too grew up in a home where money did not come easily, needless to say.
The predominant conversation in my family household was undoubtedly about financial struggle, financial worry.
And that does a number on you.
So it certainly seeped into my adulthood when I was trying to learn how to become financially
independent. And to this day, as someone who talks a lot about working as mental health,
who's proudly going to therapy, no matter how much lack we might have in money one day
or how much success we might have in money sometimes, I still have to have this ongoing
conversation about my relationship with money. I'm half Filipinos. My mom's always talking to me
about taxes to this day. I think, though, it does start with how you manage the finances you currently
have. See, before I ever acquired any type of reasonable living money, I heard someone speak about
how you have to learn what to do with a dollar now. Essentially, the talk was about don't wait until
you have like a bunch of money and then start figuring out what to do with it afterwards,
like you got a bunch of toys to play with. If you want to acquire more in life, you have to
first figure out what you're going to do with what you currently have. And that's why I love this app.
It's applicable for any financial stage you are at in life. Come to think about it, it would have been very
beneficial for me when I was in a real struggle boat years ago. So in summary, as someone who is
constantly having an ongoing working relationship with how to handle money, rocket money has helped
make that relationship a lot healthier in my life. So what are they? If you don't know what they are,
what they are is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money by canceling unnecessary
subscriptions, lowering your bills, and crafting a budget that fits your specific lifestyle. I'm telling
you, Reject Nation, there's no greater feeling than when you look at the following month and you
see that oh my god i have saved money i've spent less and progress equals happiness the best part is
rocket money does a lot of the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending then customizes notifications
to stay within your budget goals it's not just about saving money it's about actively seeing and
feeling your financial progress and one of my favorite qualities about their service too is when it comes to
monthly subscriptions we've been blessed to be able to expand the team and hire more people but with that in mind
that also comes with a lot more expenses.
So as this business has been growing, having to track exuberant amount more has been just as important.
So now I have to track a lot of these business expenses.
Then I've got to track my own personal finances.
So in general, it's already been helping out a lot with that.
But as you want to make things more efficient, you often find yourself signing up for a lot of apps for free trials that you quickly forget about.
Next thing you know, you're paying a hefty fine for it.
I'm sure, even if you don't have a YouTube channel, there's some way you can relate with that.
You see, because they track your monthly subscriptions.
and they make it super easy to cancel the ones you do not use.
A couple of clicks, and you're putting money back into your pocket.
So if you're like me, have you found hidden subscriptions or pay for services that you totally
forgot about.
Rocket money was a lifesaver in uncovering those and even negotiated some of my bills to about,
like I'd say, down by 20%.
So if you want to join me on this journey of consistently taking care of your finances,
do not want to start later.
The best time is to start right now.
So please do yourself a favor.

is by going and downloading the Rocket Money app yourself. And if it does help you, please go ahead,
draw me a message. I'd love to hear if there's some way by just conveying this message,
it has helped you out too. Thank you, Reject Nation.
John Doe was supposed to be Jacob from the previous film. It was made vague when they couldn't
secure the return of Lisa Wilcox. In earlier versions of the script, Freddie absorbed the entire
town of Springwood into the dream world before moving to the next town with the dream police
chasing after him.
They've made this like so overly, overly complicated.
Yeah.
As this movie was meant to end the series, this is the first nightmare on Elm Street film
not to end on a cliffhanger.
Okay.
When shown theatrically audience members were given one pair of red cardboard 3D glasses with
movie taglines printed on it, the inside arms had adhesives for attaching to standard
glasses. An advertisement for
House Party 2, 1991, was printed
on the outside of one arm.
So that's why she was wearing the three glasses.
Oh, okay. Cool.
The highest opening weekend for the series
until the release of Freddy versus Jason.
Really?
Wait, say that again? This was the highest opening
weekend for the series until the release of
Freddy versus Jason. Whoa.
But they were probably
a little disappointed. I feel like I've lost
you. Have I lost you? I just
You with me? I'm with
you.
I just...
Okay, ready for this one?
Yep.
The director, Rachel Tallulay, got really sick
toward the end of filming schedule.
They couldn't delay production to wait for her.
So according to Sean Greenblatt,
Aaron Warner actually directed the last
several hours of filming of the movie,
including the final scene between Freddie and John Doe.
Freddy and John Doe.
That's John's name.
Right.
Okay.
Got it.
When Freddie punches Tracy in the face during their epic,
fight. Robert England really punched Leslie Dean. Oh my god. Okay, that's crazy. Whoa.
Although this movie is said to be the final installment of a nightmare on Elm Street series,
Robert England would return for his iconic horror antagonist again for new nightmare in 94
and played the role one last time in Freddy versus Jason. Okay. That's cool. I'm excited to see that
one. I can't believe that about Alice Cooper. This is Breck and Meyer's first theatrical role.
that's pretty cool okay um let's see i want to see i need to find out about this
brian may thing so what was this called freddie's dead yeah freddie's dead
brian may because what a weird what a wild choice um okay can you talk in the meantime
yes i'm sorry you're making me worried um i am good uh i am uh i'm good i am i'm good
I'm just, I don't know, maybe I'm, I'm out of it today, but also I'm just, I'm a little just
disappointed in, in the movie. Like, I, it's odd that I can't really pull things to honestly
talk about. I didn't really see the theme, like, but she was right about, like, the, the, that
you just don't be like your parents great. Um, but I, I still think, and it was like gnarly about
how mean the parent.
were right and in the one it's not that Brian May it's not right I didn't think it would be because
this is queen right but I was like but how many Brian Mays are that's probably a lot um that how
gnarly they made the parents in this I get it um but specifically when she seeks like
vengeance on him and she goes to kill him I want to be like hooting and hollering and clapping
and being really excited I there was a portion of that in a different reaction
action you guys will see it that I do but in this one I wasn't I was just like yeah girl like good
job but I wasn't I don't know they they needed to give us more for it for me to like really
celebrate the vengeance and like killing him but this movie didn't do a good job of that I think
we're a little disappointed I'll be interested to see the next one yeah if you are liking us here
go check out our purge franchise that we did go check out the chucky one um i'm if this is your favorite
movie in the franchise let us know why in the comments i'm curious maybe they see something that we don't see
yeah or did you feel disappointed like we did it happens sometimes um but for the goodness of terra
i think we gotta get out of yeah guys like yesterday you know i was struggling with like a migraine
and it's it's gone but that may maybe it's lingering maybe it really just messed my brain up but
We love you guys.
Thank you.

Maybe a reaction to just physical objects or something like that.
You know, I just want to please pandemic because I feel responsible for ruining your month last month.

I hate that about myself because I love you.
So the pandemic I want to catch is remorse for my actions and forgiveness from you.
