Starting point is 00:01:24 All right, guys, that was it. Welcome to Derry, Season 1, Episode 4. we have reached the halfway mark there we go i think if you're listening on youtube please make sure you do all the youtube stuff share the video if you don't mind make sure you hit the like button most importantly don't forget to ring the bell ring the bell and well you're notified whenever we drop videos such as these we still have four more episodes to go also special thanks to find folks over at prepper they do an excellent job editing down these highlights because you are watching them on youtube they have a quick turnaround
Starting point is 00:02:00 time so we appreciate all their hard work and dedication if you're also listening to us on apple or spotify if you don't mind please give us a five star rating we would really appreciate it wow oh my goodness gracious so much to say so little time who wants to go first terra how about it um i really like how this episode ended um you guys know how much i hate it when they don't write characters who are like common sense smart and the fact that they were like we need to go get part of this star surround it build a cage for it is great um and uh i just i really really love that um i currently hate marge she um has she hasn't made it up to me yet i loved her i like spoke
Starting point is 00:02:55 so highly of her i was like i'm obsessed with her and now i freaking i I just, God, that really, really got to me, like seeing Lily so excited about this guy and their whole plan to just, like, embarrass her. I just don't understand that. I hate it. It's funny how we're building it up to where Pennywise does some effed up shite and then look at these popular girls doing shite that, to me, is on the same freaking almost level as. Pennywise. Cuckoo fricking bananas, dude. I can't, I can't even stand it. We're like just everyday horror, also Pennywise horror. Yeah, no, it's a good infusion. Agreed of real world horror with fictional horror and psychological horror all mixed together. Roxy, what do you think
Starting point is 00:03:45 of the episode and how do you feel about the show so far? I'm really enjoying that we took a, we deviated a little bit to get to some lore. And I'm glad that we had a glimpse of Pennywise in this episode. I am glad that we went more into how he got here and the bigger question of like, why was he remaining in the woods this whole time? You know, why wasn't he able to branch out? And us, like, seeing them actually dig the star into the ground.
Starting point is 00:04:15 I thought that was all really well executed in a way that could have felt like too much exposition, but the visuals were so cool and how we got there was so smart. That I really enjoyed that. I had forgotten about episode one opening scene of the disgusting, like, baby birth. Yes. And so I forgot that this show goes there. And then when we got those eyeballs, I was like, those look gross.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And then when she started stabbing her on eyeball, I was like, this is horrific. And then when she went to the saw, I was like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. And so I feel like this show has done a good job of making. us like it goes it's truly a drama at a lot of times and then it's like actually babes we's a horror show don't forget it and so that was really great we didn't get as much of um the stuff that i was hoping to follow up on but it's okay because we'll get next episode but with our losers gang like i you know of course i i i miss them a little bit but in place of that we got more of taylor page's character
Starting point is 00:05:21 who is my favorite character in the show so agreed oh i was like what's the Because I agree with you. I love her so much. I love her and I just think that she has her head on and this town isn't affecting her the way that it affects other people. She's still able to break through the noise. So this was another win for me. Yeah, fantastic show. I'm really digging it so far. As you all know, I adored the movies and I think Roxy, another excellent point was made about deviating a little bit and getting to the lore because we've really established just the world itself and the timeline we are in right now currently. and these characters, but now we're getting back to some familiar stuff, and we got a little bit of that when, or a good amount of it, rather,
Starting point is 00:06:04 but we didn't explore it too deeply in It Volume, or Hit Volume, it Chapter 2, rather, when Mike was explaining all this stuff about Penny Wise's origin story and all that, and I like that they really went a lot deeper into that, even if we only got about five, six,
Starting point is 00:06:20 seven minutes, whatever it was, and I agree the exposition could have been a little bit tedious, but I think because they added the visual aid with it and I like the way he was explaining everything. I was literally locked in the whole time. I wasn't being lost or I wasn't being bored as the exposition was going on. I was so fascinated by the origin story and how he's locked up in certain places of where he's with the 13 pillars.
Starting point is 00:06:43 So such a fascinating story. Now when I go back to it with the first film and the second film, now you have this actual backstory to go behind on where he's allowed to be and just how he got there and all that. So it really, it adds a level of depth to those two films. And I really appreciate that and getting back to what you were saying with Hanlon's, what's her first, her character. Taylor Page is the actress. I don't know what was the character. Mrs. Hanlon, let's call her that. I love how she's not a, she's not a pushover. She's very direct. And in a time where it's understandable to be like that, given the color of her skin, and it's in the 60s. And I so appreciate her character. And she's willing
Starting point is 00:07:24 to stand up for what she believes in and do the right thing. Women couldn't even have their own credit card at this time. I mean, yeah, but I love her character. She's one of my favorite characters in this show, and she hasn't been given a ton of screen time, like some of
Starting point is 00:07:38 the other characters, but when she has, she's been so effective, and I really resonated with her character, and that's like something that I, one of the things that I resonate with in her character is just not being a pusher, being very direct, and that doesn't mean being arrogant or anything, but also
Starting point is 00:07:54 standing up for what you believe in and I just I appreciate it so much and I found it really fascinating to how we're slowly finding out who this the the the dad the guy who's being accused the innocent man I want to know who he slept with so do you guys think that he who he slept with actually is somebody we know because or is it enough that it's just a white married woman at this time if it ends up just being a married white woman fine it's not a big deal but I feel like it's someone even so okay let's break that down down for a second then which white married women do we know have we met we haven't maybe we haven't met her but i wouldn't be surprised if it is the the cop or it's the city member the one who's
Starting point is 00:08:36 in charge of the at the police station okay or if i wouldn't even be surprised remember the the guy who is in charge of him and telling him you need to arrest this guy the one at the bar that he met imagine if it's that guy's wife i'm just saying i wouldn't be surprised so we know all the military people we know the cops so the only people we could think of who could be their their wives i guess yeah and i thought it was so fascinating the the whole thing with i do agree with you the whole thing with we still got to get back to remembering this is a horror show too as well as a it's a psychological horror it is a drama just given the actual things that we're dealing with with an innocent man being prosecuted the time the time that we're in as well i really appreciated like the
Starting point is 00:09:22 subtlety or if you will of what they did with marge like she's a character who feels pure pressure to being friends with a really shitty group of people who is going to make her feel popular and feel seen and what does she do she cuts out her eyes that she's not going to be able to see at least in one eye so it was like i see what you did there that i appreciate that that was that's ingenious creative horror right there and disgusting as well that's the the kind of horror i appreciate when you're going to do wild gnarly shit like that so that was but you know you were talking about how you didn't like margin i'm not disagreeing with that i like though before all the the shit happened she was about to redeem herself and say to and she couldn't go through it and i think that
Starting point is 00:10:06 you think that would have redeemed her well it would redeem herself i think that would have at least given me a little moment to pause from my hatred in the moment of how i felt about her because i was really upset with her she was about to and she was i think that she was i think that humanizes her character and makes her not a complete piece of shit. Yeah, she was doing awful thing. I've done, look, I'm not going to lie. I've done shitty things in my life, things I'm not proud of, but I like to make, I like to imagine that, you know, I've been given second chances to show that I am a good person and to make up for that. And I appreciate that she was at least trying to be honest with her and say, hey, no, do not go, do not ask this guy out. He really
Starting point is 00:10:43 doesn't like you. Don't embarrass yourself. I appreciated that she was about to do that. For sure. I think, I think Tara and I'm guessing you appreciated that too, Tara. Oh, yeah. But it's too bad. We didn't get there. So my hatred's still a little bit there. But you also did bring up another point because she was so in a daze from all the shit that was happening. I got to imagine she knows the truth that Lily was not doing that,
Starting point is 00:11:07 but Lily was in a precarious position visually from where everyone came at that time and saw that. Is she going to, because Marge is not dead. We just know she's missing an eye. Is she going to tell everyone Lily had. nothing to do with it. I'm curious where we go from here with this because now everyone already thinks Lily is the town Wackadoo wild or
Starting point is 00:11:25 crazy person. Where do we go from here with Lily? The messaging continues to be tell the truth even if you get screwed and what we've seen from Lily is when she didn't tell the truth and then this man got in trouble for something he didn't do
Starting point is 00:11:41 and then she got sent away to this asylum anyway. We might see that with Marge now because Marge is going to be afraid to get sent to that asylum. If she says, I stab my own eye out, guess where she's going? Yeah, that's a great point. I'm worried about that now. And if she doesn't tell the truth,
Starting point is 00:11:57 can Lily even be that mad, knowing that Lily did the exact same thing? Yeah. That's a good point, Roxy. Yeah, Marge drives me insane, but we do messed up things when we're kids and we don't want to be bullied. I'm totally with you on that, Andrew,
Starting point is 00:12:11 and I don't think she deserved to lose her eyes over it. So that's, that was really, That was gory. Yeah, for sure. And that was a great reveal, too, of Pennywise. I would imagine we're going to see a little bit more now that we've finally gotten a reveal of actual Pennywise here. So. Him in the sombrough.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Yeah. Hardcore. Any final thoughts? Episode four. I just like that both the Hanlon's, Mrs. Hanlon and Hanlon, he goes to her and is like, you need to knock it off. Like, stay in your own box. You've already been arrested. Like, basically give up your dreams in what motor.
Starting point is 00:12:47 motivates you because he's working towards something that is like, we get it, we get what he's working towards. What they don't realize is they're working towards the exact same thing. Yeah. Because in order for her to get him off, sure, there's ways that she can, meaning out of jail, but they're both fighting, yeah, towards the, the exact same thing. They just don't know it yet. So I'm very intrigued as to when those two storylines actually line up to where it's revealed. to both of them, oh shit, this is the same. All three of them.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Every person at that table is working towards the exact same thing. Yeah, yeah. And I'm with you. I think that that will be really interesting. The show has a lot of messaging and, like, being open and honest and telling the truth and being up front, and it would reveal itself quicker if they would join forces. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:39 But everything's so secretive. I'm nervous. What's the guys from Gotham's name? I can't remember the actor's name. No, no. the, you keep calling his name. What's his name? Dick Holleran.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Holleran. Hollerin's character I'm nervous about because he kind of has like a little bit of an evil side too. I know he's following orders, but like, yeah. He, what he did to our, uh, to. Daniel. What he did. Which one's Daniel? Daniel's the, uh, Rose's nephew.
Starting point is 00:14:13 No, that's not who I'm thinking of. What he did to our main guy with the mustache. Handlin? Oh, yeah, yeah. Wait, so it's Hanlon and Halloran? Yeah. Okay. I keep that.
Starting point is 00:14:23 I know. I did that too. They're very annoyingly similar. Yes. So Hallorin's the one who's psychic? Hallorin's, yeah. Halerin did to Hanlon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:31 We were a little creeped out by. Now what he's done to Daniel, we're a little bit creeped out by. And he does know how painful this is. He's doing it anyway, but we do also get the moments where he's like, I think this might be too much. So it's like, between him and James Reamer, our character, I don't know. know that we can trust them fully. So that kind of puts us in a weird position because they're not clearly
Starting point is 00:14:53 the bad guys, but they're not clearly the good guy. They're like jaded from being out there so long looking for the exact same thing that it's like they'll do anything to get it and that means doing the weird juice, doing the hard shit. Also too, I think we, and I've said this word so many
Starting point is 00:15:09 times during the last few episodes or just all the episodes, but I think it was a major foreshadowing, seeing everyone wiped out by Pennywise, who who tries to get near Pennywise is going to be the armed forces now that they're trying to contain him or use him as a weapon,
Starting point is 00:15:24 I believe they're all going to be slaughtered. We also see the biggest fear of Halloran's kid is him come, that plane crash. Yeah, him burning and... Them having the same name is ridiculous. It's dumb. It's very dumb. So Hanlon's the dad.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Hanlon's the pilot's the pilot with Taylor Page. Holy crap. I did it twice. we were reacting i said oh wait no i meant hollering not i'm really struggling with that this is like game of throne shit where they all are totally it's ridiculous god damn you hboh for being so great and also do so dumb in that though so handlin crash yeah everything's kind of foreshadowing and so i'm wondering if there is going to be a bad crash i worry about it i worry about it too but uh yeah great episode also haleran tried to jump out of the plane too so him too handlin and
Starting point is 00:16:16 howling plane graph. Well, I see if he really is the character that's, are you going to watch The Shining? Yes. Oh, no. Hanlon already had an accident before. I know. I know. But I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:16:26 So I think that's what the kid is thinking like, oh, I saw you burning in your accident. That's what was my assumption, not that it's going to happen again. I think he was just like, oh, crap, I'm seeing it now. And it's terrifying. The biggest fear is that it already happened. I, I mean, that. It makes more sense for it to be like, this is going to happen. But to me, I thought that his nightmare, which was now coming true via Pennywise, was, oh, God, here's my dad dying.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Like, you know. That makes sense, too. Yeah. Anyways, guys, let us know your comments. What did you think about this episode? What do you think now that we're at the halfway point? Are you fully on board with this show? Is it awesome?
