Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Episode 5 & 6 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Theories! Greg Alba & Roxy Striar return to the depths of Hell for Hazbin Hotel Season 2 — Episodes 5 (“Silenced”) and 6 (“Scream Rain”) — from creator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, the visionary behind Helluva Boss. The chaos, comedy, and music of Hell reach new heights as Charlie Morningstar, Vaggie, Angel Dust, Alastor the Radio Demon, Husk, Niffty, Sir Pentious, Vox, Velvette, Valentino, and new demons collide in the Hotel’s wildest chapters yet. These episodes feature incredible original songs by Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg — including 🎵 “Bad With Us,” “Vox Populi,” “Vox Dei,” “Love in a Bottle,” “Losing Streak,” and “Easy.” Each track pushes the story forward with catchy lyrics, gorgeous animation, and music-video-level energy (MV moments everywhere!). We break down every song sequence, lyric meaning, and emotional beat — from Vox’s power anthem to Angel Dust’s heartbreak, and Alastor’s looming influence over Charlie and the Hotel’s fate. Our reaction dives deep into VivziePop’s signature blend of satire, heart, and spectacle — bridging the Hazbin and Helluva Boss universes, analyzing animation details, vocal performances, and the insanely layered music production that has made this show a modern cult classic. All right, ladies
gentlemen, we just watched
the
episode five and six.
Yep.
What show?
Of Hasman Hotel, baby.
Of Hasman Hotel.
Greg knew all that information.
He was just quizzed me.
Oh, look at the background of this.
Is an apple and a serpent also.
Do you see it?
That's pretty cool.
The start of Lucy, Lucy.
What?
Start of Lucy Lucy.
Lucifer.
Oh.
And I don't know what you.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, start of Lucy Lucy, yes, yes.
Or in this context, Adam and Lilah, actually.
Yes, oh, Lucy, Lucy.
Did you have a favorite song here?
Let's see.
I know I did.
Which one was it that we were freaks?
Oh, the Charlie, the Vaggy song.
That was sick.
Yeah, the duet, but mostly Vaggy.
So good.
How about you?
I would probably opt for that one.
one and then
hmm
probably the
hustong
we opened with a really cool song in episode five
too
yeah it was a really good one
with everybody that was cool
establishing the grounds of where
Vox was currently at
so how are you feeling about this
show I mean we were expressing a little bit
of concerns last week last week
when we were here filming last week
right how are you feeling now
with what the progress is
of these next two episodes.
I much preferred 5 and 6
to 3 and 4.
With that being said, we only have two episodes left,
and I'm feeling that
the clock ticking.
Like, wow, we still have so much to do, because what we didn't
really address in 5 and 6 was
a lot of heaven stuff.
Like, we haven't moved forward.
Well, it depends on where the season's
going to end, right? Like, we now
have declared a full-blown war,
and we have two episodes to
deal with that, theoretically.
So I'm so glad we got to see more of Vaggy and Charlie together.
I'm happy that Vox is like really this huge, huge threat.
I think there's a lot of parallels.
Obviously, they literally say make hell great again.
There's a lot of parallels between this war and current wars.
And there's a lot of parallels between the divide in the United States right now.
So I think that this show is seeing big swings.
I'm really enjoying it.
And also, I'm still a little nervous about us only having two episodes.
How about you?
I think it's said a lot of heavy lifting over a lot of the concerns that we were having.
Like, I like everything they're doing with Vox way more this time around.
I still feel like he's defeatable in some way, you know?
Like he doesn't, he hasn't reached this point yet where it's like, how do you take this guy down?
How is he undefeatable?
and you know what they're
comments what they're using it as a as a political
tapestry of I think is pretty cool
because even though it's very relevant to today
you can watch this show like 10 20 years from now
and you don't even need like today's context
to understand it you know
well history tends to repeat itself
so yeah yeah like what's going on today
is not exactly a first time
of it all so yeah watching him
use media manipulation, the propaganda, weaponizing rage, acting like he's one of the people
while also disrespecting current law and order and leadership.
It's a neat way to draw it, and it's a cool way to see how he rises in strength,
and the machinations of how it's all formed where the heaven wanting to have resolution
because I even found myself here with you going, well, you know, it's not wrong about that.
They're like, why would they forgive?
And then you said that, well, the fighting has to stop at some point.
And I was like, oh, yeah, that's right.
They don't want to fight anymore.
And I was caught up in the speech of, well, fuck, man.
Yeah, heaven's got to run them wrong.
They should probably go kill their ass.
I think that's the whole point of what, like, I love that they're addressing this because when in life we go tit for tat, it's not tit for tat.
It's tit for tat.
And then tit, tat, tit, tat, tit, tat.
And I think that, obviously, like, not to make it too crazy political, but we have seen that in a lot of different places, but especially with what's gone on in the last 100 years, thousands of years, and especially in the last two years in the Middle East, I think that there's been a lot of commentary about who started something.
And then also commentary about what the United States place is in helping.
and I kind of felt like Carmelah felt like a little bit like U.S. coded here because while she's supplying weapons for the people of hell, she's doing it because she thinks it's the right thing to do to protect her family.
Right.
And it's easy to get caught up, us looking at this, being like, no, heaven really effed over hell.
It was a full-blown genocide.
We see thousands of people every year dying.
That's what they were doing.
every year it's easy for us to be like yeah we want vengeance it's hard to be like and when does
the killing stop yeah and that's what we all have to ask ourselves like how do we if you really are
somebody who wants peace are you willing to let go of the past in order to move forward towards
peace and yeah i i was really moved by that storyline in this because i like you gregg it's we now
we've lived in hell for a long time.
So we love these people.
And we're like, you guys totally effed us.
But at the same time, so what are we going to do?
Fight a war with heaven so that then they can kill us more and we can kill them more and then us as in hell.
Yeah, yeah.
I think that that's, it's an interesting way to tackle bigger issues.
And it's an allegory for a lot of other wars throughout history, of course, because a lot of wars are centered around the same thing.
Yeah.
But that just, it spoke to me in this particular time, people.
period, even though it also speaks to a lot of other things.
Yeah, the commentary is pretty strong and timely.
Yeah.
I guess this comes down to how's the immediate writing of the characters going there
because I like pulling back and looking at all that.
And like to me, as much as like the commentary is strong in the first season, it's more characters
and I find myself thinking more about what they're talking about more than I am the actual
character experience is.
this time. Does that make sense?
Tell me more what you mean.
Like what kind of
moments are you thinking more about
than the character experiences? Like you care
more about the theme than you do about the individuals.
I mean, yeah, I find that like
when we're having the most exciting conversations
or our takeaways, we're off.
Yeah, you're right. It's often associated more with
like what the show was
talking about
versus, you know,
like watching
like Lucifer coming to the equation in the first
season or Angels
struggle as an addict
and dealing with the sexual abuse
in his life.
And do you find that to be a good
thing that we care more about
plot than people or bad?
I don't know if it's good or bad.
It's like
it's interesting. The character stuff
is still there. Like the song
that's what makes the song's good.
You know, like the song with Vaggy and Charlie
is really strong because it is about them as
you know how she
how Vaggy was able to
honor the principles and the
faith system that Charlie
lost sight of inside and
because this whole time
she's been wanting the approval of her mom
and try to get her mom back
that was a really strong moment
it was it was a beautiful moment
because we I said earlier
in the episode I was like she's knowing the piss out of me
and yeah and it's
because what and I like that they
justified that this is
a bigger deal for Charlie.
Like I think last week you said,
why is Charlie caring so much
about this redemption thing now that we know what
heaven is? Yeah. And there
is something bigger going on here, which
is like she's trying to finish what she believes
her mom wants and started
and what would make her mom proud. And she's not
doing that because her mom's gone. She's doing
that in hopes that her mom loves her again.
Yeah, yeah. That was like, I remember
we're speaking about how she really wants
validation and that's why she's going to these
like extreme lengths to change the
narrative and that carries over from season one so i think it's still strong how do you feel about
the husk stuff and angel dust good stuff good stuff you like it do you like it yeah yeah i was i was
happy i mean you called this first you and pretty quickly that it's it was angel's turn to
pull husk out yeah and it seems like in that one moment he does and yet now angel
is under this spell
and so Husk's going to have
to pull Angel out yet again because we see
Husks like something's wrong. Well, it probably
have to physically save him. Yeah. And then they
can profess their love for
one another. Do you think that's where we're going?
I never
quite picked up on love
between them in terms of
romantic. Oh, really?
Until this episode. Then it was like,
okay, I guess I wasn't sure
was more accurate.
And when he started blushing
is when I started a wonder like okay I guess maybe it is actually that
I feel like we got that in episode four of season one
but yes I'm with you that we it hasn't been a consistent through line
where it's been like oh clearly they're pining after each other
yeah I thought they were just friends but this is the world of Hasman Hotel
where every gay guy wants to sleep with every other gay guy
that one line am I gay when Angel does comes out
I know who cares everyone's gay here apparently yeah the nifty
stuff is so funny
I don't understand why these characters keep trusting
nifty
like what is that character
she's a little bit more
cohesive than last season
but she's you know she's doing her
thing ridiculous Alistair
it's weird what they did with Alistair and
Angel Dust because I don't know about
you did you feel like Angel Dust was
not really as much of a presence so far
before before this
yeah yes yeah like he had that one
episode about him
totally and then
And then here I thought it was kind of clever to actually not make him as much of a presence.
That way we didn't pick up on any of this manipulation of the hypnosis technique that Box was doing on him.
Because we did see those text messages, but I didn't read them quickly and didn't know what they were about.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
I remember there was like one point out of like a shit ton of messages to bow and I didn't know what that was about either.
But if they were focusing more on angel dust, I don't know if we would have made him more suspect, but I thought that was kind of clever to like remove him away from the equation.
that way you're not suspecting it
and I kind of feel that they're doing something similar to Alistair
where he's intentionally
weaving this tapestry of
everyone turning on against each other
amongst the Vs and so
if we're not fully paying attention to Alistair
we're not going to 100%
be mining what's going on there
we saw him completely manipulate
Vox when he's like
take the stage alone basically and convinces him to
do that and then when
Velvet turns her chair
and she's been sitting next to
Alistair, it's very clear to me that before Vox walked in,
Alistair very clearly was talking to Velvet and to Val.
Yeah.
And he's planting more seeds of doubt in their minds
because they immediately are doubting more than they ever have.
So I'm with you.
And I think we'll see a little bit more of that.
How much do you want the last two episodes to focus on Lily and Sarah and Abel
and what's going on there?
and how much do you want it to
feature Lilith
like the bigger
part of this versus how much
do you want it to feature what's going on in hell?
I'm asking the loaded question, Greg.
I would prefer
if they finally brought Lilith in.
I think they've been dangling this carrot
for a little too long.
And I don't even know.
That's the right phrase.
No, yeah, that was right.
Dangling the carrot?
yeah who do you who am i supposed to be what's it a horse is that how that what people do
they dangle carrots to their horses to make the horse run really you used the right expression
is this a conclusion i just don't know what the i started questioning like who do you wait
who was the original intention of the dangling of the carrot yeah for a horse really is that
what comes from oh i didn't know that i mean i'm 99% sure we have to know we cannot proceed
crazy about it is that you used it.
I know, and I question whether or not...
Question yourself, okay.
I had the metaphor down or simile.
Oh, God.
Okay, daily carrots, I'm offering someone
incentive like a reward to do something.
The idea of leading a donkey by holding a carrot.
Donkey.
I thought it was a horse.
Yeah, you were way wrong.
I still think it's a horse.
Donkeys and horses are two very different animals.
Okay.
Well.
And what's interesting to be a metaphor and a simile?
A simile is like.
A metaphor isn't like
Okay
So I lost my original point
What are you hoping for?
They're dangling the carrot of Lilith for too long
And I agree
Yeah they've been dangling that
I agree
I agree with Lilith
And I agree with that
Because I think they were building up for this
The whole moment of her explosion
Of her character Charlie to do all that
But I'm like
I kind of feel like we've been through a lot of this
Already with Charlie to a certain extent
in season one already
like we already
this show was already a big acknowledgement in season one
that she was really doing this because she
obviously they kept calling her out that she wants
validation and approval and her dad shows up
so I'm like I kind of feel like we went
through a good amount of this already
speaking of her dad what do you think about
them call what do you think the
situation is here with them calling Lucifer
yeah what would they say
like we have our power source now
that's what they said because he's an actual
he's an actual angel too
Lucifer
Yeah, but about
Lucifer
but also about
Angel
that they
had their in
What is your
question?
Exactly.
What do you think
their game plan is
about calling
Lucifer over?
Oh yeah,
yeah.
You know at the end.
Can you like strip
I don't know
Angel juice?
I've watched the show
You haven't seen
Supernatural have you?
No, only a little.
Okay, well
they have angels
in the show?
And sometimes you have to, like, take the angels ju-ju from them.
And so I'm wondering if that's what they do.
Because we want to get to heaven.
Well, the way to take down the angels is only with angel killer,
is with the weapons the angels have already crafted.
So maybe in some way to arm themselves to get into,
or like where you're saying, to pierce the veil of heaven's gates,
you need some type of angel ju-ju.
They're using Carmen to make the weapons right now,
because she has
yeah
the weapons of mass destruction
okay
which is a carrot
when you dangle it
is carrot which is
a metaphor
not a simony
yeah
simile is
this is like
oh fascinating
well what are you hoping
for in the finale
of this
are you okay
with the lack of
lilith that we've had
how are you feeling about
Charlie's arc
let's start right there
how are you feeling about
where Charlie's at with this. She's not
particularly like my favorite this season.
Well, I like that we finally get to.
She's doing this to impress her mom.
But I agree. She's not my favorite this season either.
I think even last season, I like Vaggy best, though.
And I do love Vaggy. Vaggy and Angel really
both speak to me.
But in terms of
answering your first question
and kind of having that tie in here,
I feel like we might not get Lilith for this season.
Well, that would suck.
I'd be doing that thing that I said they'd be doing.
Dangling, I care.
About the season two, like, not completing your narrative.
Yeah.
I mean, Lucifer came in kind of late in season one.
He came in, like, a one episode in the middle,
then he came in very late again in the finale.
But I'm right that we have two more episodes?
Yeah, I believe so.
Okay.
Because, yeah, I mean, we're referencing her a lot.
And, you know, I do also think it's very interesting.
Vox keeps being like, this is what Lilith would want.
It's, like, kind of reminding me of MLK Jr. a little bit.
where people constantly are like,
this is, like posting,
this is,
the MLK's quote on this and on this.
And it's like you're completely misinterpreting his words here.
And you don't,
you didn't know him.
And there's,
taking out of context,
everything is different.
And using her as the North Star,
just I wonder if they think it's enough that we keep referencing her.
And she is a huge deal in season three.
Well,
that's religion though that's how that's how you have like so many different denominations
of christianity you're 100% correct it's from like a billion people being like well actually
here's what this part of the bible means and then some guy shows up is like you know i got a third
bible now you know that's so that's what they're doing with little words that's totally right
and in that comparison then charlie is jesus and jesus is like no this is what my parent
actually thinks and nobody's listening
you know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
That's a metaphor.
Analogy?
What's an analogy?
Analogies.
An analogy.
I know an analogy when it's used.
I don't know how to describe.
The analogy would be what I just did.
Like that is as if it was MLK.
Yes.
But how is the clear delineation then between a metaphor and an analogy?
Metaphor is metaphorical.
language as a metaphor is a metaphor as opposed to a specific example like that metaphor could be
dangling a carrot got it but if you use like that is that an expression it is god how we're
supposed to sell a screenplay we can't tell you the difference between an expression
analogy I can tell you what onomat appears metaphor yeah and let's make
sure we got all our bases covered because we're not really going to talk too much about it and then vaggie having a very empowering song was really cool that was the sexiest they've ever been because they were definitely doing it and they did it through the art of dance they are so similar do you watch harley queen the animated series i've only seen the first season okay so you're not
i've seen the first two seasons no whichever one is the one that ends up with them driving off this is so Harley and poison ivy yeah so so similar i mean i know the characters
well enough to understand.
Right, of course, of course.
But just, I mean specifically in the animated show,
it's their dynamic.
Yeah.
Which I love.
That's my favorite animated show.
I wonder if this is all going to end
to some giant conversation.
Like we're going to be on the brink of war.
And then Lilith shows up to clear the air.
Because you're right, we haven't gone to the heaven spot
to see what their POV is after all this hell backlashes
that they've received.
And that's like a star falling from the sky.
Yes.
Good.
That's an analogy, isn't it?
No.
This is complicated.
Move like water, brusely.
Be like water.
But yeah, do you have any final straying thoughts that are lingering in the air here?
I love this world.
I'm super glad that we're doing this.
And I'm looking forward to the next.
too and I hope they don't disappoint.
Yeah, I feel so bad for Angel, man.
Oh, it's a fucking heartbreak.
Yeah, no, it was how you to understand you just now.
Yeah, I feel so bad for Angel who is so hard break.
He's just tossed around so much.
I could hear myself clearly.
No, I got it.
I think I just spit.
We should leave.
You're right.
Well, guys, are you tired of Roxy's spitting?
Leave your thoughts down below.
You can subscribe your only fans, which will spit on you for $50 a month.
Wow, imagine if you could spit on somebody through a screen.
Hock toa.
Is there a way to do that?
No.
Shove someone spit on them?
Some people would like that.
Oh, well.
They'd have to cover your gas money, though.
Over my dead body.
There are people who, like, produce only fans?
I don't know how you, like, possibly pull that off.
That seems like too much work.
We know somebody who does that.
We do?
Who produces only fans?
Yes.
like they don't have an only fan right we know someone yes are they public with this information
uh i'll share it with you afterwards all right do you guys agree with jeremy johns is
only fans stop spreading weird rumors i will spread whatever i have to to get the truth
that's how i do it i smoke it out through lies all right all right guys well thanks for being here
See you for the finale.
You may have heard of the sex cult nexium
and the famous actress who went to prison for her involvement, Alison Mack.
But she's never told her side of the story until now.
People assume that I'm like this pervert.
My name is Natalie Robamed.
And in my new podcast, I talked to Allison to try to understand
how she went from TV actor to cult member.
How do you feel about having been involved in bringing sexual trauma to other people?
I don't even know how to answer that question.
Thank you. Allison after Nexium from CBC's Uncover is available now on Spotify.
