Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson react to the chilling conclusion to David Gordon Green’s (Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills, The Exorcist: Believer) modern slasher horror trilogy based on John Carpenter’s original 1978 classic. This finale brings the decades-long saga of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers to its shocking, emotional end — marking the final confrontation between horror’s most iconic survivor and The Shape himself. Iconic moments include Corey’s shocking opening babysitting sequence, Laurie’s emotional face-offs with Michael, the Halloween party scene, and the brutal final kitchen battle that definitively ends a 40-year legacy. Combining psychological drama with classic slasher thrills, Halloween Ends explores grief, trauma, & the cyclical nature of evil in a hauntingly divisive finale that’s still sparking debate among fans. With its eerie score by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies, Halloween Ends closes out the Strode-Myers saga with equal parts tragedy, terror, and catharsis — bringing the story full circle for one last scream. Starting point is 00:01:35 Shall we watch Halloween kills, uh, and does evil die tonight? Ha, ha, ha. Yes, yes? So, yeah, baby. All right. All right. Oh, my time. Ends.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Okay, since I was a reject nation, we just watched Halloween ends. It's the end of this franchise. It's Halloween number 13. and we would love to know from you guys how you felt. So don't forget to like, comment, subscribe. I didn't know you still do at the end. Ring the bell. Why don't you tell me?
Starting point is 00:02:11 Why don't you tell me you still ring the bell at the end now? We haven't been doing it and I missed your ring the bell. I miss it at the beginning. I think we should petition to bring it back. If you're on Apple, Spotify, give us those five stars. Huge shout out to Prepper. These horror movies are an absolute beast to add it down and make it so that they can,
Starting point is 00:02:28 in any way, shape, or form be monetized on YouTube. So thank you guys for doing the Lord's work. And also, just one more shout out to the six sweatshirt, which is the only reason why I didn't get hypothermia during this reaction. Absolute gangster stuff. Love, love, love, love this. Okay, Tara.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Yeah. Before I even ask you about this specific movie, we just finished one of the biggest horror franchises of all time. Yeah. watched every Halloween movie. Forgive me, audience, if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's been any TV show of this. So I think we've seen every now live action
Starting point is 00:03:08 Halloween thing there is to see. How are you feeling about this franchise? I mean, I get why it is epic. Even though I wasn't in love of this movie at the top, I did feel the pacing a lot more at the end. It took off a little bit. And of course, throughout this whole, journey through all of these movies they haven't all been great but the michael myers part is
Starting point is 00:03:36 amazing like i'm like i get it and especially when obviously when jamie curtis is in it it does up the level of them i mean we've already said that about the films but like i get why people love this because i i do too even though there are films in here that i would never watch again right yeah i agree with that. I think overall, this probably was more solid than the nightmare on Elm Street or than the Friday of 13th franchise as a whole. Like there was, while there was movies in this that I didn't dig a ton. In general, I found it to be, even though we're all over the place with continuity in terms of different timelines, in general, I found that I liked more of these movies. Like, I feel like of the Halloween movies or at least half of them that I was like,
Starting point is 00:04:23 I dig this movie. Totally. So that's kind of interesting. Absolutely. Let's jump into this specific movie with Halloween ends. How do you feel this ended the trilogy? Or I guess it's more than a trilogy because we are pulling from Halloween one as well. Right. The most recent, the 2018 Halloween, then Halloween kills and then Halloween ends. Do you, are you enjoying that little trilogy and do you think that this was a good ending for it? I mean, I am.
Starting point is 00:04:52 I do think like, I like the ending of them like, well, he's not dead enough. I'm like, yeah, he never has been. So if you're going to call it Halloween ends, how are we actually going to end him? So I did like that they threw him in the car cruncher thingy. I thought that was fun and good to see. The rest of it, I thought it was weird with the kid. That was cool.
Starting point is 00:05:10 But there were, for some reason, this movie and the pacing. Sorry, the kid that wanted to be him. I thought that part was like weird in seeing that Michael saw his life when he was strangling him. And we hadn't seen that before. it felt like because they didn't if they were trying to show us that that was the kids life flashing before his eyes they didn't do that right they made me feel like michael could see his life and that's why he let him live uh i thought that was weird because we hadn't seen that before um but um overall i like i i still had a lot of fun with the with the end i just felt the time a little bit more in the beginning actually i think i preferred this movie to the first time that i saw it because of our a Halloween binge. Yeah. And going back to when Michael touched his niece, Jamie,
Starting point is 00:06:02 and I believe it was Halloween 4, where he touches her. And then she at the end, we see in her POV where she goes to off her mom. Yep. And she goes, cuckoo. Uh-huh. But then for Halloween 5,
Starting point is 00:06:14 we think that we're going to get that. And then we strip it back and they're like, actually, Jamie's gone mute and all this stuff. I feel like this movie would have been like, but what if that didn't happen? What if this person really did go crazy? Yeah. like that and so i feel like this was an ode to paying off something that audiences had been waiting on so i
Starting point is 00:06:32 feel like now that i had all the context and maybe that's just me putting in my own you know well no it makes sense i mean we've yeah it was cool to see i also like you said in the middle of this and i think this is why it worked for me more than it didn't the there was real legitimate chemistry between the r2 league yeah wow yes so that was that otherwise i would been like why is she care about this dude but like there it was palpable they had a yeah vibe totally not enough Michael because yeah from this to be a Halloween movie
Starting point is 00:07:05 and Michael to not be our lead villain that was a little bit of a bummer yeah and also I really felt the absence of Judy Greer's character really missed her in this and would have loved to see her in this so so I feel mixed on this definitely prefer it to Halloween kills yeah but didn't like it as much as Halloween 2018
Starting point is 00:07:24 me neither I mean I mean exact same place. All right. Shall we jump into some Patreon questions? Let's do it. I'll clap. I'll do. All Spark Studios. Halloween ends. It's very bizarre and out there sequel. What are your thoughts on Cori? Do you think he should have been there since the beginning of the trilogy or just not there, period? I think that I think if they knew they were going to go where they were going to go with this trilogy, which maybe they did, but I would be shocked if they knew where they're going to go and didn't put Corey in. Exactly. I'm with you on that. Remember, we had a whole cheating boyfriend. Like, we could have...
Starting point is 00:07:58 Totally had it been him and then he kills somebody and then he changes and that's why they still are in love, but whatever. So I think that, yeah, of course, hindsight's 20-20 and if you plan out your trilogies, you don't have people be super annoyed, cough, cough, Star Wars. But I think that they really, they could have added Corey and it would have made it more poignant. I don't think that he shouldn't have not been there, though, actually, because I remember the first time watching his character really bothered me and I was like kind of
Starting point is 00:08:24 confused on why he existed. But this time, I really got it. Like, I got why they put him in there. Yeah. Me too. Definitely. I mean, it was a, uh, kind of a cool thing to see, especially because right off the bat, even when he was babysitting, the first thing he said, he's like, we're going to have fun tonight. Like, and we both are like, that's creepy as hell. But then, but you loved him. I did. And I loved him. And so you wanted him to be Harry Potter. Exactly. I really, really did. And so now It's set up where we're like, we would juice him, but he's cuckoo. But cuckoo. He's cuckoo bananas.
Starting point is 00:09:00 And then I'm still trying to decide whether Michael gave him the juice when he strangled him. But I don't think so. I think he just saw he's a killer like me. And we gauge that from the top. It's possible. I don't know which way. And I like that it's kind of open for our interpretation. Can you barrel through?
Starting point is 00:09:16 Yeah. Mad love. You want me to read him to or just. I really do. Mad love. Mad love. Halloween ends. You made it.
Starting point is 00:09:22 The question of the hour. How do you guys feel about this? The final entry of the timeline. Do you think it did this particular timeline justice? If you notice, this trilogy mirrors the first three films of franchise in small ways. First being about Michael escaping, making his way back home. Second, keeping Lori in the hospital. Third, wanting to separate itself from Michael Myers.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Personally, this makes the love of the film because it shows how they wanted to give an ode to Carpenter's original idea while mixing it with what ended becoming the franchise, Michael Myers. David Gordon Green also said the film took inspiration of many. Carpenter's films. I mean, I guess you could describe it like this, Madlove. Thank you for the question. But I don't think that this film wanted to separate itself the same way that the third one season of the witch did.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Season of the Witch had no Michael Myers. This definitely had Michael Myers. Yeah. And it had like a lot of Michael Myers. It just didn't have as much as one or two. So I don't really feel like this one as much as an ode. Even though he's not our main villain, he is a significant part of the movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:23 And Season of the Witch, we only see him in one. second on a TV screen so was that the name of the third one season of the witch reason of the which yeah I think it's season so but to your first part how do we feel about this is the final entry I think they could have made some stronger choices if they had planned things out from the beginning so such as having it just be one boyfriend through line which is either Corey or that other guy if we didn't snap his neck so that I I would have liked to see a little bit more of Will Patton's character in this, the, you know, cherry blossom. And we didn't get that much of him.
Starting point is 00:11:00 And we spent a lot of time with, like, other people that I didn't care as much about. But in general, I do feel like this gets a bad rap and it doesn't deserve as bad rap of a rap as it gets. Yeah, I agree. I still had fun. And, like, Michael is still in it. And it's fun to see Lori really get in there. And, like, she kind of puts him the knives.
Starting point is 00:11:21 and like that's how he holds him down like that stuff's fun after she like really i think slice his throat he still pops up that's a cool michael meyers thing um i don't get the ode part because i do agree with rock said like the the witch movie i think i very much did not like um i think i said that yeah this one a lot more fun no lori no michael not of a hollowing movie to me exactly deandre how do you pitch a reboot continuation there's franchise going forward or should this truly be the end so i think we might touch upon this a little bit on today's podcast where we're debating doing some um pitches but i'll just say this i have not let go of holloween h2 oh i love that movie so much and i would be willing for us to completely do another timeline where we continue josh hartnett
Starting point is 00:12:12 and lori strode together because we ditch timelines all the time yeah we did so let's come back and see what if we continued after the school Yeah. And honestly, if Jamie Lee Curtis didn't want to be in any more of these, I hope she did. But I would love to see a Josh Hartnett Halloween movie. Yes. Let's just see it. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Like he gets married, has kids, but then Michael's back. And he's like, I'm going to f you up. Totally. And then maybe even there's just like a tiny Lori appearance or whatever. Like my mom taught me this. My mom taught me this. Exactly. Because we were so into that timeline.
Starting point is 00:12:44 We totally were. I think that his girlfriend at the end of that, if I remember, I think she lived too, maybe. So we could have. And they were leaving. together whatever there was more stuff to be done that but i do i do agree with that um and uh i don't i don't know i have i have to think on it i do like that reboot um we share a brain terra so just be in on it yeah i'm just i'm in on that i'm gonna steal that one i'll get back to you later deandre but just check out our our pod when it drops on Halloween you'll see i've been hearing about mint mobile
Starting point is 00:13:16 ads for years at a certain point i realized i was the only one in america not saving money with Ryan Reynolds. Full FOMO, my friends were bragging about, paying only like $15 a month while my old wireless company was charging me enough funds to fund my own independent movie. So I finally said it. Yes, to saying no. No contracts, no hidden fees, no nonsense. MidMobil's entire thing is simple.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Premium wireless starts at just $15 a month. You get unlimited talk, text, high-speed data, all on the nation's largest 5G network. You can keep your phone, keep your number, and switch instantly. using ESIM. Not only did I switch, I stayed because I was getting the same coverage I had before, but now for a fraction of the price. Did the math. Can have hundreds of dollars a year back in my pocket. Back in your pocket. You can do it too. That's vacations, PS5 games, or your entire streaming services bills paid for the whole year. So stop letting big wireless drain your bill every month. This is literally your sign to switch. Go to mintmobile.com slash rejects. That's
Starting point is 00:14:19 MIMMobil.com slash rejects. Link in the description box and pin comment. And because we're talking about finances, I should say. Offron payment of $45 required. Equipments to $15 a month. Limit time. New customer offer for first three months only. Speed may slow about 35 gigabytes on a limited plan, taxes,
Starting point is 00:14:29 and fees. Extra CIMMobile for details. Thanks, Minmobile for converting me. Jaden Rose, this movie is marketed as Michael versus Lord, but we only got 10 minutes of them going at each other. But instead, we do this thing that pisses me out. We got a character like Corey who could have worked if you set them up in kills, but you didn't.
Starting point is 00:14:44 So we are stuck watching this movie, waiting for Michael to leave this dumb sewer drain. This may not be the worst movie. But it's definitely one that left the most disappointed. But I'm curious, do y'all like the movie? Or do you all like the character of Corey? So it seems like a lot of the fans are sticking point with Corey. And I totally get why.
Starting point is 00:15:01 We had a whole trilogy. We introduced a new character. And he has the most screen time of anybody in this movie. And Michael is in a drain. So I think this is so fair. For some reason, it's still his character, even though it would have been better with more, it still kind of was working for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Yeah. I don't think like it made me probably as angry as you, Jaden, but, you know, there was a point where in that movie, I was like, well, okay, I get it. Like, what's going on? Why are we spending time with this kid? But once they paid it off that, like, he has a Michael juice in him, I'm like, okay. But I do agree with you that we all were still waiting for Michael to leave the dumb sewer drain.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Like, well, where is Michael going to pop in? And he really just comes in, really at the end. I would have preferred to see a little bit more. Yeah, and like, why is he cool with Corey? Exactly. Like, not just a weird flashback of like, oh, wow, I've seen his life and I'm going to let him live. I'm like, and then he seems like he's the, Corey seems like he's the curator for people. He brings him in the sewer and then Michael gets to kill him.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And I'm like, maybe we should have seen that a few more times. Yeah, also, like, Michael is not usually as selective about who he's killing. And so there's this unhoused guy who's living outside the drain. Yeah. Why is Michael never come and drag him in? Exactly. He's afraid to leave the sewer or what? So there's more that we could have done, but I still, I did like this.
Starting point is 00:16:28 I didn't love it, but I did like it. Yeah, I'm with you on that. Jay and Gwynn, hello, scream queens. Now that you finish the new trilogy, do you see Michael as a human or a supernatural? The writers were pretty insistent that he was not a supernatural being. But given everything it took to put him down, what do you think? Yeah, he wasn't it. Are you kidding?
Starting point is 00:16:48 I mean, come on now. The riders were pretty insistent. He's been killed and shot so many freaking times and fallen off so many balconies. Like, he has a bit of a supernatural factor. We don't have to be like he's a freaking full-on alien, but give me a breakwriters. If you're looking at the hole of where this started
Starting point is 00:17:10 and where we are now, she sliced his throat and he popped right up. So I don't know what you're talking about. I think it's somewhere in between. Like, he, I understand why they don't want us to think he's supernatural. Right. But when somebody, for the whole franchise, I mean, he's been shot 4,000 times. Yeah. And stabbed and, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Maybe just like superhuman. Superhuman, yeah. That's good. I go back to 50 Cent, who was stabbed and shot and all the things. It's like some people just got it. But this man, he survived too much. Totally. The whole fire.
Starting point is 00:17:47 A lot. He survived a lot. Chase Lee, is this how you would have ended the Lori story? I'm kind of hoping that it's not over. But I am happy that she survived. I wouldn't have wanted her to not survive. Yeah. Me neither.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Did you think she might kill herself? I was like, I mean, that was like even before or when she was going to get the gun, I was like, oh, I think she's going to kill herself because the dog. In my brain, she's with the granddaughter left. Like, she's with the killer. We have no hope. I really did. I was like, maybe she might do it.
Starting point is 00:18:23 I don't know. I mean, I like the ending. I like that she shoves him in the freaking car thing, and that looked awesome. And that would be a way to put this guy, this crazy, half supernatural, half human guy to death. So, I mean, I like that she got that moment. I don't know how else I would have, you know, gone with it.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You know. Stone trunks. Evil finally died tonight. So she checks after having watched all the movies. What timelines would you say is your favorite Thorn timeline? H-1-6, H-20 timeline, H-1 Resurrection, Rob Zombie Timeline, or the new timeline.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Dash is saying like H-1 through H-6. Oh, yeah. H-1 through Halloween Resurrection. Okay, so do you want to take this one first? You want me to tackle this one first? You could go for it. All right. So here's what I'll say.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Tara and I tended, we tend to dislike the franchises later on in the timelines. Like Halloween 1 through 6, 3 isn't really involved in that one because Halloween 3 was season of the witch. So it's Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Yeah. And while we loved 4, we didn't love 4. we didn't love 5 and 6 as much. H2O timeline we were pretty cool with. Halloween 1 through resurrection we had a lot of issues with Rob Zombie timeline.
Starting point is 00:19:49 We loved the first one. Didn't like the second one. And the new timeline we includes Halloween 1 and then goes, it ditches Halloween 2 because we ditch the sister stuff. Then we go to Halloween 2018 and then we do Halloween kills and then Halloween ends. And we liked all those movies except we did not really like kills. and we're on ends. Yeah, so the first two of that were pretty great, though.
Starting point is 00:20:14 I feel like, yes, totally. So I feel like maybe H2O timeline is our favorite because it's a shortened timeline. Yeah. But that's with the Josh Hartnett movie that we loved. Exactly. But there's highs and lows in each one of these timelines. There really is. Yeah, it's a good question, but it's like, I don't.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Yeah, that's a tough one. I wish that it was just like H1 and then, Maybe, like, you put two, four. I don't really. I would have to look for with Jamie at the end. We loved that. But then the next one, it was like, never mind. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Like, if we went there to H2O to, like, 2018, to the next one might have been baller. Last one? Yeah, last one. D.K. Lounge, now that you're all caught up on the movies, how would you compare the Halloween franchise with Friday 13 or she already actually answered that? That's hysterical that you asked. A good question. Because I clumped those ones together, too, but it's so weird because we did.
Starting point is 00:21:09 We've already also watched the Purge franchise. Yeah. We've watched the Chuckie or Child's Play franchise. We've watched so many franchises. It's interesting. Those are the three I asked about that you said. And I feel like the other thing that will be clumped in that is scream, which I'm sure we'll get to eventually.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Yeah. Even though I've seen some of those movies. Have you seen some of those movies? I think I've only seen the first one, none of the other ones. So I don't remember any of them except for the most recent ones. But we talked about this. and I think that we prefer it to do those overall. For sure.
Starting point is 00:21:42 But I think that Friday the 13th, The Nightmare on Elm Street, their original movies might be better than Halloween. I'm with you because, oh, my God, some of that stuff on Nightmare and Elm Street when she's up on the freaking roof and the face, the practical face coming through the wall. I mean, I'll never forget those things because that's wild.
Starting point is 00:22:03 So, yeah, I agree with that. Yeah. I think that's, their OGs are all good, but I would, I would agree Friday 13th Nightmare and now maybe, maybe have an upper on Halloween 1. And the Friday 13th stuff with the mom being, coming back at the end with the crazy mom Friday the 13th, one and two. Crazy mom. You don't remember of the kid of Lake Boy?
Starting point is 00:22:27 Oh, thank you. Dude. That, that after's up too. Wild. Yeah, so. Dude, Swamp Boy coming up. Yeah, you're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Oh, God. So I think that those were stronger, even though I did like Halloween. Well, we'll talk about it more in the rankings, but I think that's what we have for today. Yeah. I think this is probably dropping the day before our ranking. Our ranking video. So if, oh, good timing by us. So while you're watching this, mark your calendar for tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Tara and I are doing an entire Halloween ranking podcast. We'll have some fun games. We'll talk about the order of the franchise. do our definitive ranking and we need a lot of likes a lot of comments because we'd like to do more for you but we need to get oh high high high ass engagement good views good likes good comments so come and support i don't want to say it but this is another chucky situation we're in your guys hands it's do or die time so go over there show up yeah show up for sure yeah yeah anything else bib before we move on to our next franchise love you guys thanks for supporting us all right i agree
