So shall we get to Friday 13th, Part 3? Yes!
All right, guys, we just watched Friday the 13th, part three.
Oh, yeah.
We finally have seen the mask.
And we hear that, we hear it gets better and better.
Four and six are amazing, things like that.
In comparison to one and two, how do you feel about three?
You know, it was kind of the same level of excitement, I think, is two,
because it was like the same recap in the beginning.
and then we did stay kind of in the same location,
killing off people one by one.
I wonder if this felt like it might have moved.
It kind of moved at the same pace, too.
I did like that we got to see Swamp Boys face like a little bit more at the end.
Yeah.
He is creepy as hell.
And we got to see him a lot here.
And I really, I like that.
Like that's so creepy.
it kind of felt the same I mean not it wasn't the same movie but it felt like a little bit of the same pacing same kind of recap same length I think
unless this one maybe was a little bit shorter which I think it was a good move because we're kind of going through the same plot points as the last one
one killing off people one by one but I did still really enjoy it and I thought the kills were a lot better like when he does the when he shoots her in the in the eye
That was awesome.
That was crazy.
Love that.
And she falls back into the water.
She falls back in there.
That's great.
Because you think when she's walking in,
something's coming from that way,
but then we see it come from the other way.
It was like a lot of bait and switches in this one.
Agreed.
And I like that more.
I think I like the kills more in this one.
Even though the plot and maybe the style and the tone of it didn't,
it wasn't totally different.
You know,
kind of followed a little bit of the same juice there,
but I still really enjoyed it.
I'm with you.
I can't deny it.
The premise campgrounds, young kids,
hooking up, coupled off, killing them off one by one,
final girl, swamp person is,
they better switch it up for the fourth one.
A little more than they did for the third one.
Just because it's getting so monotonous, monotonous.
Monotonous, yeah.
Monotonous.
It's just so, like, we know the beats.
Yeah.
That the fact we knew she was going to be the final girl.
Then we know she's going to be in the boat,
but she's going to make it out alive.
And that's fine because we like this.
But, like, I want to see what Jason can do elsewhere.
Yeah.
Is he restricted to only Crystal Lake?
Why did he come for that girl in the first place?
Why is he coming for again now?
Was that her mom, the lady of the lake?
Like, what are we supposed to make of that?
So, yeah, I have questions.
I'm curious what the trivia is on this one.
I think that was definitely mom because she was in the sweater.
It looked like her.
Me too, me too.
And that was wild to see.
I didn't, I like that twist there.
It was still crazy to see Jason on land still there dead.
So now I'm wondering if we see the hockey mask in four, are we now to assume that it's mom back again from the swamp?
Or does Jason just, does he heal himself?
Like, does mommy come out of the swamp, take him into the swamp?
And he, like, is a self-healer.
I don't know. It's wild. We don't know.
This movie came out in 82.
Okay.
And let's see what the trivia is on this.
The house, barn, and lake were all purpose built on location.
The man-made lake wasn't properly sealed.
And subsequently, the water drained into the soil during the first week of filming.
Oh, God. That's terrible.
This was the first of the Friday 13th films to use iconic hockey mask,
which has been in every sequel since.
The Royal Independent Movie Theater in Toronto, Canada,
which closed in 2006,
had owned one of the few copies of the movie
in its original 3D format.
Oh, that's why things keep coming at it.
That's why the thing at the camera.
Okay.
They used to screen the film once every Halloween.
Oh.
Okay, the original plan for the film involved Ginny,
which we know from the last time, Amy Steele,
from the previous film being confined to a psychiatric hospital.
suffering from the trauma inflicted on her during the ordeal with Jason.
She eventually finds that intent on revenge, he has tracked her down, and he begins to murder
the staff and other patients at the hospital.
Steele ultimately declined the offer to return to the series as she was busy with other
projects, but has since said that she thinks she should have accepted.
See, that movie would have been something I was really interested in.
I would have loved to see that film, and I'm sad that they didn't get to do that.
Yeah.
That sounds really intriguing to me.
Larry Zerner was cast as Shelley when the producer spotted him handing out flyers from a horror movie and asked him if he'd want to star in one himself.
Oh, the olden days, I wish.
That's crazy.
Former trapeze artist Richard Brooker was chosen to play Jason simply because Steve Minor needed a big man for the role.
Being six three tall but not that bulky and slim and toned, Brooker was foam, pass.
added under his clothes and did all his own stunts.
Oh, that's, that's great.
That's where you save some, save some moula.
The film was released on a Friday the 13th.
Love that.
Like you noticed, the Fangoria magazine.
Yeah.
That's pretty much the things, the stuff.
That's a lot of the, the ish.
Oh, one more.
To prevent the film's plot being leaked,
the production used the fake title, Crystal Japan,
after a David Bowie song.
this began an on again off again tradition of giving Friday 13th films David Bowie song titles during something
that's fun that is fun I like that a lot so that's why yeah you and I both noticed that all the stuff was
coming at us right 3D baby and 82 that's cool that's fun it's like I'm into this I just want to see
them shake it up and toss it and see where it goes me too it's just been a little too of the same
note and I agreed and I think obviously they maybe had to go that way they had a really good
idea with the psych ward but you lost out on your lead actress you got to swing the other way um so
I'm really if they had that idea for this one that's why I assume people are saying that they love
the fourth because I assume they're going to switch it up but why my question is like why even do
this one then no no my question yeah my question is we
open on these two people that never come back into play.
Yeah.
And we make this girl's storyline, kind of what they were trying to do,
where she had gotten previously attacked and fought him.
Why not, like, dig a little deeper and see if there's some kind of through line was,
were those her parents that were killed by him and now she's out for revenge.
Like, you know, they clearly were trying to think about different ways to shake it up with the psychiatric ward.
Agreed.
If they were going to make her previously attacked by him in this, why not put her in a psychiatric ward?
Right. Right. Agreed.
So.
Yeah. And just show us that.
It is interesting that they showed us a recap when we didn't really go anywhere with that recap, except that maybe the audience needed a reminder to see what mom looked like in the sweater and the mask.
So that when she pops up.
Two seconds.
Yeah. That when she pops up, you go, that's the mom and not him. I don't know.
But you would know that because the detectives go, the lady of the lake.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, I'm not sure.
Like, definitely into this franchise.
Yeah, me too.
But I'm with you.
I want them to switch it up.
So let's hope for that for the fourth one.
Yeah, I think I'm really stoked to see, like, where this goes.
Because there has to be a reason why, if the first one just lived on in infamy as like a Friday the 13th, cool.
But it kept going and there has to be a reason why there are just so many fans and people that love it.
and wear Crystal Lake gear and stuff like that.
And I don't think it's just because, obviously, of the first one,
so I'm very excited to see where this cult fanship comes from.
And I think we'll get to that in the next one.
So I'm pretty excited.
I would be very intrigued to give a crap about the characters.
Like, I would love some real character differentiations.
I know we had the stoners here,
but like all their characters for all three episodes or all three movies.
Movies have been identical.
They're all like,
like young, white, hook-up culture.
And it's like, what about people with different personalities?
Like, truly, that we really don't want to die.
Agreed.
And you'd have to take a really creative and smart writer to do that.
I know a lot of writers have difficulty writing different characters and different voices.
They all tend to sound the same.
So I really hope we get to see that.
too. I think we will because people say
this franchise only gets better and better.
So we will see it. Any final thoughts?
No. I'm enjoying it and
I'm very excited for the next
one. Drop some love for us in the comments.
Please leave some love for Greg as well.
Yeah. And we will see you guys next time. Later,
Rejects, Cheecks. Bye.
