The story follows Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad), and Hans (Santino Fontana) as Arendelle is thrown into eternal winter after Elsa’s ice powers spiral out of control. We break down all the beloved scenes: Elsa’s ice palace transformation, Anna & Kristoff’s mountain trek, Olaf’s summer fantasy MV, the reveal of Hans’s betrayal, Anna’s sacrifice, and the “love-thaws-a-frozen-heart” finale. We analyze themes of sisterhood, isolation, self-acceptance, empowerment, and the musical storytelling crafted by directors Chris Buck & Jennifer Lee, with songs by Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Well, ladies and gentlemen, I want to think Prepper for Eddie and now these highlights because they edit a lot of stuff. and they are doing a really great job and musicals are a very hard thing to get around but I was wondering if there's a musical was an actual like musical with her with her? I'd be down to her name you remember her name what's her name? It's not Adina Menzel her it's
Starting point is 00:01:12 Adina Menzel right I think so. Actress who actually plays her I made a joke saying Adel Dazine at the beginning of the intro making fun of John Travolta the Academy Awards but I think it's Edina Menzel right heck yeah guys
Starting point is 00:01:28 guys my first time rewatching since 2013 and Andrew's first time watching ever this is correct so if you can leave a like on this video I say if when I know you're more than capable please leave a like it'll make both of us very happy right now and subscribe click that notification bell
Starting point is 00:01:51 every Monday is a musical animation day Andrew Greg, we have cues from the Royal Rejects. Of course, royals get the opportunity to be a part of our discussion, be integrated into our reviews. But before that, I want to hear your thoughts on this film. It's been many years, it's been out, a lot of hype, a lot of hype. What is your honest take after watching this movie?
Starting point is 00:02:22 Take it away. I'm going to let it go and riff right now, Greg. I really enjoyed the film. I thought the film does what any great animation film does. It is mature enough for adults while also at the same time being good enough for children. And I think it had some really great themes in the film about isolation, protecting those that we love and care about, sacrifice as well. I really enjoyed all the characters, even thought the film did a good job.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Even when I was making some predictions earlier on where I said about, Hans, I don't know about him. It seems too good. Having said that, because I was so invested in the storyline, I think that I didn't mind that that rug being pulled out from under me. I was, uh, also too, I think that I really liked all off, Olaf, excuse me, a lot. I think his jokes, usually what happens where I have an issue with a lot of jokes being made in a film like this with a lot of emotional depth is I think sometimes the jokes can
Starting point is 00:03:24 undermine a lot of what we are supposed to feel in these type of moments. And I feel like there was a lot of nuance and balance when it came to Oloff's character. And I think they did a really good job of offsetting with overdoing it and undermining it, as I just pointed out. So I was really pleased to see like, this is a really three-dimensional character. And as I pointed out earlier as well during the reaction in real time, I was so happy to see someone who could be so simplistic also could be so emotionally deep at the same point while still finding his way and evolving throughout the film as we were exploring the character more. That character really struck a chord with me because I've always felt throughout most of my life I'm extremely
Starting point is 00:04:03 simplistic in my own right and given recent events I feel like in a tragic way. I feel like I've evolved in a certain way. I feel like I'm a lot more of a deeper emotional thinker. I listen a lot more, except when he talks, I don't listen at all. And I feel like I was really resonating a lot with Olaf. But having said that, I just, I really love the, the sibling bond as well between Elsa and Anna. I think that really held a lot of weight. And you could really feel just the, again, the isolation. And I'm going on too long, right? Because this is supposed to be quick thoughts before questions, but I think the film
Starting point is 00:04:47 it's just a lot of times in the comments are like we just want quick thoughts, we don't want a long riff here before the questions, but Wait, what? I hear the opposite. I've heard people complain about us taking the questions. I've seen in for me that I go way too long in my quick thoughts here and to go
Starting point is 00:05:04 more to the question. I'm sure that is a massive minority. Okay, good, good to know. But yeah, I would say like I think the the core heart of the film for me, besides Olaf, of course, was the sibling bonding relationship between Elsa and Anna
Starting point is 00:05:20 and what we do sometimes to protect those that we care about. We obviously know about when it came to Christoph that he was willing to sacrifice his love in order for her to be with someone else because he really care about her and he grew that over the film
Starting point is 00:05:34 as he was developing his relationship and getting to know her and not proposing to her the same night or whatever. And when it came to Elsa, She was just afraid of hurting her and hurting anyone she came into contact with. And I think there is something speaks volumes to the testament of her character that she's willing to not be near those that she loves in order for protection. That really spoke to me a great deal.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So, Greg, what did you think? Wow, that ended. Abruptly? Rather abruptly the way it went. I had nothing else to go off right there. or I knew I wanted to segue to you, so I wanted to be ice-quick about it. Nice.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Ice. Nicely done. I typed in on Google. We are shooting a review for Frozen. What talking points should we hit? Very interesting to see what they decide to suggest here. Well, guys, that song, let it go. I understand why it is such a powerful song that has resists.
Starting point is 00:06:42 It's so multi-layered and it actually is enhanced via the experience of the movie itself, which I adored. I was surprised by the depth with this. I didn't remember the nuance that much. I thought, if anything, the nuance was very simplistic. Like, yeah, you got to accept your feelings. conceal don't feel how much more on the nose does it get than that but i actually found that with else's arc while i do think she actually has a little less screen time than on a screen time the very concept of being an individual where you do feel cursed i've met a lot of individuals
Starting point is 00:07:33 like that i have been in that state of mind you know and i really believe in that energy state of mind you ever notice when you're very stressed more stressful things just keep happening it's like you're like law of attraction exactly it's law of attraction you're you're piling it on you're the stress energy and the negative energy becomes so strong that you keep attracting worse things your thought process starts going blank on things that are important and then maybe you might need some wake-up call to make you go slow down admittedly there was some point in the movie around the 40 minute mark where I actually started feeling a surge of anxiety that lasted for about a half hour and it was a little difficult for me because I didn't
Starting point is 00:08:19 want to interrupt the video and leave but I felt like getting up and leaving for a little bit and it took like a lot of focus to be like nope you're here you got to be attention because yeah it's it's one of those nights and days where I just happen to notice a lot of things that were being overlooked and not being done with a bunch of other people's departments and try to be cautious what I say because last thing I want to do is like call someone out here or people out or make them if they happen to be watching because it's just one of those things where I had like a handful of things to do and then in the morning I had to redo my entire to-do list and it just stockpiled up and I started getting so.
Starting point is 00:09:01 overwhelmed with anxiety and and so it's one of those things where it's one thing if I can maneuver around do a bunch of machinations and da da da da da but then when I'm forced to like sit still and pay attention to one thing for a couple hours it suddenly becomes a weird challenge to watch a movie if I'm at home I definitely wouldn't be watching a movie because I'm like to handle this go to handle this going to handle this go on this so there was something about that that on the most miniature scale around the time when Anna does go to visit her at the Ice Castle
Starting point is 00:09:33 where I was feeling myself in this very moment kind of feel that way where I feel like the past couple days I've been that way where everything I just get involved in is suddenly getting worse and I had to take a second and go is it me? Is that
Starting point is 00:09:50 why things are kind of cascading right now because of my energy? Like for example I went to the gym to try to exercise off some stress, didn't do much. But I put some clothes away in a locker because I got those, like, code lockers with numbers. And I just couldn't remember
Starting point is 00:10:05 which locker it was. Oh, which locker was? I tried, I must have gone through like 30 different lockers. Like, you're at my locker, man. What do you do it here? Like 30 different lockers. I'm entering my code.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I was like, man, no, there's something. I am getting flooded right now. And when that flood happens in one's own brain. So I think there's a lot of interesting metaphors that they draw with Elsa because, yes, in the most simplistic terms, it is about love, it is about connection, it is about self-acceptance, it is about how if you don't face your feelings, they will ultimately compound and grow inside. And when you block or deny or don't take time to face what you're feeling, a lot of the time people might say, I don't have time to deal
Starting point is 00:10:50 with that, I don't have time to face it. When the reality, it's actually there. It's, it's It's not like it's gone. It's actually building up and in some ways it's going to come out through you in a different way. So I love the amount of metaphorical stuff that they were drawing here. Yeah, no, the film's pretty deep, actually, in certain areas, for sure, especially theme-wise. Yeah, I would agree with you there. And, yeah, I really appreciated all the nuances that the film was exploring for sure. I think, too, a very big one as well is.
Starting point is 00:11:27 what you just mentioned, but also to, like, what happens when you're not dealing with the feelings you are feeling? What happens when you let fear control you? That's usually why you're not dealing. Yeah, exactly. Well, yeah, I'm just adding on to, exactly. I'm just adding on to what you're saying when you're not dealing with those things is because you are letting fear drive you as opposed to allowing faith and courage and dealing with something with strength. You know, and I think it's okay to fail at something, whatever that might be. Granted, Elsa's was a different thing. She's We're going about physically hurting or annihilating people. So it's a different type of thing.
Starting point is 00:11:59 But I like the actual idea of facing things that are really scary and challenging, getting out of our comfort zone. And I think that's the only way to grow and evolve. And I've really learned that about myself in the last couple of months that, you know, when I had to literally watch my father die on a bed in front of me, what the hell else is going to be scarier than this? Nothing could be possibly scarier. Anything I have that the rest of my life could not possibly be worse or scarier than this.
Starting point is 00:12:28 So I choose to face it in the face of fear without being scared. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. I once heard a book. There's a book that I read and they boiled down. There's a whole chapter dedicated to how every emotion ultimately comes down to love and fear, every emotion. And that has stayed with me. And I read that book well over a decade ago.
Starting point is 00:12:53 And it's stayed with me ever since. And if you really think about it, almost every emotion really does come down and love and fear. Yeah, makes tons. When you break down, like anger, anger what's behind, anger hurt, and then with hurt,
Starting point is 00:13:09 where is the hurt come from? You know, it's like, you just ripple it through. Anyway, choosing those sides. And just really quickly, too, I don't remember the entire dialogue, but there was a very fascinating dialogue when you play Batman, Arkham Asylum,
Starting point is 00:13:20 when you're listening to the scarecrow's, he's talking about fear. and he's saying fear controls everything. Why do you go to the doctor? Because you're scared you're going to get sick or die. And then he went into a couple more that I can't remember. I was like, it's just very fascinating. It's chilling, but it's also true in a certain sense as well.
Starting point is 00:13:38 So, yeah, you're not wrong. Very true. Oh, yeah, the animation's good and the voice performances are good and all that stuff is really good too. Yes. I couldn't pick out some of the voice. I know we knew a couple, but there were some I could not figure out who they were. It was driving me crazy.
Starting point is 00:13:53 see we'll look it up we got some questions from the royals read the first one please christina thank you for being a royal reject and for asking us a question we appreciate you so much hi gregg and andrew my heart sank when hans was revealed as a bad guy was there a storyline that you feel could have been explored more well i think i mean there's of course a storyline that they could have explored more for sure but i honestly like the way they ended up going with it in terms of Hans was this do no gooder in terms of he was very selfish he was not selfless in any way he was looking out for himself not for anna and also too it really goes to the lesson of you need to be very careful and those you
Starting point is 00:14:43 choose to have in your personal life in your inner circle who you choose as a partner it's probably not a good idea to want to get married to someone you have known for less than 24 hours as well. So I think that was a very cautionary tale that the film was trying to tell. And I really think that Christoph was the exact opposite, not only in his personality and how sensitive he was and just a good nature type of person
Starting point is 00:15:07 and that he was also very sacrificial and how he would do anything for Anna in terms of wanting to better her life, but also, too, that she actually got to know this guy and they had a rapport with each other and very nice interactions. and I think that was the biggest thing but I was totally fine with the way
Starting point is 00:15:26 they explored the character from there and I thought again I said again and I thought that it was the right I think to do when it comes to pulling the rug from under us because again I was so saying it again
Starting point is 00:15:43 again again because I thought that we were so invested in the characters that even if you have a generic moment like that it's not as big of a deal. So what about you, Greg? I didn't think anything more needed to be explored. No, I feel what they decided to go with was just right on everything here. There's nothing here where I felt more desire.
Starting point is 00:16:08 There's questions I might have a little bit more of, like what happened with the parents exactly. I want to know the 12 brothers. Sure, yeah. I want to see the backstory with his 12 brothers. Yes. I want to see a whole prequel of Hans. He was traumatized. He had no love.
Starting point is 00:16:24 This is why he was so frozen and cold in his heart. Exactly. But no, I don't feel like it needed to do anything more. I think they did a really good job here. I feel like everything with Hans is... I think the whole story in a lot of ways is a cautionary tale about two things, not facing your emotions and also being highly impulsive with your emotions.
Starting point is 00:16:45 You have to be weary of both or at least aware of both because yeah if you don't face them you see what happens and i think that's a more obvious message but i also think the the less obvious message but it's definitely illustrated throughout the movie is to be wise when it comes to acting on your emotions right away instead of reassessing sometimes so i think what they handled was pretty good brie garcia hi brie hey y'all it's a younger sister myself i think i've always related to so much to honor in this movie. I would go to the ends of the earth
Starting point is 00:17:22 from my sister, too. How do you guys feel that Disney chose to have the plot twist and essentially just make a movie about sibling love versus the classic love interest saves the princess? I think that was a brilliant move.
Starting point is 00:17:39 If you go with the normal generic, the prince saves the, or the love interest saves her, I think that still would have been effective, but I think this gives it a new flavor of originality. just because it's something we don't explore as much. And it just really goes back to the theme of sibling bonding and isolation and what Anna
Starting point is 00:17:59 and Elsa were going through throughout the duration of the film. So I think for this particular film, it makes total sense to go this route in that Elsa was not, was literally frozen in the heart because of the love she had to, well, she wasn't being embraced with love because she was so isolated in her own right, you know, from everyone else. And she couldn't be with her sister. And she was so fearful of hurting others. So I think it was the absolute right place to go with that as opposed to. And again, we still got to explore the still got to go with the love interest with Christoph and still have the fun adventures with Olaf as well as Sven. So you still get to have that while exploring another deeper layer to something else that still. feels original and not generic. So I'm glad that they went this route. This episode's brought to you by
Starting point is 00:18:56 PrizePix. The app that made me finally understand my wife's obsession with fantasy sports. She's been obsessed with fantasy sports the entire time I've known her. And I'll be honest. I would sometimes zone out whenever she would talk stats. She'd kill me
Starting point is 00:19:13 for a minute of that recorded. But until now, now I get it. Because Prize Picks makes it simple and fun. And no, it's not gambling. It's daily fantasy sports. You're not betting against other people or the house. It's just you versus your predictions. You pick more or less on two-player stats. Like will Steph Curry hit more than five threes tonight? Or will Patrick Mahomes throw less than three TDs? It's touchdowns for you uninitiated. And if you're right, you get paid. And I'm a man all about efficiency and speed. So what hooked me is how fast it is. You can make
Starting point is 00:19:46 a lineup in under a minute in over 40 states. And it gives every guy. game that extra level of excitement when you're right that feeling can be addicting in the best kind of way so reject nation if you're ready to join the alba household you can download the price picks app today and use code rejects to get fifty dollars in lineups after you play your first five dollar lineup that's code rejects to get fifty dollars in lineup after you play your first five dollar lineup prize picks it's good to be right when it comes to disney animation I usually associate it to be more female demographic. I grew up on Disney.
Starting point is 00:20:24 I know plenty of men who grew up on Disney. Most of us here grew up on Disney. A lot of guy. I mean, most people in America probably grew up on Disney in some way. So this isn't a way to isolate men and women or anything like that. I do believe, though, that there's, you know, a thing of Disney princess for a reason. versus name me five Disney princes
Starting point is 00:20:49 Eric the beast oh yeah is he a king right he's not a prince see it's not as like easy yeah right I just know Eric and that's Christopher Daniel Day Christopher Daniel Day Barnes who voiced Spider-Man 94
Starting point is 00:21:04 but I don't I don't know we're getting lost in the weeds here Andrew my point with that is the Disney princesses are usually associated with having a prince. So when you're presenting something that feels a little bit more traditional with going back with your storytelling here with Frozen,
Starting point is 00:21:27 I believe it's a good shot, a good choice, to show sisterhood as an inspiring element versus the thing for accomplishment and healing is true love's first kiss, The idea of converting it to an act of true love is something that is not only applicable in sisterhood, but is more universal than being saved by another person via romantic life. For sure. So I believe what they decided to do here is smarter on the financial sense for their Disney demographic, their primary one. And for so many girls and women who grow up with the Disney princesses who are usually associated with the man. this is a great way to do it without also being like screw men you know yeah i think yeah and i think
Starting point is 00:22:19 also too that family means everything i like that as well and obviously don't always have to be you know intertwined with blood is actual family it's just the actions that you you know pour upon others it makes you family i think and like there's nobody in my inner circle that i would not go to the ends of the world and sacrifice myself for i know we i actually just am saying that but i really actually wholeheartedly mean that and truly resonated with me when I saw Anna who had again been isolated from Elsa throughout the duration of the film and had felt so cold-hearted towards her not to give an ice pun but you really felt like this was a really emotional moment for her her character like to give herself up so her sister could have a have a life of love and she
Starting point is 00:23:08 wanted to give that to her, and I thought that was so beautiful. Next one, please. Cody Einos, thank you so much for the question for being a royal reject. We appreciate you. Not sure if you remember how popular Let It Go was, but the composer came out and publicly apologized for making it. I'm curious, when do you guys think it's appropriate to apologize for art? I didn't know there was an apology for Let It Go.
Starting point is 00:23:35 I truly had no idea. I think if it's intentionally designed to offend people in a way that is not meant to be thought-provoking, provocative. I don't feel this composer needs to apologize for anything. If anything, this is probably a sarcastic apology. And if not a sarcastic apology, please take back your apology. There is no reason to apologize. Yeah, with Greg on that, unless you are purposely trying to offend people,
Starting point is 00:24:01 I don't know why an apology is necessary either unless there was like an accident that was made. You can say, hey, there's an accent, but I wasn't trying to purposely apologize to others, so I'm not going to apologize for that, but. Are you done? Oh. But, but.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Using a sentence says, but. I wanted to end on a butt. Yeah. But dot, dot, dot. Yes. Michael Bedina Catheria. Hey, Greg and Andrew, Frozen is a great animated film,
Starting point is 00:24:31 and I love the themes of self-acceptance. Is there something about yourself, tried really hard to hide, which you have learned to love and share openly with others now. Hope you're both doing well. Yeah, so I have most of my life been socially awkward. Greg will be the first to tell you. Most of everyone here will be the first tell you. I'm not saying I'm not still.
Starting point is 00:24:53 But again, due to recent events, I am trying to embrace being more of an extrovert. I love talking to people now, even if it's people I don't know, complete strange. I'm actually practicing a lot. I'm trying to turn it more into a habitual thing where I'm just forget practice. Hey, I see someone wearing a certain shirt. I'll just strike up a conversation, a hat, whatever. I don't care who it is. I don't care if it's a gorgeous woman. I don't care if it's a random dude. Don't care where the location is. So I'm trying to practice these things and get out of my comfort zone so I can grow myself. If I still am socially awkward, it is what it is, but at least I can look in the mirror and say, I tried. I'm trying to go to a new place and
Starting point is 00:25:37 get out of my comfort zone so I can grow as a human being. I would also say, too, that, I'm trying to think of another deficiency. I know I could list a bunch. What do you got, Dr. Freud? What are my deficiencies, would you say is another one? You're like, I got a list for you. No, man. Nothing actually spun in mind for me for you. So I would say socially awkward is probably one of the biggest ones, where I just like, other than when I'm at, if I'm at like a social event, I really just stay contained within my friends and just will keep the conversation to sports, which Greg loves to talk about and movies, but now I really love talking about other things. I want to actually get to know people. I want to like strike up some kind of a connection. I want to get to know what they enjoy, whatever the case may be. I really like understanding human beings now and really listening. I would say that's a big evolvement for me in the last few months. about you i feel like i you know it's i'm free it's weird like i i'm very i'm very open now i i have a lot of depression i have a lot of anxiety i had my first fainting incident a couple weeks ago that was crazy i didn't even know literally finding this out right now
Starting point is 00:26:58 Yeah, yeah, over compounding stress. It was crazy. Have to see a cardiologist. I'm pretty honest about things, you know, like even with the crazy weight loss, I wanted, it was a few things with the weight loss. I was wanted to show that you can declare what you want to do and do it. I wanted to show it's, it can be done with focus and discipline. And figure out a way.
Starting point is 00:27:27 and there were obstacles but i did it all natural and healthy i was really proud of that but a lot of that has also really stemmed in body dysmorphia and now that i have gotten the photos it is a whole new avenue of different types of shame weekends that i am struggling with you know so i i think that i've up here i've to put up at act for stuff because i feel like i have to and there's a time and place and i know if when you're in a position where it is like I'm more fortunate due to life success
Starting point is 00:28:03 than a lot of other people I like gonna say most people and because of that if I talk about being depressed or whatever that can usually be met rather dismissively I don't know why we do that with people it's like until they off themselves suddenly it's like we should have concerned
Starting point is 00:28:19 ourselves with Robin Williams but before you know the whole journey too you're like shut up you have everything and it's like no it's not true yeah if you have success you're not allowed to have real life problems anymore if you have a career success because truthfully i don't really know what success means and i don't feel successful i can sit back and look at it and go oh yeah i guess i've technically hit success on a technical level but do i feel successful i don't even know what success is success to me is doing what you love and being a good human being i would say
Starting point is 00:28:49 that's success to me see you have a definition i don't have a definition i'm just i just keep going trying to fill some void I just know I will be here every step of the way helping you find that yeah help me fill that voice so yeah I think being I used to not be this honest but lately no I can't really say I've also gotten really good at knowing when you know you don't want to be fucking Jada Pinkett Smith about everything and be like let's put my husband on the red table right now and expose every private life thing like you have to be selective to on what you share right at least I believe that for sure so you know I'm just I'm just I I'm more picky and choosy, but, you know, generally I kind of hide. I don't really hide. You did tell everyone I beat the shit out of Aaron. That's different. Everyone kind of wants it.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Can you clap, please? All right, from Pavel Ketch Marek. Thank you so much for being a Royal Reject for asking us a question. We appreciate you. Hey, Greg. Hey, Andrew. After Snow White, I think Disney is pumping the brakes on live action adaptations. But if they were to move forward, who would you cast in the...
Starting point is 00:29:56 main four roles i would give hans to jacob l or d did i say that right hans the jacob a lordy lordy there you i think that fits i'll take it for elsa we're gonna share this andrew to save time elsa who would you got good lord they got to be uh i would who would be elsa i'm so bad with these castings i oh the margot rabbi oh really you're gonna go that much older is that much How old was she like 20? Margo Robbie? Well, no. How old is Elsa in this movie?
Starting point is 00:30:30 Like 23, 24? What would you say? Margo Robbie is what? In 1990 she was born? So she's 30 something? She's supposed to be 21. Margot Robbie looks. She could pass for 24, no?
Starting point is 00:30:44 Yeah, but she's like 30 an actor year. So that makes her like, she's like 60 as a woman then, you know? Are we disagreeing on this, Greg? I would say we disagree. All right, Samara weaving. That's what? Much better. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:30:59 She's my default, Marco. No, Margo Robbie is the pinnacle of everything and she's the best actress. God, it sucks,
Starting point is 00:31:05 you know? Yeah. How is that with someone that good looking? So then Anna with a wig will be Samara Weaving. Yeah. Actually,
Starting point is 00:31:13 yeah, Elsa and Anna should be Margo Robbie and Samara weaving. I think that'd be a fun pairing of us. Or what about what about Elsa, Millie Bobby Brown
Starting point is 00:31:25 and Anna The redhead girl from It. I don't remember. Oh, I know you're talking about. I just don't remember. I know we just watched it. I don't know. You get the young girls from the 80s horror movies tribute stuff to be them.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Yes, that'd be great. There we go. That's my pick. And then... But for Christoph? Christoph. They chose Christoph. I would go with Robert De Niro.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Of course. Yes. Definitely with Robert De Niro. Raging Bull De Niro, though. We'll deage him. Just like, what's the Irishman, right? We'll do that. And then I would say for
Starting point is 00:32:02 Definitely Tom Holland. He should be in everything. Tom Holland could be Sven. And Olaf, you just get Josh Gad to voice him again. I'd be okay with that. I know they did that with James Earl Jones, right? For Lion King?
Starting point is 00:32:16 It's usually what you can do when you're doing a not real live action thing. Yeah. Yeah. Jaden Rhodes. I went on a big Disney kick. A few years ago, when I watched this movie for the first time for me, it was a standout for me.
Starting point is 00:32:32 I think it's one of the best 21st Disney animated movies. Do you all agree? Or are there any others that stand out better for y'all? It's definitely, I mean, of course, this is recency bias because we just watched it. I would say this stands up there. I know there was a lot of hype for me coming into this as we are 12 years now since this film was released. And I have gotten a lot of hype. up to this point
Starting point is 00:32:58 from when this was released I've heard the song God knows how many times although now I have actual visual context and the layers of which it means so I would say this is really up there for me the Disney films I've always been really up there
Starting point is 00:33:12 as well I would say Little Mermaid Beauty and the Beast Lion King Aladdin but I would put this for sure up there on top of it with those I'm giving this one high praise because this one really it resonates with me. It hit me hard.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I like the emotional depth in this film. I like the character arcs as well. I think the themes really are prevalent and I really resonate with the themes a lot. So what about you? Would you put this one up there? There's so many good ones. This is a pretty
Starting point is 00:33:45 great movie. Yeah. But we can't discount Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3, Viva La Fiesta. I didn't I wasn't going that high. I was like more middle high. Not passed there of course the underrated pirate fairy let's not forget about that of course ABCD 2 yes yes on Disney India I don't know if you guys recall that film definitely literally heard of all these oh let's hunt the Mount Rushmore oh man you can't like
Starting point is 00:34:16 throw wind or on you know the remake of Dumbo that was a pretty great one that's my favorite Tim Burton, Michael Keaton, collaboration. Well, I don't know. I need time to think about that one. If it would be like on the top of the list. Is it in your top 10? How's that top 10? I guess I would put it.
Starting point is 00:34:36 It's undoubtedly one of the top three most influential. And you cannot take that away from the movie, no matter what subjective ranking I put. I don't really know, honestly. I need time to think about it. Come on, we've got two more to go through. Okay. From Resonant Z, even if you haven't seen the movie before today,
Starting point is 00:35:01 I'm pretty sure you've heard at least one song from the movie before. Question, the movie was huge when it came out that it became a talking point, much like K-pop Demon Hunters today. I need to see that still. With that said, have you ever avoided watching a movie because you were so sick of hearing about it? I kind of might have mentioned that a few times already. Like I said, I really enjoyed Let It Go, but after 10,000 times, I still liked it, but I'm like, it's time for me to move on to a new song.
Starting point is 00:35:32 I am a creature of habit. Anyone in my inner circle will tell you that, whether it comes to food, whether it comes to women, whether it comes to songs. Once I get a little tired of it, it's time to move on for me. And for the great song, that is Let It Go, and for the great Adele Dazim, or Adina Manzel, I was, I had to let the song. song go but what about you greg i've never avoided watching a movie i have definitely
Starting point is 00:36:00 not embarked on television shows though because it sounds too daunting when the fandom is so big like x files is one i have not started because people rave about it it's forever
Starting point is 00:36:16 long i really want to watch it really do but i sound super intimidated by the process of diving into it and I would say I get it I get that feeling a lot more of a television shows the wire is one of those where people are like it's the greatest television show of all time so I feel like when I watch it I can't just casually watch it I have to make it an event at night to where I have to turn off all the lights and be completely absorbed so yeah I get that more with TV shows but I've never actually I don't think I've ever had that with a movie that's why
Starting point is 00:36:49 I haven't watched Breaking Bad it's Greg's favorite show I don't know if it's going to live up to the hype. Probably won't. Maurice Gray Jr. Did you like or dislike Olaf? He was kind of goofy even for my taste could this movie have worked without him. I feel like it actually could have worked without him,
Starting point is 00:37:05 but he's a nice addition. I liked him. I loved him. He was great. As I pointed out earlier, I really felt myself rather comparing myself to the character a lot and how simplistic he was at times. And then also he could really get deep in other areas,
Starting point is 00:37:20 especially when it came to being emotionally available, especially when he was being called in his time of need as a friend for Anna, he was willing to sacrifice himself, like someone who's so simplistic in nature that can evolve into them. I'm like, wow, this seems very familiar. And I also appreciated a lot of his comic relief. It didn't feel forced, which I always love when it comes to comedy. And as I pointed out earlier,
Starting point is 00:37:46 I also appreciated that it was not undermining all the emotional depth and all the feel that we were getting throughout the film. I liked Olaf, but I do agree with you. They didn't have the character. I still think the film would have worked, but I'm glad he was part of the film. I really enjoyed him a great deal. Amen to that.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Well, guys, keep a lookout for when we do Frozen 2. Where would you put Frozen in the Pantheon of the Disney movies? Leave your thoughts down below.
