The Godfather Part III (1990) Full Movie Reaction, Breakdown, Commentary & Spoiler Review! — with hosts Aaron Alexander & Coy Jandreau diving into the final chapter of Francis Ford Coppola’s Corleone saga — a story of guilt, regret, and the inescapable consequences of a life built on violence. Aaron & Coy break down the film’s most significant moments: Michael’s heartbreaking confession to Cardinal Lamberto, the dangerous web of Vatican politics, the rise of Vincent Mancini (Andy Garcia — Ocean’s Eleven, The Untouchables) as the next generation of Corleone power, the unraveling of Michael’s relationship with Kay (Diane Keaton), and the devastating opera-house finale that seals the trilogy’s tragic arc. They discuss the film’s exploration of aging, remorse, and whether redemption is truly possible for a man who sacrificed everything for control. Featuring performances from Talia Shire as Connie Corleone and Joe Mantegna as Joey Zasa, the film carries a mournful tone that contrasts sharply with the ruthless rise of Parts I and II. Aaron & Coy examine how Part III reframes the saga as a cautionary tale — not about success, but about loss — and how its ending delivers one of cinema’s most quietly devastating conclusions. podcast thank you to huel for sponsoring this video more on them in just a bit really excited to dive
in let's dive into a movie before the internet before we had to worry about any of that let's watch
the godfather part three i uh want to thank prepper for cooking this up and making it possible to
exist on youtube while goodfellas auto plays
I got a, I got to say, there is so much, so much Italian film representation.
Yes.
Where's the Irish?
Where are the Irish?
Where are the Irish?
Like, like, we got, like, the wind that shakes the barley.
We got, like, uh, bell fat.
Like, there's like 20.
They got like a remod of films.
It was exceptional at a good time.
But it made me think, like, where is the other side?
I mean, I haven't seen it, but I know Scorsese made the Irishman.
It's not great.
It's not.
It's not great.
The part it is, though.
But yeah, well, thank you to the prepper.
Thank you to everyone that is a patron for watching this with us in its entirety.
We're actually going to check on the Patreon here in a moment to guide our conversation,
all of the patron questions that allow us to deep dive.
But before we do, while you're scrolling, initial first thoughts,
or do you want to just go off the questions?
I'll get my initial first thoughts.
You know, I've heard many of things about this movie not being very good.
And I got to say, wasn't bad.
I say I largely liked it.
You know, it was this story that was supposed to be this culminative chapter of everything we've experienced up to this point.
The first chapter was Michael Rising.
The second part was his falling.
And the third one was the fallout of him trying to change his ways after the result of the second film.
We're just some weird cousin stuff?
Yeah, some weird cousin stuff.
Was it important of the film and Integral?
Yep, sure was.
They brought it up a little.
It was not just a little thing.
No, no.
It was a very big part of the plot.
But yeah.
I think that it is definitely a different feel from the first two.
I think it is probably by least favorite of the three,
but I still think that it was largely a good movie.
What about you?
I think I expected it to be a huge drop-off,
and it wasn't a huge drop-off.
What's tricky is the bar for Godfather 1 and 2 are so high
to go from an A, almost A plus for me for both of them,
to a B does feel pretty substantial.
I expected like C-minus or less, though.
I think I expected a bad movie.
Yeah, I give the first two four and a half stars, which is extremely high.
I give this probably three to three and a half.
Like it's a full star, maybe star and a half.
Like it's a drop, but I expected like two.
Like I thought it'd be bad.
So I enjoyed the experience.
It was definitely more 90s.
It was definitely later into, you know, the action tropes and certain things that have
become the norm for the genre.
Those elements I do think definitely made it feel less authentic.
to the godfather one and two like it didn't feel as much like a third godfather as it did and i mentioned
this during as it did a film in the genre of godfather now obviously the character is a continuation
i'm talking about tone totally it felt the most disparate they felt like one and two were almost a movie
that you can intercut like you can do the prequel to two in front of one and then the sequel to two
after one like that could work this doesn't quite have the same
Honestly, opera.
Ironically, like the operatic nature of those a little different.
So I really enjoyed it.
I'm really glad we got to see part of the story.
It's definitely like a B,
which isn't a bad thing.
Just not quite to the same like,
oh, of the Godfather.
Yeah, I would have to agree with you there.
Okay, we do have some more questions.
Yeah, there's only one on the,
and we found them on the patron.
Yeah, okay, so we got one, two,
and three.
There's three in here.
There's three in there.
Okay.
I'll answer those and then see if we have any other thoughts?
Yeah.
Let's do that.
All right.
First up, just a girl.
3, 2, 9, just a girl.
Thank you very much.
Coy and Aaron for the Godfather 2.
Thank you.
Hi, guys.
First, I wanted to say, so happy to be a reject.
Thank you so much for the hard work you do.
I have two questions.
One, thank you for being a reject.
We appreciate you.
Question one.
Did Michael Corleone choose to become a monster or did the business make him one?
I think the business made him one.
I don't think you can survive.
Like, um, anytime you,
doing something every day, it affects who you are.
Any time that you're, any task, any job is going to affect everything else that you do.
If your job is to be a monster, you become a monster.
Like the business of murder and profiting off others' demise and misfortune and all that stuff is going to make you lesser.
And that's going to make you a monster, in my opinion.
Yeah, I think it's a combination of the two because the choices that you make determine the person you are.
so I feel like
again through continual choices
you do become that but I don't think that was his intention
to become a monster and then as you see in this movie
he's trying to rectify his
his actions from the previous two movies
I don't think he kills by hand a single person as well
he claims to have he said I've killed and I've ordered people to kill
but he hasn't killed within this the third film
sure sure but I'm saying generally like you know he
accepted his choices
yeah he accepted his choices
and like
yeah
Yeah, I think he was chisling through the individual choices he was making, chisling himself into a monster.
But obviously, when he sat out, I don't think he's going to be like, I'm going to be this big, bad monster.
Through circumstances and what he perceived to be his responsibilities, where he received to be his destiny and his legacy, that drove him down the path of becoming a monster and betraying the things that he perceived to have held dear prior to entering the life.
And clearly he wanted redemption for things he knew he did wrong.
But like that's just a nuanced character.
I still don't think he's a good person.
Second, did you find the sequel better or worse or just different from the first film?
I do find that people really enjoy the second.
Thanks for a fun.
So this is about the third one, but we can talk about the second.
We just watched it.
Hello, Reject.
It is now 2026.
And I've been thinking a lot about what health actually means to me right now.
And I'm sure a lot of you are too.
Last year, I made a big deal about dropping like 50 pounds, all because I wanted to get those
Dang photos and afterwards I was going to go back to like whatever lifestyle I wanted.
And you know how it goes.
Life gets stressful.
Food is my main outlet.
Especially Saturday nights.
When I say binge, I mean I binge.
Some people think like I'm doing that exaggerating.
But it's not.
It's bad.
Eating just crap until I fall asleep and then waking up the next day,
fill with regret than trying to walk it all off over the course of two days.
So instead of going more extreme this year, I'm focused on something much more sustainable.
A lifestyle I can actually maintain.
And a big part of when I felt my best
was when I was using a lot of this stuff,
like the hules and everything brought a lot from home just for today's video.
I even grab the variety packs,
so I can have more of these, like different flavors.
I really like this chocolate peanut butter one.
So you're literally looking at my rotation.
I got the hule ready to drink.
I got the bottles that I bring here at the office ready to go.
I got the black edition powder.
They got like a wide variety of flavors,
and these are my go-toes.
And I am vegetarian and allergic to dairy,
so I'm actually really happy.
really happy that this is all plant-based, created by registered nutritionists, affordable per serving,
and it removes decision fatigue when I'm on the go in a rush or when stress fatigue is really high.
So if you're like me and you want something consistent without overthinking it,
check out Huell using the link and the QR code on screen.
You can use my code rejects for 15% off orders over $50, new customers only, minimum spend
required, and yes, this is an ad.
However, this is something I have genuinely come back to.
so thank you Hewell for sponsoring this video
I still
we talked about it in the second one
I personally
like the first just a smidge more
I think Aaron did as well but I thought
they were kind of one complete giant epic
where's this one felt more like a sequel
100% yeah this one did feel more
like a sequel
I don't even know if it's say legacy sequel
because it's like there's a
obviously big major gap between the second
and third one but it doesn't feel like the gap
is big between one and two
So yeah, it's interesting because like Godfather and Godfather 2 feel like Godfather 1 and Godfather Part 2.
This feels like Godfather 3.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's definitely a sequel to the two of them.
Exactly.
But yeah, I liked it.
I can't say that I loved it.
And I think just some of the choices are really throwing me off over the course of the film.
And I'm curious to know if this is weirded other people out as you grow guys as you're watching it.
Even if you take out the cousin stuff, which is big.
it's still like not quite as quality of a film for a number of reasons.
Like it's not just that.
It's like directing choices and some of the the deaths felt a little over the top and not
tonally the movie the rest of it.
Some of the some stuff felt rushed.
Some other stuff felt too slow.
Like the pacing wasn't as pitch perfect as the first two.
Like it was a lot of stuff for me.
Yeah.
I feel like in the first two when people would die,
there was a sense of like understated class about it.
Yeah.
It was like it was clean.
It was classy.
And this one they were like,
I need our big bounced bombastic action scenes.
Yeah.
the helicopter thing.
And the third act,
I didn't feel that sense of like,
oh,
and they took everybody out the same night.
Like,
it didn't feel like,
uh,
if it was like,
oh,
it didn't connect to anyone as much.
Yeah.
Except for the Corleones.
100%.
Yeah,
I would agree with you there.
And obviously,
Garcia was incredible.
Uh,
next up we got Alan Smithy.
Thank you,
Alan.
Hey,
Coy,
Hey,
Aaron.
What was your favorite
performance
in the Godfather part three?
Also,
winner the Rijick's going to do
a reaction to the Coppola's
Megalopolis.
That reaction.
We do huge numbers.
Thanks,
would.
We'll get there.
We'll get their favorite performance in Godfather, part three.
Ooh.
I think Andy Garcia did a really good job.
I think he was here.
I mean, obviously Al Pacino was incredible.
Yeah, of course.
I think those are the two.
Yeah, I'll say those are definitely the two.
Al Pacino, especially in that last scene.
You really felt the pain and the death.
And then obviously have that classic line.
I like the cranking audio.
Yeah.
I really added a punch to it.
But yeah, the classic line, which neither of us knew this is from this.
Like, just when you thought it was out, they pulled it back in.
I was like, okay, all right.
It has its own little staple in the godfather legacy.
Because, again, I know people don't see this one as much or don't talk about it as much.
Yeah.
But yeah, I would have to say it was between those two.
Those are the really the ones that stood out.
And the sister was a cooler presence this time.
We liked the sister's performance.
Oh, yeah.
She was much more prevalent.
We both mentioned her.
Yeah.
And then Megalopolis, I can't react to it.
I went to the premiere.
I sat next to John Voight and watched one of the worst movies ever made,
starring John Voight.
I,
you know,
I saw it,
I saw it once in theaters,
but it's kind of like a fever dream.
So that's for the best.
Someone else can,
I don't need to endure it again.
I don't think Aaron wants to,
but I mean,
if you need us to.
I wouldn't mean that.
I'd watch it again.
There's so many things we could watch.
There's so many better ways to spend three hours.
But if you need us to,
Greg,
we're available.
There are people that haven't done megalopolis that can endure it.
All right.
Our last question from the patrons.
from Jay Rushden.
Thank you, Jay Rushden.
The Godfather Part 3.
Question, what plot or death seemed the best done?
What plot or death seem the best done?
Hmm.
I feel like with these movies, they kind of telegraph some of the death.
So there was, I think the sister's death, the effects of that, how people were reacting
to that, was well done.
But also maybe the subversion of, you know,
when the twins were getting killed was well done.
But none of them were like,
there is no like sunny type death.
Yeah.
Or there is no Fredo type death in this movie.
So it is a little bit trickier to answer.
Because none of them really like punch me in the same way.
I like the lethal weapon death with the helicopter.
She's right out of lethal weapon one.
Yeah.
Big, big helicopter kill.
But yeah,
I mean, a helicopter scene is probably my favorite of like, whoa,
because I wasn't ready for it.
Yeah.
And that was nice.
But yeah, I don't think anybody we really cared about died in that scene as far as like how the...
The connection was definitely the first two movies.
Yeah.
For deaths.
Yeah.
But I think of the yeah, as far as like a scene where a lot of people die, the helicopter scene is the most exciting, the most memorable murder of the movie.
Also, I thought when, what the what was his name?
Joey, when Joey died, like, you shot him in his nipples, that was...
Yeah, that was a little nip shot.
Nip shot.
That was a good death.
And this is not for this one, but Handsome Ransom is asking the born identity question that's
great. The person on your left had total amnesia.
What would you do remind him who they are? That's fun.
Ooh. Just a little flowers for handsome ransom.
For the born, I'm curious what their answers are once they watch more, once you watch
born. Yeah. Now you're ready.
All right. You can take it on the next three hours.
All right. Well, that is going to do it for the Godfather part three.
That is going to do it for our Godfather trilogy. Godfather trilogy.
Let us know what you'd want us to cover next.
There are some classics I haven't seen. There's some classics you haven't seen.
would love to know your opinion.
I looked through the other day.
I was like, I haven't seen the city of God.
I haven't seen Amistad.
There's some like classic.
I've actually the city of God.
I've not seen Amistad.
But we would love to do the Purge movies at some point.
Yes, we talk about that.
I could go for some fun.
Yeah.
Not that the other stuff hasn't been fun,
but it's nice to balance.
Yeah.
So I've loved doing these and I,
but I've been very much like,
I need to come in in a certain mindset.
Like Purge would be like, yeah, for a grillo.
Exactly.
So yeah, let us know in the comments
what you'd like us to cover.
We appreciate you all.
very, very much.
And until next time,
Reject Nation,
take a Canoli.
