Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) and co-written with Sam Lansky, the film brings back Jennifer Love Hewitt (Julie James – I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heartbreakers) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (Ray Bronson – She’s All That, Scooby-Doo) while introducing a new generation of characters haunted by a chilling hit-and-run mystery. Producer Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious, The Boys) ensures this continuation ties back to the 1997 original and 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. We break down the callbacks, the modern horror tone, and even nods to Julie’s legendary scream “What are you waiting for?!” as well as tease at the rumored post-credit setup for the future of the franchise. From Southport, North Carolina to Hollywood’s legacy of slashers, this sequel connects to the great horror revival of 2025 while honoring its roots. Along the way we compare it to the wave of horror films like Scream (1996–2023), Scary Movie, Longlegs, Get Out, and Nope. Join us as we cover every scare, twist, and Easter egg from this return to one of horror’s most iconic stories. Follow Coy Jandreau:  Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@coyjandreau?l... Starting point is 00:01:30 More on them in just a bit. I take myself so unsuriously. Yeah, that's true. I'd also want to tell you guys happy for Thursday, presumably. Or Wild Card Wednesday, whatever day it is. Happy that day to you guys. And without further ado, I know what you did last summer. Indeed.
Starting point is 00:01:57 We're going to do something that we've been doing for a couple months now, which we love, which is take patron questions. If you guys didn't know, you're a patron, you can ask us questions. That's how we do our reviews now. You guys ask better questions to us than we ask to each other. So the reviews are going great. And here we go. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Thanks for pulling this up, Coyette. All right. Pierre the Reject. Hell yeah. Which possible storylines for another legacy sequel? Do you think they could take from the post-credit scene? I'm so glad we waited. It's been really confusing.
Starting point is 00:02:37 All right. Well, Possible story. I mean, we were just kind of spitballing it maybe being, you know, her, the girl who survived, because obviously she'd want revenge for Ray. Right. So maybe that's who? Or, do we see Ray dead? I know we saw the harpoon through it.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Through his heart. Yeah, but we see funeral, body bag. That's true. Until you see the body like as a dead body. He saw Madeline get literally hooked and thrown in the water. That's true. So that. I also need to go back where there are any other survivors from two Brandy's movie? Mackay Fiver didn't make it.
Starting point is 00:03:17 No. Jack Black didn't make it. No. Jack Black would be a great third movie. Bring Jack Black in a Rasta accent back. Yeah, but I really. really do like that now we have our new gen and old gen like i think mixed yeah so the only one that didn't show up in this movie is ryan philippi ryan philippe yeah but he did did we saw his body
Starting point is 00:03:38 but he also wasn't in the second one right right but he died like we saw his body in the first one i don't know anymore man because that's why i'd want even if we see a body what's a body what's a body what's a body assena lee thoughts on the ray killer reveal thank goodness we didn't really Wow, that would have sucked. I have mixed feelings about this. A part of me was glad that they made this bold move because I thought it was going to be predictable and very
Starting point is 00:04:05 similar to other legacy slasher sequels like Screen 5, but then as someone who grew up watching this franchise, I was sad with how this character who was the final guy in the other two films changed. It's like making Dewey become ghost face. Do you guys think this ruined the franchise? It definitely was like making Dewey
Starting point is 00:04:20 ghost face, which I was afraid of them doing before. My thought is that I'm not as emotionally attached to this franchise because I didn't grow up on it like I did with Scream. We've watched them so quickly together. We just watched them. Yeah, exactly. I would have been incensed if they made Dewey Go's face.
Starting point is 00:04:36 I feel less attached to this franchise, but it does feel like it is a swing almost for the sake of the most extreme. And I imagine if I'd grown up on them, I'd be upset. I actually think it was a really smart choice here, though, because they didn't make him the killer fish hook man by himself. He was doing it to try to have. help a young girl so it's like I think he thought he was doing the right thing so it made a little
Starting point is 00:05:00 more sense and he's been hardened and he stayed in this town and the they forgot us thing actually kind of I feel like they justified it in a way that on paper I've been like that makes no sense but watching it I was like that was really cool because I think that it made it way more fun of a reveal that the older cast and younger cast were working together and the gentrificelation I did like that he was upset about his town being erased and like his culture is going away like it worked for me because I am one year into this franchise, but like your example of Dewey, I'd be upset. So
Starting point is 00:05:30 I need to settle into it to see how I feel, but it was a fun time. I just don't know if it, like, I don't think it ruined the franchise, but it definitely took me a back in a way that I'm not sure if it's a positive or negative. I think that's fair. Adriana Marie Marie Marie, aka D,
Starting point is 00:05:46 yeah, baby. I know what you did last summer. Do you think that they were able to successfully capture the tone and vibe for the previous two films? I like that we only call it two films. Nope, there is no third. There's no show. There's two films. And what do you think about Ray and Julie,
Starting point is 00:05:59 basically hating each other? Is there anything that wasn't in the script that you wish had been? And finally, what are your thoughts on Sarah Michelle Geller's dream sequence? Thanks so much, Roxy and Coy. Can't wait to see more reactions from y'all. Love from the Central Valley.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Love back to you. And I will just say this. We recently did Cloudy the Chance of Meatballs together and Cloudy the Chance of Meatballs, too, which was called something else. I still know what you did less meatballs. I still know about your meatballs, exactly.
Starting point is 00:06:26 It's still cloudy from meatballs. No, it's giving gross. It does have like it's giving venereal disease. It's still cloudy because of meatballs. Piss clear. My friend called and told me that and be like, get that check. You should probably go to seek help.
Starting point is 00:06:41 If it doesn't burn. But I will say, I know Koi, you're not much of a comment reader. I am a huge comment reader. I read everything you guys have to say. And Koi doesn't for his mental health. I have no mental health. And luckily, for me, they, really have been
Starting point is 00:06:55 viving with the family us together. Oh, that makes me really happy. Okay, good. Yeah, hell yeah. Boston gang, gang. There's got to be a Boston movie we haven't seen. I know. I've been thinking about that.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Like, if there's even one... Remember when we thought this franchise was going to be? We tried to force that so. We were like, that's New England. Cape Cod? That's Gloucester. Clearly Gloucester. But like, there's got to be one, and maybe it's even a good one.
Starting point is 00:07:15 But there's got to be a Boston movie. I know. I know. But I'm just, I'm happy that we're no longer on probation and that you guys are liking us together. So I'm glad that you want to see more reactions from us. This is the last of this franchise. So put in different reactions that you want to see us do in the comments. That is what you were asking
Starting point is 00:07:31 about though, but I just tangent did for a second. Greg and I have been doing the commentary stuff. Maybe we watch a classic Boston movie together and comment on it. Like me and you watch the Deppadded. Yeah, so fun. Or the town. I know immediately those are two. Like Mystic Rivah kit. My favorite Goodwill Hunting. Viva pitch. Yeah. Oh, Goodwill Hunting. We'll be amazing. We'll just quote it. We'll just yell quotes at the movie. How you like Dem Apple. Just the whole time, like, choose to find a sleep. Write it in the comments, guys.
Starting point is 00:07:59 You recommend stuff. Okay, but to what you were talking about, I, for the first part, I usually am a lover or love shipperships. So I usually am rooting for relationships and not divorces. However, real life really plays into this one. Yeah. And knowing that Sarah Michelle Geller and Freddie Prince, Jr., end up together in real life, makes me not want to see Freddie Prince Jr.
Starting point is 00:08:23 with Jennifer Love Hewitt as adults. Like, I don't care that they weren't together because it's like, you know. Because you know the dream sequence is like, that's his real life. Right. And they're so cute together. So, they're so cute together. So I'm not sitting here being like, I want to see you get back. With that.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Yeah, it almost feels like an ex from childhood. Exactly. So I kind of was like, I think that that's funny that they're divorced. Also statistically, like 53% of people get divorced. And we don't see. Stop bringing us down to her. I'm just saying. You're about to get married.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I know, but I'm going to be part of the 47. But I do think that... I'm going to be part of the one in four people who don't get married. Is it one and four? I don't see that for you. I don't see that for you. That's not going to happen. My buddy.
Starting point is 00:09:01 You're not married. It's happening. You're not in here. You're in the three out of four. You just open up your entire spectrum, 20% more people by acknowledging ones. Yeah, that's true. You just change. That's a whole new category.
Starting point is 00:09:13 So I'm just saying, things are changing. Instead of this being my personal therapy session, which we could do, how did you feel about that not getting together? I liked it because it allowed for a surprise that it didn't feel like a betrayal of character The whole movie's about how trauma ruins lives Right
Starting point is 00:09:29 It would have been very hypocritical If it ruined everyone's life Except the couple that's been dealing with it for 30 years Right So like it did It fit the tone of the film And it wasn't both them I think it would have been sucked
Starting point is 00:09:39 If they If Jennifer Love Hewitt had gotten with him To do the murders That would have been like Oh my God So everybody who had screwed turns bitter Yeah So it allowed us to have like
Starting point is 00:09:47 And that would split them up Like his bitterness she grew out of it, not grew out of it, but was able to grow from it. Yes. So that worked for me. What about the next part of... The Sarah Michelle Geller Dream Siemens. I loved it.
Starting point is 00:09:59 That was one of my favorite scenes. I thought the writing was fun. I thought Sarah Michelle Geller was enjoying the handiness that wasn't too out of the tone of the film. Like, she got to chew scenery, but it wasn't over the top. I feel like she's such a good actress. Like, I just love Sarah Michelle Geller. And it was probably very difficult for them to figure out how the effort we're going to put her in this movie. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:16 And you've got her husband in it, so it's like we should include her if she wants to play. She's on. set visiting it's like no you want to come be in this movie SMG I will also say that nothing for nothing I think that Jennifer love Hugh it looked amazing too and I think that nothing against that but Sarah Michelle Geller looks
Starting point is 00:10:32 hotter today than she's ever looked like yeah she's always I was like struck I was like god damn I know when she was on screen I was like people don't talk about your sexiness enough because like she was like glowing and a feeling yeah yeah she looked like a god is coming from about I was just happy for Freddie Bridger I'm like dude
Starting point is 00:10:48 comes back doesn't let a legacy sequel is married to this absolute goddess writes like cookbooks now and gets to be the killer yeah he wants to so checking all the boxes freddie prince so so so fun also a giant nerd and ex schmo yeah he's jean he's one of us hell yeah all right here we go reject nation at the start of this year i was sitting over 20% body fat 218 pounds of his end of January as of a couple weeks ago finally took the photos i've been talking about it all year i completed the mission six-pack abs came in 8% body fat, 170 pounds. You can check out all the transformations on Instagram, but that's not why I'm here today. I'm here today to tell you that a big part of how I accomplished that journey
Starting point is 00:11:29 was about staying consistent with my nutrition. And the best way to do this is by keeping things simple, like having a Hewell Black Edition ready to drink a complete meal in a bottle. Have these a couple times a week. That first crack. It's always amazing. It's a full meal in a bottle packed with 40 grams of protein, 27 vitamins and minerals, slow release carbs, low sugar, no prep, no cleanup. Just shake it and go. I've got a fridge full of these. We've got three fridges and they're all full of them. I'd like to grab them on shoot days, gym days, or I'm just too damn tired to cook, which is an often Greg thing. But more importantly, they taste good. Chocolate and vanilla. Classics are my go-toes. Smooth taste like actual
Starting point is 00:12:08 milkshake. But they got a whole bunch of other flavors you can catch on their website. Plus, it's under three bucks a meal, which has helped my gains and my budget. So, recheck nation, if you're ready to support your health and help support the challenge. away you can go to huel.com slash rejects new customers get 15% off plus a free gift with code rejects at huel.com slash rejects minimum $75 purchase applies skip the stress not the nutrition try heal today for complete nutrition well time Greg bottled Oscar Piaastri sorry to butcher uh if the I know what you did last summer note was a DM what emoji with the killer used to sign off is there a hook prayer hands
Starting point is 00:12:50 I know you did that summer. There's got to be a little hook or a fish. There's got to be a little hook or a fish. Or is there a bucket hat? Is there like a raincoat? Oh, yeah. There's a raincoat emoji. No, no, there's a trench coat.
Starting point is 00:13:02 There's a tan trench coat. That's got it. That works. Or boots. Yeah. There's a lot of iconography he could use. That's really. Yeah, that's really cute.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I would still like to imagine this. Or like I know what you did last summer. I'm picturing like a thought bubble. Yeah. Like I know. Sunshine thought bubble. Fourth of July Symbol
Starting point is 00:13:21 Fireworks Yes That would work We could tell the whole movie An emoji I love all the real questions That you guys have been asking But Oscar
Starting point is 00:13:29 Thank you for this Thank you for this moment That you gave us That's me clapping for you And also for the sing Gabriel I know what you did last summer Who do you think
Starting point is 00:13:38 Was the standout Amongst the new cast For me It's Madeline I'm already laughing Over the fact That I forget his name again Milo
Starting point is 00:13:47 God did Not made Redding's thing video. Milo. Arias Malin Kleiner, character turned out so far off the usual stereotype. I assumed at the beginning of the movie. Only thing I've seen her in was Glass Onion, Batiste's influenced her girlfriend in which she was good. But she really shined in this one, by far, best part of the movie. Do you have a number one favorite?
Starting point is 00:14:07 I think she was a highlight. She is. She's a great actress. She's so funny, and, like, she's able to do lines that are impossible. If you've ever acted, like, some of the dialogue these actors get out and manage to, like... ground it and make it real and lived in it's the living in a line thing that people don't get credit for in horror movies. You have
Starting point is 00:14:25 to also say these things in a way that feels like someone can emotionally connect to it and you live through something that would allow you to say like the hot is implied. The hot is implied. Ball in your eyes out. Such a good line. Not funny bawling. Really crying. Yeah. Like, so for me, she's a highlight. Yeah. I thought Teddy was great. I thought Milo was great. And once we learned his name, he was
Starting point is 00:14:41 great even before we knew his name, but we definitely didn't because we did have to believe like he could possibly be the killer. And I think he played that up really well. None of them were not good. Yeah. all great. Even Stevie, who I think that switch at the end was really great by her. I got to figure out the girl that's from what's it called
Starting point is 00:14:57 Finalist Nation. Yes. I just saw her in something that she was so good. I like that the girl that ended up being the killer was like jacked and they showed it throughout the movie. Like they dressed her in ways that you could see how like tone she was. She had like abs. The studio! She's one of the main girls! Oh, she's the girl in the studio!
Starting point is 00:15:13 I'm going to kill. I'm going to jump. Clay, I'm going to throw myself. She's the main, she's the assistant. She's Yeah, Coy. She's so good. Yeah, Coy. You want to know what I just saw her in? Standing next to her at the studio,
Starting point is 00:15:26 doing all the press, went for the studio. I've got way worse. That's what I just saw. I was hanging out with my friend who's in Final Last Nation and was hanging out with that girl. And the studio is my favorite show of the year.
Starting point is 00:15:37 And I didn't know that was a girl in the studio. So I had no point did I thank her for incredible work because I was like, you're great in Final Last Nation. Little I know she's my show of the year. I'm so sad with us. I saw her socially and didn't just say, like what a year you've had I'm so upset with us she's in the two big 90s throwback in the best show of 2025 you kept saying that I was like no that's not it it's not what I'm thinking of
Starting point is 00:15:57 how is she in the three like giant oh my god wait what's wrong with us we just didn't see it this is why we didn't play the smote and then when we saw her name at the end I was like no I just talk to her I know it that's mortified I'm so sorry girl from all this great work if you're watching this you're amazing she is she's excellent she's so good chase sue wonders she's so funny in the studio that I didn't know she was infeld this nation. What we just did was disgusting. Yep. That
Starting point is 00:16:24 was disgusting. I'm sorry. She's also in Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. She's so good in Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. I think that we should have our movie cards taken. I think we should have her on a show and apologize. Chase? Chase. On behalf of Koi, myself. All of
Starting point is 00:16:42 Reject Nation. The devastation we have caused. The sorrow we feel. It is indescribable. and we might not get over it. Please come on the show. Come see us. We'll talk about all your work, which is ample and bountiful.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Good God. She was in Bupkus, which I loved, too. Listen, that was disgusting. What a career. On the Rocks. Wow. The studio. I kept saying it to you.
Starting point is 00:17:06 I was like, no, no. That's not it. No, no. I feel like I saw this person in life and didn't know she was in the show. I love so. The, it. And she's the only one in the studio that I was like,
Starting point is 00:17:18 oh, this is a new face to me that's killing it amongst these legends. And I remember consciously thinking like you're keeping up with legends. I genuinely want Prepper to take this and put it at the beginning so people know eventually that we come around
Starting point is 00:17:34 to the fact that one of, like, it's my favorite show of the year. I know it's one of yours and finalistination. Which I covered here. Recently. And covered bodies, bodies, bodies here. And we both were in the room with this person, in the last
Starting point is 00:17:51 two months. In the last, I'm going to say in the last two weeks. For me, it was like, but I was while I was watching the studio, it was while the studio was airing. A moment of silence. We're sorry. Kreper help us. Kreper help. Let them know that we
Starting point is 00:18:09 finally found out. I love that Gabriel's question was like, who's your highlight? And our answer was, oh my God, she's in everything we love. was devastating. My highlight is beta, so just if I've already jumped off the cliff, let me call it it. Yep, there it is. I liked
Starting point is 00:18:25 everybody, but I thought that Milo did such a great job, especially because we thought it was him. Yeah. So that's got to be subtle things that he choices he was making as an actor, too. I think that those are the questions. I think that's everything. I think before we get ourselves on worst trouble, we should get out of here. Let's get out of
Starting point is 00:18:41 here. Any final thoughts on this, other than oops? Other than oops. I thought it was a worthy legacy sequel. I thought it was a really fun time. You know, if you made it to the end of this video, you guys get to be behind the curtain. It's fucking Saturday, and I did not want to work today. And this is my third work thing on a Saturday. So I was, like, excited because of the movie it was, but I was not excited to come into work.
Starting point is 00:19:03 And within 20 minutes, I was like, it's great. And that's a testament. Like, if we were going to do a work on a Saturday, I'm glad it was something fun. And this was a blast. Yeah, I'm super with you. We got that yesterday text of, you guys feel like working on the weekend. I was like, I'll be a day. be there. I'm going to say nice things. I'm going to say exclamation points, but I'm going to
Starting point is 00:19:22 feel sad face. So here we are. Yeah, for sure. So I'm glad the movie was at least fun on a Saturday afternoon. No, stoked to be here. Honestly, good usage of our time. And I'm glad to finally have all the pieces put together. Great job with this cast. Worthy Legacy. Would be interested in another one. I would watch. I'll always know what you did last summer. I stay knowing. And I'd also watch. I stay knowing what you did last summer. me you would watch that the fastest i can i say it was really called can i say a thing but i think that title could have worked up until brandy came back at the end now it would be so implied racist like up until like brandy shows up and they change the title to that and it's suddenly
Starting point is 00:20:04 that's so bad i'm just acknowledging it's so bad let's acknowledge that brandy on the cover i didn't know i didn't know but branding on the cover and then it says i stay no one i'll always know Oh, always know what you did last? Let us know what Boston movies you want us to watch. All right, let's get out of here. Later, Rejects.
