Gift Someone (Or Yourself) An RR Tee! https://shorturl.at/hekk2 The Scream Queens are BACK to take on the CREEPER as they give their Jeepers Creepers reaction, recap, commentary, breakdown, analysis, & spoiler review!! Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson react to Jeepers Creepers (2001), the cult-favorite horror film that blends road-trip dread with creature-feature terror and became a staple of early-2000s genre cinema. The movie follows a seemingly ordinary drive through rural America that turns into a relentless fight for survival against something far more sinister than expected. Justin Long (Dodgeball, Barbarian) stars as Darry Jenner, a college student whose curiosity proves dangerously costly after he and his sister witness a disturbing roadside discovery. Gina Philips (Final Destination 2, Ally McBeal) plays Trish Jenner, whose instincts and determination drive much of the film’s escalating tension as the siblings realize they’re being hunted. Their nightmare intensifies with the reveal of The Creeper (Jonathan Breck – Spider-Man 2, Star Trek: Voyager), an ancient, winged predator that awakens every 23 years to feed—turning the open road into a claustrophobic trap. The film is packed with iconic horror moments, including the unsettling church pipe discovery, the nerve-shredding highway pursuit, the shocking police station massacre, and the bleak, unforgettable ending that cemented the movie’s reputation for cruelty and suspense. We break down the scares, performances, creature mythology, and why Jeepers Creepers still sparks discussion as one of the most memorably grim horror films of its era. Starting point is 00:00:00 I was guilty of multiple skin care crimes. Two counts of sleeping in makeup. One count of using disposable wipes. I knew my routine had to change. So I switched to Garnier-Missler water. It gently cleanses, perfectly removes makeup, and provides 24-hour hydration. Clear away the evidence with the number one
Starting point is 00:00:20 Missler water worldwide by Garnier. Local news is in decline across Canada. And this is bad news for all of us. With less local news, noise, room and misinformation fill the void, and it gets harder to separate truth from fiction. That's why CBC News is putting more journalists in more places across Canada, reporting on the ground from where you live, telling the stories that matter to all of us, because local news is big news.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Choose news, not noise. CBC News. With AMX Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Thank you to Shopify for sponsoring this video. More on them in just a bit.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Right? Yeah, we got that Jeep creeps on the ways. Exactly. Three, two, one. I already clicked. Okay, guys, we just got done watching the old Jeepers creepers. And if you're listening to a Snap or Spotify, please give us five-star rating. Thank you to prep for up and edit down these highlights.
Starting point is 00:01:41 So hard for these movies. Yeah, it's a tough one. The way that you can support us is on Patreon. Two coolest things I think is because you get to send us questions. I think we're watching it a full week in advance of the schedule. But you also get 15% off. I'll reject nation shop gear, including the new Sheejack sweater, just in time for the old Valentine's Day. We got a pink and red one, limited time only.
Starting point is 00:02:05 So get up on there. Also, yeah, it helps keep the lights on. It helps keep us here. So get on Patreon if you know it's good for you. If you're on YouTube, like, comment, subscribe when you do ring the bell. Ring the bell. Okay, let's get to this, Rox. How are you feeling about the good old Jeep Creek?
Starting point is 00:02:27 I think that movie was awesome. Yeah. I have so many, I'm curious what the budget was, like what the plan was. There weren't as many twists and turn. like we made up more things than actually happened. Totally. She kept looking up and all that. I thought something was going to happen with the sister and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:02:43 But it was really well done. I get why it's kind of a cult classic that people like so much. Yeah. And yeah, I'd be excited to watch another one kind of see what they do with this character. And if she's involved, I'm sad that Justin Long is gone now. But that worked for me. Oh, God. So $10 million budget in 2011.
Starting point is 00:03:06 one grossed over 59 million worldwide okay okay i mean it did very well obviously uh yeah well the bitch just kept growing like after we're going i was like oh this is like a little bottle movie and then it was like oh no we have multiple other people um but they they used their money wisely they saved it for the for the special facts yeah yeah um the practicals which were amazing uh so that weird ass dude uh whoever played him i'm gonna look at why i played the creeper be yeah um and then Can you also tell me who she is? Yeah, let's see. Okay, so he's played, the creeper is played by...
Starting point is 00:03:42 She's Jonathan Breck. Okay, let's see. Who's, let me click Gina Phillips. That's the sister. You thought you were gonna, oh, she has two credit? Oh, okay. Actors 50. I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:03:55 No, you just clicked on that wrong thing, boo-boo. Oh, my bad. There we go. Okay. Hi, J. No. Okay, she's an episode of Monk. CSI New York one episode though
Starting point is 00:04:07 Keeps going down I don't know any of these Episode of ER Okay so probably just episode of Boston Public I guess I've just I'm a lot I'm a deal Okay she's in that for a while
Starting point is 00:04:20 She was in an episode of sliders All right so I just probably know her She's probably popped into some of my TV shows Yeah absolutely And then but the guy though Like I'm like Jonathan Breck Yeah it was he is he a giant
Starting point is 00:04:35 because his physicality was insane. Right? So. Spy Kids 4. Interesting. Oh, okay. It seems like he's in a bunch of cheapers creepers. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Yeah. And the last thing more recent is 2018, so it doesn't look like he's been working as of late. Very good cast, though. Really good. Yeah. Oh, God. What a weird. What did you think of that?
Starting point is 00:05:03 Actually, I liked it. Like, once I realized in the beginning where I was like, oh, there's good. going to be plot holes where you're yelling at this movie, but it's kind of, that makes it fun when you realize it's not just one mistake. You're like, oh, it's multiple. Like, this is so dumb. What are they doing? Why are they stopping? Where are they going back? Like, but then you can kind of have fun with it. And the thing is, is what they did really well is the suspense, the jump scares. Even some of the ride, like I said, oh, I like some of the writing with the cops. And there was some good writing in here. I think the plot holes were obviously on purpose. And again, I still don't
Starting point is 00:05:35 know what the hell she's looking at. Yeah. Like I don't know, but maybe that will come out. I don't know. I had fun with this movie and I really give them a lot of credit for the practical
Starting point is 00:05:46 effects and even the special effects on the wings. Like they didn't, it didn't look bad. It looks cool. It was creepy. Great reveal, especially when he's just on top of the car. A lot of things really scared me and I thought that they did,
Starting point is 00:06:00 even though they did look doll-like on purpose. Exactly, because of the embalming, I thought that that looked really good. Like, that reveal was a lot of fun. And that's when he said, he was like, it felt like wood. So they explained that. Yeah. There's so many things that you and I were like, I mean, not even clap your hands and grab a weapon.
Starting point is 00:06:19 It was just like, leave. Did you get out of that? Your car didn't break down, shockingly. And she was just standing there. Leave. Get out. Yeah. Don't go back in the first place when you see dead bodies being thrown.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Use your words to explain, like, all of that stuff. but you know, that's fine. That happens in like every horror movie. It does. And I'm like, okay, they're doing it on purpose. Maybe it's fun because they want the audience to be like, what the hell, man? Because that is sort of, they might have been self-aware because in the beginning, she says to the brother, you know, in every horror movie when somebody, when the character makes it done and we yelled him.
Starting point is 00:06:52 And I'm like, well, that's going to happen a lot in this one. So I liked it. I mean, I had fun. Let's get to our questions. We have quite a few. first one's from Awesome Joe movie reviews says it's because this movie I'm terrified of driving in the middle of nowhere especially at night
Starting point is 00:07:07 I saw this movie when I was 14 felt at the ending of the movie Trisha was going to follow the black bird where the creepers hide out was located to go in and save her brother the same way Derry went into the tunnel the church to try and save whomever they saw to throw in the beginning of the movie
Starting point is 00:07:22 instead we get what we got which is still satisfying and unique did you see this movie ending in a whole other way as well or are you happy with what we got? I'm kind of with him on both. Like I also, when she's looking up, I'm like, okay, she's going to go after her.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I was literally like, is she a werewolf? Why is it full moon? Right. And then like the fact that we didn't see him die, I was like maybe she can save him. So I kind of was writing my own movie, but I am satisfied, happy with what we got,
Starting point is 00:07:48 especially knowing there's other movies. Yeah. And, you know, like, exactly what the woman envisioned happened. He lost his eyes. Yeah. And I do like the writing move where she's like,
Starting point is 00:07:59 I'm just a crazy old lady. And she never did say it was her. She just looked at her. So that's a bit of a bait and switch, and that was fun to sort of keep us on our toes. But I was like, did they change sense? Did they just, you know, like, I was thinking all this stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Like, what was like, move. That part was a little weird. I don't know what that was about. But I do still agree with the awesome Joe. It was satisfying and definitely unique. The retro witch says, my question is, what do you think about spending the whole movie
Starting point is 00:08:28 thinking the monsters after the girl and it turns out to be the brother. Do you think the twist works or was it too obvious? I don't think I spent the whole movie thinking that they were after the girl. It was only towards the end that I thought that they were. Agreed. I didn't even really think of that as a twist. And no, I didn't think it was too obvious. The only thing is with the clothes, it's like, yeah, well, he was after the close. Yeah, but I don't think that they, no, no, I think was fine. Yeah, I didn't. I was not thinking that the whole time. I only thought it at the end. which you saw me going, oh, it has to be the girl because that lady's after her. So, like I said, I was like, yeah, it's an okay twist.
Starting point is 00:09:05 I wasn't, it wasn't like a shocker because it was only between the two of them, but I still liked it. Fellow rejects, starting something new isn't just hard. Starting point is 00:10:32 Rev says, hey guys, happy to have a Sheeject's reaction to brighten up this dark world we're currently in. I hear you. My question is about the sibling dynamic. How do you guys think the sibling dynamic shaped the tension differently than if these characters were friends or a couple? And if you had to survive a horror movie with one of your actual siblings, which sibling would you choose?
Starting point is 00:10:49 And do you think you can do it? Love you all. And Roxy, let's go, Pat. Go Patriots. I don't know when this is dropping for you guys. but at that point I'm either very happy or very sad about the Super Bowl. I mean the sibling dynamic got better over time
Starting point is 00:11:05 in terms of they felt more like siblings. At first I really felt like romantic. They made that inbreed comment and whatever and they were looking at each other so often. Like I love, I love, love, love my siblings but we just don't be looking at each other like that. So, you know, it's just like. So, but I do think it's more interesting
Starting point is 00:11:23 to have this be siblings than to have this be. friends or lovers because the aspect of like they're going home for college break why are they together and then also when she at the end is like take me instead i do think you know that's like as much they've given each other and they only got into this mess because her brother decided to go back like that that's your sibling um yeah so that if if i had to survive a horror movie with one my actual siblings if it was this i mean there's literally zero shot in how my brother's sister or i would be like let's go back we would just be gone and then we would call the cops and say go check out this place there was it seemed like bodies were going down so totally um yeah i think we would survive
Starting point is 00:12:05 that the only thing that we wouldn't survive is anything where people were fast like if you was you all slow as hell yeah girl yeah i don't run yeah i'm slow skip it slow skip it hardcore i'm an only child i can't answer your question what about the first part the sibling dynamic yeah like the sibling dynamic, I do, I do like that. Like you're saying the tension differently, it builds up differently because they are just siblings. And I agree. I'm trying to like think at my head like, okay, she would have made, I think it would have made her seem even more dumb and frustrating to me if she was his girlfriend making the moves that she was making. Like, can't do the car, she's waiting on the side of the road.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Right. That was already frustrating for me. So I like that it was his sister. I think that helps the writing for me somehow. I agree. I don't know why, but I think if it was his girlfriend, it would have made it just even more excruciating. I'm like, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:13:12 You know? So J. Dell, if you were driving that long, empty road and saw something that suspicious going down, would you trust your instincts and keep driving or curiosity to get the better of you? like it did for Darren Tris. That would be so far gone. And I'm such a curious person, but no.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I mean, they literally saw bodies going down. Yeah. I mean, it's ridiculous. And they had no weapon with them. At all. And we both were yelling. I mean, I'm sure you heard us, Jadale, in the beginning. Drive.
Starting point is 00:13:37 Like, what are you doing multiple times? Drive. Yeah. To get the out of their. K. Deasy, baby, says, what's up, Roxiemterra? After watching Jeepers, Creepers, which movie turned real life?
Starting point is 00:13:51 do you think would be the hardest to survive and the easiest to survive Halloween with Michael Myers, A Nightmare in Elm Street with Freddie Krueger, Child's Played with Chuckie, Friday the 13th with Jason Forhees, wrong term with the cannibal hillbilly,
Starting point is 00:14:03 scream with your worst school bully as a ghost face or Jeepers, with the creeper. So she asked which movie, okay, would you think would be the hardest to survive? And the easiest. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I think the easiest always is the Halloween movies because he's just so, Slow. He's slow as hell. He is. He really is. I guess same thing with Friday 13th.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Jason's so slow. Yeah. They're both so slow. They are. Just leave the swamp and just leave where Michael, like, just leave and you be fine. Exactly. I think that probably the hardest one to survive honestly might be wrong turn. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Because they're just crazy. Oh, God. They just, they're everywhere and like somehow, and they breed, right? And then there's just too many of them. And to her point, like Michael, there's only one. Freddie, there's only one. But I do. There's only one.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Freddie would be hard because you can't fall asleep. That would be. That would be the hardest one, I think, because I would definitely fall asleep and be dead. I would just go, let's just end it. Now I'm going to bed. And GoFace is creepy as hell, but I feel like we'd be able to maybe suss that out. That's how many of there are. There are four ghosts.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Three ghost face, two goes face. Oh yeah, you're right. There was so, yeah, I'm with her. Jeepers, creepers hard because he can fly. Oh, God, he's a freaking bad. That would be, that's really, honestly, he might be the hardest only because he just needs anyone around him to, like, pull an eyeball or eat a foot and be fine again,
Starting point is 00:15:41 which is creepy as hell. But you just never, not going back. Like, you just leave. You just leave, but we don't do that in our movies. Hasina Ali, as a director, no longer has rights, this franchise who do you think would be a great director for the reboot? It's got to be somebody kind of quirky. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Right? Because they were drawn kind of comedy in there or like trying to throw the casual combo in there. I don't know if it's just like the James Wan. Like it's got to be somebody a little offbeat, I feel. I agree with that. What about, what's the name of the guy who, oh, Ari Aster. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:15 What is, yeah, let me look it up. He's done like three different movies that I think are very not in line with. this but like oh midsummer is great you saw hereditary i think yes that that's a really great choice and begonia that's a good one he didn't do bologna oh he didn't i don't know i don't know why it said that let me go to his iogos lanthamos okay yeah so here aaster he's done okay bo's afraid hereditary midsummer like just like kind of creepy um he did do bologna oh no produced by i'm i'm telling you bye i love yorgos slam the most one of the only things I'm confident is what he's directed right um I I love that I think
Starting point is 00:16:59 that's a great choice um and I love me so May 24 keep trying to tell him to put me on any a 24 movie they want but we don't watch those here I feel you on that um yeah I think that's a good one uh j Russian. What rejects has the nicest eyes? I don't know. Who has? I'm trying to think of anybody's eyes. You have brown. I have brown, hazel.
Starting point is 00:17:27 John has blue. You and I have very similar both the like light brown eyes. Do John have colored like blue weird eyes? I think John might have pretty eyes. It's tough. Coy's got to have light eyes, I think. Coy. Coy has the light eyes.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Let's see. John's eyes. I can't even think of John's eye color. I'm looking at videos on social. Color eyes do they even have? It's got to be coy. I think he has blue eyes. John's eyes seem brown. Yeah. No, maybe they're blue. I don't know what color eyes does John have. They're dark. They're dark. Yeah. I think you're right with coy. Yeah, it's got the light blue eyes. Yeah, it's coy. Coy does. Do you think that blue eyes are the prettiest?
Starting point is 00:18:19 Blue eye? People scare me sometimes. People, everybody, I feel like wants blue eyes. They want blue eyes. They want green eyes because they're like striking. Yeah. Right? Because they're so just like, oh, wow, not everybody.
Starting point is 00:18:32 But, like, I'm not the person who's like, wow, love a person with blue eyes. I can't get enough. I'm like, I can honestly care less. Like, if there's snooze to talk to, I'm like, I would love. to leave immediately. I'm with you. Like, I skip it. Jay Dell's got a little piece
Starting point is 00:18:50 of trivia. The creeper's design was inspired by a mix of classic movie monsters and Batman villains and you started singing Batman. The director, Victor Salva, intentionally avoided explaining too much about the creature to make it for it
Starting point is 00:19:00 and make it feel more unsettling, which we did appreciate. The mystery was meant to be part of the fear. Yeah. We like that. Just like you said, Jaws didn't reveal it. Same thing they did.
Starting point is 00:19:10 A good use of light when he first starts eating the freaking head and the tongue. Narlies have a tongue. Disgusting. This is a, it was a fun time. They did a great job with the casting. I'm glad that it was Justin in here that were at least watching people who,
Starting point is 00:19:26 they're good actors, even if there's the plot holes in some of the writing. But I think it's on purpose. I think it's a self-war movie and they did an amazing job in the practical effect. So I'd be here for the next one and all the rest. I'm guessing we will be. Yeah. I mean, well, yeah, we will be here.
Starting point is 00:19:41 We'll be here for however many there are. I don't know. We'll be here. We will be here. You got any last thoughts, rocks? No. Can't wait to watch the next one with you. Yeah, good times.
Starting point is 00:19:50 We love you guys. Be nice, but cool. Be kind. See you on the next one.
