Starting point is 00:01:18 Let's get into this ghost protocol. Let's go! Tommy. Okay. Tommy. possible thank you to prepper for helping edit down these highlights also eric ednerd chronic does well too yeah he does some good edits those the great stuff oh the cg i land now that's weird i don't like that um okay so how are you feeling now now we're feeling now um i really enjoyed that
Starting point is 00:02:00 one. I thought it was a lot of fun. I thought it was action-packed. I thought the way it started was super energetic. I really liked our cast. Tommy, plus a supporting cast, I like the fact that this was a movie that was perpetually building upon itself with his action scenes. The fact that it was one of those situations where whatever can go wrong will go wrong, but we have to find a way to improvise to continue the story. Which is fun. Which is a lot of fun. Yeah. I think that it did a good job of having a story that's told through its action granted it's obviously it's a it's a very plot heavy story so it's like exposition coupled with action scenes to propel that story and i feel like the way that they were able to do that and and putting in the conflict of this happens therefore
Starting point is 00:02:55 this happens this happens but this happens and finding a way to go around that and and eventually finding a way to solve the problem while always keeping our characters in the back rope. I thought that stuff was very interesting. I will say, though, I think I prefer three over this one because I felt like the three just had a greater sense of personal stakes overall, coupled with that action, plus on the fantastic villain, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. But yeah, I really like the new status quo of this one, of having a set team and a cast of characters that, have their own individual skills that are separate from Ethan Hunt as as the leader and I look forward to seeing hopefully this cast come back in the future because yeah it seems like this one is the this is the new status quo what we're going to be doing going forward and I like that so yeah in
Starting point is 00:03:45 short that's what I felt I dug it yeah I was really glad that they put Simon peg at the forefront I said that in the last movie if you don't utilize them you're really dumb and they did and they did like fully like he's a lead now in this movie which is awesome and i think um it made up for some of the lack of pacing um that made like for example three felt like it flew by this one didn't necessarily feel that way although i loved it i mean i love these movies but there was something about that they took more time um even in just like b-roll and sometimes master shots in between the action, which was really well-paced, that for some reason at the end,
Starting point is 00:04:32 I just thought it was lagging. And really where I thought that was when the girl goes in to, she plays Venus, to seduce the guy, those scenes, I was like, it took a little too long. I was like, wait, when are, okay, we got to get these codes from this guy.
Starting point is 00:04:50 But I loved it when Jeremy Brenner was like, jump, jump, like the comedy that they put in between Simon Pegg, even Jeremy Renner, the science behind that, it's very cool. I mean, we start out with very, with really cool stuff that we've never seen before, putting up the backdrop to reflect the statue and it moves so that the guy thinks
Starting point is 00:05:13 he's still looking at the exact same thing. I thought that was very cool. I thought really from the beginning, almost all the way to the end, like it was paced really well, especially when he goes on the window. That was Wackadoo, wild, insane, incredible, 10 out of 10. Like, oh my gosh, this is what we come to the Mission Impossible movies for.
Starting point is 00:05:38 It's stuff like that. And then even the ending scene as well with the car scene, great action scene. Awesome. And we're intercutting between the action of Simon Pegg trying to get it all back together, which I like that as well. And then Jeremy Renner finally got a fight scene in there. He's good at that stuff. There was just something about really just the three-fourths of the end that I was like,
Starting point is 00:06:03 maybe they could have cut it down a little bit to make it feel a little bit faster. Because to me, I think that this could have been, and maybe people already think it's like a perfect movie. But to me, I just think the pacing could have been perfect if it was just like 50. minutes less not saying we get rid of any of the character development like not saying we get rid of like dialogue i think that there was just moments where there was like be roll trying to um give us a really pretty shot of where we are which is cool but maybe it's just i just felt like when we got venus in there in that scene i was like i don't know i wasn't totally hooked on it and feeling the um the frenzy, the anticipation, the energy of like,
Starting point is 00:06:57 we need to do this and this feels like energetic. I was sort of relaxed, I think, during that scene with Venus. But what juiced it up is when Tom kissed her, I was like, hey, okay. I want to be Venus right now. No, but I thought that was a lot of fun. And what a really, I mean, this is just whatever. I am doing one like nitpick but overall this movie's great I do still obviously prefer three over this one because three really did feel it had everything and it flew by in a flash to me I just like I dis I was like what the twist was crazy in three the double twist absolutely amazing and like not to take away from any of the actors then because they all did great I really do think it has to do with
Starting point is 00:07:50 the pacing and that is a pacing issue when you don't if you haven't felt like the movie flew by there's something added in there that's lagging time away from us that's making us pay a little bit too much attention to the non-important things it's okay if you want to take time for some character development take time at the end for them to meet up and he Jeremy tells him hey that was me with your wife and he's like I knew this is a plan all the time and he looks at his wife how sweet is that that's a really great plot point in the story. I can't quite pinpoint what the other things were, but I think
Starting point is 00:08:28 overall this was a really fun movie, especially in all the action scenes. And we really did start out with the bang pretty quickly, which was awesome, which I always appreciate with DMI movies. Yeah, okay. So I enjoy the movie overall, but I do have to say a couple of things that were, I guess, more nitpicky. One, I felt like, even though it's like a, it's a pro and a con at the same time, I feel like because this one's trying to be more ensemble-based, it allowed the other characters that were introducing to shine more,
Starting point is 00:09:03 but because Ethan Hunt has already established as the staple of this franchise, he didn't really have any character growth within the film. They started him in the prison, and he's pretty much the stagnant, consistent one, where the other ones were kind of put into a new situation, have to overcome something uh venus with uh the death of her partner simon peg being put into the field for the first time and actually having to put his feet to the fire uh brand with his his guilt over what happened to ethan and and the discovery that he was actually skilled even was kind of the the
Starting point is 00:09:35 static staple because we know him to be that that guy and i feel like what they did with him in three questioning his his role as uh is he capable of having a civilian love life with this job that he has and i also felt like the other at least one and three did the whole you guys have to go rogue and do this on your own thing a little bit better than this movie did because i never felt that that tension of oh we are the only ones we can rely on because it's always been that but i don't know for some reason it just didn't hit as hard for this one for me but i think the where it makes up with those things is the fact that the action is the the the draw here the action and the tension of things going wrong within the elevation of the story
Starting point is 00:10:23 is what keeps it captivating so it really leans onto that it really leans onto the plot and I feel like if it had a little bit more character focus and more of that intrigue it would have made it a wholly engaging experience I feel like this is a great ride this is a great theatrical experience I imagine this would be a crowd pleaser back in 2011 when it came out for sure but I felt like yeah I hope that in these next movies we either because it feels like this is a staple now like oh we have to go rogue or like oh the agency's against us so we have to we have to find a way to do it on our own i hope we can find a way to reinvent that or if we are going to do that again to find a way to keep it interesting but for our characters and maybe add a little bit more
Starting point is 00:11:08 um personal obstacle for this i don't feel like Ethan hunt had any personal stake in it he just is this is just the job that he does obviously it's in it's they're the i'mf you know it's the it's it's an impossible mission every time so i feel like having a little bit more personal flare with the first one it was the fact that his whole team was killed and then plot to us the guy who he was working with was the guy behind it two he had the the girl that he uh ended up getting with so that was his personal in there and then three obviously was stuff with his wife so this one didn't really have that thing but you know obviously there's four more and i hear this franchise only grows and gets better so I'm excited to see what they're doing in the future.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Reject Nation, if you haven't heard, I'm going to tell you about a little thing that's been part of my routine these past couple months. Dry neck to spill. Hewle, H-U-E-L. God, that is tasty. Well, I've been using Hewled update, you guys, on January 25th, I weigh 218 pounds. As of the day of filming this, I'm down to 188. That's 30 pounds lighter, six-pack Greg incoming. And easily, a necessity, one of the biggest things that I've been.
Starting point is 00:12:15 doing it's making smarter easier food choices like hules black condition ready to drink a meal i've got a ton of these as a reminder before i ever partner with them they sent me bottles to try i was very very clear that i would not want to do a partnership unless i actually liked the drink and by like i mean taste i wasn't even into the weight loss thing yet yeah turns out i did i was hooked because it's not just convenient it actually tastes good like legit milkshake good not Looks nice on the label, but tastes like chalk. No, it's good, good. So here's why it works for me.
Starting point is 00:12:50 It's a complete meal in a bottle. Packed with 35 grams of protein, slow release carbs, 27 essential vitamins and minerals. You're not just filling up, you're fueling up, as we like to say. No prep, no cooking, just grab it, drink it, and you're good to rock. And that's for flavors. I mean, they've got chocolate, vanilla, iced coffee, strawberry banana. If you can't decide, variety box is a great way to go. Fuel makes eating well simple.
Starting point is 00:13:12 takes the pressure off especially if you're trying to stay consistent the best part it's affordable each bottle costs less than five bucks if you're finally ready to try it out or if you already take huel and now you want to help support the channel a little extra bit you can go to huel dot com and use our code rejects for 15% off your first order plus a free gift that's huel dot com code rejects you could also go to huel dot com slash rejects i did that today so whether you're getting in shape or trying to eat smarter huell makes it easy to stay on track thank you huel for sponsoring this video rejuignation when looking at where this channel's at now to where it once was when this first started just a lot of growing pains there always will be growing pains but i remember back on the day it was like wearing every single hat creative editor accountant marketer every year answer had to come for me in some way and every new day brought some type of decision that i questioned whether or not i was qualified to make and that's why i wish we had something like shopify from the start because when you feel like you're building something something alone. It helps to have a platform that actually works with you. And that's what Shopify does.
Starting point is 00:14:17 So what is Shopify? Well, first off, it's the platform that powers rejagnation shop.com and millions of other businesses worldwide. And honestly, whether you're just getting started or already growing, Shopify gives you the tools accessibility to build a professional-looking online store and actually run it. So you can pick from ready-made templates, sell your products, manage inventory, track analytics, all in one place. We started using Rejectionation shop before we ever partnered with them and we haven't left ever since for many a reason it even has AI tools to help write your product descriptions and built-in marketing tools to help reach your audience fast and the support rock solid from shipping to payments the customer service you are covered so if you've
Starting point is 00:14:59 got an idea and finally ready to take it seriously turn your big idea into the Shopify on your side you can sign up for your $1 per month trial and start selling today at shopify.com slash rejects once again that's shopify.com slash rejects thank you shopify for positively affecting our lives yeah i think like one thing that they could have done because the exposition with simon peg goes well he reminds us saying like well normally that's when i would call headquarters which would normally be me but i'm not there i'm here and i was uh kind of thinking in my head i was like oh they could have just showed us that right like in the middle of a thing it would have been funny if it's like I'm calling headquarters and you're like shit that's right we can't like
Starting point is 00:15:48 we're rogue as a reminder versus like the exposition of it um also real quick i did feel the absence of ring rames in this movie yeah even though he had his cameo i was like dang i really miss him here yeah he had a uh he is definitely a different a different vibe a great energy that obviously he brings to screen that's unlike any other i really would say you know he has the strongest aside from uh simon peg and then i mean obviously tom cruz but i mean jeremy renner adding him in this um is a lot of fun to see him and tom working together i agree because jeremy renner once he goes into his like spy mode uh i thought that was really fun where where tom goes to like beat him up to prove to be like tell the truth buddy you're not just an analyst.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Right. And seeing Renner kind of in that mode is fun. But yeah, I would say that still three is at, like, the top of my list loved it. But still really loved, I mean, the freaking window stuff, like, get out of town. Get out of town, y'all. Crazy tension. Like, that was like, what? That was wild.
Starting point is 00:17:06 And that's honestly when I think a movie. really is responsible to make you feel something and these movies always do they always deliver in that regard and even if this isn't really giving us the full character development or like that full heart that we would want we did get a little at the end he looks at his wife we felt that right they smile each other but overall i would normally complain in another movie of like there's heart missing but in this one we don't need it we know what we're here for
Starting point is 00:17:42 but it would be nice to add it back in I get we're right it would be nice it's a better way of storytelling but for this one a okay because it still made us feel all of the other things despite that which
Starting point is 00:17:59 is what I would say gives it its success yeah I think the another thing this is ghost called ghost protocol mean like obviously they're disbanded we don't we don't know what happened to the rest of the agency we just the story just tells us that they're alone but it didn't seem like with that disadvantage they really had any trouble gaining resources because like all right we're alone and the next thing thing you see they're like in Dubai but how do we do that how do we get here from here to here
Starting point is 00:18:27 obviously that's just a conceit of storytelling but I would like to feel that on their back foot thing more when it comes to how they're able to move and operate but again the story was um still very entertaining and i did enjoy the cast of characters and look forward to seeing how they um move forward with that i hope also i hope that thing that they established at the end with the syndicate becomes the thing oh it's got to be i imagine you don't you don't just put the end of that line and then not pay it off in the next movies yeah yeah yeah i feel like the one the one little thing that they gave us in the travel was really just between Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner
Starting point is 00:19:08 when they're going over the plans of like his like I'll catch you weren't they in a plane What do you mean? Weren't they in a plane traveling during that scene Or am I going crazy? I catch you seeing? I'll catch you? Yeah where he goes where Jeremy Renner's like
Starting point is 00:19:22 So I'm looking at the plane I'm going to be in an oven And he's in a building It was in a building? Yeah That's why I was like maybe they did show us them traveling Were they on a plane? He was in like a cylinder thing And he had to like he was in the same building
Starting point is 00:19:36 as them. No, I know that. I'm saying when they talked about the plan. I thought they're in a car. I don't remember. In a car or building? They might have been in a building. I went to my brain and went, maybe they did show us to travel because I thought, were they in plane seats because they were facing each other? Well, no, they may have been in a, I think, yeah, no, no, no, in that scene, I believe they were. Because they're facing each other and is a little table, and that's what made me think that they were traveling and that's when Simon Pegg goes don't worry you're going to go through this you're going to go left you're going to go down I'm going to catch you and Brenner is freaking out and it's like wait you're going to catch me
Starting point is 00:20:13 it's a 20 foot fall yes that was in a plane because he got the plane from the other guy see okay that's what I meant about the traveling it was like quick but I get what you meant but um they showed us that but there wasn't much deuce going on with Tom and and the other girl in regards to like the plans and once we land which I get I mean, we don't, I guess we don't really need to see all of it. But what I did really, really like is when they get on the train and he's like, IMF is officially rogue or whatever. That was a cool thing.
Starting point is 00:20:48 That was so cool, right? Then I felt it. I felt it. And I was like, all right, let's go. We're going rogue. There was just a little bit of it towards the end where I felt I lost it. I felt we lost the rogue aspect. I don't know why.
Starting point is 00:21:03 I don't know why. I don't. There was just a little bit of it. A little bit that I just saw. I don't know why the pacing doesn't feel like it's just flying by right now. Not quite sure. But other than that, I really like this movie. It was a lot of fun, obviously.
Starting point is 00:21:18 A lot of laughs. Wild action scenes. Definitely the funniest ones, right? And the action scenes, fire, loved it. I'm down. Can't wait to watch the next one. Same. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Let's bring Lawrence Fishburn back And let's bring Ving Rames back Yeah, we love seeing them Hopefully we'll see them in the next one Make sure you leave a like Leave a comment, do all the things We love you guys Go to Rejectnationshop.com
Starting point is 00:21:43 Don't forget to get your gear Baby We love you guys And we will see you On the next one Marco Tunstil You know who I would love to go rock climbing with it would be you marco that's right we can wear our wrap around sunglasses
Starting point is 00:22:08 because i think that you could do all the climbing while i'm just on your back legs wrapped around you petting your head yeah i think what would happen though if i'm being totally honest correct me if i'm if this sounds like you know if you think this is a little bit of reach though that when you're that high on climbing and you're that exposed to the sun oh yeah that that might cause us to melt together you might and the air's real thin so there's less of a barrier exactly so it might be stuck to you for life fused oh my god like i might look like a tumor that's extending out of your lower back um that's a fierce back so while i i mean yeah then i i could see that how it all go after that
Starting point is 00:23:02 next thing you know we have to reverse basket kids live together forever you have to yeah just meld your life are you going to have to get married I know that by the time we get to like it's like fun in games for a while you know we're like everywhere we go people are like
Starting point is 00:23:18 huh who are these funny people walking down Benisbee some people get a kick out of it you know because Marco he's a little bit of a he's a little bit of a stiffer personality I'm a little bit more loose and you know but then I I find love and then it's going to be hard because we got to be able to you know go our separate ways and
Starting point is 00:23:37 so you know maybe around like the you know later on we decide to split apart oh no surgically surgically split apart just emotionally emotionally surgically and supernaturally oh wow because it requires cursed objects of course it does and a big spatula a big spatula purple lightning there you know and and then we realized though that uh really we needed each other this whole time. Oh, and then you get fused back together. Yeah, we fuse back together, but this time, I'm on the front. Oh, that's better. But to butt. Oh, we love that. Reckmium. So, yeah, that would be even better, man. Is there a butt to butt in Requiem for a tree? You haven't seen that? No. Oh, it's really great. It sounds like a reaction-worthy movie.
Starting point is 00:24:23 Biggest movie for you. I don't know what to even make of that at all. So in the first five minutes. I don't think when they're a Burger King with Al Pacino. I don't think you could possibly have ruined anything because I don't know what that means. But I'm glad that Marco is here to behold it. Marco, I appreciate you. Please be safe. Don't do drugs. Make love.
Starting point is 00:24:45 I'll talk what you soon.
