Starting point is 00:01:19 We're killing it today, and I'm very excited. You got anything else to say before we do this thing? No, let's do it. Let's do it. we made it we made it gang thanks for staying with us at the hotel transylvania once again there's a Jared sandler yeah I was just looking at that I wonder if that's his son or somebody obviously related to him yeah so many sandler wow family film absolutely the family band yeah oh Tara Erickson yeah master of prestigitation what did you think of the hotel Pennsylvania. I liked it. Part two.
Starting point is 00:02:01 I liked the little lesson in here that I really didn't think that the little boy would turn vampire. I thought that like the story would be that they need to learn to get along better with humans and that humans and vampires coexisting together is totally normal and that they, but I still think that the idea came across, especially in teaching the grandpa, the great-grandfather. which we know he would probably be super stuck on like vampires only go with vampires and we do not like humans so it was a really nice like bait and switch
Starting point is 00:02:38 that he saves the human at the end and it was super adorable how he when he turned into a vambar that he hulked out which I really adored that he had to get angry in order to do it because he wanted to protect Hiki I forget our name Oh like it's right on the yeah
Starting point is 00:02:55 Yeah they I thought it was cute I always think these movies are very cute and and it took us further away from Marv and Johnny although we got um we got to see them I think enough because I think this story was more meant for like grandpa
Starting point is 00:03:10 and uh little little Johnny who Dennis Adam Sandler is like going to be your star still exactly exactly so I thought I thought it was a lot of fun yeah yeah absolutely and like I
Starting point is 00:03:25 you know I feel like in the evolution of animated motion pictures and stuff like that, you know, you have your more sort of classically oriented cartoon style stuff that's very kind of stretchy and over the top and, you know, expressionate and all that stuff, if that's an actual word. And then you also have the other side of the eye, which is like the Pixar, like the ooh, it's sweeping and family accessible but cerebral. And like, I don't know why this is what's come to mind. But I feel like, you know, At a time, it felt like, ah, you know, there are certain animated movies that aren't, like, as...
Starting point is 00:04:02 I feel like it's easier to kind of look down on the ones that aren't aiming for what a Pixar is aiming for. Right. But I love what movies like this are doing when they are, you know, combining, like, yeah, a sweet family accessible story with just, like, a lot of really fun and clever, you know, riffs on movie monsters and stuff, but also just that cartoon, that classic cartoon slapstick. madcap energy. And, you know, Gendi Tardukovsky, and I'm sure we trod some of this terrain in the first Hotel Transylvania video, but, you know, like, thinking back to his cartoons and stuff that I used to watch as a kid, like Dexter's Laboratory, and even the Samurai Jack stuff and things like that, like, he's got such a great blend of, like, striking, you'll have these striking
Starting point is 00:04:50 visuals and things and these, like, really stretched perspectives and stuff. But then you'll also just have these like really great like snappy zappy just physical comedy from the characters and stuff like that and yeah just like little gags and jokes another one of those movies where you know it's it's really enjoyable
Starting point is 00:05:10 for like the first experience of the story but then I also want to go back and like pause and like look at all the little details and things and yeah as like someone who enjoys monsters and Halloween and all that stuff you know this world is really fun to spend time in
Starting point is 00:05:26 And I think Yeah, like I liked what they did with the story of this one Like I don't know really which one I would like say I like better than the other I thought this is a nice natural continuation With like these quirky elements Like I wasn't expecting like Okay so we're we're on the eve of their wedding
Starting point is 00:05:41 And now they have a baby immediately So like how like weirdly Of the real world And like progressive ish in an odd way Like I feel like you could have gone out of your way To be like and nine months later a baby agree and so yeah to give them the kid and have this big question like i actually really like that that it got to a point where i was like it could go either way he might like part of me deep down
Starting point is 00:06:08 was like i bet he's going to grow the fangs at some point or maybe he'll become a different kind of monster for some strange reason um but i really liked that they actually kind of sold me on like he could easily not end up being a monster of any kind and you know i would be cool like it's that thing of yeah once Dracula you know makes that realization and truly embraces you know just like no this kid's cool I love him
Starting point is 00:06:32 no matter what you know then the movie is free to give you the fun of like no we're going to make him a vampire and I think that's probably thinking in franchise terms you know that's probably smart because we did you know the whole fish out of water in the first movie with Johnny you know coming to
Starting point is 00:06:49 the you know the hotel and sparking this new age of like everyone when monsters are on the open and people love them and all that stuff. So I feel like moving forward you might have you know
Starting point is 00:07:00 adding a baby or a child character who is like learning the ropes of being a creature of sorts probably will give them something to work with in the next movie
Starting point is 00:07:11 rather than just like oh fish out of water stuff some more but different you know yeah and just like the gags and stuff like that the camp
Starting point is 00:07:19 like it is contained in a way like I felt like this one in a sense almost had like us a more focused story than the first one like not that the first one didn't right but like you know the first movie you're kind of like going around the hotel and there's all these different little like sketch like beats and vignettes and stuff yeah whereas this you know was very much about like are they going to move what's it like in california is drak going to be able to bring out the
Starting point is 00:07:44 monster in young dennisovic right and you know will grandpa come around or is this going to be awkward where we have to, you know, not invite him over for Thanksgiving anymore. Right. Exactly. Like I think this movie is definitely like a very much a kid's movie. Because I think what, what like what you were bringing up early, what Pixar does is that, is that adults and kids can watch it. And versus like with these, it's definitely more kid based because it's a lot of that physical comedy that they're really relying on like the blob getting hit by a bunch of trees that you can imagine in a theater there's kids totally laughing about that right which I'm like to me I'm like oh it's cute right I'm not it's
Starting point is 00:08:32 not like a movie that I'm like oh I would I'm dying to watch it again but it's a definitely a cute movie that has that has heart to it not a huge not hugely so like I wasn't I did feel for the characters though because like that if if it existed where it was just mostly physical comedy without the heart then I would like or if they were trying to give it heart but it wasn't hitting then I would be annoyed with it but they do a good job with us making
Starting point is 00:09:02 making us care about the characters not Granly so like in Pixar it's like kill all the parents and then the kids survive and like everyone's like you know it's not that it's more like family fun entertainment which
Starting point is 00:09:18 is definitely cute and still fun and still hits the beats yeah it's not getting too heavy but you know like as yeah i feel like it sticks in the right sense to the spirit of like yeah it's a cartoon world and it's slapstick and it's madcap and it's fun and there's enough yeah there's enough like earnest heart placed in the right places to we're like yeah it's breezy it's fun it's largely for you know like there's a way this could go wrong you could get worse jokes you could get more out of place needle drops which is if i have any complaint Like, I don't need the pop music needle drops in the movie like this,
Starting point is 00:09:56 but I get that it's a thing that kids love. Right. Apparently, according to, you know, whoever market tests these things. Yeah. But yeah, like, it has that right balance for me of, as an appreciator of just the tradition of cartoons and getting to see, like, a master animator and crew, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:14 go ham on, you know, this kind of movie that's borrowing from all the sort of stuff I love as a horror movie person. Like, you can easily spiritually get that. stuff wrong or have gags and jokes that are uninspired or obvious but yeah just like all the little you know kooky little bits and gags they would come up with based on each different bit of lore or character type still you know I remember them being charming and I remember liking the first one more than I had expected at the time well like when these were coming out like for whatever reason I was like I don't know if that's going to be for me yeah so like both of these I was like oh yeah
Starting point is 00:10:49 Like, this is, these are hitting for me in a way where, yeah, I'm not, I'm not, like, in love, but I do, like, I would put this on during Halloween time and, like, you know, have a, have a good time with that, you know, put it on while I'm doing some stuff. Right. And, like, yeah, at least, like, I have a strong sense of goodwill. Yeah. Even though, yeah, it's, it's not, like, more than what it is, but I think for what it is, it hits pretty well. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. Yeah, it's one of those.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I think it's that thing of like not everything has to be Pixar and I'm okay with that. Exactly. And I think for you know doing something different and doing something that's yeah more family more cartoon and all that yeah I think this stuff is quite charming.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It's like more of a taste thing yeah too where I'm like because this will definitely hit home as a fun as a family fun film and especially with kids. Yeah yeah yeah and then for just like Halloween time vibes. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:11:45 If you just want to feel Halloween-y throw these on in the background for sure agreed uh they did it looks like uh swap out a silo for kegan michael key on the mummy murray the mummy uh and then yeah yeah uh oh molly shannon's in there and frandresher too and yeah you had megan malallie and nick offerman uh rob riggle it was melbrooks you're right and okay melville brooks oh and chattan was cakey there you go and dana carvey in there too was he the first one i can't remember either way let's read a little bit of triv. Oh, in fact,
Starting point is 00:12:20 Celo Green, first fact, did not reprise his role as the voice of Murray the mummy due to being arrested. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Keegan Michael Key replaced him for the film, same said for Hotel Vansansans Transylvania three summer vacation next summer. We got to watch that.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Love that. And Hotel Transylvania for Transformania. Wow. He got arrested. Look at that. The parents of Jonathan are voiced by real life, husband and wife, Nick Offerman and Megan Malali. You called that out during the movie.
Starting point is 00:12:53 You are the trivia today. Yes. You're Andrew Gordon for this video. In many cultures, notably Greek people with red hair were believed to become vampires upon death. Oh, my goodness. It is quite fitting, therefore, that Johnny and Dennis have red hair. It is unknown, however, if this is an intentional reference. Oh, interesting.
Starting point is 00:13:11 I like that little bit of trivia. I didn't know that. Well, who knows? I mean, maybe they'll take advantage of this in a lot. future sequel right this film takes place seven years after the first hotel transylvania and dracula is 539 years old mavis is 125 and jonathan is 28 i love that that they did the map was this made to seven years later i see that's what i was i don't think so i think they're like timing it on their age yeah that would that would make some sense
Starting point is 00:13:43 okay yeah because this is only three years later but yeah i was like oh they're just like like they're just doing the mask on it. They're just jumping right to be married. All right. Okay. Totally. I want to take a quick moment to thank today's sponsor Acorns. I first heard about this investment app from Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Not directly. I just saw an ad for it. And I was like, let's try this out because let's be real. Investing can feel like a daunting task. And many people, myself included, don't know where to start most of the time. I have many friends who invest impart their wisdom to me and I still get overwhelmed by the thought of it. Plus, there's this myth that you need a ton of money to get started. So with our busy lives, it's very easy to put on.

Because we're dealing with finances, it's important for me to say this. Paid non-client endorsement. Compensation provides incentive to positively promote Acorn. Investing involves risk. Acorns Advisor LLC and SEC registered investment advisor view important disclosures at acorns.com slash rejects all that being said i do vouch for them and so does dwayne the rock johnson uh jonathan's vampire disguise outfit is modeled after gary oldman's elderly version of dracula and brum stokers uh and apparently melbrooks based his voice of lad on his own grandfather's voice uh so there you go let's go to the spoiler
Starting point is 00:15:39 i didn't realize it said that this is the 10th film that adam sandler and kevin james Wait, what's his name? Kevin. Kevin James. Kevin James. Who is saying it right. Yeah, it's like the 10th feature that they've been in together. I like that. It's actually Kevin Jameez.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Oh, yeah, they're in a bunch of stuff together. I feel like they're boys. Yeah. If you look closely enough when they are at the camp, you can see tiny fangs poking in Dennis's mouth where his lost tooth, where he lost his tooth. This leads to the ending with his fangs. Oh, my gosh. So if you look closely enough. Yeah, a little deets like that.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Because I really didn't. think when he was falling from the big tower that like wings came out and then the his grandpa saved him that's why i went like wait what was it's yeah the shot is just perfect enough where you're like are those Dennis wings or those flat wings yeah exactly is he batten out yeah uh what do we got annum sandler's daughter sadie voiced winnie oh wayne's only female wolf pup and dennis's Zing. Love that. Recurring theme,
Starting point is 00:16:44 Zing. Zing is a term used in both films to describe true love between two people. Of course. My Zing. That's right.
Starting point is 00:16:53 You're my Zing. That's right. The first time. Ah, of course. Recurring theme. Acceptance of humans. And Hotel Transylvania, Dracula finally accepts
Starting point is 00:17:01 Johnny and his kind in this movie. Vlad's father. I mean, Vlad, Dracula's father, must do the same with Dennis and his human background. That is that is a fact
Starting point is 00:17:11 about this movie. I feel like we're getting a little loose with what we're calling. I mean, that is a spoiler fact, but it's not really trivia. Agreed. Recurring theme, disgusting or disguising humans and judgment of humans in the first movie. Obviously, Johnny's disguised and then in this movie, he's disguised again. Yep. That's again, that's just an observation more than a news trivia.
Starting point is 00:17:34 The wooden mask seat on the walls of the castle. On several occasions, I was noticing that could be a reference to a similar mask given to Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson. in Parks and Recreation. Oh, that's cool. Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt gifted the mask to Swanson when they returned from their Hawaiian honeymoon. Cool. Yeah, that big, like, that like Tiki style one. Yeah, I love that.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Yeah. It's like so prominent next to the door. When Johnny is talking with drag at the front desk, a digital screen can be seen saying nonstop flights to the Bermuda Triangle and Atlantis. Foreshadowing Hotel Transylvania 3. Oh, that's a spoiler. Oh, I'll do my best to forget that. Yeah. But also excited.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Me too. Because let's go. Bermuda. Let's go to Bermuda, Jamaica. Ooh, I want to take it to Bermuda. Bahama. Come on, pretty mama. Key Largo, Montigo.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Oh, I want to take it to the Kokomo. Look at that fashion and we'll take it slow. That's where we want to go We did it We did it. We're so good. Have a good time, guys. Good night. Chris Whammon.
Starting point is 00:19:01 The man who we could always rely on To come in during our live streams To suddenly make it feel like Hey, this live stream was working. it. Hey, we don't have to stress about everyone's hourly pay now being paid off because Chris Whamoff takes care of it. You are the executive producer. You literally keep those live streams liven up every single time. You're the concierge of the reject hotel. You are a perfect person to shout up for Hotel Transylvania because if there's anyone who's more likely to hone a hotel,
Starting point is 00:19:34 it's going to be you with all the... Is that part of the shot? I think Chris just entered my body. I feel like a hundred fifteen percent better. Yes, and that hotel business, man, I'm telling you the real estate that you can make, if you were to take all the money that you have put into our live streams and can put it into a hotel. Oh, man, imagine that hotel. I mean, that would be worth like hundreds of dollars. I would pay so many dollars to stay at your hotel, especially if it was like a little bit spooky. Probably afford a couple of chairs of that hotel.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Absolutely. Plus, you know that any Chris Hotel, he's going to be. be there just doing stuff to help you out. He is like the concierge and the butler and the mate. Wow. You go to hotels with all? We both have been to one one time. And you used? I did not use the butler. I felt very strange trying to
Starting point is 00:20:23 summon the butler or the idea of trying to summon the butler. I didn't do it. But if Chris was there, we wouldn't have to summon him. He would just be there. Chris would just be what Chris doesn't realize is I really do want to go to his wedding. I would like to go to your wedding. Chris, invite us to your wedding.
Starting point is 00:20:38 He has. And he said it would pay for us to go. And I was like, dude, you know how to do that? Like, no, I'm putting what I would have paid for the wedding itself into your trip to get to the wedding. I would literally love to go. That would be so fun to watch you get married. I'd give a speech and everything. Yeah, dude.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Take the spotlight. Give a toast. You know, ingratiate yourself to all of Chris's friends. I hope that your friends recognize us. Otherwise, it's going to be kind of weird. Yeah, it doesn't mean anything. if you're not spreading the good word and forcing your friends
Starting point is 00:21:10 to share your exact same taste in YouTube. If people don't recognize us when we go places, it's just socially uncomfortable. It's not going, all right. I don't know how to, yeah, interact with people who aren't in awe of me.
Starting point is 00:21:21 You know, sometimes they have like a slide show of the couple. I think if you're just playing our real rejects videos at the wedding, it'll just make us feel more comfortable. Probably make your guests feel more comfortable, too, really, when you think about,
Starting point is 00:21:33 I don't want to see those photos. Yeah, make a playlist of your favorite reaction. Oh, yeah. Dude, trust me. And then the way we would be able to blend into your party would be seamless. Dude, you would never know we were in there. All of our conversations now, we don't really know how to conversalist.
Starting point is 00:21:48 People know us in advance now. Yeah, yeah. It's like, what else are we going to talk about? Yeah. I want to answer, how do you make money on YouTube? Yes, the ads. And for people to be impressed by a subscriber account, even though they don't watch the channel. These are the conversations I look forward to on every social event.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Oh, yeah. And I hope to have it at your wedding. Oh, because that's just going to be the greatest, most cherished memory. Yeah. I can't wait to educate people. Oh, when they ask like, oh, so those ads that run, yeah, that's how you get, it's always a fun. Every time. It's always fun.
Starting point is 00:22:23 And I can't wait to share that love with your family. If I don't skip the ads. Yes, it does. Oh, my God. Yeah. I love to answer these questions. And how we got started. I would love to answer all that repetitively at your wedding.
Starting point is 00:22:34 And with every person. Please, Chris. Your extended family. your childhood friends, the staff who is catering the event. Yeah, I'm ready. And I'm also ready to hear what ideas they have for what we can do, even though they've never seen our channel. I really feel like there's so many good things.
Starting point is 00:22:52 I had an idea for a YouTube video. You should do that. Yeah. Even if it's not got anything to do with the thing that you do. I swear to God, I hope your family is ready to pitch us once they learn who we are. Oh, yeah. Get those ideas flowing. Get them going.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Chris. Invite us. Come on. Hotel tickets. Don't be a cheap bitch. Tell Transo-Lam-off. Put us up at a nice hotel. Put us up at the Ritz. I'm talking to Marriott and Tagalog. Put us there. He ain't married in the Philippines, John. What is the
Starting point is 00:23:24 Filipino Marriott name? Is it just called? Just a little bit more of an enunciation. Gotcha. Yeah. Mariotto. It's very church of street, Chris. Thank you.
