Citizens of the Reject Nation.
My name is Jackie.
My name is Paige.
And we're here to watch Friday the 13th, Part 5.
A New Beacon.
Oh, it's called A New Beginning.
Yes, it is.
I'm not going to lie, I'm ready for something a little new.
Really?
Yeah, I'm feeling like we're like on Friday the 27th here.
I mean, Friday the 14th.
Yeah.
Friday the 14th.
I like them.
I love them.
We've been with a lot of young people at camp.
I like them.
I like the drama.
You like the drama.
I feel like that's one of my favorite parts.
You like young hot counselor.
Yeah.
I'm like,
who's sleeping with her,
and he's dancing with her,
and who's going to do what, you know?
Yeah, I mean,
I actually really liked the family element
in the last one.
I've thought a lot about poor Cory Velman
in the end of them.
He's done.
I mean,
it may have had a lot to do
with a lot of the child actor.
Yeah.
Drama than that poor kid went through.
God, I can't really stop the kid.
Anyway.
Right.
Shall we dive in?
Let's do it.
This video is brought to you by Element.
More on them very soon.
Okay.
New beginning.
That was something.
That was.
There was a beginning.
There was new.
Yeah.
But before we get into it,
you should join us on Patreon.
We have so many amazing perks over there.
We do.
Including, but not limited to,
15% off merch,
which we have a bunch of really cool merch.
I'm wearing one of our shirts.
You are, okay, great.
Oh, that is our shirt.
Yeah, it's a one of these babies.
Oh, that's so cute.
I like that one.
And Groot.
Groot.
And, wait, who's that guy?
Who's the raccoon?
Sales confidence.
Rocket.
But anyways, you can also sync up with your own copy to watch the full thing with no edits whatsoever.
So amazing.
So amazing.
I mean, get our schedule of what we will be filming ahead of time.
And you can also ask.
us questions and John and Greg also have some exclusive content.
But anyways, head on over.
And while you're at it, give this video a like.
Let us know where this one ranks for you.
Yeah.
All right, Paige, what did you think?
I was actually very hopeful when I realized that we were kind of in a teen transitional
housing situation because I was hoping to maybe get a little more depth to some of our
characters.
Yeah, I felt like it missed.
what I mean. Like it could have been really good and then it was disappointing. Yeah, that felt like
to very, I don't know, like I said, I was ready for something a little bit different. I feel like
that was a bit of a missed opportunity. The tone definitely felt a little different. It felt
um, potty humor. Yeah, there was a lot of potty humor, a lot of silly kind of, but you know,
there wasn't, I guess, so much horny teen either. So we went from horny teens to body humor. I don't
know if there was anything that really.
stood out. Like I said, I was really hopeful when I realized this new setting we were in,
and I feel like that was a little bit missed, to be honest. I wanted to get to know these characters
a little bit better, and I didn't exactly feel like there were a lot of, like, really creative
kills, which is usually super fun here. The only one that is really sticking out to me was the
flare. Yeah. Flare mouth. That one was fun. Is that what that's called a flare? I think it is.
Yeah, flare gun. Fleer gun. Um, I'm proud that I called that it was a paramet
because I said in the beginning.
I thought you were crazy with those paramedics.
I thought you were insane when you said that, but I was totally wrong.
I guess maybe the campiness of this one, like you said too, it felt it felt like the direction
was maybe very different and it felt to me pretty intentional with a lot of those holds.
You know what I mean?
Man, I wonder if we're going to get roasted for this.
I wonder if everybody loves it.
There's no way.
It just, yeah, again, like, it's very, like, what, 1985, too?
There were some, like, stereotypy things about, like, troubled kids that kind of sucked and, like, our first victim, you know, I think that it was definitely maybe hinted at that he was neurodivergent, we could say.
I don't, yeah.
I literally just Googled, why is Friday the 13th part five bad?
Um, I just, the acting was so bad.
Yeah, it felt like, and even like the point of the, because I felt like it could be good.
It made me, I was really excited to kind of get an adult look at Tommy and how the effects of his trauma, you know?
Right.
Yeah.
And I thought that that was going to be really fun to explore.
But then like we had the character that got killed in the beginning.
And then also the neighbors, the neighbor characters were just like the hillbillies.
it was just like way too over the top.
And I feel like the acting in these has never been like, oh, it's incredible.
It's so good, you know?
But it's like it at least wasn't like cartoony.
Yes.
Agreed.
Yeah.
Like it literally, it felt like I said at one point it felt like a parody of itself.
And also it felt like it felt like a scary movie or something.
Yeah.
But I genuinely thought it was like.
It's to the script also though, because there was some, there was some tough lines.
The script was awful.
Yeah.
Poor Pam.
Yeah.
I wonder who Pam knew to get that role.
Is Pam married to a producer?
She's so pretty.
Is she married to a producer?
Wait, but is it a different director?
Yeah, hold on.
Oh, yeah, it's Danny Steinman.
Okay.
So was it somebody else for the first?
Oh, so this is interesting.
Paramount Pictures routinely hired a new filmmaker for each installment to keep production
fresh and fast moving.
Well, this one.
definitely felt. So we like
Joseph Zito. Okay.
That's who. That was four? That was four. Yeah, this made
me feel pretty solid in that three and four
definitely my top runners. Oh my God. Wait,
listen to this. Apparently, Danny Steinman had a
background in exploitation and softcore adult
films, which influenced the movies'
tone and why it's different. It did feel like the boobs were
like just boobin for boobs. They were sometimes too. They weren't
Even like sex boobs or sexy boobs?
There were just boobs.
There were two scenes where women just stood in the mirror, topless.
Yeah.
For no reason.
Just for no reason.
They were just boobin for boobs.
They're just boobin just to have boobs.
Yeah, because I'm trying to think of why in the earlier movies it hasn't bothered me.
But in this one, it's really bothering me.
Because they're not behaving.
You know what?
Sorry, I figured it out.
Go ahead.
It's because they're not behaving realistically.
Yes, I agreed.
Yeah.
Time to go home.
I'm going to go party.
I'm going to go party.
What?
Yeah, there was a lot of inner monologue verbalized.
Oh, my God, the writing was so fucking bad.
Yeah, I mean, again, like I kind of, I was excited, like you said, for a little bit more of like, let's deal with this childhood trauma from Tommy II.
But instead, we just had another kid around, and I'm not really sure why.
Yeah, and then, wait, also, I thought the whole time that it was going to be Tommy, and then, okay, it was the paramedic, like, fine, it's a copycat.
But then why make us think that it's Tommy the whole time and then at the very end be like, and also Tommy?
Yeah.
And also him, he also going to kill you.
Because maybe Tommy's going to have to be the killer in the next one.
He has to be, right?
I guess, but I just didn't think, like, the twist of it being the mom was fun.
Mm-hmm.
Like, that was good, but this twist felt, it felt like, four.
I don't know.
Yeah, it was weird.
Let's make it different.
I take hydration pretty serious because I've worked out.
But lately, my wife might actually be taking it more serious than me.
Without getting into all her personal business, she's been in a situation where her doctors
have really emphasized staying on top of her fluids.
So I'm constantly filling up her giant water jug.
And electrolytes are a big part of her routine, too.
So yeah, our house has become an element distribution center.
And that's actually what I like about.
Prenounce element, not element.
This isn't just gym bro stuff, okay?
If you're sweating from like a workout, spending like a ton of time in the heat, fasting,
or you're somebody who really needs to stay on top of hydration,
electrolytes can be a big part of that equation.
I'll tell you what, but there are like a million electrolyte products now,
so why element?
Well, one of these sticks gives you 1,000 milligrams of sodium,
200 milligrams of potassium, and 60 milligrams of magnesium.
And there's zero sugar.
and no artificial colors
and that's what wins this guy over.
So why now I'm reaching for electrolytes,
I want the electrolytes to actually be the point.
You can go to drink element.com
and with any purchase,
you'll get a free eight-count sample pack
of elements most popular drink mix flavors.
Try them, find your favorite,
and if you're not satisfied,
they'll take care of you.
Take a little bucks.
Seriously, they're great.
And which will I'm the...
Ooh, that's a tough one.
Pineapple.
Pineapple, my damn.
I thought it was bad.
we get into some questions. Yeah. Yes. Please. Stephanie Brie says. What are your thoughts on the
copycat, Jason, I'm sorry, one more time. What were your thoughts on the copycat Jason,
killing random folks who were not connected to this halfway house or Crystal Lake at all?
Also, were there any characters you were sad to see meet their demise in any of the films,
including this one up to this point? Yeah, I guess it did. That's kind of a good point,
Stephanie. It did feel very disconnected because it was not related to Jason. Yeah.
Which almost would have made a little more sense or Crystal Lake really at all.
It really had to do with that first kill.
I mean, yeah.
With the kid.
With the kid because it was his son.
Yeah, because then what's the point of that whole monologue that he gives to Pam at the end where he's like, he killed them because it was his son?
Then why did he kill those two at the diner?
That makes no sense.
Right, right.
And like the neighbor.
That makes no sense.
And the mom, yeah.
Yeah.
That doesn't make any sense.
It just didn't feel it.
Yeah, why?
Why?
Why?
And that's what my thought was too, is like how ironic that this murder happened in daylight, the first day that Tommy arrives.
Yeah.
Which is, I think, again, just kind of trying to lead us down the path of believing that it's Tommy the whole time.
Also, the tone of, like, seeing, like, when all the kids were, like, standing outside.
like after he got hacked.
Yeah.
I don't know.
It was weird.
Yeah, it was weird.
Is there anybody you were still thinking about their death that makes you say that?
I'm the mom from the last one.
The mom from the last one.
Even though we never even saw that one, but it could still make you sad.
It makes me sad.
I still think about the poor guy in the wheelchair all the time.
Oh.
Going backwards down the steps after he got stabbed.
That was a tough one.
I think he even got it in the head and then backwards down the steps.
And I'll always be sad about Kevin Baking.
because I love Bacon, but I do think he had a cool one.
I'm trying to remember.
I can't remember any of the character's names from, like, the first.
That's okay.
Tell us who their memorable facts about it.
The projector guy, too.
Also, the girl, oh, the projector guy was kind of a dick, though.
Yeah, he was kind of a dick.
I mean, it was a creative kill, though.
It was a creative.
Which this movie just felt like it was kind of lacking in.
Yeah.
Why the eyes?
Because he was paramedic, maybe.
Because they just watched, I don't know.
Oh
No but I shouldn't have
Like they should have watched
In their son
Yeah
They should have put that in there
Oh Jackie
Why didn't you write this movie?
I'm sorry
Hold on
I'm like
Friday the same characters
Hold on hold on
Sometimes I wish
that the editors
would cut this part out
When I'm like confused
Did they know it?
No
Cut out all my great jokes
No one time
They left in a part
Where we called Alex
Really?
Yes
That's amazing
Well Alex is a part of this
Honestly
Yeah all the characters in two
I feel like it made me sad
Because they were really nice
Is there anyone that pissed me off in two
I don't remember I feel like no
Anyways
Yeah I'm mostly really sad about the mom
And also the psych student
Yeah she died right
She did eventually
She was the final girl
And then she died at the beginning
in the next one
Oh, that was sad.
I'm mostly sad about the mom from the last one and the girlfriend that died in the raft.
Which did also feel a little bit out of character for Jason, too, because he loved his mama.
I know.
It was weird.
It was really weird.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Agreed.
I'm like, this isn't even about Jason.
We have a long way to go.
So maybe we'll be bringing it back.
I want him to come back.
He must.
Okay.
At some point.
Next question.
He's in burglary right now.
Captain Fernandez.
Hi, Captain Fernandez.
This might be my least favorite movie of the series.
Thank you, Captain.
I was like, dear God, if somebody else doesn't say that, we're in trouble.
There are lots of reasons, but other than the twist, I think the sleaze is what really bothers me.
These movies have always been raunchy, but for me, this is the first one that seemed to be straight up exploitation flick.
Yeah.
Did you find the movie sleazy and did it bother you?
Yeah.
we did touch on that a little bit.
I mean, also the way that, like, I felt like the way that the camera was directed to, like,
it was directed to focus on the breasts.
Yeah.
Like, I feel like we were looking at those women's breasts more than we were looking at their faces.
But I also didn't feel like there was as much, like, every other one has had, like, horny teens.
But this one's felt silly and potty humor, too, which maybe made those, like, moments feel even more, like,
exploit instead of, I think so.
And also, like.
the storyline.
Yeah, it's like when it's horny teens, it's like, oh, there are a couple and they're in,
a young couple in love, and they're doing it, and it's their choice.
Right.
But this felt like unnatural and, like, I can definitely tell that he was a porn director.
I mean, Jesus Christ, like, it's glaringly obvious.
Yeah.
And I think that that's what makes the difference is that maybe Paramount felt like, oh,
let's put the porn director on it because these movies are so raunchy and it's like,
but they were kind of like, that's what the people want, right?
They were tastefully raunchy before.
And this one, it was like...
They were fun raunchy instead of icky.
Yeah.
It felt like the director thought that the heads of the woman were connected to the breasts rather than the other way around.
It was just like full on like the breast the whole time.
Like she's at work in a button up only and she's not wearing a bra.
Or the girl that just laid around totally naked on a blanket in the woods rolling around.
I was like, like you would be concerned of some bugs.
Yeah.
yeah no it felt people are not interested in protecting their orifices at all I think I kept thinking
like sometimes when it was showing the breasts I was like oh it's going to be like a kill where they
get stabbed like through or something and then it was like they get stabbed somewhere else yeah and I'm
like so you're just showing the breasts yeah like just show the breasts and her eyes get
gouged out yeah oh my god oh I can imagine if I was in high school when this came out and like
I went to go see it with a guy on like a second or third date and based off of his reaction,
I would have dumped his ass.
Oh, a little test movie.
I love it.
Oh, anyways.
Slush-o.
Hi, slush.
Hi, Sush.
Hi, PJ.
Oh, I like PJ.
That's cute.
We could be PJ.
Private Jets.
Imagine if Jason.
I was thinking pajamas.
Oh, really?
Imagine if Jason hasn't happened at all in what scenario from part one to part five would
guys I think it's supposed to be want to be in.
Ooh.
In what scenario?
I want to be, I want to be in the second movie.
They were having fun.
They were going to the bar.
Yeah, that was a fun one.
That was a fun one.
I wouldn't want to be in the third one.
Why?
I love that one.
Because that guy annoyed me.
I would be on vacation.
No, I don't want to be on vacation with that annoying guy.
Who?
The pudgy guy?
Yeah.
Yeah, he was a little annoyed.
He was really in a little.
Yeah, he was not very good to the women either when he got.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then I don't want to be in the fourth because the women were, you know, going after each other's boyfriends and stuff.
And then the boyfriends also sucked.
Like there wasn't really a guy in that one that was like.
Well, the back to the future, dad.
Remember he said?
No, he was also knowing he stole panties.
He was like, where's the corkscrew?
The corkscrew!
Yes!
I still think I'd be in three, but I'd be in the biker gang.
It's me.
Vincent Cole. Hey Vincent. Hey, Jackie and Paige.
This is the first movie to bring over the character from the last movie and have them basically be the main character again.
Yes.
Did you like the idea of having the main character through multiple movies or do you prefer having a completely new cast each time?
I mean, I would have enjoyed it had there not been, it felt like there was a lot of like, and I know it was supposed to be him seeing Jason and stuff, but there was a lot of like,
fantasy sequences for him that also felt confusing.
And again, like, I don't really know.
I wish that it had just been him as the killer if we were going to see him then become a
killer at the end.
Yeah, I agree.
Right?
Yeah.
Because then why add in the it being a medic storyline?
Like, I think you've got to choose.
Again, like we were very hopeful, I think, for the premise of this for getting a grown-up
Tommy and seeing how he would be dealing.
with this trauma
but yeah
I didn't mind him being there
I just wish that it had kind of gone
a different direction
it was very weird that
then at the end he just decided to kill Pam
yeah because it felt really lazy because it's like
at the end when you find out that it wasn't him
the whole time you're like wow like good for Tommy
I can't believe that I thought that he would have done that
right and it's like just kidding he's gonna
and it's like you made it back far
so like what's the why not like
Like, it makes, I don't know, made me mad.
Also, I like the new cast stuff.
I just will say with this cast, I really didn't care about any of the characters.
Well, they did not let us get to know much about any of them.
No.
And again, that's where I thought we were going to be coming in from instead of just a group of campers or camp counselors or kids on vacation.
I thought we were going to get a little meat to these characters, but I didn't even hear Vye's name until she was nearly dead.
Yeah.
You know?
No, we, I know.
The movie felt like, it felt really short, but also like so long because, like, all of it was filled with bad acting, a bad script, and boobs.
Lots of boobs.
Well, and you said, too, the pacing at the beginning was pretty slow.
It was as well.
And just really weird.
And the kills weren't fun.
Yeah, there was nothing that, I mean, the flare gun is the only one that I don't even.
And I guess, like, seeing the body on the spikes, like, was fine.
And why are all the kill's eyes?
I don't understand.
Like make it make, like, why?
Well, the two in the woods were eyes.
Were there more than the two of them?
There were three eyes.
The girl?
Grandpa.
Oh, grandpa's eyes, too.
That's right.
Oh, wait, to go back to, um...
All right.
Jaden Road says, this movie is notoriously hated on because of the ending where it hasn't been
Jason all along.
I'll definitely say I'm not the biggest fan of it,
but I have come around in the last few years about it.
I'm curious how y'all feel about it.
hated it. Yeah, we've, we've, we've, we've got there, Jaden. We don't love it. Because we don't have
much to discuss because it was bad. Yeah, I just don't. There's nothing that really, I'm so sad to say that
I feel like there were some very missed opportunities. Well, what I will say is that now that I
know that Paramount would switch up the director a lot and I know that that director doesn't come
back, I'm like, thank fucking God. Yeah. Thank God. Because I have hope that that it'll be good, you know,
that it's going to come back and they can get the magic back.
Do people like it?
I'm accidentally on photos.
La la la.
Negative reviews.
Good.
12%?
Oh, my God.
It has 12% approval.
Oh, my God.
Wow.
Wow, it's still grossed a lot of money.
Yeah, because these got, these definitely got people in the seats, you know?
Wait, also, I just remembered something else.
I was so excited because I thought it was going to.
be a zombie because of the beginning. Oh, that would have, yeah, that would have been cool. We have to be
headed that way. We have to, right? Because like, then when they cut the paramedic open, I thought it
was, like, zombie for a second. I thought it was zombie Jason. I don't know. I'm really upset.
It was just bad. It wasn't fun. And I was so excited. I know. I was too, girl. I was too.
Daniel Gehien. Hi, Daniel says, why is demons?
baby the best song in slasher movie history because it's awesome why jackey why because it was really because i'll tell you why
because demon and his girlfriend you know they really loved each other and she was there she was
pranking but also like she was ready to like she started also she started singing yeah they had a playful
relationship right a playful relationship and she was like that's my man like he had those gas station
enchiladas and i'm gonna sing to him i'm gonna sing those enchilas right out because they know
Because I know he's shy, so I'll sing.
And that's what love is.
Why?
What was the purpose of demons' whole storyline?
And why the hell was his name, Demon?
Just to make it Demon.
He was so lovely.
I know he was really lovely.
Demon.
He just wanted to spend time with his little brother and his girl.
Demo.
That was weird.
It was weird that Pam was there with them too in the van for a little while.
It was weird.
because she's supervising, yeah, but then why not, like, drop him off and come back?
I thought that's what she was going to do was drop him off and then she just hung out with him.
Okay.
Oh, Jay Rushden.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, Jay.
Go ahead.
That's you, Mama.
What reject would make a great screamer in the movie?
Jay, what are you trying to get at?
He means, like, who'd be a good actor, I think, but I know it sounds kind of dirty.
It sounds dirty, Jay.
It sounds dirty, Jay.
I mean, we've already been dirty.
Jackie probably scream the most.
I do scream.
Yeah.
Ice cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.
We all scream for ice cream.
Probably, I'm going to say me.
And also Tara.
Yeah.
Tara,
Tara tends to like yell, though.
No, yeah, it's not a scream.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, no.
She gets a little angry and yells.
What about of the guys?
I don't know.
I haven't seen any of them scream.
Little John.
Does Lil John scream?
I feel like he has a scream within him.
Okay.
A scream he is not yet scrumped.
Let's try to scare him.
Yeah.
I still want to do, I want to make a TikTok and do the Michael challenge where one of us
wears a mask.
This is a different movie.
Different movie, but I want to do it.
They wear the mask and you see if you could unlock the door in time.
Have you seen those on like TikTok?
No, that sounds horrifying.
I know.
It's like making my heartbeat.
I was just thinking we could hide under the table sometime when he's filming.
Yeah, let's do it.
When he's filming.
Okay.
We have some trivia from Slushol.
This movie had an alternate ending where at the end they will show Mr. Vorhees at the cemetery,
paying a visit to Jason's grave while watching with anger.
That camera cuts on his angry eyes.
This was cut because they didn't want to repeat the idea again of a different imposter.
Interesting.
I think they should have cut the whole movie.
How would we have known that it was Mr. Voorhees?
We don't know anything about Jason's father, right?
Yeah.
Are they referring to Jason as much?
I am very curious now if six is going to be Tommy, another imposter, a zombie.
Is Mr. Voge's, I think, is he referring to Jason?
That's John G. Forhees.
John G. Forhees of the Air Force.
Terry Vorhees dies at 64.
Rest in peace.
Rest in peace, Terry.
Everyone go look up Mr. Voorhees.
Where are all these Jason bongs coming up?
Jason-themed.
bombs. This is really funny. Mr. Borhe's
glass. Okay. Anyways, that's all for us today, guys. We'll see you next time. Hopefully the next
one's good. Please tell me it's going to be a zombie. It's going to be better. It's going to be
better. All right. But wait, what's your vote before we go? You think it's going to be Tommy?
Zombie Jason or another imposter? It better be zombie Jason or I'm going to flip the table.
I hope it's Tommy, actually. I think he needs to play this out for some childhood trauma,
exposure, get through things.
It's no, because that's still an imposter.
I want to go back to Jason.
I want it to be Jason.
An imposter from a completely different storyline that has nothing to do with any of this.
All right.
Bye.
Bye.
