Starting point is 00:01:00 this week's videos are brought to you by price picks more on them and just a bit do you think we should just get to it i think let's get into it baby let's freaking go uh shut up be gone silence oh my god um wow all right thanks to prep for having edit down these highlights for us we appreciate you also Eric and Nerd Chronic, he's doing awesome juice over there. He does. We just watched MI3, baby.
Starting point is 00:01:37 Wow. Okay. Adog, how do you feel? I feel amazing. I feel hyped up. I feel amped. I feel... Like, you got the juice in it.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Oh, I got all the juice in me. All 72 flavors of juice. Yep. Running through my veins right now. That was amazing. That was one of the best action movies I've ever seen in my life. I'm with you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Tom Cruise was. was great the entire cast was great philip seymour hoffman shout out to him that was an amazing villain role amazing performance and i love the fact that this movie even though it's the third one of the franchise was still able to find new ways to make the stakes interesting i feel like j james was able to keep the momentum of the film through the entire portion or through the entire runtime because there was never really a down moment there was never a slow part of the movie it just only kept ramping up and the fact that we started on the high of him believing that his wife was um in that chair and that we thought that his wife died at the top and that's the cold
Starting point is 00:02:40 open i was like wow i'm in you son of a biscuit i'm here and yeah i am i am thrilled i am over stimulated but in the best way possible i'm just i'm flabbergass and my get consider my gas flabbard. And yeah, I got more thoughts, but Tara, how are you feeling? Oh, man. That movie was so much fun. So it ain't fun. We have never gotten so much Tom Cruise running as we did in this movie and they knew what they were doing when they asked for that. The one shot where he is just running and he's like move, move, move, move, move, and it just keeps going. I mean, that is like, to me, that is like the strength of like Tom Cruise and like just everything that he does, which is Wackado Wild. I also think that he flew off that building, dude. He ran and he jumped off that
Starting point is 00:03:34 building. He did that. That's freaking wild. Like it, to me, you, you come to the Mission Impossible movies because of how Tom set it up where he was like, I'm going to do my own stunts. And he's not afraid to just reach new limits. I mean, it's just wild. Like what we get to see in. this movie and also I think the fact that it started out I always think this in action movies that like maybe there's not enough heart to make us care for when people die or their lives are at risk and I always say that Pixar does it so well or Disney right they set that up in the beginning somebody dies or we get a little bit of that juice they don't have to take a long time on it and then we end up caring they did not have to take a long time for us to see tom and michel at the
Starting point is 00:04:26 at a party, her with her friends, how they interact, how he looks at her for us to care about their relationship. You don't need a full hour at the top to set up a foundation. They gave us a little bit of juice at the top and then we're off and we're freaking going. And what I love about this movie is that any time we talk about where Ving Rhames is asking about his engagement, we're moving. We're in the middle of a mission. And even when we're giving instructions on something else or or even if it's about feelings like hey how did how did that feel we're putting a mic on we're getting ready for a mission and that is what i specifically love about this movie i know that that is really hard to actually get done in like every every film if that's what you're aiming
Starting point is 00:05:14 for but i believe that because of that that's what makes this movie so entertaining and the pacing so well done is because every time we're talking we're also moving we're on a mission we don't have to like you don't have to stand here and talk and give us exposition we don't need it what we want is this movie this is what we want we want this all day every day we got it we got it we did it and yeah j james really did his thing with this one i feel like this is the epitome of a movie
Starting point is 00:05:50 deserving of its title because from start to finish I was like oh this feels impossible but somehow we have defied the odds and it's this is one of those films for me where you see one why people love it but two the films that followed afterwards that were taking inspiration from this film and I was like wow it's amazing how you you we live in this world of cultural influence and film influence and not even realize it but when you do it was like okay that's why they did this this because of this and this specific film works so well like the stuff on the bridge and um there was a few other action scenes that are escaped me at this particular moment but the fact that we
Starting point is 00:06:35 were able to do all of that and it felt so believable in spite of how heightened it was was incredible and yeah just to go to the point that you kind of made about the the chemistry they didn't need an hour to set that up you felt it immediately you felt their chemistry from the jump between him and his wife and i think that the beautiful thing about these movies is that even though it's the third one of the franchise you can just jump into this one not in having seen one and two and still be thoroughly entertained because this isn't really rely on your experience of those other two ones you like okay maybe you can say like ving rames was established in the first one but yeah laurence fishburton isn't in the first one first or second one uh neither is his wife or
Starting point is 00:07:17 any of the other supporting cast, but still it just has this immediate energy to it where you care immediately off the bat about him, his wife, his mission, because they threw you into this situation in which you have so many questions. And even though you know the movie's going there, you're still concerned for his life
Starting point is 00:07:39 and wondering how he's going to get out of it, which is just the tell of a great film and a great filmmaker by having scenes that not only raised the, the stakes not only have great action but are able to infuse character and story into that action all at the same time all simultaneously and i think that's that's like a one that's that's masterclass right there and i just i'm blown away i'm still blown away and apparently these movies only get better which blows my mind because that's one of the best movies i've ever seen
Starting point is 00:08:10 yeah agreed man and and here's the thing here's how many stunts kind of like scenes we went through. Any other, I think, normal action movie, they had the fortunate blessing that they have Tom Cruise and they have two successful Mission Impossible's, but prior to this. So their budget, here you go. How much money do you want? And it's probably given to them, which is why they were able to make a movie that we all want to see. Right off the bat, when we get to that building, they talk about it for two seconds. Then we're there. We're in it. The guns on top of the freaking car, we're already at what we would think would be an escalation for the end. of a film right and then skip to also that the the the freaking helicopter and it blows through that
Starting point is 00:08:54 fire and then also we're on the freeway the hole in there that that helicopter the helicopter flying through the freaking windmills i mean like that was what that was like they're so close it's such a dangerous dangerous stunt the missile seeking and then we're on the freeway you know they break out philip seymour hoffman that also seems like an escalation that that we would have at the end of a movie and we're not even there yet we're in the middle and we're just like already so invested but you've already hit it like the um the action that we want when we come to this movie we have already gotten through a good three-fourths of it right which is amazing um and i feel like the the the flip where we all were like oh of course it cannot be billy crude up right because he
Starting point is 00:09:47 allowed Tommy Cruz to break out in the elevator. We're like, he's on our side. Well, he's the one who brought him in the first place. I know, right? And then, like, how smart is it that he tells him where to go and from the audience's perspective, we have already set it up by having Carrie Russell go, it's, it's Lawrence.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Right? With his picture. I'm really like, it's freaking Lawrence. And, you know, Billy's giving him all this information. And if from the audience's perspective, we are, we're like, yes. Billy. He's like, Mouthing 1406 and here it is and here's this thing to break you out. And we are so on his side and it's so exciting. And then that flip happens to where you're like what you have to do sadly with, and I believe that this is probably pulling from something very real. I hope that it
Starting point is 00:10:39 doesn't have to do with someone as bad as Philip being a trafficker, a human trafficker, selling information to another country. They only said that once. I think if they kept saying it, it's a little too like, oh, God, like we got to work with this guy. Otherwise, three other traffickers pop up. And, you know, Billy crude up in the end, his argument is saying we get as close as we get to that target and then we're going to blow it up. And then what the U.S. does is clean it up. The argument at the end, none of this movie was ever like, doesn't make sense. No. It was all, it all made sense. It all made sense, even with the flips and the turns and the fact that when we thought it was his wife in the chair getting shot, it was really just Philip Seymour Hoffman's assistant, right,
Starting point is 00:11:28 that he had fired. And so that would make sense. It's like they put that mask on her, taper up. And it's like she is a viable option for us to use. And unfortunately, she's the one that, you know, died. So that sucks. But I feel like from, beginning to end in giving us all of this and setting up the relationship, the one thing that I thought that they did a really good job of towards the end, she was asking so many questions, his wife, I hate that. I hate it. When I see it in a script, I go, I'm not going to play that. I don't want her to ask dumb questions. It's going to be one question because she's smart enough to just defer. I see what's going on. We don't have time for this. We don't have time. We don't have time.
Starting point is 00:12:16 for you to be like, why are we here? What are you doing? How do you know how to use a gun? No, I didn't enjoy all of those questions, but what I did enjoy is they made it up with her looking and the reflection, going down, taking direction well, and getting it done.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Right? And they really made up for the lack thereof in her character that I kind of saw that we both were like, we don't have time for these questions. Right, what are you doing? Stop writing her like a girl who's like, why, how do you know?
Starting point is 00:12:46 I hate that and she didn't play that. I absolutely cannot stand that in any freaking script. I'm like, please just don't. And they really, they made up for it. And I liked it that when he got up and he's like, you did that, you know, and he's looking at crude up dead on the ground. And we have the rabbit's foot there.
Starting point is 00:13:03 And he's just like, wow. You know, he taught her well. She did it. She brought him back. I thought, wow, what a great ending. Truly. Like so happy that we, and with them,
Starting point is 00:13:15 the whole team in the back. background being like, yeah, you know, and them walking off, holding hands together. And it's just something that we haven't gotten to see specifically for Ethan Hunt before. No? And we feel that. Springs here, baseball's in full swing. And if you're looking to make watching games even more exciting. Check out prize picks are a go-to in the Daily Fantasy Sports category.
Starting point is 00:13:37 The reason this household is so in a prize picks is because it's super easy to use. You just pick more or less on player staff projections like strikeouts, home runs, or hits. baseball terms for your chance to win up to 1,000 times your entry. And unlike a lot of other apps, you can mix players from baseball and other sports like basketball, hockey, and even e-sports. My wife has one of the special in a fantasy sports, so we've been playing prize picks for a while now, and we love how quick it is to set up a lineup. This week, we grab Shohei Otani for more than one home run and Julio Rodriguez for more
Starting point is 00:14:05 than one stolen base. Let's see if my gut, but my gut, I mean, my wife's gut is right. Another thing, too, they invented the flex play, which lets you still cash out even if one of your picks doesn't hit and the payouts fast safe and secure we've got an ours in under 15 minutes so what you can do is download the app today and use code rejects to get $50 instantly after you play your first $5 lineup again that's code rejects $50 instantly after your first $5 lineup price picks run your game people yeah we feel it from the beginning we feel the there will love between them from the beginning and we root for them when they've overcome the odds at the end and I think that's that's
Starting point is 00:14:42 amazing. Yeah, this movie did a lot of really great stuff. I liked going back to the beginning of the movie and how they set that up. I thought that was really intense, but also even like a little bit further along, how they establish not only what happens at the end with the chip, but establishing that the stakes are real because they had the balls to kill Carrie Russell's character in such a gruesome in your face kind of fashion and yeah that was that was all wild but the fact that they did that show that they're they're not messing around but also the fact that the script is super smart because they took things from two and made them better like the fact that we had the mask thing come back the fact that we had the person who was kidnapped wearing the mask and it was
Starting point is 00:15:37 in service of helping Ethan and two was like the blonde dude looked like Ethan but then he was really Ethan behind him and he took the mask off
Starting point is 00:15:49 and they kind of did a reversal of that with making the girl who was his girlfriend Thornton's assistant B. Carrie Russell I was the actress his name Michelle Monaghan yes Michelle Monaghan
Starting point is 00:16:04 yeah yeah yeah yeah and I was like, okay, this is how you do this. This is how you utilize something that was a little goofy in the last friend, last movie and make it work in this movie. Also, the supporting cast was entirely great as well. I like the fact that we are able to have these characters, have this ensemble, not necessarily need to go super deep into everybody,
Starting point is 00:16:28 but give us just enough about their relationship with Ethan to know that we mess with them. Give us just enough with his wife to know that their bond is real. Give us just enough of the plot to really care because I'm a person who is of character who loves to deep dive into characters and love, love arcs, love, you know, cerebral type of stuff. But I think the fact that we're able to get action coupled with just enough to really ground us in the people that we're following is amazing. And this is the perfect balance of, yeah, that character, that plot and that action all come together in like a beautiful, I don't know, or juggled kind of way. Yeah, and they also do a really good job of showing the team as like family
Starting point is 00:17:12 because they show up at 14-06 and they're like, we heard, we're here for you. Which makes it great to have them like, you know, cheering off in the background. What I do think, and I hope for the next ones, what I assume from this movie, because it was so amazing
Starting point is 00:17:27 and Simon Pegg is that levity. Any time he delivers a line, he just knows comedy. He knows how to make it grounded but also deliver it so that you can have sort of a giggle there that I assume that the audience would be give us more Simon Pegg even though I don't think we needed more of him in this movie I think this movie is like perfect yeah but I think in in thinking of it and if you see Simon in this you would go oh damn like is there a way that we can incorporate him more into this because he's such a vibrant sort of
Starting point is 00:18:05 comedic energy that I think hits off so well between him and Tom Cruise. I love it. So I'm excited to see what the future holds, especially if he has some some callbacks. Yeah. All right. So rotten tomatoes pulled that. 2006. So no, that's a while ago. Okay. I'll make a guess. Critics. Yeah. I'm going to say, I hope they're not idiots. I'm going to say 89. Okay. And audience, I'm going to say 94. Critics. 202 reviews, 222 reviews, 71%. Okay. What are the audience?
Starting point is 00:18:42 Is it only like 85 or something? What is it? 69%. What? That's crazy. That's wild. Are you guys insane? What are you guys doing?
Starting point is 00:18:58 Did you fall asleep into your popcorn? Like, what are you talking about? This movie is freaking great. Oh, like, oh. What? Look at that. That's crazy. It literally goes from 10 minutes with his wife to action, action, action, action, action, action.
Starting point is 00:19:15 What do you people want? I don't even know. I don't know who. They were so much harsher back then in 2006. I don't. It's unbelievable. I don't want to know you. If you were in the theater, you saw this, and you came out of the theater, and you were like, 60%.
Starting point is 00:19:35 I didn't like it. Man. Why? Okay. So there's six years between Mission Impossible 1 and Mission Impossible 2. If I remember correctly, Mission Impossible 4 is 2011. Okay. There's some big gaps between two or three.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Yeah. Okay. Wow. That's that, wow. That like mess me up. I don't know. Okay. Fine.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Fine. Whatever. I guess I like bad movies. But it's a great film. It's like, those people are idiots. J.J. Abrams, I think he did an amazing job. True. That score does not reflect the film making that happened here
Starting point is 00:20:20 and or the direction for every actor in this. Like, I believe that Philip Seymour Hoffman's just throwing it, you know, throwing it away just being like, if you don't do it, I'm going to kill her. Like, it's not, if you don't do it, do it, I'm going to kill her. No, very matter of fact, it's like, it's perfect.
Starting point is 00:20:39 Casual, yeah. It's perfect. It's literally such a great film that I just think that anyone who rated that that low, you don't watch films or something. Like, oh, go away. You should be grounded. You should be grounded. And taught a lesson and, like, you have to, like, watch crappy films.
Starting point is 00:20:58 And then you'll come back to this one and say this one's great. Critics of 2006. You haven't seen enough. Go to your room. Exactly. What are your room and think about what you've done? Over it. See?
Starting point is 00:21:07 Done with you. Out of here. Come back when you've got some sense. Exactly. Hopefully I got some sense before. I hope so. Like those ratings better come up because obviously I'm a little heated. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I'm a little ticked right now. So you guys let us know what you think in the comments. Leave a like on this video because this movie's freaking amazing. Leave a comment if you agree with those critics or if you think that that's a bunch of BS and the rate, the The score should be a lot higher. Also, obviously, subscribe, yes. Do all the Jews, follow us on all the socials. Get your gear.
Starting point is 00:21:43 He's got his chesty shirt on. This is the new Shegex Reject sweater. RejectNationShop.com. You know where to get it. We love you guys. And we will see you on the next one. Losis. Jameson.
Starting point is 00:21:59 We're going to send you on a mission. Should you choose to accept it? And you will or else you're fired. That's how it. works here at IMF. This mission, should you choose to accept it? Again, no pressure. But if you don't, you're fired and your family is murdered.
Starting point is 00:22:14 This mission is a very dangerous one. It's going to self-destruct in about 30 seconds. Oh, man. By the time you see this, it'll probably have already self-destructed. So here's what we're going to do. You got 30 seconds to hear the mission. I'm going to set a timer. Set timer for 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:22:32 30 seconds. Let's do it one more time. Some more time. Some more time. Sorry, sorry. It's an airplay mode. This is how it would go in a real life mission. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:42 30 seconds. Three, two, one. We got, okay, 30 seconds are starting. We got 30 seconds to explain this mission. Yes, okay. And if you do not understand how this mission goes down, it's going to be really about. Okay, about 20 seconds left.
Starting point is 00:22:54 So please really listen. Pay attention right now. In fact, why don't you get a little closer to your computer? Can you hear? Turn the volume up. Sometimes on Zoom, it doesn't quite work. But don't turn up too high. We got 10 seconds, sir.
Starting point is 00:23:05 We just need to spit it out. Steal the plan. We just need to spit it out right now. No, no, no. You need to kill. Oh, my God. Wait, hold on. No, it's actually working just fine.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Oh, shit. Oh, no.
