This week's video is sponsored by Acorns, the money app that makes it simple and cheap to make small yet significant investments.
It's a good old time. It's a grand old time. But you know it's even a grander time?
What?
Hanging out with your friend. Hell yeah. Let's get it going. Let's do it.
How far we've been, though. Season three. Season freaking three.
freaking did it gang it was the one with the tiny t-shirt episode here we go all right well
we filled in all the blanks and uh god i was so engrossed and you know that feeling you get
when you're so engrossed in an episode and then it ends and you're like oh what what what do you
mean yeah it was yeah that episode flew by 22 minutes 22 minutes that's enough time for
CNN to give you the world and it's way more than enough time for you guys to hit the like
button on this video ding to subscribe and hit the notification bell so you can be notified when
the next time a friend's video comes out is you can ring that bell hey i like it i love it's right
baby and uh big thanks to prepper for chopping these together getting them visible on the youtube
avoiding the copyright ninjas and uh also also also if you happen to be listening to this as an audio
podcast review leave us a little bit of a rating if you could on your podcast platform of choice i'll run
how are you feeling now that we've wrapped up season three with our friends
feeling good feeling well feeling swell oh what the hell what the hell oh yeah the bell this is ringing the bell this is a great season of tv tv but you know it's funny uh they were together at the beginning of the season they broke up had a whole bunch of shenanigans happens and i were teasing them getting back together and it makes me realize or not realize but puts into perspective like oh yeah this is a show that came out weekly
So it doesn't feel like they've been broken up that long for us.
But for people, it's been weeks since that breakup happened.
I was about to say, in real time, we would have, like, a six-month gap to look forward to now as they go on hiatus.
Yeah.
Everyone takes a little bit of a break, like the old-school way of TV production.
You know, you air the final episode.
Probably before that, a lot of production has gone on break, but some people are still working on that final episode.
And then, yeah, you take a number of months off.
And then pre-production begins back up.
People start writing scripts, and they bank a few episodes.
you get three or four or five in the can and then they start airing and then you're kind
shooting as things are airing and yeah yeah and so they keep it going oh look at that
i think it chris brown directed an episode of this season hey hey slap slap slap slap oh yeah he's
had a long career sorry that was a guy that's a bit of gallows humor for chris brown i'm sorry i
take it back yes no no i wasn't offended um he's good but yeah he's gone he's come a long way
but yeah i uh i thoroughly enjoyed this season um you know not some healthy things are happening
in this finale you know he's he's holding with another girl on this trip but they have this
this chemistry this undeniable bond between ross and rachel yeah that needs to be satiated
and i imagine that it will be done come season four when we get to that episode just gotta be what
you said it's just got to be we got it's part of the saga
We got freaking seven more seasons to watch, you guys.
So it has to come to a head at some point.
Also, we're getting some teasers of potentially, you know, Chandler and Monica.
That's different.
That's new from what we've seen thus far.
That is true.
I'm curious to see where that goes.
Actually going to make that deal.
That seemed like it was going to become a legit plot thread.
And they did check in on it a couple times.
But it wasn't like one of the more focal.
That seemed like something now knowing that this is a two-parter that they were setting up
to then complete in the next episode
because some stuff
obviously like completes a little bit here
we find out all that damn is Phoebe's actual mom
which is a weird thing to discover
wait we need to figure out that
that was the same actress
I'm gonna start if that actress is actually her mom
because she looked a lot like her
okay okay I was like that chick looks like Phoebe
and she has like some of her mannerism
so if they're not related
then that's pretty crazy
but if she is I think a lot of sense
so okay the one at the beach
I'm just going to look up the title of this.
The one that's a bitch.
The one that's the bitch.
All right.
Here we go.
The one at the beach, Friends, episode TV.
Also, I'm asking how you're feeling.
I am feeling friendly.
I'm feeling good.
This was a delightful batch of episodes.
I mean, you know, I feel like we're at the point in the show now where...
They're not related.
You know, they're...
What?
Oh, doi.
Terry Gar.
Terry Gar is, yeah, is a famous actor.
And a rest in peace.
Oh, damn.
She just passed.
Yeah, she's in tons and tons and tons stuff.
Definitely an actor, yeah, who's like face I have seen in a lot of things.
Young Frankenstein, Tootsie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which I have not seen.
Mr. Mom, which I think is an Andrew movie, if I'm not mistaken.
We'd love to watch it.
Yeah, oh, she plays Mary McGinnis in Batman Beyond as well, the voice of.
Probably his mama.
Yeah, no, prolific actress, for sure.
And, yeah, definitely, like, a huge guest star.
get i i guess i believe it now kind of realizing not clocking in the moment that it was terry gar but
knowing that it's her and and the stature that she holds i'm like oh damn yeah this must be true
great casting yeah she does definitely look like she could actually be lisa kudrow's relation
uh but yeah this was i'm feeling good man this this it's you know the show itself feels like
it's at you know definitely like a cruising altitude you can just feel the sizz you can feel the
chemistry and the rhythm and the you know the sort of you know we're not privy to like the audience
conversation and the water cooler talk here and now but like i don't know even just watching these i'm
like oh i can imagine people in the 90s like gathering around the tv and this being a huge thing and just
yeah the the chemistry and the fun of it all is so you know effortlessly enjoyable but also it
kind of crackles you know when it's really on and even the episodes that you know are not quite as
unique or standout or still really like i've yet to meet an episode yet where i've been like i don't
ever want to watch that episode again these are all very fun and uh and yeah i mean the amount of things
too again binging these at like six episodes at a time it feels like he went through tons of stuff
because yeah we had the whole thing with dina mire and joey the saga of joey in the acting class
and the weird director guy and i like i like you know i'm curious as to how this will progress into
you know later seasons because right now again things are continuing to feel very
serial and very ongoing
and less episodic even though
there are a lot of random
hijinks that interspers stuff but I love
that stuff goes kind of for a few episodes
at a time like all that stuff with
Pete and you know
Monica going back and forth like I don't
I don't know if I love this guy or if I'm like
he got the spark for him but you know he's like
perfect in every other way and then you know
him buying the restaurant and the back and forth
with Phoebe about like oh is he lying
about having met somebody and then you know
them actually getting together and then him
wanted to do ultimate fighting this is like so much happens yeah a lot of happens and also you know
ross and rachel were together at the beginning of the season and they had the whole fight because
he was jealous about the mark guy yeah and the fallout of that and those awkward episodes between
the two of them and a lot of stuff happened in this this uh 25 episode block yeah seriously and
we got an extra episode an extra episode and put a little cherry on top oh yeah goodness we got the
crazy dollhouse thing
we got
yeah we got
this Ross that was very sweet too
like the Ross and Rachel stuff because I know
that that's like a saga of the show
is
has been handled
I like in the long run
that like there's some stuff where I'm like oh I definitely
agree more with one side or the other
there are other things where I'm like I kind of get both of
where they're coming from and the sort
of weird thing of like I'm mad at you I don't want to
be with you right now but I still have these
feelings and as time goes by and
experiences happen and we try other things
maybe we'll come back to each other and I think
the way they've done that here is really nice that whole thing
where Rachel's like
where Ross skips the
Discovery Channel TV opportunity
to take Rachel to the hospital when
she's like got the broken rib or
whatever it was like that you know
it's like a very sweet development
and an example of
as out of pocket as Ross has been in a lot
of respects along the journey
in this stretch season three
of their relationship
you know that was like a very fun and kind of lovely moment because yeah you can kind of feel the sacrifice that that would be and the fact that he doesn't even want to make a big deal out of it is kind of nice and yeah her expressing in this last episode this sort of feeling like yeah i'm mad at you that doesn't mean i don't love you and you know i have been trying obviously to like she went on a date with mark you know and uh and even that you know at first you're like oh no and then you see what happens and yeah it's short-lived and it's not
the right thing and it's not the solution and i like yeah the kind of nuance of the relationshipy
aspects of the show because yeah stuff for as much as friends is like a ubiquitous thing and
and you know comments on so many tropes of dating and and romance and coming of age as a young
person in the city and blah blah blah like it doesn't feel as cliche as you might expect out of a
sitcom you know going back to the 90s or something like that and uh yeah it's to the writing but
also to the cast i would say it's just a fun a bunch of fun guest stars i mean i like that that thing
with billy crystal and robin williams still blows my mind yeah wild out nowhere like bonkers
business and uh christine taylor a very fun edition uh the the jason you know the little swamp boy
jason bald cap she's got on his little crazy but uh yeah also ben stiller in his episode was
a lot of fun. That stiller was really funny and very bonkers. Kevin McDonald was a fun
sort of person to see, uh, pop up here. Phoebe and the two guys, what I think was a very
funny, uh, plot thread to when she's dating those two dudes. And they seem like each one has
this one quality. And then they both have both of the qualities. And they're kind of the same
guy. And she doesn't really end up with either of them. It's very, very funny. The chick and the duck
like Joey just like on TV, completely missing the point and like ordering a chick. Yeah.
so funny and we had them for like a solid block of episodes and you know chanler had his goatee and
got real slim and then you the one episode that he has it back no goatee yeah no no bird no no
duck and i'm like okay oh dude chanel i feel like i i'm used to people's hair and everything
changing every season but this season they've done a few on us you know yeah chandler definitely
has gone through a few looks plus you know when richard that's come to come out no mustache but yeah he had a little
mustache for a little while like that was crazy bro freaking crazy bro wild but yeah this is a joy to go
through these and i love ending on a two-parter we've had some pretty epic two-parters yeah um and uh and yeah
shouts out to freaking terry gar i'm sorry that i didn't clock you by name because uh i'm a heathen
like that's okay i'm sure she forgives you she's watching from beyond she does rest and peace and
thank you for all of your lovely work
uh yeah let's get into some patron questions let's do it let's do this thingy uh all right
what do we got from the trons nicky sonorisa thank you for chiming in today
hey john and erin happy friends day happy friends day nicky yeah this is one of my favorite
blocks of episodes on friends i have so many questions but i'll stick to this one fun one
Whose dollhouse?
Would you rather play with Phoebe or Monica's?
What's your favorite element of Phoebe dollhouse?
Mine is the ghost in the attic.
Mine too, actually, I was going to say.
Because every attic needs a ghost.
It does.
Let me see if I can pull that up really quick.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, that's the tricky part is, like,
I would want to visit Monica's dollhouse
because, like, it is beautiful and pristine.
But the problem is, like, yeah,
I would be perfectly at the center
of the two of their sensibilities
in that part of me,
would be like, you know, I want to preserve the beauty of the main dollhouse, obviously.
Yeah, it's so pristine and, like, put together. I don't want to, like, break anything.
I don't want to break anything, but I do want to apply a sense of imagination. You know what I mean?
Yeah. I do want to, you know, I want a ghost in the nice dollhouse attic, too.
Yeah, you know what? It feels like I would love, first of all, yes, I want to ghost in both of them.
very different types of ghosts but ghosts nonetheless and i would want to play with monocos but i feel
like i'd have like a sense of imagination i was more more practical you know maybe more grounded
you know have like a pristine sort of family a thing going on there yeah maybe some some drama
some history between the residents of the house whereas febe's house it's just a fun house we just
we're just doing whatever you know parties happening in one room you know art circles happen in another
room. I feel like to my personal sensibilities, I would prefer to go to Phoebe's house.
Yeah. And she got the, she got the freaking, um, the buggler with the, the, she got the,
tool of paper roll. Yeah. And the, uh, the bubbles come out of it. Yeah, that's right. And I mean,
too, I don't love a licorice, but I love that there is a slide instead of stairs. It's great.
And, and like a room that you can also eat with a titsy roll roll, roll away bed is like pretty
amazing. Yeah. Monica got a doll house. Uh, Phoebe got a fun house.
exactly there's an aroma
room like that's the thing is like Phoebe's has
so many rooms it's hard to choose and I like
the china cabinet
I mean Madicos? No Phoebe's has like so many
rooms to choose from four rooms
I know it's like you know
three major rooms
plus an attic I forget what this
downstairs one was
but yeah like you know there's spooky
ghost and I love this got like the little
lift the roof and the front falls open
revealing the tableau yellow
cow down there
plus we love creativity she built that herself out of shoeboxes tool paper rolls and whatever she could find plus the string lights the bubble chimney like it's it's an embarrassment of riches and it's hard to choose it's so charming but yeah the spooky ghost in the attic is definitely my favorite aspect for foreshow hope
whose room do you think ross went into in the finale thank you for chiming in hope and that is the question isn't it i ask because my mom watched it when it aired it had to wait four months for the next season to get the answer
Hoof. Heart hands. Yes.
Ooh. God.
I feel like he went into Rachel's room.
But I don't know, because I'm like,
they got to keep the drama momentum going through the season.
So we're going to have that comid thing at the beginning.
It might feel like it'd be too easy.
No, I'm changing it.
He went to the other girls' room.
I'm really debating this heavily.
Yeah, same.
Yeah.
Because I feel like it's too easy for us to start the season with them already together again.
But the way that they was kissing at the end, they still love each other.
So, like, what are we going to do about that?
You know, clearly, Ross is completely repulsed by this girl now that she's shaved her head,
which is why she's still an attractive girl.
Yeah, dude.
Well, and yeah, like, give it, even if the shine flips you, like, give it a few days and she'll have, like, the buzz.
Yeah.
That's great, too.
Like, she got that, like, the 90s shenan.
eight o'connor thing going on yeah like which i i guess i'm biased because like that fits within the
range of things that i enjoy but like you know i yeah i think the bald cap helps that case because
the bald cap adds mass and makes her look like a little alien you know so it's like if they
actually shaved her head i think the argument would be trickier actually and i think it's a nice
weird little quirk of circumstance that she probably didn't want to shave her head for this because i
don't think you would want to as an actor
honestly I think this is the time
where you would go let's do a ball cap and
I think too given the height and the tone
the tenor of the comedy that
helps yeah because
yeah I don't know I really
feel like Ross is the kind of guy who
would do it for love
and would go to Rachel's room
because deep down just he
even if he's tried to get over
her I just you know you just look at him and you're like
this guy still loves this woman of course
he does so part of me is like he's
Got to go there.
But the other part of me is like,
but that's what they want me to think.
Exactly.
And I feel like psychologically,
and I don't know if this is,
this is just pseudo,
pseudo speculation on my part.
I think psychologically
am used to seeing Rachel's door
be on the right side of the hall,
given that view of the apartment corridor
that we often get.
So part of me wonders
if he's going in to
Christine Taylor's room.
But then the,
way he said hey was so like tender as if it was for rachel yes i i don't know and and part of me is
like well what if he goes into uh god i need to to remind myself of her name uh you know it's like
what if he goes into bonnie's room just to explain the situation and then comes out and then
the next episode rachel sees him coming out and then there's like a whole thing there like
oh that would be what would freaking is there going to be some kind of weird misunderstanding that comes
out of this. They're usually freaking is.
But like, oh my God,
dude, the two-door choice is
maniacal in terms
of just the writers coming up with the device
to really rile us up.
And then four months you have to wait for that? I'm
so sorry. Yeah. Waiting four
days to watch the next block of episodes
is a bit agonizing. I, yeah,
like in my mind, I really don't have
every time I try and come to like a, no,
I think he'll do this. I have my brain
pivots. Like, spiritually
deep down, I think he wants to go
into Rachel's room regardless.
Yeah.
I don't know if Ross,
he just seems like
even if he was going to get back with
Rachel, he would try and let things
down as easily as possible with Bonnie
because she's ready to hear with us at a beach house
for the weekends. That's what he did with the other chick.
Yeah. With the Asian Jay
come on with Russ. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So I feel like he'd probably
do the honorable thing considering that she's staying
there. Plus, you know, I think
the friend group all drove there together.
Bonnie drove there by herself,
so you could let her down
and she just kind of goes off on her way.
Yeah.
What was her name, too?
What was her name?
Lauren Tom.
He's Ben Stiller's wife, right?
Yeah.
Oh, no.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Julie was her name.
Yeah, no, Christine Taylor's been stiller's wife.
But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's a humdinger, though.
It's a good brain cooker for you in the midst of the season.
And, yeah, I'm sorry for your.
your mom, and I hope that she's laughing, you know, at our plight as we wait at least four days
to shoot the next one.
Oh.
I know.
Fellow reject, maybe you'll identify with what I'm about to say.
I've never had the healthiest relationship with money.
It's not because I'm a big spender or something like that.
I've just my entire life carried around this general anxiety around it, a constant fear that I'm going to lose everything.
When I don't have much, I'm never going to gain anything.
Because, yeah, like, I'm a family, fought about money all the freaking time.
And, you know, we lost our home to bankruptcy when I was, like, much younger.
And even though I'm a grown adult now, the fear has just never evaporated.
And that is why, with today's sponsor, I signed up for them before they ever partner with us.
That is Acorns.
I'm going to explain it to you in the most simple way because it's simple to use.

for them a couple years ago so believe me started off small and it's been paying off in a way
that helps bring more comfort in that anxiety financial heart of my life i've been able to watch
that spare change turn into something real like sometimes when my mind's just racing or i'm going
down my little wormhole.
Sometimes I'm checking that app
actually does bring some comfort because
when I do, it reminds me I'm building
something and I've already built
something from it already
after a couple years. And you can experience
this too. I know people where
Acorns, their investment, help get them out of

dot com slash rejects to start growing your money smarter not harder thank you again
all right stephanie horton thank you for chiming in question oh thinking about the episode with
the screamer do you have any extremely wacky dating anecdotes that would make for good sitcom fodder
from your life oh golly that's a good question i mean i definitely have had some experiences
is on dates that would fit in like a Tim Robinson style sketch.
I was on a date once or, you know, something of a date once.
And this was like in high school and we were at like a Chili's or something.
And I had ordered some kind of appetizer and like very nervous and stuff.
And the second it showed up, I put, you know, like a onion ring or whatever it was in my mouth.
It was so fucking hot.
And it was just like one of those things where you try to play cool.
and then you just have to spit it back out.
And it was, yeah, it was very like, oh, God.
Oh, my God.
I was, I was, yeah, it's a small thing.
But in the moment, it was very mortifying.
And now it's like for this whole dinner, my mouth is burnt.
And, you know, I just, I just horked this thing back up onto the plate.
You know, it's not very unflattering for me.
Oh, my God.
So I guess not, wouldn't be contained into a single episode.
I feel like some of these would be arcs, but you guys, if you remember, it was last year, for those of you guys who watched a live, the whole saga with the girl in the car thing, that itself is a freaking sitcom.
The one with the girl in the car is an episode, and you were absolutely the star of that episode because you're in the middle just being like, guys, you don't understand.
And everyone around Jesus is like, what is happening?
Maybe one day I'll go into detail about what happened there.
That is that incident that was on camera is not where the day started, not where the day ended either.
That was just a small portion of that crazy freaking experience.
Oh, my God, yes.
Yes.
I'm trying to think.
Yeah.
As far as like dating goes, that would be one.
I one time had a, it's another whole story, but had an ex-girlfriend of mine,
potentially was pregnant as a prank to try to test my character.
I've had that happen to.
You've had that happen too?
Yeah.
No way.
Yeah, it wasn't a prolonged.
thing, but I have been sort of
attacked with that, you know, before.
What? We never talked about this? Okay.
It was a long time ago, yeah. We'll have to go over this
off camera. I mean, it wasn't, yeah,
it was, it was, uh, it wasn't
like I said, it wasn't like
many days. It was more like for part
of a day. No, same. Yeah, so,
so yeah.
That's freaking wild.
I'm trying to think when this would have been
how many years ago now.
But yeah, I mean, I've had
some other things that are a little bit more
not like heinous or anything
some things that are a little more
like a little less fun happen
that would still make for like
oh you know someone you're here with
is over there making out with somebody else
like you know like that's a sitcom thing
that could happen that's happened to me
I'm trying to think of yeah there's anything silly
outlanders mostly stuff like that I remember when I
when I was like first dating
my high school girlfriend I remember
that first movie we went to I was like
again it was that thing where you're like
you're doing the things but your nerves are all jangly
so we're like I made the move
to hold hands but my hand was like
so I was so filled with adrenaline
and my hand was like shaky the whole time
and it was like it was
prolonged I remember thinking to myself like
I was more in my head than anything I was like
what do here because this is like not a thing
you couldn't not notice
you know like yeah so should I just give up the ghost
and put my hand just like
cross my arms or something like that or should I
just wipe off with a hero
So should I keep this embrace going, you know, despite being, yeah, all jangled up.
That is a pickle.
Yeah.
I feel that.
I feel that intrinsically.
There was another time where I was seeing this girl and she wanted to take me to this beach and we went to like the secluded part of the beach.
But in order to get there, we had to go through a beach cave and we had to walk and then we're like chilling on that side of the beach for a while until we realized that high tide was.
coming. Yeah. And I just
got out of wrist surgery. Yeah.
And so I only had one good
hand and we had to cross back through
this jagged cave and
but the water was already risen
up and I'm 6'4. So it was
already to like my shoulders by the time
that we were going back
and it was like pulling me back and forth.
Yeah, man, I thought I was going to dive. That was a
definitely a crazy situation.
Luckily, we both survived
but yeah, that was a
wild date.
Sure.
It was definitely a wild dating experience.
Absolutely.
Wow.
Golly.
Yeah.
That's like a survival test.
Yeah, I one's less funny, but it sure was, I mean, it's funny in retrospect.
Well, that's the thing about these shows, too, though, is like they, some, I could see that being a plot point, too, because as a team building exercise, it's like some kind of situation for you guys to, like, have to figure out and, like, I don't know, you got to call upon some level of your just, you know, fortitude against the elements to even in a.
situation like that just figure out like we'd got to do wade back over there you know we're trapped
now sort of yeah dude i had one good arm and i was trying to walk through a spiky cave and you're in a cave
yeah you see my scar you're in old school territory you're you're you know doing the primal shit
i was yeah and we mean her no talk anymore but you know we'll always have that yeah yeah
i'm trying to think if there's anything more but you can always just continually ask this question
if anything comes to mind.
We'll think of stuff.
Yeah.
There's got to be some other embarrassing date scenario.
But yeah, that's what we got for right now.
Leave yours down in the comments below if you're brave enough.
Yeah.
All right.
Trivia from Stephanie Horton.
Oh, wait, no, no, no.
We got Jay Rushden.
My beat, okay.
Jay Rushden.
Question.
Answer.
Where they get the duck and the chick and the cold open with Crystal and Williams.
Most random intros.
Were those the most random interests?
I would say.
Yes.
Yeah.
I mean, Billy Crystal and Robin Williams.
It threw me off.
That was an authenticity.
That reaction that drew out of us was authentically huge because it's weird.
Like I was talking to a friend of mine recently about just friends.
And they were like, oh, you know, you're going to get ready because some crazy cameos are coming your way.
And I was like, I feel like they've already been pretty crazy.
We got George Clooney and Noel Wiley.
and then we got John Clyde Van Dam and Brooke Shields
and Julia Roberts and stuff
and then lo and behold the next shoot blog was like
fucking Robin Williams was it Billy Crystal here
what was it was going? Never mentioned again
which is even more hilarious
yeah and nothing to do
they didn't directly engage with our characters
except for like can we sit here yeah
yeah yeah um and
and the chicken the duck I mean I love
the weird little animal threads that wasn't like
a cold open I don't I don't think but
uh you know was it
wasn't a cold involved in a cold
Either way, the chick and the duck, I thought was very funny.
Because, you know, we've had Marcell.
We've had, like, everybody has had at some point, or there have been, not everybody,
it was at the points.
Yeah, weird animal friends.
Yeah.
And I appreciate that they're there and that they come up in Congress.
It's been the men who've had the weird pets.
Let's get the girls getting some weird pets, too.
Yeah, let's get a ferret for Monica and, uh, and Rachel.
Let's get a Phoebe Flamingo.
Yeah.
Let's get fish, uh, flamingo for Phoebe.
Yeah.
And a rabbit for.
rachel yes and a mongoose for monica there we go uh yeah i mean that cold open is going to be
hard to live up to and uh and yeah i just yeah i'm team duck and and chick and uh you know i hope
that we see that chick grow to a ripe old age and that the chick doesn't befall the fate
that was in the commercial that joey was watching that inspired him to buy the chick
despite the commercials i don't want this i don't want that either
I don't like the chick to have a long.
Fulfilling life.
Same with the duck.
Absolutely.
All right.
I want to know more about that Billy Crystal
Robin Williams thing because, holy crud.
Trivia.
Here we go.
Fun fact about this block is both Ben Stiller
and his future bride.
Christine Taylor played dating interest in it.
And this was before they met.
I was wondering that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was wondering if this,
if they would have somehow crossed paths,
you know, because things shoot.
I don't know.
know the way you shoot shows like this back then is different than how you do stuff now so like you could
wow i don't know that's something they bonded over when they first started dating you were on friends i was on friends
no way have i and then i'm like did you were you both viewers did you both see each other's episodes did
ben stiller see an episode and go like oh man she's cute or did she see an episode and be like oh that ben still still still
Fella. Yeah. Let me see. What episode was that? It was episode 24 had Robin Williams.
Why have they put them as the thumbnail? They're only in the intro.
It's just got to be because it's so freaking iconic. It's such an iconic episode.
And here we go. Here we go. Some trivia on IMDB.
Due to the unplanned appearance of Billy Crystal and Robert Williams, their conversation in the coffee shop is completely improvised, including.
joey's interruption
that's crazy like i i want to go back and look at that scene again because the way they were
talking it's weird it's like the patter of the scene the friends are trying to have as they
cut in and out it's weird it's like there is some degree of editing in that scene as i remember
there are some wides or whatever and close-ups but like they are having a slightly more
boil platey sort of like monica's trying to get a thought out and these guys just interrupt it
but uh yeah i don't remember the exact details i just remember them having conversation and leaving and then
monica was like i don't remember what i was talking about and then the cuss of the credits
this goes on to say billy crystal and robin william's appearance wasn't in the original script they were
by coincidence in the same building or the one across the street from where friends was being
filmed and the writers asked if they wanted a guest appearance this was the day of shooting
so it was just quickly thrown in wow that is freaking awesome i love that Monica
was supposed to have a line after
the two men played by Billy Crystal and Robin
Williams left, but Courtney Cox was so
flummox that she genuinely
forgot what she was going to say, so Adlib
that she forgot what she wanted to tell
them. It was perfect
because, yeah, like
that's the effect it has on us, too,
and I think that's really fun. Robin Williams and Billy
Crystal's came on the opening scene coincided with
the release of their film Father's Day
1987, which opened the day
after this episode aired.
Goodness, in 2016,
John Favreau stated that he would have liked to know
oh wait I don't want to say anything about
that we're out of Robin Williams territory
I don't know how many more times we're going to see
When Robin Williams and Billy Crystal
enter the coffee shop Billy points
towards the audience and director
presumably to tell him to keep rolling
He looks at the audience again on the way out
Did they like surprise them with this appearance?
Oh where do you see that Lisa Cudra
and Billy Crystal go on to star and analyze this and analyze that
I forget that she's in those movies
golly let's see
did the friends
cast know billy
crystal and robin
williams were going
to show up
that's what I want to know
no the main cast was not aware
according to this that Billy
Crystal and Robin Williams were going to appear in the scene
the two comedians were not in the original script for the season three
episode the one with the ultimate fighting champion
is a happy accident
and was entirely improvised
uh wow
Williams and Crystal
happened to be working
on the Warner Studio a lot
and wandered onto the set
where Friends was taping
that's great
since the producer Kevin Knight
knew the comedy duo
he spontaneously asked
if they would be willing
to do a quick unscripted opening scene
at the last minute
though taken by surprise
the main cast members leaned into the moment
Matt LeBlanc's line
interrupting the duo
so you're the gynecologist
was an ad lib
as was Courtney Cox's line
after the leave
I really can't remember
her original story
that is so
friggin wild
wild
truly that is like
oh that's that's yeah it's a special
that's a special moment in TV history
for sure and especially
if they just kind of like wandered in there that's
that's beautiful
man and them all just around them
wow and props to those guys
for uh to the core
cast for adlet like
going along with it and you know
I wonder
if there's anything on the cutting room floor
of a moment like that yeah
Yeah, good question.
Or if this was all just kind of like a single take or something like that.
Yeah, maybe they'll talk about it because I do know that there's like a friend's reunion special after the show is over.
So maybe we'll address it.
Yeah.
All righty.
Good job team, though.
This is a good ass bunch of episodes, iconic.
I see why this show is so beloved.
It was great.
All right, guys.
This has been awesome.
We're going to walk on out of here now.
It's been a good day.
It's a good day.
All right.
It's been fun.
And, dude, great reactions.
Thank you, man.
Good commentary.
