Starting point is 00:06:02 Second guessing myself now. I got that in right yeah I think with the trailer reactions are like, second guessing myself now, I got that aim right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is that fatality in the game? Because I've never actually immersed myself into the Mortal Kombat stories, but I've definitely dabbled in fighting, like with it and like playing with friends

Starting point is 00:06:14 on every single game. So yeah, like I have my familiarity for sure. And of course the movies, John, what is your first impression? I know we were were we had mixed opinions about the first one. It was one of those movies where like upon first experience like when you're there is like I was cool and then when you're like letting it sit. It'd be better. Yeah, it could be more moral combat. It was one of those journeys. But how are you? What

Starting point is 00:06:41 are you thinking about this? This will be an improvement. It seems like it will be. I mean, you know, I think the biggest improvement for everybody is that they have acknowledged that you know moral combat is a fighting tournament And we're gonna actually do the tournament people are certainly taken aback by the first time It's up to them to earn. You know the rest of the movie I mean this certainly looks promising I would say feel like any fighting tournament movie is like a little bit of a conundrum, especially when it's based on a video game, because, you know, you want to see a good amount of just like direct fights.

Starting point is 00:07:12 You know, I feel like if anything sets you up for just like get as many characters fighting as possible and think about the reasoning behind that later, it's this kind of movie. So I'm curious to see how much the Johnny Cage story will like make it feel like a real movie But in terms of all the moral combat stuff that you want, I mean, you know, it's got a host of characters It looks like they're definitely focusing in on the gore and the fatalities So I mean this I feel like these will get people hyped anyway, and it's got promise. I think

Starting point is 00:07:42 this looks like a Significantly market improvement over the first one. Yeah Beyond just vision like visually it's more appealing the like just the overall look like at times It's it looks like the game in a way where it's just so bright and there's contrast and there's variations Where in the last one there's some like training temple ground and it felt really low budget and it kind of was right yeah and this time we're like we're going into the hell you know we're the under realm and then we're going to these different locations but it's the vibe that I'm loving so much I think it's such a smart choice to do this with Johnny Cage have him be the underdog and aged has been action star who's get a chance of redemption to be like a real action hero in real life and help save the world. Say help save our earth realm. I think it's so

Starting point is 00:08:33 smart and it completely changes the vibe and tones as opposed to like we are so serious and dramatic. Like it has a fun to it. This one actually looks it was it felt fun even when there wasn't violence happening because that is the magic of a Carl Urban and Carl Urban I think is doing such a damn good job. I mean like yeah the violence and everything yeah you look good the violence the last one was good like I thought the fatalities and the stuff they pulled off was great and the last one so none of that is a surprise. Like, it's cool to see. And I'm excited to see these characters come come into the fray

Starting point is 00:09:10 and be like Shao Kahn. I'm excited for them. Do Shao Kahn justice to Shao Kahn. Right. Like Mortal Kombat. The 90s, I think is a deal. I know you were does huge on it. I love that movie. I love that film. And then the sequel to that was a disaster and a massive disappointment. And they totally ruined Shao Kahn. Oh, no. And because the first one was a giant.

Starting point is 00:09:37 And then the second one is just awful. We haven't seen it. Annihilation. And yeah. So to do this and hopefully these guys who love the game and they actually have money this time in there Like real real money to play with and and like a big budget behind it. It's film for IMAX I think this time we're gonna get something that is such an improvement and they they know the game So they know how to and because they know the games they understand fandom and because they know I understand fan them I feel like they're gonna listen to the feedback of what happened in the last movie. And now they're going to really apply it how they can make this better.

Starting point is 00:10:08 And this is just the vibe of this. I'm actually doing a tournament feels different. Like the focus of everyone is is very like you got all the returning players. You can you got Sonya. You got a Jacks. You got everyone from the last one here who survived even got Sub-Zero and Sonya Scorpion, you know, coming in. Cano's back Kato's back. Yeah. even got Sub-Zero and Sonia, Scorpion, you know, coming in. Kano's back. Kato's back, yeah.

Starting point is 00:10:27 So because of that, I think I called him Kato. Did they? I called him Kato. Oh, well, you know. I got every, I guess, the, you know, should I get this on the spot? Well, you know, you get that thing where you're so excited and you're

Starting point is 00:10:38 processing multiple things at once. Maybe you just tried to say Kano and something else with a T. What are you going to do? But I think the tone of this just speaks to the idea that, yeah, they listen to some feedback. And they're like, it has that sort of like wry humor of, you know, we know we're going to get into some carnage, but we're also going to have some fun.

Starting point is 00:10:56 And part of the fun is going to be just how outlandish that carnage is going to be. And yeah, I feel like bringing Carl Urban in as your audience ciphers perfect because that probably will give this movie a lot of charm that'll then offset all the bone crunching and blood squirting and you know craziness that we're about to behold. And you know, just seeing him get recruited in the garage alone. This rating again. So you know, yeah, it's pretty sick. Yeah, exciting. I'm excited for man.
