Starting point is 00:01:38 Did Ricky just die? No, he's not, I guarantee you he's not dead. Don't, oh my God. How crazy would that be if he's dead? Oh, my God. No, he just, like, he broke his leg and now he's going to be like, I'm going to be a beast, but I'll be like on crutches or something. right there's no way he's dead

Starting point is 00:01:57 holy crap i think it would be a bold move they killed them off this isn't hbo this is disney gregory i think you should have a blood splattered death oh yeah yeah just messed up face that right him off the show it's just he has the beast mask on and it's just it's bloody his nose is gone his legs you know when you see in chucky the legs are all backwards yeah that that sounds great yeah i would i mean i'd be down to see it i just don't want him to die listen

Starting point is 00:03:36 I really like them. But, you know, I like the finally Ricky is singing some songs because it has mostly been Olivia. And then now we're finally seeing Ricky do. solo stuff. And maybe that's because they're seeing him prep to get maybe Olivia off the show. Again, we don't know. We're just guessing. But I like to see. I should do it. I am. I am. But I like reading into it. Let me read into it. Let me live my life. Please. Let me mansplain how you should think. Okay. Go ahead. What do you got for me? I think you got to. Exactly. Do you see what I lost it? I lost. Do you see what I mean? I lost the train of You can't even mansplain. I can't even mansplain. Okay. I've just lost all the ability to explain.

Starting point is 00:04:18 Just keep it in the gym, buddy. You'll be all right. I lose all my brain cells there. Yep. I don't. I know it. Every time he comes back, it's just like degraded Gregory Alba. Degraded.

Starting point is 00:04:29 But not like a... The right choice of words? No. It's a... Every time he comes back, it's like a decrease. A decrease of Gregory Alba? Nope. It's like a...

Starting point is 00:04:43 Just lower on the totem pole. Gregory Alba. His body. Getting better, his brain, getting bad. Okay. Yeah. So what did you think? I think thoughts that are good.

Starting point is 00:04:58 All good thoughts. You had a big thought about the song in the last episode, and I want you said, and I want you to talk on that. Because I didn't know where you were going to go, so let's hear it. I thought it was brilliant because it felt so weird that whole episode. Like it felt, I guess they were going for that whole. I know they shot this during COVID, but I have some scenes where actors are together. So watching it going,

Starting point is 00:05:24 why aren't they just all together right now? Like you're on spring break, but you guys look like you all live down the street from each other. So why aren't you all just hanging out with each other in person? Right. Instead of just having these like weird Zoom meetings with one another. As if they, that's what they've done before in the show.

Starting point is 00:05:39 Right. They never have. Yeah. So it was just a little strange. And so it felt like production-wise a little weird. But then when they got, to the song, it was like all that was a setup just for that one song to have the moment where you do see, during the time of the pandemic, you would have these things where people would try to create things via through Zoom. And that's essentially what we watched in there.

Starting point is 00:06:06 So I loved watching this great payoff to something where you're watching these angles from Zoom cameras that suddenly turn into like this brilliant music video that they assemble together that does have an uplifting quality and shows this inspirational side of creativity during the time of a pandemic even though the show is not living in the pandemic people are aware it was. So I thought it was like a really smart,

Starting point is 00:06:28 really well, and a great excuse to do something that's really like fanciful in the way it's executed. Yeah, great editing. Yeah. But I thought you were going to talk about Ricky's song.

Starting point is 00:06:40 That's what I thought hit you. It was sad. There you go, no, I don't get her. Oh, he was starting about the soup song. Let her go. Yes, that's where you got to do. He's learning to let her go, which is the right thing to do. It's what's best for her.

Starting point is 00:06:54 That's good. His song was phenomenal. I got goosebumps. It was the first time that we saw Ricky just at the piano, maybe not the first time, singing a solo song that he wrote and I really, really liked it. Like, I keep thinking when I get in my car, I'm like, I need to listen to high school musical soundtrack. Why am I doing that? And then I forget.

Starting point is 00:07:13 But I also agree with the editing in that, in the, the Zoom thing. It was a lot of fun. It gave us something new to look at. But I really appreciated the storyline they threw in there with Gina and the guy at the airport because it gave us something new because it was sort of becoming the same. Like, are we just going to keep talking about how the other school is going to win the main keywords and how do we get better and we're lesser than? And we also, they threw in the girl, the blonde girl who's like a spy that I thought when she, in the last episode, when she left and she gave eyes to Ricky. that I'm like they're going to end up together

Starting point is 00:07:48 and then it's revealed she has his number and they're talking and I'm like ooh and I think that she is not I don't think she's genuine I think she's still spying it out she might have a little juice for Ricky because he's cute but I think she's still a spy but I liked what we learned more about Gina

Starting point is 00:08:06 and EJ that they needed to throw in that story with that new kid that we thought he's so cute and he's like charming and they're getting along and they do all this like fun stuff sneaking in the lounge, whatever. We'll always have the first class lounge. That's such a rom-com line.

Starting point is 00:08:22 But then when E.J. shows up, it makes that bond even stronger, hearing that, like, she's never been kissed. He did confirm that. Like, she hasn't. So when he shows up, we're all like, of course, her saying the line when the right guy comes along and he stays here, he sticks around. Tongue first. Of course, it's going to be E.J.

Starting point is 00:08:42 And of course, he's going to go tongue first because he doesn't know how to kiss. Lead with the tongue. He's in high school. Yeah, exactly. Hard, straightforward tongue extending past the mouth. This is why Gregory had to get married quick because I tell you, if he was out there any longer, he would just be floating along solo. You pay someone enough money, they'll do it. Yeah, yep.

Starting point is 00:09:03 Just he's just tongue out, just straight into your face. I'm just in her face, eyes wide open. Yep. Oh my God, oh my God. I'm like the thing where you do mini golf into it. Oh, my God, you are with the big eyes and then you just hope the ball goes in so the mouth closes and the eyes close. Oh, God. God bless him, you know, poor old Gregory Alba.

Starting point is 00:09:31 I like that storyline because I'm really loving Gina and E.J. a lot right now. I want to see them go get risotto. I want to see her get her first kiss from E.J. I'm really rooting for them now. I feel like that secret. I love that. I feel like that whole thing about the secret with. Gina is going to come out.

Starting point is 00:09:48 I mean, that's going to lead to some real tension. I understand, I understand, for being uncomfortable about that. I totally get that. It's awkward. Because even, because Ricky even would joke about it with Nini, you know, and, I mean, with Gina. So, of course it's going to be awkward. Yes.

Starting point is 00:10:02 Yeah, I agree. It's like they were hiding something from her the entire time. It was like not an emotional affair, but like semi-emotional affair. And he knew that Gina was into him, you know, but she didn't know that. So, yeah, of course. Yeah, it makes a lot of sense. sense. I'm totally on NeNey's side on that. Yeah, I agree. And because she had literally had to tell him, stop talking to me about NeNe, you know how I feel. She had to say that to Ricky out loud, which made it even. And now her finding out this information, of course, she's going to ask questions. And also, it wasn't even Gina that brought it up. It was Bell, which is not her name, but you know what I'm talking about. She brought up the whole situation with the chocolates and you're like, why? Because now Nini is going to know that everyone else knew about the situation between Ricky and Gina, except for Nini.

Starting point is 00:10:53 And it makes it even more awkward. But I'm kind of glad that we left Nini, I guess, alone a little bit in regards to her Instagram page and her songs. We got away from that for these last two episodes and we got more with Ricky, growing his story, getting in between Carlos and Seb, which was great to see, seeing Carlos team up with Ricky. Ricky has not really been much of a team player, right? He didn't join the video because he was too sad about the breakup. I understand that. But in general, he has not been much of a team player. When he finds out that Nini is going off on her own and doing great things with her music,

Starting point is 00:11:31 he can't handle it. It's like he just wants Nini to himself. And right now I think he's learning the ways to be a team player in regards to teaming up with Carlos writing a song for Seb. And that may be like they're going on different paths, but they may end up the same. I have a feeling that Ricky's going to end up going, oh, Nini was doing kind of the right thing all along.

Starting point is 00:11:53 I judged her for it. And he could do the exact same thing. Like, start an Instagram page for your music and here we go. And I don't think it's out of spite. I think it just happened that he's learning this along the way. And I like to see that because it makes him more, it just makes him more like tasteful as a character. Because before he was really getting on my nerves,

Starting point is 00:12:12 how jealous he was and kind of bitter about that. And now I think he's going to learn on the other end of like, hey, I can do this too so I don't have to just be like, you're not around for me, NeNe and like, now we broke up. You know what I mean? I get you. I like that. I get you. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:12:27 I agree with all those points. Yeah. I do wish that we get more nuance with Seb and Carlos, though. Because as much as the song is really cute, I'm like, did the show really need this moment? Right. Because I never really felt like, I don't know. you just kind of hear about some of the bickering drama that kind of feels fabricated for the sense of the plot. Yeah, there's no foundation.

Starting point is 00:12:51 There was nothing set up. Yeah, there's no real like scenes of drama between them to like have gotten us to that point. Yeah, you're right. So yeah, I thought that just felt a little one dimensional and how we landed there when I wish we just got more new ones. I'm not judging the gay romance. I'm saying I want more gay stuff. Yeah, I would have liked to see Carlos. the gayer even gayer and then bam we're gayed up we're really gayed up yeah i mean i would have

Starting point is 00:13:21 liked to see the drama with carlos in mexico with the other with the other boys and then you're and then we're there and we're going carless don't make this bad decision you were said yeah right then that would have put tension there and that song would have been a huge payoff exactly for us still a great song still a cute song but yeah i would have cared a little more if if we had the foundation yeah for season that it has like way more episodes than the other one. I thought we feel like there's room for that. Yeah, I agree. Unless Ricky moping, you know.

Starting point is 00:13:50 There's a lot of Ricky moping in this season. There is, and now he might be dead. Now he might actually be dead. The downfall, that's his arc. He might be dead. He might literally be dead. How did I call out three things that I was like, number one, they should put him on a spinny thing because I went to musical theater school.

Starting point is 00:14:12 And then I called the skateboard, didn't know it. And then I was like, oh, my God, do you think he's going to fall, not be able to do it? And that's what happened. I mean, I think one side is like, Tara, you are a genius. A genius. Obviously. You can predict the future. And the other side is, you know, you're really good at predicting something that is aimed at the teenage market.

Starting point is 00:14:38 It's probably the latter. Let's be honest. It's probably that Gregory also predicted all the things. I'm just the one sitting over here saying them out loud and being really proud of myself for it. I didn't predict any of that. The skateboard thing was smart, the spinning thing. I don't know how I predicted all that, lifting them up. That was really impressive.

Starting point is 00:14:59 I've got an engineering brain as the other owner Paul in my family. They were engineers. Oh, I see it now. And physicists. I see it now. You have engineers and physicists in your family background? Yeah. I do.

Starting point is 00:15:13 It's not a lie. This is what you're doing. It's not a lie. The accent that I'm doing. This is why, now you're here. That's why I'm here. Oh, yeah. Like, why isn't...

Starting point is 00:15:22 Why didn't I become an engineer? Because I, it's boring. I don't want to do a blueprint and math. I don't want to do maths with my wife. No. Better enough. Fair enough. Get out.

Starting point is 00:15:36 What else do you have to say to the people? Did, I got nothing. You've got nothing more. I got literally nothing. He's got nothing more. I can't wait for the next two episodes. Me? I just need to see what happened to Ricky.

Starting point is 00:15:48 He probably only broke a leg and maybe he'll just like, they'll put him on one of those scooters to play the beast. I don't know. I'm pretty sure he's dead and then they're going to reanimate him for the play. Yeah, okay. And then season three, he's just a, post-effects to juice. Yeah, season three's like, oh, I'm Ricky, you know. Yeah. That's like it comes across.
