This is not good.
That is not.
good like he's so old and then they're saying they're saying that he was from the beginning
they're the whole time very very beginning because he put the thing down because now I was thinking
it might work because he John looks very old so they're saying like you got chemo and all this
and then oh you found out you don't actually have cancer so you're going to live and you're
going to live old but it's going to be fine and here I introduce you I messed it up sorry but it
doesn't make sense because they're saying he was in the very first game from the very,
very beginning.
Exactly.
So they're saying that he never actually had cancer.
So why was he dying at all?
And why did they give him chemo then?
Like, are we supposed to ignore everything that's happened in the other movies, y'all?
This is really bad.
Oh, my God.
Like, other people have to be upset by this, right?
If you've watched all of the other movies, you have to go wait.
That doesn't, I mean, it does, I get there trying to explain it like, okay, it makes sense.
you're like, you mixed it up and he doesn't have cancer.
And that's why he's still alive.
But like, it just seems like such a cop out to me.
It seems like a not a good plot point.
It's a cop out.
And not only do they try to retcon this for the sake of their own story, but it retroactively
ruins the rest of them because you're like, oh, he never actually had cancer.
But he was the guy who helped me so I could do this to you now.
I was like, that's, that's dumb.
That's really dumb.
Did I see the twist coming?
No, not particularly, but just because you do a twist that you don't see coming doesn't mean it makes logistical sense.
Yeah, I mean, they're trying to go, yes, this makes, this makes sense because he never had cancer and that's why he's still alive.
But I'm like, dude, we have so many other movies that have set up this world and now you're just, you're basically ripping it all out to give us this film.
Exactly.
Which I don't understand.
I was like, okay, so why go through all of that?
Why do you have all these other assistants to carry on your legacy?
What's the point of this stuff of Paul?
Oh my gosh, you guys, if you're listening to this on Apple or Spotify, I'm supposed to say this before we got into our review, but I got upset.
Please rate this episode.
And don't forget guys to buy a t-shirt.
You go to www.
Rejectation shop.
Dot com, but you have to put it in the www.
There are some people are having trouble getting t-shirts from-
Rejectation shop.
put in the WW double before okay and we appreciate you so rate it high anyway get back at it
yeah yeah this movie was uh not good i will say okay before i go into it again yeah there's some
there's some positives there is there is let's say some positives but yeah the traps were very cool
very inventive this is the first time since the first or second movie we're focusing on a cast
of characters that are going through this this peril uh i know they've done it in other movies but
I feel like this is the most effective.
They've done it since the second one.
That being said, it just, I don't know, it didn't come together.
Once they introduced the fact that it was actually Jigsaw, the original coming back,
that's when the movie kind of lost me.
I'm like, all right, they're going to need to do something crazy to win me back.
And even if they did try to do it or when we did get to the point where they tried to do it,
it didn't work entirely.
like the fact that he was at first i was like okay oh no it was him this whole time oh the games we were watching
was 10 years ago oh okay okay this makes sense nope because he was there the whole time from the
beginning but i don't know and then there's no mention of any of the other supporting characters
like his wife or hoffman or amanda it's just none of them like how did they not how was not
how did they not go well we have to place him now in the background he's the guy you didn't see
when Amanda was still around, or when the other detective was still around, who ended up being
the guy that this new frickin' more guy was in the background the whole time. Like, right? Like,
I would have incorporated that somehow, but they just threw him in here. I think the thing that
bugs me the most, because I knew that in the beginning, I was like, we figured out, or I was like,
we were saying, it must be a voice thing. Like, they're messing with his voice. And like, it's now.
It's now time. Here's his voice and someone else is behind the scenes. Right.
Which it was.
It was more guy.
But the fact that they have to connect him to John and that John was still alive because he didn't have cancer, which he had for like two of the movies.
Right.
Like three of the movies, I think.
Or three of them.
He was dying the whole time.
So you're saying like, yeah, you would be, you would be very mad at him if he messed up your x-rays because you were under chemo.
You're in a wheelchair with oxygen on.
and in a bed, and you got your brain drilled into.
Like, I'm just like, what?
No, no.
Like, it's just there's some pieces that I'm like, but the jigsaw, it's not a good
jigsaw with that.
I feel like.
The puzzle don't fit.
It doesn't fit very well.
I get what they're trying to do, but it's not like, wow, that was great.
And oh, we got here, which I had, did we say.
number one and number two, I felt that.
And I did really appreciate the game in this.
The game's good.
We follow the characters.
We finally got what we wanted.
An isolated game with characters where we just follow them, get to know them.
They have to work together and confess and do all that.
But then when we break out of it and we find what sexy lady cop?
She just ran off and we never.
Well, yeah.
So she is going to be his alibi because he was there when the cop kind of came.
and kidnapped him.
So sexy lady cop is going to be in the next one.
Yeah.
But wait.
Then who was the one that injected him to put him in the trap in the first place?
If he,
oh,
because he knocked him out and then he knocked him out.
And then he knocked him out.
Yes.
And then he went.
Okay.
I see.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
That's disappointing.
I mean,
there's.
The fact that they,
they waited seven years only to go and then retroactively
fuck up the rest of their timeline is insane.
I was like,
Wow, I've never seen a movie go and willingly just go screw itself over for the sake of a cash grab.
And, oh, man, like, the effects are cool.
You can definitely tell this is a different director, different creative team.
But, man, I just don't think that they really landed it.
And it sucks because it was starting to get interesting.
It was interesting in a way that we hadn't seen in a long time.
And the gore was cool, I guess.
And I don't know, man.
The games were cool.
I like the actors.
I appreciate that we got an isolated game with just the people we were following them.
It reminded me a lot of, like, not really one but two.
Which, and the, as I was saying, during it, the lighting and the way that it's shot much more cinematic,
especially from the last, like three, they were, like, we would always say, like, more TV movie.
This seemed like more movie movie, great.
But the thing that makes me the most mad is when he sets down the thing from one, from,
one the thing from one that's from one right that's from one yeah because i was a manda's trap
so he was there before amanda nope there before and why is he so young then it's been 10 it's been
how long how does john i just what was he he's a child oh my god are they going to say no because
they showed him are they going to say that the more guy is like the kid did we ever find that kid
from one or two that was trapped
that we were like
I don't think
I think the only trap he did for
for this guy was the bucket head
remember Walberg's kid
Walberg's kid no
because he wouldn't have no because that wouldn't make sense
because he'd be an adult already
that's what I'm saying but he
right so that's
that's what makes me mad by saying
he's like from the very
beginning and he lays down the
hat from one and it's
and the guy is the age
that he is when he lays down the number one hat that he is right now and he's cutting off the other
detective's face right he hasn't he hasn't aged and i need a timeline on it this movie doesn't care
about connor but it makes me so upset and everyone else should be upset too because we should care
about that i hope y'all are upset because this doesn't make any sense it's like a lot of it was
cool but a lot the ending when you don't make sense with it it gets me upset yeah i will say that
they were trying to be cute
they're trying to be clever with it right
because they the fact that
the guy in the room with him
turned out to be the killer
or turned to be the new Jigsaw
the whole time
that's a callback to one
him closing in the cellar
call back to one
the fact that there is like five of them
in the room
call back to two
and to um
I don't remember which one it was
when they were all
had the one with their neck
and they had to get the key
four or five something like that
so they're like callbacks
and references to previous games
not to mention the room of memorabilia
For some reason that girl just has in a warehouse because, you know, she can afford it with that salary.
I don't know.
There's a lot of stuff in here just didn't make sense.
Like, I understand some of the intention.
Like, they wanted to bring the franchise back for a sense of nostalgia.
But you got to at least make it plausible if you're going to do something like that.
Because otherwise, you're on the risk of ruining everything you've set up with just one movie that takes place years later.
Because even when we saw the detective in three or four, they gave us glimpses of like he was in the environment where Amanda was, right?
We were like, oh, he has been there the whole time.
This one just was like, and I've been there the whole time.
Here's the cap from one.
And then they did the same thing with the last movie, with the guy who was in the first movie.
Remember the doctor?
Yes.
Like, but that's so, it's a lazy pull.
Like, why are we doing that?
We're better than this.
And there's a lot of like decent writing and decent games in here that I think is good.
Yeah.
Like that I'm like those setups and stuff like I was really engaged.
But the flip on it, I'm just like, no, we got to try harder, I think.
Yeah.
I feel like most of them, one thing I will say, all the stuff with the proper games and with John isolated was good.
Prime time.
All that stuff was good because it felt authentic to the character that we has.
established in the past eight seven eight movies and I'm like okay good but everything around that
the plot of the thing itself in a whole does not work no it doesn't work I was like okay I get it
you want to bring back to the stuff because you want to bring back the the nostalgic feel of
this franchise also popular and it was cool that it took us like eight movies but the fact that we
finally got to see the culmination of a game with John being the person talking to them at the end
Yeah.
Which was like, okay.
That was kind of cool.
Yeah, yeah.
I liked that aspect because normally, or we've come accustomed to either being Hoffman there
or being Amanda there or he's just like bedwritten or something.
So, you know, I liked that thing in a vacuum.
But yeah, overall, this movie was a pretty disappointing.
Yeah.
Some good stuff, but they just fumbled hard, fumbled hard at the end.
Yeah, I mean, we'll be curious to hear you guys' thoughts.
I mean, we are fans of the franchise.
We've been watching all of them back to back.
So there is definitely huge parts of this that we did enjoy.
But obviously the reason why initially coming right out of my mouth,
I was like, this is not good.
It's not because all of the sum of the parts are bad.
It's because of at the end.
And I just think that that is a weird sloppy flip that I'm like,
no, we didn't incorporate it well enough.
I think there was a better way to do it.
But I would give this one like a six, I guess.
I mean, the games, like the games and the writing in the beginning, all that.
It's like the end that made me mad.
I'm just going to go with six, maybe five and a half six.
Because the cinematic shots, the lighting, there was a lot of stuff that added up.
But you guys know my feelings now.
Yeah.
What are you thinking?
I'm thinking I'm sitting at a 5.5.
Yeah?
I mean, it feels around there, right?
It feels around there because there are some good elements in here.
here you know what no no what scratch that oh for the good elements the stuff that i did like i'll
give it a six that's i think we're we're together on that 100% because the games the meeting and
it was new stuff and i was glad we didn't open up on my head clamp again there was it was really
all new inventive games which is interesting to watch they were so close though so close because i'm
like okay you almost fixed it the fact that he was still alive and the fact of these were games played
by john and then you screwed it up by muddling up your continuity and just
man disappointing yeah it was well let's see we didn't regret it was fun and let's see if on the next
one we can get back to it maybe we'll see what they what they do with it because we'll have no idea
but leave a like on this leave us a comment tell us what you guys think whether you like it or not
