Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey react to Episodes 13–18 of FRIENDS Season 2, continuing their hilarious journey through the beloved 1990s sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. These mid-to-late Season 2 episodes capture the heart, humor, and iconic chemistry that turned FRIENDS into a cultural phenomenon — with love triangles heating up, career changes brewing, and countless quotable moments at Central Perk. This stretch of episodes includes some of the most famous and highly searched FRIENDS moments — from Ross and Rachel’s first official date, to Chandler’s breakup with Janice (again!), Monica’s new career direction, Phoebe’s quirky half-brother revelations, and Joey’s soap opera debut on “Days of Our Lives.” Add in Rachel’s Valentine’s chaos and Ross’s jealousy, and you’ve got peak 90s sitcom gold. The legendary ensemble cast features Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show, Marley & Me) as Rachel Green, Courteney Cox (Scream, Cougar Town) as Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow (Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, The Comeback) as Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc (Episodes, Joey) as Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry (The Whole Nine Yards, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) as Chandler Bing, and David Schwimmer (Band of Brothers, Madagascar) as Ross Geller. Packed with classic moments, emotional payoffs, and hilarious misunderstandings, these episodes capture FRIENDS at its very best — balancing love, laughter, and life in New York City. Whether you’re a longtime fan or watching for the first time, this rewatch delivers all the nostalgia you could ask for. Without further ado, let's see who else shows up for the after the Super Bowl. Yeah! oh my goodness friends we've done it that's right oh goodness gracious me it is i'm all disheveled now from having so much freaking fun if you made it to this point in the
Starting point is 00:01:49 video thank the folks over it for chopping these highlights together it is a task especially for a show like this in ways you might not expect i wasn't kidding during the episode with some of the artwork in Joey's apartment. I'm like, we don't like censoring stuff, but sometimes you got to get it on the YouTube, and now I'm like, are we going to have to censor that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:09 You know, but regardless, Prepper, thank you for handling whatever did or didn't get censored here, and that we appreciate you all mightily. Also, if you guys could leave a like, you made it to this point in the video, that would be wicked, awesome. Subscribe, hit the notification mail to be notified when the next friend's
Starting point is 00:02:25 medley comes your way. And yeah, if you happen to be listening to this and review form as audio over on a podcast platform we got there. Leave us a little bit of a rating, if you would be so kind. Ron. Ronaldo. Another delightful batch of soads. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:42 And you're feeling? Feeling good. Feeling great. More delightful. Yeah, more delightful batch than Eddie's fresh-baked goods. Dude, not trusting anything about those cookies. Get those away from me. Fresh-baked bads.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Fresh-baked. You know, duklet chip cookies are out here. Always check your candy, kids. Do cookies. No, no, do cookies. All right, all right. This is a very fun badge, though, and it was cool to get that sort of like one-two punch.
Starting point is 00:03:13 The last batch ending on the, you know, first one after the Super Bowl and then picking up from the second one after the Super Bowl today. A lot of guest stars, man. A lot of big guest stars this episode, these couple of episodes. Damn, did you have a favorite out of these? Oh, instantly.
Starting point is 00:03:31 It was the part two. The Julie Roberts episode. Dude, that was insane. That whole episode was great. Both storylines were so fun. Yeah, dude, freaking John Claude Van Damme, too. Julia Roberts, like, stole the entire episode. But John Claude, it was just fun to have him around.
Starting point is 00:03:48 And, God, the long game of that whole thing with them trading. Underwear was bonkers. That was my favorite part. bonkers and yeah like the height that the show must have reached you know partway into season two that's wild to get you know you had George Clooney and Noah Wiley
Starting point is 00:04:06 in the first season and ER was huge but I have to imagine that Julia Roberts would have been especially like John Clive Van Damme also a huge star but Julia Roberts is like you know the A list the aest of A list at this moment in time I got to feel like yeah I have to imagine some degree they were the pioneers of getting
Starting point is 00:04:22 TV getting movie stars and TV shows I would imagine Because it's such a regular thing now, but you don't even think about it. And God, the days of our lives stuff has been really fun. Yeah. Yeah, let's see. Because, yeah, the bracelet thing was pretty funny. Let's see, that's right.
Starting point is 00:04:39 The prom video thing was really sweet, I thought. Like, that was, and seeing them doing the whole, like, we're going to make them up and do a flashback and, you know, see all of, at least half of them, you know, in younger form. I just thought was really fun. And then, yeah, like, that being the payoff to Rosam. Rachel, at least for this moment at time, I have no idea what the, if we're just all in they will, they will, they will, they won't they? Spend the next eight years together. I mean, like, something's got to drive apart, some've got to bring it back together.
Starting point is 00:05:11 But that was a really sweet way to, you know, tie the ribbon on at least this current will they, won't they iteration. I thought that was really sweet. And then, too, yeah, I really enjoyed the thread of Joey being on Days of Our lives. I think that's really fun the way they incorporate that. I'm sad actually. He's been written off the show now, although that was a funny way to do it. The recliner gag in the episode where, yeah, Joey gets the money and yeah, they're like glued to the TV. I thought it was really funny. Tom Selleck, really fun and lovely presence. And even though he's not like, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:48 one of the mainest characters, you know, on part with the ensemble, it's still been like really fun to have him, you know, in just tow and have him, his personality, his charm and his swagger and his older guy confidence, uh, are really nice. Um, and just, yeah, them getting together, I thought was really sweet and really nicely handled. And the Ross and Rachel, like, uh, planetarium date. I thought was really sweet and funny, obviously. This whole saga with, uh, freaking Eddie has been very interesting. uh the smelly cat music video was wild there's a yeah there was a whole bunch of stuff oh we forgot to read the title on episode 18 yeah the one where dr romore dies damn oh boy this was yeah this was a mini saga this was a few things let's uh dive in we got a couple of comments and questions from our patrons today tara hi john and aaron hello to you thanks for driving in you haven't done so yet would you share your thoughts on the physical comedy of the show do you have a favorite actor or character whose physical comedy makes you
Starting point is 00:06:53 you laugh the most i definitely have to say ross and chandler their physical comedy really really gets me i keep going back to the scene in season one where rachel kisses ross for the first time and he hits his head on the the washer machine so funny that was so there was something did he do something in one of these episodes they were there yeah they're i think those are the two i would agree because like chanler has you know matthew perry's physicality is like yeah he has this sort of like weird flowy thing and he always does like the little like bashful foot rub. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:07:29 when he did it in the stall. Yeah, he did in the stall and we've seen her do that before. Yeah, I mean they all have fun instances of physical comedy but I feel like at Chandler is like the more apparent physically funny one and they're often giving him something to do behind someone's back or whatever. I'm trying to think of any
Starting point is 00:07:45 specific instances from these episodes right now. It's always kind of a days in hindsight of a binge because there's like all these moments jumbled up in your head. Yeah, they're all fused together a little bit. But, yeah, Chandler is the one I would say is like, yeah, presents as a really funny physical slapstick character.
Starting point is 00:08:02 And then Ross is like the sleeper where I'm like, you might not expect it, but actually his physical gags are really funny. And too, I just appreciate Lisa Kudrow's just like general physical, like, she's the most sort of like, she's always, she's often moving and she's often kind of like, in her own physical rhythm as well as, you know, of the dialogue or whatever else. So I think that her character just exists in a physical realm in a different way from everyone else. Yeah, I mean, Ross and, I mean, Rachel and Monica got to have like a physical little bit of comedy. That trio of them, yeah, with them, like, wrestling each other.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I got pulled into that. I was like, they were really going for this. Oh, yeah. Phoebe having to be, like, their mom and, like, lay down the law and, like, grab them both by the ear and, like, set them straight, 100%. Yeah. beating rachel with the sock was so good she pulled her own sock off and beat her with it yeah that was very that was wild and the cuts too there's some fun editing is for as much as you associate this is like live studio audience comedy uh there's a lot of like fun editing gags and stuff across this too
Starting point is 00:09:10 also the part where they were threatening each other because Monica wouldn't or rachel wouldn't say sorry so she's going to rip the sweater and then she's going to pour the sauce freaking sauce oh yeah i mean everybody gets a chance i feel like everybody does some fun physical comedy and I do appreciate them all as performers and even just like the silliness of the smoothness of them all like gathering around Chandler in the bathroom stall and like you know being standing up on the toilets and stuff like that there's yeah there's a ton here in these little moments and thing oh for sure yeah I'm trying to think if there's anything else but yeah that's a lot of stuff that comes to mind them touching each other and getting all giggly that was pretty funny golly gotta get a tattoo also yeah the tattoo moment was funny yeah I'm liking that
Starting point is 00:10:01 even now we're getting combos maybe you wouldn't expect like you know Phoebe I mean we've seen Phoebe and Chandler together as a combo I'm trying to think if there's anyone we haven't necessarily done yet as far as like a pair up we've done Monica and Joey we've obviously done Phoebe and Monica
Starting point is 00:10:19 Ross and Monica already I feel like everybody's paired up Everybody's paired I feel like Joey doesn't get spun off With as many of the girls individually That's true You know
Starting point is 00:10:31 Yeah Then again I guess Chandler doesn't quite either I don't know Yeah I was gonna say Chandler and Rachel We've had a ton of those We've had it though I'm gonna start a ratio We gotta get like a percentage counter going
Starting point is 00:10:46 Of like who spends time the most with who Which like trios and like sets of four And then yeah do a mathematical breakdown of who needs to spend the most time in these next couple episodes to approach a better balance. Yeah, I get that equilibrium going of equally distributed time spent, so they're all equally invested friends. God, I know there's a moment or something in one of these episodes involving, like, Moniker
Starting point is 00:11:10 or some, yeah, it's like there's so many great, fun physical moments. I guess I'll just say this. Like, yeah, they have a really nice handle on that stuff, and as much as there is, you know, a lot that's coming out of the writing and the timing and the timing. the scripting and all that stuff. Yeah, like the physicality of the performers is really great. And two, that's a great comedic asset
Starting point is 00:11:31 that they have, but it's also great for the moments where they have to play intimacy and, you know, these like, will, they won't they, you want to kiss, but you don't feel like you should or you can or you're nervous, and like the physical tension that they have to perform as well as
Starting point is 00:11:46 the literal physicality that they each bring. And two, like, it's heightened enough that they all have their own kind of like heightened character posture. There's like a Joey posture or a Chandler posture. Oh yeah. No, they both, they all have that thing about them
Starting point is 00:12:02 which is, yeah, which sets apart from one another. Yeah, I was thinking as we're watching that, I think the last episode where Phoebe and Chandler were sitting there together and I was like, huh, it seems kind of funny. In some regard, you get why these people
Starting point is 00:12:18 work, but on paper it seems like they shouldn't work. Like the combo of someone like a Phoebe and a Chandler because he's so witty and she's like could be a little airheady sometimes but now I guess still can Joey but there's that
Starting point is 00:12:32 bro man's thing about it that makes them work. Yeah I don't know I'm curious to see because I'm sure they'd find like interesting ways of bringing out whatever works about a combo versus what might not but I can see why you might not pair off Joey and Phoebe all the time because they're like
Starting point is 00:12:47 the kind of I guess Chandler's like the funny guy but he's also like a smart character where they're the two air-headed characters more so or the most occupying of that, you know, archetype within the group. It's like, oh, yeah, do they get paired off as much? Not really, but maybe that could be something cool down the line or whatever. I don't know. They're all really fun together, and I think, yeah,
Starting point is 00:13:07 whoever cast this show did, like, I hope they never had to work again, and they live in a, you know, gold palace because obviously this is like one of the greatest assemblages of, you know, talents for, you know, a common goal in TV history. but yeah i would love to hear your guys thoughts on the uh the physical comedy in the uh well yeah i don't know who's my favorite yeah i guess i'm just tying it back around i guess it would be yeah it's it's chanler and ross like stand out the most is like they've cracked me up the most with
Starting point is 00:13:37 like physical gags and things like that but everyone's got a good one this episode's brought to you by prize picks the app that made me finally understand my wife's obsession with She's been obsessed with fantasy sports the entire time I've known her. And I'll be honest, I would sometimes zone out whenever she would talk stats. She'd kill me for a minute of that recorded. But until now, now I get it. Because price picks makes it simple and fun. And no, it's not gambling.
Starting point is 00:14:09 It's daily fantasy sports. You're not betting against other people or the house. It's just you versus your predictions. You pick more or less on two-player stats. Like will Steph Curry hit more than five threes tonight? Or will Patrick Mahomes throw less than three TDs that's touchdowns for you uninitiated? And if you're right, you get paid. And I'm a man all about efficiency and speed, so what hooked me is how fast it is.
Starting point is 00:14:33 You can make a lineup in under a minute in over 40 states, and it gives every game that extra level of excitement. When you're right, that feeling can be addicting in the best kind of way. So, Reject Nation, if you're ready to join the Alba household, you can download the Price Picks app today and use code rejects to get 50. dollars in lineups after you play your first five dollar lineup that's code rejects to get $50 in lineup after you play your first $5 light up prize fix it's good to be right j rushden thank you for chivalin in question what guest star were you surprised to see for me it was julia
Starting point is 00:15:07 or roberts uh definitely i don't have to agree with you of that i mean jean clae van dam i was surprised because i just wouldn't have expected whereas like julia roberts like makes more sense but is so such a superstar that I'm like, damn, she came and did an episode and like really did the episode, like was like the center, you know, the spotlight of that episode, the centerpiece, the star, essentially. Yeah, she definitely surprised me the most, I would say. Yeah, out of this block for sure, her,
Starting point is 00:15:36 I did not know Tom Selleck was in the show or that he had a recurring role in it because normally these people are one-offs. And also, you know, obviously Brooke Shields was very popular back then. And so to get to see her be like a weird, crazy character was really fun. Yeah, absolutely. Playing against type, I imagine. I've seen her in a ton of things.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Yeah, and I mean, you know, Adam Goldberg, I wouldn't have expected to see just because I don't associate him with, you know, this kind of thing. But, you know, pretty funny so far as well. But, yeah, I'm trying to think of that I was definitely surprised when George Clooney showed up. Yeah, they're good at getting, you know, interesting guest stars and, like, celebrity appearances. And it just, yeah, makes me fascinated to. to hear the account of how the show, you know, skyrocketed into, like, massive, you know, prominence to the point where, yeah, people would break. Like, the, I don't think being on TV and especially network TV was as common of a thing or as, like, respective, respectable of a move back then. So this must have been, like, a really big deal on a sign that, like, oh, man, this thing is top of the world.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Is someone like Julie Roberts is going to jump in here? Yeah, also surprising seeing the dude from smart guy. I was a fun little Kid for him. Absolutely. Oh, Chris Isaac. Yeah, he surprised me. Yeah, they got a lot of good ones. Brian, he didn't have a beard, but you called him Brian Hussein. Oh, Brian Possein.
Starting point is 00:17:00 Yeah, yeah. Heavy metal. Yeah, he's a surprising appearance in a show like this. I feel like I associate him much more with niche comedy. But then again, this is the kind of thing where if you're starting out, you might get a bit part like that. But yeah, leave us your most surprising
Starting point is 00:17:16 character appearances, your favorite cameos, et cetera. Flev Doran, my dude, good to hear from you. One of the many reasons friends was so popular is that, as you saw by now, many 80s and 90s iconic actors guest starred, and many of them spoke about
Starting point is 00:17:32 how much they loved being on that set. That seems actually, I could see that because it seems like a very fun gig to get to play and to do kind of a pseudo theater TV situation. for a lot of like bigger prominent film actors or whatever had to be very fun if you want let's make a mini game where both of you pick one or two actors that you think or want to see guest star in a future episode and I'll update you guys if and when you got it ooh oh well there's one that I do know I don't know what season that actor is coming in or what context they play but there's a pretty big actor that I think the cultural osmosis now appears in the show I think think you might know the same person if you don't know i might i don't know if i want to guess or not okay but there's one guy from this era who i think would be a hundred percent like a shoe in
Starting point is 00:18:24 for a show like this who i do think shows up at some point um who started out in this era who's still very popular now uh who i think shows up are we talking about the same first i think we might be is her with a b oh no no no never mind no mine no mine's with a p huh interesting okay interesting um i would think where are we at we're in the mid-90s like maybe a Will Ferrell like an early Will Ferrell I feel
Starting point is 00:18:52 like maybe a Janine Garofalo would show up a Seinfeld appearance would be wild Johnny Depp would be fun Johnny Depp in an episode that sounds like a thing weird enough to happen yeah right yeah let's see he's big in the 90s Jim Carrey would be fun
Starting point is 00:19:08 Jim Carrey would be a blast golly I was thinking like Martin Short god if they had like a katherine o'hara show up somewhere or like a jane lynch uh was she was she because she's been around longer than you imagine um freaking a what other like big actress actors actresses i want to see denzil pop up there you go let's see let's go biggest 90s actors uh shrews willis oh tom hanks would be fun leo oh jeanna davis Sigourney Weaver? I don't think Leo would come here.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Brad Pitt would be a fun one for sure. Meg Ryan, maybe. Sandra Bullock would be great. Robin Williams would be great. Robin Williams, God. Tom Cruise. So many.
Starting point is 00:19:58 I can see a Susan Saran. We're just flipping through a list now. Merrill Streep on Friends. Let's do that. Tim Curry on Friends. Tim Curry. I would love Tim Curry on Friends. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:20:08 I think it's Haiti stars who could show up. Bill Murray would be great. Bill Murray would be a good one. Get an Adam Sandler episode. Eddie Murph. Jack Nicholson on Friends. Yeah. Now we're going really off-road.
Starting point is 00:20:23 Tom Keat, I mean, I feel like someone who would do something like this, Michael Keaton. Michael Keaton would be a good one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely agree. Yeah, those are some guesses. Those are some, is Rosie O'Donnell going to be on an episode? She was really big back then. Oh, yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:40 I'm going to walk in Michael Keaton and. just scored and love it all right oh jiggle's a great one damn maybe a jason priestley or uh let's go who was um freaking oh golly no we just lost him what's his name freaking the guy from the show and then he's archie's dad um that's gonna i'm gonna be so mad at myself yeah yeah uh uh freaking know his name is luke perry i want a luke perry appearance that's what i want but leave us uh your no don't because you guys already know Keep track, Flev. And if you want, you can ask us again down the line.
Starting point is 00:21:16 I hope Mr. T shows out. That's what I want. Yeah, I'll just have new answers for you every week. But yeah, thank you for collecting them. And I look forward to seeing who actually makes it in. No. There you go. Nikki Sonorisa, friends John and Aaron, friend Nikki.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I am so excited to watch these episodes with you every week. Yeah, we are too. Absolutely. I honestly feel like I'm doing. my yearly rewatch but with well friends which is absolutely the whole goal very important question what is your favorite
Starting point is 00:21:49 Phoebe song that you've heard so far oh my god smelly cat has certainly recurred enough that it's the main one I know about iconic I'm like god what else she's saying like a few songs of the kids last episode or last batch of episodes you watched
Starting point is 00:22:07 yeah yeah god she's singing she sings so many songs oh my god There's so many songs that Phoebe sings over the course of this show. I was going to say. A list of Phoebe Vufe songs. I don't want to get spoiled in all the songs. Confused favorite thing from the pilot. Love song from the pilot.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Blackout. I think the Blackout song, I'm going to say that one. Oh, God. Let's see. My mother's ashes. They found their bodies. What's the one she sings in the closet? Maybe that one?
Starting point is 00:22:39 No. Oh, double-jointed boy was a pretty funny one, I think. Terry's a jerk. Damn. I got a, yeah, so many of these things, too, are, like, coming at me firsthand. So the bisexual song was pretty funny. Let's see. Yeah, that was good.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Krusty old man. Also, the one, I like the one where she was talking about Rossus to make a decision. Yeah. Oh, it's fun. Oh, goodbye. The 10. It's hard to say, because, again, yeah, like I said, Smelly Cat is so
Starting point is 00:23:12 well defined now in my mind where the rest of them are sort of like are more off the cuff and I like that about them. I hope that they continually bring back ones that are not Smelly Cat. It seems like they will. But yeah, there are so many funny ones and these are the ones we named off are just ones that kind of in reading them, I'm like, oh yeah, I kind of remember that one
Starting point is 00:23:35 and that would make me laugh. But yeah, make me a medley playlist and I'll listen to them all in depth and then I'll re-answer this question later. Yeah. But comment below, gang, what your favorite Phoebe song or songs is slash are and if your favorite one's coming up,
Starting point is 00:23:52 you know, then get us hype for it. You get any more thoughts to share with the people? No. I know our next batch will be concluding the second season so I'm excited to get back into it and watch those episodes. Craziness. We're moving quick, but I appreciate you all for being here. This has been a joy.
Starting point is 00:24:09 It's been a blast. It's been fun to be. inducted into one of the most beloved comedic and heartfelt television experiences, experiences of the modern age of the 20th century into the 21st century. So, yeah, stay friendly. Let us know what your favorite episodes and moments were. And we'll catch you next time. Much love. You may have heard of the sex cult nexium and the famous actress who went to prison for her involvement, Alison Mack.
Starting point is 00:24:40 But she's never told her side of the story, until now. People assume that I'm like, this pervert. My name is Natalie Robamed, and in my new podcast, I talk to Allison to try to understand how she went from TV actor to cult member. How do you feel about having been involved in bringing sexual trauma at other people? I don't even know how to answer that question. Allison After Nexium from CBC's Uncover is available now on Spotify.
