Those accusations in the comment, I'm like, where's my check? I haven't gotten it yet. Should we get down to lemonadeing? We should do it. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Lemonade, Matthew. All right, another DECOM, another effing winner, man. I want to do a lot more now. That was just so, I know. It makes me want to watch only decoms. Their scripts are so tight. Like, they have this formula down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:48 And they know how to make you feel. They know how to make you relate. The characters, there's somebody to connect for everybody. Oh, yeah. Let's watch a Disney Channel movie. remember making the little yeah oh man all right I want to get your thoughts

Starting point is 00:02:21 and if there's a specific movie that you think that we should be covering if it's a decom or otherwise then let us know in the comments we look at the comments we want to know from you guys So share there. All right, coming to you first, my dude. Yeah. I know that we both enjoyed this thoroughly.
Starting point is 00:02:35 But give me your thoughts on the movie. Yeah, like I said, I was in a very relaxing mood before we started. I'm still in a very relaxing state of mind, but I'm also in a just positive and happy state of mind, too, just from that experience. I love Disney films and also Disney musicals. They're fun. And I like that this film really took its, I mean, it was very tightly paced. it we breezed through it didn't even feel like an hour in 40 45 minutes however long it was it really went by quickly having said all that i like that the film did take its time really you know with a little bit of nonlinear
Starting point is 00:03:11 storytelling in terms of the beginning we see that they we know that they become big and then let's go into the flashback of how we got to this moment so i like that they established that um and then seeing yeah and then seeing the contrast of you know we're uh really getting to know all these characters in a really quick amount of time but also at the same point like within a few minutes we know who these characters are but also still at the same time we really take our time really spending time with with each character getting to really know them what their issues are and then what type of arcs that we need to work through throughout the film I can't believe how many characters they were able to introduce to us not just with the our band but with the enemies of our band
Starting point is 00:03:53 with the parents of our band with the grandparents of our band I mean that they're There's a lot of characters in this. Yeah, for sure. And I think another thing I appreciate, we, we touched up on it while we were, you know, reacting. But I like that the film wasn't always predictable. There were, you know, things that subverted our expectations, specifically with the boyfriend thing. And I like that, that she wasn't pressured into doing something that, you know, being in a relationship. She, you know, she didn't feel an attraction to him.
Starting point is 00:04:20 She felt like he was a really good friend and a confidant and a band member. And she didn't want to jeopardize that. and something she didn't feel, you know, more than she was comfortable saying in terms of this is just my friend. Or for whatever reason. Yeah, of course. But point being is I think we both thought there was going to be something more there. And also I like to, like I really thought, you know, with the Charlie, I think his name was. And I didn't expect him to become part of the band and then for them to get back together.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I liked all that. But actions speak louder than world. Yeah, for sure. Jump on stage. It's like, okay, he's putting his money where his mouth is. Yeah, exactly. And when he jumped, like you said, that was a very big moment. And also, too, he was actually listening to her and respecting her and attending to her feelings.
Starting point is 00:05:01 And I think that's what, you know, whether you're a boyfriend or a significant other or a friend, like, that's what you do in any type of relationship. So I appreciate that. And I liked his arc, too, from where he started, like, just being that cocky, arrogant, not as much as Ray. Like, that guy was just an absolute douchebag. You know, I wouldn't put him up to the level of that, but just like everything, he was very selfish, you know, in the very. in the beginning. It's okay for you to be in a band, but my band as my backup. Yeah, yeah, for sure. And I like that throughout the film. He learned to become a lot more selfless, so, and more attentive to her needs as well. So I like that. I appreciated that.
Starting point is 00:05:38 I got more to say, but what are you, how are you feeling first of all? I think that I'm just really excited that there was so much to this movie. And I think that the thing that resonated with me the most is perspective. I remember it just being so, it's so difficult because somebody always has it worse and it's not a competition but you know like when I used to have so many issues I was quite a little bit of a rebel kid and I used to have so many issues growing up with my parents and then when my mom got sick when my friends would complain about issues with their parents that was really difficult like that that moment when she says to him like you have a dad who loves you and you have a stepmom who's trying to be your mom what what gives but that's not his world You know, this is a lot about perspective and coming out of your world, the same thing with the boyfriend when he's like, you could be in my band. You're not looking at somebody else's situation or circumstances of them as an individual.
Starting point is 00:06:34 That doesn't mean not everybody could have problems, but, you know, when I would come, I would be upset or complain about my circumstances when my mom was sick, there would be people who already had lost their parent. And then when I lost my parent, there are people who have lost two parents, you know? So it was just like, there's always somebody. And I'm not saying that that doesn't mean that you can't ever be sad or angry or any of those. things no matter what the circumstances are of course you are because it's your life and your perspective but this did a really good job of showing that just like you know sometimes we do take certain things for granted and we put on our blinders and we don't realize how much worse things could be and how lucky we really are all of us have that every single one of us at times so I thought that
Starting point is 00:07:13 that was really cool and it did make me this movie did make me feel grateful which I love movies that you kind of walk out and you feel like oh yeah this is nice and the power of friendship is so important and people who do show up for you and are there for you um so yeah i i definitely that it touched me for yeah no this film was actually really touching and i've said this before and i'll continue to say it i know i get sensitive and i cry a lot on the channel but it's like a movie's got to actually make me feel that way like i'm not just going to cry to cry i can't just magically make up i mean i could but it's not going to be genuine and i'm not going to do that here like it a movie's really but you could you mean just cry on the spot it would be
Starting point is 00:07:53 hard it would look like i feel like people could see through that like when i cry on the channel it's i promise you it is totally genuine like the movie the movie is making me feel like do people in the comments question that it's so weird i've had i mean most most of it is positive most of you are awesome but i have had people just say like andrew just cries through anything um which is fine i mean everyone's got entitled it's entitled to their opinion that's fine um but uh yeah this movie did really like the moment where you know her her cat i mean that already made me said but the The fact that her band members, because, again, you just really felt that bond in unity between them, like, that they needed to be there for her and they were. And that is a very cathartic moment.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And also, too, I want to say, I'm not always, again, there's times in films where I think narration is absolutely needed and should be there. And then there's times where I think, like, it's not needed. It's kind of felt where the writers don't trust the audience. Right. And the device, it sometimes pulls you out because it's like, I saw that. Why did you tell me that? Exactly. And in regards to this film, I thought they used it in such an interesting and smart way.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Like, we didn't see that coming in. Yeah, I did not. And like the fact that it was narration to be used like, yeah, for exposition, exposition, but it was like, no, it was what she was writing to her dad in a letter. And it was an arc at the same point because she didn't know how to express or feel like she could talk to her dad because that he went to jail. I'm like, what a, what a brilliant way to use narration. I'm like, I mean, again, just off the top of my head,
Starting point is 00:09:22 I can't think of a way that I've seen narration used in such a manner to be used as an arc. I also love that they didn't share with us why he went to jail. They kept it pretty loose just saying, you know, like after my mom died, he made some bad choices. And I thought that that was an interesting way to explain it. That was really cool. I want to get your thoughts on the specifics of the lemonade. Because at the beginning, we were like,
Starting point is 00:09:46 is this supernatural? And then by the end, they also. also did something that we didn't expect, which was introduced us to the Lemonade Man himself. Yeah, both of all people at the wedding. So what did you think about the usage of lemonade in this? Did you think that it was like that you were hoping for more? Did you like the way that they incorporated it? No, I was, I mean, if they would have gone, I think either way would have worked for me.
Starting point is 00:10:09 If they would have gone the supernatural way, I think if they would have gone the supernatural way, it kind of would have been cool with it. It would have been fine. But I think it would have taken a little bit away from like, you know, that it is within them and that they had this talent in general. I mean, because she was, Mo was a classically trained, you know, violinist
Starting point is 00:10:27 or cellist, whatever she was. And then you had what was the drummers. Yeah. He was, he was so into that and he was into playing. I do want to look them up. Yeah, he was, they were all natural in what they were doing. So I think it would have taken a little bit away if you had that supernatural
Starting point is 00:10:43 feel to it. So I'm glad that they, because I know in a lot of Disney films are just a lot of films that you and I grew up with, they did lot of that whether, which I didn't mind, obviously, in some of the other ones, like you had Rookie of the Year where they were, I mean, he broke his arm, so I wouldn't say that's supernatural, but then you had movies like Angels in the Outfield or like Mike, stuff like that. That's all supernatural, which again, those movies are great. I love them. But, you know, is, is it them doing is natural stuff happening? No. And so, but I do like the way it was incorporated. And I like that
Starting point is 00:11:13 they used it for, again, I think it fit with Stella's character because she was very rebellious in her own right and she was like wanted you know which that shirt you know question authority i think it said and that was just a real big theme on on the film like you know when you have a voice speak up for yourself if you know if something feels off and feels wrong and i feel like you know the lemonade was like kind of like a deterrent on the whole turbo blast thing like hey like everything is going towards the athletics everything else in the school is being like uh scoffed on and and not paid attention to and you could even see the teacher's faces on the faculty when like everything was going towards that it's like uh you know there's other parts of the school yeah yeah yeah well our main
Starting point is 00:11:55 our main teacher uh was like hello yeah yeah but you could even there was even a shot i don't know if you caught it i actually saw it when they were in the auditorium for the first time where stella like this is before the band formed and all the detention all that she like was standing up and speaking her mind about with the question of the authority you could see some faculty members like just being so upset over the turbo blast or whatever in the gym in the gym yeah at the beginning um so but i thought that was good like uh you know just visual narration from just like we don't even think we saw these teachers anymore throughout the rest of film but just seeing like how upset the other faculty was so i thought it was a good way of just again using using uh something
Starting point is 00:12:35 as uh power of belief but also something as like hey let your voices be heard so i i i like that i'm totally with you on everything i want to highlight some of the cast right now and just see kind of where we know some of them from. So the main girl, the blonde girl, her name is Bridget Mendler. And I guess that she was, she's considered a former Disney Channel star who became an entrepreneur. Oh, good for her. Wow. Who knows if these are quick facts.
Starting point is 00:13:00 But this is, it lists her education as MIT, Harvard, Harvard Law School, and USC. She's a songwriter, business executive record producer and entrepreneur. She has 1.8 million followers on Instagram. Damn. And I'm like, I need to look this girl up and know what she ended up doing after this. Hopefully she sees our reaction and enjoys it. I mean, we both thought that she was unbelievably. She was everybody in this I like.
Starting point is 00:13:28 The redhead guy when is Adam Hicks. Let's see what he's gone on to do. It looks like he is an actor and a rapper, which we did get to hear a little bit of that. he did a movie before this How to Eat Fried Worms When did this movie come out again? 2011 Okay we said
Starting point is 00:13:48 2013 so we were all right to Then I said 2009 Then you changed it when you saw their phones Yeah Then you said 29, 2010 Because then we had Blackberries and iPhones But you know
Starting point is 00:13:58 That's fine Makes sense still Okay then the Girl who was like That put the band together Stella right Haley Kiyoko She
Starting point is 00:14:10 Wow it's so crazy she's like obviously they've all grown up but I wouldn't even have known that was her yeah I would not either yeah she she was an insidious chapter three jam in the holograms oh gem in the holograms okay yep she's done a lot of television and stuff too Naomi Scott, we obviously know what ended up happening with. Jasmine, Pink Ranger, and what is, Mile 2, I think? Yeah, yeah, I mean, she's... And many other, I'm sure she's... Charlie Angel, Charlie's Angels. Oh, she was in the new one?
Starting point is 00:14:41 Yeah. Blake Michael is who played Charlie. Okay. And he also looks extremely different now. I'm looking... Oh, wow. Hopefully, maybe... I mean, I can tell now, but he definitely looks a lot older.
Starting point is 00:14:55 He's also stayed acting. Anything of note? It looks like he stopped in 2019 or hasn't done anything since. Then he did six episodes voice actor for Voltron Legendary Defender. A bunch of TV stuff. Okay. Listen, Joey. And yeah, this was directed by Patricia Riggin.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Let's see if she did any other decoms. Usually they kind of stay in the same family. No, I don't see any other decoms on her. she did do two episodes of dope sick that's very different about an episode of Proven Innocent and three episodes of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
Starting point is 00:15:35 and yeah this was her TV movie that she did she did a heck of a TV movie Was there a second one of these or is this a one off? That's a good question What would be called? Lemonade mouth too?
Starting point is 00:15:47 Yeah well if you just type in lemonade mouth then we would I don't think a second one came out No I don't see one And we would have seen it at the end, right? Yeah. Oh.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Well, you know what? If it's just a one-off, it was a good one-off. Because I thought maybe they were saving that romance for later, but it doesn't look like there was a lemonade mouth, too. You never know in the future could there possibly be. Yeah, we wanted to see what happened to Ray. Do you want to hear that solo band? Let's see if there's any interesting trivia about this.
Starting point is 00:16:19 This isn't usually the kind of movie that has... I'm sure there's still some cool stuff in there for this. Um, Adam Hicks wrote the rap part of Determinate, which, you know, if he's a rapper, yep. Yeah. In the beginning of the film, all the characters except for Mo are seen wearing some aspect of orange or purple. Mo is wearing blue, which matches her boyfriend. As the film progresses, Mo gradually changes to purple and orange clothing. Uh, it symbolizes how through, although orange and purple are opposites, they complement each other to form the perfect balance.
Starting point is 00:16:49 The director uses this tactic to display the same idea with the band. I never would have noticed that. Oh, whoa. Naomi Scott and Nick Rue dated in real life and in the movie. That's who plays Scott. Wait, so. Mo and Scott in the movie dated in real life. No, no, no, I know Naomi Scott, but which one is Scott?
Starting point is 00:17:08 I just said Nick Rue, Scott dated in the movie and in real life. So the one who ended up joining the band at the end, the one she was dating in the movie? Or is that? Yeah, the guy she dated in the movie. Oh, because for some reason I thought his name was Charlie. So that Charlie was the drummer. He was the drummer, right? Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:17:24 No, no, no, you're probably right. Let me look. You're probably right. Let me go, look. You're right. I don't know, actually. Let's see. Charlie was the drummer.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Okay, okay. I just got the names mixed up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they dated in real life and just said for a few years or something. It didn't. You're making things up. I'm making things up. You're making things up.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Okay. Made it up. Just dated in real life and in the movie. Oh, cool. I'm Haley Kiyoko and Bridget Mendler, both played recurring characters and Wizards of Waverly place oh we got to look up uh charlie's brother see if because you said that might been a soccer character in a disney movie right i don't know i was just theorizing just because like the way that they got shot to the car it seemed like we were supposed to like know who he was
Starting point is 00:18:07 right um haley kioko just uh had to get her hair cut six different times before it was just right for the character that's wild like michael who played charley was only 14 years old when filming the movie and 15 years release that's wild um principal Brennigan's comment that he used to be a rebel as a nod to Christopher McDonald's role in Greece too as a T-bird. Oh, right. I didn't see Greece, too. I saw Greece one like years, but that's right.
Starting point is 00:18:33 He was in Greece, too, though. I remember him on the cover. Both Olivia and Stella are left-handed, but Olivia plays guitar right-handed. Stella just moved from Rhode Island where the source novel was set. I didn't know this. There was a source novel. I didn't know this existed. That's one thing I love about this challenge, but like, I know.
Starting point is 00:18:51 I get, not only you get to see movies I've never seen. I get to see movies I've never heard of. Wait, you're going to like this one. The pizzeria set has been used in many other productions. Dante's Pizza, yeah. You want to guess? No, you want me to tell you? Go ahead and tell me.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Schindler's List. What? Django Unchained. What? Oh, the Django and Chained one I could see when they were in. Digimon, the movie. Okay, I'd never saw Digimon. But the Django Unchained one, I could see.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Like, when they were in the bar and, like, they had that tense moment. Wow. I could see that one. God, that's the same bar. That's mind-blown. Schindler's list, I haven't. I've watched that movie once when I was like 14 or 15. I'm never watching it again.
Starting point is 00:19:31 I refuse. It's a tough watch. It's a great movie, but it's a tough watch. The scenes at Madison Square Garden were not actually filmed there. That I figured. Haley Kiko revealed that they actually filmed at an arena in New Mexico. And B-roll footage of the real venue was edited in later. That makes perfect sense.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Cool. And that's some of the facts. Cool. Some of the trivia about it. Damn. Did you have a favorite song? Yeah. So hard if you're looking at them.
Starting point is 00:19:59 You know what? I would have to go with the song when she was really sad about her cat. And then they came up with that song in the moment. Then we hear it later on too. That's my favorite too. Yeah, I think just because of, I mean, the lyrics were beautiful, but also just because expressing how they were feeling in the moment and just justified the lyrics too. and I just thought it was just a beautiful song in general and just
Starting point is 00:20:23 it made me cry so I just felt so I loved all the songs but that one really touched me I think the most and it was just I'm with you yeah did you have a number one favorite character ooh that's a great question uh mine changed throughout the movie man I really like if I had I loved all them together they were so by I forgot to mention their chemistry and their interactions so so damn good because they are so polar opposite. Yeah, the boyfriend, I was like, what did I recognize?
Starting point is 00:20:53 I probably would have picked, I probably picked the lead singer girl. I think I liked her the best. If I had to pick one, because I liked them all so much, I would probably pick her. Oh, me, the boyfriend who you thought his name was Charlie, but was Scott, that guy, he, because I kept being like, do we recognize him from something? Oh, no, I thought this was saying. The one who joined the band. The one, yeah, who joined at the end.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Yeah. I thought he was in Jackals, the show. But no, this is Jackals, the movie in 2017. No, I don't know where I recognize him from. An episode of Pretty Little Liars, two episodes of Wivers are a way or the place. So a lot of Wizards are Where they placed. He's an episode of Sweet Life of Zach and Cody. They all kind of stay in the fam.
Starting point is 00:21:36 All right, guys, well, that is it for Lemonade Mouth. Again, let us know if there's another decomm you want us to cover or anything else. We're the Jew Jux. And we'll see you guys next time. Later, Rejects. Thank you.
