Starting point is 00:01:05 I hope you edited this well otherwise Tara's gonna call you out you look like a dummy on the internet and no one ever forgets what happens on the internet they think about it for days on end uh huh anyway
Starting point is 00:01:21 um hey this was a good time I had fun I have positives I have negatives I have in-betweens I have it all but I don't want to go first
Starting point is 00:01:32 I want to go with Tara I loved it Tara what do you think oh you just okay just stay out of it I bet listen my most favorite things about these films is that they do shut up
Starting point is 00:01:46 okay sorry is they do a lot of oners and yes some of them have hidden cuts but specifically the one right in the middle where they just kept rolling and rolling and there's special effects included where, like, she changes a dress. There's confetti.
Starting point is 00:02:00 It's wild. I don't even know how you would direct such a thing. I mean, obviously, a little bit, maybe I know, but my assumption is that took a good three to four days just to shoot that. I love the writing in these. I just think it's super smart. And I like the chemistry with everybody.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Yes, Greg was, where's the OG? Like, I want to see the OG people. I'm sure the only one is like Bosco. She's impersonating him. He would have shut up about it. And then the new ones, they grew on us, on all of us. And I think what they do best is, obviously, they do great casting. And I had a lot of fun with this story because the vengeance, specifically, from Charlie to the Vander, I wanted to say Vander Pump.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Vander Bird. Vander, wait, no, I wrote it, Vanderberg to the Vanderburgs is awesome because they gave us that preface of that they're freaking Nazis, right? So you're like, kill them all, loved it. Got to love a Nazi. Anyway, Andrew, what's your take on Nazis?
Starting point is 00:03:10 Tell us. They're very nice people. That's what I mean, misunderstood. Very misunderstood. Yeah, we've been wrong about them this whole time. I enjoyed this film. It was very entertaining. I had a great time. I was on Greg.
Starting point is 00:03:23 side slightly early on with, I definitely want to see more of the OG, but I understood why they were showing the new crew, the new trio. And I actually liked the way they were interacting, especially with Jesse Eisenberg, seeing the clash between the newer magic versus the older magic. And it was fascinating to see Jesse Eisenberg being now the wise and the sage versus where he used to be. And I thought that was an interesting full circle moment for him, too, seeing where he had gone from the first film on to here in the third film. But also when you see the implications on where the
Starting point is 00:03:59 twist ended up going, it made a lot of sense. Also, to get us invested with this new trio as well, it made sense to give them the screen time that they got in the first 20 or 30 minutes or so. So I understand a lot
Starting point is 00:04:15 more of having seen the film now. But yeah, I'm glad we got Ila Fisher back. She was very much missed in the second film as much as I like having Lula in the film as well. And it was nice to have three female characters instead of one. We got two. We got three now.
Starting point is 00:04:32 And I do agree with Tara. I really love the chemistry between all these actors. All their interactions are so much fun. And yeah, I was slightly starting to think, too, with, like, Bosco's characters, like, wow, that was quite a quick arc that he had where he's, like, finally changing now. I'm like, but then when you found out it's really this a lot. elaborate twists and plot between the three of them. And this was their plan all along. I'm like, okay, this makes a lot more sense. And I'm a little more lenient now on that. And that's what
Starting point is 00:05:02 the film hinges on is that twist. So I was also, too, these films are not very introspective and deep in that sense. They're more of just, there are heist films that are illusioned as, you know, with magic and all this. And they're just meant to be fun and entertaining. So I was a little more forgiving when it came to that, when it came to arcs and stuff like that. But overall, all I had a great time. It was a lot of fun. I'm just here for the magic and the fun of it. And also the action, the choreography, I thought was very creative and inventive. They did some really fun stuff, especially when we saw earlier on with June's character, we saw her spider manning or spider-guining it up the wall. And like, I love when they plant little seeds like that. And then when we actually see her in an action sequence, yeah, we got two, 300-pound dudes. You're like, how she's supposed to really fight guys like that? No, they actually set that up in the scene for her to move around acrobatically like them. Like, I actually to buy that because they set it up in a way for her to move you know in a way like that so
Starting point is 00:05:58 I like when they take their time and also you could tell Ruben Fleischer it was nice to have a different director this almost feels before Christopher Macquarie took over I'm not comparing I'm just saying I like that they change up directors give a different visual and stylistic approach to each filmmaker doing their own thing
Starting point is 00:06:15 in the first movie you had Louis Lettier who did The Incredible Hulk and several other films and then you had John Chu just we now know has been doing the wicked films lately. And then you got Ruben Fleischer, who I'm such a big fan of with the last two zombie land films. Love those. They're so much
Starting point is 00:06:31 fun, but you can tell he's having a blast, and it's nice to see him reuniting with Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson. You can tell he's very comfortable working with the actors on set. And yeah, a lot of fun. What about you, Greg? How are you feeling? What are your strengths of the film? What are the weaknesses?
Starting point is 00:06:47 Give us the juice. What'd you write down, Tara? I wrote down names. You want me to read them? Sure. Okay. There's Merritt, Atlas. Jay Wilder, Lula.
Starting point is 00:07:02 We knew all these. Banderberg. Mark, you didn't know that that was the name of the photographer who came and he went. Okay? Bosco, June, Charlie. Veronica, she makes all the worst people in the world possible. Okay? And all the good ones have a trust in the tale.
Starting point is 00:07:18 That's what I wrote down. That first scene with Veronica really let me know she was bad. they set it up really nicely in that scene yeah she was bad the positives the positives well I'll tell you what the positives are this is not my notes the positives are
Starting point is 00:07:37 very fun like the action scenes are the silly magic that is really implausible and when they can't explain it they choose not to because they can't it's impossible You just can't do it Those are my favorite
Starting point is 00:07:55 Like the crazy oneer shot That Tara was talking about With the tracking and they're all Playing the game of Hot Potato with the magic And seeing their different skill sets And we're trying to one up each other the whole time They're playing tit for tat And also helping each other out
Starting point is 00:08:10 It's a fun game of improv And that scene is my favorite kind of stuff From now you see me Where you're like They're not going to try to tell us at all How they're doing this But I'm supposed to buy that this is some type of illusion
Starting point is 00:08:23 since I have a magic trick and not a bunch of CGI that's the best stuff, that's the most fun stuff. And Ruben Fletcher, I would agree, does know how to provide that that razzle-dazzle to this whole experience because if you
Starting point is 00:08:38 can't find the authentic joy, the authentic fun that comes out of chase sequences, crazy set pieces, elaborate magic sequences, and also fun deception. that is the biggest fault that will happen.
Starting point is 00:08:55 You put story, characters, whatever. That all is kind of like secondary to the end. That's supposed to be something that uplifts all those things that we're talking about. That's a big part of what makes this really fun. But we were pretty, I mean, other than the fact that we, it wasn't just as, but none of us guessed it was Justice Smith. No. But we're all like, it's got to be the sun, right?
Starting point is 00:09:18 Like, I mean, one of us said it, right? Was it me? I think you said it And then I said it like 10 minutes later And you're like, Andrew, I already said that. Yeah, it seemed like that was the most obvious thing And then then breaking out And it could call, a good catch on the diamond ringy
Starting point is 00:09:33 Thingy, Melanie, she's the best If you ever get into a escape situation. She always gets that shit. Oh, Tara's been kidnapped. Seriously, what has happened to you in the past? Tara's had to learn from failure. Yeah, I really have. She's managed to just cook up a lot of different shenanigans
Starting point is 00:09:48 in order to get, actually, the McGiber around here. Piled up a lot of failure. successes yeah no where are they they just can't see them that's the greatest magic red trick right there hide the successes yes i i still do kind of feel though that they slighted our main cast a little bit by the end because they don't give them the reward as a fan of this franchise they don't get the reward of being able to do some type of great magic thing and actually like in the very end of it they break out without magic at all like it is just them go and break you know i guess there's some type of reward payoff too when you think about like mark ruffalo's father of how he died and then
Starting point is 00:10:30 the thing with the sand and putting all that together yes that's somewhat rewarding and their chemistry is still so good and as people who waited like maybe not for for these two but you know i saw now you see me one and i see me two around the time they came out so i have waited a very long time for now you see me three to come out so as someone who waited a long time for the sequel i still feel like even if i hadn't waited that long i might have a similar type of opposition that i wish they did weave in like give the magic people the new people let them do exactly what they did but also give our horsemen the main people we show up for an opportunity to do some magic shit too that is a cool reward and pull back the veil
Starting point is 00:11:20 and whatever, let them be involved in some way instead of them just being a prop for the new people. Instead of just being some ploy for the new people. And I was actually more intrigued at the thought of Mark Ruffalo telling them there's going to be consequences for what you did. Yeah, me too. I was like, oh, boy, cut. That would have been exciting.
Starting point is 00:11:39 It ups the stakes. Yeah. Instead, they're like, no, man, you can bullshit your word. Fellow rejects, maybe you'll identify with what I'm about to say. I've never had the healthiest relationship with money. It's not because I'm a big spender or something like that. I just my entire life carried around this general anxiety around it. A constant fear that I'm going to lose everything.
Starting point is 00:12:03 When I don't have much, I'm never going to gain anything. Because, yeah, like I'm a family, fought about money all the freaking time. And, you know, we lost our home to bankruptcy when I was, like, much younger. And even though I'm a grown adult now, that fear has just never evaporated. And that is why, with today's sponsor, I signed up for them before they ever partner with us. That is Acorns. I'm going to explain it to you in the most simple way because it's simple to use. Starting point is 00:14:00 To start growing your money smarter, not harder. Thank you again. Welcome to the eye. Yeah. Or you could have even had it end. Not saying it had to, but you could add it end on we're going to go on a rescue mission for Dylan, too, to prepare for the next one. Yeah, because they're clearly setting up apart. that we'll get in like 15 to 20 years from now or something. Whatever. I hope it comes sooner than later.
Starting point is 00:14:20 I heard some rumor that it would be coming sooner. Because, yeah, it took me a while to get on board with the new cast, mainly because they're new people. I didn't come here to see them. I had no idea that there would be some type of passing a baton. And from the beginning, I thought they were already fine, but they weren't the magnetism that you get from the main core. So for me, I was going, why is there so much focus on people who are.
Starting point is 00:14:45 who are good, but they're not the magnetic side that I, as a fan of this, really wanted. Eventually, though, when the balance of screen time started to happen in the last half, then I started really getting more on board for them, even when they were
Starting point is 00:15:01 cutting back and forth. And ultimately, the reveal with Justice Smith is great, and the big magic reveal that it was all their machination is pretty cool. And it justifies the amount of screen time that they had that kind of overtook everyone. else's you know like i do feel like they had more screen time i think jesse isenberg probably had the
Starting point is 00:15:20 most screen time out of the main four uh or the main horseman but then the the other the new cast i think got the more screen time than then and uh yeah like lizzie kaplan is returning though a lot too i thought yeah like even though the big deal was ila fisher's back i think lizzie kaplan kind of stole the show when she showed up yeah yeah she's great yeah she's fun do you got do you have a favorite character out of this andrew do i have a favorite character i got to go with Bosco just because I love impersonating and seeing, I think
Starting point is 00:15:51 impersonating is the finest form of flattery although a lot of people would say that you are mocking when you do it. I think if your heart is in the right place and people understand that. So I would go with Bosco. And I thought he really nailed the Jesse Eisenberg one,
Starting point is 00:16:06 especially in the beginning when they were pretending to have all the four horsemen on stage. So I would say that. What about you, Tara? Who's your favorite character? Veronica's dad. Definitely. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:16:17 That guy was ruthless. No, I think I really liked to parkour with June in the beginning. I really, really enjoyed her. I like, and her action scene was, like, cut so well. That's mainly cinematography, but the writing of her character and being, like, an action-slash-magician, and also very casual, throw stuff away a lot. I like that vibe. Yeah. They're all fun picks right here.
Starting point is 00:16:44 What about you? I mean, I wouldn't put any of the new characters in my favorite. Like, they're enjoyable. Yeah. I was a little confused on Justice Smith, though, for a second. Because when he's confronting Veronica, I don't know. I don't think this is a nitpick, or is this something that people do?
Starting point is 00:16:59 With his accent? Yeah, when he's confronting Veronica, he has a South African accent. Yeah. Oh, cool. He's actually, like, feigning an American accent. Right. Or is it? It was just so she could recognize right away that this is her brother.
Starting point is 00:17:12 So he wasn't seen her in a long time. So your takeaway is he was putting on a South African accent? I mean, he probably, right, I mean, I don't remember the eight. I mean, he's probably what, like eight or nine or ten when that happened? So he hasn't had that accent in a very long time, right? Yeah. So this is the accent that she remembers him with, and he's, like, going to give her some familiarity. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:33 It's my guess. It's a weird, that's a weird move, so I see where you're ahead. Is that great? Because you're like, well, the rest of the time, he speaks an American. The rest of the time after He does a South African in private With them, I'm like, wait a minute I don't understand
Starting point is 00:17:50 It's a little confusing A little bit, yeah Hey man, Christian Bill It takes the movie down like 10 points for me Honestly, you know So many points It's good to say Christian Bill was speaking in the Batman
Starting point is 00:17:59 Voice after Catwoman disappeared too So these are confusing times Same thing Same problem Very confusing times Although I did find the contrast Between his character and Veronica To be very slightly
Starting point is 00:18:11 interesting in regards to that she had this whole thing happened where she decided to be greedy and live in isolation and he had this terrible tragedy happened to him where he was literally in the car and then he found a family and then wanted to get retribution
Starting point is 00:18:29 and vindication for it and now he's going to use this money for good, everything that she should have done so I actually found the contrast between the siblings to be actually rather fascinating. All right, cool. What do you think of Rosamund Pike?
Starting point is 00:18:41 She was great. I mean, here's the thing, when there's so many movies that cast people and then they have an accent and they frickin' suck. Yeah. And you're like, they're in and out and in and out. And I don't know how the producers or the directors or the scripty or any people in Video Village went, yep, we'll go with that one. Rosamond Pike didn't miss me with the accent, which I love. She's a great actress, as we know, but mainly the accent, 10 out of 10. I thought it was going to bother me at first in the first few lines.
Starting point is 00:19:11 I was like, all right, I'm over it. I'm actually enjoying it. I do want to ask you, though, did you like her accent more in this film or her American accent more in Jack Reacher? I would say, I mean, this one, I was aware if she was putting on an accent.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Right. And it was like a really good job, but I at the same time, like I never, because I'm aware of who Rosamund Pike is. Jack Reacher, I know she's not American. When I saw Jack Reacher, I didn't know she was not American. I didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I already knew that But I fell for that in there But no I mean for here South African's heart I kept trying to do it I just kind of like terrible Germans But I kept coming out of my mouth But so yeah
Starting point is 00:19:53 I liked to I like that I thought like her as a villain It was surprisingly effective And I like how she actually had a wit about her She was the only one who managed to catch the horseman Yeah But she failed for the pipes Failed for the pipes
Starting point is 00:20:07 I want to see what the Rotten Tomatoes audience score is Primarily that going to guess 58% and I'm going to go like on the audience oh no no no not audience I'm going to guess not audience I'm going to go don't show me it 87 I'm going to guess 507 and 87 is my guess hold on a second let's write this down you sons of bitches all right and you 7 57 and 87 okay Tara who are you um I will say audience 82 critics 63 okay okay that's pretty high for critics all right Greg is going to say
Starting point is 00:20:44 45 4 critics I'm going to say you know I'm going to go pretty low on it I'm going to say 75 for audience okay you probably you might be right because I've got to imagine
Starting point is 00:21:00 some people feel the way I do about that let's type it in Greg did some illusion to make it do exactly what he wanted it We're not really seeing the truth. Oh, shit. You guys are hired.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Tara's the closest. It's the closest. Like literally. Tara's one percent. Tara's got the fucking closest on both. 63% on critics for Tara. Look at her go. And the movie 61% audience 81% and she was 82.
Starting point is 00:21:33 Nice job, Tara. Nice. You did good. It did good. Andrew and I were both off by 6% on the audience. we're terrible we're terrible we don't know what we're talking about iron mole but what did now you see me too get on not that high i don't think on the uh that was that was 2016 90 yeah that is okay but there's 50,000 people rating the audience yeah you're you're right and right now there's
Starting point is 00:21:57 what was the rating on this one how many ratings were there not a thousand plus that's not a fair comparison no and then what was the first one now you see me yeah and these movies are like hated in the beginning like 100,000 The 70% is pretty good on audience. I look more at the audience when it comes to the Now You See Me Movies. But yeah. Damn, this is the highest critically rated one out of them all, actually. That shows people have grown on it.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I guess we'll see, though, as time goes by, right? Because there's only a thousand and it could be. But, hey, it was a fun time, and that's what counts. Guys, what did you think about? Now you see me. Now you don't. Out of the three, where would you rank it? Leave it in your thoughts down below.
Starting point is 00:22:39 it in your thoughts down below. Leave it in your comments down below. Leave the thoughts in the comments down below. My God, what is taking you guys so long to say the sentence? We're done here. Peace out, Reject Nation. Bye a wicked shirt.
