Sick is the title of the episode. And as always, if you'd like to see, these are our fresh thoughts right after watching

Starting point is 00:01:22 And, hey, if you'd like to get some reject nation swag and put it on your body. I would be remiss not to mention that we have a new the boys inspired and by proxy GenV inspired design up in the Rejectnation shop.com store America's ass.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Go check that out along with all the other delightful designs, most of which are cultivated in-house. Got a couple licensed things in there as well. But yeah, we've got a bunch of stuff. Who influences the influencers
Starting point is 00:01:52 and Space Babies of the Galaxy and the classic tickets and child protection? services so many things go check that stuff out if you like and either way it's time to talk about a heck of an episode let's do this thing yeah yeah oh no extra white oh here must be a Oh, yeah. Off, off with your head. Oh.
Starting point is 00:02:30 I love that they solved a mystery from a boy's episode in this, like from forever ago. That's. Damn. Damn. Heads will roll. That was well directed, man. Very well directed people. America's ass shirt.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Now visible Rejagnation shop.com. Just saying, they mentioned him here. Amen. Mention him here. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:03:01 The fraught paranoia was just incessant here. I could not, I never knew what to believe. I never knew who to believe. I never, I was like the paranoia was just dreadful.
Starting point is 00:03:14 God, all accounts. I think it was like off-screen development. I've never appreciated more so now that, Normally I don't like off-screen development stuff, but that cut to when Kate and what's her name, Skeet-Allrich, Shettie?
Starting point is 00:03:31 Kate and Shetty, I'm getting better, guys. It doesn't make my word there. Kate and Shetty are there in the room like, oh my God, they had a conversation off-screen. I don't know which one is it. I love that. I don't know what. like the this is a hyper hyper anxiety episode uh it made me want to believe victoria newman yeah
Starting point is 00:03:55 yeah it was so manipulative i was like please someone be on their side no man victoria newman bad she bad that i hope she good to help them because temporarily good no she's so bad that's the one thing i've learned from everything in this show is that anybody above the generation that these kids are directly in are bad they're bad people it's bad what a great reveal uh that it was her who got her in there. That just makes so much sense. And I forgot that her power is not specifically
Starting point is 00:04:24 blow people's heads up. It is a blood control power. Which I've forgotten that they set up the powers for Marie in the boys. Yeah. I should have just put together. Head explode girl. I was like, oh yeah, her only powers is blowing people's head stuff. But no, there's a way that gets there.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Which I did not put together either. When she had the same powers, I'm like, I'm an idiot. Yeah. It felt like a revelation from the boys. Like, that's season two. Yeah. Yeah. It's so obvious. It's way too obvious. That's what's great is I love when a twist is so obvious. You're like, damn it. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Also, like, we're getting a season two of this, so it's going to be boys dealing with ramifications of that virus and then going into the further ramifications of theoretically the seven being revealed. Like, what's a God you school after the seven revealed not to be great? Yeah. Like, so this, I keep saying, what a great all year-round show have this half the year, that half the year this half the year just like cycle deeper into the world of the boys it sounds like what they're going to do at least by their kripki or somebody was out there saying gen v will feed
Starting point is 00:05:25 into the boys season four and the four will feed into genvies season two and you know they'll just hand it off i think he said it's a handoff shared universe is done right looking at you other shared universes well they do such a great job at painting out the psychology of our characters like it makes sense whether or not you agree with the choice of even someone like sam siding with you know he was alone manipulated and tortured
Starting point is 00:05:51 yeah he's like not these Trump people pretty malleable yeah yeah not these Trump people yeah yeah yeah don't worry guys yeah yeah I got it covered rallies
Starting point is 00:06:00 I'm keeping it real subtle I'm keeping him away from the politics of it no of course that the show is clearly not comic books have never been political no especially this show
Starting point is 00:06:10 no and it makes sense why Kate would ultimately do what she's doing like at the end of the day she really believes she was doing the right thing. And these are the people who are the most, who suffered the most at the hands of Skeed Altrich here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Skied? Damn you. And because of that, like, yeah, they would feel like vengeance is due. And they would feel the most like we, we have to have an uprising. Sure. Because look what these, these humans do to us. They torture us.
Starting point is 00:06:43 They control us. They experiment on us. when we have all the power and we deserve to take back the power like I get it I get it man do I agree with it absolutely yes
Starting point is 00:06:55 speaking as a person who identifies as power to myself misunderstood by society yeah yeah that was that was just really well executed on all fronts and oh why did Sam have to step outside
Starting point is 00:07:09 damn it Sam one rally one rally change I mean he's like the literal clay for that exact thing. I love that they set up his anger. I love that they set up his fragility. I love that he was literally hiding in a closet of like trying to be isolated.
Starting point is 00:07:22 And then as soon as someone's nice to him, he would be like, oh, my people. And that juxtaposing what she's gone through, like Emma being scorned, but also being a strong person for it. Like she's had the time to build up her sense of self and like what she believes in. So they're having diametrically opposed views does work,
Starting point is 00:07:38 but also they had a lot of the similar upbringing to the point, or they would have a bond, not upbringing, but isolation. and I just love how much like X-Men, the powers represent the fragility of the human psyche, like what their external power is, is their internal trauma, and the show's done a really good job
Starting point is 00:07:55 of making the internal trauma externalized through actions, powers, and the consequence of the boys, and it's all interlaced with real-world issues, which is what comics do best, I think. The way they handled Shetty in this episode, I thought was very impressive, because the entire series,
Starting point is 00:08:13 you're just like, is your full bitch? It is. And then and then you, but no, you learn about the family and you learn about the motives and then you know she's telling
Starting point is 00:08:23 the truth to Kate as well. And the homelander thing is so diabolical. Yeah. That we remember that emotional reaction to like, foe. Yeah. That was one of like the most like grippingly
Starting point is 00:08:33 harsh grim moments in tea. I vividly remember seeing that plain sequence and being like kind of disturbed by that. It was one of the best episodes of television. Period. And I will admit this show is so good. It made me go back and rewatch the pilot for the boys because I was like, man,
Starting point is 00:08:49 is it that I love what the boys has grown and flourished and all my experience with it? Or has the boys been great from the jump? Can report from the jump. That pilot is. But I just had to know. And that's how good the show is that it's making me go back. I've seen the first couple seasons twice.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Yeah. It's a really great show. My girlfriend's never seen it, so it's cool to show her. I think I'm going to do season. Oh, course, good girlfriend. I'm rewatching it with purpose. But I, it's so cool to talk to.
Starting point is 00:09:12 It's not for me. It's cool to talk to someone. Between episodes, it's nice to hear what she thinks the show is at all you talk about anymore. You changed, Coy. You know. So now that my girl was going to hang out with Jack Wade so much, I wanted to know what he was like. Just hanged out. Jack, my gosh, why don't you go shoot him with Jack Quaid?
Starting point is 00:09:36 Who, Jack Ward? She's like, I got my best friend. You're the moment. It's all like, Jack Wade. The only three people that have played superman to spy and Jack Quaid Jerry Lowe's on the Ferry Channel. But it's cool to talk to her
Starting point is 00:09:49 about like the, what her expectations are of the show while I'm in real time seeing the ramifications of like the narrative. Oh, Remifurations. Oh, he's got two out of Pousinousinous to C-Words. Do I imagine?
Starting point is 00:10:03 Meijing about machinations. Did I mention Osmore my girlfriend. No, but I think it's really cool to to experience it in a two-timeline way. and this show really does a good job. Like, it referenced a season one moment, a season two moment, a season three ramification.
Starting point is 00:10:16 It's really good at growing the world out so I can share it with my girlfriend. Yeah, she's great. It's great. She's great, by the way. No, and I'm sure your girlfriend would appreciate this. There's a really good... She doesn't have a name.
Starting point is 00:10:30 They're really good at depicting this sort of generational clash, I feel like, because especially in the moment of time, we live in right now, it's easy to kind of look up at all the authority. figures we grew up with and sort of be like this world is an ugly horrific mess in a lot of ways and you guys could yeah you guys could do a lot to depending on your perspective and which more crimes you're okay with how much you're willing to expose yourself to the truth yeah take the red pill and which truth you're getting the truth from which they do a great job
Starting point is 00:11:02 too no yeah all this stuff like it like it like it does again i feel like the as that was the thing from the jump is like is this going to be you know like really earned in terms of like how and why they chose to do this as a spinoff and i think it so far really has been nicely that and this episode certainly kind of gives you that that sense of like we need to enact a change all these things are so much bigger than us and it seems like going through the proper channels either leads to a dead end or to like the slowest progress that's going to be set back along the way so like what do we do with the mess of that victoria newman has the virus mallory told butcher presumably butcher
Starting point is 00:11:40 about the virus that exists. So now. So they're going to want to get their hands on the virus. So we're going to finally have a Newman v. But then and then Butchers But no, but the virus would be used on Newman. Newman
Starting point is 00:11:56 wouldn't want that virus out there. No, but like, but they would want to take out homeland. Butcher also has compound V in him. Does it affect people that have injected in themselves even temporarily? I mean he's he's got compound V in a in a and a like microter sense. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Also, he'd sacrifice himself. Well, it depends on how good the doctor did his job. And what kind of contagion level it is. Can it, you know, find that residue or do you have to be fully vied? Yeah, that's a good question. Theories, keyword, and Easter eggs. Do we explain this ending? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:29 You would have, I didn't really go ahead. But going back real quick, because like the thing, I think they didn't kind of, like, I like the roadmap of the Sam arc. It's the one of a couple small things of this episode felt a little bit rushed as compared to what we've done in the past. A little bit. Felt quite rushed is the one thing because his story's been so gradual over time. And I think what they depicted here in terms of, you know, you can already see the seeds being sown of his mistrust of our core group here because Emma, you know, with his best interest at heart, is trying to kind of conceal him. But with his, recent crestings like oh i'm accepted and this is also fun and i've also been to this rally that's
Starting point is 00:13:11 completely convinced me of all this stuff how many kids in college have that freshman miller right like just when they're like i've been this and these people love me like this i mean we see it with there's certain things that you mentioned and you just get in trouble on youtube but you've seen it recently with with certain real life war stuff that's been going on where people read a few things and then they go i'm very passionately angry about this now and they don't really get all information a lot of the time. I'm not saying what side, what side of it.
Starting point is 00:13:38 That's what I mean. And are already being. Whichever side you think you said. Whatever the other topic it is. Let's specify what it is. But you see that. And I think like, yes, they have established that he is going to be very susceptible and easily influenced.
Starting point is 00:13:55 And so I think they've planted it. It just, I think, in context of a show's runtime and time span. It could have been a rally and then an episode. It feels, yeah, a little bit of a conversation. Yeah. I get why the time The climax felt great And this is the penultimate episode
Starting point is 00:14:08 Which is usually that big like oh my god But it would have been nice Maybe sprinkle that little subplot a little earlier That and dude coming into the office Being like I'm gonna give you all the information You need that really bothers me But I couldn't have the rest of the episode I was like what would I have done differently?
Starting point is 00:14:23 I don't you need it like I get it But at the same time I was like whoa exposition guy It's a functional scene but it is the one thing I'm like you're all you're I'm allowing this because there's like kind of funny stuff happening But like, you're better than this. Yeah, Gen V, you're better than this because the rest of the series, I'm like, I wouldn't change that or that.
Starting point is 00:14:40 And then this episode's like, okay, we've got to have them get this information. This guy's, oh, he drinks in the room. Okay, sure, why not peasing the thing? Because it serves enough purpose that I forgive its silliness. It's weird because it's that thing of like, I feel like this show for the most part has been well-paced in proportioned. And now I'm like, should we maybe have done like nine. I think, yeah, I think there's been a nine episodes been kind of a sweet spot. But I think they, I think what they, um, managed to hide a good amount,
Starting point is 00:15:06 hide whatever flaws upon reflection are, they, they hide it with great, um, intensity. Dude, I've been sweating the last few episodes. Like, they can get my palms. They, they hide it with great like, just, like, fast-paced dread. Yeah, I put it. Because, yeah, I was, I was gripped. Like the, the editing is super sharp here.
Starting point is 00:15:26 And you both mentioned the music and the editing. And every time you pointed it out, it hadn't been distracting, but it had so good that as soon as I listened for it I was like oh right that's why I'm gripped like it's really good at being subtle until it's like faha it's like a drum beat that just gets faster well it can make me a thing heartbeat because like I was thinking I'm like her blood powers and then her singing her blood powers come up with a third
Starting point is 00:15:43 beat John I said drum beat heartbeat oh come on John there's other beats pop it off John you know uh beats by dream your feeling how beatniks that that beatnik energy you know that's sort of off the cuff a tonal flow It still works.
Starting point is 00:16:01 I respect the little caroac action. Yeah, the caro action of it all. Yeah, it's strong. And it's an episode that's rich with development. Like, as much as those things, I had those gripes, it's like, you still get like a bunch of big satisfying, we're not wasting time or dawdling kind of development. You don't know who to trust and you also fear for the choices that characters are going to make.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Yeah, you see the kind of, they've drawn a nicely complex sort of ecosystem of like, oh, these actions are like kind of good in a microcosm, but. This is going to be a whole mess. Even for Kate, like, you don't think she's a bad guy at all. But you're also like, I don't know what choice you're going to make, though. Yeah, true, it's so good. I kept trying to forgive her for the things I know she's done. I kept being like, I want someone to like here.
Starting point is 00:16:45 But that's part of the complexity that the show plays with its audience. Sure. It's a little bit of foreplay with the audience, I totally agree. Of, like, well, we don't want that virus to get out because we actually like our super protagonists in this show. But we do. Hey, yeah, but Victoria Nome and we know that she can also do bad things. Like, it's, it's, there's, there's like, yes, we want this to be stopped. But do we want Victoria Newman to be the one with this information right now?
Starting point is 00:17:12 Also, we don't want them killed, maybe. We don't want them killed. We want them to be held accountable. And like, while Homelander is killing people in public, we do want there to be some sort of like ramification. And it's, it's genius. And then also seeing, what I liked about the town hall meeting, too, is that like, while it was predominantly against Victoria Newman, you would get the voices. and the crowd who are soups like the siren girl who is very much still like not part of that rally sure that that that angry rally uh who she's the one voicing like homelander should be held
Starting point is 00:17:44 accountable for what he did you know and like a fight breaks out amongst people there and they're all soups so yeah this is all very fascinating stuff and then like the revelation of course that god you is actually a the whole time it's not that there's a secret facility it's secretly a school Yeah, exactly. We're studying them for students. I think that's excellent stuff. Now, what it needs to do is in the finale, get rid of all of its nuance, and I need either a space portal, some gray minions, and lots of punching.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Big fight. Yeah, big fight. And less of this talking. You think we're going to get a Homelander cameo? I think we're going to get at least the boys, like the boys, and we might get Homelander and like a couple soups from the... But I think we might get like... So you think we're going to get the boys, Homelander, at a couple soups.
Starting point is 00:18:28 That's it. I think Homelander runs through some point again. Cyclical. I think either like Bocher and the Boys or Homelander or both. I feel like we'll get a Homelander came. Yeah. Yeah. It'd be a big pop.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I mean, Homelander is like the mascot and would be a great, I think, conflicting character to throw into the mix with everybody. Yeah. And especially now that our main protagonists know like, No, Homelander is actually truly evil. Yeah. For the eye line, I think it's more impact. I mean, it depends on what they do.
Starting point is 00:19:01 And it could also possibly tease it a potential alliance. And what a great way for, you know, a mega corporation to use their iconic figure to make sales up on their show. Vaught Amazon. Yeah, sure. It works. Like, use the corporate imagery. Like you're saying, he's the mascot that might sell even more than the leads of the show if you have the iconography. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Homelander's coming back. I mean, yeah, in certain ways. I mean, it is sort of the Homelander show. Right. And two, like, not exactly. Exactly, kind of piggybacking off that, I think this will be interesting, because I could foresee a version where this leads to a lot of messy, like, as much as I'm like, yeah, the boys would love this. I'm also like, you know, though, like, it is, like, diabolical what it is, so I can see some really nice kind of conflicts coming out of that. Yeah, I don't think, you know, like, Frenchie would be down.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Yeah, I don't think French here would be like, let's murder them with a virus. And MM, you know, even might be like, yeah, like, as much as I got reasons to hate these people, too, like. Yeah, yeah. I can't wait. No one should have that power. No one man should have all that power. Beats by Dre. That's the other beat Nick's by Dre.
Starting point is 00:20:08 That said, I do hope the strike, you know, everything gets pushed with the boys. Hopefully we know season four soon because I do think the finale's going to leave us with like a for the boys. Like I think it's going to be just shy of a cliffhanger for season four. And I know there, Kripke's already said like this isn't coming out until everything's resolved. Yeah. What an asshole. This guy fighting for union rights. Scab for us, man.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Doesn't he know who he works for? We pay it in the streets. What are we paying Amazon to pay you for? Yeah. $9 certainly pays all of you well. Not wearing my homelander costume this Halloween. Yeah, we've been told not to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:44 But I will be West. I'm going to come to every Halloween party. Knocking on doors. I'm just a homelander from the comics. Sag police. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Make it, you put some like, find a way to put like a thick outline around.
Starting point is 00:20:57 around you so that it's clear that you are pencil drawn. See, I'm going to dress as young Simon Pegg and only comic fans will know that I'm Wii Huey from the comic. You're halfway there. Exactly. I just shave your head a little bit. Boom. Talk with an accent.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Guys, what are your predictions for how the finale is going to go down? Please go ahead. Leave your thoughts down below. Leave a like on this video. Subscribe.
