Because what is it?
Are we in the end game now?
The next episode will be seven and then eight.
And the show is done.
And then the show is over.
And no more Game of Thrones spin-offs.
And then you try to figure out how to connect it to Game of Thrones now.
That chasm of time.
Do a quick jump ahead in the last episode.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
That was quite, quite gripping.
Gee, what are you thoughts?
I thought that was a fun ride.
I thought this was the most cohesive and impressive.
episode they've done maybe not the most exciting me because there's no crazy dragon battle shit
which i know is what people usually eat up and stuff and are like best episode ever my god
crazy intense i'm not mocking you guys sometimes i'm that good but the the this episode like
cut around it's so many storylines so many different storylines and every time we cut to one
it was very very engaging even ones that weren't as engaging prior suddenly became really engaging
You're watching the cohesiveness
I'll tether together in a way that makes a lot more sense.
Like when we first met this bastard child
who randomly, what's the guy's name?
Ulf.
Wolf?
Yeah.
Who randomly just dispels this information to people.
Yeah.
I'm just bragging.
Don't tell anyone.
Here's who I am.
Which I'm pretty sure they just did for the audience.
But then to see that they're looking for these dragon riders
and you know like, oh, this is how they're slowly forming an army of like
rejects, misfits coming together, you know?
I like that because they're not forming
like who's next in the royal line to
inherit a dragon. They're literally going
like to the outcasts and I think
that's such a cool alliance like
this to me is one of the benefits of not having
read the book because it's like
it's all surprise, this is all very exciting
and there are no changes
to be mad about. Yeah. Whereas like
I'm like, did we really hear it actually make
out with his mainly chick or is something
that could be made for the drama here?
So yeah I think it's all coming
together really well and
to me is just a great cathartic moment of watching them like i love that genius art of war strategy
when they drop the the food into king's landing to make themselves so great look like we actually
care about you people yeah versus these other and we're being yeah like kept at a distance but
even despite that distance yeah we're still going to to care for you but um i don't know it's kind
It's kind of hard to just, like, truncate all these thoughts into one, so I'll set you up for something specific, John.
Yeah, toss me the rock.
Al-Upe.
Okay.
Let's do the camp of Amund, Alicent, Laris, and Agon.
Yeah.
Tag team that.
I feel like one of my favorite things about watching any Game of Throne adjacent thing.
What I mean by that is what my favorite thing is about Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon is when you have those moments, those episodes where you're kind of setting whatever established order of the moment up for its eventual like scatter shot, you know, into other directions.
New alliances are slowly growing.
Others are ripping apart.
And yeah, like, you know, Amund as the leader of the council as the king, you know, regent or whatever, you know, his.
Prince Regent.
Prince Regent.
You get it right.
I know.
You were the one on top of it this episode.
Except for mere moments ago, because Males is a dragon.
Dragon man.
What did I call her?
Maylees is the dragon's name.
What's her actual name?
I always, every episode when they say it, I'm like, this is the time I'll remember it.
Is it like Missaria or something like that?
Every time I'm like, this time I don't know why I have such trouble with your name in particular.
But no, yeah.
watching as Amon lords over things and, you know, is clearly using his intimidating presence,
but also, you know, like his brother still isn't actually great at seeing the big picture and really, you know, playing politics.
And so it's like funny what he's like dishing out to Laris.
Yeah.
When I'm like, here's why I don't like you.
I'm like, you're kind of those qualities too.
Yeah.
Like some loyalty or line, you know, example you are.
But, yeah, we got, we got, that's your name on this list.
Oh, my God, come on, come on, either way.
Name on this list.
Give me more.
But yeah.
If you can lift, oof, before the, it was a hurt.
What the hell?
Yeah, that's making me sense.
Jesus, what's her, what's her nickname, White widow?
White, it's not white worm?
Yes, yes, yeah.
Why is the dragon, white worm character?
oh it is missaria yeah okay yeah yeah okay yeah okay um yeah the one time
george armarin does not make a name sound like just some rhyme yeah right why can't i
commit this to remember yeah well and there's other characters do who have had like sort of close
name so i'm like melissandra but anyway yeah uh yeah watching that whole thing play out like i
I feel increasingly bad for, like, the weird, like, Allison is in such a sort of torturous position always.
And certainly during season one, there were a lot of times where I'm like, you know, you brought the sun yourself.
But the further things go, the worse I feel for her.
And I'm curious to see where her allegiance ultimately goes or winds up because it certainly seems as of these events, like, you know, she's further away from any grasp or just like means of mitigating.
you know the foregone conclusion of you know
a man's uh just tyrannical uh you know approach to rule and then yeah watching him
you know go in and clearly in his subtle way menace his brother and then laris and all that
stuff yeah like the allegiances that seem like they're going to be formed are fascinating and
it makes me excited for the long game of those things because what makes these developments you know
So gripping is usually that, yeah, now you get to watch as, you know, plans are woven in plain sight, but also in secret and stuff like that.
So like a Laris and Aegon alliance of some kind seems fascinating.
I don't know exactly what to expect out of that, depending on how Agon is healing and whatnot, because they keep making a big deal out of the league.
He's only awake, like, a little bit here and there.
But they intentionally medicate him to be sleeping a lot of the time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that idea that Laris instills in him of like, you're going to have to be in some more pain. But in doing so, you'll open up the opportunity to sharpen your mind. And, you know, it's a fascinating prospect for a character like Agon who it's like, yeah, on the surface, Amen certainly seems like the more calculated, the more thought. Not thoughtful, but like the person who thinks more. And now the opportunity.
More strategic in every way.
Yeah. And the idea that maybe A.M.
gone might actually unlock some of that ability or some of that tendency that they both, you know, inherit from the family that they came up in, is an exciting one, too.
And the dangling carrot of Otto.
Who's going to find him first and in what state will they find him?
And part of me is like, you know, if Alicent were to reach him.
It's going to be retired, chopping wood.
He's going to be, his beard will be even bigger.
Yeah.
And they're like, we're going to need you to come back into the game.
I retired.
I left that life behind a long time ago.
Now I let other people govern my life.
But yeah, that question mark is interesting because I don't know exactly what direction it would go.
And part of me sort of anticipates like, ah, man, if A.
Amen gets to him first, I could totally see Otto being the kind to use the opportunity rather than to like, you know,
listen to the appeal, whatever appeal
Allison might make. I think Amon
I think Otto hates his grandchildren.
His grandchildren were always never really
true grandchildren to him.
They were simply pawns to get
High Tower on throne.
They were never, like he
ate, the entire time he was like
Amen, I hope or not conspiring
with Kristen behind the council's back
and then Agon totally betrays him.
Yeah. Doesn't even treat him like a grandson,
you know. And
I think it'll be
Allison who gets to him first
Because, yeah, I know as much as you feel
You constantly feel bad for her
But I'm like, nope, you had it coming
I'm not gonna let
I'm not gonna let the fact that
You're an attractive woman make me feel bad
That's why.
That's why, John, I know how your brain works.
It's not the tragedy of her character
That appeals to me.
It's that hot redhead energy.
She done messed up.
She's done cruel things.
She's done.
She even know she made a mistake.
She did.
She forced all this.
This is all my fault.
A lot of it is her fault.
Misunderstanding is my fault.
And I think that her performance is so good, though, because I constantly find her captivating to watch.
Yes.
Despite me never coming close to siding with her, I'm like, close to siding with her.
John, that's exactly.
I was saying, those were my words.
my words were John is siding.
That's what I said.
You didn't just take what I said.
You were like in contrast to you.
And then suddenly defend your, no.
Who loves Allison?
I wasn't in, I wasn't in.
John, please.
This is the reason why I'm wearing this shirt today.
We got to be professional.
We do.
There's a camera pointed at us.
I might say something that gets me canceled,
then I can't afford that right now.
Pointed cancellation.
There's a lot of people depending on me.
You're depending on you for an opinion.
So I got to get this out.
Yeah, my bad.
my bad take the stage
you got to remind me we're talking about
Allison Allison yes
Allison is a great character
and the
I forgot what I was to say honestly
I don't really because she's such a good
performer even if you're not ever really
sympathizing with or siding with her
I get the character
like I can have those moments of like
oh damn Eamon's doing her dirty
and I'm not like yeah stick it to her
even I can feel bad
I can feel bad for her.
It's the lesser evils, yeah.
I can feel bad for her in, like, a moment like that.
He's like, you have no idea what this woman is.
You get your assy.
Yeah, it's just a gratitude.
The only reason you're Prince Richard right now is all the shit she pulled.
Yeah, yeah.
But that's what I mean.
It's like the high tower curse of all the things that they go.
They're always getting booted out.
Yeah.
And, and Amon is so scary.
And, and it's such a great navigator and he commands.
And he knows how to lead.
He leads with fear, though.
Oh, he doesn't give a shit about the little small,
All folk.
The Cirrus was like warm.
You feel like anyone could approach him and have a conversation with him.
He was a real leader.
And you could tell he really cared about people.
Yeah, you just look in your eyes and make you feel like you're the only person in the room.
Versus when that Targaryian blood got mixed with that high tower selfishness.
Now it's all about fear monger, fear ruling.
And it's terrible stuff.
Yeah.
But yeah, I like these little details like, damn, amen.
If you weren't such a dick to Laris, you wouldn't be.
teaming up there with agon because i find that such compelling drama of
agon's the king in bed and he's the king and he's terrified he's going to get killed and he's
afraid to speak up when he literally could just say amen tried to kill me kill him you know he
could he could he could he could but he's that terrified of him yeah well yeah and i mean
you know like i feel for his plight because yeah it's like it's like it's like
like at that point
yeah it's all yeah
I don't know it's that thing of like who can you
I feel like you could sympathize
with the bad guys John well yeah
there's art of filming and from his
POV there's nobody you can trust
until Laris like you know
I and I'm fascinated to see what
because I'm sure if he
really kind of gets to that point with Laris
that he does trust him he'll probably reveal the truth
but I'm sure there will be some kind of
of other you know long con
we can't just go strike him down
you know kind of thing
and yeah
just like I don't know that's
you know you said earlier
compelling drama like this was
this
the show has had compelling drama
across you know this season
certainly but this was an episode
where I felt like yeah
there's like a real convergence
of compelling like character
it's like yeah when those episodes
when you have one of those episodes
that doesn't have any major battles
but still feels like that gripping
or that exciting or like you know
big things are still happening you know
there's cool dragon shit yeah i like that a lot i mean you know you you kind of figure like oh okay
this thing with uh with sir stephen is not going to work out but uh but yeah i like the i like
where they chose to go with that because with the ulf side of things you're like i'm sure
we'll get there um and then with the uh oh is his name adam the other guy you know i like
that too because you know he's had it's like his brother is giving is being given this command by
Coralus and everything like that reluctantly and certainly he's the brother who feels like the odd one out, you know, even though they're both odd out in certain ways. And so then to have that, you know, come to him. I'm very curious about too, because it's, you know, clearly the dragon was like compelled by him. So, uh, you know. Maybe it kind of goes back to what Alice Rivers was saying. Alice Rivers, drummer.
It kind of goes back to
I just took that gum out of its case
And then I just crushed it
And now it fell in the ground
It's worthless
You get to chew it
I don't know how to chew it
Because we had this mic so close
Because Alice Rivers had that thing about
Those who want
Or usually want it for like selfishness reasons
Selfish reasons
Versus those who
Like it's a burden to get to
there's a there's a responsibility that's a burden and and having the power to um lead a dragon
you know and as much as people are like as much as it seems like wow I'm a dragon rider I'm
the shit and you know and it's kind of the way how that like he wasn't bad but he certainly
seemed super eager like ooh I got a dragon it didn't seem like there was anything malicious
at all any ill intent so I don't know if I'm like way off base here maybe it's just for
narrative purposes to have someone die
to show the consequences of it. But
for some reason it didn't choose him,
whereas this other guy who was terrified
of the trade, he was absolutely terrified.
He was still chosen, but he wasn't seeking
it, you know? Well, and it makes me wonder,
I guess, yeah, it must be some kind of
deeper, you know, blood-related
thing or something.
Medi-chlorians. It's the midi-chlorian.
I mean, you know, it's
Game of Thrones world
midi-chlorians, you know.
because I got to imagine
he doesn't have the same hair color as his brother
but they both have to share
some kind of royal ancestry that I'm sure
yeah C-smoke must have just picked up on
I feel like that's a big part of it
because if Darklin also had some of that
some royal Targaryen blood somewhere
I'm sure it's probably just like a weird random assessment
of like you got enough or you got the right kind
No, we're going to cook you.

All that being said, I do vouch for them.
And so does Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
It kept seem like they're building up Allen to be the one to be that guy.
So I think it was a smart.
I wonder if in the book it is Alan.
There's a smart diversion, I think, to make it Adam.
Or maybe they both get dragons.
And then everyone's hip, hip, hooray.
We're leaving the sea behind.
We're leaving the sea behind.
Going to the sky or the sky.
We're going air and fire.
What do you think about Damon and, damn, freaking, what's his name?
Padding Constantine?
Patty Concedon.
Patty Conceding, yeah.
Yeah, he just delivers.
He's so good at that character.
He gave him more to do than, like, Millie Alcock showed up to just be like, I am creepy nightmare version.
But he's like, he's like back in full on performance here.
Yeah, no, totally.
Damn, he just like slips into these great.
Yeah, and it gives you this feeling of like, even though they are brief moments and they're like different perspectives, at least at times on things we've already seen, like you do feel like you're being privy to.
some kind of familial
some kind of tragic
but you know still familial bond
which is like interesting because obviously
like you know you had that when they were both alive together
but to see like the softer sides
and the more anguish sides of Damon coming up
and his denial and all sorts of things like that
true true pit it against this
and too like it's got to be interesting to play
you know the figment of somebody's dream
because you know you bring the flavors
of your own take on the character but you're also sort of
subtly informed, I'm sure, via the writing by the subconscious of Damon.
Yeah, you're playing the perspective that Damon has of you.
Yeah, yeah.
And so, like, again, Patty Constantine's strong performer anyway,
but I really like the way he complimented this.
And I do, it does make me appreciate better.
I don't know.
Like, it's not even like it was hard to see exactly what's been happening with Damon,
but I have appreciated it more as of this episode as this sort of long unraveling.
Not going to lie, I didn't see it.
I didn't get what the hell the point of the visions were.
I mean, it just seems like it's...
I know he was, like, facing shit, but it didn't...
It wasn't crystal to me until now, like, oh, he's going through, like, stages of grief.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He literally gets selected at the acceptance point at this final stage here.
Yeah, and he's removed from...
It's like, it's a combination of things.
It's like he's got the influence of whatever Alice Rivers is, whatever juju she's working on him.
No, no, no, it's the strong guy who's doing it.
It's...
It's Lord...
Damon is smart.
White beard is strong, yeah.
He doesn't...
There's not one suspect.
He put his knife in that dude's mouth.
Not once is he's just going to be like,
you're doing something to me, which?
Yeah.
It's like, what are you doing?
You, the person here I have allowed closest to me
and have treated with the least amount of suspicion.
It can't be coincidence that you're always the one waking me up at his damn bitchy.
Yeah.
I'm always those it up right next to you.
Interesting.
But yeah, like the long game of that I'm at least appreciating more as of this.
And I wonder what it's going to do to the character.
because, I mean, Damon, certainly, like, the trademark is that there is that...
I think it's going to bring him back to Renair.
Sure, yeah.
And I wonder in what temperance or temperament, I guess, because, you know, he's such a...
Polyamish relationship.
Definitely.
I mean, I'm sure he would be thrilled.
TVH.
I'm sure he'd be fine with this.
But, yeah, just what his countenance, what his disposition is going to be upon facing and potentially
letting go of something.
these things. Not that I'm expecting him to be like a very different character, but, you know,
I mean, maybe some of those vindictive and or treacherous, sort of traitorous elements of his,
you know, his countenance will change or shift. I don't know. Like, he and Amund both represent
these wild cards that are very similar, but also quite, you know, different. It's like, you know,
they could both kind of overflow at any moment and they're both prone to like outbursts or displays of dominion and uh and yeah like as much as i get why and i have shared some of the sentiment of like what is going on with damon this season you know because he was so gripping the first time around like i do appreciate that like in this position of deprivation at heron hall you know he's whether it be through magic or yeah or just like being kind of isolated from all the stuff that he thrived
on it's like there's no doesn't seem like there are any real brothels here to go get caught up in doesn't
seem like there are any battles happening for him to deal with you know he's sort of he's doing this
sort of drudge work here that has opened this door up for him to have a character journey on his own
which is at least interesting who's the other sister the one that's not baila reina
is it is it yes yes yeah rena is the younger one who's stuck with the late
Developments now.
Yeah, yeah, with Jane Aaron.
And her, like, that was the other thing.
I was wondering, like, if they would maybe clear her to ride a dragon or something.
I wonder some of the ones that are not as strong of episodes in this season will feel stronger when you watch it as a whole.
Because I still wouldn't call this a show where I'm like, they should release it all at once or it'll be better to watch.
Like, I still think it's event TV.
I still think it's something you should watch once a week.
that being said i am wondering for on a rewatch purpose if it'll be better when you watch it as a whole
like in a binge for some of the weaker not as strong episodes maybe they'll actually grow in strength
i can see that for sure especially when you kind of have an idea where it's going then you could
appreciate what they're doing then yeah you know because i feel like that's what i have a lot of
the story some of the storyline like even stuff of rain i'm like yeah kind of whatever to me
but even this was like a little more interesting yeah and it seems like they're cutting around to
the players who will be, like, the new dragon riders.
Yeah.
Like, Ulf.
Yeah.
He's definitely going to...
I mean, he...
It's the only purpose to cut to it.
Yeah, I mean, Ulf, and then there's also, like, that same poor couple, the ones who, like, make the, are they the weapon makers?
What are they, what's their job?
Is he like a blacksmith?
Yeah, yeah.
I think so.
Yeah, the beard guy and his wife.
He was in the first episode.
I think he was asking for a coin for that.
Um, Alster Dragon, Ulf, a character.
He's, he's the son of, of, uh, of, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
Beyond the Braves, King Jaharis.
Okay.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Who's he the son of?
He's the son of King Vesaris.
And there's his endemic.
He's, okay.
So, yeah, he's, he's, uh.
He's a son of Baylon Targaryen.
Oh, never mind.
So he's like a.
He's like a brother.
Yes.
Yeah, there you go.
He's a half-brother.
We got there.
If he's the son of Vassaris and Damon's father,
he's a half-brother.
Put a little text there.
Yeah.
Clarify.
We eventually realized that we got the memory wrong.
It's all good.
I mean, again, this is a show for which,
and this, you know, certainly this episode had me going like,
okay, I gotta go back, I gotta drop a map again
of make sure I know where all the dragons are,
check that one girl, is she the same girl from season one,
did she die, did she just get shuffled around,
and then the lineage of Ulf, and with that,
I mean, we've only had the one, as of the show,
we've only had the one scene of him going off
about his lineage and stuff like that,
so it's, you know, I feel like we could take a pass on that one.
Sure.
Yeah, it's great.
Super compelling episode, and a lot of mood
and I definitely
the whole thing with Renira
and Misari
I thought was like jokes aside
I like that development a lot and it makes a lot of sense
because they do seem like the two
people especially a dragonstone
capable of sort of
understanding each other on a
on a deeper level and also understand
like the struggles of
you know
not being a man in this society
I've been loving her character a lot
yeah I love that she's kind of like the
the ghosts she's like the hand to her essentially yeah
and she's like more than that she's a real friend yeah and
it provides a lot of warmth and I love
the agency she's been getting this season I if I think
if she's a character I think is really improved upon from season one
oh yeah that was a moment that we were joking about happening and then it happened
I was like hell yeah and then they played some scary ass music and I was like this must be
bad news yeah well yeah I mean
anytime like a good development comes up I'm like what tragedy is about to befall them now
you know at the end of the day she's still wed to damon and uh I think it's worse if you know
it's obviously worse like if Damon goes and hooks up with someone like oh I just got her
bastard kid in development where for the woman does it you're like oh oh no banish her yes
and you know what society's totally changed on that yeah I got
to say we've come a long way i gotta say we've come a long way yeah now it's about women having
high counts and men keep it low that's right get that get that bodies that is bodies bodies bodies
we live in we do and everybody's making more love than ever embrace women with high counts and
shame men with low counts that's right that's right that doesn't make sense we shame men with high
counts yes we embrace women with high counts yeah exactly and women with low counts we're like okay
fist bump now and then and you're like dude keep it in your pants yeah be celibate bro yeah yeah that's what's hip
nowadays radical is what the kids say rad that's that scene sorry that that scene in the city when the unrest is
breaking out i thought that was really effective really yeah oh because it's so multi-layered in all the
greatest ways and like and they like how they treat it with horror oh sure even though you're looking
Yeah.
Well, it's like,
but you're in their perspective.
So,
like,
because you hop between perspectives
of team green and team black.
Yeah.
And so when you're in their perspective,
you're like,
this is a terrifying situation.
And it's smart to throw Helena into that
because Helena is the only,
like,
arguably Helena is the only one on that team.
Who's like,
the good one?
Yeah.
Who deserves to be spared.
Yeah, yeah.
She's like the only good one.
Yeah.
And the, you know,
it's like we had them out for the person.
Like the way they've incorporated the small folk and the rest of, you know, King's Landing across the season has been interesting because we had the funeral procession at first. Where it was them to. Where it was them to. And it was all, it was flirting with becoming overwhelming, but not quite. And it was a different kind of grief being expressed from the crowd. And then, um, we don't care about your dead kid anymore. Yeah. Well, yeah. And then we had the dragon head procession, which is, you know, like a fulcrum point, like a turning point. And now, yeah, it's like full on unrest. And I did.
appreciate especially that threat
of this episode then being like hey
all the people who are actually living
in the city are like
a big part of what you've got to be thinking
about and someone like
I mean Agon
did you know at least
seems narcissistic enough that he wants
the people to like him whereas
Aemond doesn't seem to give a shit
about any of that stuff and so like
yeah the it's fascinating
to watch and I like that they have
yeah just just
You know, it's easy to forget about the rest of everybody who's not a royal or a knight or, you know, some big player in the game.
And so, yeah, I like the way that they've incorporated the changing sentiments of the small folk as a significant and, like, a crucial factor at play that, you know, is easy to forget about, you know, when you're machinating from the top, you know.
True.
True. Well, John, I think we said everything we have to say.
I think we said a lot of stuff.
We've got to go somewhere soon, so we should wrap this up.
Now, you guys got to say some stuff.
Let us know down in the comments what you thought of this episode
and why you're mad that they changed it from the book in some way, shape, or form.
And we'll catch you next week for the penultimate episode of season two.
It's been a good one.
Stay classy out there, peeps.
We'll catch you next time.
Chris Whamma.
Oh, man, if there's someone who's like a Rainera to King's Landing.
Oh, Chris Whamoff, you read with such poise.
You keep your cool despite chaos and doubt all the round.
And you're totally a secret lesbian.
You're a secret lesbian, which is the best kind of lesbian to be.
Or an out in the open lesbian.
Really, all lesbians are great.
But Chris Whamoff is the best lesbian.
Best lesbian.
I'm just saying.
Out of all the straight guys, we crowd all the straight guys.
Well, you know, maybe Chris just has lesbian energy.
It happens, you know.
Oh, yeah, I could see it.
Yeah, absolutely.
Plus, you know, Chris, you know, is you wouldn't make it very far in the world of a house of a dragon or a game of Thrones because, you know, you're too virtuous.
Too generous.
Which is why I'm glad you live on this part of the timeline so that we can benefit from just the goodwill that you bring to our hearts.
And feign appreciation.
You encourage us to be better people, not like.
the terrible people who live at Kingsland.
They're terrible people.
They're pretty bad.
But you could also learn a thing or two about, you know, how to rise in the world in the system from those people.
Ain't that true.
And maybe Chris, I don't know if you could start studying some of those things and incorporate both aspects into your life.
You know, benevolence and altruism and also, like, unceasing, you know, personal hunger for, you know, success.
And you've got one eye.
you got one eye man you're naked in one episode yeah there you go yeah we've tied it in man
got a dragon he's a dragon you're a dragon dragon dragon is a roar love you man you're on fire
ah yeah karach gunneria let me eat crabs
