The frat is led by Zac Efron (High School Musical, The Greatest Showman) in a career-redefining role as the over-the-top yet oddly charismatic Teddy Sanders, with Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist, Now You See Me) as his loyal right-hand man Pete. The cast also features standout comedic moments from Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad), Jerrod Carmichael (The Carmichael Show), Hannibal Buress (Broad City), and Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat, WandaVision), along with Lisa Kudrow (Friends) as the college dean. Neighbors balances raunchy humor with unexpected heart, diving into themes of growing up, identity, and the chaos of parenting—all set against a backdrop of prank wars, epic parties, and unforgettable stunts. Famous and highly searched scenes include the airbag prank, the breast milk fight, Zac Efron’s shirtless slow-motion montage, and the epic final frat party that escalates into full-blown neighborhood warfare. With pitch-perfect chemistry between its leads and sharp, R-rated humor, Neighbors became a massive box office success and a modern comedy staple. Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey react, break down, and laugh through every outrageous moment, from rogue fireworks to phallic sword fights—don’t miss it! Searchlight Pictures presents The Roses, only in theaters August 29th.
From the director of Meet the Parents and the writer of Poor Things comes The Roses,
starring Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman, Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch,
Andy Samburg, Kate McKinnon, and Alison Janney. A hilarious new comedy,
filled with drama, excitement, and a little bit of hatred, proving that marriage isn't
always a bed of roses. See The Roses only in theaters, August 29th.
Thank you to Huell for sponsoring this video.
More on them in just a bit.
Without further ado, let's jump into what I'm sure is about to be a lighthearted comedy
where there's no conflict or dysfunction.
Nope.
My Seth Rogen laugh.
Let's do this thing.
All righty, gang.
If you happen to be watching this and you made it to the end of the video,
leave a like. Don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell so you can be notified whenever any of these videos comes your way on a comedy Saturday or any other day.
Also, big thanks to the folks over Prepper for chopping this movie down because this must have been a real task and, you know, we appreciate them mightily for it.
Also, if you happen to be listening on Apple or Spotify, you know, leave us a little bit of a five-star rating.
you could, or, you know, however many stars you think is fair.
We'll just go with that.
But yes, as always, we got some questions from our patrons to kick things off to guide our Convo.
And, God, my mind, I'm still reeling a little bit.
All right, let's find the first question here.
Goodness gracious, there's a big, thick boy of a posted day.
All right.
Oh, we got a lot of questions?
Well, it's a big old post.
Oh, okay.
Making sure that we got the correct questions pulled up.
All right.
Here we go.
We're back.
We've done it.
Jules R.
Thank you so much for jumping in and joining the conversation.
A little clappy for the editors.
All right.
For neighbors, what did you think?
of the Zach Efron and Seth
Rogan team up would you like
to see more of them
oh yeah they're great
this was a really fun movie they surprisingly
had a very
great chemistry and I think
that I believe there's a neighbors too
I'm not mistaken but yeah you just confirm that
but yeah I think that you know
I associate Zach Ephron with doing
more serious stuff than comedy so
for him to enter this comedy lane
I think he fitted it
perfectly and not only him and
Zach Ephron had great chemistry but
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne also had amazing chemistry
so yeah I really enjoyed them and I would definitely want to watch
neighbors too and anything else that they just had to do together
yeah absolutely this was a good you know mix and match
because obviously they're a little bit opposite of type
but I felt like you know
while Zach Ephron certainly gets to play the handsome sexy guy
like they both got to do comedy they both got chances to be funny
both got chances to be the wacky guy
and the sort of straight man at times
and yeah I thought their rivalry was really fun
and their back and forth was really infectious
the improv seemed pretty on point
and yeah like I love a good
like I haven't seen Zach Efron in a ton of stuff
you know I'm very aware of his presence
and the various things he's been in
but yeah this was really fun to watch
anytime an actor that you associate with one thing
jumps into a different genre it's always a tree
and, yeah, to have, you know, teen heart throb, Zach Efron,
then jumping into this world of raunchy comedy.
Very funny, and he's got the chops, man.
I thought it was a very fun, both physical role,
but also character performance.
So, hell yeah, and I'm excited.
I hope we get to watch Neighbors, too,
because, I mean, yeah, this was a delight.
And it also didn't quite wrap up the way I had expected it, too,
which was kind of nice.
So, yeah, absolutely.
Next up, we got Kev B.
Kev B says this
for Neighbors 2014
Trivia
Seth Rogen and Zach Effron
actually took big pay cuts
so the film could spend
more on those insane party scenes
Oh wow
That's awesome
Yeah absolutely
Meanwhile that's good too
That's how you know people
Are invested in the project
All right
Judd Apatoe with the thanks there on the credits
Okay okay
Because yeah
Evercrombie and Fitch
That's funny Johnny Rockets
Got to get those
CityWalk credits in there
All right, so trivia.
Seth Rogen and Zach Efron
actually took big pay cuts
so the film could spend more
on those insane party scenes.
Meanwhile, the twins playing their baby
barely even cried on set,
totally unfazed by all the chaos around them.
Aw.
Question.
How do you think the mix of real family
and wild party madness worked?
Nice little tag at the end there
with the
I'm going to butcher the
Hebrew there
so if Hamish
Haq means game over
not bad
yes but anyway how do you think
the mix of real family and wild
party madness worked for you? Did it feel
balanced or weird at times?
No I think
it felt great
you know this is a situation
new parent having to be next
to a fraternity that's too loud
it's something
that you know I'm sure has happened
at some point in time and this just pitched up to the key of comedy and yeah i think it it was really
hilarious you know obviously you have to stretch your disbelief for some circumstances to kind of
unfold but even in that it was not a uh stretch i was that was resistant towards towards watching
because it only made the movie funnier so i was yeah i was thoroughly surprised and entertained
and yeah it was laughing almost at the point of tears multiple times in this movie so yeah
definitely worked. Yeah, I think it's
well pitched for what it is. I mean, obviously
it's a bit outlandish. It's certainly over
the top and, you know, you have
the back and forth of
you know, these people kind of
resisting their transition
into parenthood, into a quieter
life, into, you know,
leaving behind some of their wilder
days and whatnot. And then
yeah, combine that with, you know,
the insanity of the party. I mean, it
definitely is more modern. Like, you know, you, at
the end there, when they're with the baby and they're
having their nice little intimate coda moment like you know you see some paraphernalia on the table all right this is like a modern parenting portrait um but i thought yeah i didn't feel it was too weird i mean you know anything that's supposed to be you know shocking or outlandish is played as such i felt like and you know yeah i thought it was a fun back and forth of how much they want to be cool and accepted by these kids but also how much they realize that yeah like this isn't going to be on
harmonious union. These guys are way too rowdy and this situation is not ripe for a neighborhood
like this. Yeah, I mean, I feel like the party madness was appropriately mad and silly and outlandish
and it never, I don't think there was anything that, you know, broke too far beyond that.
You know, I think you got to ride the line a little bit, but I never felt like they either tried
something that just absolutely fell flat and did not work or like they, you know, went
way past the line of what's
appropriate. Like, you know, it's a bit edgy.
But, yeah, I thought it was
pretty decently handled in terms
of, you know, the wildness.
Certainly, you know,
you've got to keep that baby away from certain kinds
of contraband, but, you know, they did that, so you're
fine. Yeah.
Great. Yeah, I think it was pretty
nicely handled for the, you know, wild, madcap
kind of comedy this wants to be.
So, yeah, not too disturbed, but curious to hear your guys'
thoughts on this. Alisa S.
Thank you for chiming into the Convo for Aaron and John on Neighbors.
How would you rank this among the other raunchy comedies you've seen on the channel?
Do you have any nightmare neighbors stories like Greg shared once about the party house?
Oh, goodness.
Not really any nightmare neighbor stories in particular.
I mean, I've had some crazy, there were some crazy, like, dorm experiences back in the day living at school.
But thankfully, most of the places I've ever actually.
actually lived, haven't had much in the way of, like, neighbor-related chaos, thankfully.
No, I've never experienced something crazy like this to this degree.
I've never had a neighborhood rival.
Yeah, no, I'm not particularly, never experienced that.
But what I can say is that we watch a lot of movies here at this channel, as you guys
know, multiple upload today.
And, you know, we've seen a variety of different types of movies.
That said, I have to say this is probably in my top.
three comedies I've watched on the channel.
Hey, all right.
Yeah, okay.
This stands up with
airplane, with Koi, and then
Blues Brothers with you.
Blues Brothers was, I mean, you know,
that's got, I wouldn't necessarily say
that, like, raunchy comedy is the main
subcategory of comedy, but I
would say, like, there's definitely raunch in that movie,
and that was one of the most
fun, crazy, wild,
you know, unexpected
experiences.
For sure. Yeah, on this channel, certainly.
uh so hell yeah to that i'm trying to think of any other like super raunchy comedies we would have watched
i'm trying to pull up the comedy playlist to jog my memory right now um because yeah i mean you know like i
know who is it did you guys watch super bad somebody watched super bad on this panel me and terah watched
super bad was really fun i would like super bad as well heck yeah watch a ton yeah bring in uh that's the
thing is you watch so many movies on the channel that after a while you're like okay wait so what have i
What did I watch here?
Yeah, obviously because we
watch so many movies, the ones that stick out
immediately are the ones that take priority
in my mind.
So when the question was posed,
those were the first three to pop
up, or the first two, you know,
in relation to this one to pop up.
Yeah, I liked Euro Trip. The
Naked Gun movies have been fun.
But yeah, movies have gotten me so close
to crying tears,
this airplane and Blues Brothers.
Yeah, you guys have checked out a lot of, like, comedies that I love on this channel.
There's a lot of comedies that, I mean, Team America was pretty fun.
I feel like, yeah, the raunchy stuff is mostly been to people who aren't me on the channel.
Good boys.
Good boys was a lot of fun.
I do remember, yeah, watching the good boys.
The American Pie series.
Yeah, that one.
See, that's the thing is, yeah, you watch so much stuff.
You're like, you need a memory jog.
But, yeah, the American Pies caught me by surprise and did a nice job, I thought,
especially given the fact
that yeah like time is a little different now
and like sensibilities are a little bit different now
like that could have gone kind of wrong
but I felt like for the most
part it's easy to see what hasn't
aged perfectly but also those were really
charming really fun and yes
appropriately quite quite raunchy
you know we've had a good amount
of the Sandler movies that have been very fun
to watch
Happy Gilmores were great
yeah happy Gilmores both were very enjoyable
and whatnot but yeah I guess
you know the
comedy that always comes direct to mind
on this channel for me is Blues Brothers
and then yeah something in this
vein I feel like you know
the most this kind
of runchy comedy I feel like I have seen on the channel
would have been good boys and good boys was very
funny so
you know dumb and dumber but then you're getting out
into more like broad wackiness

was a fun one. Who did White Chicks
with? Me and Greg did White Chicks.
Oh, nice. Yeah. Yeah, this is a while ago.
That movie is... That movie is bonkers.
It's, you know, it's in some ways,
you know, the
B movie, you know,
I don't think
White Chicks is as well kind of
regarded as something like a neighbor's but it was still madcap and very funny so despite so appreciate that would be curious to hear some of your guys's favorite raunchy comedies
um let's see who else we got here on the q and a gabriel thank you so much for chiming in neighbors without naming them
i'd like to hear a bad neighbor's story from both of you bonus points if it's not safe for weik oh lord
Man.
Okay, well, I have a neighbor's story, but it's not like a bad story necessarily.
I was out for a walk in the neighborhood.
This is just kind of neat.
This isn't a bad neighbor's story, though.
I feel like I haven't had it.
I've had tricky roommates.
I guess I guess one time I came home to the dorm, and I found my roommate in the lobby.
and he was like headed out but he was clearly quite intoxicated
and you know I went back up to the room where the other two guys were
we were four people to a room and then like five minutes later there's a knock on the door
and I come to the door and I peered out the people
and I just see our dude on the ground with like two officers
and it was a very much like is this yours situation
and then it came down to this conversation
about like you can either keep him here
but I think the best thing for us to do is just to take him
and let him sleep this off
and then help him sort of the life out.
Oh, geez.
So yeah, I mean there were, I have a lot of like,
yeah, wacky dorm stories like that
but not, yeah, a ton of like
really bad neighbor scenarios.
Thankfully, I mean, you know.
So, yeah, I've never had any destructive neighbors per se.
Yeah, I wish I had like a juicy story.
No, the one thing I can think of that came to mind was there used to be my neighbor that lived across the street for me, which I never saw.
Like, I can rarely ever even recall seeing this person when they lived there.
But I remember one day out of nowhere, there was a police raid at that house.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
But I remember the garage being open and it was just like filled to the brim with like boxes.
And crap, like, it seemed like they're, like, a major hoarder.
And from what I remember, I think they were, like, a cybercriminal.
Like, they were like, yeah, they're on the FBI list.
Hell yeah.
So, yeah, that's the only thing.
Not a good neighbor.
I never saw the guy, at least not I can remember, but he definitely did some stuff that the P-P, that the Popo were not happy with.
The Pope did not appreciate.
No, sir.
All right.
I'll keep racking my brain, but, yeah, unfortunately, I don't have many juicy bad neighbor stories.
It's just been too many polite people.
around me.
But appreciate you guys, and hey, leave them down
the comments if you so desire.
All right.
Clean clap, there we go.
Jay Rushden, thank you so much
for jumping in. Neighbors.
Speaking of geographical neighbors, would you
guys ever visit Canada or Mexico?
Definitely not. Either
one. Not about it. Yeah, I would
love to. Mexico is the only
place I have ever visited outside the country
at this point in time as a few
Really? Yeah. Been to Mexico.
one time. Never been to Canada.
I would love to go to Canada. Oh, dude. I would also love
to go to Canada. Go back to Mexico. I'll go Canada
first time. I've only been to Mexico
technically on cruises, but I would love to
just go just to see
what it's like overall.
You know, particularly, preferably
the parts that aren't run by the cartel.
But the other
parts, yeah, I'd be down for that.
Same thing with Canada.
I don't know what's going on over there.
I need to try some authentic
Canadian bacon. Some authentic.
authentic maple syrup.
Some authentic poutine.
Yes, yes.
Go to the land of Drake and Ryan Reynolds.
See what's going on over there.
That's what I'm trying to find a grout.
There was one time there was a guy being surveilled by a private eye on our block.
Oh.
Never really found out what it was about, though.
Private eye.
Watching you.
Private eye.
They're watching you, watching you.
Oh.
You know that song?
Yes and.
What? That's a great song.
If only, you have to send it to me afterwards.
I will.
But, yeah, absolutely.
Canada, Mexico. Let's do it.
Sign me up.
Thank you so much, Jay.
All righty.
Moving right along.
Lots of questions for other movies.
Neighbors. Here we go.
Jaden Rhodes.
Thank you so much for chiming in.
Neighbors.
I love to see Seth Rogen in this role
because 10 years prior, I feel like
he would have been the Dave Franco,
he would have been Dave Franco's character
while Zach Efron would be played by James Franco.
But how did y'all feel about Seth Rogen
playing this type of role?
I would agree. I mean, this is, yeah,
it's the perfect way for him,
or it's a very conscientious way,
for him to be in, again, you know,
a kind of comedy that he got famous for making,
a very raunchy, you know,
sort of character, banter-based comedy,
but also, yeah, to embrace.
race the fact that he's a bit older now he's in a different walk of life and so yeah instead of
being the young you know irreverent dude he's the middle-aged irreverent dude and it works yeah
i thought it worked great yeah absolutely i would like to see more of these mature
immature comedy well considering this movie is now 11 years removed from the time we're watching it
it's only going to get more mature that's right that's right get him in like you know four
1K mode in the next one.
Check in with them in their 50s when they're
moving into a retirement home
next day. People in their 50s moving
to retirement home. I think
that's all for our Q&A today. Thank you guys
so much for chiming in. I'm sorry
we didn't have any more bad neighbor. I'm going
to just be racking my brain the rest of the day
for bad neighbor stories, but any other
stray thoughts on the film? No.
I thought it was a great time, really funny.
I think everybody had great
chemistry. Some characters are out of pocket
and I'm excited to see more of them.
Absolutely. I enjoyed the main cast. Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen have great chemistry. I love that Roseburn is so game for so much comedy, especially because, like, you know, my main introduction and association with her was through dramatic work.
Yeah. She's a great dramatic actress. And oftentimes, you know, people with those level of chops can make comedy that much funnier.
Eich Berenholz was crazy in this. You know, Zach F. Ron, obviously really funny. And the supporting cast of characters, I think Dave Frank.
and Zach Evron
had a really fun relationship
and there were just elements
that didn't quite go the way I was expecting
the escalation made a lot of sense
and the fact that it doesn't end off
in a way where it's like oh you know what actually
we are going to live next door with each other in harmony
you know it makes me wonder what neighbors too could be
and you know how they will maneuver
you know these characters back together
but yeah I thought it was really fun comedy
it was you know like you see certain people on screen
like Chris Minz Plus or drug
Carmichael Hannibal Burris
I like that they all got moments
Part of you is like oh man cool they're going to be part of the ensemble
It's not so much of an ensemble movie that way
Like it's really kind of like
The triangle at the center is Seth Rogen Roseburn
And Zach Efron and then you have you know your sort of cluster
Of supporting characters who are fun
Like Lisa Kudrow fun to have them appear
Not the main focus though
But yeah like very much lived up to the raunchy
Fratboy friggin vibe
And yeah like
and just a sort of character debate about, you know,
yeah, growing up, accepting that you're growing older,
not wanting to grow older.
I thought the little crossroads represented by the space
between their two houses and what the two lifestyles represent
was like kind of nice within all these crazy hijinks.
Yeah, they're both in their own way represented fear of change
and fear of the next chapter, which I appreciated, you know,
it kind of took a turn for Zach Efron's character towards the second half of the movie
for that being the pivot rather than, you know, being,
be able to maintain the legacy of the party
but then underneath that was
fear of what happens beyond the party
so yeah I think they added some
nice nuance
and real life concerns and fears
for people that are of that life
and of that age and same for
the parents so yeah it was
truthful in its own way
but also ridiculous in the best way
absolutely and to close us out
I'm going to tell you a cool neighbor's story
has happened to me
I don't live
in this place anymore, and neither does the person
who this was about, but I was out for
a walk, my mom, like
a long time ago, and
we were strolling up, you know,
this one little cul-de-sac street, and
all of a sudden, this car rolls
out of the drive, backs out of the driveway, and, you know, we're
turning around the cul-de-sac, didn't think much of it,
but by the time we got back down to
the halfway point of the street, couldn't help
but notice, this car is just chilling here, just
kind of chilling where the curb meets
the street, you know, that little, like,
you know, point where the
radiance starts. So the tires are just resting
on that, and it's at an angle. And I'm like, okay, this is
very strange. Someone, did they get out?
Do they move? Car's not running. Cars not moving
at all. Cars are doing nothing.
So we're like, okay, this is strange.
There's no evidence of people here, except
for the fact that this car backed out.
And when we were walking up the street, it looked kind of like
someone was actually backing out their car. Not so.
So I went to the front door.
And I was looking through the window. I was like, oh, dang,
Houdini posters and shit. This is crazy.
So I knock on the door,
wait for a couple seconds.
And, you know, ready to tell the person that, you know, go get their car.
Who should come to the door?
But Neil Patrick Harris.
What?
And it was just one of those things.
And I was like, your car.
We just found the car on the street.
And he was like, oh, my God, thank you so much.
And he, like, ran out and fixed the car.
And that was that.
And that wasn't the first neighbor story that came to your mind.
But it's a good neighbor.
Like, it's not a bad neighbor's story.
It's a good neighbor's story.
So, near Patrick Harris, was your neighbor?
For a brief moment.
for a brief shining moment
and his house was a really cool Halloween
stop. They would do cool things in the garage.
He just had Houdini posters
everywhere? He just had Houdini post. He's a big
magic guy. He's well
renowned as a magicman.
He's like on the board of the Magic Castle
I think even too. I would have never guessed that
was at the door. That's who was at the door
is that clue. Would it make sense?
NPH-H bro.
Freaking-Aid, dude.
Maybe the, you know, private eyes were watching him
trying to see what next project was coming out.
I'm trying to get those way before the Matrix resurrections
so they wouldn't be able to get those secrets.
But anyway, that was a fun neighbor's story.
That was a very delightful neighbor's story.
But yeah, leave all your good and bad neighbor stories
in the comments below,
and we will catch you hopefully for neighbors too at some point
and whatever else is coming your way.
Much love, people. Do you well.
Duce's.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
