Starting point is 00:01:42 that's not like angstrom levy that's not like sterling k brown didn't say his name in the credits like they would say sterling k brown it sounded like him i don't know we'll find out just chill out just don't get your panties in a bunch man it's gonna be all right you're gonna be okay i'm invested all right ladies and gentlemen well we just watched invincible season three episode three Aaron how you feeling feeling good I'm feeling hyped the show continues to be amazing I will say I don't I really enjoyed it I don't like it as much as episode two of season three but you know we need these episodes to slow down for character development and you know we we have these
Starting point is 00:02:23 moments so we can go bigger and badder and crazier in the next episode but it's not always about the action and the craziness it's about you know the plot in tandem with the character development and this latest development with oliver was crazy because i felt it i felt it from its inception from the season beginning that something bad is going to happen with oliver either he's going to turn evil or he's going to die and we're not we're like at the like crossroads in between those potential realities right now with him finally or crossing that line for the first time which I'm presumably will not be the last time.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Again, I have read the comic so we don't know where the story is going to go. But I am intrigued. I am sad. I am nervous and excited. Why are you sad? I'm sad because he crossed the line because he didn't want him to be like his dad.
Starting point is 00:03:17 And now he has to be the one responsible. Mark has to be the one responsible for raising his little brother that he is more like his dad than he was. And then in his little brother, he has to come to terms with the thing that he detest about himself is the fact that he also murdered and has to justify why murdering isn't wrong in the face of his brother doing it for the first time. Because brother calling him to a hypocrite to his face and he has to stand on the moral high ground of murdering is wrong. But then you see, it was a very well-crafted episode.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Like the whole thing in the beginning with them going and taking out the villains and again that whole little short story about. about like the villain couple and then yeah yeah it was beautiful and that that right there is an example of why life is precious because you know you see the the complexity of complexities of what these villains or criminals go through and brings them to the point in which they have to do the things that make them deemed as villains so yeah overall I really enjoyed it like this the show continues to be strong what did you feel how was your takeaways uh I think this was a
Starting point is 00:04:30 worrisome episode in all the right ways I think it's a lot to worry about I think it's good I don't need to compare it to episode two like you jeez what the whole show was going to be like with you yeah oh episode six is good but I don't rank as much as episode two
Starting point is 00:04:49 yeah this is compared to episode three of season two I don't know I don't know where it stands yeah i'm just kidding i don't even remember what happened in episode three season too wow fake fan over here truly take my take my badge away yeah i think the i think this it's carrying on the themes you know some stuff we were talking about last time especially with the concept of like when is it okay to kill when is it a good when is it a time to kill and a time not to kill and where does that line when it comes to someone with power and superpowers and whether it's good or bad and
Starting point is 00:05:22 And, like, even that opening scene, that little, like, short tale they tell of that couple who went to rob a bank, then tried reforming and going out a different path, finding other ways to make ends meet than failing, ultimately coming back, it's like we don't really know. A lot of times you pop into villains, and especially in an invincible world, the villains often, with the quantity, if you look at the quantity of the villains, usually they just seem like one-note, born evil type of villains, right? who you're like, now, we should just get rid of these guys. But I like when they decide to introduce the complexities of them, because even with the villains that they introduced at the beginning, or not villains, but the tale of that couple, initially, if you see them robbing a bank, you might just assume they're just typical and invincible villains, right?
Starting point is 00:06:06 But then you see that there's more of a nuance to them as well, and that's, like, even rooted in love. So with that idea of, like, struggle of trying to go there with changing, and, like, that's why you probably shouldn't get. like you like in that in a situation like that i think when you're like an audience member uh watching that couple you're you're seeing this this this this couple make the criminal choice so should they go to prison yes they should they die no should they be killed no as like my audience member perspective no in terms of this fantastic debate that we are having of
Starting point is 00:06:48 when is it okay and when is it not okay and so much of it is about the themes of control and power and just it's all tying into that like last season had a very specific themes they kept following through and i like the way the themes are following through here and even what it's it's even more difficult when you're dealing with a child right because a child is is developing and you add into the salad bowl here that it's a child who's an alien who grows at a rapid pace you know and you're trying to raise them with humanity values when they're not human, physiologically wise or emotionally wise, right? And what is, is there a way to tame the beast or really instill life perspectives into them? It's a really complicated issue when love is involved in the mix
Starting point is 00:07:37 as well. At the same time, with love, I like the whole thing with how they are developing the relationship with Amber and Mark because, not Amber and Mark. What's her name? Amber and Eve. Rose Tico from the last. John. Amber and Eve. No, Eve, even, even Mark and Eve, freaking A, Mark and Eve with Mark and Eve. All relationships. Because of Mark and Eve, with Mark and Amber, it was a lot of like, you know, an understandable dynamic of, hey, you can't really open up too much because you get to a point where you're like, you won't understand that your problems feel so much more grand than the other
Starting point is 00:08:10 person's problems, too. I like all the conversation that did last season. We don't need to rehash all of it. However, emotional connection comes to. the form of identity emotional connection comes in the form of when your emotions identify with another person right totally and that is what can make the relationship so strong because they understand each other's struggles they understand what it's like to be out in the field they they can grasp the nuances of the consequences of everything that's at stake beyond just save a life don't save a life and i like how they're proceeding with the relationship there me would say Reject Nation, I'm going to tell you guys about one of the most stressful times in our YouTube journey.
Starting point is 00:08:52 So a couple of years ago, our channel got hacked. And it wasn't just the channel, it was our AdSense account, too, where a YouTuber gets paid. And in summary, it really sucked. They were in a completely different country. They were siphoning off little bits at a time, just enough for you to not notice. But one day I did, and it resulted in thousands of dollars being taken. And we're doing better on the channel now more than ever, but it was during a period where we were not doing so well. certainly living paycheck to paycheck.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Thankfully, YouTube helped us out, and we were able to recoup that money. But it was one of those moments where you felt like you hear about this kind of thing happening all the time, but until it happens to you, you don't quite grasp how exposed you really are online. And yes, that is why I wish we had something like today's sponsor, Aura. All the way back then, would have saved us. Starting point is 00:10:28 Thank you again for sponsoring this video. Yeah, I can agree with that. And that was the crux of this episode, exploring those relationship dynamics, you know, seeing the beginnings of what seems to be shrinking Ray and Rex's relationship, potentially, exploring the, the now new normal of Mark and E's relationship, the mom and her new guy's relationship. All of it was great. I think that was being the... And then even starting the episode off
Starting point is 00:10:57 with these two villains relationship, you know, that was generally the larger theme of this episode. And watching it, it's kind of like scale back a bit. It feels emotionally consequential, but plot-wise, like a stepping stool. because we have so many things happening and so many things in play. Like we have a villain we set up in season one
Starting point is 00:11:21 that we're bringing back for like a scene in season three and we have the scene at the end of both the finale of season two with Omni Man and with Alan and then we bring it back at the end of the first episode of season three. And then we haven't touched on it again since. Granted we're only three episodes in. I know we get eight episodes a season. But sometimes it feels like the structure of the show
Starting point is 00:11:44 is at this point more confined than the grand scale of what the story is or what it can be because I know you know we have
Starting point is 00:11:56 Engstrom-lovy it seems like again it's going to be a multiversal thing we haven't even touched the Vilchamite war yet but granted those things are to come
Starting point is 00:12:05 and they'll come in their time but that the grand nature of what the show can evolve into doesn't isn't under cut by the emotional stakes of what we're dealing with in our present because i think all of
Starting point is 00:12:19 these things are going to be um vital going forward it's just um it's structured interestingly because it's it's structured like it has um like it's not not like it's not like it's not building towards something but it's it's moving at a a pace that doesn't feel like it's leading towards something grand granted we're only three episodes in but it seems like they're alluding to like potentially multiverse stuff and I'm like okay we've had this changing title sequence and we haven't even begin to touch on that stuff yet so I'm curious as to you know how much time we get to dedicate to that going forward and it is that is the nature of the stuff that they want to accomplish stuff that they can
Starting point is 00:13:05 fulfill within season television season arcs or does that kind of lean itself more towards being in a comic book and I think that's the trouble with adaptation that being said I'm really really enjoying how it's being adapted but yeah that's something I couldn't help but think about as we're watching it leave a like and subscribe bye long way no I get what you're saying because I'm not really concerned about it though because like when you leave off of what happened with Omneman and Mark, you'd think that Mark would be kind of like really concerned and that would be a frequent topic of conversation, you know, with Wiltermites and
Starting point is 00:13:54 invading what he was, what he was told to do by General Creek, Craig, I want to say. That's the Clancy Brown one. Like that doesn't really seem to be getting brought up when I'm like, this is kind of seems like an pending threat. You got to do it. It feels like we've set up a lot of plot and we're focused in on character. and not that plot but continue but my point is is that whenever he is dealing with a problem in this show it is very like it's a very big important problem he has to tend to right in this
Starting point is 00:14:27 moment like this is the immediate the immediate problem is so important he must tend to it so it does make sense to me that he wouldn't be talking about these other things that being said i do wish it was kind of brought up at least once or twice yeah man we have because i haven't even thought about until right now then when you brought up like well that's true like he there is this like massive viltramite threat he did talk to allan at the end of last season he hasn't really been like where's that one you know and like he knows the viltramites are coming they know well he still knows everyone knows so this whole like disbanding and shit like that it's like they they have to kind of bring the conversation back up like
Starting point is 00:15:09 is there some version where we can band together other in spite of our emotional strifes we are having with one another. I think it's worth at least addressing the question. Maybe not even have a whole scene dedicated to it or a giant dialogue, but I'm literally like just bring it up, you know, and that's about it. But yeah, man, we got to get going. Thank you guys so much for being here. What do you think about invincible season three, episode three?
Starting point is 00:15:39 Another positive installment, if you ask, and moi not this guy he hates everything leave a like subscribe we'll talk with you all soon peace
