Nobody Full Movie Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects Start your online business with a $1 per-month trial when you visit https://www.shopify.com/reject...s! From the people behind John Wick! Nobody Reaction & Review w/ Aaron Alexander & Roxy Striar, they react to the explosive action thriller directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry) and written by Derek Kolstad (John Wick). Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad) stars as Hutch Mansell, an underestimated suburban dad whose suppressed past as a deadly government “auditor” resurfaces after a home invasion pushes him over the edge. Co-starring Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, Wonder Woman) as Hutch’s wife Becca, Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future trilogy, Taxi) as his trigger-happy father David, RZA (American Gangster, The Man with the Iron Fists) as his resourceful half-brother Harry, and Aleksei Serebryakov (Leviathan, McMafia) as ruthless Russian mob boss Yulian Kuznetsov. Famous and highly searched scenes include the brutal bus fight where Hutch single-handedly takes down a gang, the improvised home-defense finale in his booby-trapped warehouse, the tense karaoke club confrontation with Yulian, and the shocking reveal of Hutch’s true skills. With bone-crunching choreography, dark humor, and a breakneck pace, Nobody has become a modern cult action favorite alongside the John Wick franchise, delivering cathartic wish-fulfillment and rewatchable set pieces fans can’t stop talking about. More on them in just a bit.
It is a happy Wednesday.
I know it's not Thursday.
It's actually comedy day, baby.
Are you ready to do this, dude?
I am.
All right.
Without further delay, nobody.
Somebody.
Us.
We're going to watch nobody.
Here we go.
We will get to the Patreon questions in a little bit, but before we do that,
um i want your thoughts on the movie in general uh are you able to multitask here you need me to kickstar us
am able to multitask i thought this is a really fun movie i think this was the perfect surprise little action movie uh for the 20 20s
would you call this an action comedy after seeing it i would say this is an action movie with with hints of
comedy yeah yeah throughout you know it's not a co-lead in those two categories yeah yeah yeah
It had a lot of a heart and was very dramatic at times, too.
So it's like an action dromedy potentially.
But in general, past your expectations under, how do you feel?
Hmm.
I feel good.
It's a really fun, well-paced action movie.
It won't buy really fast.
It was a really fast hour and a half.
Yeah, it did.
It definitely soared, especially with us coming in with like all of our tech
issues and whatever sometimes things just drag but this like absolutely flew uh it is only 92 minutes
which was the perfect length for this it's not like we needed more story to it was kind of a simple
story about a guy who left the life behind came back to it based on an incident that took place
we didn't really reconnect with the family but i'm assuming we're going to do that and nobody too
and based on a little bit of the press that i've seen from it so far i think it's got the same cast we're
picking back up with so i'm with you i really like this movie
I thought this movie was super, super solid.
I haven't heard that much about it.
I just like Bob, but I thought this was really worthwhile action movie.
It was kind of like a smaller movie.
And because of that, they really focused on the tunes, the relationships, and the action sequences.
And just nailing those things.
And it was nice to see those very, very well done.
Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree.
I think they did a phenomenal job with that.
And it looks like we do have some questions here.
Any other general thoughts before we get to those patron questions?
Bob Gordon-Clerc did a really great job.
I love Christopher Lloyd in this movie.
I love the way that the action was shot.
They had a way of filming it that felt very visceral in the sense that this is a guy who is
believably not only very efficient at what he does, but who has been out of the game for a while.
So he's not necessarily on top of his game.
But he's still proficient in the fact that he's able to kick people.
was like when he gets back on the bus sequence is like a little rusty it takes a second and then he's like no no I'm gonna come back on the bus and I'm about to legitimately kick the crap out of you yeah but then like once he had that unlocked it was you know he was pretty much the Terminator after that but yeah I think that first scene was really believable it made him seem like a really cool sort of action star and I'm happy that there's a sequel I'm down to see where it goes from here kind of set up for a sequel at the end there how did you feel about the Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday set up at the beginning I liked it because I think it established that this guy
has kind of fallen into routine and he's kind of been dormant in his mundanity and the incident
because if he seemed like someone who was kind of sleepwalking through life and then once the
thing happened with the kitty cat bracelet he was ignited again and the way that his brother
framed it as if it was like a relapse he'd kind of like a switch had come back on him and like
okay he couldn't turn it off like this is who he is and he can't um you know pretend that he's not that
for the future right right yeah that worked for me
me too you want to get some of these questions from our people sure well too what do you think
girl i told all them but you were doing all the tech stuff so i did i told them i like the movie a lot
that was really good on monday tuesday oh that that worked for me um i was really happy when it wasn't
i i get nervous sometimes and sometimes it works the days of the week set up but i thought
we were about to see a movie that was broken up into the seven act like one monday tuesday what
you know and i like them when we quickly were like no no we're going through the weeks really
quick and it was a good way to intro to show us
kind of what he's been dealing with
but I will say
if your job is trash
to my man, my future man
my future children
you've got to get that trash out the night before
it's crucial
it's crucial it is crucial you can't build up
on the trash because there's nowhere for it to go
and that's stanky in the garage
going to the Patreon questions thank you guys so much
as our royal rejects if you want to ask us questions
we answer them every single time
from you guys. You ask the best questions. Questions
better than even we could ask each other.
And we're so grateful for you guys for doing that. So go join
today. Here we go. Lobster.
What's up?
How do you feel this movie stacks up against
other movies similar to it? John Wick, Equalizer,
et cetera, et cetera.
I guess I'm going to piggyback
on this, Aaron, and just ask you a follow-up question
to their question. Do you feel
that this movie was trying to stack up against it?
When they say similar to it, did you feel this was similar to
equalizer and John Wick?
Only in the sense that this is like about a guy who was retired and then comes back into
the game.
It's a common genre of action movie.
I've only seen the Equalizer three.
I haven't seen one and two.
So I don't know.
Weird place to start.
Yeah.
You know, some friends are like, you want to go see a movie?
And I was like, sure.
Why not?
Oh, Equalizer's so good.
Yeah, so I need to see the other equalizers.
Have you seen John Wicks?
I've seen three and a half John Wicks.
I've not seen Ballerina.
But I've seen each of them once
And I remember really liking them
What was the half one?
So I saw
The John Wick 4
It was really late
And I may have fallen asleep
I fell asleep.
I fall asleep during John Wig
But
Was it on that channel?
No, I haven't
No
I haven't watched any John Wicks
for the channel
But yeah
I think that
I probably prefer
John Wick
because of this
the lore that it builds around the killing and stuff, but I feel like for this movie and what
it establishes that, what it established in the beginning, plus the audience's knowledge of
Bob Odenkirk as an actor, not necessarily perceiving him to be somebody who's an action star
and seeing how proficient he is at that, it contradicts or subvers your expectations for
how we perceive him as a performer. So I think for that alone, plus the style, the needle drops,
really makes this a movie that kind of stands
toe to toe in the mountain
that is those type of action movies.
Yeah, I think that I mentioned
John Wick a couple times in this.
You happen to mention two franchises,
John Wick and Equalizer that I love.
The reason I kept referencing
John Wick during this was because of the
kitty cat brace that was reminding me of John Wick with his
dog. You know, that was similar
tones, but I don't feel like
this stacks is trying to stack up against this.
This would seem like a much smaller movie.
You know, like,
There are John Wick scenes with 5,000 background actors,
like even the club scene for John Wick versus the club scene here.
This was just a much smaller, shorter, tighter movie.
This felt like I would have to look it up,
but I have to assume this was significantly smaller budget
than both Equalizer and John Wick.
And it did have a lot of comedic notes.
And also, Keanu Reeves and Denzel Washington are both, like,
known super action kickbutt stars,
you would never think that
Bob Odenkirk would do the same things
that Keanu or Denzel would do, you know?
I've never seen Man on Fire.
I think that's an action movie, but...
You didn't see Man on Fire?
I would love to, they reacted to it,
so if anyone on the channel else hasn't reacted to it,
I would love to, because I've heard that's nothing but great.
I mean, it is, like, truly incredible that movie.
I hear it is.
That movie's amazing.
Because I haven't seen movies like that,
I don't associate Denzel with action necessarily.
Even after Equalizer?
I mean, that's the only thing I've seen about.
So, like, it's very late into his career.
He has a lot of action movies.
We'd have to look it up.
Oh, his training day.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, he's like kick ass.
And, like, what other stuff is he?
And pretty ripped and, like, looks like he could be an action star.
And we should look it up, actually, to see some of what Denzel's other action movies are.
But I've seen him in a bigillion different things.
Yeah, obviously, Training Day.
even in Book of Eli
like let's see
gladiator
he does not really do action gladiator
though as much
Equalizer
one two and three
I didn't see two guns
but it's a total action movie
that's the Walberg one right
yeah there
Unstoppable
I don't remember inside man as much
Man on fire
in John Q
he kind of it's like an emotional arc
but he does do some action stuff
I haven't seen John Q
I don't even never heard of it
John Q? No
I don't know who that is
Is Danzel
I imagine so
He's the title character
He's lead
Oh my God
That movie
That is amazing
It's like a thriller though
It's not like full-blown action
But he does do some stuff
Yeah so I mean I think
I just named a bunch of things.
Well, it looks like I got a lot of movies of Denzel to watch.
Yeah, you got some of Denzel stuff to watch.
But I'm just saying, like, he's a more natural fit.
Same thing with Keanu when you think action star.
As opposed to Bob Odenkirk, which maybe it's not fair,
but because his most famous role is like a little more bumbling and figuring it out
and like trying to get out of things, I didn't know how it was going to be in this.
So I think it stacks up differently.
And I like that he wasn't trying to do what Keanu does or what Denzel does.
he was, like, playing to his own strengths, and I thought he did a great job.
Yeah, he's definitely more of a comedic actor, and I think he had a show with, like, David Cross in the 90s, early 2000s.
Like, they have their own thing together.
But, yeah, I think this was great.
And I'm excited to see nobody to, and whatever action stuff he decides to do, because he's really good at it.
Here we go.
Mike Joyce, the director talked about wanting to do a crossover with John Wick.
Would you want to see that?
Wow, that would be wild.
No, I don't think I would want to see that.
I mean, why not?
I'm going to say the cliche thing of what all actors say is that, you know, it depends on the story.
It depends on the scripts.
You know, if they find a way to get those two actors together in a way that feels satisfying and organic, why not?
You know, there are two guys who were out of the life that got pulled back into the life.
Well, he, John Wick was going after revenge.
I feel like Bob Odenkirk was more just looking for an excuse to break up the mundanity of his life.
And his daughter's missing bracelet was the perfect excuse.
he needed to, you know, relapse for lack of a better time.
I just don't see them, like, the energies vibing as much.
The director is named Ilya Nus Scholar.
I don't know.
He also directed Hardcore Henry, Heads of State.
Do you know him?
No.
I've heard of Hardcore Henry.
I think Heads of State is that movie that just came out with your man's.
Idgeselba and John Sinai.
Yeah, it is.
And John Sina and Priyanka Chopra.
and Patty Constantine.
What?
And Carla, wow, there's a lot.
Jack Quaid, there's a huge cast.
I don't know he was in that.
But yeah, it was a straight to Amazon movie.
So I don't think that that crossover,
but I would watch it.
Yeah.
You know, I'm always done to be surprised.

Resident Z, I'm sure other actors like Keanu Reeves or Tom Cruise would have played the part,
but do you think casting Bob Odenkirk worked better for this movie because he isn't associated
with action movies and nobody in the genre? How do you feel? Uh, yeah.
I feel exactly that way.
And thank you for the question.
Yeah, it was funny because you end up entering questions to come in previous questions.
Right.
But, yeah, I wholeheartedly believe that's why he was perfect for this movie.
He is a nobody in the action genre.
He is somebody who would never consider to be an action star because of what we associate him with over the course of his career, primarily for me being Breaking Bad.
But, yeah, I think he worked perfectly.
And because of that nobodyness, so to speak, I think that he is.
would be prime for some sort of crossover or, you know, see how he develops in the future as a action lead.
This starring Tom Cruise would have been nothing.
Yeah, this is another role for him.
He's too charismatic and too charming for that.
So also Tom Cruise, like, it had to have been more stunt stuff.
Like, I just, I feel like I agree with you completely on everything he said.
Kev B. Trivia.
Bob Odenkirk spent two years training hard before and during filming nobody, putting in countless hours.
learning, fight choreography, boxing, and martial arts.
Thanks to all that prep, most of the fight scenes you see on screen are actually him performing
his own stunts.
That's awesome, dude.
I think he looked amazing.
And I think that that's why Aaron and I were so surprised with how great he was, because
he must have put in so much training for this because he looked so natural.
And you could tell that a lot of it was actually him.
There's very, very few moments where I was like, I wonder if that that's a stunt person
because he really, they stayed on his face and they stayed in the same shot a lot.
So I thought that he did a great job.
Yeah, really badass.
I thought, yeah, he was phenomenal on it.
He had a question for us, though.
He said, if you found out your quiet, everyday neighbor actually had a wild secret life like Hutch,
do you think you'd want to grab coffee with them and hear their story or maybe double-check your locks tonight?
Did the movie make you look at the folks around you a little differently or even wonder what hidden stories they might have, Aaron?
Huh.
That's a funny question.
I didn't thought about that, but now you are.
But now I am thinking about it, and I'm putting in this context.
Depends on how much I know about them, to be honest.
Probably not.
I probably want to stay clear of that dude, because I just don't know him that well.
But I think for the fun of the question, why not?
I'll talk to him.
I'll come up with some questions to interview him or to just pick his brain about.
I'm more weary of his neighbor who was, like, not upset about his dad dying and just excited to have a car.
He never saw him again.
Yeah, the guys are creep.
Yeah, I don't think this made me look differently about people as much as some other movies have, but I am a curious person.
I'm, like, the most curious person ever, so I don't think I'd be able to help it if I knew who's next door.
I'd have so many questions.
Oh, yeah.
I got to ask them.
How did you, yeah, how did you design your house like that?
It would have to take you.
Yeah.
Jay rushed him for our last question
and says the main star is the cat at the end
and what comedy bit is in this made you laugh
I think the first one
where it kind of broke and we realized
there was comedy in the movie where he's like
what happened if a fucking getting cat bracelet
just such a like a wild
out of pocket thing to make
but the the seriousness
in which he takes it is what makes it so funny
and I think that
yeah he's babbled
Kirk is one of the comedic minds of Hollywood,
and for him to infuse some of this action star character into this was a nice touch.
I completely agree with you.
I just also think it's a little bit of a funny premise, you know,
because he's like the every man.
And then what he's doing is it just is a little humorous at times.
I also really love Christopher Lloyd's delivery on a lot of different things where, you know,
he's just excited to be back in the game and some of that stuff was really funny.
Like when the guy comes in and Christopher Lloyd's got the guy.
guy in his lap but he's playing the TV loud and that was that was a good bit too it's like yeah
he's still got it yeah he's awesome he's awesome he I love that he still loves to work and like
he's in so many movies still and totally understands assignment every time what's happening oh I'm
gonna I don't I don't do all the the stats stuff like Andrew the only one I really care to do is
the rotten tomato score oh okay cool so we are done with those patron questions thank you again
to the Royal Rejects, and then we'll
hear what Aaron has said, and then we will
GTFO and keep it short, just the same
way nobody did. Nobody did
it. Okay.
Do you want to know? Yeah, tell me.
Got 84%
from the critics?
And was it higher or lower
for? Audiences? Yeah.
It was slightly lower because audiences
were 94. Don't love this.
Audience was 94?
Audiences 94, critics were 84.
So it was higher then?
Oh, yeah. My bad.
Okay.
No worries.
So people like this.
People loved it.
We loved it.
We did.
We're people.
We are the people.
We are the people.
We are the people.
We all nobody is one.
Very good point.
Aaron, any last minute thoughts?
No, this is great.
I look forward to watching Nobody, too, seeing where the story goes.
Maybe they go to Italy.
Who knows?
Oh, that would be good.
Yeah.
Nobody vacation.
See you guys for Nobody, too.
Later, Rejects.
Thank you.
