Tara and I are picking up where we left off. Banana! We did the Despicable Me trilogy.

Now it's time to go through the minions and then land on Despickel Me Me 4. I don't see somebody. Oh, Tebow me too. Tara, are you excited? Yeah, because I love the minions. The minions are adorable. They're the height of the movie. I'm a little nervous about this one.

Really? If it's just the minions. That sounds like this could either be really fun or very tedious. It's going to be one of the two going in with an open mind. Open mind. That's what it's all about. I'm ready to get my mignon. Ladies and gentlemen,

if you're listening to this in Apple and Spotify, which I know you are because everyone's searching for minions reviews on these platforms, We just watched the movie Minions. Tara Erickson with me. I, Sir Greg Alba, as I prefer to be called around the office here. I never follow that rule. She never does. Punishment will be dealt.

I just say, hey, buddy. Paycheck will be cut. These are the consequences, Tara. Let's see it. Okay, so before watching Minions, I did not want to watch Minions. I know. You thought it was going to be too much of the minions. We saw the first three despicable me movies.

Really loved the first two. The third one was okay, I guess. Yeah. And everything about just doing a standalone minions movie just sounded like the most annoying cash grab to me. Because they're not really characters in those despicable me movies. They're like the same one-note joke, right? Right. It works.

But it works in that tandem of just cutting to them once in a while. Right. You know? Yeah. So the idea of like following them as main characters, I had no interest. And that's why we put it off for so long. But the Spicklema 4 is out on VOD. So I was like, you know what?

We should probably watch because the next one is called Rise of Gru. Oh. And so it's the sequel to Minions. But then they have to Specquel Me 4 out. So I was like, we should watch Minions and Minions Rise of Gru and then we'll watch the Specival of Me 4. Okay. And, yeah, so I was like, this was just one you had to check off. But a few minutes in, it was like...

You were sold. It was like, it looks great. You were loving it. You were like, you love the animation. I got endeared to especially the character Bob. Yeah. The aesthetic of like 60s espionage, because the Spicklemy franchise already harkens to that. So to fully embrace it by setting it in that era just makes it feel a lot more lively.

Like, I wouldn't say I like this one more. than Despickel Me 1 and 2, but I like this more than Despicable Me 3, honestly. Like, I enjoyed this one more because it surprised me in spots. Oh, yeah. Once they got it, when they got into that car with the family and they just put off the mask and that's that the gun, so funny. What the hell's going on? That was hilarious.

Yeah, I was surprised by, like, the computer animation is so good, especially during the action scenes. Oh, yeah. The chase scenes. I was surprised by that. Everything looked really great. At times, I do feel like they stretch out bits. so they could hit that movie runtime, you know? Yeah.

You have to at least be 80 minutes long to be a movie. Totally. There are times where they stretch out those bits. Yeah. But it didn't feel like too long when they were stretching it. We were aware of maybe the points where they are stretching it, but it didn't feel like overly long where I got bored. Yeah, where it's like there were times where I was like kind of dipping in and out.

Not never fully dipped out, but there were moments throughout the whole movie where I would just be surprisingly really funny stuff. Oh, yeah, hilarious. I told the very end of the movie, like the guitar bit at the end. He grabs the guitar and starts smashing it from enjoying it too much. That was hilarious. Yeah, I thought this was a surprisingly enjoyable movie. A movie I've been so off-put by the thought of ever watching for the longest time.

It's so good. It's hilarious. I was surprised about how funny it was and how they did manage to succeed in making characters. and actually, like, I really felt like, oh, I see the distinguished personalities of the three main men, you. Right, which is like, and how they got their uniform was really, really cute.

And I loved how giving they were. Like, they had the crown, but then they're like, oh, no, we're here, but we got this for you. And they give it back to her, and she still wants to kill them. Yeah. And you're like, what a dick.

But then I love it when Gru comes up because it's in their heart. to, like, be with villains that Kevin just gives him this look of, like, he's got it. We got to go with him. But the after credits is really, really sweet because you're like, okay, grew is a villain. Got it. Couldn't they just have lived happily with Queen Elizabeth in the kingdom, right? And been taken care of.

Hold on. Oh, here we go. Get it. There you guys go. Oh, this was a 3D movie, I guess. Yeah, that looks awesome. Yeti. Wow, they're all coming back.

This is a full-on music video for it. This is like made for online marketing. There's like a There's like a recap of the movie Stewart looks like a little hippie in his cap Like Even watching it like this

It seems like they really cared about making this movie Oh, little Gru. Oh, he's back. Hi, T-Rex. Oh, my dude. Gru, you better run. Yeah. Yeah.

That's fun. I'm surprised by how much care went into this. I really feel like they, I feel like as in terms of the visual language and the bits visually and just the overall look. I think story-wise, the circle me one and two is way better. But in terms of visual, they really cared to bring a visual piece. And I think that they really succeeded. I actually really love, like, in the first, like, 20, 30 minutes what they give us of them going through the environment and seeing where they come from, I think they did a really, really awesome job with that. It sets a foundation for a good story.

And again, they had some heart in there. making us fall in love with Bob. As it goes on, they obviously have to add in Scarlet. And she was a great part, too, but it wasn't as emotional as Despicable Me, one. From what I remember, that really, like, got me. And two, I think, did, too. This one got me slightly. But, yeah, not in the way that Despicable Me, I think one or two did.

But it's still, like, still really good. They told a different story than those movies. Because those movies are very much about Gru and his family, or mainly just a Groo story. Yeah. And with this one, keeping it on the minions by giving them like those lore and stuff, I was, I guess I was surprised by that aspect. And I think with Sandra Bullock, Scarlett, having them be servants to someone who actually truly is villainous instead of doing a cop out and doing like a despicable Me movie where she's actually good or something like that. Yeah. But still putting her with a bit of a sad, tragic heart to her of wanting the.

crown for some because it seems like she had some type of loneliness as a child and they were playing on that like she wanted the validation so much yeah absolutely she wanted to be worshipped because there was a pain in her so i like how they still instilled that in her character but kept her villainous yeah which was surprising it does kind of change something that despicable me of lore though because they're just henchmen for him and it feels like no one ever recognizes these worldwide sensations they're huge they should be everywhere plastered you know you got to think about the world building. Right. You mean like as the minions. As the minions. Yeah. People see minions on the streets. They should be like famous characters are being photographed. I'm like,

oh my God, you're like historical. Totally. We remember you. Yeah, from back in the day. You know. And I think they were a king once. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. But, you know. But they made this after. I know. So they're kind of messing with the history. They mess with that. Maybe indisputable before they'll do that. I hope they do because you're going to get people like me bitching at the television. That's all he does these days. Whereas, yeah, I mean, a lot of the bits, though, sometimes they're going a little too long, but hey, we're not the target market, you know, a man in his 30s, a woman in her late 50s, it's just not designed for us. So the little kids, I feel like little kid is made for little kids. Totally. And they make it enjoyable enough by making it really

pop and have some surprising bits. That was fun. I agree. I was surprised I had fun. It was good. I loved it. I yeah, I'm a little tired today, but I still really, really liked it. You're training me. I know. I'm like not me,

but you guys I don't like it. You know, already know. I'm switching off Prozac. I'm on Wildbutrin. I'm in the beginning. This is what it does to me. Hopefully I'll get over it in a couple weeks and I'll be back to me. We shall see. But in case you guys are in the comments being like,

Tara doesn't seem on it, or she seems really tired, what is wrong with Tara? We don't like her anymore. I'm trying. What if the comments are, we prefer Tara this way? Right. Like, you prefer me more chill. We tolerated you before. Totally. Now, this is

a version we can truly accept and actually love. That's chill with me, y'all, because I didn't really say much. I just went ha-ha and smiled, and that was it. And then he made all the commentary. She tells me to memo her. Yeah. Right when it's done.

She says, Pace. You know my bank account. Pay me. I was silent and smiling. You pay me for my presence. Bianch. Anyway.

I don't have anything else to say. I don't want people to mistake it because we didn't like to speak a one of me through. We were pretty honest about it. So if I didn't like this, I'd be honest about it. Oh, yeah. No. No, this one, this one was good. I found it entertaining and I'm in love with Bob.

Yeah, Bob's the best. I need a T-shirt with just Bob that says Bob. He really is the best one. Like, seriously, why are, I'm sure those exist, but I need to get one. I guess Stewart's just grumpy. Stewart's kind of grumpy and Kevin's like, a leader and he's really sweet, but give me a break. Like Bob is like, I need a bag that just says, I heart and then Bob, Bob's picture on it. Bob's the one you're rude for, man.

Bob's the one you root for. He's so cute, and he loves animals. I know, I love him so much. Bobby, hey, ladies and gentlemen, what do you guys think about Despicable Me for the not movie we watched? We watch Minions. Would you guys think about minions?
