Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson dive into Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween, a gritty reboot of John Carpenter’s iconic 1978 slasher classic. Written and directed by Rob Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), this remake expands on Michael Myers’ disturbing childhood before reimagining his infamous killing spree in Haddonfield, Illinois. The film stars Tyler Mane (X-Men, Troy) as the towering and brutal Michael Myers, with Scout Taylor-Compton (Nashville, Sleepover) as Laurie Strode, stepping into the role made famous by Jamie Lee Curtis. Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Halloween II) takes on the role of the obsessive psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis, while Sheri Moon Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects, 31) plays Michael’s mother Deborah Myers, giving more backstory to the killer’s family. The cast also includes Daeg Faerch (Hancock) as young Michael, Danielle Harris (Halloween 4, Halloween 5, Hatchet II) in a nod to her franchise legacy, and Brad Dourif (Child’s Play, Deadwood) as Sheriff Brackett. Key moments that fans and horror enthusiasts search for include the extended origin story of Michael Myers, the gruesome and unrelenting kills, the terrifying mask reveal, and the blood-soaked finale showdown between Laurie and Michael. Rob Zombie’s Halloween is infamous for its more violent, psychological, and raw take on the slasher mythos, making it one of the most talked-about remakes in horror history. Three, two, one.
I clicked it.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
Don't forget if you're on Apple, Spotify, five-star, YouTube thumbs up.
Thank you.
Shout out to Prepper for helping edit us down.
And if you guys didn't know, if you are Patreon,
You get the chance to ask us questions, which we will get to momentarily, just as long as we don't have anything else going on with these credits, other than Braddorf being the man.
Yeah, like, what?
That's wild.
Yeah, okay.
We got nothing else.
Nothing else.
Nothing but the mother ever hits.
Here we go.
We're going to talk to the patrons.
Thank you guys for submitting these cues.
You guys ask the greatest cues.
I think that John was very accurate and thinking this movie was awesome.
Yeah.
I'm so happy that we didn't just watch the other movie again.
Those were starting to piss me.
F off.
We didn't like those.
Okay.
Who have we got Tara, girl.
Do you feel like being the reader of them this time?
Sure, yeah.
Hell yeah, girl.
Yeah, you covered.
All right.
First question from Ronnie H.
How does the new origin of Michael Myers compare to the original movie
and which version do you like more?
it kind of is the same origin in terms of he killed one sister he didn't kill the other he's now after the original one he went to that mental institution after one of the sisters was juicing with another guy right but there was a lot of differences too like about the mom and the and the shitty stepfather what boyfriend um with the kids in school all that seeing all that was amazing yeah it's hard to say which one i like more because i think that this movie did exactly what it should do
playing off the original which is like it expanded on gave us a little bit more yes so i loved
both of them and this is a perfect perfect remake yeah i'm with you on that like i do like the
simplicity of the turning around and like the in the first film he's so little clown has the knife
you're like whoa wackadoo but the i'm i'm with you on that that like we get to build on top of that
and they still brought, like, the clown aspect back.
So, like, yeah, I can't.
I can't choose.
Like, that's an impossible question.
All right, Hugo Torres.
How do you feel about this bigger, stronger, Michael Myers?
Because personally, I like it more.
He seems scarier.
It's so scary.
Shoot, a giant, like, big foot.
Those feet gnarly.
Gnarly.
Excellent casting choice.
I'll list you on that.
All right, Garon, what are your thoughts on the shift from having my
Michael Myers in this enigmatic figure,
this enigmatic figure to the main character
and having more grounded background to him.
Hmm.
I mean...
What? Shift from having Michael Myers
is an enigmatic figure to the main character.
Oh, like he's saying he's more grounded now.
I think he's saying that in this he was the main character.
Like we're in his POV more.
Yeah.
I liked it.
Yeah.
That's what I thought about it, Karen.
I thought it was a great shift.
Yeah.
Like it's interesting, like when you're saying grounded, it's, it's interesting to see
his life as a kid.
It was obviously fucked up, right?
And so they put you in a position of feeling bad for him, even though.
And then, of course, cut to he's big old Michael Myers and a lot older, but I thought
it was really, really good because they put him in a vulnerable position as a kid in
making these decisions. Let's go to
Jaden. Okay.
I'm
curious from Jane Rhodes.
I'm curious if Rob Zombie
style works for y'all. This movie is usually
called the Hillbilly White Trash version of
Halloween. Rob
Zombie works for me personally. I've seen
this movie more times than the original one
and secretly even kind of like it better than
the original. How is this Hillbilly
white trash? Yeah, I don't
understand that. I thought
this movie was great.
and well done
That is a critique I don't understand
Literally at all
Like we're with you Jaden
And I don't know who's calling it trash
Weird
Definitely weird
Stone trunks
How do you all feel about the excessive amount of
Gour, crassness, and nudity in this film
Do you think it fits the Halloween franchise
Or would feel more in line with Friday 13th?
There was a lot of nudity
That felt a little bit more like Friday 13th
I honestly like I'm not a prude
and I don't mind nudity almost ever
but I also feel like
when it doesn't add to the story
it does distract me a little bit
because I wonder why we're doing this
and in this there was just
a lot of nudity that
to the point where I was just like I wonder
like for me as an actor
I don't know how you feel Tara but like
I
if nudity didn't add to the story
I wouldn't want to do it right so
I wonder how the actors felt about it
yeah they I mean I
definitely would not have because it's really just in these instances it's like oh we just want to see boobs
and it's a horror so we're feeding into that trope and there was like no male nudity so it wasn't balanced
at all yeah i'm actually with you on that um it it mostly always is like girls right and then the
guys just with a shirt off or something or buddha yeah absolutely absolutely but there was like
full on i mean she was nude yeah on that ground like so you know i didn't i didn't i didn't mind
it um and the the gore and stuff i didn't feel like it was more excessive than the other
i didn't think it was excessive gore or crassness just just literally the nudity yeah which i'm i'm
totally fine with i just didn't add anything for me at all yeah didn't add but didn't like
take away either yeah yeah okay um resonant z she jacks i'm completely bipolar when it comes
to this movie some days i love it and some days i wonder why they chose rob zombie question
How do you feel about the mask in the movie?
Do you like the more angry-looking mask
or the more expressionless-looking one from the original?
I think it was cool to switch it up.
Again, I just like that we have both options.
I don't, I mean, it's my first time I've ever seen this movie,
so maybe I will feel more torn on it in the future.
But as of now, I don't wonder at all why they chose Rob Zombie.
I feel like he was the perfect pick for this.
Yeah.
And I, in some of these questions,
I'm a little shocked in some people calling it maybe,
Hillbilly white trash film and then being like, why did they choose Rob Zombie?
And I'm sort of like, I liked it.
I thought, I thought that it was great and a lot of fun.
And I think I did comment during this movie that I did really like the look of the mask.
I thought it looks a little more savage.
I like them both, but this one was, I liked it.
Yeah.
Good stuff.

leon three the reason why the movie is half an origin story and half a remake of the original is because
in the early 2000s nobody really knew how to continue the franchise after the backlash of
Halloween resurrection did y'all think this was a proper way to remake the original 1978 classic and what
changes would have done to the movie.
Yes, I thought this was the proper way to make it.
Yeah.
So I don't, yeah, based on these comments, Tara, it's seeming like people didn't like
these, this.
I thought this was a great way to bring it back to life.
It's so different.
And we're watching it in such close proximity and we still loved it.
Imagine watching this decades later.
You'd be like, that's awesome.
Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Like, you're just adding more foundation to his story.
As a kid, we're seeing how he grew.
grew up why he made the choices he made like you know you're looking at i'm sort of like sid from
toy story it was like hurt and thing you're like you're like you little creep um and then and now
this is this is the outcome this is michael mire so i i don't know why people didn't like you
but i'm with you whatever um and la okay yes angela vance how do you feel about them moving all
over the place with this franchise i don't feel like they're moving all over the place
More than any other franchise
Not more than Friday 13
Not more than Nightmare on Elm Street
Yeah
I mean you're right about that
With the one thing I would say
Moving all over the place
Is the really shitty movie
We just came off of
That was moving in places
That I went
What the hell's going on?
Because the one
The last one with Lori
That we really really liked
Was like sort of an ending
And then they they remake it
Where they're like
H2O
Yeah H2O
We freaking love that
But then you know
We get to
They try to continue
you the story and now this is like a whole rebirth which I guess is it's it's not a bad idea
to bring new people it back into this movie if they're not sitting at home watching the one
that was like done in the 80s or 90s or whatever like Riley Peterson I've watched one a few times
it always makes me feel like I need to shower after I respect that they try something different
with the story but I feel like a lot of the changes kind of miss the point that said my
favorite change is getting to see what somewhat of a backstory for dr loomis and his time with
michael even at the version of lumis pales in comparison how do you feel about the version of dr loomis
i think anthony hopkins is such a great job
do you think they're going to shred me darrow oh god yeah i i think so because there was one
point where you just went it's anthony hopkins and i was like nope got to look it up
I think I said, you were like, I think his hand in the eye.
Yeah.
You were, you felt, you sat in so short.
And I was like, that's hilarious.
Malcolm McDowell's voice is Anthony Hoppin's voice.
Yeah.
So I don't know what to tell you.
He clapped his hands for me.
I like this version.
I think he was really good.
I loved the old Loomis, but he did get a little annoying sometimes.
We're like, you'd be like shouting and be like, oh, but nobody would believe him so I get why he was annoyed.
Right.
But I love this version.
It's different.
What are you going to do?
The exact same thing?
I don't understand the need to shower after.
These comments are really stressing me out.
Shower after.
I'm like, it didn't seem like there was more gore in here.
And he was like, we missed the, some of the changes missed the point.
What point?
That Loomis kills Michael and that we see that he's still alive,
that Lori gets away.
But what do you mean the point?
Like usually when you say missing the point is like there's a message and they missed it.
I don't feel like this movie missed it.
No.
I feel like we're getting all the main stuff, meaning Michael killed his family, right?
Spent his psych ward.
He's out.
He's looking for Lori.
But I mean, like the OG Dr. Loomis, I didn't love him.
He's great.
This one, we called it out when we were watching it.
It was like there's a point when he was in the car and I was like,
That felt like overacting.
I don't know why he wasn't redirected for that.
But other than that, I think he did a great job.
He's already there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, it was something where I was like, whoa, dude.
Like, this is, nope.
Tara, behind the scenes discussion for a quick second.
Yeah.
What do you want to do right now?
Do we, what, I forget what time we ended.
I'm curious about this one that they listed a bunch of facts.
So usually we just take questions and we just take one question per person.
a lot of you guys submitted two, but we asked
at least one of each of yours, but this person...
Oh, this one.
And then there's a lot of double-ups,
but we'll at least take D.K. Lounge's
facts, because I'm curious.
A couple fun facts. Michael's mom is played
by Rob Zombie's wife, Sherry Moon.
Zombie, who's been
in all of his movies, 8 so far.
Okay. That was Michael's
mom. She was very good.
Lori's friend, Annie, who's shown to be
alive, by the way, was played by Daniel
Harris, who played Lori's daughter, Jamie.
Remember I was like, Daniel Harris?
Yeah.
Okay.
In Halloween 4 and 5.
Yes, it's weird that four movies ago she was playing a nine-year-old and now she's playing
Cher's topless daughter.
But Danielle said it felt very reinventing that she didn't want fans to see her as a little girl anymore.
Well, he really did that.
So maybe she requested that much nudity.
I don't think so.
I don't think so.
But, you know, I'm glad that she's owning it and going like, I'm not a little girl anymore and I'm an actor and I am
fine with people seeing my
entire body. Like
more power to you.
Definitely after this, you're
not going to be seen as a little girl. Maybe she's
trying to push herself into a different
part of casting, which
I think you've done it. I wonder how it worked
because this was 15
years ago,
17 years ago or something.
18 years ago. Yeah.
Okay.
What do you want to do?
I mean.
Take some of more of these?
Yeah, we can do Leon three
Okay
I think that's the last one
No, we have several more
We do?
Yep
Leon three
Leone says this movie
Has many cameos
From a variety of actors
And return of Daniel Harris
Jamie Lloyd in the original series
To the franchise
What do you all think of the new character Annie?
We just talked a little bit about her
Yeah, we did
But liked her
That you did a good job
I thought that the friends in this
Were less annoying
Than the friends in the first
I agree
They were not
The girls were not mean to her
Which was good.
Ronnie H.
Do you feel like the movie has a disservice,
does a disservice to the character of Michael Myers
by giving him a sympathetic origin story
compared to him being inherently evil
in 1970s version?
I still feel like he's inherently evil in this.
He was killing animals and then went on to the family.
And he doesn't have crap parent.
Yeah.
But no, I think while the first one
explored a little bit more of nature,
this one explored a little bit more of nurture.
And I think that both are valid
And they're both
Go into somebody
Who somebody becomes
Yeah and this one did make me more sympathetic to him
By seeing like how he grew up
It was just crappy for him
You know he was in a real shit environment
Yeah that the step that was such a peo ass bro
I think that's our last
That's it now? Okay
Nope this one
Riley Peterson
Are there any change in the story that you really liked
Or even like more than the original
I think I'd
just like the foundation of seeing how he grew up and that the environment and how that has
has been indicative as to how he behaves in the world today killing people and literally saying
no words just looking at them die and he likes that i thought that it was a really interesting
choice that they had the um mom do what she did to herself because
it makes sense
then that her daughter
wouldn't know what had happened
which is different than the original story.
Totally.
That was good.
That was a good one too where she went
especially when he pulled out the picture and she was like
I don't understand.
Yeah.
You're like, oh yeah.
Yeah.
Wild.
Were you showing me, dog?
Yeah, like I don't know.
I don't know those people in the page.
She probably thinks he's nuts and he is
but different than she is.
All right.
Well, we will be back
for the second of Rob Zombie's
Remakes following two
Can't wait for that
Hope you guys like that one more than you like this one
We loved this one
So sometimes we have different takes
My brother was talking to my brother the other day
And he was like girl people don't like
H2O I was like what?
Taryn I loved that movie
The H2O we love
Too was like what I was like I don't know
Sometimes when we're in here I feel like we're in the
We're in a cuckoo land
Yeah because we'd be disagreeing with
All the fans
just so weird. It is weird that they didn't know that Anthony
Hawkins was in his movie. That's what we got a cut on.
If you're murdered and you know it.
Bump, bump, all right, later rejects.
