Developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs (the team behind IT and IT: Chapter Two), the show digs into Derry’s buried history and the early cycle of fear that will one day unleash Pennywise on a new generation. Episode 5 (“Neibolt Street”) sees Leroy Hanlon (Jovan Adepo – Babylon, Creed II) learning the truth about General Shaw’s operation & deciding to move his family to the base for protection. Meanwhile, the tribal Keepers strategize to contain the growing aggression spreading through town. As the military descends on Neibolt Street, the kids make a dangerous choice of their own — heading into the sewers with a secret objective that may put them directly in Pennywise’s path. Starting point is 00:00:00 Thank you to Shopify for sponsoring this video. More on them in just a bit. It took a minute. Obviously, that's the obvious choice. Three, two, one. I clicked it. Yeah. Good job.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Okay. We just got done watching it. Welcome to Dairy. If you're listening, to us on Apple or Spotify, please give us a five-star rating. Also, thank you to prep for helping edit down these highlights. If you're on YouTube,
Starting point is 00:00:38 like, comment, subscribe when you do. Ring the bell. Ring the bell. That were you notified. Of all the videos, we are dropping. Have that, Andrew. What do you think? Loved it. Great. I love the exploration of all these characters where we are going, how we are
Starting point is 00:00:56 continuing to progress with them, and finally got to see Pennywise, that was such a great reveal. I knew right away, I mean, I know we kept worth saying, is this really, Maddie? I did say that we saw the ghostly character of him when we were at the cemetery,
Starting point is 00:01:12 so I'm like something was off, and that's why I didn't trust it at all, but either way, it was a good subversion of expectations, and it still kept us on our toes, and I think that's, anytime you're watching anything that's in the horror genre, rather, I think that's good to, you know, have the rug pulled from under you, if you will. So I thought that was a great reveal.
Starting point is 00:01:33 And that was Pennywise the entire time as Maddie. So what a great way to bring them into the sewer like that. And I love that Marge is finally part of the group now. I think she brings an interesting dynamic as well as the chemistry between her and Rich is so wholesome, so endearing, so sweet. They're both so adorable. and the way they just those X-Nex pills and the way they were
Starting point is 00:01:58 reacting and just interacting with each other was fascinating I want to give major props to every single actor who acted in the sewer having to be wet all day I know we're just watching them
Starting point is 00:02:13 and admiring what they are doing and envious to what they are doing as well but that is I promise you guys that is not easy to having to be wet all freaking day in between takes it's a pain in the ass. So I just want to give them their props. That's awesome that they did that.
Starting point is 00:02:28 And I'm sure it was not fun. Not just the actors. Well, I mean, the crew as well, of course. Of course. But, yeah, that was a great episode, though. Lots of twist and turns, a lot of tension. The fact that now I got to imagine there's going to be two dynamics happening, at least from a character perspective, when it comes to Hanlon,
Starting point is 00:02:48 he's going to be feeling a level of guilt because he took his friend's life accidentally, of course. Also, he's going to be, I would imagine, a little bit upset with his son that he didn't stay at the base like he asked him to, and that led to what happened because if his son had not been there with his friends, he's still, there's a very big possibility. Russo could have died because they're in a very dangerous situation, but this is the facts of the situation. His son was there, and this is what led to it. So I'm really worried about what the repercussions are going to be of this happen. so I worry a little bit about that but again good TV is where it ends I'm like no I want to watch the next episode right freaking now so fantastic job the drama the horror and then the reveal of course of Madeline Stowe and the the Innocent Man I thought that was great as well you guys great prediction by you guys so I'm loving the show so much good stuff what you think rocks so many so many thoughts my initial question that I'm thinking about is like where Daniel go, though. Yeah. I just think he escaped as best. Yeah, but we just don't know. And I'm still hung up on the, they don't, they think that blank, you know, him and Rose have no, have more knowledge of things.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Right. I think the show is excellent. I really, really trust the Andy Mochetti with this property and where he's going with this. I just think it's phenomenal. I think that it's really smart that actually Maddie was not alive. It would have not made sense. We see him. He's pale.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He's in tent. You'd rather go back to the sewers. I know his dad was absolutely ass, but, like, no way you lived down there that long, and that's how you're feeling about that, especially as a child. I wish that there was a couple things that we weren't doing that are for convenience, continuing to drop things.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I know we make jokes throughout about it, but it, like, does drive me nuts a little bit. And even though it made sense to drop that weapon and ultimately ended up saving Lily, the fact that Daniel dropped it, get out of town. I don't believe that that would happen. Unless he had some kind of future seeing moment
Starting point is 00:04:54 Where he had to put it exactly there Which is not what happened He would have had the bag zipped I agree with you on that It's not just that It's the camera You know there's just There's several of those things
Starting point is 00:05:03 Which I understand in horror Does happen Script writing One of the things they tell you Is that you're allowed to have One coincidence per script That's what you're allowed To get away with
Starting point is 00:05:14 Without the audience being pissed off So I guess we'll chalk that up to That's the one coincidence or whatever So go ahead I was just going to say, having said that, and I do fully agree with you. It was annoying when it happened. I'm glad it did happen because it saved Lily's life, but I do agree with you.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Yeah. So anyway, I feel like I'm really in on these kids. I love their crew. I am glad that Marge is there. I think that Rich is still my favorite. He brings such a great energy to the team. And I'm really excited to see what happens now with Taylor Page and... What is?
Starting point is 00:05:50 Madeline Stone's character? No. What's the guy that she's seeing? Oh, Ronnie's dad? Ronnie's dad. I don't know. Ronnie's dad and Madeline Stowe's character. I'm so invested in that storyline too.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I'm super invested in that. So that's cool. And, you know, now that Taylor's involved in it, and they've just come to grab her. So equal parts, kids and adults, again, of me caring about. And also love that the kids weren't right on this. Like, the kids always think they know best in a lot of these movies. the kids do know best, but oftentimes kids do
Starting point is 00:06:22 things that are stupid. And they went down into the sewer and they shouldn't have. And that was wrong and it didn't help. Right. It cost Russo's life. Reject Nation, when we launched this channel, I thought learning how to film and edit will be hard. Until we launched a merch store. Total panic. But a friend recommended

Thank you again, Shopify for helping us out of more ways than one. Like, I think that Lily's smart enough to know That we don't suggest three pills right off the top We just, we don't go there
Starting point is 00:07:55 We start with one and then we go, are always still afraid We go two to three You'll live you learn, whatever But it seems like it didn't even work That's another thing that did And that part is weird because like Why did you have so much fear? Exactly
Starting point is 00:08:06 Like, and I was like, okay, we just got high In the tunnel for a bit We made out alive, that's a plus Maybe she took the wrong pills Yeah, I know, right? Maybe. I mean, it seems like when Marge and Rich held hands, I was like, are they on ecstasy? I know they're not, but they were like, your hands are so soft and like whatever. I mean, that was a cute, fun scene. I'm mostly curious about Hanlon when he gets back home to his wife, if he's like, yo, I shot you. Like, that's tragic. And now the whole storyline has to come together because now she is. going to speak to Ronnie's dad and Ronnie's dad is going to be like something came at us and I escaped. It all like now we're seeing it all kind of like swirl together, which I'm very excited for to see how that matches up, meaning Mrs. Hanlon, Hanlon, Hanlon, Ronny's dad, Madeline Stowe
Starting point is 00:09:06 all together and they're going to have to be like, we have to protect this man in the story, but now how do we actually prove that it wasn't him? Because right now we have to, You have zero other suspects. So that to me means that Madeline Stowe and Ronnie's dad have to put all of their trust and belief into the handlands to go, keep your mouth shut. There has to be another way that we can prove this because they can't know about our affair.
Starting point is 00:09:31 And also, I think Madeline Stowe's husband would literally kill her. He seems cuckoo bananas. I mean, yeah, the way he was talking to him around. Yeah, asshole. But the kids are great. I thought it was my favorite part, was just they're like are you guys holding hands and marge was like no and it was just like yeah i just thought that was just great writing loved it um yeah i mean those are those are most of my thoughts for now
Starting point is 00:09:59 what you guys have more more thoughts more juice about it say i want to be very careful with my words just because roxy has not seen doctor sleep and has not seen the shining in a while and it really seems like this is the dick hollering from that i'll leave that up to you guys to tell me if that is or is not but it is for sure with the box yeah yeah exactly so i thought like visually and the callbacks and all that was just so well done and then the representation of in his mind and how you put things into into a box like that just really well done and how we can see like the pain internally that he feels and what he had to go through and his backstory just told within a few minutes there really powerful stuff that held a lot of weight and i really felt felt it and really goes a long way
Starting point is 00:10:43 into shedding into his backstory a little bit from the other films that we saw that didn't get to dive too deep into it, but I think when you can tell some stuff like that in just a few moments and be that effective really goes a long way when I rewatch stuff and now I have this to go back to and I appreciate it. Yeah, it's a nice payoff
Starting point is 00:10:59 because I get a Hallor and as I said I was like, why is he giving him weird looks? And now I'm like oh, because he hears what he's thinking from the beginning, but we're just realizing that now. How did you guys feel about how Pennywise actually looks in the show? This is the first time that we're seeing penny wise on the small screen as opposed to on the big screen and in his actuality do you guys feel like it compares financially speaking like do you think that he looked as good that the budget is there i actually did i thought he looked fantastic i personally did not feel in any way it was cheapened by being on tv as opposed to being on the big screen and bill sounded fantastic sounds amazing looked as amazing the set uh is i i feel like this looks as good you could put this on the big screen it would hold up with them. Absolutely. Totally.
Starting point is 00:11:46 That's been great. Acting has been great. It's I mean, it's nice to see how far like I guess TV has come or it's nice, it's upgraded to where, yeah, you could add these together and basically put it on the big screen and it would be like yep. Really good win for
Starting point is 00:12:01 HBO that they, I feel like for a little bit they kind of deviated from being prestige television you know when we had things like the Gossip Girl reboot or things like that but this is a very high caliber of television. 100%.
Starting point is 00:12:19 It's really, really visually, the storytelling and the performances, but visually speaking, this is really high, and I feel like HBO is grounding itself back again. 100%. We know what kind of network that they are. For sure.
Starting point is 00:12:33 And the transitions are so well done. A lot of the Dutch angle shots, I love the cinematography. I will also say this is my final thing. I really wholeheartedly mean this is not me being the shell that I'm often called when it comes to Warner Brothers or whatever it is that I'm covering here.
Starting point is 00:12:48 I am genuinely invested in every single storyline that we were seeing, and I'm not always that way because I watch, as everyone knows, a lot of repeats when it comes to television, Smallville, Entourage, and there's a lot of times when I'm reaping. I usually will still watch things, but there's a lot of times I'll zone out because I'm not as invested in a certain storyline
Starting point is 00:13:07 in a certain season. But right now I'm fully locked in loaded on every single storyline that we are getting. And I think that's, you know, something to be said. Oh, my God. I just had the thought the kids and all the adults are going to come together because now that he saw them, he's going to be like, why were you there? And now the handlings are with De Stowe and Ronnie's dad. And now they're going to be like, we saw the things.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I thought you already said that they're all coming again. But I didn't say the kids too. Oh, I. And now I'm like, oh, God, that's eight of us now that are going to be like, how do we find? Well, I mean, the four or the five kids. kids the four six kids six kids oh i guess one of them's gone now because they're maddie right so ten so five kids five kids five kids four adults nine people i mean right now just like immediate we're i'm like holy crap that's a big crowd i'm very excited that to come together who are you calling the four adults handlin mrs hanlon stanley's dad i was thinking rose maybe would help
Starting point is 00:14:06 but also ronnie's grandmother could be interesting in this as well Oh, that's true. Just because, like, she trusts her son and Ronnie and whatever. And you know what that makes me think of when the kids and the adults come together to fight a horror entity? I think of stranger things and I love it. Also, Halloran could be part of that. Oh, yeah, totally. He's got to be because he's going to be like, I know what y'all are talking about.
Starting point is 00:14:32 And Rose's James Riemar's character. True. Like now it's really everybody if we can get them all together. are in the same. I mean, right now, Stowe and Mrs. Hanlon are in the proper location to meet those people and have it all, like, submerge at the same time. But, I mean, I'm excited now and just knowing that we're getting really close to everybody being on the same page. And that means now how do we all come together to fight it? Which is an exciting thought. Do you guys have any last thoughts to tell the people? That's it, girl. All right, guys.
Starting point is 00:15:11 we love you being here leave a comment tell us how cool we are we'll see you on the next one
