Starting point is 00:00:00 Thank you to Hewel for sponsoring this video. More on them in just a bit. I feel in my element. He's loving life. Let's do it. All right, guys. Well, we just watched The Rastric World. Please go ahead. Leave a like on this video. If you enjoy, don't forget to... Ring the bell.
Starting point is 00:00:30 And of course, Massa, thank you to Prepper for editing it now. The highlights, it is not easy getting this shit public. So thank you so much. Yeah. Tara, I'll go to you first. What's the first specific thing that comes to mind that you want to talk about? First thing. The first thing?
Starting point is 00:00:49 Okay. Well, I love it all. You know what? I relate to this because of the animal training because you all know, I train like dolphins and dogs. whatever it's like a thing but it's funny in the beginning of this i wanted to say like when he's clicking them like you see that at sea world but i remember the me not liking it because when you click or you bridge an animal you're supposed to feed them and he was he was a little too click happy
Starting point is 00:01:16 in the beginning of this movie that's my only note the rest of it holy freaking tamale this was a lot of fun and at first i really thought that the cg i was going to to bother me i think that the brontosaurus who was dying was practical and i was happy about that the head part if it wasn't great job on that um yeah i can't i can't talk too much about the relationships i mean i can't get into it later but like i complained already about brice and what's his nuts what's his name chris bratt thanks chris is uh their chemistry because they're like together in this through they're on screen together for most of the time i would have loved it if their chemistry was just flying off the screen i think it would have made it really really
Starting point is 00:02:07 way more fun but it's it's already like what a blast great pacing what this movie did right forget about like the casting or chemistry doesn't matter because what they did right was pace it really well that you don't that those things could really have gotten to me if it was slow and it didn't yeah absolutely right uh yeah i i'm having a hard time to think establishing in my head if it's uh whoa look that catalita crunch sandwich you're advertising on i mdb right now i love catalyta crunch you know what what is it catalyer crunch is like a healthier version of a lot of different snacks and they actually taste really good they do yeah i have like catalator crunch cereal they're usually a high in protein
Starting point is 00:02:57 oh i mean that looks good damn it looks really tasty shit yummy only 100 calories anyway um the this can't can't leave a crunch vanilla cream sandwich seriously guys yeah it's a healthier alternative that actually
Starting point is 00:03:13 taste good they're not sponsored they should sponsor us one of the items that it is something i eat on this diet i've been on this past few months um yeah i i don't i feel like I should say Jurassic Park 2 is the second favorite. I feel like
Starting point is 00:03:30 I should say that because there are scenes and moments in there that I certainly think out like the whole the 2 T-Rex scene in the Lost World is like such a master of a class
Starting point is 00:03:46 of a direction and I don't think any scene in this movie matches that one scene in Jurassic Part 2. You're saying the T-Rex scene. In Jurassic Part 2. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When they're trying to go for the baby. Like, no scene in this movie.
Starting point is 00:03:58 A single scene here matches any of that. Right. But as a whole, I remember, like, Jurassic Part 2, that finale kind of left me a little bit. Like, it really, it pushed it down some points for sure. Like, yeah, I think Jurassic Part 2 is overall a better movie. I think this, though, I would personally, on a very subjective and joyability level, probably put this at the second favorite because I think it really knows what it is
Starting point is 00:04:30 whereas like the finale in Jurassic Bar 2 seem to really conflict with the rest of the movie this movie from beginning to end knows what it is it's a theme park type of adventure it is like a sci-fi futuristic version of Jurassic Park universe and yeah it's like it's a little bit light on actual horror
Starting point is 00:04:51 but they keep the spook they keep like the monster suspense there it is it is a part of the vibe yeah and but it's mainly like a sci-fi futuristic action kaiju type of film and uh yeah it's like the characters are certainly better in Jurassic Part 2 then I don't get an article that I like the character the characters overall I don't know why I'm specifically compared to Jurassic Mart 2 because no movie in this franchise can possibly live up to the first one so like yeah the only thing I really have to do to be like, well, what would it edge out?
Starting point is 00:05:23 Certainly better than Jurassic Bar 3. But yeah, I think it is, I think it's genuinely a super fun movie with an awareness of what they're setting out to do. We just want to make it a really fun time at the theaters. Even though, like, you know, there's some stupid-ass characters in this movie. There are some dumb decisions. No character is fully fleshed out to the degree where they ought to, where they should have been. And the, yeah, I could have used more practical effects, honestly, like, especially after watching the, I could see in the version of like, oh, yeah, the last Jurassic Park movie I saw was many, many, many years ago.
Starting point is 00:06:07 And now I'm back watching this that it wouldn't bother me as much. But after binging the first three and that we're watching this, it definitely stands out that they are so light on practical. I think I can only really recall one moment. and maybe it's a blend and maybe they overblended it with like too much CGI. I doubt it. That Brontosaurus was the only head that I think was practical. Yeah, might have been, which is like kind of disappointing, honestly. Very to me.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Like the indomit, even in Jurassic Part 3, the Spinosaurus, that's what was called right? Yeah. They had practical usage of it. Yeah. And it made those moments scary. Yeah, absolutely. And the Indominus Rex didn't even really, like I like the Indominus Rects. it's such a fun concept to me and I love the plot I love I love the idea of it's so much
Starting point is 00:06:58 but I it's like if there was like a couple of moments where it was practical in the head I think it would have instilled fear because honestly like I yes I've only seen this the one time so I didn't remember too much of it but I could I knew there was a thing called an indominous rax I couldn't for the life of me remember what the hell it looked like oh yeah it's like the spinosaurus I was able to recall something about it. Oh, really? Yeah, I didn't remember. But this, I was like, oh, yeah, I don't really recall. And I think it makes it, like, I get that part of it's like camouflage and blending in, but I think the design of it could have used, if it was practical, the design of it would have really stood out. Yeah, because remember in two, when they used the practical
Starting point is 00:07:44 head of the T-Rex near that trailer, and then she has to open the door. And it's that practical head right there and she has to give over the baby. Yeah. How amazing was that? I was really in that moment. Yeah. And the thing is, in that circle thing, right? We saw the head of the Indominus and the reflection.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Yeah, that's cool. Very cool. But we knew it wasn't practical. We could have revealed like so much more with that head in that, in that circular thing. And I think I would have been more terrified. Sure, sure, yeah. I agree with you, though. The pacing of this is really good.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Because the movie knows what it is, the pacing is, it ramps up well and the idea of actually opening the park and it's smart to let you really live in the park. You know, I thought that was actually a smart idea. And it's a natural progression, I think, for the Jurassic Park franchise because we see in the lot. lost world how this engine company has these corporate people who are trying to still monopolize the dinosaurs in some way right so by the time you get to this time jumping you see how the corporate overlords are so blind to these things and even their lead scientists has become corrupt um the i i think it's a natural plot point to go down oh yeah absolutely i also i just thought while you were talking i was like wait
Starting point is 00:09:20 did Universal Studios were the numbers for Universal Studios going and they went how do we bring the theme park up and then they were like oh if we make a movie that's around the theme park
Starting point is 00:09:32 and like you said it had the same elevators and now what I was going to say near the Jurassic the Jurassic World Ride the whole all the shops the Tiki bar
Starting point is 00:09:43 it all looks like it does in this movie and I had not I didn't really make that full on connection and I'm like what if they were like let's make a movie to make this thing part better um they probably didn't but i just i've that was
Starting point is 00:09:56 in my brain absolutely yeah uh yeah they they uh really drive home that they're animals i like uh i like blue blue is a charming i animal i don't know why owen grady is singling out blue amongst everyone else is is i missed do we miss something there of like why blue is the most special to him he doesn't seem like he really tries to connect with the other ones it's it's like he he clearly favorite he said something about he's that's the alpha or better or something right alpha but some type of beta or i forget what but he he doesn't really seem to have a bond with the other raptors i agree i thought i thought like he knows all of their names and i thought it made complete sense when he says and she's the beta and then they go well who's the alpha it's him
Starting point is 00:10:46 which means they're all betas, right? In a way, but then I thought maybe that's why, because she's like, the baby, I don't know. But no, there was no explanation, which another thing of just like us with Judy Greer and her sister, we could have gotten a little bit there, Judy Greer with the husband and the family, one or two sentences more, just like if we had one or two sentences between him and blue and he's saying, I just can tell by the way that she looks at me. and one time when I fed her a rat,
Starting point is 00:11:18 she knew it wasn't this way, so she knew to kill it quicker. And that got me on her side. Like, just like two sentences, right? Where you're like, that made her my favorite. And it's the same, like I say, that when we are lacking in a relationship in a movie, we do not have to spend 30 minutes in that film
Starting point is 00:11:38 to make that relationship better. It doesn't mean, oh, God, now we have to have a three-hour movie. It could have been as simple as add in a couple of sentences for Judy Greer and the sister and that whole family and them getting divorced and the brothers so that when they have that bonding moment, when they almost are close to death with the aunt that we feel more in that moment when they're reunited with the family, we really feel it that it hits home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:02 That's how this movie has to do. It's an action and venture. It's not trying to get us to cry. But it could have. That's what makes a good. It was like one scene away from. sometimes one scene is all it takes to really finesse a lot. I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:12:19 And I couldn't help it like you slightly rewrite of, okay, if they really made it clear, like they're going through a hard time. They want these kids because as they're going to be separated, since they're going to be divorced, it's really important that they become better brothers because Zach, Nick Robinson, creepy guy who like lusts in a weird and weird thing that give this character up. that he's a bad brother and he's super he's way too distant and it's like they have like check marks in like the outline of it but it doesn't feel like it's really resonating and that way
Starting point is 00:12:57 you watch them bond and grow in their bond and then I think it would have helped if it made it clear that Claire Bryce Dallas Howard was aware of the divorce and that's why you know Karen is more than just like you don't spend time with them I think I think it would have lent more purpose to like they really need family right now like we're going to be a part and they have to have family i think just one scene or a couple more lines in this scene would have added this like weight to it yeah that would have given all of that some actual punch versus we need human characters to fill in because i would compare it to the way people talk about the transformers movies where um they're they're just there to fill in some space when really all we want to do is
Starting point is 00:13:44 the Transformers but unlike those Transformers movies what i think this movie sings really high at is that when it's due most of this movie is just the action adventure side of the film most of that most of it is here and it actually is still very entertaining even with characters that are lackluster where other other movies you feel that because the characters are of so lackluster that it's hard to enjoy because it's weighing the movie down or it's slowing down the pacing like we i've heard that with like some of the monster verse movies those godzilla ones where it's like oh my god just get away from these humans they're making the movie drag this movie doesn't drag even with lackluster characters and usually lackluster characters and big
Starting point is 00:14:38 screen spectacles weighs the enjoyment down of the overall film and this is the unique case where I actually don't feel like it weighed the enjoyment down. In fact, it made it kind of more fun because of like how paper they were. But they were like having, you could fuel intention there. Like with the CEO, Maserani, I liked that he wasn't like a douchebag CEO and he was trying to honor John Hammond. Yeah, he was really trying to do the right thing. And Jake Johnson is his name as the tech guy or whatever, like the original dress bar.
Starting point is 00:15:14 he was a fun comic relief what they were attending for dr henry who was fun i'm not really sure what chris bratt's direction is because it seemed like like stiff and not in the charming stoic way it just felt except for that scene when he's fixing his motorcycle remember and then you said he's kind of smiling a little bit yeah a little bit right well he seemed a little more relaxed and then it went to like oh yeah and then and then he seemed a little bit more like once you said stiff it sort of continued that way. Got more stiff. Yeah
Starting point is 00:15:50 that yes. Um well hello again Hewle H-U-E-L today's video sponsor lately I've been loving talking about Hewle because I've used it as an excuse to give you guys updates on my fitness journey back in January of this year I was 218 pounds. Last time I
Starting point is 00:16:06 weighed myself I'm down to 179 but this time I decided to take a fancy picture close to the mirror good lighting and I did have to flex but I'm making progress. I'm almost at the six-pack. Look at it. Almost at the six-pack. It's almost 40 pounds down, and one of the biggest game changers for me has easily been. I staying consistent with healthy go-to meals, such as hules, black-conditioned, ready to drink. As a matter of fact, I just shot a video with Andrew and Aaron this morning. Both came without having had any breakfast,
Starting point is 00:16:36 and of course they were hungry. First thing they did, they got themselves a hule in the office fridge, baby. Because I bought plenty. it's a complete meal in a bottle man it is tasty it's packed with over 35 grams of protein 27 vitamins of minerals slow release carbohydrates and low sugar plus fiber no prep no cleanup just grab it go shoot a reaction or whatever else you do yeah whether i'm filming working out or frankly too tired to cook which pretty much every day this bottle's been a life safe actually tastes good too my favorites are like the main ones the chocolate and the vanilla but i also really do like their strawberry banana also got iced coffee and when in doubt you could always go with a variety pack if you don't know which one you want and at under five bucks a meal it's helped my routine and my budget and now to be able to provide for the host here heels already sold over 500 million worldwide and if you're looking to eat better stay on track or just stop skipping meals you've got to try this so if you'd like to support the channel and support your body new customers get 15% off plus a free gift at huel dot com slash rejects with code rejects once again huel dot com slash rejects rejects code rejects 15% off and a free gift minimum $75 purchase skip the stress not the nutrition try heal today for complete nutrition bottled yeah it was like so stow there's like stoic and serious are are not something that I am you know I push away uh yeah like it's uh there's something that seems so off about his performance but when you're supposed to make it cool and awesome and
Starting point is 00:18:10 he's like a guy fits his motorcycles and like he's gonna save the day he's got to gun he's going to save the kids and then he's like we need to find indoors follow me it's like the second he said that i was like this should be like a moment that you're like yes when he's when it's like the plan comes together and he's saving them because he's so freaking cool it's like they wanted that for him i think the script is is trying that for him it just didn't it didn't sell it you 100% and I don't know if that's due to the direction that Chris was given or if that just Chris doesn't fully give off that vibe on screen. I don't know. There's a lack of emotional intensity that it wasn't really coming. It was kind of like so one note. Yeah. Which can affect I think
Starting point is 00:19:06 the perspective or takeaway you have of Bryce Dallas Howard. But watching this, I think Bryce Dallas Howard's really good in this movie yeah surprisingly you know I like how she becomes more physically exhausted by the end and yeah she starts off as like a stiff corporate lady and then as she progresses you know she's the wear and tear and the emotionality of her starts to unfold I felt like she actually had some direction and she was understanding of like watching her change throughout the movie yeah and become more likable throughout the movie and maybe you disagree that this is just our point of view I I feel like Bryce Dallas Howard is actually really good in this film. And the main thing I remember people
Starting point is 00:19:50 talking about is her running in heels away from a tear. Oh, really? Oh, God. That's so dumb. Yeah. Take off your shoes. But I think the tone of this movie is like, whereas I feel like the, the, the ridiculousness, the camp and the humor in Jurassic Part 2 and 3 at times felt a little bit at odds because it was really stuck in the shadow of Jurassic Park, this has the opportunity to break away from the shadow, the tone of that because they're giving a whole new look,
Starting point is 00:20:22 a whole new vibe. So when they are doing campy shit like blue attacking with the T-Rex, I buy it. I buy it in this movie. I buy the campiness. I buy the goofiness. I buy the stupid characters like the military plan. I buy into it
Starting point is 00:20:38 because it feels intentional. the cheese of it. It does. It feels like that was part of the theme. Just like when Chris Pratt, you know, they arrive in the Mercedes to a dead stop and he walks towards him and they punches the guy.
Starting point is 00:20:53 And then I think he says like some sort of like funny line kind of like, I don't know. It just seems like it's campy. What I also thought is even when the Moss Ronnie was flying away and he's telling him keep your eyes open to the army guys, he like moves the plane a little. bit and the army, which I guarantee this was directed. If I was an army person in the back of the helicopter, I have gone to war before. I have weapons and all my gear on. If the airplane, the helicopter moves a little bit, I'm not going to go, right? Like, you're just going to go, this is where, I've been to war before, right? So like to me, that when you're saying it's campy,
Starting point is 00:21:37 they're aware of what they're doing, maybe that was the actor's choice. And he's obviously, he's just an actor and he's probably not gone to war but that would not have been my choice but with it i'm sure that it was directed that way that you need to look scared this guy doesn't want to fly a helicopter so it's not like taking every little bit of this movie seriously it's like no we're going to add this in this makes sense but it's not like oh crap yeah i just think the tone of this is the tone tone goes a long way and i think the tone of this allows a lot of lack of development on things to be overridden because the tone of it is we are having fun with it.
Starting point is 00:22:23 That being said, it's like that's, I think that's a problem. I'm a problem with Chris Pratt. He doesn't look like he's having fun, you know? I don't need like some type of dramatic performance even. So I'm like ramp up your emotional intensity or look like you're having some fun because right now you're just like, like you look like you're taking yourself so serious. I know, because remember the one time he finally smiled when he was on the motorcycle at Blue? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:46 That was when you really felt like maybe we knew who he was as a trainer, as a person, as a connection to these animals. They are not assets to him. Yeah. Right? That was the time where we felt like he was coming alive, but it came at the very end. It seemed like he didn't enjoy, like it looks like he's not enjoying filming this movie. I know. I wonder, I wonder if maybe he didn't.
Starting point is 00:23:07 I don't know. You know? It didn't seem like Because Chris Brad is normally I think Chris Brad is great He's a charming guy Yeah yeah yeah yeah That's why I think it might be a direction thing
Starting point is 00:23:17 Yeah Because beyond like Beyond Guardians of the Galaxy He's done so many other movies And anytime I see him in something I think he's a really fun actor Or really he's done even more He's done like some war movies
Starting point is 00:23:28 Like Zero Guard 30 Or Moneyball Like he can do drama So yeah I think he's a really enjoyable actor And then there's something here that like really struck me as odd. Yeah. And I also think, you know, it's not going to be fun if you, if you are showing up
Starting point is 00:23:44 and Bryce Dallas, you know, she's a phenomenal actress as well. But if you don't have that chemistry, you are also not going to feel it in your lines. But it's not like that it was only lacking when he's talking to her. That's absolutely not the case. It just, it wasn't like flying off the screen. Like we really wanted it to. Like when you see Sam Neal and Laura Dern, right? and even welcome to Jurassic Park like him you just it flies off the screen at you you just really feel it
Starting point is 00:24:14 and with him I get he's got a lot to compete with but it's not like you're being thrown into like this is the old Jurassic Park we've we've engaged an entire new script which is a great idea for the theme park we have a lot of Easter eggs in here which were really fun to see um so at the same time it's like you still you have that character the lead one should still be like we get it yeah that's him he belongs here oh for sure but it wasn't like that 100% nah but you know you show up for the monster mayhem and i think the escalation was well plotted of how it breaks out yeah and then the the more kills it ramps up the i love how adaptable it is how no matter what they throw it it's like oh shit it it can do this now
Starting point is 00:25:03 we can do this now like it's so crazy yeah that it even like becomes the alpha of the raptors like shit like that it's like i think the escalation and then knowing how to have fun with the east i think the easter eggs that are like the way they treat them they're not like clever they're just like we're doing this for fun yeah they're just there they're fun the the t-recks showing up at the end with the flare oh yeah service the audience and and uh i I think the buildup of whatever that whale dinosaur is. Yeah. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:25:39 That's so cool. I don't know what it is. It's the shamu of Jurassic World. When it kills the Indominious Rex. Oh, isn't that so cool? Brilliant payoff. So good. They set it up well to do that.
Starting point is 00:25:52 They did. They set that up. Yeah. Where it's very believable that that would, that's looking for prey. And that would know when to, let's get to it. Not a cool, not a convenience. And out of all the dinosaurs. they showed in the movie that is the one that you know could take it on absolutely yeah so i think
Starting point is 00:26:09 they did a really good job but like one scene here another scene here and now the third scene yeah i think they did a really good job but the way they closed it is that old school t-rex and they did that three six and i said come on let's hear it mahah still king of the world and that gave me goosebumps and i love that that that's my favorite you want to see what uh you want to see what uh you want to see what It got on Rotten Tomatoes. Oh, okay, let me guess. So I'm going to guess audience is, I'm going to say that audience is 89 and critics is 77. Wow.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Okay, I'm going to guess like 65 for critics. Yeah, I gave it high. I don't know why. I'll guess it 85 for audience. Okay. Let's go. Oh, wow. It's actually a lot higher than I thought for critics.
Starting point is 00:27:03 I was good. I was close. 72% for critics is not, that's pretty good. That's very good. Well, that's why I said, I think I said 77 because I was like, or yeah. 78 out of 100,000 people. That's really good. That's very good.
Starting point is 00:27:20 100,000 plus. Because it's a fun one. Oh, man, it's a blast of a film. And we're not here to, I mean, not saying we, we are here to do what we're doing. But when regular, regular folks go to the movies, they're not. thinking about script structure or how this character could have been better built up and stuff like that maybe they are they're going to um feel it while they're watching the movie it's our responsibility to kind of talk about it that that's why i think it's got a high rating because of how
Starting point is 00:27:49 people feel sure when they when they're in this movie and that fight at the end and then t rex is still like bra that is the feeling what do you get when you walk out of that movie theater you're freaking eating your popcorn all you hear is like it's goosebumps I heard that T-Rex. Hell yeah. It's a rock and roll adventure, baby. Yeah. Let me look at the Lost World.
