Starting point is 00:01:12 The Walmart you thought you knew is now new. This week's videos are sponsored by an app that I've been using since before. We've even partnered with them, and that app is Rocket Money. More on them after the reaction, people. I don't know why I've just convinced myself this one's not good. I think it's going to be great. I don't know anything about it. They progressively got better.
Starting point is 00:01:29 I haven't known anything about any of them. People have really raped about Donna of the dinosaurs, but I haven't heard anyone rave about this. Even they give up. So I'm like, is this one good? Because we've, no one's talked about it. So I'm a little nervous. I'd rather enjoy a movie than not.
Starting point is 00:01:45 So let's find out. Oh, man. I was trying to find out what Ray Romano was paid for Ice Age. He gets like 10. million dollars in a movie reportedly. Seriously? For this. No way. God, you imagine.
Starting point is 00:02:00 I'm surprised the franchise is still this popular and successful. It's a huge franchise. We're five deep. Well, there's like a bunch of shows and stuff. It's a massive property. Oh, yeah, I guess so. What did you think of the movie?
Starting point is 00:02:14 It was okay. I would say it's definitely the most scattered. Scraddered, you mean? Scraddered. Happy Scrattered. Saturday. It's come on Monday. It doesn't work. The pun doesn't work. This movie was, you know, I will say I'll start off with the positives. I think this movie had a lot of ambitious ideas with how it wanted to address its antagonist. You know, I thought it had a really good sense of perspective when it comes to its visual language. The 3D, I'm sure this would have looked amazing in 3D had we had a chance to see it in theaters. I think.
Starting point is 00:02:54 thought some of the jokes were funny, some of the new additions were cool, like Wanda Sykes. She had some funny stuff. I think all the stuff with Scrat, they really keep upping the ante and finding new ways to make that fun and interesting. And yeah, that's the good. I felt like it was a little scatterbrained, you know? I'm not going to talk to you. I'm not going to talk to them.
Starting point is 00:03:21 I'm just going to talk to you, Greg. I'm going to talk to my friend. I thought the movie was Unquote those This was good I mean it was okay It was I thought the fact that this movie
Starting point is 00:03:37 I'm not even going to talk to you guys I'm just going to go right here I'm going to talk to you Why? Why are you doing this? I don't know, I've ever been a good time This movie I thought this stuff was fun
Starting point is 00:03:55 I don't know that's that's my my base level of thoughts I don't want to take all the thoughts Greg would you think man you haven't really you kind of just repeated the same words over and over again it's just as fun it's kind of like I think this one's the most hollow out of the mall is the one I would say the most shallow out of them all I agree didn't have heart like the other ones did I mean it was it was kind of there in certain in certain parts it was It was shallow.
Starting point is 00:04:21 I think that this really felt like a fourth movie. Like they did, they went bigger. Like it's huge. I mean, it's not really much bigger than like a dinosaur world. But they went pretty big. Like with the adventure and the ocean and like the action. And it was just like a crazy snowball effect of like Scrat does this. And then everything breaks apart.
Starting point is 00:04:48 And then Sidd's family shows up. they drop off granny and then once everything breaks they split apart then they're stranded in the ocean then they encounter pirates it's just like a little kid wrote it nonstop it's not bad but it is just nonstop of that and it was like a loud one and what I think what grounds the movies the most is that balance of comedy and heart and then this was like kind of just a lot of visual stimuli and noise from the cast that it like you know it was it was the least it also felt like the most predictable is the least creative in a lot of ways yeah some stuff just felt a predictable and obligatory like the fact that the villain found his
Starting point is 00:05:42 family like how out of how big the world is I thought that this movie keeps adding characters but knows less to do with the characters each time. Yeah. Because we have Ellie and now they've jumped a number of years. Now they have a daughter and they have a very shallow plot with her daughter about like knowing who her real friends are
Starting point is 00:06:03 and like no and you know accepting herself or whatever but then they had this whole thing with like Mani being overprotective but they didn't really even touch on the fact that that stems from the fact that he lost his family and I'm sure he's scared losing another kid. And and they're just cool by the end of it without really having any sort of reconciliation.
Starting point is 00:06:24 And Grant, maybe this is something that is too deep for a kid's movie here. I don't know. It feels like it's weird because it wants to advance the characters, like within where they started from being like just a lonely mammoth to finding a tribe to end love to figuring out how to be a family to then now being a full-blown parent of a teenager, at least with Manning's progression.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And I felt like Sid is a pretty static character who kind of stays the same over the course of the franchise. And then Diego has varying problems that are solved by the end of them that are really relevant anymore going forward. Now he's a love interest, you know, and then we kind of obligatoryly dropped off Granny, acknowledging that he has a family out of nowhere
Starting point is 00:07:09 and then just like, here's this new character of the franchise. Bye, guys. And yeah, it felt like with the first three, they were inspired to kind of up the ante or like find new ways to make this premise interesting. And this one was like, we got to make another one. We need some money. We need to get those kids in yet, get that 3D and oh, who's popular?
Starting point is 00:07:33 Let's get Drake. Yeah. Let's get Nicky Minaj. Yeah, yeah. Kids love those guys. And it just didn't have that same level of heart. I think what really makes these Ice Age movies pop is the heart mixed with the physical comedy. the antics. And was it cool in concept to have pirates there and have another villain or
Starting point is 00:07:54 have a villain that is the primary antagonist of Manny or our trio? Sure. Is it cool to have our protagonists, our primary three back together in concept? Sure. But in execution, it just didn't work. I feel like when we have those characters together, they're typically for the purpose of exploring each other's interpersonal relationship. And I felt like it was just these three going on an adventure and carrying through the events because this one monkey decided I wanted to mess with them. And then they were just reacting to what was happening the entire time. And most of what they were doing except for Diego didn't really have anything to do with what was set up for them in the beginning. Because it wasn't really established that Diego needed love because we were established in the last movie that, you know, he felt like he didn't really have a place or belonging and like, oh, no, I have a family now.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I really accept this are my people. And granted, that's maybe his arc that's carried over from the last one. But other than that, yeah, it just didn't really have a whole lot of a substance to it. And it's weird because I know this is a popular franchise. And you would think that with the franchise, it would kind of grow up a little bit. Like, still keep its essence, still keep it silliness. But with the fourth one, I would imagine that the audience that started off with it would still have some semblance of interest. And I can't imagine that a lot of people, at least that I know, I personally don't know anyone that's the United States H4.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I vaguely know people talking about Buck, but I don't, I didn't even know that he had a daughter or that said that a grandma or any of that. So, well, I think I had more, uh, basic fun with this than you did based off of what you're saying because I did. I just thought I was like, this is so weird. This is so strange. And while I do, I see why it's so flawed, uh, I still manage to like, you still got some laughs out of me. It's still got some, uh, chuckles out of me. It seemed like it was more focused on adventure than anything else. It's like the first three kind of have this reoccurring theme of acceptance. self-acceptance and and like existentialism too and and this one I think with like constant drift like in the world I thought that this would lend itself to to being that but it didn't do any of those
Starting point is 00:10:23 things it still had fun I still laughed at it I was visually you seem like you are pissed off at the world right now you really seem like you're like mad about this movie I'm just comparing it to the other ones I I was prepared because no one talking about it and I was like I don't expect this one to be as good I don't know anything about I say because no one in the comments was taught every when we started the first one people were like just wait till you get to three
Starting point is 00:10:49 three is a good one and then that delivered and but no one mentioned this one so you think people would at least like crap on it but it's kind of like neutral it's kind of like middle ground well no yeah the movie's not like egregiously bad or something bad it's just it's kind of mid no yeah
Starting point is 00:11:05 it's definitely lost a it definitely lost sight of what made those first three work, which is grounding in some type of emotionality that feels like genuine as opposed to like, we got to throw a beat in here or something like that. And like even with the main villain, I think the concept of it is cool. He wasn't scary though. He wasn't threatening and he wasn't funny. Like he was just kind of like, he was a personality. Like there was personality to him for sure. But it didn't really have an effect that it maybe should have had. You want to think it is. like the first movie movies feel like family movies and this one feels like a kids movie with
Starting point is 00:11:43 things that adults can be entertained by visually that's that's oh my god i like granny i thought she was funny i'd like scrap scrap was amazing as always he's still so damn funny to me he's great oh scrap and i guess i like peaches she's kind of like whatever she's kind of just a generic teenage girl all right reject nation let's get real for our moments running this channel is incredible But managing finances, especially taxes and budgeting, both for the channel and my personal life, can be overwhelming. That's where Rocket Money has been a financial lifestyle before me, even before I ever partnered up with them. Like I said, I've been very fortunate to be working with brands whose products I already use, so it's a win-win for them. But it can be a win-win for you too because there's a reason I use them.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Rocket Money is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money by canceling unnecessary subscriptions, lowering bills, and crafting a budget that fits your specific lifestyle. For someone like me who can easily lose track of expenses throughout every single day of the month, it's been eye-opening to see where I was overspending, stuff I don't use that I kept paying for, especially apps. Man, I have way too many apps. Rocket Money does the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending, then customizes notifications to help you stay within your budget goals.
Starting point is 00:12:52 It's not just about saving money. It's about actively seeing and feeling your financial progress. It's a great feeling. They track your monthly subscriptions to, so many free trials I signed up for that I forgot to, you know, get rid of before the free trial was done. Making it super easy to cancel the ones you don't use. A couple of clicks and you're putting money back in your pocket. I'm telling you, have you ever found 100 subscriptions or pay for services you forgot about?
Starting point is 00:13:13 Because Rocket Money is a huge asset in helping to uncover those. And even negotiate some of my bills down to it like 20%. So if you're ready to take control of your finances and there's no better time than now because it is the beginning of the year, check out Rocket Money and see how much you could be saving. Stop wasting money on things you do not use. So to help support the channel and help support your wallet, visit rockermoney.com slash rejects. Rocket Money currently has over 5 million users and has helped save its members an average of $720 a year with over $500 million in canceled subscriptions. They've helped me and I'm confident they'll do the same for you.
Starting point is 00:13:43 That's rocketmoney.com slash rejects. Your bank account, well, thank you. I thought that the end scene with Scrat was probably my favorite part of the movie because it was like, well, the idea that other squirrels can talk, but he just can't. He's just so feral that he's just not developed enough. It was funny. Well, I love what they're doing with Scratch. because he just seems like this myth that has just developed over time in this ice age world as just a simple little squirrel looking for it's not or wanting to plant it's not somewhere
Starting point is 00:14:13 and then as it's grown on now he's like he's responsible for these for the continents and like so much of the plot stuff that happens and this is due to him and then he finds us a society of his people who can like literally speak and have disciplined themselves to have self-control and then he demolishes it within seconds of being there like i i love i love the i love the fact that there's like world is built around him now and it's so it's it really cracks me because i sort of this small thing but it has now become so his his the consequences of his actions have such grave ripple effects but it's always him on the same mission and i think that's so funny I think it's really funny that they've done with it.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Because in the first movie, it's just like some side thing that's happening. Like, it's just something off to the side. Does that connect at all? But they've, like, connected it more or more. Is that, I don't know if it's going on. Yeah. You know if this movie would have been fun. This movie would have been fun to see it in 40X.
Starting point is 00:15:15 God, you're always bitching. 40X is a ride. It was a ride. Just mad about everything. That was a negative one. I was commenting the 3D the whole time. You're the most negative one. You think it makes you stand out.
Starting point is 00:15:28 That's your strength there. And you're negative. I'm black and negative. that's my claim to fame negative i have locks black and i'm negative you're so negative i'm very critical i i am a i should wear like an ascot and like a robe yeah to a divorce people love this movie this has a 61% audience score that's pretty hot it's 2% hot if 2% less and it'd be rotting wow so yeah people love this one people are gonna hate me i know i never do this i want to see what a collision course rating it oh jesus what let me guess let me guess let me guess it's not it's not let me guess let me guess
Starting point is 00:16:05 35 do i get it is it right now i'll tell you later oh no no no okay very wrong higher or lower you're you're you're just wrong 47 you know you're just wrong you got to face facts um but overall you know it's nice to be back with them and I like to see Ray Romano make $10 million so it makes me happy Dennis Leary Dennis Leary deserves money too he's Captain Stacy
Starting point is 00:16:36 he deserves everything dude he makes probably great money off of this yeah like even the thing with like Sid's family showing up and abandon like how that's when I felt like something's wrong with this movie why he makes some negative Greg because I have a actual point to make
Starting point is 00:16:53 unlike you who's just bitches about stuff Mr. Negative Gosh. Do I look like Martin Leady? Martin Lee? The Spider-Man villain? Yeah. Because black?
Starting point is 00:17:06 Is that what you're saying? What a geek. Nerd. It took you a second, though. I'm clever, baby. Ooh. Ooh. Sure.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Ooh. So, dance off. It was when Sid taking it back. Goes to the family. His family shows up. they abandoned him and they just make a joke out of it yeah and i was like you know what i kind of feel like the other movies they would take the time to see how messed up this actually is
Starting point is 00:17:39 instead of just making some joke out of it you know like he sees his family for the first they just abandon them they're like terrible they're terrible they're awful people they're awful people and they just abandoned him and then the fact that it was just like a dismissed joke was uh-huh something's not right about this one that was the first warning sign to me that they normally they would deal with with that in some way he's the comic relief he's the he's the glue that doesn't matter they would still they would still do something like he had more emotion with the dinosaur baby stuff he did then there's no emotional grounding in this movie i just realized he's normally like that you were granny yeah it was just like it was just surface everything was kind of an ad on
Starting point is 00:18:22 Yeah. Dang. What happened, Ice Age? I know. Where we go? I mean, I have hope. I know, I'm sure I came off negative in this movie, but I have hope for five. You were so negative.
Starting point is 00:18:33 I have hope for five. I said the 3D was good and I would watch it again. How can you know the 3D was good? Because it popped out. You're not watching it in 3D. It's not a 3D glass. There's no way you can tell 3D is good. You're just looking at things close to the screen.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Does that look 3D? That's not 3D because you're not some screen. Is that 3D, guys? Is that 3D? You see? You see what I'm talking about? I'm going to fillet your flesh. You don't even eat meat.
Starting point is 00:19:06 What's that even mean? I'm not going to eat it. You're just going to cook me? I'm just going to cook you. I mean, I understand. I mean, I'd be pretty good. I got seasoning in me in my bones. So you don't have to eat me.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Someone will. Just something for a high price, will you? Yeah, for sure, brother. Okay. Anyway, man, listen, guys, what do you think about ISH? Constantantile Drift? Is the next one worth watching, or should we end it here? We gotta finish it off.
Starting point is 00:19:34 No, no, no, no. Let's get back to Buck. Let's get to the sixth Buck movie. Do people like the Buck one? I don't know. We're going to find out. What's the... This movie was missing Buck.
Starting point is 00:19:45 He was the best character. I love that guy. Ice Age, the Adventures of Buck is what it's called? Buck Wild. Yeah, something like that. Wild. I mean, I think it's just some like straight to Disney Plus thing, right? I believe so.
Starting point is 00:19:59 Yeah, it's a Disney Plus original. We got a little cameo from him. Oh, yeah, yeah, he was there for like a split second. Oh, that's pretty hot. Yeah. That's not good. I think the franchise just stops being good at this point. I'm pretty confident about that.
Starting point is 00:20:22 What other good movies should we watch, guys? No, you're done with this channel. See you guys.
