Don't you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life?
You know the same way you can skip an ad?
I get it.
I'm Siaia and I live in Ice Cove.
I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned.
And today I'm still figuring it out.
Somehow things usually get worse before they get better.
Apparently, that's how I roll.
So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride.
Stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC Gem.
When West Jet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different.
People thought denim on denim was peak fashion, inline skates were everywhere,
and two out of three women rocked, the Rachel.
While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get
when WestJetting welcomes you on board.
Here's to WestJetting since 96.
Travel back in time with us and actually travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years.
Citizens of the Halloween nation.
My name is Jackie.
I'm John.
I'm John.
And we are back to watch Halloween too.
Do you want to do it more time or do you like?
No, we can keep it.
Let's keep it.
Guys, let's keep it.
Because we're going into this reaction with open minds and hearts.
And I'm actually, I'm really, really, really excited to go back to the original sequel.
There we go.
We just went through the new trilogy that recently came out.
The other alternate timeline of Halloween.
And we had mixed feelings about it.
So I'm excited to go back to the OGs, the John.
Carpenter original timeline.
How are you feeling, John?
It's a little hot near, but I'm going to relax, and now the Halloween theme is stuck in
my head because Jackie was singing it the entire time before we started recording.
How are you?
The cat remix?
No, go ahead.
I'm getting over a little cold right now, so if my voice sounds a little stuffy or I cough,
I'm so sorry in advance, dear viewers.
I think you're okay.
But I'm feeling good.
Good.
All right.
Shall we?
Let's do it.

More on them in just a bit.
Well, everyone, we just watched Halloween 2.
But now before we get into our opinions of it, I'm just going to take a quick opportunity in.
Give a little plug to our Patreon.
Me and John are both wearing our awesome merch today.
I just got this shirt.
Yes, finally!
It's so, I know, I've been waiting for this week.
This one's really soft, and the crop length comes down below the belly baton,
which I think is nice.
But a very flattering fit, very, very soft.
There you go.
You can get those at.
Rejectnationshop.com.
Rejectation shop.com.
And if you join our Patreon, you can get a bunch of perks such as 15% off of this awesome merch.
Greg and John do some exclusive content over there.
You can also chat with each other.
and also

and we have a great community
out there so.
Yeah, it's a fun community.
You can also see a full schedule
of what we will be covering
and you can sync up with your own copy
and watch a full unedited review
of our whole,
all the movies.
Sorry,
I am a little sick of everyone.
Sorry, you're good, you're good, you're good.
But anyway, so
that was a big reveal.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, man, I don't know.
I, the weird, I don't know how I feel about the sister, I mean, the, their siblings.
It creates a very interesting lore and it kind of doesn't really spend a lot of time there.
Because they just reveal it kind of.
And that's it.
They reveal it and then they have like one face off moment.
Yes.
But they don't even like this.
He explodes.
Exactly.
So I don't know.
This movie was fun.
It was still entertaining.
Whoever directed it, I know it's a different director.
I enjoyed how they use suspense.
which is pretty cool still and the POV switch up that that was an interesting choice it was cool to see like a contained story within one setting which was the hospital but ultimately yeah this was to see this as the as the sequel the original sequel in a different timeline uh yeah i i liked it i think i liked the 2018 as a sequel better
just because it doesn't...
Yeah.
I really like the 2018 one.
Yeah.
It was the second two that...
Yeah, yeah.
No, I agree.
I agree 100%.
Yeah, I think the sister thing...
I understand that they are trying to do a big reveal and explain it.
I just think that it was so...
The moment that the scene that it was in was one, like it was very glossed over.
It felt like a little rushed and it felt kind of just like forced into the script.
I agree.
I thought it could...
I think the idea could be really...
interesting if it was done in a different way.
Like the flashback, I'd like the flashback.
That was interesting. It's just the
scene that it was put in was kind of so
boring.
I agree. I agree. And underwhelming.
Yeah. And also, I don't know.
I feel like, so on my deep dive,
I found out that so apparently John Carpenter
when he was young, he moved to Bowling Green,
which I'm pretty sure. Oh, interesting. Yeah, he moved to
Bowling Green and part of the inspiration behind
him writing Halloween was that he was
so shocked when he was growing up that kids that he knew from school and just like how adults
that he knew around how regularly like and matter of factly they would talk about doing really really
racist acts. Oh interesting. Okay. And how it was just so normal. So that was part of the
inspiration of like kind of like showing this very any any town USA, you know. I see. Right. And how there is
this subtle like rot between what seems so, so normal. And I feel like that.
that's what makes Michael Myers so scary is that there is no reason in the first one for him to just be doing this.
Yeah.
You know, and going after Jamie.
So making it, making it so that they're related and that he wants to kill the other sister, I feel like it kind of undercuts what makes the first movie so effective.
I agree.
You know, so I understand why in the modern day they were like, let's, no, definitely.
Yeah.
To get the backstory and to make Lori related makes, yeah.
I think it cheapens it.
Yeah, a bit.
It does cheapen it.
And yeah, Michael Myers being primitive and just like an animal, but they explain, it kind of clashes, in my opinion.
So, well, yeah, because that's the thing is that I like the, I almost like that he's like an animal thing because it feels very like childlike and like he was just born evil.
But then how come he's so methodical and like setting up these like intricate traps?
Yes, yes.
I like it better when he's.
just like burst through doors.
Yeah.
You know?
And just kills,
just with the sake of killing.
Definitely.
Interesting.
Okay, we have a bunch of questions.
You have anything else
before we get into these?
No.
I have a feeling that...
Let's get to it.
These might cover some of our other questions.
Absolutely.
Yeah, let's do it.
All right.
Daniel Gehan writes in and says,
Hi, Dan.
Hi.
It says, I'm glad to see you're going back
to the original series
and hopefully pick up on many things referenced
in the Blumhouse trilogy.
A little bit.
I've always loved Halloween too,
even though John Carpenter loaves it.
He always felt Halloween should be standalone.
and admittedly wrote this movie drunk.
That's funny.
That's awesome.
Having seen this in Halloween Kills,
which Lori is stuck in a hospital bed movie,
do you prefer?
Ooh, so kills and then two?
Yes, kills and then two.
How do you feel?
Crap on a business.
What were the other main thought points of Halloween kills?
We watch them so close together.
Yes, definitely.
Plot points.
La la la.
Okay, fire escape, vigilante mob.
Oh, yeah, the mob.
The mob and then, yeah.
Halloween dies tonight.
Childhood home.
Ends tonight.
Ends tonight.
It, Michael's something like that.
Well, that one was just like a big mob.
Oh, God, I don't know.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They were like, they were all chasing
and trying to protect the town.
Yeah.
And then they wrongly kind of,
of corner that one dude.
And then he kind of...
I remember that the mob really made me upset.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
But also in this one,
the sister thing really made me upset.
Yeah.
Right.
I liked the use of the hospital as a setting
a lot more in this film.
I think if I'm going...
I think that I actually would prefer this film
if I just omit the sister thing.
I agree.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Final answer.
Fair.
No, yeah, I like how, okay, so this is the one thing I can appreciate about Halloween kills is it seems like an action movie.
Like it seemed like you see Michael Myers just offing people like crazy.
This seems more like a scary horror like film because the, yeah, remember in Halloween kills, we see that one woman who gets, she has a gun and then the the door hand, the door.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
And we just laugh.
That was so annoying.
Oh my God.
Oh my God.
I forgot about that.
So like.
And those kids pissed me off.
Exactly.
Yeah.
So like again, Kills has.
Like this scared me.
That Halloween Kills pissed me off.
Yeah.
Kills has its has very, very small kind of moments.
This one is cooler outside of the, like the family relationship thing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This is a little more dreary and scary.
But yeah, I don't know how I feel about him.
being more methodical and be like, I'm going to puncture the wheels of the car.
And then I'm going to cut the phone line.
I'm like, all right.
Now, he's really, like, he's trained.
So, yeah, I prefer this by like a notch.
Yeah, because the deaths in Halloween, hello?
The deaths in Halloween kills were they not as method.
It was a little pretty, it was crazier.
He was a little.
Oh, he slashed, slash, stabbed, stabbed, mangled neck snap.
No, it was very much.
like,
Right.
Oh,
yeah,
yeah,
yeah.
The one thing I like
about kills.
Yeah,
so I like the
kills and kills
more.
Yeah, no,
definitely.
Oh,
it's a modern audience,
right?
Um,
we get big John
and little John,
that's a little nod
to me and John Humphrey,
which is pretty cool.
Yes, that's true.
Uh,
but also,
that's like one redeeming quality.
It's very personal.
Um, yeah,
because it,
yeah,
because also like,
that plot point
just felt kind of thrown in there as well.
Just for like comedy sake.
Just for like comedy's,
yeah,
yeah,
yeah,
She'd be like, look, there's gentrification now.
Yeah, exactly.
No, right?
Because we're in the future.
Exactly.
I mean, yeah, Halloween to, I feel, again, it's just a notch better.
Yeah.
Yeah, I agree.

There you go.
You want to take the next one?
Yeah, you got it.
Oh, wait.
Oh, yeah, that's all right.
I was like, where are we?
Anna Karen asks, hello, double Js.
Oh, I like that.
Hey, so we find out on this timeline,
it turns out the related.
Allegedly.
I don't know, yeah.
We're bumping into that.
Before the reaction, were you all,
were you all aware of the detail
or you all come completely blind with this tiny twist?
what do you think of the version of Michael
and Lori being siblings?
I think we shared a little bit, but go ahead.
Yeah.
I wasn't aware of the sibling thing.
I was aware that in the sequels,
that they kind of try to explain
why he's evil more, or in the original, I mean.
I don't like it.
Fair.
Maybe with a different script, I would like it.
Yeah.
But I don't like it, finally.
You hit the nail on the head.
I think if it was,
was written and executed
better, I think I'd lean towards
it. But how it's executed
in the film, it seems like a throwaway.
You said it was forced.
Yes. And like, yeah, she comes from
she comes out of this like drug
induced kind of coma or like
not coma, but like this weird dreary
dream and a suppressed
memory of them being related.
Which I liked that part. Very cool.
I think if they kept repeating it and showing
it and like she comes to realization,
I think that would have been cooler and spent more
Make it longer than one night.
Like make it like they force her into therapy at the hospital.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, that's a good point.
Yeah.
Like that's cool.
Mm-hmm.
I think I feel, I just feel like at the end of the day it feels very, very apparent with this script that it was something that they threw in and added and not something that when they wrote the original script they had in mind.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, from the previous question, knowing that John Carpenter was drunk, I could see someone drunk being like, what if they're related?
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
So I didn't know the twist, but yeah, I'm bumping into it.
Again, the one thing that would fix it if they executed and wrote it better.
But otherwise, yeah, that's my thoughts.
All right.
Okay, cool.
Leon O3, hi Leon, writes in and says,
this movie is part of the real slasher trend from the 80s.
In particular, this film came after Friday the 13th part two.
Oh, you called it.
And the movie was originally shot bloodless
Like the original by its new director
But John Carpenter did rewrites
And re-shot a couple deaths with more blood
And added the pointless kill of Alice
The teenage girl that was home alone in our house
In the beginning
This was done to compete with the other slasher movies of the time
But John also deleted a bunch of character development
Scenes of the hospital staff
Including a scene where Michael cuts the power
And the emergency generator kicks in
Do y'all think the finished movie still holds up today
Compared to the original
What do you feel?
Because I just watched Friday the 13th, which actually, like, is interesting, it puts me in the seat of the people that would have watched it when it came out.
Right, right.
I liked that it was gorier.
Is that bad?
I don't think this is, ah, I don't, I don't know.
I feel like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because we're watching these in a time, especially now where there is, like, so, so much gore.
Yeah, definitely.
You know, I think that I'm going to be inclined to prefer it.
That's fair.
But also, I think that examining the original film, especially for when it came out in the period and how it is the mother of like all modern horror, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
No, because it doesn't have as much of an impact.
True.
If that makes sense.
No, I agree.
I do prefer the original 1978, first one.
comparison to this.
Cool.
I mean, interesting, he did reshoots and rewrites and so on and so forth.
But I don't like the reasoning.
Let's just do it for the sake of competing,
as opposed to let's serve the story more.
The emergency generator kicking in,
that seems like a real life thing,
but for it not to kick in kind of makes it convenient for Michael
and the kills and the story.
Yeah.
I almost like, I wish that we saw that
because now I'm remembering that at the beginning of the film,
the tone felt so different and so much more naturalistic.
You know?
Yes.
And I liked that there wasn't the score as much.
Yeah, yeah.
So I don't know.
I feel like I really enjoyed the direction that this film was going in
and it just kind of like felt there was inconsistencies.
I agree.
You know, between like, yeah, I think that that was my main complaint.
same yeah definitely
wampwomp
there you go
all right
let's go next
to Jaden Rhodes
our man Jaden
Jaden writes in
I'm very curious
with the different
Halloween timeline
how does this one feel
for y'all
compared to Halloween
2018 timeline
ooh yeah good question
I mean like
you talked about a little bit
but 2018 timeline
is like one night
yeah until the last
until the last one
the big jump right
like a year jump
I don't I need
I don't know if I can answer
until we watch the other one.
Good question.
Oh, yeah, that's a good point.
Yes, yes, yes.
Can you write in again next week?
Yeah, Jane Rhodes, please.
See how we feel about the next one.
Or maybe I guess it would have to be after Halloween four
because technically the original Halloween.
Yeah.
Because it goes one, 2018 kills ends.
Yes, right, right, right.
Oh, so compare foreign films to foreign films.
Right.
I mean, as of right now,
I do like the 2018 movie.
because the other two
Jack and I feel that
kills and ends
kind of
but you know what I've been thinking about
did we just
like Halloween 2018 so much
because so many sequels
that are done decades later are so bad
that there's such a low bar
oh right right so we have less expectations
you know is that like crazy I don't know
that's a good point
is that crazy no not at all I side with you
that makes sense why we should wait
until the four films.
I'll, yeah, Jackie.
I'm really, I'm, I'm so
kidding, because is he dead?
Right.
Because that's what John was saying,
is that they go off into like totally different things
that they wanted to make it in an anthology.
So I'm like, is the next movie
it's just gonna be something really random?
Where there's no Michael Myers?
No, but that would make sense, right?
Yeah, because it's about him.
So, yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Or is it just about Halloween?
Oh, just as the holiday?
Dun, tan.
Should I be sexy Michael Myers?
Um, I don't want to sound inappropriate.
Okay, should I be yossified?
Yeah, sure.
Okay.
No, that'd be pretty cool.
Like, you know, not to be.
I'll try to be as cool as possible.
Yeah, that'd be cool.
I was, I was, uh, instead of saying sexy, I'll say, I was, I was yossified Frank from
Donnie Durko when you're.
Oh, cool.
Yeah.
That's cool.
I did the full face paint.
It was awesome.
That's pretty sick.
Yeah.
Okay.
Ramad 27 writes in and says,
It's a question for me.
Get out.
Jackie, did you notice that weird shadow that appeared behind you as you were reacting with John?
Wait.
What?
Are we, is this a cue for me to, okay.
All right.
You're funny.
Editors, editors.
Please don't edit something in.
It's not funny.
There's like a ghost.
Is the Reject Studio haunted?
I'm going to start that rumor.
I was looking at it.
got a fly. You were actually
going to fly when we walked in. No wait, he was.
He was pointing up at the ceiling and I was like,
what? What's up there? Are you psychic?
Which is weird. Yeah. Wait, that is actually weird.
Yeah. We have some tritia.
Okay, trivia and overload. Oh, my God. My brain
today. Trivia. All right.
And then we have more questions actually.
Yeah, we do. Oh my gosh. Is that Daniel?
Speed round.
Daniel. Yeah. That's a, that's a,
because he asked a question earlier.
Gehen? Okay.
I said Gehen.
uh this is this the same mask as the original film producer deborah hill kept it in a shoebox
wow at her home and was a heavy smoker which is why it looks different three years later you know what
i would also be a heavy smoker if my husband left me while we were in the middle of working on a
movie together and then brought a different woman to the rap party so you know what i'd be smoking too
thank you daniel cool little trivia jane and rose has a second question do you all like that
it's a straight continuation from the 78 movie actually you
Yes.
Yeah.
Because I liked that in...
20s.
Oh, no, you know.
In the sequel to the new trilogy.
Oh, yes, yeah.
From Halloween to Kills.
Yeah.
Because I think it's like not expected, you know?
Yeah, definitely.
It's usually not expected, so I really do like that.
No, I agree.
Cool kind of continuation or it doesn't stop.
And it becomes like a video game.
So, there you go.
Let's move on.
Next one.
Next one.
Leone 03.
Question two.
This sequel starts with two different timelines.
Okay.
This is going to be, okay.
Okay.
One begins H.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
I understand.
Okay.
One begins.
Being Halloween one.
Oh, being Halloween one, two, four, five, and six.
So they, okay.
So that's the original timeline.
Gotcha.
And the other is one to H2O and resurrection.
Is that true?
Interesting.
What is this?
The original sequel trilogy is noticely more at,
atmospheric, but similar to the classic slasher from the 80s, while the other sequel timeline is more akin to scream and or scary movie.
Interesting.
Okay.
Would y'all consider watching Halloween 4 as the next Michael Meyer sequel since it is a bigger overarching storyline?
P.S. Halloween 3 is my own thing.
Is it's its own thing?
Okay.
That hurt my brain.
Yeah, a little confusing.
I'm trying to.
Also, I will say that we do not.
The gods decide.
Yes.
The gods.
So that's a, we will pass this information on to dad.
Yes, definitely.
We can, we can have some control.
We as in not mean, Jackie, but we have some, we all have some control with commenting and liking and view counts.
Yeah, comment, comment this below what you think the next one should be actually.
Yes, definitely.
So please.
What the hell?
I'm excited for when, what's, what's resurrection?
Because is this not the timeline?
Is the timeline that he's referred?
Guys, actually, please comment below.
I need some help here.
It might be because I'm sick.
But so Halloween 1, Halloween 2, Halloween 20 or H2O?
I guess Halloween 20.
And what's resurrection?
What happened to Halloween?
Halloween?
Halloween kills and Halloween ends.
I don't get it.
What's happening?
That's a total different timeline.
There's three different timelines or two different timelines.
I'm confused and I'm scared.
Oh, this sequel starts.
two different timelines.
This sequel starts two.
So there's three timelines?
What is the fuck?
It's happening.
They're just popping off with that IP.
Yeah.
Is age 20, 20 years later from 19708 to 1998?
Am I allowed to?
I feel like I know I can't Google it.
We can't Google it.
But it's akin to scream or scary movie?
So is that like, is it very self-aware?
The sequel is more akin to scream or scary movie?
Or is it just more, no, or scream or scary movie?
Yeah, scary movie is a parody.
Yeah, how is that?
I don't know.
Scream or scary.
It feels more modern?
Yeah.
Or Scream is...
Or scary movie.
Scream is a very meta.
There's like a different killer every time.
Yeah, yeah.
Like that...
Scream is very much like self-referential.
It's like, hey, this is a, you know, these are the horror tropes or whatever.
I don't know.
We'll see.
I guess let's comment.
I'm very unfamiliar with this franchise.
I just knew that it was dude the words of masks.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
same so like i just i know about michael meyers and the lore and not the lower but like the legend
of it all but like please comment below and view counts leave this on for your dogs um and likes
leave it on for your dogs yeah definitely all right final question from leano three again and i get
to say a really awesome name hold on this michael played by dick warlock
is a different actor but using the same mask than the original is
he is noticeably shorter and slower
than the first movie's actor Nick Castle.
Which film at the scarier Michael Miles portrayal
or Michael Myers' scene from these first two films?
I like the first Michael.
I agree.
He had a dance background.
Yeah, definitely.
I want to dance at the ballet.
No, the first one definitely,
it's iconic for a reason, right?
Like, he, Nick Castle,
seemed like he was able to embody the shape or whatever.
Yes, and he just felt more, like,
I think I described it,
when we watch it as alien and just not there.
Like this one I felt like it,
this one I felt like it was an actor.
Like I could tell that it was an actor.
No offense, Dick Warlock.
Yeah.
Yeah, I agree.
Then your name, like your D&D character if you're playing an asshole,
Dick Warlock.
Great news.
Anyways.
Scariest Michael Myers scene.
I mean, the first one.
The first one.
The first one is scary.
I had a big jump scare in the first one.
Yeah, yeah, if I remember correctly.
Yeah, I can't remember what it is.
I mean, this one was scarier to me because I'm afraid of natals.
Oh, yeah, it does show a lot of that.
Yeah.
Wait, also, I just want to go back to an earlier question because I thought of something.
Sure.
If this was originally shot with no blood, what about that one scene where the whole floor is blood?
Yeah, there was no blood at all, and he just slips out enough.
And he was like, I mean, it's past me the bucket.
Okay, do you need a spoon to ladle it?
Right, right.
Pass me the bucket.
Exactly.
Let me put it all over the.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, that scene was pretty interesting.
Yeah.
Anyways, any final thoughts?
I'm excited if we're able, I guess if.
Well, now I don't know what we're doing next.
Now I'm confused.
I don't know.
Yeah, like I don't get the timeline.
So however timeline we go or where we go or how it's going to be interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's right.
How about you?
Any final thoughts for you?
Evil dies tonight.
Oh my gosh.
Going to that one.
Evil died tonight.
It did.
It did, apparently.
All right, guys.
Thank you so much.
Bye.
See you next time.
