More on them in just a bit.
Okay, I am now going to pull up the season finale of Derry.
Episode 8.
We're watching this on HBO Max.
Full screen, maybe, maybe not.
I guess.
Okay, here we go.
I can't believe this is our last episode of this season, guys.
I know, kind of sad, huh?
Friend of the channel, I got to tell you,
something before we ever started this YouTube channel. John and I actually first tried doing
t-shirt designs. Let me tell you, it did not go well. We did not know how to sell a darn
thing. So we can that. And eventually, YouTube became a thing. But in our heart of hearts,
we always found our way back to merch. The difference is time. Shopify. It allowed us to actually
fulfill the dream we first started on before this channel ever existed. We've been using Shopify
for a couple of years now. We started using them before they ever partnered with us via a sponsorship.
and we've never even thought about switching.
It's just that reliable and so easy to use.
Now, if you've never heard of Shopify,
it's the global commerce platform
that helps you sell online and in person.
So whether you're starting out with one product
or scaling up to thousands,
Shopify's got everything in one place,
customizable templates, inventory management,
analytics, built in marketing tools,
the whole ecosystem.
It's made for beginners like myself.
I still consider myself a beginner,
but trusted by major brands.
Believe me, your customers will feel that too.
It was secure checkout, fast performance, and an experience that feels polished from day one.
So if you have an idea you're sitting on, whether it's, I don't know, comics, candles, pet gear, comic teas, you can make your dream a reality with Shopify.
Just like we did.
You could sign up for $1 per month trial period at Shopify.com slash real rejects.
Once again, that's Shopify.com slash real rejects.
Thank you again, Shopify for allowing us to fulfill something we didn't think was possible.
Wow.
That is so wild.
They tie everything together.
That was really good.
That was really good.
If you're listening to us on Apple or Spotify,
please give us a five-star rating.

When you do, ring the bell.
Ring the bell.
Also, thank you to Prepper for helping edit down these videos.
We super appreciate you.
All right.
We will not have questions because it's too new of a short episode.
So, Andrew, go ahead.
How are you feeling?
It's amazing.
I love this show so much.
I wasn't sure how just everything was going to fit and tie in with the first two movies.
But I think that, excuse me, this show did what I want a show to do that ties into something that has movies.
It pays respect to the lore while also world building and doing its own thing and introducing us to a group of characters that we love.
invested to and that those characters have arcs and arcs that pay off and i think they just did a
fantastic job on this show of course the episode i love the finale hard to say right now if i liked
episode seven or eight more i thought it was a great book end to the entire season but i think seven
was still my favorite episode but eight was a really good uh season finale for season one but i really
it's interesting though because at the end of episode one when they took out the the the kid
I think they did a really smart thing where they took out three of the kids that we had already grown attached to.
And they did a good job of doing that in terms of, okay, the stakes are up.
I don't know what's going on or in terms of like anybody could not be safe at any which point because we know that the loser club is going to take him out at some point in the films because we've already seen that.
But I don't know how they did it, but they accomplished the job of I'm already attached this group.
Why did you throw me for a curve on a loop like this?
and then you made me so attached to this group.
Such a masterful job.
That is not easy to do.
And Bill Scarsgaard, incredible, incredible job.
And not only doing what he did with Pennywise,
but seeing the backstory and the lore when it came to Bob Gray
and seeing how they came full circle with that as well.
This just makes me want to rewatch the entire series again
and then watch the Itchapter movies one and two.
It's fascinating.
And it also gets me so amped and excited.
I'm really hoping I'm praying this does a good job this show.
and that we really do get to see seasons two and three
because it's doing something that's different
and original in terms of it's going back to the past.
I know other shows have done that too,
but most of the time shows usually go the sequel route,
not the prequel route when it comes to the next season.
So I'm just so fascinated.
I love this world.
I love the characters in it.
And I thought this was such an incredible season.
It just kept on getting better and better and better
and tension kept on ramping.
So I really enjoyed this season in this episode.
Before I throw it to Roxy, I'm going to say one thing.
I think the most impressive thing about this episode is how thick the ice was.
Nobody felt true.
I can't believe.
Didn't you think that was going to be a plot point at some point?
I did.
I really did.
Because when you were like, especially when they all fell from when they were floating, I saw
a little bit of a crack under them.
It's the biggest fear of mine.
I like can't concentrate when that's happening.
It happened in Blackphone too as well.
I'm just like, oh my God, get off of the ice.
You know when you're growing up and something's told you a thousand times,
never go on the ice, never go on the ice, never go on the ice.
And like, anytime I see anybody go on the ice, I'm like, never go on the ice.
Don't do it.
You don't know.
For me, I feel like I've been wondering kind of at the end of the year with my 130 shows
that I've watched this year where it, welcome to Derry was going to place.
And I think the penultimate and the finale ultimately landed this.
in my top 10 shows of the year because of how invested I feel and how much I think they stuck
the landing. They also had a very difficult job because what they're doing right now is telling
the middle of a sandwich. Like they are, we've already told what is the ending. And they didn't
go back to the beginning. They're now going back and then you kind of wonder why. And this finale
answers the question of why, because Pennywise goes back, because time is not linear for him.
And so he's able to go back.
So that's exactly what we're doing.
And then to make that all make sense and have these Easter eggs throughout and have these
through lines that are really miraculous that they were able to do.
You know, and of course, that's partially because of source material.
But in general, I just think that that is like, you couldn't have nailed it more.
Bringing Richie back, obviously pulled up my heartstrings at funeral.
I love that they didn't kill him off and then forget about him.
He was still so relevant in this finale.
and they needed his hand and his force.
And he'll stick with them for the rest of their lives,
including the fact that Marge ultimately ends up naming her child,
Ritchie, which a lot of fans had speculated about in the first place.
So I just, I think that this was such an intricate tapestry to weave.
And they did it perfectly.
And this is why I love television more than I love movies.
We were able to live with them longer.
We didn't introduce Pennywise until over halfway through.
we got to meet these kids we killed off kids we knew that the stakes could not have been higher
and we introduced a whole new group fell in love with them killed them off in some ways
or at least with richie so it's like yeah i thought that was amazing even with tanniel that death
was very impactful especially because of our attachment to rose as well so the deaths hit home
the character arcs like marge i can't believe we all love her that's crazy um i could keep going but
I did not like you in the beginning.
No.
She's an incredible character.
I want to use the word hate, Tara.
I know she's a child, but she was the worst.
And I felt like I was the only one in episode, I think, too.
I was like, I freaking hate her.
And you guys were like, she might come back.
And I was like, I doubt it.
It's a strong word.
Joffrey I hate.
Her I strongly disliked.
I do have a couple of things that I do wish we were able to explore more because I know we're not
going to be able to explore them because we're going back.
But for example, I'm,
calling them the plastics they went by a different name i forget what they went by but like i don't
really feel like they got their cremoppins the got the gossip girls yes yeah i i just don't really
feel like they got what was due and what should have been coming to them and same thing with the
military i don't really feel like other than of course um shaw other than shaw who really got what was
coming in and team penny wise for that i i feel like this honorable discharge situation doesn't
take any, and of course it doesn't, it's the government, but it doesn't take any accountability
for the fact that they unleashed this beast as part of their plan on purpose and then went
shooting at the people who tried to make sure that the beast didn't get out. So, you know,
those two things, like those are two, I know our big bad is pennywise, but our littler bads
were those bitchy girls and the military. And we really don't see that them really get what I
wanted was just like a big punch to the face.
Yeah. So we didn't have time and that's okay.
Yeah. I'm just, if there was a season two of this and we completely avoided Pennywise and just
like stuck with the characters, I wouldn't mind that because I liked them so much and want
to see more. Right. Yeah. I think the only vengeance we got was when Marge went suck on this or
something and show her eye. That was amazing. Which was great. But I do agree with you. I mean,
I really did want someone to get in the van and run them over. That's what I would have done.
But that's me.
I think my favorite part in here is obviously Richie coming back.
And then when we're at the funeral and he's standing behind his parents and Dick is saying that hand you feel on your shoulder, he's like, that's your boy.
I was like, oh.
And it'll always be there.
It'll always be there.
And I love that.
And I also love that right after that Mars sees that that plane finally made it to Main Street.
And I'm like, oh, it's like so heartfelt.
I love that writing because it makes you really care
and it's in a mixture of drama and absolute horror.
Like the fact that we got to see all those different heads
with Pennywise was creepy as hell.
I thought it was great effects.
I know initially a few episodes I think Rocks
or one of you guys told us that people are not liking the effects.
Not that I wasn't, but that people had issues.
People had issues, right?
It wasn't their favorite shots.
Yeah.
Not their favorite.
I think the favorite, yeah, we went back and forth.
I liked a lot when he changed his freaking face.
And also when he was frozen.
That practical statue was incredible.
Was amazing.
It looked great.
The floating kids through the snow was amazing too.
That looked awesome too.
Yeah, absolutely.
And it's funny, like, in just in getting to this episode this morning, I was talking to my aunt.
My aunt goes, your mom hasn't visited me in a while.
But actually, this morning, the candle had started to light.
then my lights didn't work and that's how my mom communicates to my aunt so what i was watching how
dick was saying to them oh rich and he's right there i was like i think that that stuff is real
i i like it's it's a real thing and i already i already had my aunt's lights checked out so before
anybody comes for me and the candles are not on a timer they're either on or they're off okay
And so there are sometimes, especially around the holidays, the candle will turn on on its own, and then her lights will not work at all.
Your mom's trying to burn the house down.
Totally.
Absolutely.
So that hit home for me.
I really, really enjoyed it.
I think this is a super fun show.
I love the effects.
I love all the characters.
They brought their A game in regards to acting.
So really great casting.
Yeah, what else?
What are your last things you guys want to say?
I also thought the actor played Dick Hollering just did such a great job, just playing this character who's so, yeah, he is phenomenal playing this tormented character who's got to deal with these spirits and the dead like communicating with him. Like I can only imagine now. And I think Roxy said it best like someone who's deals with schizophrenia. And I think he just did such a great job visually presenting that and the way he emotes and its facial expressions. So very powerful job. And also too, they set the lore as well in getting us ready for the
shining in doctor sleeps and now it makes me want to i know we just reacted to that a month or so
makes me want to watch that too when i when i watch this so and i love the way he was able to go
head to head literally toe to toe with penny wise and that was incredible also seeing in the head
in the mind of the entity of penny wise like that that was so fascinating visually if i had just
a baby minor gripe with this episode i just would have loved even though we got the comeuppance
of francis shaw and that was so damn satisfying i just would have loved to just from
a scene of maybe reclaiming a slight bit of his humanity just rose telling him off
and what he's doing is completely wrong. I just would have, and I know we didn't have a lot of
back. Yeah, but I know we didn't have a lot of time or not, but I would have liked even if it's a
minute or two interaction of just her telling him like everything he's doing trying to control
this thing. Like what happened to that sweet boy and maybe he would have said like, hey,
he was buried and he died in that for whatever, just some kind of an interaction. I just would
have liked that personally, but it's just a me thing. But aside from that,
I love this episode, the last episode, just incredible TV, incredible show.
I'm sad.
We're not going to get to continue it right now, but I can't wait for season two.
Now I want to watch the movies again.
So great job to everyone who worked on the show, actors, crew, writers, everyone.
I think for me, the one thing that we haven't really spoken about that I think is so brilliant
was the artifact storyline and then using that to seal off again.
because sometimes these shows that are kind of borderline mystery shows,
they miss the mark, but they introduced that storyline so early on.
This is part of why I love streaming so much because you clearly had your entire story
laid out before you started shooting and you knew that there was going to be all of these
pillars plus this one dagger and if a pillar had to get melted, the dagger was going to go in
there.
And even though I had all the information, I wasn't thinking, oh, we have the dagger to use.
as a pillar and so when that came up it was still as a surprise to me which i think is so
brilliant so the show kept me on my toes and it had really smart writing which is difficult to do
um they could have done instead of that like it's the power of friendship and love that keeps him
inside and that's what this pillar you know but this was like tangible and real no we have this
thing and we're going to put it here so i thought that that was really really well done um yeah
it couldn't have worked better great point because i was just thinking of that artifact and not only
the power of friendship and love to keep
Pennywise away and that you're not using
and you're not afraid of him in terms of fear, but I was also
just thinking that artifact is kind of like it's
kryptonite and you're just using that to keep him away
and battle him with that. But I love
how you still kept that open-ended
and not even thinking about that and just kept us
on our toes. Right. So what about you
Tara? Any final? Yeah, I loved it.
I also just love that you
made a lot of the women in here
strong. Like even Hanlon's
wife, she's a strong woman. I
hate seeing that
most women are like weak or they don't
know how to grab a weapon. Rose knows
how to do that. I appreciate that.
There's still a lot of TV. Rose or Taylor pages. Both of them.
Both of them. Yeah.
Hanlon's wife, strong woman.
She always is, her moral code
is right on there. She wants to help everybody.
I like that. But if she also knows it's wrong,
she's like, F you, I'm gone.
I love that. And I also love that. Rose.
She grabs a weapon. She knows what's going on.
And I love that because even still in today,
2025, there's still a lot
of writing where it's like, you know,
I don't know. Girls are always being cast
or women or whatever where it's like
they don't know how to do things and I don't enjoy that.
I think it's getting better
but I'm just giving you all credit.
That is all I have to say.
I think we've talked about
all of the things.
We loved being here with you guys.
We are very excited and I do hope
they get to continue with season two and three.
Obviously, they left us
with that. So we hope they get to
carry on leave all the likes leave all the comments tell us your favorite parts about this show now
that it's over spoil away we love you guys and we will see you on the next one
