Episode highlights include Rachel leaving her fiancé at the altar in the pilot, Ross pining for Rachel as he reveals his ex-wife is pregnant, Joey and Chandler’s hilarious attempts to help Ross move on, Monica dating Paul “the Wine Guy,” Phoebe’s quirky songs like Smelly Cat foreshadowed, and the group’s famous hangouts at Central Perk. Starting point is 00:02:50 None of them is an ugly naked guy across the street. all of you are you know which friend is the best to be you're all Rachel's I guess everybody's a Rachel people love Rachel's Ross is a pretty good friend
Starting point is 00:03:04 Ross is a good friend you know I guess there's got to be one of each character on the team that seems to be how life goes when you're comparing yourselves to friends anyway if you happen to be listening to this in review form on Spotify
Starting point is 00:03:18 the evilist music corporation apparently or Apple or anywhere else. Leave us a little bit of a rating if you could. That'd be very much appreciated. Aron! Jean-Elda! Before we hop into our patron questions, how you feeling?
Starting point is 00:03:35 Are you happy? Are you feeling friendly? I'm happy and I know it. You know what? Oh! I'm going to clap my hands. Yeah, this has been a lot of fun. Honestly, it is one of those shows that has been in the cultural I guys for a long time.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Ten thick years of a friend. thick years 23 weeks a year and you know what we watched the first six here and i am pleasantly surprised to say that it still holds up you know i didn't know how it was going to be watching this show seriously for the first time and what was it came on in 1994 and it's surprisingly mature than i more mature than i thought it was going to be and i feel like just maybe the 90s were a lot more lenient on what they allowed on tv because i feel like not even the stuff that's dated per se but just the type of jokes that they tell are things i feel like would not be as prevalent on just basic cable tv or you know your your basic channel so i was a pleasant
Starting point is 00:04:37 surprise really really funny holds up honestly funnier than some shows that come out today and yeah i really enjoyed it man what about you yeah i mean like this is a testament to like excellent casting and you know sharp fun sitcom scripting like yeah like from the jump pretty much i mean there's a little bit of onboarding as rachel moves in in the first episode and stuff but like they are you can see pretty immediately how these became some of the most beloved characters on tv for you know well over a decade or around a decade anyway uh and uh yeah super fun very funny and yeah like more i don't know exactly how much i expected because like i know they would talk about sex and stuff here and there but yeah like there are certain like you know chanler dating this girl
Starting point is 00:05:28 with like a full on like polly or at least like you know very ingrained non monogamous lifestyle it's like i know all that stuff has existed but you are i am much more accustomed to hearing that disgust on shows now versus back then i'm like oh damn we were doing this then too this crazy Yeah, it's really funny, really charming, and, uh, yeah, I, I am also kind of marveled just by the fact that it, at least as of these first six episodes, it holds up as well as it does. It's like it's very, and I know, you know, certain things as we go along will be dated. Uh, but, you know, that stuff aside, if it's good TV, it's good TV, you know, and that stuff lasts. So, uh, yeah, I'm very chuffed on this initial inaugural experience. Yeah, and I really like how even the first six episode, how well-defined each character is and how different they are from one another. Yeah, 100%.
Starting point is 00:06:26 It creates a great sense of balance and dynamics, especially amongst the group as a whole, but each of the individual relationships as well. And you have a commentary on, like, you know, men versus women and, like, you know, the sexes and their perspectives and how a group that's half men, half women kind of agree and disagree about like certain cultural things especially in the 90s so yeah all that stuff is really great and especially in being in the tone of a comedy played to the key of comedy it makes it thoroughly enjoyable and the fact that they're able to pack in so much story within 22 minutes is also really impressive without it feeling like telling how you were saying earlier it does it without it feeling like too much like they found a great balance and in having all those things six characters and you feel like no one is getting short shrift or overlooked and ever One's, like, distinct, but they all have really good chemistry with each other for both, obviously, the comedy.
Starting point is 00:07:21 But also, you know, the moments where things have to get a little more heartfelt or serious. And, yeah, like, I do Marvel. And it's a whole, you know, school of, you know, thought and writing, you know, the approach to the 22-minute sitcom. And, yeah, I am constantly as somebody who has, who enjoys screenwriting to various degrees and, you know, has studied it some. it's always mystifying to me when yeah you can get a lot done like 20 22 pages doesn't seem like much and yet you can do a lot in that amount of time uh so yeah i'm going to be taking notes as we go but let's hop into our q and a got a lot of responses a lot of enthusiasm from you guys thank you so much uh this just makes this all the more fun and exciting that'll be the clap
Starting point is 00:08:08 every time we have to commit to the bit shouts out sell a myth sanchise no question This Chinda says, Friends! Yay! One of my favorite shows, I am sat, and you'll stay sat. Don't even leave the couch, because we're going to be reacting to the whole show, hopefully, unless this does catastrophically poorly. But thank you for the enthusiasm, really appreciate it. Hunter Preston.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Oh, I'm glad to see y'all watching Friends. I'm glad to see that you saw that we're watching Friends. My mom had this on every chance when I was growing up. I know you're only a few. Epps in but so far who do you think is your favorite character that's a great question that's a tough question too that's tough I like them all but I think I'm tossed between Ross and Chandler I like how endearing and yet innocent Ross is but I like how wired and sarcastic Chandler is yeah I think he's both of those characters I feel like encapsulate aspects of myself so I think I have to go with
Starting point is 00:09:08 them yeah I really like everybody I would say right now my favorite search Chandler and Phoebe. They're both like, you know, Phoebe's kooky. They're both kind of like they're all funny, but you know, like they are of the boys and girls teams, they're the sort of funny
Starting point is 00:09:26 ones. I mean, you know, Joey also funny, but in a different way. They're like the, you know, I like the kookiness of a Phoebe and Lisa Kudrow just has this singular sort of I don't know how to describe it and I mean this as a compliment like a space cadet
Starting point is 00:09:44 kind of quality like she seems kind of like a little uh cosmically detached from things but also like i don't know there's something about her that's that's very charmingly woo-woo kooky she's out there she's also mysterious i think out of the women she's probably my favorite as well yeah and yeah i feel like those three characters to some degree probably encapsulate myself i was going to say yeah well i'll i'll save it actually because i i have a sneaking suspicion that we're going to get the witch friend or you somewhere along this line
Starting point is 00:10:17 thank you Hunter though appreciate the enthusiasm Eric Horstman with the real rejects to two I love you buddy still got to come out and visit you sometime but Eric says this
Starting point is 00:10:32 hey John and Aaron hey yourself excited you're watching one of my faves it's a little dated on some things but it still holds up what's your first impressions of each character and do you have a favorite so far? Chandler is basically me humor-wise. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:10:47 I mean, we just touched on some of our faves. I would say if I had to choose like which character I am actually like, um... Oh, no, you didn't ask that, though. What's your favorite character? I assume that's going to have. Yeah, so far, still, I would say, yeah,
Starting point is 00:11:05 Phoebe and Chandler are the most sort of charming and funny to me, but they're all, you know, lovely. I would say that first impressions, I mean, just, I don't know, everybody is really doing a nice job of playing their respective parts in the dynamic. And I feel like everybody has, this is a show where I'm excited to get, I'm excited when everyone's together and I'm excited for the possibilities of pairing off people. And any pair seems like it has the potential for fun for me right now. so um i mean first impressions uh i'm trying to think if there's a comprehensive way to do this but uh i don't know yeah i i like everybody i find everybody charming i think they've chosen a lot of the right you know little notes you know joey is the ditsy you know ladies man guy and chandler
Starting point is 00:11:58 is the sarcastic funny guy and ross is the you know sweet and sentimental guy and then rachel yeah as you know the the rich girl trying to make it on her own and monica is the control freak and phoebe is the you know hippie uh you know and i like the way they embody all those types and i think that yeah they're again cornering of the it's like a comedy pie chart and everyone's like bringing their piece in a really nice way for me so far but how do you feel yeah no i would i would say the same i think that you have the characters that are most wrestling Isn't it to me? It's my favorites to watch are Chandler, our Ross, and our Phoebe.
Starting point is 00:12:40 The Phoebe's just mysteriousness with how she's able to handle conflict and breakups. And then how she just comes across money and just like, oh, what do I do with this money? Yeah. Yeah, that whole gag is so funny. That was so awesome. And then Chandler with the cigarettes. And then with the expressos, it was like, he's, yeah, he's that guy who is sarcastic, but still has a heart of gold at the end of the day, which I really appreciate. um yeah and and rachel trying to navigate the world is very funny and then you have this puppy dog
Starting point is 00:13:11 of ross who you know he's still not over his ex but he's also into rachel and it's just really sweet to watch and i really enjoy all the characters and monica's fun too and i just feel so bad for her and her her not conflict with her parents but the fact that her parents don't like her and love ross and i'm curious to see if like we get further developments on that and you know how each of these characters grow over the course of time but yeah i'm very endeared to to all of them and all of their different dynamics and yeah i think it's it's just fun it's just a really fun show and you don't really get a friend groups like this yeah in real life grand i feel like in yeah maybe this is a thing in like the i think they're all in 20s or like maybe they might they got to be they got to be in the
Starting point is 00:13:57 20s so yeah you know they're all hanging out all the time in the in their coffee shop and in their apartments it's a beautiful thing two of them they live next door to each other it's like the friend fantasy yeah and i always get the impression i i don't i haven't locked the geography just yet but i'm like do you just live above central part do you just like your neighbors and then you just go downstairs hang out the coffee shop and then you go out of the town and you're just like always hanging i kind of got that impression because joey was counting the steps and i'm like it doesn't seem like they're lived that far yeah he says it's less than 100 steps from their apartment so yeah it's like if They don't live on top of it.
Starting point is 00:14:32 They must at least live like, you know, yeah, a door or two down. Yeah. It's very fun. It's open and like, seems like all hours of the day. Like, we go in at the nighttime, going on the morning. I miss a coffee shop. I miss an all-night coffee shop, man. There used to be a couple around these parts where they would at least be open to like midnight
Starting point is 00:14:49 3 a.m. When I was like in my college days, yeah, I would be up late fucking trying to study in the, you know, drinking Java at the Groundwire Cafe. But yeah, the only person I'm waiting to. get more of a specific game for is monica i think yeah it's like everybody so far has like a thing that they are very much sort of or that comes with their character you know like oh yeah ross is dealing with this situation with his ex uh you know fiancee wife uh and you know chanler has had smoking and these dating things and uh and yeah joey is acting and whatnot rachel obviously has i
Starting point is 00:15:29 think the biggest one, which is her just acclimating to, you know, self-sufficiency. And then Phoebe, you know, is always, yeah, in some kind of random whimsy. So, yeah, I'm waiting for, for like a real monica-centric conflict or game or storyline. But, yeah, everyone's been really charming so far. And I appreciate you chiming in, Eric. Love you very much. All righty. Adam and Rachel White.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Hi, John and Aaron. Hi, you. Hi to both of you. My wife, Rachel, look out now, loves friends, and we'll get a huge kick out of you reading this comment because I am not telling her I'm sending it. Hell yeah, my man. What did you think of the first six episodes? What do you think of the modern view that it's a very white series and not diverse? I know, that lady was white and she was dressed like, she was in like traditional African. hat like it was very fascinating interesting very interesting casting there i had a couple of black people in the background and we she has our black co-worker that's it's funny having heard this take before this assessment i should say uh i was sort of like oh there are some you know people of color on screen even if they're not in the friend group um i never really noticed this until it was pointed out but it is still a fantastic series and some fabulous guest stars to come as you go through thanks for all the great videos and hope you guys are keeping well we are doing our best it has been a you know very colorful time here at the studio but uh lots of good in there um yeah i mean in terms of the modern view i'm definitely curious to see as we progress um and i you know i'm sort of prepared for the idea that this will be a pretty like white show so to speak but uh how are you feeling about this uh well i i I knew this kind of going in, and, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:31 living single is like the black version of friends. Oh, okay. I'm going to start watching it. I'm going to come in with my, yeah, I'm going to re-contextualize my whole personality based off a living single. And whenever anybody brings up friends in a conversation, I'll just pretend I don't know and I'll start talking about those characters instead. Then you come in with your HOTAB outfit for the next friends.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Yeah, get ready for John T. it's coming content please i'm still fascinated by that i'm like i guess new york in the 90s like you would just have people appropriating their outfits more frequently possibly or you could develop a headcan and maybe she was adopted by a black family you could she's a black husband we don't know new york is a very diverse place it's very true i mean you wouldn't see that from the show but like you might not notice i was going to say monica has a black co-worker yeah she got some lines we'll have to come we're gonna have to start counting all the black people i've kind of too so far
Starting point is 00:18:34 okay we'll have a black people counter going for uh yeah i mean you know certain certain themes and certain things are going to be universal but yes uh have you seen living single like is the are the flavors very different i'll be honest i just know from cultural osmosis that wow because there's a movie He called the blackening, right? I want to see it. It's great, but I'm just going to spoil one joke from that movie. And one of the things, there's like a board game in it. And they're like, how many black people are in friends?
Starting point is 00:19:06 And then the group of people are all trying to solve the question. And then this one guy comes up the answer is like, I think three. And then the buzzer goes, and that's incorrect. I didn't watch that shit. I watched Living Single. Oh, that's funny. So I would love to watch Living Single one day. But to answer your question, I feel like.
Starting point is 00:19:25 lot of popular sitcoms up until we get to the point of like 2000 it's like the new renaissance of black sitcoms we're primarily white so and i feel like just with the the the history of television i feel like we've culturally been sort of trained to not really notice it's like yeah it feels like most shows are predominantly predominantly white until we start getting more inclusion but you know i will say for that to still be present it's not something that's constantly distracting me because I think the characters themselves are not based upon their race but based upon their experiences their interpersonal relationships so I'm still invested in it would it be nice to see more people of color more representative of my experience sure but I feel
Starting point is 00:20:09 like me is just an empathetic person who just watches a lot of media in general is able to just focus on the heart and intention of what they're trying to do and and I don't feel like it's it's malicious and it's in exclusion But that said, yeah, I notice it, but I'm not, it's not something that's on the forefront of my mind as we're watching it. Good, because it's on the forefront of mine. That's great. I keep sitting here going like, man, if these guys weren't white, I don't know what I would do. I don't know how I'd relate to this shit.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Thank God. No. And I am very, I think it's fun. Like, it can be, people can get up in arms about how things of age. I think it's kind of fun to look at the cultural anthropology of this stuff because, yeah, I would agree. Like, you know, you can take note of these things and I know that somewhere down the line a prominent black actor will join the show somewhere, I think. But yeah, it certainly seems just of it, of the defaults of its time. And again, it's hard to argue that the six people they, you know, assembled to be the core friends.
Starting point is 00:21:21 it's you can't argue that they're not all doing a great job so so yeah um we'll see though i'm excited to keep count and uh shouts out to uh to your like i just you know comment on one of the later ones like what was it like for your wife rachel you know as a friends fan sharing the name of one of the most prominent friends i feel like that's you're either excited about that or you know you become the the topic of a lot of you know like ah you know jokes and up but thank you guys for chiming in shouts out to the both of you and thanks for chatting
Starting point is 00:21:55 all right hope thank you for the comment friends oh I'm so sad is that a thing people say people say they're sat dude I gotta learn the new kids slang I also say things like aura and aura farming and six seven
Starting point is 00:22:11 which is like a reference to a song but a lot of the kids say it no cap also no cap dead ass dead ass for real there's a lot of things that kids say these days. But those are just a few. Mango tango, Ben, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Sure, yep. That's definitely one. The slang moves so fast. It really does. Thank you, though, for the enthusiasm. That was not very good. That was good. There you go. Daphmer.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Hello, John and Aaron. Hello to you. I hope you both are doing well. We are, I would say. Friends was one of my favorite shows when it aired, and I remember it being such a huge phenomenon for broadcast telly do you both do the both of you feel there will ever be another friends at fraser or signfeld-like show at the level those shows were at well my friends growing up was hi met your mother yeah that was my show in my era and that feels like the last time we got one to this degree yeah for sure and it's interesting watching this after watching a show like that because they're totally different even though there were obviously two shows about two friend groups and I'd be curious to go back and watch how I met your mother after this yeah it got I mean that was when I was watching it
Starting point is 00:23:31 every friends fan I knew at least at some point I had to be like it's basically friends you know but it's different it's different but yeah but it certainly has it's in that mold you know though it has a lot of its own nuances and I like much of how I met your mother most of that show yeah a lot of it anyway um yeah i don't know though in the age of streaming and stuff it you know network tv still exists and sitcoms still exist i wonder though i like never say never i'm sure it'll happen but uh it does feel like we just experience and interact with this media a bit differently now and yeah i'm i don't know i mean i i feel like at some point it's bound to happen but i don't know where it would come from or how
Starting point is 00:24:19 I have a hot take, kind of. Let's hear. I feel the age of the laugh track multicam sitcom might be dead. You know? Largely. I mean, I'm not saying they don't make them, but I don't know if we ever have a popular show like a friend or like how I met your mother again. I feel like it's the age of like the mockumentary, like, you know, like the office or Abbott Elementary. I feel like that's the kind of the age where people are like, this is the comedy of the time, you know?
Starting point is 00:24:46 Yeah, totally. So, like, yeah, different stuff arises because, I mean... I'll say Big Bang Theory is probably the last, like, group comedy. That's right. I didn't really watch that show, but I know that a lot of people loved it. And, yeah, I think, like, Big Bang Theory, how much your mother, modern family, those are, like, the 2010s big comedies. And I feel like Abbott Elementary. And that's the only one that's coming to mind at the moment.
Starting point is 00:25:13 But, you know, they just brought back the paper. I mean, they brought back the Spanof of the Office. So that's the thing. are making more episodes, I guess. So that's the thing. And, oh, God, one just popped into my mind. That's currently on. A sitcom, damn.
Starting point is 00:25:30 I don't know if it's currently on, but it is recent. You said Big Bang Theory. And then it'll come to me. Young Sheldon? No. I don't watch that show yet. Oh, God, it's going to kill me now. Let's look at the biggest recent sitcoms real quick.
Starting point is 00:25:48 uh yeah because it's a good place there you go i would love to react to the good place yeah same i want to watch it so bad i feel like the good place schitz creek got a pretty big i was actually surprised because i remember uh you know my fam in general has long been you know fans of the whole cluster of christopher guest people so that's katherine hera and eugene levy and yada yada so like i had seen shits creek before that or parts of it before that like popped off um i never one I never saw it, but I always wanted to. Also, a show that's a classic, and I feel like people remember it more fondly
Starting point is 00:26:24 than when it was actually on this community. Sure. And they're going to eventually make that movie, because it says six seasons in a movie, and it's happening at some point eventually. But, yeah, I don't know if we're going to get another traditional sitcom, like how we have kind of grown to accustomed to over the decades. Okay, here we go, new sitcom idea.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Hit me. It's called Black Friends. Beautiful. And every character from, friends had one black friend and they all get together and become a friend group. They form their own group. And then it's the same show, but everyone's black. I think it would be a good show.
Starting point is 00:26:57 That would be a good show. But I would be very curious to hear some takes on this because, yeah, I hadn't thought of it. But it's a fascinating moment for all, you know, visual, audio, visual, entertainment, media, movies, television shows, streaming, all that stuff. And it does feel like we are at a point in time. where stuff might not ever be quite as we remember it. You know, it's like for a couple, you know, for decades there have been these molds that ebb and flow
Starting point is 00:27:27 and different shows arise that, you know, take the top mantle or whatever. But I don't know, something structurally feels like it's changing or is different. Starting point is 00:29:00 hello fresh and back to the video terra oh la terra friends hi john and aaron hello thank you for chiming into the convo i'm so excited to rewatch friends with you i like too this is like people rewatch this show like every couple years as I feel. Yeah, it's like it's a major comfort show. We could do this first reaction and then just go and react to it all over again. Yeah. And be like, we're doing a rewind.
Starting point is 00:29:25 We'll react to us reacting to the other friends episodes that we watched. Yeah. While also watching the episode next to us. We'll start doing those commentary tracks of our own reactions and the episodes. I think it's good. It's super meta with it. What do you think of the chemistry between the cast? They've said it was like catching lightning in a bottle.
Starting point is 00:29:46 Ah. Here, here, I can't imagine what the show would have been like if even just one actor was cast differently. What do you think of each character? I can't wait to follow as you watch their journeys over the course of the show. Golly, agree. Lightning and a bottle for sure. I mean, even like I said, off the top, off the first episode, I could already kind of sense like, oh yeah, knowing how long the show went. And I know that not everything stays great for its duration, but, you know, this is a beloved show for a reason.
Starting point is 00:30:20 And, yeah, the chemistry is they feel like they've been friends forever, you know. Yeah. And then obviously the inception point is Rachel joining that friend group. Yeah. But, yeah, I like that. We don't pick up with them all meeting, but we're kind of brought into the fold as Rachel's brought into the fold. Yeah. And continue on with our journeys of who knows how long they've been friends.
Starting point is 00:30:41 I know, well, I think that the girls have been friends for, like, a long time. since, like, middle school. Yeah. It's what kind of sounds like. It's like, what is it? Monica and Rachel knew each other in school. Rachel's... Or Monica's Ross's brother, so they would have known each other.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Their whole lives. And then, yeah, you're... I don't know. I'm trying to remember if we got any other context clues for the boys. I don't think we have... And for Phoebe. It's not as of yet. But, yeah, I think each of the cast is great in their own right.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Joey is a lovable dummy. Scamp. He's a little young, a young scamp, a young lad. If they cast Al Pacino as Joey, I think it would have been great. Yeah, you know, just a lot of hoorah! Newha! Every time he enters the room. And then, in the shower scene, he would have a great ass!
Starting point is 00:31:32 Oh, wow. I'm surprised that other of us said that in the reaction. I know. I totally missed opportunity. Damn. Go watch a heat reaction. I might just record a phone video and be like, hey, insert this here. you're like shit that would have been the perfect riff
Starting point is 00:31:50 oh man but yeah i think that everybody has a really fun sort of energy to them like dross you know him being uh just like the do-eyed kind of inexperienced guy than in a different sense rachel's kind of super inexperienced with the world phoebe is just the mysterious hippie shaman of conflict and luck coming into her life I think
Starting point is 00:32:16 yeah kind of how similar sentiments of John I think Monica's the only one doesn't feel like super defined as of yet I feel like we're starting to get defined character traits with you know her relationship with her mother and father and then also the thing about her being a control freak is really fun and interesting
Starting point is 00:32:32 so yeah I think everyone is very fun in their own right and this is just the beginning the fact that we're six episodes in and then there's like what a hundred plus episodes to go. I feel like we're really going to get a sense and development of each of these characters. Because, again, in the first season, you're, like, you're filming like a chunk, and then you're building upon that. So I imagine, obviously, the framework of the show is the same, but
Starting point is 00:32:56 the time we get to, like, seasons five or six, everyone's going to be so in their groove, and the writing team's going to have such an idea of these characters' voices that we're going to become even more endeared to them. Heck, yeah. I agree. Thank you, Tara. all righty who we got next who we got next on the Q&A the questions I'm scrolling up flying Scotsman
Starting point is 00:33:21 40772 Hey bud Friends Oh this is going to be a glorious fun time I am glad you're excited So glad the Rejects team is covering more shows Heck yeah I am too This is a fun addition
Starting point is 00:33:36 To the You know roster and these As much as we've debated the you know just concept of binge watching in general it is very gratifying getting to watch a chunk of these and then you know dish on them with you guys
Starting point is 00:33:51 so heck yeah I'm glad you're excited because I am excited yeah we get the best of both worlds getting to kind of binge a show but also getting to break it down and talk about it so we're eating it fast but not too fast. Yeah the best of both worlds Michelle R
Starting point is 00:34:07 thanks for chiming in friends Aaron and John now that you have the first little chunk of friends episodes complete which episode was your favorite what are you hoping to see more of going forward so happy i get to rewatch this for the zillionth time with you guys golly which was the best of those episodes that's a that's a toughie for sure oh golly um let's go back and look yeah let's see it's just uh it's funny because too the thing is when
Starting point is 00:34:40 you binge the one thing here or anywhere the one thing that you notice is it can be hard to like separate where the episodes go in your mind and what happened where but yeah let's see
Starting point is 00:34:55 I mean goodness the one with the smoking episode was really fun I like that one a lot was very fun yeah yeah that's a good pick I think the smoking episode or the one with them doing laundry
Starting point is 00:35:11 I think those are my favorites I think I would agree with that yeah because I feel like those those felt like they had like the most stuff happening in a way but also again still keeping it you know
Starting point is 00:35:24 tight and funny yeah the double date in the laundry is probably my favorite episode because yeah in the bit where they finally end up kissing and he hits his head on the door so freaking funny dude
Starting point is 00:35:37 and like I didn't expect like you know that's just some slapstick physical comedy like he had to I'm sure they took some level of precaution to not injure him but he sold that so well I'm very curious if we go on IMDB which out of those
Starting point is 00:35:51 six which is the highest rated episode yeah I mean the one is the general consensus let's find out why not IMDB Friends season one all right all right let's see what
Starting point is 00:36:05 the what the ratings here are we got 8.1 for the first episode, 7.8 for the second. 8 for the one with the thumb. Not bad. I mean, and that's one of our faves here. I mean, the one with George Stephanopoulos, that's got a 7.9. I thought all the hospital stuff was really funny in that episode.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Yeah, that one was really good. Let's see. The one with the eastern laundry detergent, 8.3. I think they would agree with us. Yeah, I think they would. And the one with the butt, 8.0. solid ratings all around heck yeah I feel like yeah
Starting point is 00:36:41 I'm content with those faves and I'm excited to gain more faves thank you for your enthusiasm this is just yeah I really just appreciate y'all being so excited and embracing our journey here because it's seminal show you know heck yeah
Starting point is 00:36:56 Jay Orreston how's it going buddy you're one of our most consistent questioners and I feel grateful that you're here so what friend are you most like i'm definitely joey being funny um i think that as much you know as much as everybody probably wants to be chandler uh and and you know you've got aspects of all the friends i would imagine
Starting point is 00:37:26 that most likely i would be some combo of ross and phoebe okay i feel like is is who i would most accurately be, you know, because I can be a little spaced out like a Phoebe and a little bit like, you know, kooky like a Phoebe, but also, yeah, you know, I'm more, I don't know. I don't feel like I'm quite the Joey. I don't think I'm a Joey either. And, yeah, Chandler's, like, a bit cooler than me and a bit more, like, quippy, sarcastic, like, reliably than me so uh i feel like you're you're pretty quick i feel like you're really quick and witty it depends i'm chandler on camera for sure or at least you know i i my brain activates that
Starting point is 00:38:11 way i feel like in the wild it it depends it can really depend if that john shows up or not you know and sometimes i want that john and i can't get him uh or you know when you're trying to be that guy it can get you get in your own way um yeah i would probably say ross and a little bit of phoebe myself i'm i'm i'm pretty weird it can be i'm a how do i say this um you can bleep it out if you need to i'm i'm what they call a a a whimsical nigga so okay so you know i love that that's lovely so you know so you know i feel like phoebe has some whimsy to her so say did you coin this phrase or is this a phrase that already exists So there's, so on the internet, there's been a rise of, of black people embracing their whimsy.
Starting point is 00:39:05 And I'm like, yeah. Yeah. I am whimsical. Let's go. I love that. Let's go. More whimsy. People should be able to be whimsical, man.
Starting point is 00:39:13 People should. And, you know, I feel like I, the endearing lover boy side of me is definitely Ross. And I feel like I can be kind of sarcastic and I can come across that way. But also this latest episode kind of. showed the contrast between like the id and like wanting to be like the the sexual casanova who doesn't care but also like the dude with like a big heart and i feel like chanler and ross kind of have that in common even though it's not at the forefront of chanelers uh personality there so i think yeah the mix the combination of of chanler ross and phoebe
Starting point is 00:39:51 would would probably amalgating to me heck yeah i'm very curious to hear any and all of people's summations of themselves as the friends. So leave which friend you are most like down in the comments peeps. Jennifer Dixon for friends who would you most like to have a drink with? For me
Starting point is 00:40:11 it's Phoebe and Chandler. I mean that would be a fun, like that would be a fun trio of us. I feel like if I was to grab a drink one on one, oddly enough, I think Rachel would be like a really not because Jennifer Aniston and like, you never
Starting point is 00:40:27 noticed that like every Jennifer Aniston movie past a certain point like stops the movie to be like she's still hot but I feel like Rachel in an odd way would be a really nice conversation over a drink like it would be fun but you would probably be able to like talk talk
Starting point is 00:40:43 and yeah she's a little detached because of her status but I don't know there's just something instinctually where I'm like I bet she would be like really fun and easy to talk to. I think someone who's naturally curious and I think by being empathetic and curious makes me a national interviewer.
Starting point is 00:40:58 So I feel like the person that intrigued me the most because she's so mysterious would probably be Phoebe. I probably want to talk with Phoebe out of everybody there. But granted, I would love to talk to everybody, but she'd probably be top of the list. Yeah, and it depends what kind of drink, too, because I would agree, like, if I'm out for fun drinks and I want to, like, you know, carry it on
Starting point is 00:41:15 and, like, you know, have a kooky fun night, then Phoebe and Chandler, like, all the way. But, yeah, if I'm just, like, sitting down over some drinks and, like, we're just having a chat. Yeah, I might go Rachel on that one. But it's hard to pick wrong, you know? Um, let's see. Thank you so much, Jennifer.
Starting point is 00:41:30 And, uh, I like your, your hair and glasses combo in your little profile pick here. So heck you out of that. Um, let's see. Naked gun. Um, stranger things. All right, Janice Bragg. Thank you for chiming in. Welcome again.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Hope you got that shout out from before. Um, G, you guys are going to watch Friends. I'm so excited. The only time I want on the trivia app. HQ was on the friends one. Damn, I remember when people were playing HQ. You could win money off that, couldn't you? Either way.
Starting point is 00:42:04 I'm very, it's a, yeah, it's like a trivia app that would have, like, timed live trivia experiences, and then you would have to, like, log on with your friends, and, you know, everybody kind of tries to pool the answers together, and then if you do it in a certain amount of time or you hit a certain set of criteria, I think you won, I think you had the chance to win money or something like that. Or perhaps just the bragging rights that you and your team know. the shit. But yeah, I'm excited that you're excited.
Starting point is 00:42:31 And I can only imagine the depths of Friends trivia. Like, it's got to be insane. The amount of stuff that there is out there to know. But thank you, Janice. I'm glad you're excited. I'm excited as well. Zen science closing us out. Friends is my number one show.
Starting point is 00:42:51 I have been watching Friends on Cinnapal's with Kristen. I love her reactions. I will still be watching. it here thank you zen and i hope that you compare us to christian at every step of the journey so that we can feel you know the constant need to do better and to earn your approval yeah also i think another person asks us what friends you think we would be obviously you guys we love you guys we do so many videos here so you get the sense of our our friendships our dynamics our personalities and whatnot based off of what you see within the frame of your
Starting point is 00:43:28 television phone or computer what would you think what kind of friends we would be what which ones do you think we're most like based off of your personal observations let us know in the comments below terra's Phoebe okay roxy is oh is she more of a rachel or a monica i'm not sure that's tough i feel like monica's not well defined enough yet i feel like monica has traits i feel like monica needs yeah like I don't know
Starting point is 00:43:56 how to describe it's like I know what the traits are of her character and I think that obviously she's supporting
Starting point is 00:44:01 the ensemble really well but yeah like what her actual thing is for the show you know still needs to arise
Starting point is 00:44:09 I think to a degree goodness I don't know if anybody's one to one yeah that's the thing
Starting point is 00:44:16 it's tough I think the thing has to be combinations of each of them because I don't know if anybody
Starting point is 00:44:21 here's Joey I don't know Andrew's Joey. Yep. Andrew's Joey. Yeah. How you, I don't know. How you doing?
Starting point is 00:44:30 How you doing? I think that's a phrase that he says eventually. I'm excited to discover all the things I have in the back of my mind from people quoting it and being like, you don't know this for friends. I was afraid to spoil that I knew that, but I don't know the context for it. It's okay. There is no way in which you won't know a thing or three. You know a thing or six. It's fun.
Starting point is 00:44:53 But yeah, choose which of the, you know, yeah, take the rejects team and then decide who each of us is as the friends. And, uh, yeah. That is tough. Yeah, that's, that's really tough. Yeah, yeah, and it is tough to draw any one to one. Part of me is, like, do it. Like, set that as the parameter to make it challenging, but either way. Do you have one that come up to your, your brain that are immediately, like, this is this guy?
Starting point is 00:45:18 Not exactly. Like, I'm trying to, yeah, like, the only, the only one I know is terror. I'm like, Tara would be Phoebe 100%. I can see some Chandler and Greg. Yeah, Greg is either Chandler or Ross on camera. He's very sensitive on camera. I feel like I am a bit more on here, you know, a bit more of the quips. Not that I don't get sensitive on camera.
Starting point is 00:45:41 You know, I definitely relish in like a zinger or something like that, which is very Chandler. Greg also has shown his butt on camera, though, so he could be Joey. I didn't know that Go find that sketch Oh god It's on YouTube Maybe It might still be
Starting point is 00:46:00 Okay We'll see I'll have to go look I actually don't know It might have been age Restricted into oblivion But yeah One of our old sketches
Starting point is 00:46:09 Had some butt in it I love that Go find that internet We need to see it Oh my goodness Yang Thank you for joining us You got any more
Starting point is 00:46:19 Straight thoughts Before we Head over to Central Perk for a cup of? I would love to go to Central Perk. No, I'm excited to see what happens to the next six episodes. Yeah, I'm gonna go get a drink now at Central Perk
Starting point is 00:46:32 with John. Hell yeah, we can do that. If we can find someone to get us onto the Warner Brothers lot, one of those lots. You know, I'm not actually certain. I would not be surprised if they shot it in L.A. and then got some NY establishing you know, B-roll. Because that
Starting point is 00:46:52 often happens. Brooklyn 9-9, certainly you watch that show and you're like, oh, that's Burbank, that's downtown. This establishing shot was filmed in New York. Wow. But yeah. That's crazy. Yeah. Oh my goodness. I lost my train of thought. It's okay. We're going to go get some coffee now, guys. Let's go to Central Park. Be well.
