Tata!
Yes!
Got anything else to let the people know?
No, I'm ready.
All right, it's time for room service.
Let's do this thing.
All right.
We're going to do a quickie switcheruny because things are happening in the studio.
We're going to go on a vacation of our own.
In fact, let's see if I...
and work a lot of magic here.
Yeah.
One and a two and a...
And we're back.
Look at that.
That was cool.
Magic, Tara.
Yeah, magic.
Supernatural happenings here at the Real Rejects.
What did you think?
Hotel Transylvania 3.
Did you enjoy yet another stay?
I did.
I actually did like this one more than the second one.
I thought...
Got your wish.
I'm doing my ranking.
I thought that it was a lot of fun.
I love Catherine Hahn.
I was having such a hard time placing her voice.
And then once we realized it, I was like,
oh my God, I love her so much.
I just think she's such a phenomenal actor.
So I'm really glad that she was in this.
And I thought it was really cute
how there was like a little bit of a callback
to how Drak first felt about
Maeve getting married in the very first one.
And now the roles have reversed, right?
With Maeve being a little bit jealous,
thinking she's going to lose her dad
if he goes and goes on a date or eventually gets married and moves on.
But obviously we come to a big happy ending.
And I'm like, oh, my God, they already are like engaged,
which I think is super cute.
So I thought it was a lot of fun.
It also had a lot of those kid moments,
a lot of physicality in the humor that obviously kids would be laughing their heads off at.
Like me.
Yeah, it's a very like family-friendly film.
I'm not as much into the physical comedy side
unless it's with like families.
That's right.
Get rid of the family.
Get rid of the nuclear family
and anything that appeals to them.
I feel like I really like physical comedy
more in a live performance
like in an actual human being
because in a cartoon you can kind of do whatever.
But I really loved the DJ faceoff at the end.
Like he finally got to show his DJing skills.
because and the line like once you're a bar mit a DJ at a bar mitzo you're always a bar mitzo
i love that line and that was a lot of fun with the music back and forth and it just felt
um lively and fun i liked it absolutely yeah i would agree i mean you know certainly these
movies are a bit sketch oriented or episodic in at least a number of the gags that they're
presenting to you and and yeah like uh i can understand you know prefering kind of uh the physical
the slapstick in a live setting. That's something that for me as a cartoon fan does work when
it's done with a particular amount of pizzazz, which again, like Gindy Tartikovsky, I think is,
you know, a veteran at those things. And so, yeah, whether it be in 3D or even little 2D
flourishes at the end during the credits, I find that stuff pretty joyous. And yeah, I mean,
this is certainly like a more, I don't know, to some degree, they're all a bit loose. You know,
you have your main plot line
and then there's a whole bunch of hijinks
and monster gags and stuff like that
to work in along the way.
But for what this isn't,
for where they've been going,
I thought this was a nice continuation.
You know,
Drak, obviously we've dealt with,
you know, him letting go of Mave and everything.
And, you know,
just the zing has been such a concept
throughout all of this that like,
yeah, you know,
dad deserves some love too after so long.
And that's at least a character detail
that is like,
He's got a little bit of pathos on it.
You know, he lost mom when Mavis was just a little girl, a little baby, and now finally, you know, he's filling that heart back up.
And yeah, like, you know, you can tell where it's probably going to go by the end.
But I still thought it was charming, you know, everything with, yeah, I think the twist of like, oh, it's Van Helsing's granddaughter and, you know, the forbidden romance of that, you know, it's a nice, you know, it's a bit of a trope.
But I think it's a nice call for something like this, especially when you are introducing an iconic character.
like a Van Helsing that is so important to all of Dracula lore.
Yeah.
And then just, yeah, mixing it in with the theme of all, you know,
crews and, you know, tropical vacation style settings and jokes and things like that.
I just thought it was really fun and imaginative.
Like the joy of each of these Hotel Transylvania movies in large part has been,
yeah, seeing the way they adapt the monsters and then seeing what kind of mishmash of,
you know, familiar environment.
scenario they can you know uh contrast with obviously who is involved and everything like that
yeah and you know i mean as far as we've come with the whole like oh you know monsters and people
they just coexist now like i don't know yeah it flows pretty nicely so even though you know these
aren't like the deepest in terms of like keeping a lore going or something like that like you know
episodically speaking they flow pretty naturally one to the other and i have yet to be disappointed
watching one of these and certainly you know the further you get into any franchise the greater
risky run of that happening but i thought the whole voice cast was really fun i really liked the
additions of jim gaffigan and katherine hawn and uh yeah i don't know i just think the imagination
through which they imagine all of these different monsters and stuff and then bringing in the bermuda
triangle and atlantis and everything like yeah there's i think you were pointing out like there's
some beautiful color and lighting and just design work on
display. So yeah, for like the tradition of, you know, feature length, you know, kind of
loony tunes-ish or, you know, more the loony tunes than the Pixar side of the sort of animated
comedy spectrum. Like these hit for me, certainly.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm excited to shout out today's sponsor because it is an app that I
have been using since before we partnered with them, which just makes my job easy. And I just
get to share with you something I really do love. And that is the Acorns app. Because money's involved,
I researched them extensively to make sure, like, they've got to be legit, right? You can find so
many positive reviews on them. There's one person here. Day themselves gave me a very positive
testimony about how it helped get them out of a bind once that they were in. And I can say that,
you know, I don't want to actually show my, but I have the app. Just as evidence. Because one of my
favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing. That's something that I think is really
important. It's really hard to get ahead in life for something like me who doesn't have a 401k who
really does need to invest money so that way I don't have to just work for money but have money
grow for me, have money work for me. It's an absolutely amazing start. Best part is you don't need a lot
of money to do it. You can literally start with your spare change. They make it easy to automatically
start saving and investing for you, your future, your retirement, your kids, whatever it may be that
you want to invest money for. Like I say, you don't need a lot of money. You don't even really need
expertise, which is the best part.
Acorns recommends an expert built portfolio that fits you and your money goals.
Then automatically invest the money for you.
So it takes a lot of this stressful decision-making fatigue out of the process.
I just love how I can let it do its thing and then I can just check it with my half like
a month later, a couple months later, see how they're awesome dollar roundup or whatever
my money investments I've gone into.
Literally, it's just awesome to see it grow.
Plus now you can open an Acorns later IRA and get up to a 3% match on new contributions.
So it's extra money for your retirement.
Cannot stress it enough.
It's made investing, especially as a jumping off point,
super easy, super stress-free, super straightforward.
It's all about small steps today making a big impact on your future.
Because from ACORNS, Muddy Oaks do grow.

Yeah, and like also with the big castle coming out of the water,
like that was a really great visual to me.
That was one of my favorites.
And they took their time on that.
And when, I forget what they call it, but the big...
Oh, the Cracken?
The Ersacan.
I wanted to say it's Ursula.
when Crackin like cuts through it
It's still, it just all
Especially in the end
Most of it all looked really beautiful and cool
The ending when the castle comes up
And Crackin is there
And like the big explosion next to them
And out of the water
I mean I loved all that
I thought that was awesome
And a really great great visual
Yeah yeah 100%.
I has some other idea across my mind
And now it's I think it's floating out to sea
Has it left?
you it might have done but either way yeah this was a nice little vacay yeah and uh and i yeah and he
found uh drag found love like that definitely i don't know how many hotel transylvania's there are but
obviously they're at least four oh really because i was going to say yeah they're obviously
setting us up to see drac married yeah with her yeah and what their life is going to look like
and i would be very interested to see like where would they take us in because
now they're actually one big happy family.
Yeah.
Right?
And it makes me wonder about how this will move as an ensemble going forward.
Because I feel like the first movie you had, the very sort of ingrained motif that, yeah, Mavis is growing up and she's met this guy and he's going to have to let go of her and let her live and all that stuff.
And since then, I mean, I do feel like the dynamics of the ensemble are a little bit less.
like, you know, Mavis and Johnny in this movie are there there and they have impact on things.
They're not like not present or not characters, but they're not like heavily the focus anymore.
And that's not necessarily like a bad thing.
Like it didn't detract from the movie, but it is something that you notice because they are like such important characters the first time around.
And then as of the second one and now the third, they're more just part of the overall ensemble.
And, oh, the invisible man must have been, you know, right?
running through the room in a hurry.
He was like, no, Spider-Man in here.
I am surprised there's not more spider stuff in these movies
unless I'm just like forgetting.
Except that ring was like finally.
But yeah, once you said that, I was like,
oh, yeah, you're right.
We haven't seen any spiders who are actually characters within this.
I'm like, maybe the first one, but I don't even,
nothing that really stands out in my mind.
I'm sure someone in the comments will correct us.
Yeah, I like to ring a lot.
Yeah.
That was fun.
I thought that was nice.
But yeah, everyone does an appealing job with the voice acting and everything.
And, yeah, like, you know, ultimately when it is Johnny's moment to step up and help with the DJ or even Mavis, you know, looking out for dad and then having to, you know, learn to let go.
Like, even if some of that stuff is like a little slight in terms of like, I were not spending so much time with like this character's POV, everything for the most part for what this is and for the, you know, kind of storytelling it's going for in the traditional.
of animated comedy it's going forward nothing about that felt like ah you know something is majorly
missing from this movie it's just kind of interesting because you have such a high profile voice cast
yeah like it's it's like in a Pixar we would have spent more time with um the dad and the daughter
and that and that her really feeling that loss yeah um and then with katherine han and like growing
into that um but again like you said with this type of movie we don't need
as much time. We know
that they're not going to put in, they're going to put
like sort of a minimal to get the point
across and move on
quicker because I think
also, because it keeps kids attention a lot
better. I mean, this is like
really aimed for kids and adults.
Like it's enjoyable, but I think
definitely aimed for.
Yeah. Slightly toward the kidder side
of the family spectrum, but not so
kid that, yeah, like, I've had a blast.
Totally. I agree with you
on that. Yeah. Yeah. And it's, it's
such the two they need to part of the funning games is you're cutting around to the various
you know you got frank and you got murray and you got the wolves and you've got the blob and you know
it's an ensemble and and it's supposed to be somewhat sketch and you're supposed to have a lot of
different gags and things like that and i think you know still they've managed to come up with
bits and things that are pretty clever and pretty fun and and feel pretty inspired and at least
unified as of this movie yeah and uh and yeah i like the update of like oh ben helsing what's
going to happen there um so so far so good for me i think i might agree uh what did you say one three
two or three yeah i think because i'm like one was such a while ago and you guys know my
memory's absolute shite dude we'll rewatch it new new reaction yeah but i think i think one three
two okay yeah all right well what's your ranking gang leave it down in the comments below along
with any other of your thoughts on this movie.
Got some good happy bops in this thing as well.
