I believe that Friday 13th is now on Thursdays. Okay, cool. I don't know if that's true, though. Probably Thriller, Thriller Thursday, maybe. But then we got confused. We're like, is it going to be Friday? And then it's thoroughly Thursday. You guys, tell us what day of the week it is. Yeah, you tell us.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Come on now. Help us out. You ready for this? Yeah. Yeah. Why not? I'm ready. All right, guys.
Starting point is 00:01:47 I love it. Friday the 13th, the sixth one. Jason lives. I think the best one yet. I absolutely agree. They found their stride. Yep. I agree.
Starting point is 00:02:02 I think if we keep on going with, I forget his name, but written and directed by same guy, if we keep that going, I'm on board, baby. They're moving and grooving. Yeah, I agree. I mean, we got to finally, we asked, we wanted to see the kills. It was so awesome when he turns that girl's head around and then he rips it off that he's walking with her body. I mean, there's tons more than that, but it's great.
Starting point is 00:02:25 And then his head gets with the propeller kill. That was awesome. So so many things to discuss, but before we do any of that, please don't forget, if you're on Apple, Spotify, 5 stars, leave a comment, like, all of that stuff. Also, if you haven't gone over to Rejectnationshop.com, we have sick merch over there and keep an eye peeled because, or two eyes peeled. We have more things coming. Tara and I are working our little booties off to bring you guys really great stuff. We are. I'm so grateful that people are sending us their style.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Viling videos with these, all the videos with the sweaters because they look sick. We, I will be honest with the people right now. For our next merch item, we ordered samples because we want to sample everything to make sure it's perfect. And we're like, no, these samples are not high enough quality. Right. So we're now going through different manufacturers, picking the best quality just like this, what we did with here.
Starting point is 00:03:22 We want you guys to love everything we do. So we are ourselves testing everything through thoroughly. So you guys who are loving this, thank you for noticing the quality. It's really there. We want that standard to stay so that you'll buy everything we make. Or a thing. That's what the she jigs be doing. Also, go and check out our social media.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Real Rejects. We are putting a bunch of different stuff from every single one of us there on the Instagram and on the TikTok. Okay, let's discuss this one. Let me tell you my number one quam, which I'm sure you already know and I'm sure you already feel. This is my favorite movie of the franchise so far. However, it does, like, straight up negate the last movie, which is fine because we use a different actor, but, like, why call it the sixth one that, you know? Yeah. It just felt, that felt interesting.
Starting point is 00:04:14 And maybe some people are like, well, that was because this is in the 80s. It's different. That's not what they, like, it meant to be a sequel at the time. And also, maybe they did explain and I missed it with my audio debacle, like, maybe that was him. And he did kill somebody. But, like, that doesn't line up with the character that we saw. So we've now seen three different Tommies, and I'm like, which one was this Tommy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:36 And we know he was the first Tommy also was this Tommy. Right. But the second Tommy wasn't this Tommy. It doesn't feel like. It feels like that wasn't real. Right. Sort of like we just threw that movie out. Yeah, and I'm okay with that.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Yeah. But I don't know that maybe just call this Friday the 13th. The Friday, Jason lives. Jason lives. instead of yeah and not have reference to anything for the past or whatever yeah how are you feeling i like it i do agree with um what you were saying i thought one of your other qualms was going to be the the blonde girl except at the end she got a little bit better we gave her stuff to do dude we did we gave her busy work and in the water and all that stuff and she became more natural
Starting point is 00:05:16 but i think imagine me or you being cast in this right and it depends on the direction but like if you're all of a sudden are bringing one thing you thinking horror can't be like maybe over the top. Right. Maybe you don't even know what the other people are doing and you're so excited and you're so big
Starting point is 00:05:32 and nobody gives you the note like grounded, dial it back. Because she seemed talented. She just, I don't know where she was. Me neither. And I find it like
Starting point is 00:05:42 maybe that was a direction, a director like you're the, you're the peppy one possibly. But it did feel a little bit. She's floating on top. Everyone else felt a little more grounded than her. Except once we got to the end, I liked that.
Starting point is 00:05:54 I liked that she was our final girl. I liked her move with the, boat. I did, there was still some parts where the brunette, where there is a knife next to a bed that the little girl gave her where I'm like, you're scared. The little blonde girl was like, I found this outside and gave it to the brunette camp counselor. Was she brunette, the one with the piercing eyes? Yeah, I think she was brunette and she had like that curly hair. And I was, I just don't like it when she's scared. The door flinged. open and I'm like there's a knife right by your bed come on uh that that will always bug me
Starting point is 00:06:33 when you don't take a weapon even if it's not a knife anything anything like whatever's around you just literally anything but we did and you know what the last one that there's a reason that director you know is not around anymore it was all this like nudity that was unexplained and not needed and um even though horror nudity and like boobs it kind of it like goes together but what this movie did a really great job of that blew a lot of them the rest of them out of the water it showed us the actual kills that's what we want to see and i realize that more kills more kills less titties if we have to because if you have to get that our rating then we want we want to see the interesting kills exactly we want it to mean what the movie is with this movie doesn't exist to see girls boobs
Starting point is 00:07:19 it exists to see jason killing other people you know his character and i really loved um how we got to see, I think, multiple decapitated heads, especially the one where the girl is, they did it over the head shot and her head's still sitting there and it looked just like the actress. And that was, that's a great prop, like great job on special effects prop department. I just love that we got to see all the kills and I thought that it was really exciting. And we got to explore different places. We weren't just stuck on the campground. We went to the jail in the sheriff's office and we were, we kind of had a car chase with
Starting point is 00:07:56 the Camaro. I like that. They took us different places and I appreciated that because I think one of our complaints was like there was a lot of campground stuff constantly. They did a good job. They did a good job of the balance here and I appreciated that. Reject Nation, some of you guys have been so kind to point out, Greg, you look like you've been getting in better shape lately. And Greg, you look like you've been pointing that out a lot more than we've been pointing that out lately. That's because I've been getting products that have allowed me to casually mention that. But with all that exercise comes a lot of sweat and let's be honest. Nobody wants to smell bad especially when we're in close quarters filming proximity to one another that's why
Starting point is 00:08:30 i've been using the mando products heard a lot about them and i was like please send them my way and as a vegetarian it makes me so happy that they're all natural high quality and man do they get the job done first up the mando whole body there's a little uh hair here ew that's gross the mando whole body deodorant it's safe to use anywhere why wouldn't it be it's deodorant controls odor for up to 72 hours keeps me fresh and feeling confident now my wife finally cuddles with me this next one i really like. The Mando Invisible Cream Deodont Pro Sport. Cream is perfect for intense workouts. Keeps it dry, smelling great without residue. My wife finally holds hands with me in public. This one straight at the shower. The Mando Acidified Cleansing Bar. It's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:09:10 4-1 powerhouse for shampoo, face wash, body wash, and deodorant. It leaves my skin fresh and clean, and my wife finally lets me shower in the same shower she uses. I don't have to go to the hotel anymore. For quick refreshes, the Mando deodorant wipes. Perfect for on the go, gentle on the and my wife finally let me meet the in-laws after using them. And lastly, the Mando Body Wash. Provides a rich latherer and 24-hour odor control. The scent is incredible and leaves my skin smooth. My wife actually calls me by my name in the bedroom now.
Starting point is 00:09:39 If you want to stay fresh and confident, get Mando. You can get $5 off at the Mando's starter pack with code Rejects at shopmando.com. That's 40% off. Trust me, you and everyone around you will appreciate it. You can use code rejects at shopmando.com and get $5 off your starter pack. To stay fresh, everyone. Or did she call me Stephen? That was gross.
Starting point is 00:09:59 That was my father's name. Do you want to hear some trivia? Yeah, let's do it. I was scrolling for some of the answers to our questions. The little girl who keeps having nightmares is called Nancy, which has been interpreted by many fans as a nod to the name of the protagonist and A nightmare on Elm Street, 1984, played by Heather Langenkamp. However, the director, Tom McLaughlin, actually named the little girl after his wife,
Starting point is 00:10:22 Nancy McLaughlin, who plays... Lisbeth in this film. Oh, but she also was having dreams about how did you not see that connection, Mr. Director? I don't know. After becoming a born-again Christian, John Shepard, who stars as Tommy on Friday 13th, The New Beginning,
Starting point is 00:10:40 did not want to reprise the role and it went to Tom Matthews instead. But that's confusing to me because was this the same Tommy then? No, there's no way. It says it was supposed to be the same actor, but then he refused the role because he's Christian. Oh.
Starting point is 00:10:57 So if it was supposed to be the same actor, then it feels like it was supposed to be the same Tommy. Right, which would not make sense. But the end of that movie doesn't totally make sense that. No, because there's no masks in this one at all. What do you mean? There's no taste of what Tommy was before in this movie at all. The blue pickup truck, which Tommy drives in the same,
Starting point is 00:11:15 is the same truck that Pam drives in Friday 13th, the new beginning. Okay, cool. Years after the release of the film, Kevin Williamson told director Tom McLaughlin that this film has a huge influence on him growing up and helped inspire him to write his meta-slasher film scream. Wow!
Starting point is 00:11:33 Makes sense. That's cool. Aside from Alice, who has a minor role in the second film, as well as the starring role in the first film, Tommy Jarvis is the only recurring protagonist in the series, albeit played by three different actors. Okay. Okay. Got it. Yeah. But it is so weird
Starting point is 00:11:49 to me that they tried to cast the same actor that previously cast, because in this, how would that make sense. Exactly. How could we have just done that? Director Tom McLaughlin took home some props from the film, including Jason's tombstone, which sits outside his house, made to look like Jason is buried in his yard and his casket, which sits in his garage.
Starting point is 00:12:08 The DVD box set includes a scene in which he shows off the props at his home and tells of how a city employee refused to enter his yard to read the meter because he thought a body was really buried there. I love this director. That is hysterical. That's great. That's really good. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:28 The first and only film in the series, including New Line Cinema's three Jason films and the 2009 reboot, to feature absolutely no nudity. Although there is one scene, the film was also the lowest earning film in the franchise, though the two factors may not be connected. Wait, this one was the lowest performing? Yeah, it's what I said, lowest earning. What? That's wild. Yeah, that is crazy. The first film in the series, which did not place first at the United States box office during its opening weekend.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Oh, okay. Huh. Bummer. Yeah, that is a bummer. I wonder if it maybe just competed with something else that was really big, because this is a great film. The original script contained material that alluded to Jason's father, which to date remains the closest the series has ever come to shedding some light on a mysterious character. In the script, Pamela's Headstone is next to Jason's, a reference to the fact that someone paid to have Jason buried, explaining why he was not cremated, as the mayor said he was on Friday, 13th, a new beginning.
Starting point is 00:13:36 As well as this, there is a final scene in which Jason's father visits his son's grave, seemingly aware of the fact that Jason is not inside it. These scenes were never filmed, but made it into the film's novelization. 2009 deluxe edition DVD uses story bird art and voiceover work to complete the scene. Oh. That would make sense that how did you pay to have this grave? Right. Daddy.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Okay. So the film made $19 million with a budget of $3 million, marking the first time that a Friday 13th installment did not gross over $20 million and beginning the general decline in the box office returns. This one was great. I feel so bad for it. Me too. I don't get it. I don't get that.
Starting point is 00:14:21 This was the film debut of Tony Goldwyn. Tony Goldwyn is, in fact, the mayor, I mean, not mayor, the president in a scandal, I believe. Let me look and make sure. Yes. Yeah, you're right about that. Okay. Okay. What else can I tell you?
Starting point is 00:14:40 This is the first film in the series in which all teenage roles are played by young adults, none of the actors being teenagers in real life during production. Okay. Jennifer Cook retired from acting after appearing in the movie. Really? Why? I'm not sure. Huh. That is who played Megan.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Which, can I see her? You won't be able to see, but Megan was the daughter, right? Okay. Interesting. I wonder why. Pretty sure Megan was the daughter. Huh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:11 I do not know why. None of this is talking about why part five and six were not connected. I almost want to try to Google it. like Friday the 13th part 5 and part 6 are they both canon let's see yeah is Friday the 13th 5 even canon because it's not really Jason but Roy Burns yep even though it doesn't have a vorhe's doing the killing it's indeed canon the plot of part 5 doesn't make a ton of sense someone killed my boy I better murder them people unrelated to the crime Yeah, because remember it was the cop.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Right. But then it's just the part at the end that's confusing me. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, because the kid has a look on his face after he kills. No, he puts the mask on. Right. Yeah. But he also smiles at the camera.
Starting point is 00:16:07 You remember that? He does like a weird smirk. No, you're talking about four. I'm not talking about five once he's in the... Right, but then even that linked to four. Remember? Because I was like... You're talking about the kid.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I'm talking about... the second actor you're talking about the first actor oh okay okay got you know what I mean with the first actor yes and then in the second actor we see at the very end when he's in the hospital right and the yes that's right I think okay um I don't know but that's what the people are saying yeah you guys if it makes more sense to you let us know kindly please you guys always are yeah Tommy didn't have any masks yeah okay mommy yeah yeah yeah Tommy. Tommy. Tommy. Tom. Tommy. Paul. Paul. Paul. Sheecks. Megan. Sheex. Tara. Tera. Roxie. Shall we go? Yeah, we should go. We love you guys. Later, Rejects.
