Back to another Friday, Real Rejects podcast episode. Thank you guys who are joining us every single week. We're sending a lot of you returning faces. And today is a pre-tapen out of live stream because we have stuff going on on this Friday. But we want to make sure we got a good one out to you guys. Put out a community post on what y'all want us to talk about. And I'm not going to make the headline a bunch of celebrities who died. But we will touch on that today.

But there's other things that we definitely that you guys brought up. I'm like, yeah, we should talk about that. I have strong feelings about this one. What do you got? And I'm going to preface this with also saying, this is the most excited. I think Koi and I are for Doomsday right now. Yeah. Because we just watched Infinity War.

Like 10 minutes ago. Like, yeah, we just finished like 10 to 15 minutes ago. And the end game encore thing, there's something about it. Then I'm like, this is the little statements kind of disrupt me the wrong way. So I'm excited to talk about that. Yeah. Freshly going into end game. I'd like to talk about it in game.

And Ridley Scott, it looks like that is the sequel that we're going to get for Alien. and maybe talk about something else, but we'll see how it goes. We're a little short on time today. I'm going to try to. I got, I'm supposed to see a movie, but it's not as big of a deal as this. It's just I was supposed to do it for work. So I'm trying to get out of it. No, Coy.

But if you want to start sad, we can. I mean, that was the thing that people kept saying that they seem the most of our audience seemed the most affected by that. That was the thing that kept getting brought up. Well, there has been a lot of people who have passed away recently. We got Peter, at the time of filming this, Peter Colin. I think it was this today? Today?

Yeah, and Dolly Parton earlier this week, Tim Curry, just yesterday, Hayden Paneteer as well. Way too young. My God. Yeah. So, yeah, a lot of legends have passed away. And the Hayden Panetteer one, that's the one that really, that was the shocker one. Yeah, R.H. You just had a book come out and stuff.

Yeah. So that was a really heartbreaking one. But it does feel like these days that when icons pass away that seems to come out of flood. whenever it does happen. I mean, any of these, the people that really affected you the most? You know, it's interesting about the flood element is I was thinking about how it always feels like a devastating wave. And then I was thinking about how, you know, people dying every day. It's interesting the impact certain people make that cause it to feel like, oh, my God, it's like a deluge of so much sadness and like so much impact.

But something about this one, like the Dolly Parton and Tim Curry being the same day and they're like born the same. same year and like that just it's so odd. I mean all the home alone two elements like all those things are so interesting but I think for me like dolly pardon was one of those people growing up that always seemed like everyone liked her like dolly pardon like dolly would was a place my family went on like little vacations there's like a theme park for dolly and like every type of person liked dolly pardon you know she was a country singer so she appealed the certain demographics but she was like a philanthropist lover of all people appealing to other demographics. Like she's a uniquely beloved person that I don't often hear anyone have a bad thing to say about.

And I don't know that that's not common with fame because usually you get famous by being specific. And usually when you're specific, people hate that. Some people hate whatever that is. So I think that was really an impactful thing to see, you know, if you say anything bad about Dali, and as she passes, you're getting attacked from everyone. And usually when someone passes, there are people that are like, fine. Yeah. So I don't know.

This one just hit different for me personally. With her, what's fascinating, and I feel like with all of them, and I feel like it ought to be this way, is usually, especially when it's more than seniority time, a celebration of life. Yeah. Kind of happens. That's what I feel like Tim Curry. Like that's interesting, but please. Well, I feel that way with Tim Curry. I think Dolly Parton, especially, like, I, I mean, I'm not going to post.

was like I'm a big Dolly pardon and, you know, fan in terms of like, I know all their songs or something like that. But it was cool to see, like, even like Eminem comes out. Yeah. And it was like putting out a statement of like something that she said to him. I think it's the only time Donald Trump and Eminem are going to agree on anything. It's crazy. It's crazy.

And Tim Curry, I watched that 1990 it movie quite a bit. Have you seen that one? In the 90s. That was a scary as hell movie, you know, Rocky Horror Picture show. I was in. My wife loves that. Oh, yeah. you participated four years in the other production yeah and um yeah you brought home alone too i remember

charl these angels and stuff but he was a hell of like a character actor personality a lot you brought clue as well and peter cullen obviously optimist prime is the one that people really go to uh but the one that was really affected with me he got a coy spoilers for a show you're not watching oh no i don't seem like you care to watch okay and spoilers for invincible if you guys haven't seen the last season, but he played a character named Thadus. I think it's... My mind's saying it's Thaddeus,

but it's spelled here Thetus. I'm not sure. Anyway, he gets a crazy death, and he was a very important Viltramite character who changes sides to more sort of benevolent side, but very impactful. And it's cool that as someone

who was such an iconic voice actor, got to have like one last, really cool voice actor. I don't know if this is like very last, but it's a big role. And a huge... animated show. So it's really cool that he got to have that. But Hayden and Paneteer, that was the life that was taken way too young. Because obviously, like, we talk a lot about comic book

movies and stuff like that. And there's rarely, rarely is there a superhero property that comes out that is not based on a comic book that does well. And heroes, I think, really paved away in a specific way to get a lot of what we have today. Yeah. And to be a fresh IP and to have it sing like it did and bring a lot of like the audience that love genre stuff into the mainstream. Like, that show changed a lot of people's careers and lives. Yeah. I also like Tim Curry is flowers in that. His last tweet,

I think is 80 LMFAO. And I think that's really beautiful. Like I think there's something nice about the fact that Tim Curry was like until the end kind of counterculture and trying to find humor and everything. Because you know, the health conditions and he was going to cons like in the like the wheelchair and everything. And I think it's really beautiful if you can live life up till the end. your terms like I mean I don't know what the hell things were but I I loved to see that his last

tweet was literally like kind of irreverent and and taking the piss you know because that's always how I saw his humor and his like lifestyle to me it's Muppets treasure island even over fucking home alone or uh rocky horror like I know everyone's Rocky R I was in Rocky R but he's the only one that ever succeeded at being a Muppet like everyone else that does Muppet movies tries to be the one human in a movie of Muppets Tim Curry was like I'm gonna be a Muppet amongst Muppet. and it like elevates the movie. I think it's, I personally,

it's my favorite Muppet movie is Muppets Treasure Island. And that's because of the one human. And he's just a force of nature in that. So I, yeah, we're definitely missing like a very specific blend of drama and funny and weird. And,

you know, Tim Curry was so himself. So was Dolly Parton. And I think that's really unique to, you know, have 80 years of being so yourself. Well, when we were talking about that,

that length, because we talked up as seniority, Hayden Pan of Tears, someone that we kind of grew up with in specific times. Remember the Titans? She was a little girl. Remember the Titans? And she was amazing in that movie. And I watched the movie quite a few times when I was a child.

And then, of course, Heroes is more like our teenage years. And then, of course, getting into Scream Four is Kirby when we're in our adult years. Going off a nostalgia film that a lot of us grew up with, she's managed to still, even though she passed away at too young of an age, she still managed to create quite a legacy for herself that I feel like should not go overlooked. I agree. And I think all the deaths being at once, I mean, I don't know if it's for anyone else watching, but that's for me been a very, oh shit, I got to do stuff because like I'm turning 38 in two weeks and that's half of 80. And, you know, people are like midlife crisis in your 50s. Like, nah, I'm half dead now if I live the average amount. I'd like to live in above average amount of time. But like statistically it's 76, 77 in America because we don't take care of ourselves. So I'm literally turning half my life expectancy in two weeks. So it's. It's really been hit me of like, okay, like Hayden Penitierre was my age. Like she was a little younger. And, you know, you never know when your fucking tickets getting ripped.

That is true. Shit. Like it's now. Sometimes it does get the little checkbox of, yeah, I got to live my life, don't I? This is the first birthday where I feel like I'm too old to die young. Like if I read an obituary and the guy was 38, I'd be like, unfortunate. Certainly sad. But I wouldn't be like, he was so young.

I'd be like, like, I'm, I'm an age. I'm not too old to die young anymore. And that seems crazy because I'm middle age. And that's crazy. Well, I hope you get to live for a longer, Coy. Me too. It made me realize, like, with Hayden and Pinantierre. Like, I don't know what happened, but, like, it's a very tragic, like, she is up here.

And, like, that's crazy to feel, you know? Like, it's been, and I think it's just the cascade of them. Like, two people in their 80s is, like, they left such an impact. And Peter Cullen, I think was 85. like these are tight titans of decades and then like she's so young yeah so I'm not yeah

And there are people who, when they talk about it on their podcast or whatever, I feel like they're so good at transitioning. And I'm always like, this is weird. You just started so heavy. I was like, oh, wow. How do we just like turn the wheel back this way? So Avengers Endgame, a work of fiction being re-released. Avengers Endgame Encore.

So here. Here's the DeLio, people. Let me try to get some of the actual quotes up here while I remember what Joe, I believe it was Joe Russo. It's, it is the Avengers Endgame encore. Is it for sure getting the saturation boost, the color boost first off? I've seen so many posts about it.

Okay. And the trailer got released and it looks punchy. Okay. Well, apparently they're adding four extra minutes to this movie to help it connect to Avengers Doomsday. Yeah. And Rousseau's are saying it is required viewing to watch this. Now, I love Avengers anger.

I think that's a great movie. One of my favorite theater experiences of all time. Yeah. It's a magical film. And there was something about specifically saying this that I was trying to question, like, what is it about this is kind of rubbing me the wrong way? It felt a little bit like, I'm fine with, like, extra footage. you're like, sure, whatever, whatever you got to do.

I don't like the idea that they had to shoot extra footage in order to make something feel connected. It feels less seamless now. It feels less smooth. It feels like they're forcing a connection. It feels like patchwork. Yeah. Versus like messing with the purity of the experience of having endgame.

Like part of what I thought Rousseau might be doing is finding a way to make it somehow trick us into thinking, this feels like a true culmination of after endgame, everything that's happened. And instead they have to like go back, add stuff. And it's kind of a crazy expectation to be like, we hope everyone watches this four extra minutes. I will definitely be online at some point where you don't have to actually watch the whole movie.

But it'll definitely be online. I hope everyone watches this four minutes that I'm sure Avengers Doomsday will probably be able to explain this four minutes. So part of it feels like like a marketing line to say. Sure. But if it is truly required, like imagine you don't watch this four minutes. Right. And then you go into this movie and you're like, I couldn't understand this with some shit went down.

Because of four minutes of a film I already seen it. Yeah, and I thought I didn't need to rewatch this movie. But apparently you do need to like, because most people won't have time to rewatch Avengers. Most people won't make the time to rewatch Avengers Endgame. Yeah. Like there'll be people like us who are undoubtedly going to. We have to for the channel.

So we're undoubtedly will. But there is something here that does feel a little cheap and forced about that. if that is truly the case, but color saturation, color bump, that does look cool. I'm more excited for that element more than the four minutes. A question,

is it about having to watch encore or endgame, like rewatching endgame? Did he specifically say you have to- They're talking about end game encore. So I missed the quote because I, when I heard about it anecdotally, thought it was just like, you need to have seen end game.

And like it was retroactively adding importance to the end game experience going into Doomsday. I didn't realize it was like, these four minutes will change cinema. that actually undermines a bit for me because I thought that, you know, the magic trick of Dr. Strange's many realities and some of the elements of time and, you know, my theory about doom going after everyone that should have died, I think what they should do is comics and movies are different. And in comics, people come back to life all the time. And it's like kind of a rote thing. And we just accept it, unfortunately.

there was a joke in the 90s that everyone stays dead except Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacey, and Bucky. Shit. Like everyone has come back. And now it's not even those characters are sacrosanct. So I was hoping that the movies would play with that and make it so like if the characters were meant to die, Doom is hunting them down because they're causing incursions. Something to the effect of like reality is wrong because you're not supposed to be on this planet. The butterfly effect to the scale of a human life, right?

because in the trailer, we see the child of Steve Rogers. He would never have had that child if he hadn't played with time. We see Eternity's child that was given to Thor and how that is not, like, accurate to, like, maybe his destiny. There's so many characters that shouldn't be alive. I assumed they were going to do something about that in order to make it so the films are essential, but they could also plant seeds using other films. Like, it'd be cool if they uncommicked it. So, like, death mattered.

And it'd be ironic if the person playing, one of those, the villain that represents that is played by another actor. Again, don't take off his fucking mask. But that would be a way to make Doom imposing and intense and make the series make sense. But if there's something they have to add in endgame,

I assume that's not the case. Because those scenes would already be planted if it was like that story. I feel like it still could work. Maybe, I imagine there's a bit of hyperbole here. There's a sale. There's no marketing. There's no way that four minutes

has to be that much of a life changer. That should just feel like a cool bonus for people who end up watching this movie. It shouldn't feel like a necessity to watch this thing in order to experience this. Remember like, I think it was like some of those alien movies that Prometheus or whatever that Ridley Scott was

doing and then they would do like these little short films that would go on the internet like James Franco's character and Alien Covenant. And you wouldn't be like, I don't know what the hell is James Franco guys doing here. Oh, I got to watch some fucking thing on the Earth to watch. I don't want that with Doomsday. And yeah, to me, I think the excitement would be keeping the integrity of the purity of having that experience and not feeling like there's something that kind of robs the purity of it to me in a way of having to add something on as a necessity and not just a bonus experience.

I like recontextualizing. Sure. I like watching, I like the idea of watching Doomsday and then being like, whoa, now when I watch Endgame, it re contextualizes my experience. I mean, I wanted to go back. Like we just were. We've gone on a 20 film journey so far, recontextualized by the most recent film. Yeah. That's different than like shoe horning.

Yes, definitely. And also like I don't know why. If there's four minutes of new stuff, why don't they also added all the deleted scenes we've all wanted to see? Like, why isn't this like a 20 minute longer movie? If there's four minutes of pure doomsday stuff, what about the kneeling scene with Tony Stark? What about the scene in the soul plane with him and his daughter? What about like there's so many scenes? What about the Hulk scene they re-released that looked like garbage?

Fix it. Put it out right. Like there's so many, you could make a 20 minute longer cut. Yeah. And add the four minutes. Then I'm like, hey, that's a re-release. But this feels like Spider-Man's on their tail and they're like, we want to be number two again. Like, you know what I mean?

Like this definitely feels a little more cash grabby than I would like for something that's so special to nerds. It's true because Spider-Man brand-new day showed that people will still show up for a movie if it's great. And people are still know how to get excited for a Marvel movie. Right. They didn't need to re-release no way home a few months before to get people excited for brand-new day. Right. And I don't feel like they need to re-release it. Because we're all watching them.

To get people excited for Doomsday? We're all out here. Like we're all watching them anyway. But again, the color grading, we should talk about that. Because I've seen those images, but I didn't know for sure if those were a real. I haven't actually seen the encore trailer. Okay. Have you seen the encore trailer?

I haven't seen the encore trailer. So I don't know for sure if. What if they're fake and we're both just like reported out of your life? That's why I'm like. Someone in Photoshop is like, make it look awesome. And sending it out into the world. Let me just skim the encore trailer. Just see if that trailer is real.

Yeah, there we go. Okay. Let's look at, I got a shot on my laptop to, I guess it looks more colored in. I guess it is more color. It doesn't look as washed out. I don't know if, I don't know if I.

That looks way more colorful. But also we saw this six years ago. I don't know if my mind is telling me that it's more colorful or if it actually. The hand shot looks way more rich. But also like, I don't remember the old one being as muddy as people complained about. So, like, I don't know. That looks pretty dope.

There is a lot more, I mean, on my end. That is pretty colorful. But there are some, it's not completely gray the movie. No. But no, it's more than just color, too. There's also, like, better shadowing and stuff. Yeah. There's a, there's a, there's a rich.

There's a better blacks to it. Yeah. Yeah. And there's some definition that I don't quite, the logo looks brighter. I feel like they should lead with that, like, remastered or something like that. Well, because 4K is so big, right? Yeah. I buy 4K, even if I own it on Blu-ray, if it's a favorite movie.

Like, yeah. There's some movies. I love like a fight club Fight Club. Fight Club is a film I adore and they frame by frame remastered it in 4K and there's some shots of stuff I'd never seen before and I've seen that movie probably a hundred times. There's probably some stuff in endgame if they punch it up like make that the thing.

Yeah, that's the part of that excites me more. But we're we're cinefiles. We're not, you know what I mean? Like we're film nerds. I don't know if people that aren't as invested in film would care about like it's shinier. I mean, I think it doesn't hurt to also promote that.

They should promote both. If that is a thing. I feel like that doesn't hurt because like I looked up showtimes. There's not like a shit ton of showtimes for this stuff. It's like you have to really try to snag a ticket. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like a wide multi-theater.

Also, it's promoting Infinity Vision, which is a limited amount of theaters. So that's not like, you know, every mom pop, you know, one house cinema. Yeah.

Well, I'm intrigued. I'm intrigued. I will be there. We're still going to watch it. I mean, we're still going to watch it. Because we're doing in game,

luckily in time to watch it authentically here. and then get to see this in four weeks? Yeah. Damn, that's crazy. All right. Well, what do you guys think? Do you think it's just a marketing thing they're saying? Because obviously, I mean, the thing is like, eventually this footage will just be online.

I mean, I'd expect within a week. Yeah. Movies out in December. I would imagine they'd release it publicly as soon as the theatrical run is over and that's going to be like two weeks maybe. September's pretty light, but October's stacked. Like, I don't know if people realize how full October is a movie. Digger is out, week one of October. Well, I'm just wondering.

if that four minutes is like spread throughout the movie or if it's like a tacked on at the end four minutes. I'm worried it's a tacked on post credit scene with Victor. Like it's literally a must watch a minute maybe and then three minutes in the movie. But again, there's 20 minutes of deleted seeds. Why aren't they in it too? That would be more exciting too.

If you told me that was a director's cut? Like a special edition. Yeah. But without George Lucas adding job of the hut, like a special edition that was like James Cameron's T2. I would love that. Yeah. I've still never seen the abyss extended.

I was so frustrated. Boom. But yeah, it's just not acceptable. And like unless someone's there to like, just like with trolls, unless someone's there to be like, hey, you're not a smart person. Like I think more people should feel bad about themselves. Well, they, they don't like their commercials about no phones. They're not effective.

They're like, please don't. They're too flashy. It's just a brief text that goes over. You need like a, you need like a Captain America homecoming PSA. Yeah. And someone just comes to the screen and is like, do not be on your phone. And if you are, we encourage other people to tell that person, put their phone away. Yeah, yeah.

Just something super serious. That way people like me who get uncomfortable to say it could be like, like, you'd be like, Like, I have permission to that. I was told by Ryan Reynolds. This is the right thing to do. There's also like an opportunity here for people in the working theater environment. Like we're losing so many. We've talked about this in the show.

Like I think there needs to be authority because there is the thing that happened with the pandemic where everyone lost how to socialize. And there's an entire generation that lost two to three years of like how to be in public. And I think if you see one person on your phone suddenly you're like, oh, no, it's fine. I've seen these pictures and there's pictures. I've seen like AI pictures like thumbnails going around for like months of hearing about this. But we've never actually. actually talked about it. I'm like, that's true. We've never talked about it. So I heard months ago that Toby was in it and then I was like muting Tobin McGuire because I don't I don't like spoilers. But then recently I was on a skate pod and they were saying with some certainty they've heard that the incursions are going to be like one of them would be Toby's planet because they asked me if I would be upset if they killed Toby by like the opening planet being

the Sam Ramey one. Would you be upset by that? I'm less can I think it be, foolish to kill him for the sake of Secret Wars, not for the sake of Toby. Like I'm way more connected to Andrew Garfield Spider-Man, but I think that if you're going to save the big culmination moments, that's Secret Wars, because you can't blow your load in Doomsday. But you also need to, like, build up the stakes with Doom.

So Toby would make a lot of sense if they don't have intention of having a big trio Spider-Man moment. But it'd be kind of a waste to kill Toby and then not have the trio. Like, we just had no way home. has like the three of them together we saw all good their chemistry goes. It would be kind of a shame to like kill him off. But they were like, well, what if he dies here

and comes back to battle world? Which canonically they could, but it would be so underwhelming if they're just like, he's alive, he's dead, he's alive. And like that's what I don't want out of comic movies is no stakes. Do you feel like it would be too big of a giant crossover moment to go off with

and then also kind of fucked up just like kill off. Because if it's like an encouragement thing, it wouldn't just be like Spider-Man who dies, right? It would be like every... Be everyone there. Be huge. Jackman there. Maybe Deadpool shows up and then they...

Well, Sony Universe didn't have X-Men in it, technically. Okay. So like they'd have to... But they wanted, when Spider-Man was coming out, they wanted to, they wanted a crossover huge, X-Man with Spider-Man. Yeah, I feel like they'd be paying that off, but I wonder if that might be a little...

I think part of the fun with the crossover movies, like an Avengers is when you get to that scene after building up a little bit. But that's a lot of the stakes. But I don't know. You want that to feel like, that'd be pretty merciless, which I think would be doomed? Would you feel the stakes or would you be so caught up in cameo-collision-fest?

I think that this could be the anti-caneo collision fest, right? Like if they go like, oh, you like that? Ha-ha, dead. Okay. Because we know that X-Men are in it, right? Deep down. Like Florence Pugh and Mystique fight. Gambit fight Shong Chi.

Like, they're in the movie. So they can't do the opening scene, killing the X-Men, unless some of the X-Men get away. Sure. And Hugh Jackman, we don't see them with anybody. And it's, I feel like, because how did Deadpool and Wolverine? Hugh Jackman and Wolverine and Deadpool are on the Fox planet still? But also that Wolverine is canonically not our Wolverine.

Yeah, but he's staying with them now. Right. So that would be the- So we'd have to meet his X-Men. That would be the Wolverine. Yeah, that would be the Wolverine. The Yellow Suit Wolverine would be the one that Toby McGuire is fighting. Right.

And Yellow-Suit Wolverine lost his whole X-Men. So they could meet because each of them, because Logan was our X-Men. But Xavier's died three times. Are they going to address that? Like, you know what I mean? Are these R-X-Men at all? Hmm. Well, so do you, I can't quite tell.

Do you not like this opening scene? idea? I don't think it's there is a way to write it where it feels impactful and it feels novel and it feels exciting and it's kind of anti-camio because it means like there's actual weight to it. But if they undermine it by having them back in battle world, I'd hate it because it does feel like everything people complain about with comic book movies. I feel like they would maybe not come back in battle world, but post-battle world they would come back. I don't think they would make their deaths permanent.

See, that's silly. These people are also 90 years old. Do you think they would just make their death, especially Hugh Jackman? Do you think they would permanize their, is that a word permanent? Permanize? Do you think they would permanize? I don't think that we should have simultaneous X-Men. Like, we just cast. So you think they should kill off that?

Yeah. Oh, wow, you think they should kill off that Hugh Jackman? Yeah. Okay. Because, like, it's been, it's been a run that's been amazing. But, like, do we want 80-year-old Patrick Stewart and 80-year-old Ian McKellen playing roles that are so known for them while we're trying to familiarize ourselves with the new era. Like it doesn't.

And we've also brought them back so many times. Like their swan song was in a lot of ways Deadpool Wolverine, but they weren't on screen because they were saving it for this. If we keep doing the like, how long can we dangle that? And you're okay with Spider-Man that Toby because you're not super connected to Toby? Yeah. I mean, I want more Andrew Garfield. You feel like this opens the door.

Yeah, dude. Yeah. Bring my boy back. He's a way better fit for Deadpool. He's a way better fit for the MCU. I just wonder, I am just, it all, it all depends on execution for sure. Like, it could just be something that feels like a cheap way to set up stakes. It might be distracting like, oh, cameo collision.

Oh, that sucks. Yeah. Kind of like whenever I rewatch Deadpool, the second time I rewatch Deadpool and Wolverine, I've only seen it twice, when he first goes flame on, Chris Evans. And it's like, I remember watching it with a crowd in the second viewing and being like, oh, man, but just going to get like undermined by like him falling on. his crotch in a second. He's not really going to be. He's not going to be the Johnny Storm that we all think he's going to be. And I feel like we might get, it would be cool to watch

them collide, but then they both die. I don't know if that will. It just depends. I'm like, it's a tonal juggle. It's a tonal juggle. That's the biggest thing. And that's what Russo's fucking nail with that game and Infinity War. What do you think about the universe ending as like a permanence? Like, would you be upset if that's the last time we see the X-Men? This version of like the Fox First? Yeah. Is it for sure the Fox X-Men. Then we don't know. But that's why variants don't work. Because the fact that we're having this conversation of like yellow Wolverine, like it's not comics. Film are a different medium. You know, like I think they need to streamline a bit. I think after Secret Wars use the fun of it, right?

Like have, I want Nicholas Cage to meet Ryan Gosling. But then I don't want to see Nicholas Cage again because now I need to be like Ryan Gosling is ghost rider, not this bevy of ghost riders. I would use Secret Wars like they did in the comic books to mainline continuity. Like every 20 years comic books after this. It's fittingly about 18 years of Marvel. Like, you do need to streamline again. So I personally don't think they should have simultaneous franchises amok. Okay. All right, man. I'm on your side. I'm on your side. After Doomsday focuses just specifically on X-Men and our MCU, then we save the Ghost Rider Daredevil melee because we need escalation. And Battleworld literally could allow for those universes to be plopped in with some minimal plot conveniences. So save some canneos, and I think that's the only way you can build bigger than Doomsday.

These things have to keep escalating. Greg? Not enough breath there, Coy. Not enough breath. I'm not going to get a midroth. Not enough breath. This is about my whole channel's problem. So here we go.

Last story. I've been seeing this takeoff on X, formerly known as Twitter. Ridley Scott, apparently, I mean, he's been saying this for a while, but it looks like it's more likely than before, that he will continue doing his alien movement. So he will do Alien Covenant sequel, Prometheus 3, whatever, maybe, with the character David, Michael Fastbatter. Now, the sad part about this is that Alien Romulus 2, this is the big, not confirmed, but I believe it. I'll say it. I totally believe a rumor of behind the scenes drama is that Fetti Alvarez, they were already ready to go with Alien Romulus 2.

and they wanted to actually have David B in that movie. But Ridley Scott was like, no, you can't use my David. No. And because of that, some friction, it halted Alien Romulus 2. We might not get Alien Romulus 2. So instead, we're going to get Ridley Scott doing Prometheus 3, Alien Covenant, whatever. And I feel like terrible timing for Ridley Scott to be talking about this. considering how poorly received the dog stars is it's not a great movie guess it how poorly received the dog stars is right now by critics and it seems like audience as well and how well received alien robinless was I get it like it's some people have criticized it as being like playing the greatest hits but it does a good job playing those greatest hits and maybe they might get a little more original with the sequel I freaking like while I think those hermitheus films are definitely more heady and they try to

try something more and they're more daring with their storytelling that doesn't automatically make them good and prometheus is like that's definitely garnered a fan they both have a fan base yeah but i're just like the terms of like glowing love around and alien covenant did not really succeed didn't really succeed at the box office yeah and you have to freaking remind a lot of people of what hell happened at alien covenant yeah that what happened i'm like i don't even remember the ending of alien covenant i would need to be like what did it happen with david did you not die in that movie. I don't remember what happened. I just remember a flute scene.

That's the highlight to me. Yeah. So I was like getting that movie trilogy completed in terms of like finishing off a continuity if I'm binging the alien franchise, sure. But getting it in sacrifice of Romulus too, I'm not a big fan of your take. I would like it to run parallel. Like I would like it to be Gen V and the boys. And I can have my crazy Ridley Scott existential journey of. man and where we come from with David because he is the highlight of the Prometheus movies for me.

I wouldn't mind another one of those to experience a conclusion because it does feel like I don't remember the ending, but it does feel open ended. I do remember thinking like interesting concepts, but never felt resolved, but I did not have nearly the same experience with Covenant or Prometheus that I do with

Alien Romulus. So if it was going to be like a every other even two years and it cost us a delay, that's one thing. But costing us like a whole new launch of the universe that was maybe the most successful relaunch of aliens since ever. Yeah.

Because it felt like Alien 3 to me. Like I remember walking into Alien Romulus being like, there is finally an alien trilogy. Yeah. Like I love Alien and I feel like, it's kind of like Terminator where it's like, we got to, we're going to keep trying and it almost hurts more

every time they try because I'm like, maybe this is it. and it's never it. So when Alien Romulus actually stuck the landing and gave me an 80s movie today, that felt like a trilogy, that I felt like this is it, I was so excited to continue loving alien.

It's like Predator right now. Predator is the best it's been since the beginning, I would argue. And that means we can have, there's a little bit more faith in the IP. There's a little bit more meat on the bone that they can be bold because they've earned it with, you know, the variety of predator movies. Yeah. If we go back to Prometheus, I don't feel like people are going to show up. I don't feel like it's going to allow for the crazy concepts that I do want to see Ridley Scott address. we need Romulus kind of simultaneously to be like, here's the fun one, here's the weird one.

Like they need to coexist if at all. True. So I think it's an unfortunate timing for Ridley Scott, who I adore. He's one of the great filmmakers of our lifetime. But between dog stars and this and everything else, like I don't want Ridley Scott, this legend that's 80 something to go out with Gladiator 2, Prometheus 3, the dog stars. You know, like, I just, I don't want that to be how people perceive him. And the guy brought a Stelman Louise, alien, gladiator one, like American gangster, all of these iconic incredible films, Blade Runner.

Like, I can't even think of them all. It'd be a shame if it costs the next generation discovering how good his classics are. And I think Alien Romulus brought people back to loving it. Yeah. I don't think Prometheus 3 is going to bring people back to anything. The people that love it will love it, but it's not like an approachable broad thing. No. And he's just so he's way too hit or missed these days.

That's my concern. And I think generally he's more missed than hit. Like he still knows how to shoot a movie. Sure. With any cameras. He still. It's like a cold gladiative. I think he said, I don't know for sure.

I'm going off. I think all a cinematographer is stupid or something. Yeah. He got a gladiator too. Josh Brolin was like, I can't shoot on these 11 cameras. What do you want for me? And he's like, I'll do it.

But he's the best part of dog stars. He is. He is. I like Jacobo Lorty too. It's just like the movie didn't get to decide what it was for me. My issue was that it was two movies. It was like two scripts fighting each yeah. Well, to be fair to Ridley Scott, like in this plethora of the last like five to 10 years, he's he's had I hear the I haven't seen it. I'm assuming you have because of your Boston boys at

the last duel. Yeah, I loved it too. That's my favorite modern. Yeah. Then the Martian a little bit before that. Marchion is like 15 years ago though. This is a really? 2010. Check the tapes. There we go. We got guy in the chair. Guy in the chair. The Martian, 2015. 11 years ago. Oh, yeah. That's not recent, right? I thought it was sooner than that. This is really 11 years ago? I'm sorry.

I'm sorry to do that to all this. Damn, that is so far away. I love the Martian, but I think I over-extend because I think, like I have to accept it's at least 10 years. This movie's 11 years old. The last duel, no one saw.

Like, I loved it because it's a very interesting, I don't want to give anything away, but the movie's narrative structure is really bold and it asks a lot of questions of today's audience, but it didn't do the numbers. It needs to be a, modern Ridley Scott Classic. Like it's a great film, but his last modern classic was 11 years ago.

Yeah. Like the last duel had the unfortunate timing of post-pandemic. It had the unfortunate, like, it didn't get to be his last big epic. And the dog stars isn't going to be. Well, I should have led with this information, but to close it off the story, I'll leave with this. This should have been the top is that it doesn't change anything of what we're saying, really, is that he was saying like David would be.

building a brave new world for himself. AIs can go off and that they do. It's like a bomb, so he'd want to explore AI. It's been a similar story that he's been wanting to do since 2017, but to this day, there's still no announced writer

or start date or official Fosbeender deal. So it's not official. He's talking about it. It's not the same as being green, having a green light. It just seems more likely right now that that green light is going to happen.

And if there is another alien movie, it seems more likely it'll be this one since it's, you know, he's the creator of aliens. So he probably was able to be like, Nope, don't do it. I want to do my thing, you know. And that explains a lot of the, like, I didn't love, I love alien Romulus. I did not love the bringing back from the dead cyborg choice.

Okay. And I would have loved if that was David. Because that would have felt like a greatest tits, actually, because it would have been a greatest tits of alien, but also a greatest hits of Prometheus. True. That would have been such a special culmination. That would have been almost like Avengers, like these two tones coming together. Right.

Yeah, for sure. Because it would have made Prometheus like a very modern relevance. I don't feel like Prometheus has the modern relevance. No, not really. well that's our take yeah i'd like to see it from ridley scott i adore him as a filmmaker not at the cost of romulus yeah i'd like
